Ch. 1201..1210
Chapter 1201
Dazed and bleeding, Blake noticed Cecilia in a slit dress sitting elegantly on a couch with a glass of red wine in her hand, as if she had been anticipating this moment.
Cecilia put down her foot and leaned over with a grace that concealed her malicious intent. She lifted Blake’s chin with her red-nailed finger, as Blake struggled to maintain consciousness, her mind reeling.
“Poor thing, bleeding already? Let me help disinfect that wound,” Cecilia said in a sinister tone, her eyes turning cold as she poured the red wine over Blake’s bleeding forehead. The stinging pain caused Blake to struggle.
“Still trying to struggle? Hold her down!” Cecilia commanded.
Two burly men stepped forward, pinning Blake’s legs down with their feet. In agony, Blake screamed, “Ms. Samford, what are you doing? I haven’t wronged you. Why are you doing this?”
Cecilia’s eyes sparkled with sadistic pleasure. “Blake, are you really that naive, or just pretending? You chose to oppose me instead of following my path. I even gave you three chances, yet you still insist on thwarting my plans. Don’t even dream of leaving here alive today?”
Enjoying her control, Cecilia taunted, ” I wonder, does Madelyn know you’re in danger? Why don’t you call her and see if she comes to save you?”
Realizing the futility of pretending, Blake faced Cecilia defiantly. “This is a lawful society, Ms. Samford. I’ve informed someone that if I’m not released within half an hour, the police will be notified, and you’ll be accused of kidnapping.”
Cecilia chuckled, “Not bad, so you do have some brains after all. But don’t worry, I have plenty of time. These men haven’t touched a woman in a while, and you seem to be exactly their type.”
With a flick, Cecilia released Blake’s hair, leaving her weakened on the floor. As the men approached with leering smiles, Blake tried to escape but was grabbed and shoved onto the ground.
“Don’t worry, ma’am. We know how to handle stubborn women,” one of the men said to Cecilia.
Cecilia poured another glass of wine, sipping leisurely. “Be careful not to kill her. I still have plans for her.”
She recorded a video of Blake and sent it to a familiar number, with a voice message, “If you want her to live, tell me where Zach’s will is within a minute. Otherwise, the fun begins.”
Cecilia, an expert in exploiting weaknesses, laughed arrogantly and watched Blake struggle in vain as the men tore off her clothes. Within minutes, Blake’s face was bruised, blood trickling from her mouth.
“Blake, I actually had a good impression of you, you know. If you’d chosen my side from the start, I could’ve given you anything, even Kevin or a deputy CEO position at Jardin Corporation,” said Cecilia.
Suddenly, one of the men shouted, Urgh! You bit me! You’re asking for it!” 11
Blake, kicked in the chest, spat out blood. The blows kept coming, and in her mind, she was haunted by a terrible memory.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1202 by Max Charming
After the brutal torture, Blake lay on the ground, barely clinging to life, her eyes closed in exhaustion. She coughed up blood and eventually lost consciousness.
As time passed, Cecilia grew impatient after not receiving the response she expected. Standing up, she stepped on Blake’s chest and began taking pictures of the injured Blake on the ground.
An overweight man commented, “This woman’s tough. She didn’t beg for mercy even once. But if she dies, we’ll be in some legal trouble, ma’am.”
“Don’t worry, she’s not dead yet,” Cecilia reassured him.
At that moment, a skinny man received an urgent message. “We’ve got a traitor among us. Our location’s been leaked to the police, and they’re on their way.”
With the police closing in, the criminals, who were already on the wanted list, began to panic.
“You guys take her with you,” Cecilia ordered, still hoping Kevin wouldn’t abandon Blake.
In a cold, damp basement, Blake lay unconscious, tasting a bitter flavor in her mouth as she drifted in and out of consciousness. She had been comatose for three days. The men Cecilia sent had force-fed her some medication, but her condition hadn’t improved. Despite the blankets, an unrelenting chill pervaded her body.
A man, frustrated at the sight of the half-dead Blake, took a swig of liquor and smashed the glass in anger. “Damn it! Cecilia just dumped her here, that wretched woman. If this one dies, she’ll get away clean.”
“Boss, if it comes to that, we should drop her off at a hospital. Cecilia hasn’t paid us, and we’re stuck caring for this sick girl. It’s not worth it! We’d better not get played by that damn woman,” another man suggested.
The leader waved dismissively. “Fine. Tonight, we’ll dump her at the hospital. After that, her fate is her own.
At 2 a.m., under a storm-threatening sky, a white van stopped and discarded Blake, treated like trash, on the road near a hospital.
Exiting the hospital, Olivia assisted Liam, who had been hospitalized for overwork and a stomach bleed. Despite their recent argument over copyright issues, Olivia could not abandon her longtime friend and successful author.
“Where’s your assistant? Why have you been working alone?” Olivia inquired.
“Thanks for your help,” Liam replied, withdrawing his hand and walking slowly.
Olivia joked, “How about a ten-year copyright deal as a thank you?”
“Okay,” Liam agreed without hesitation.
“Really?” Olivia expressed her surprise. “I’ll have them prepare the contract renewal right away.”
She immediately called her office to prepare the contract renewal, knowing that everyone was driven by benefits, and Liam could not refuse after Olivia’s support.
Suddenly, Liam noticed a figure lying on the ground. Olivia tried to dissuade him, “That looks like a victim of the mafia. It’s best not to get involved.”
Liam replied coldly, “You don’t have to follow, then.”
Approaching the figure, he froze.” Blake?”
Shortly thereafter, an emergency team quickly arrived, rushing Blake to the emergency room.
Chapter 1203
Blake, drifting in and out of consciousness, felt a warm hand holding hers. When she finally opened her eyes, the blurred figure of a man hovered over her, his features indistinct.
As Blake was rushed into the emergency room, Olivia stood beside Liam, who appeared visibly pale and concerned. Olivia said, “Don’t worry, she’ll be okay. Liam, you don’t look so good. Are you alright?”
Liam, clutching his stomach and leaning against a wall, suddenly collapsed.
“Liam!” Olivia exclaimed in alarm.
In a lawless region of Northern Myanmar, Kevin found himself in a familiar location.
“Kevin, news from Ventropolis. Blake is safe and has been taken to the hospital, one of his men reported, showing him a photo.
Kevin glanced at the photo and, while wiping a cold steel dagger, ordered, ” These are no longer needed here. Dispose of them.”
“Right away.” one of Kevin’s men responded.
The setting sun cast a golden glow over the reed-filled pond and stilt houses, creating a picturesque yet dangerously deceptive scene. The area, known for its tranquility and beauty, also harbored unseen threats. Kevin had always known he could not offer Blake a stable life. Choosing Liam seemed to be her destiny.
Three days later, Blake awoke to find Liam watching over her with concern.” You’re awake? I’ll get the doctor.”
The doctor confirmed that she was out of danger. Overwhelmed by her ordeal, Blake cried silently, inconsolable.
“It’s okay, you’re safe now. No one will ever hurt you again,” Liam reassured her, but Blake cried herself back to sleep.
Liam realized he could not involve the police yet. He needed to fully understand the situation to seek justice for Blake.
Back at Jardin Corporation, Susan brought a confidential document to Cecilia. “Ms. Samford, someone insisted this be delivered directly to you.”
Cecilia, still frustrated that her plans for Blake had been thwarted, dismissed Susan and opened the document. To her surprise, it contained details about Blake’s adoption procedures, including a photo of a six-year-old Blake.
“That’s…my sister!”
Chapter 1204
Eventually, Blake regained consciousness. She had suffered severe internal bleeding, and her condition had been critical. If her injuries had been slightly more severe, she might not have survived.
Liam had stayed by her side at the hospital, aiding her recovery. He had not disclosed the full extent of
her injuries to her, wanting to shield her from further trauma.
The sun shone brightly as Liam wheeled Blake outside to enjoy it.
Since waking up, she had not spoken a word, her usually lively and cheerful demeanor replaced by silence, a change that weighed heavily on Liam.Kneeling in front of Blake, who looked pale and haggard, Liam gently rearranged her windblown hair.
“Blake, you can talk to me about anything. It would be better if you said something. I’m really worried
about you not eating or talking.”
Blake hadn’t eaten the nutritious soup Liam prepared for her, prompting him to resort to feeding her nutrient solutions. Her noticeable weight loss was a source of distress for Liam.
Suddenly, Blake’s gaze shifted. Following her line of sight, Liam saw Cecilia approaching with a bouquet of flowers and gifts. As Cecilia drew near, Blake met her eyes silently through her sunglasses.
Finally, Blake spoke, “Ms. Samford. Sorry to disappoint you by not dying.”
Cecilia, taken aback, struggled to speak. “What do you want from me? I’ll give it to you. I searched the entire city for these bellflowers…”
Cecilia reached out, but Blake swatted her hand away. “What new method of torture have you thought of, Ms. Samford? I don’t know where Kevin is or what you want. I have only my life left to give you.
Go ahead and take it.”
Liam, understanding the implications behind Blake’s words, frowned.
“Let’s go, Liam. I don’t want to see her,” Blake said.
As Blake and Liam departed, Cecilia stood there, her bodyguards picking up the discarded flowers. She had never felt so publicly humiliated.
“Deliver these to her room, whether she accepts them or not,” Cecilia instructed her bodyguards.
“Yes, Ms. Samford,” they replied.
Left alone, Cecilia gazed at the wilted flowers in her hand, a symbol of her failed attempt at reconciliation. She thought, ‘I’m sorry. I should have recognized you sooner. Your actions, your words, they reminded me of when you were lost as a child. If I’d investigated your identity earlier, none of this would have happened.’
The bellflowers had been Blake’s favorite since childhood, valued not just for their beauty but also for their medicinal properties. Cecilia remembered their days of collecting these flowers to sell when they could not afford food, barely managing to scrape by. Most of their meals consisted of scraps and wild vegetables. In winter, they collected firewood to sell.
Blake used to follow Cecilia everywhere. Despite their difficult life, Cecilia found solace in Blake’s smile.
Those moments had made all the hardships bearable, just for the sake of seeing Blake smile again.
Chapter 1205
After Blake had gone missing as a child, Cecilia focused all her efforts on earning more money to bolster her family’s financial background. This had allowed her to hire more people to search for Blake’s whereabouts. Over the years, despite no news of her sister, Cecilia never stopped searching, hoping to at least find out whether her sister was alive or dead.
In the hospital ward, Blake lay on the bed, muttering weakly, “Close the door, I don’t want to see them.”
“Alright. I’ll send them away. You rest here, and we’ll eat something later,” Liam responded.
Blake was in a VIP hospital ward. Outside in the main hall, the bodyguard arranged everything neatly on the dining table.
Cecilia waited just outside the door.
Liam approached Cecilia and confronted her, “I never thought you of all people would be the one who hurt her like this! How could you do this to her? She may be a bit stubborn, but Blake has never even spoken badly of you!”
Cecilia signaled for the bodyguards to leave, then turned to Liam. “Do you truly care about her?” she asked.
Liam replied cautiously, “Ms. Samford, are you planning to harm me too?” His expression hardened.
Cecilia sighed, “It seems I’m cruel and ruthless in your eyes.”
Suddenly, she removed her sunglasses, revealing bloodshot eyes with dark circles under them, catching Liam off guard.
“I guess there’s no harm in telling you. I recently discovered Blake is my little sister who got lost and was kidnapped when we were kids,” Cecilia disclosed.
Liam, shocked by the revelation, questioned, “Are you regretting your actions now? The past can’t be undone. Ms. Samford, have you considered, if Blake was a stranger to you, would you be acting this way?”
Cecilia paused, then replied coldly, “I’ve investigated your background. You’re the only son of the Secretary-General, and your childhood illness required expensive surgery. What, did you think the funds for it appeared out of nowhere? If not for your father agreeing to a marriage in exchange for money, would you be alive today? You were given a way out, but we, the less fortunate, do not have such luxuries. If I hadn’t been ruthless, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have now.
Liam, realizing that Cecilia was right and his medical expenses as a child had been funded by his father’s actions, clenched his fists, emotions swirling.
Cecilia continued, “The whole reason I worked my way up was so that I could find her one day. I don’t know what my sister endured or why she was adopted by the Dion family, but now that I know, I want to make amends. You can tell Blake what I said, or not. But ultimately, she’s a Samford by blood, just like me.”
After sharing her story, Cecilia gave Liam her unsolicited advice. “I believe in your genuine feelings for Blake. More than Kevin, I hope you and Blake can be together. Your status provides security for her future. If Kevin ever becomes a hindrance, I’ll help remove him to ensure Blake’s safety and happiness. She’ll never need to know.”
Chapter 1206
“Removing him? What does human life mean to you, Ms. Samford? We live in a society governed by law. Do you understand the implications of your words?” Liam challenged.
Cecilia remained composed. “Do you think your father is innocent? Ask him what it means to clash with the powerful in this society. He might have more insight than me. Liam, there are countless hands manipulating things above us.”
Cecilia offered one final piece of advice, “Kevin and Zach are cut from the same cloth. List their crimes, and they’d be imprisoned indefinitely. You’ll learn more once you assume your father’s position.”
After a final glance at the closed door, Cecilia declared, “That’s all I have to say. Take good care of Blake. I’ll visit her tomorrow.”
At that moment, Blake weakly emerged from the ward, leaning against the wall.
“Blake…” Liam rushed to her aid, but she avoided him.
Blake, with a questioning gaze, turned to Cecilia. “So, your plan all along was to bring down Mr. Jardin and Kevin, then take over the company? Even so, you shouldn’t have targeted Kevin’s life! I have no memory of my childhood. I’ve been with the Dion family for as long as I can remember. I have no connection to you, and I’m not your lost sister.”
Blake had overheard everything from inside the ward and realized Liam’s identity. All she could think of was to escape, she did not want to stay there another moment.
Blake, where are you going?” Liam asked, following her.
“Don’t touch me,” Blake’ said, her mind in turmoil. “Liam, I’m sorry! I need to be alone. I want to go home.”
Liam, concerned for her safety, insisted, “It’s not safe for you to go alone. I’ll take you home.”
Blake hurriedly left, ignoring everyone.
Cecilia signaled her bodyguards to discreetly follow Blake. When Blake entered the elevator, she fainted.
“Blake!” Cecilia rushed over with a complex expression, but her bodyguards were quicker, preventing the elevator doors from closing.
Liam moved to help Blake, but Cecilia intervened, “You don’t need to do anything more. I will take her home. Mr. Xander, you should return to your duties. I was considering shutting down StartReading Literature, but for Blake’s sake, I’ll give you more time.”
Liam argued, “She should return to her family.”
Cecilia countered, “What for? What good are they? She should bear the Samford name.”
Samford was Cecilia’s mother’s maiden name. Growing up, Cecilia’s father had been an abusive alcoholic and gambler. Her mother, a weak woman, had died from domestic violence while protecting Blake. Her father, favoring sons, would have left Cecilia unnamed and unregistered if not for the intervention of the other villagers in their community.
After her mother’s death, Cecilia’s father remarried and began treating Cecilia and Blake worse, until eventually they could bear it no longer and escaped. The two of them barely managed to scrape by, but they were just happy to be free from being abused every day.
Cecilia recalled a cold autumn when she had been ill and Blake, trying to care for her, had stolen a sweet potato from a field. However, she had been caught and beaten, and had no choice but to clutch the sweet potato and run home, providing the only food they had.
Chapter 1207
From that moment, Cecilia vowed to tirelessly accumulate wealth to ensure a better life for Blake. Now with substantial financial resources, Cecilia believed Blake no longer needed to depend on the Dion family. She could provide Blake with a superior life, offering her whatever she desired. Everything she owned would be at Blake’s disposal.
With the unconscious Blake in tow, Cecilia made her way to her car. Blake lay in the minivan, covered with a blanket, while Cecilia tenderly held her hand, her eyes filled with regret as she observed the wounds on her arm.
“Drive slowly,” Cecilia instructed the driver.
“Yes, Ms. Samford,” the driver responded.
Cecilia’s residence, valued at eight billion dollars, was the m luxurious villa in the capital. It boasted the highest-class but service, ten housemaids, and lavish amenities including a gar bellflowers, towering trees, a swing garden, a pavilion, and a for However, Cecilia rarely spent time there.
She had prepared a room on the second floor according to Blake preferences, equipped with cartoon character dolls and a three-mete princess bed. Blake was placed on the princess bed, and Cecilia summoned a family doctor. Upon arrival, the doctor diagnosed, “This lady has some internal injuries and bruises, likely from being beaten.”
“I don’t need a diagnosis. Just prescribe the best medicine for her to recover quickly,” Cecilia demanded.
“Right away, Ms. Samford,” the doctor replied, prescribing several medicines and ointments for her injuries and internal bleeding.
Blake’s weakness was primarily due to not eating for several days. The maid had prepared butternut squash soup, and Cecilia, noticing Blake showing signs of consciousness, gently fed her the soup. Thankfully, Blake managed to drink a little.
Cecilia carefully wiped Blake’s mouth with a tissue as she spilled some soup.
“Blake, you’ll feel better in a few days. I’m sorry for everything I’ve done. As long as you recover, I promise to do anything for you,’ Cecilia whispered.
Blake, feverish, slept throughout the night with Cecilia vigilantly by her side. When Cecilia’s phone rang, she walked to the window to answer
An angry voice on the phone accused, “You damn b*tch, we di you wanted and you didn’t pay us a single penny. You even calle police and abandoned us after you were done using us.”
Cecilia ended the call emotionlessly and, after a pause, dialed another number. The person on the other end quickly picked up.
“Were you the one who got the police to arrest them?!” Cecilia inquired.
Liam, clad in pajamas and sitting in front of a laptop, removed his silver-framed glasses and peered out the window. “Anything concerning Blake is my business. I’ll ensure she gets justice for her injuries. You and I are not the same kind of people, and we will never be,” he declared.
Chapter 1208
Liam ended the call and turned to gaze out the window into the pitch-black night, dense with darkness. He had simply acted on his conscience. He thought to himself, ‘Blake, I just hope you’re okay.’
The next morning, Blake awoke in an unfamiliar, dreamlike room. The fairy- like curtains and dolls around her bed seemed to fulfill every girl’s childhood fantasies. Confused, she realized this was not the Harper residence.
Sitting up, Blake tried to grasp her bearings. She wondered, ‘Where am I?’
A few minutes later, Cecilia entered the room with a bowl of soup. “You’re awake? You haven’t eaten in days. Have some butternut squash soup first. Liam said he would come to see you soon.”
Cecilia sat beside the bed, but Blake swatted the bowl away, spilling soup on the imported Italian carpet. Despite that, Cecilia gently brushed Blake’s hair aside. “It’s okay if you don’t like it. The maid has prepared more.”
“Who said you could bring me here?” Blake demanded coldly.
Cecilia replied as she adjusted the blanket, “This is your home. You can have whatever you want here. Here’s a debit card with all the money I’ve saved for you. If it’s not enough, ask me for more. You’ll live with me from now on.”
Blake interrupted, “I don’t want to live with you. My name is Blake Dion. I am a Dion, not a Samford. I am not your sister, and I will never acknowledge someone like you as my sister.”
Standing up, Blake moved to leave. Cecilia did not stop her but explained, ”
The bodyguards are at the main gate.
You can’t leave until you accept your identity. Then you’ll be free to come and go. There are two DNA test reports by your bed. Check for yourself whether you are a Dion or a Samford.”
Cecilia continued, trying to evoke emotions, “I know you must have suffered a lot, which is why you forgot everything. We lived in Spiralfield, in the countryside. Our mother was gentle but was killed by our father while protecting you. We only had each other. When I was sick, you would catch fish and pick wild mushrooms, cooking meals for me.”
Blake, overwhelmed and agitated, covered her ears and yelled, “Enough! I don’t believe any of it. It’s all lies.”
Blake saw the documents on the bedside table and tore them to shreds.
Cecilia calmly stood, picking up the bowl, “Whether you accept it or not, we share the same blood. I’m off to work now. I’ll have the servants bring you some food. You can take the time to calm down.”
Chapter 1209
After Cecilia departed, Blake, overwhelmed, grabbed her hair and squatted on the floor, murmuring in disbelief, “Impossible. It’s not true. It’s all a lie.”
About fifteen minutes later, a maid knocked on the door. “Ms. Dion, Mr. Xander is here to see you.”
Blake, with swollen eyes, looked up as the maid opened the door. Liam entered, immediately rushing to the distraught Blake on the floor and shut the door, disregarding the maids outside.
“Blake, are you alright?” Liam embraced her, trying to comfort her.
Overcome with emotion, Blake clung to Liam’s arm, tears streaming down her face. “Liam, tell me this is a lie, right? I’m not Cecilia’s biological sister, not her sister at all. This is just a dream, isn’t it?”
Liam, struggling to contain his emotions, assured her, “Blake, nobody can force you to accept something you don’t want. You’re still the same Blake. Your parents are still your parents. I’ve contacted them; they wouldn’t abandon you.”
Blake sobbed uncontrollably, “Are you telling the truth? They wouldn’t abandon me?”
Liam nodded affirmatively, “Yes.”
He gently helped her to the bed, tenderly wiping her tears away. “Blake, nothing has really changed. You’re still… my assistant. Let’s forget these bad memories, okay?”
Blake, somewhat reassured by his words, nodded with a faint smile. ”
Okay. I don’t want to stay here. Can you take me home? I want to go to my aunt’s house.”
After Blake changed clothes, Liam prepared to take her away, but they were initially stopped by the bodyguards. Liam made a call, and shortly after, the bodyguards received instructions to let them leave.
They reached the Harper residence without delay. Eagerly stepping into the foyer, Blake was startled to see two women and two middle-aged men in the living room. She stood frozen, unable to believe the scene before her.
Mya, holding a dish from the kitchen, exclaimed, “Wow, this beef stew smells amazing!”
Noticing Blake at the door, Mya’s eyes brightened, “Blake, you’re back?”
“We have delicious beef stew today! Come in quickly,” Mya said, beckoning her inside.
Chapter 1210
“Blake.”
At the sound of this long-missed voice, a torrent of tears broke from Blake. She rushed forward, her arms enveloping the woman before her in a desperate embrace. “Mom!” she cried.
Hannah Sutton, her own eyes shimmering with unshed tears, held her daughter close. Years had passed since they last saw each other. “Why the tears, Blake? I’m here now, aren’t I? Let me look at you,” she whispered, a tremble in her voice.
Blake, her face a canvas of distress, looked up.
“You’ve grown even more beautiful,” Hannah observed softly, her fingers tenderly brushing Blake’s hair.
Yael Dion, his presence a mix of authority and warmth, joined them.”
Calling only for your mother, Blake? Have you forgotten your dad?”
Between sobs and laughter, Blake retorted, “Dad! How can you say that? You never responded to my messages.”
Yael, a leading academician in a research institute, was vital to many experiments. Even so, he had not forgotten about his daughter. He pulled out a bracelet made from valuable aerospace materials from his pocket and said, “I was in a rush and forgot to package it, but here you go.”
Blake, her reluctance palpable, accepted the gift. “This isn’t enough to earn my forgiveness,” she teased, a smile breaking through her tears.
“Next time, I want ten,” Blake added.
Yael laughed heartily, “As many as you want. This thing is priceless, not available to just anyone.”
Blake wiped away her tears, turning to Liam. “My parents are here, and you said nothing?”
Hannah, wiping the corner of her eye, said, “Liam wanted to surprise you. You haven’t been home for so many days. Don’t bother Liam too much. He’s very busy and can’t afford to indulge your whims.”
Blake pondered silently, ‘Mom doesn’t know about my hospital stay. Thankfully, I’ve healed a lot since then.’
Hannah’s voice brought her back. “I’ve made your favorite dish. Let me get it for you.”
Liam, intending to leave, was persuaded to stay for the meal. The two families sat together for dinner, with Mya sitting across from Blake, offering her a chicken drumstick, “Blake, don’t cry. Here, this is for you.”
“And this buffalo wing is for you,” Mya said, handing one to Liam.
Liam smiled and thanked Mya.
Blake, having not eaten properly for days, suddenly regained her appetite. Liam served her some soup to start with. Blake and Mya, both food enthusiasts, had different physiques. Blake could eat a lot without gaining weight, unlike Mya who seemed to have put on some weight recently. Knowing their appetites, the meal prepared was plentiful.
Hannah served Liam thoughtfully, “I heard you’re working at Jardin Corporation? How’s work?”
Liam responded respectfully, “Yes, it’s going well. Blake has been a great help as my assistant at the company.”
Hannah proudly added, “Blake has always been a bit of a troublemaker, but academically, she’s never disappointed me.”
Mya, enjoying her meal, added, “Yeah, Blake’s the best.”
After dinner, Liam received a phone call and stepped away. Hannah and Blake decided to have a conversation in Blake’s room.
