Ch. 91..100: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 91-100
Chapter 91: Chapter 91 – Her next antenatal
Robin wanted to ask about what had happened, but since Daniel had said that he was already on his way to the office, he thought it was better to talk about it when he arrived and asked,
"How long will it take?"
"I’m just parking my car," Daniel responded.
"Great. I have a meeting in an hour," Robin informed him before hanging up the phone. Within a few minutes, Daniel walked in and sat in front of Robin.
"We have a problem," Daniel spoke while setting up his laptop.
"What?" Robin asked, and Daniel stared at him oddly. He thought that Robin already knew, but his reaction said otherwise. Daniel asked rhetorically,
"You don’t know that everything about Mara has been wiped with only information about her death?"
"By who?"
Robin checked his time and asked. It seemed like this might take more than an hour, and he had to know whether or not he needed to adjust the time for his meeting.
"I don’t know, Robin, I’ve been trying for hours, and nothing would come up about the hacker," Daniel complained bitterly for the first time.
He was top notch and would always crush his enemies under his feet but this was the first time he found himself in a situation like this.
"That means he’s better than you," Robin pointed out. Daniel was offended but also realized it was the truth.
One of the best qualities of great hackers was their ability to hide their identity, so if this one could not be traced, then Daniel could not deny that he was better.
"I guess."
"Then I should rather employ him and fire you," Robin said seriously. Daniel’s eyes widened. It was a fact that Robin always liked to work with the best, but Daniel never thought he would push him away the moment a better hacker came into the picture, especially when they were best friends.
"Robin!" Daniel exclaimed, and Robin chuckled,
"I’m just kidding, but first of all, take down the news about Sabrina and me."
Daniel’s eyes squinted at the request. Was this not what he asked Robin before? "What made you change your mind?"
Robin shrugged and hid the pain. Sabrina did not want anyone to see them together. Her pictures and videos of her and Martin were still trending, and Robin was envious, though his countenance was calm.
"She called to request it."
"I see. It’s down."
Daniel was already working on it while Robin spoke because the latter had said that he had a meeting in an hour. Daniel wanted to ensure that Robin did not miss his meeting because of him.
Robin sent a one-word text message to Sabrina, ’Done.’
There was an equally one-word response, ’Thanks.’
Robin did not understand what he was feeling, but everytime Sabrina acted distant towards him, his heart ached, and he desired what they had before.
He wished he could make it up to her, but there did not seem to be a way with Zayla in the picture.
"Now, how do we find this hacker," Robin asked, bringing his attention to the latest information, for which reason Daniel had to rush down to his office.
"When I was taking my training in certified hacking, only one guy was ahead of me, but he only kept to himself. I can’t even remember his name," Daniel raked his mind and spoke.
"You suspect it’s him?" Robin asked seriously. If he knew the hacker’s identity, then he’d know what to do. Daniel was not sure, but he could not think of any other hacker who was better than him.
"I don’t have anyone else in mind, but I think I should get help," he suggested. Robin was not ready to deal with people he could not trust and asked seriously,
"From who?"
Daniel combed his hair with his fingers and sighed frustratedly, "I don’t know, but I have to find this hacker before he messes us up."
Robin smiled a little, feeling that Daniel was exhausted and was not thinking straight. He was almost certain that Daniel could do this on his own if he put his mind to it. As such, he suggested calmly,
"Daniel, you’ve been working very hard. I think you should take a few days off to help you start over with renewed energy."
When Daniel thought about the suggestion, he felt that Robin had a good point. He had less sleep and worked through the night. On Fridays, he’d visit the club with Robin and fuck some bitches.
He needed a break from it all. It wasn’t fun anymore, and he wanted to get out of that irresponsible life.
He also felt that with this short break, he would have the calmness to set his mind in motion again.
"You are right. All work and no play makes Daniel a dull boy. I think it’s time to make a move on Lizzy. I will go to her office tomorrow."
Daniel was only suggesting something adventurous to keep his mind off work for a little while, but Robin was concerned for him and warned seriously,
"Be careful not to get your ass kicked by her violent brother."
Daniel seemed to have forgotten about Devin but as soon as Robin mentioned him, Daniel had a change of plan. He didn’t want to offend the brother of the woman he wanted to pursue, lest he made things difficult for him.
"Don’t worry, I know how to handle the likes of him," Daniel smiled and spoke. Then he checked his phone, at the same time his eyes widened as he informed, "guess what? Sabrina has her next antenatal on Friday, just a day before the party."
Robin’s heart did a flip. Now he would have a reason to be close to Sabrina and he could not help smiling at the thought of the probability.
"Sounds like the best news ever," he responded with a smile, just as Aria entered the office and said,
"Sir, the board members are waiting for you in the conference room."
Chapter 92: Chapter 92 – Daniel’s strategy
The next day, Daniel went to JC Clothing to see Lizzy. At the reception, he was having a hard time with the playboy he was. It was not easy for him to convince the receptionist to let him in.
"Hi, I’m Daniel Root, and I want to see Elizabeth James," he posed in front of the receptionist and requested.
The receptionist checked through the guest list and did not see a name that looked or sounded like his, so she asked,
"Is it official or personal?"
"Personal," Daniel responded and leaned in. The receptionist blushed at the closeness but responded professionally,
"I’m sorry, she’s very busy."
"Business," Daniel quickly changed his stand after seeing his mistake. If he used a personal reason, then it meant that, indeed, if Lizzy was busy, she would not have time for personal stuff. Whiles he thought that was the end, the receptionist asked again,
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No, but it’s business. I want her to design a dress for my girlfriend," Daniel quickly came up with the idea.
The receptionist glanced at him, feeling that his girlfriend was lucky. She called Lizzy on the intercom.
"Miss Chance, there is a man here, Daniel Root. He says he wants you to design a dress for his girlfriend."
"Okay, let him in," Lizzy responded from the end of the line. Since she heard about a dress being designed, she did not think of the fact that the name sounded familiar.
As soon as Daniel walked in, Lizzy regretted it. "You! What do you want here?" She asked in annoyance while polishing some sketches. Daniel looked around the office admiringly,
"Nice office. I guess you never feel bored with all those designs on the wall."
"What do you want?" Lizzy asked seriously, not wanting any friend of Robin close to her. Daniel smiled at her. Her seriousness got him even more attracted to her whiles he responded,
"Like I said, I want you to design a dress for my girlfriend."
Lizzy paused what she was doing, and Daniel felt he got her attention this time.
"What kind of dress?" She asked him while flipping the large sheet to the back to make room for a fresh one.
"Party dress to be used to attend the General’s daughter’s welcome party," Daniel quickly thought of an excuse and spoke.
"What is your preference?" Lizzy asked again, not suspecting that his only reason for being there was to see her. Daniel was serious throughout the discussion.
"I don’t know, and that’s why I’m here," he seriously responded and sat in front of her. Lizzy did not apologize for not offering him a seat earlier and only went on to say,
"Then you will pay a lot."
"Money is not a problem," Daniel agreed.
She brought out her catalog of designs and said,
"I will give you a few samples to choose from."
Daniel shook his head and stared at her. Even though she looked tired, she was still breathtaking. "Like I said, I don’t even know what she’d like. It’s a surprise."
Lizzy sat back in her chair, stared at him, and asked, "So, what do we do?"
Daniel looked her in the eyes and suggested, "Let’s do it this way, design the dress to your preference. If you were attending that party, what would you wear to stand out?" He smirked.
Lizzy felt that he wanted to surprise his girlfriend but did not know what she liked, so she asked him,
"Do you want just the design, or do you want us to sow the dress as well?"
"You design and sow," Daniel smiled with satisfaction since she had gotten the idea of what he was looking for.
Lizzy began to jot down a few things whiles she asked again,
"What is her dress size?"
Daniel panicked a little before he quickly relaxed to not create suspicion. He never thought about that question and did not prepare a response for it. He smiled a little, and spoke mischievously,
"I have no idea, but she’s just your height and size. Like, there are no differences between your sizes."
Lizzy frowned a little, feeling weird about his description. Even she and Sabrina had dissimilarities.
"Do you have a picture of her?" She asked, trying to confirm if what he was saying is true.
Daniel saw through her smartness and responded cunningly," Yes, but I won’t let you see. You are a professional, so I want to see what you got."
Lizzy sighed frustratedly and gave up. "Fill out this form. I will have your bill prepared."
Daniel obeyed and elegantly filled out the form. Lizzy made a few calls, and a few minutes later, an accounts clerk walked in with an envelope. She took it and explained after the clerk left,
"You have to make part payment and pay the rest upon delivery. Due to the limited time, I shifted it to express, which adds a fifty percent increase to the price. It shall be delivered in the morning of the party."
"Thank you," Daniel took the bill and said whiles he transferred the complete amount with some extra. "I want the dress delivered by you," he demanded.
Her brows raised, so he showed her the payment alert and her brows creased,
"You paid more."
"Yeah, so you’ll do the delivery yourself," Daniel insisted. Lizzy smiled. It wasn’t the first time she made a delivery. It was always dependent on the client.
Sometimes, they would have to help the client to put on the dress and ensure that it was a perfect fit.
"Alright, I believe your girlfriend will marry you after she sees the dress," she smacked.
"Then my dreams would come through," Daniel said and stood up while looking at her intensely. This was the closest he got to see her and the first time they had a decent conversation.
As soon as he was about to leave, Devin entered, looking furious, "what do you want here?" He growled.
Chapter 93: Chapter 93 – Sabrina’s illness
Daniel was composed, and before he responded, Lizzy said seriously, "Devin, he came for business."
Devin stared at Daniel with fury and shook his head. He did not believe that Daniel was there for business. Playboys were very smart and could come up with so many strategies.
"Don’t fall for it. He came to see you," Devin said to Lizzy. Daniel saw the change in Lizzy’s expression and quickly asked,
"Yes, I came to see her to design a dress for my girlfriend, so what is your fucking problem?"
Hearing him mention that he was buying the dress for his girlfriend, Devin relaxed a little but was soon uncomfortable and threatened,
"If I find out that you have ulterior motives, you will need surgery to fix your pretty face."
Daniel laughed and mocked, "I never thought I was so handsome enough to be called pretty. For some reason, I would have said you were gay, but you look like a straight guy. Anyway, what did I do to you?"
"You are a friend of Robin, and that is why I hate you," Devin snarled, and Daniel shook his head. He was not going to deny Robin for anything in the world but only felt that Daniel was being childish and illogical.
"Then you are being unreasonable, and what if I like your sister? Will you marry her?" Daniel said in a taunting tone. Indeed, Devin was not going to marry any of his sisters, and they were all past twenty. One was single, and the other one was divorced.
Daniel’s question seemed to have hit Devin’s sore spot as he analyzed everything Daniel said and yelled,
"Get out!"
Daniel maintained his calm and remarked, "I was already on my way out, but you are blocking my path."
Devin moved away and gritted his teeth while he looked at Lizzy, "What did he want?" He asked after Daniel left.
"A dress for his girlfriend to use for the party," Lizzy explained, but Devin was still feeling uneasy about the whole thing and asked again,
"Has he made payment?"
"Hundred percent, and he wants it delivered by me, so he added some extra," Lizzy explained in detail. An idea popped into Devin’s mind, and he smiled, saying,
"I would like to see the dress when it’s ready."
"Sure," Lizzy agreed when Devin walked closer and said,
"I wanted to talk to you about some new clients."
"Okay, sit and let’s talk," Lizzy gazed at the chair Daniel stood from a while ago.
In the middle of their discussion, Devin’s phone rang, and seeing the caller ID to be Sabrina, he excused himself and answered it.
"Sabrina, are you alright?" Devin asked worriedly.
"No. I’m feeling some strange pains, so I want to go to the hospital," Sabrina said weakly. Devin was more disturbed.
Sabrina hardly fell sick and hardly complained. Even when told to go for a checkup, she was always the one brushing it away.
"But your next antenatal appointment is in a few days, right?" Devin asked seriously, wondering why she was feeling that way all of a sudden.
"Right but I don’t want to wait till then. What if it turns out to be something serious and I’m not able to make it to the party? I don’t want to disappoint Matilda," Sabrina said, sounding tired and pained.
It was as if going to the hospital was more because of Matilda than the pains she was feeling. Sabrina was back to her usual selfless self. It was only when she married Robin, that she put him above everyone else.
"Alright, I will come and take you to the hospital." Devin was already up on his feet when Sabrina countered,
"I was going to tell you that I am calling Martin to go with me. Just in case some pictures are taken again."
She realized this morning, a little bump which was not visible in the dresses she wore, and knew that very soon, it would grow bigger.
The more she was seen in public with Martin, the easier it would be for people to believe he was the father of her child
"Alright, call him but if he’s busy, I will go with you. I don’t care what anyone thinks or says, okay?" Devin said seriously.
His sister’s life mattered to him more than any cover she wanted to maintain.
"Okay," Sabrina agreed.
Devin was back to his meeting with Lizzy when Sabrina called again "Devin, "he’s not answering. I guess he’s busy."
"Then I’m coming right now." He turned to Lizzy and said, "I have to take Sabrina to the hospital so please take care of everything."
"Alright let me know how it goes," Lizzy agreed and spoke. If it got serious, she was sure to join them at the hospital when her father picked her up after work.
At Robin’s office, he was in a very important meeting when Daniel called. At first, he wanted to ignore him due to the intensity of the meeting but then again, Daniel’s calls were always important.
"Excuse me, gentlemen, I will take this call," he said and answered the phone.
"Daniel, I’m in a meeting. Can it wait?" Robin asked solemnly but was stricken with anxiety at Daniel’s direct response,
"I just got information that Sabrina is ill and on her way to the hospital."
"What? Which one?" Robin panicked. He was also disturbed.
"Her usual one since it’s close to her office," Daniel revealed.
There was nothing more important to Robin at this moment than Sabrina, who hardly falls sick, to be so sick that she had to be rushed to the hospital. Also, she was pregnant.
"Thank you for telling me." Robin hangs up, looks at the executives and says, "I’m sorry, I have an emergency. I will tell Aria to reschedule this meeting."
While the executives wallowed in confusion for being left in the middle of a meeting after coming from afar, Robin ran out of the office as if he was being chased by a lion.
Chapter 94: Chapter 94 - Everyone, get out! I want to speak to Sabrina alone
Devin was driving Sabrina to the hospital when her phone rang. It was Martin. "Sabrina, I’m sorry my phone was on silent. I was in a meeting," he apologized, fearing that something was wrong.
Sabrina’s pains were not intense, but she feared it might affect her unborn child, for which reason she decided to see the doctor, coupled with not wanting to disappoint Matilda.
"Martin, it’s alright. I wanted you to take me to the hospital, but Devin is already here," she explained weakly.
She has also been feeling fatigued a lot lately but hearing the hospital, Martin was incredibly worried.
"What is wrong? I thought your antenatal was on Friday?"
"Yes, but I don’t feel good, so I decided to go today," Sabrina informed him.
Afraid that it might be more serious than she was making it seem, Martin could not stay back.
"I’m still coming over," he said seriously, not giving room for her to refuse.
"No problem," Sabrina agreed. It still served her purpose if Martin was there for her.
Devin almost reached the Doctor’s office before Martin got there, but he did not feel like leaving Sabrina when she was unwell and still joined them at the doctor’s office.
"What is the matter, Miss James," the doctor asked with a sweet smile. Sabrina forced a smile and explained,
"I feel pains in my stomach. It’s not intense, but it’s still uncomfortable."
The doctor frowned a little. Pregnant women were delicate, and even the strongest of women could break down in times of pregnancy.
"Did you eat something bad?" She asked seriously.
Sabrina raked her mind, recounting all she had eaten since yesterday, and shook her head, "No."
"Alright. We shall run some lab tests, and while we wait for the results, I’ll do a scan to check the condition of the baby," the doctor explained calmly.
Sabrina nodded her head, removed her jacket, and was only in her office shirt, for which she rolled up the sleeves for her blood sample to be taken. The doctor called one of the nurses and gave her the sample to be taken to the lab.
"Please come to the bed, Miss James," the doctor wore a pair of gloves and spoke. Sabrina did as told, and the doctor did some physical examinations while asking, "Do you feel any pain?"
Sabrina shook her head,"No."
"Then I will do the scan now," the doctor said and lifted the hem of her shirt to expose her stomach. As the cold gel of the scanner touched her abdomen, the door of the consultation room opened, but everyone’s attention was on the scan, as they thought it was the nurse.
It was only after the door closed for a while and manly footsteps were heard that their attention shifted to see Robin standing there with his eyes glued to the screen where the scan was displayed.
Sabrina froze, Martin had a scowl on his face, and Devin was almost bursting with anger. The doctor was Devin’s friend and had already been warned. She also knew Robin, though not as a friend, so she said calmly,
"Mr. Jewel, you have to excuse us. I guess you are in the wrong consultation room."
Robin gave the doctor no attention as his eyes remained glued to the screen where the scan was displayed.
"Get the fuck out of here, Robin," Devin yelled when he saw where Robin’s eyes trailed. Martin was furious but could not utter a word due to the secret Robin knew about him.
Sabrina already had tears in her eyes, not believing that this was happening. Robin’s eyes were still only glued to the screen as if he did not hear what anyone was saying.
Even though he suspected it and Matilda confirmed it, seeing it with his eyes awoke emotions in him that he never felt before.
"You are pregnant," he said in a daze. The joy he felt was immeasurable. It was nothing like what he felt when Zayla told him she was pregnant for him.
He arrived before the trio but hid from their view. He suspected that the doctor might try to cover up and planned to walk in during the scan, which he did after seeing a nurse walk out of the ward with a blood sample.
Sabrina quickly covered her stomach after recovering from the shock, "What nonsense are you talking about? I’m not pregnant," she said defiantly.
She could not allow Robin close to her for any reason, and she had to do everything possible to prevent it from happening.
Robin was calm and responded with confirmation, "You are. I already saw it."
Robin’s eyes were still glued to the screen, which had been paused when the doctor removed the scanner from Sabrina’s stomach. The image looked exactly like what he saw with Zayla’s scan results, and he remembered the explanations quite well.
With Zayla, he never got the chance to see it on the screen like this, as the result was only printed and given to him when he stepped out to answer a call.
Sabrina knew she couldn’t deny it anymore, but her anger arose, "And what if I am? It has nothing to do with you." Fury laced her voice while she spoke and Robin felt his heart aching even more.
It was painful that Sabrina wanted to keep his child away from him.
"Oh yes it does," he said calmly before looking around. His anger boiled at the sight of Martin and he yelled,
"Everyone, get out! I want to speak to Sabrina alone."
Martin was burning from rage. He knew that Robin would use this opportunity to constantly be in Sabrina’s life and ruin things for him. He could not allow it and growled,
"I won’t get out. The child she’s carrying is mine!"
"Hahahaha," Robin laughed. He was expecting it. He glared at Martin coldly and retorted sarcastically, "are you even man enough?"
"Robin, don’t get me angry. You know what I can do," Devin snarled. Robin looked at him and smiled as he addressed him,
"Brother-in-law, this is a hospital but for the sake of your pregnant sister, can we have some peace?" The trio froze instantly.
Chapter 95: Chapter 95 - I don’t want my child to share his or her father with another woman
The consultation room was silent as Robin laughed in his heart at their shocked expressions. It was a confirmation of what he thought from the moment he saw Sabrina at the hospital for the first time, that she was trying to keep something away from him.
He stared at Devin, but his gaze was not cold, and neither was it warm. "You are surprised that I found out. Don’t mess with me, Devin. I won’t fight with you for the sake of Sabrina."
Then he turned to Martin, and his gaze turned cold as he addressed him, "And as for you, fake boyfriend, get out!"
Sabrina’s eyes were teary. She had her freedom and could not let it be taken away by Robin again. His presence brought her pain, and she did not want him in her life.
Accepting Robin would mean accepting Zayla as well, and Sabrina did not want to entertain or imagine it.
"Robin, he is not my fake boyfriend. He is my boyfriend, and he stays," Sabrina said, and Robin responded sternly,
"You are pregnant for me, and I don’t want another man around my child."
Sabrina smiled, but it was a bitter one. As usual, Robin would always want to control her and everyone around her. That domineering attitude she found attractive before due to the blindness of her love for him was now a pain in the ass for her.
"Robin, the child is not yours," Sabrina blinked and said softly. Robin scoffed before he glared at the doctor and instructed,
"Do the scan again, and don’t try to mess up the result, or I will not only mess up your life but your entire medical career."
The doctor gulped. Indeed, lying about a patient’s medical condition was against the law, so Robin could indeed mess up her life, and Devin would not be able to save her because of all the power Robin has in New York City.
She obediently lifted Sabrina’s shirt and began the scan all over, under Robin’s watchful gaze, while Robin asked, "How many months?"
The doctor locked eyes with Sabrina, and her gaze was pleading. She wanted to help, but that could also end her career. She stared at Sabrina apologetically and said to Robin,
"Two months. Nine weeks to be precise."
Robin’s heart warmed, and he was elated at the confirmation. However, he hid the excitement cruising through his heart while he addressed Sabrina’s remark about him not being the father of her child.
"Sabrina, we divorced a month ago, so how did Martin’s father have a two-month pregnancy?"
No number of lies could get Sabrina out of this because Robin was just too smart to toil with. Sabrina’s eyes were moist with her voice pleading,
"Robin, you already have a child growing in Zayla’s womb. Please, just let me have this child. It’s all I want. You can have the villa back."
Sabrina did not care about protecting the villa anymore. Even if he would give it to Zayla, all she wanted was a peaceful life with her child, but Robin was not ready to listen. He said seriously,
"Now that you admitted the child is mine, we have to talk. Everyone, excuse us."
His gaze remained on Sabrina while he addressed everyone else. Within a few seconds, only two people remained in the doctor’s office.
Sabrina descended from the bed and sat on a chair while Robin sat where Devin had sat before.
It felt as if all the pain Sabrina felt disappeared from the pressure of Robin’s presence in the consultation room, and minutes of silence passed as Robin watched the woman who had been his wife for the past three years.
"Why, Sabrina, what did I do to you?" He asked seriously, but unknowingly, he only arose her anger as she barked,
"Don’t make it look as if you don’t know."
"Well, then tell me. I never wanted a divorce," Robin stated the fact and Sabrina laughed bitterly. Now that he knew that the child she was carrying was his, she could no longer cower in fear but stand up for herself and her unborn child.
"But you granted it."
"Because you did not want to live with Zayla," Robin recalled, earning a zeal of annoyance from Sabrina.
Robin was so shameless that he was telling her something like this like it was a normal thing to do, and she could not see herself enduring it anymore.
"Robin, you were never a good husband. You caused me so much pain, but I always tried to keep your home. I was trying to give you a family whiles you kept fucking everything in pants."
Her words felt like bullets to his chest, but he endured it calmly, accepting that it was all his fault. "But you never complained."
"Could it have made a difference?" Sabrina asked, wondering if nagging would have bettered her marriage.
She laughed sarcastically, knowing that no marital problem was ever solved with nagging.
"Maybe, but let’s assume that I was a terrible husband...."
"We are not assuming. That is what you were," Sabrina cut him off and started. Robin was shocked by how she had changed.
Sabrina was a submissive wife and had never talked back to him before. She would always do any and everything just to make him happy, but she was speaking now as a woman scorned.
"It still does not give you the right to keep my child away from me. I deserved to know. I had the right to decide if I wanted to be a part of his or her life or not," Robin stated his point.
He must have been a bad husband, but he knew in his heart that he would be a wonderful father.
"Well, I don’t want my child to share his or her father with another woman. It would be better if he or she never had a father than to keep competing for his attention," Sabrina stated her stand in a bid to bargain with him.
Perhaps if she made it very difficult for him, he would see the reason to let her go.
