Ch. 491..495: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 491-495

Chapter 491: Chapter 491 - How long have you been there?

"Tell me first," Sabrina said anxiously, but Robin was adamant. If he didn’t have her word, he was not going to tell her for fear that she would tell Aria about it.

"No. Promise me first."

"Fine, I promise." Sabrina gave up and spoke. Robin took a deep breath before he announced,

"Robert is the father of Giselle’s unborn child."

He was not amazed to see a blend of shock and excitement in Sabrina’s eyes. "What?"

Robin explained it with his usual calmness. "When I found out, I didn’t want Aria to know, so I couldn’t tell you."

A sudden realization hit Sabrina at the moment, and she said, "I knew it was strange for Pete to not be able to find out anything. I was even beginning to think that he was affected by old age."

"Hahaha," Robin laughed, and Sabrina suddenly got serious.

"So what is the plan?" She knew that Robin would not just take the decision to keep it from her at the time for notice.

Most certainly, he must have something cooking up. "I already gave Robert a timeline. Please trust me on this."

"So are you going to tell him that she’s pregnant?"

Sabrina hoped that this wonderful news would help Robert to decide sooner, but Robin had other plans.

"No. That’s his punishment for acting rashly, but he confessed being in love with her."

"That is the best news ever. I can’t believe that he’s in love with her, even without knowing that she saved his life. I can’t wait for them to get married. I feel so happy, my king." The excitement in Sabrina’s voice made Robin happy as she suddenly asked,

"So, are we still going on a vacation?"

Robin pursed his lips together. "I think we should wait until this issue is resolved. I want to see how Robert handles this. He must be smart in business, but he seems dumb in relationship matters."

"Perhaps it’s because we kept the truth from him."

"What truth, mom?" Robert asked from the entrance. Sabrina stiffened slightly, wondering for how long he has been there.

It was a weekday and was also night, so no one expected Robert to pay his parents another surprise visit. Sabrina was also not so thrilled to see him today, hoping that he hadn’t heard too much.

"Robert, how long have you been there?"

Robert ignored his mother and addressed his father. "Dad, do you really think I’m so dumb? Do you think it’s fair that I don’t know the woman who saved my life?" He asked with a bitter expression.

Robin wanted to withdraw his words but thought against it. It was good that Robert was eager to show appreciation to the woman who saved his life, but,

"It isn’t, but her wish is our command."

Robert’s teeth were gnashing together when he didn’t seem to be making headway with his parents. They provided him with everything and showered him with so much love, but why were they keeping something so vital from him? Robert could not understand.

"Why do you make it so hard for me?" The pain in his voice caused his parents’ hearts to sink, but none of them could say any comforting words to him.

"Giselle was sick today. I wanted to be there for her, but each time, I withdraw because I’m afraid." Dejection laced his voice, he felt miserable.

Robin would have indeed told him and cautioned him to keep it a secret, but he was also afraid that that would be the driving force for Robert to chase the woman he wanted.

A man should be bold and go after what he wanted, daring the consequence. That was Robin’s resolve, and he wondered why his son was so different.

However, it made sense to him. When he had gotten married the first time, he had treated Sabrina badly because he thought Zayla saved his life.

But it was good that Robert wanted things to be done this way. Nobody would get hurt in the end.

"You don’t have to be afraid to follow your heart. If the woman who saved your life doesn’t want you to know, it’s because she wants you to be happy."

"But I want to know. I will never be happy until I find her."

"And Giselle?" Sabrina asked. Robert paused. Giselle’s presence every morning was like a ray of sunshine.

Her voice rings in his head every day, especially in his lonely nights when he wishes to have her by his side.

It has been very difficult for him to hide his feelings, and this secret was only messing up his life. For his parents keeping something so huge from him, he no longer felt welcome to the villa.

"I wanted to spend the night here, but I changed my mind. Good night." Before either Robin or Sabrina could stop him, he was gone like the wind, just as he had appeared.

Robert sat in the car not knowing where to go. He wanted to drive to Giselle’s house to have a talk with her, but something he couldn’t lay a finger on kept preventing him.

In the end, he decided to chat with her on WeChat. ’Hi, did you take the test?’

He waited for ten minutes, but there was no response as Giselle usually will. Mostly, it took seconds for her response to come in.

Thinking that she might be sleeping, he called her directly. It would be like her boss trying to check on her.

The phone was answered on the first ring, but it didn’t seem like she was sleeping. She was rather sorrowful, and Robert’s heart sunk. "What is the problem, why are you crying?"

A dozen flowers had been delivered to Giselle a while ago, but it ended up making her cry more, as she wished they were from Robert.

"I’m just watching a sad movie," she lied, but Robert caught through, instantly saying,

"Give me the title. I will like to watch it too." Her mind went blank, as no sad movie title immediately came to mind.

Chapter 492: Chapter 492 - Assuming that I’m pregnant, what will you do?

"Um. It’s...it’s..." she stammered, but still, no sad movie title came to mind to save her from the uncomfortable situation.

Robert’s heart throbbed, feeling that she was pregnant and didn’t want to say it, which was why she refused to respond to him on WeChat.

"Giselle, we were friends before working colleagues. You can tell me anything," he said softly, but Giselle smiled sadly as she suddenly recalled the title of a sad movie she had watched before.

"I just checked the title. It’s Tears of the Sun."

"But there is no noise from the TV," Robert pointed out. Giselle stiffened and she couldn’t help but wonder his reason for suddenly becoming so pushy.

"Because I muted it before answering your call," she quickly created an excuse. Robert was eager to confirm his suspicion and was not ready to give up.

"Then unmute it."

Giselle was suddenly uncomfortable with Robert’s demand, asking, "How will I hear you and why are you calling?"

Robert knew she would ask, having a ready answer for her. "You weren’t well today, so I was calling to check on you. If you don’t feel better, take tomorrow off. I will come and check on you after I close from work."

Wanting an opportunity to be with her away from the work environment, he came up with this plan, but Giselle quickly refused.

"No, I’m fine. I will be there tomorrow."

Well, the fact remained that Robert would still see his ray of sunshine, even if it wasn’t going to be out of working hours like he wanted. "If you say so, then I will hang up now."

After the call ended, he waited for a few minutes and chatted with her again, but there was no response. Robert was frustrated and chatted,

’If I don’t hear from you by early in the morning, I will assume there is something wrong with you and come looking for you.’

Giselle had tears in her eyes. She wanted to slowly cut off passion fruit to make it easy for her to leave with the child, but why was he suddenly becoming a pest?

There was an instant response. ’I’m fine. The test result was negative, so you are free. No need to see me or be in touch again.’

Robert was unsettled in his heart about the response. If it were so, then why did she throw up so much at the office, and why did she sound gloomy when he called her?

She must be hiding something from him. ’Send me a picture of the home pregnancy test tube.’

Giselle could feel her breath choking her. ’You don’t trust me?’

She began to wonder who this man was. She hadn’t taken interest in knowing the invited guests to the party and felt disturbed.

Could he be more powerful than Robin? Giselle doubted it. The only person who was more powerful than Robin at the moment was his son, Robert.

’This isn’t about trust. What could make you throw up? Don’t forget that you were the one who informed me,’ He asked and said through chat.

There was something making Robert so aggressive tonight, and he had no idea if it was because of his parents’ lies or if it was because he had gone crazy for the woman he had secretly been in love with.

There was just a sudden rise of possessiveness in him that he lacked control over. His time was short, and he wanted so much to be with her, wishing and hoping that she was carrying his child.

Giselle regretted being in touch with him and telling him so much. By then, she wanted him to take responsibility, but not anymore.

Feeling that she already lost her chances of being with Robert because of this, she didn’t see herself being with this man too.

’Look, I’m not pregnant,’ she chatted again, but Robert was not believing it. Giselle would not have been so sad if she wasn’t pregnant.

Knowing that she was a decent woman who never knew any man except him, Giselle was like an open book before him, and he was ready to take things to the next level, be it patiently or aggressively.

’Then it shouldn’t disturb you if I send a health worker to come and take the test for me, right?’

Giselle panicked. Seemed like passion fruit was not as simple as he proclaimed in the beginning.

However, though her parents weren’t so powerful, she had Robin and Sabrina’s support and was willing to go by Robin’s plan.

All she wanted was two weeks before she leaves the soils of New York City. Also, she would get to be with Robert for two weeks before leaving.

’You don’t have my address.’

Robert was getting agitated about the whole thing, and he was certain that things would be different when they meet in the office tomorrow.

’I know everything about you, and if you are pregnant, don’t think about keeping it from me.’

Giselle would have been afraid, but she remembered Robin’s promise once again and was bold. ’What will you do and how do you know everything about me? Maybe I was wrong in contacting you.’

Her responses were just enough conviction that Robert’s suspicions were right. If it was as she had said, she wouldn’t hesitate to show him a picture of the test kit.

’I had someone watching all your movements when I left. I have eyes everywhere, so don’t try to outsmart me.’

’You have been stalking me?’

Giselle’s fingers typing on the phone shook, but Robert was too curious. His parents were lying to him, and now it was Giselle. Adding two and one together, made him enraged, he didn’t care that he was being rude.

’Call it whatever you want.’

Giselle chatted back, ’Assuming that I’m pregnant, what will you do?’

’Are you?’ He asked seriously in return. Giselle was confused and wanted to consult her mother but saw that passion fruit was typing something.

It took a little long, so she was expecting a long message. When it arrived, she was even more conflicted.

Chapter 493: Chapter 493 - Giselle, Robert is here to see you.

’I will only make my intentions known if you are honest with me. Please don’t expect what you don’t want to give.’

As she reminisced over the message, she realized one thing. If she continued lying to him, he might end up lying to her as well. But how could she tell him the truth when he seemed so desperate about a mere pregnancy test result?

Giselle’s eyes were suddenly heavy, she yawned before typing another message on her phone. ’It’s late and I’m very tired. I will tell you everything tomorrow.’

Robert wanted to let her rest but knew that he wouldn’t be able to close his eyes because of the suspense.

’It’s just a simple question. No need to lose sleep over it. You took the test so what was the result? A health worker is already on her way.’

Scaring her with the health worker worked for the first time so he tried it again. Giselle was frustrated, finding no way of escape. Anger settled in her heart as she typed a response.

’No need. It’s positive. Good night.’

Robert forgot to breathe when he read her chat. All his life, he never felt the excitement he was feeling in his car in the car park of his parents’ villa.

Tears of joy formed in the corner of his eyes. ’Please wait. You mean you are carrying our baby?’ He was blinded with tears when he typed the question on WeChat.

Giselle had mixed feelings when she felt the surprise in his words. The last thing she wanted was for this stranger to start pursuing her because of the mistake of one night.

’Yeah, but I’m still thinking about whether I want to keep it or not. I already told you that I have eyes for someone.’

Robert stiffened, never imagining before that Giselle would have the guts to even think about terminating the pregnancy.

He never saw it coming, fearing that if things went wrong, she might indeed resort to such means. Disappointment darkened his gaze, his fingers typing as fast as he could.

His joy had just been stolen in a blink, just as it was given to him. ’So, you will kill our child for someone you have eyes on?’

Though he knew he was the one she loved, it was still painful to imagine. She might get upset when he confesses everything to her, hence his fear of her indeed terminating their child if he got her upset.

His sad words struck a chord in Giselle and she felt saddened and guilty. ’You make it look as if I’m a villain. I already lost the man I love with this pregnancy so I just want to go somewhere quiet. I will contact you when the child is born.’

She thought that by making it clear to him that their child was safe, he would let her be but was in for another surprise.

’No. You can’t do that and trust me, I will follow you wherever you go. Let’s meet and talk about this, do you understand? The weekend is not far anyway.’

He was ready to confess everything as there was no need to waste any more time. Even if his mother had lied again about the woman who saved his life being old, he didn’t think that he would ever find it in him to hurt Giselle if that wasn’t the case.

’Alright,’ Giselle agreed. She couldn’t leave anyway, as she already made a promise to Robin. Robert was grateful, knowing that he would move heaven and earth to make her his.

He must have taken long to make up his mind but once he did, there was no going back. ’Thank you for giving me the greatest gift in the world. I love you.’

Robert already sent the message before coming to his senses. He wanted to edit it to remove the last three words as he felt it was too immature but she had already seen and responded,

’I haven’t seen you before. I might hate you.’

Robert sighed with relief that she was not as offended as he thought she would be. Also, she already confessed that she was in love with her boss, which was also him.

His heart was light and he felt like his night won’t be lonely anymore as he was going to spend it thinking about his future with Giselle and their unborn child.

’Trust me, you have seen me before. Goodnight.’

Giselle frowned at the response and was certain that her sleep was taken away as she began to imagine who it could be.

She thought about the people in her company. Then those who attended the party, majority of whom she never even saw, as she kept stealing glances at Robert and Aliya then.

’Wait, when did I see you and where?’ She asked through chat but Robert had already gotten what he wanted.

A smile lined the corner of his lips as he guessed the frustration in her chat but did not respond as she chatted again,

’If you don’t tell me, I will abort this child.’

He panicked and replied instantly, ’Don’t even dare. We already made arrangements to meet over the weekend so why the rush? Please eat well and take good care of our baby. I have a surprise for you when we meet.’

’What kind of surprise?’ Giselle asked curiously, surprised that she was suddenly warming up to him. Robert chatted back.

’You need rest, my sweetheart. You have made me happy and you should be happy. I promise to treat you like the treasure you are.’

Giselle only wanted these words to come from one person. Since they weren’t from him, they were equally meaningless.

’Good night.’

By the time she woke up the next morning, the flowers in her room had been changed and they were more than the previous ones. Before she could find out what was going on, her phone beeped.

’I hope you like the flowers.’

Her heart thumped. So, passion fruit indeed knew her house. Giselle was scared and rushed downstairs to inform her mom but before she reached the bottom of the stairs, her mother yelled,

"Giselle, Robert is here to see you."

Chapter 494: Chapter 494 – Sabrina, I have good news

"Giselle, Robert is here to see you," her mother yelled, but it was too late for her to run. Her gaze was already boring into Robert’s, her heart thumping wildly.

It had been a while since Robert came to her house, and those visits were usually on weekends when they had family gatherings.

For a weekday, it felt weird. Giselle was not comfortable with Robert’s presence because of her pregnancy, afraid of any look of disgust that might emanate from him.

"Robert, what do you want here? Are you the one who sent the flowers?"

She began to wonder if Robert was ’passion fruit’. What a coincidence that he would arrive at her house on a weekday, the same time she received those flowers from that mysterious man.

Then again, she found her thinking absurd, as she recalled that Robert was with Aaliya most of that night, so how could he have been the one?

Her cheek turned pink when she imagined it to be him. Robert was just happy to see her and almost wrapped his arms around her, but right now, they had so much to talk about before they could define their relationship.

As such, he continued to pretend. "You weren’t feeling well yesterday, so I wanted to drive you to the office. What flowers are you talking about?" He asked.

Giselle was somewhat disappointed that it wasn’t him, especially when the person who sent the flowers claimed that she knew him.

It meant that it could be anyone, and at this moment, she wished it was Robert. However, she also felt that she would be angered if it were him for putting her through so much trauma.

No, it couldn’t be Robert. She had to be more open-minded to find the person or rather, wait until over the weekend.

"You don’t have to. I’m fine," Giselle lowered her head and said, surprised when Robert’s fingers slid under her chin and he lifted it gently.

She could swear that she saw the passion in his eyes. Something she never saw before, but even if he was starting to fall for her like she was thinking, it was too late because she was pregnant with somebody else.

"But you still look pale. Your eyes are puffy." Robert’s heart sank upon seeing her sullen look. Giselle walked past him, as his closeness made her uncomfortable.

"I’m fine, trust me, I am."

Robert stared at her with longing. He had a lot planned for today. Before driving to her house, he had already cancelled his morning appointments without her knowing.

That was also her job, but he did it without telling her. The partners were surprised to hear from the President himself but didn’t have the guts to ask about his secretary.

"Then get ready and let’s go. I already had breakfast delivered to the office for you."

Giselle subconsciously locked gazes with him at the revelation. She was usually the one who ordered breakfast for him since he was quite a picky eater. "Why?"

Robert’s lips curled a little, but it was such a small smile that it almost went unnoticed. "Do you want to be late?"

Aria observed the interaction between the two, her heart aching for her daughter. It was clear that Robert’s presence was making it hard for Giselle to overcome the pain of the mistake of that drunken night.

It would be better if Giselle drove herself to the office, but going together would only make her uncomfortable.

An idea dropped in her mind, she smiled and said, "Giselle, you should hurry. Your boss is very thoughtful."

Aria wanted to call Sabrina to ask for another favor but felt that she had worried the woman too much. As she contemplated, the phone in her hand rang.

Lo and behold, it was Sabrina, and Aria’s eyes squinted. Sabrina never really called so early in the morning.

Though Aria was happy, she was still worried about the call.

***

Earlier, Sabrina received a call from Laura. "Sabrina, I have good news."

Sabrina was happy to hear the excitement in her voice, which could be compared to that of a little child.

Ever since getting married to Jacob, Laura’s face was always decorated with beautiful smiles, and she laughed a lot compared to the cold person she was when working with the agency.

"Everybody loves good news, but why do I have a feeling it’s about the twins?" Sabrina asked suspiciously. Laura chuckled.

"You are right. Larry and Lambert want to get married on the same day. Their women agreed too."

Laura and Jacob had stayed in California for some time since Larry and Lambert took over the businesses. The wedding arrangement meant that she was going to return to the villa with Jacob.

"That’s wonderful news. They are going to have a grand wedding then," Sabrina hinted since Laura was the only one to marry secretly.

Sabrina hoped that Laura wasn’t thinking about a secret wedding for her children because of her past.

"Yeah, I guess I was the only one who had a small wedding," Laura replied on the other side of the line, hinting that, things will be different for the twins.

"It’s well understood and has given you peace like a river."

Laura agreed that her decision was necessary, keeping herself and her family safe from harm. "Yeah, there is nothing like it. Jacob is such a darling, he brings me so much joy."

"Like your daughter," Sabrina smiled over the phone at the recollection of Joy. She got married recently, making Sabrina happy that her twin elder brothers were next in line.

"I have a perfect life, and I just wish my parents and siblings were a part of it." There was a slight regret in Laura’s tone. Sabrina felt terrible and encouraged her.

"No. You just have to be grateful for what you have and forget about what you didn’t have." Though Laura had retired from active service, she still took care of the security of all family members.

A couple of times, she took down some enemies who tried to attack Sabrina. "You are right. Thank you very much for always being there," Laura said over the phone. Sabrina shook her head and retorted,

"Thanks a lot for dealing with our enemies in secret. I’m surprised that none of my nephews or Joy took after you," Sabrina thought aloud.

Laura went into deep thought. She hadn’t trained any of her children in that field, almost feeling like a loser, but then again...

Chapter 495: Chapter 495 - Please Stay Out of This

"It’s a dangerous life. With all the money they have, they can always pay for protection," Laura finally said. With that notion, all the guilt from before instantly disappeared.

At the other side of the line, Sabrina was nodding her head in agreement. "You have a good point. So now, let’s focus on planning another wedding. I will send the message across."

Their kids were rich, but the parents still sponsored their weddings, which is why Sabrina had to inform the others.

"Alright. Thank you and..." Laura paused, not knowing how to make her request.

"What?" Sabrina encouraged her. Laura took a deep breath before speaking.

"They want the wedding to be at The Queen’s Garden." She knew how much The Queen’s Garden meant to Sabrina and was not aware that it had recently been opened to the public, though it was very expensive.

"The Queen’s Garden it is," Sabrina readily agreed. This would be the first wedding to be held at her special garden, and it boosted her excitement.

When Sabrina ended the call, she dialed Matilda and Lizzy on a conference call. "We have a joint wedding coming up."

Anticipation brewed from the conference call. "Let me guess. Larry and Lambert," Matilda said. It wasn’t hard to guess since those two had women they loved.

Their wedding was indeed expected. "You are right," Sabrina confirmed from her side of the line.

Matilda was happy but couldn’t help feeling sorrowful for her first son.

"I wish that Mark would get married too," Matilda said, adding, "he still hasn’t brought any woman home."

"Well, I saw an engagement ring on Jasmine’s finger, and when I asked her about it, she said I will soon know about it. I don’t know why she’s keeping it a secret when she already accepted a man’s ring, and I’m beginning to think it’s fake," Lizzy lamented from her side of the line, adding,

"I wish that Jasmine would also get married."

Sabrina was disturbed by the worries of her sister and best friend, but thinking about what was happening between Giselle and Robert, she felt that all hope was not lost.

"Who knows, miracles can happen," she encouraged them. But Lizzy was still disturbed, asking,

"Aren’t you worried about Robert anymore?"

Sabrina smiled from her side of the line, except that they couldn’t see it. "No. I suddenly believe in miracles. Let’s meet later to plan the wedding."

The two other women on the conference call agreed, and as Matilda suddenly asked, "Have you informed Aria?"

Aria was the only one among the family who wasn’t related by blood or married to either of their men.

She, however, earned her position through hard work, loyalty, and love. "I will call her now."

Sabrina ended the conference call and dialed Aria’s number as the latter said, "Sabrina, I was just about to call you."

"What is the problem?" Sabrina was instantly flooded with worry as she asked from the end of the line.

Aria was speaking in an undertone, away from where Robert sat waiting patiently for Giselle. "You called, so I guess you should speak first," she held back and said. Sabrina smiled and announced,

"Larry and Lambert are ready to get married, and they want a joint wedding."

Aria was so happy, as if it was one of her children getting married. Due to how she struggled for a child after marriage, she was happy that Giselle was considering leaving rather than aborting the child.

How she wished that Giselle would also get married to the man she loved, but at the moment, that hope was gone.

Nevertheless, she was very happy about the pending joint wedding. "That is good news. We have to meet to plan the wedding, right?"

"Yes, so tell me what the problem is," Sabrina reminded her. Aria’s expression turned sorrowful.

"Robert is here."

Sabrina stiffened slightly, not knowing whether Robert’s presence there was for good or bad.

"What does he want?"

Aria was speaking in a hushed tone. "He insists on taking Giselle to the office, but you know her condition. It would be better for her to be away from him. Can you please speak some sense into him?" Aria politely requested, not wanting Robert’s presence to worsen what Giselle was already going through.

Sabrina knew a lot of things Aria didn’t, so she couldn’t agree but couldn’t refuse either. "Let me get Robin’s help instead," she said, trying to play it safe and not reveal everything.

"Okay," Aria agreed, trusting that Sabrina would know best how to handle her son. A few minutes later, Robert received a call from his father and didn’t seem happy about it.

"What is the problem, Dad?" He asked in annoyance. Robin didn’t want Robert to know about Aria’s involvement in trying to get him out of the house, so he asked,

"Where are you?"

"At Giselle’s residence. I’m taking her to the office," Robert said honestly, hoping that his father would be happy about his progress.

He was rather disappointed by Robin’s response. "Can you give her a break? She wouldn’t be comfortable around you since she doesn’t know that you are responsible for her predicament."

He wasn’t expecting his father to discourage him from seeing the woman he loved. Anger laced his tone. "Dad, please stay out of this."

"I..."

"Please, Dad, this is my life," Robert cut his father off. Robin was speechless.

"Fine. Bye." He quickly ended the call, saying to the anxious Sabrina, "I think it’s high time we stay out of their relationship."

Sabrina felt empty that she couldn’t help Aria this time, rehearsing an excuse in her mind as she dialed Aria’s number.

Aria answered the phone on the first ring. "Sabrina, he still hasn’t made any attempt to leave, and Aria is almost ready. Even if she can’t drive, I would rather send a driver to take her."

Sabrina felt helpless about everything, hoping that keeping Robert’s wrongs a secret would not eventually destroy their friendship.

Still, she felt that Robin was right, and it was high time they allowed the youth to handle their own affairs.

"Aria, please don’t worry about anything. Just have a little faith that everything will be fine," she said softly. But getting no response, she grew anxious.
