The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 391

Kai left after dropping his remark. Zach stared at his departing figure and felt somewhat displeased. Hearing Kai’s words, Jadie felt unease. Zach… why were you talking about Madelyn? What happened to her?”

Zach cleared his throat, feeling the pain in his stomach again. He didn’t want anyone to see him in this miserable state.

Back when Madelyn used to be around, he rarely felt this kind of pain. She would go to great lengths to make him drink less. She was practically glued to him all the time. Whether it was during work or social events, even if he had a drink with a potential client, she would scold that potential client to make sure he drank less. Sometimes, her actions even cost him potential clients, and Hayson punished her for it. And for every meal, be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, she would personally bring it to him.

Since Madelyn stopped pestering him, he always felt like something was missing. Zach replied, “It’s nothing. Why aren’t you resting at this hour?”

Jadie felt uneasy because Zach was clearly keeping something from her. But when she saw him like this, she didn’t press further. She adjusted his blanket and lowered her head, saying, I had a nightmare and couldn’t sleep, so I came out for a walk.”

Zach gently patted her head to comfort her. “Go back to your room and get some rest. Aren’t you going back to school tomorrow?”

“How about I feed you some pumpkin soup? You never eat when you drink,” Jadie said as she opened a food container and ladled some pumpkin soup into a bowl. Since it was piping hot, she blew on it before offering it to Zach.

Zach looked at the hope in her eyes and couldn’t bring himself to refuse. After finishing the meal, it was almost three o’clock in the morning. Jadie was tidying up. Zach interrupted her, “It’s almost dawn. Kevin will take care of these things. Go back to sleep.”

Jadie, with her head lowered, stood by the bed. “Zach, I don’t want to sleep alone, I’m scared. Can I lie down beside you for a while? Just like when we were kids, you were always there for me no matter what I did. I felt safe.”

Zach was staying in one of the best hospital rooms, and the bed was quite large, big enough for three people. “Jadie, we can’t go back to how things used to be,” Zach explained calmly.

You’re older now, and you should understand the differences between men and women. Even in a boyfriend- girlfriend relationship, without being engaged, it’s not appropriate for a man and a woman to share a bed. You should know these things.” His eyes held an indifferent look.

Jadie, feeling unfairly treated, retorted, “Zach, I don’t understand. I’m just scared and wanted to be with you for a while. Why won’t you even grant me this request? Do you even consider me your girlfriend? Weren’t we in this relationship with the goal of getting married?”

“Last time, back at home, I saw you kiss Madelyn,” she added. “You can do things like that with her, so why not with me?”

“Zach… do you really like me?” she asked with tears in her eyes. “Did you agree to be with me just because you didn’t want to upset me, knowing I have depression?”

“If that’s the case, Zach,” she said, “I’d rather not be with you. I’d rather stay abroad for the rest of my life and never come back.”

Tears welled up in Jadie’s innocent eyes as she spoke. She ran out crying. Jadie was right about one thing. Zach had been overly accommodating to her to avoid causing her any distress.

Zach frowned and quickly dialed Kevin’s number, telling him to look for her. His already agitated emotions were now even more turbulent. Ten minutes later, Zach received a message from Kevin.

[I’ve found Ms. White.]

That night, Kevin had stayed by Jadie’s room.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 392

The next morning, as Zach and Jadie shared the same car, Jadie sat grumpily in the passenger seat. They didn’t exchange a single word during the entire ride.

Zach rested his eyes, sensing the unusual silence. Upon arriving at the school gate, Jadie didn’t utter a single word. She simply opened the car door and stepped out. Kevin reminded her, “Ms. White, your breakfast.”

Jadie ignored him and went straight into the school. Kevin, worried, said, “Mr. Jardin, Ms. White is still young. Maybe… you should try to be a bit more understanding?”

Zach’s eyes blinked open, and as he glanced around, he spotted a familiar figure in the distance. Madelyn was holding a paper bag filled with fried gnocchi from a roadside stall while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate. As she walked, a dog suddenly ran up to her and barked. Startled, she dropped her fried gnocchi on the ground. She panicked and even spilled her hot chocolate, then quickly ran into the school.

A security guard promptly chased the dog away when he spotted it. Madelyn put some distance between herself and the dog, and when she looked back, she felt relieved to see that it hadn’t followed her.

Ever since Madelyn was a teenager, her fear of dogs ran deep, stemming from the trauma inflicted by her family’s mastiff.

When Zach witnessed her reaction, a smile spread across his face. It was a smile he didn’t even realize was forming, one he couldn’t contain.

When Madelyn passed Class Six, she spotted Forrest. He was sprawled over his desk, sleeping with his head against the wall. It had been a while since she had seen him like this.

“Madelyn, Madelyn, Madelyn!”

Upon hearing the voice behind her, Madelyn turned around and saw Mya approaching with two bags of fried gnocchi and hot chocolate in her hands. Madelyn stopped in her tracks and waited for Mya.

Mya handed her the items. “This is for you. I saw you got scared by the dog, and your breakfast got ruined, so I got you a new one.”

Madelyn looked at her, slightly out of breath and sweating on her forehead. Thank you.” Mya had already bought it, so Madelyn didn’t feel right to refuse.

“You’re welcome.” “In a few days, it’s the Math Olympiad, Madelyn… I’ll definitely cheer for you. I’ll be waiting for you outside the test venue,” Mya said as they entered the elevator going upstairs.

“No need, you don’t have to wait for me,” Madelyn replied. “But I want to! We’re friends. Oh, and here, this is for you.” Mya took out a glass bottle filled with tiny stars from her backpack. “There are over a thousand little stars in here, all folded by me for you. I read in my horoscope book that it’ll bring you good luck.”

Madelyn’s heart warmed. ‘Is this what having a friend feels like?’ She smiled, feeling a warm glow surround her heart. “Thank you, Mya. I really like it.”

These simple and affordable gifts might seem ordinary to most, but for Madelyn, Mya’s sincerity meant the world. “After the exam, I’ll get you a gift too!”

“Seriously?” Mya’s eyes sparkled with excitement. She tightly gripped her backpack straps and exclaimed, ” Awesome! Whatever you give me, I’ll treasure it. Let’s be friends forever.”

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 393

Back in the classroom, Madelyn had barely taken her seat when she noticed Jadie. She hadn’t anticipated Jadie’s discharge so soon. ‘Well, the Math Olympiad is just around the corner,’ she thought.

Today marked Madelyn’s return to the Math Olympiad team. If she managed to pass the test, all that remained was completing the remaining courses and patiently awaiting graduation, and most of what she wanted to achieve would already be halfway done.

Madelyn went about her day as usual. In the afternoon, Mya asked her to have lunch together. On their way to the cafeteria, Madelyn felt that many people were looking at her. She noticed that the girls who were looking at her were holding some magazines.

Madelyn didn’t pay much attention to what others were doing. After lunch, she had to attend the Math Olympiad training class.

Mya said, “Madelyn, don’t you find them strange? It’s like everyone is looking at you!” Madelyn had the same feeling, and she questioned, “Is there something on my face?”

“No, not at all. You look great!” Mya replied sincerely. They got to the cafeteria and finished their meal. Madelyn didn’t have the time to go over problems with Mya today. She could only hand her the prepared notes, which should be easy for Mya to grasp. If Mya could remember everything, acing the test would be a breeze.

Upon reaching the Math Olympiad training class, Madelyn found Jadie already there. Albert, the teacher leading the Olympiad Math Team, was delighted to see Madelyn and had even set up an extra seat for her. “Kennedy is fetching your practice materials, just give it a moment!” he exclaimed.

“Sure thing,” Madelyn replied, placing her backpack down and taking her seat. “You haven’t disappointed me at all. Other teachers have been grumbling because you, the second-best student in the entire grade, snagged the only available seat. I overheard them discussing you during a meeting.

You’ve made me proud,” Albert said, looking quite pleased. In reality, he was secretly delighted to finally receive recognition as an exceptional teacher this year.

Kennedy and Lem entered the classroom, and Kennedy placed some practice materials on Madelyn’s desk. She occupied the first seat in the second row, with Kennedy to her left and Lem to her right.

“Well, well, who would have thought that one day, we would be separated,” said Lem. Kennedy remarked casually. “Welcome back, Madelyn.”

Madelyn nodded. “Thanks.” She discreetly turned her head, briefly catching Jadie’s gaze. Madelyn acted like she didn’t notice and directed her attention to the practice materials. It wasn’t the first time she had seen Jadie look like this, but it always made her feel a bit uneasy. There was a distant look in Jadie’s eyes, unlike the usual expression she expected from her.

As the class began, Madelyn realized that the material Albert was teaching was well within her grasp, thanks largely to Ethan’s efforts. The tutors he had arranged for her had already covered nearly half of the knowledge.

In the lobby of the Arnold Corporation building, a woman dressed in a gothic style, sporting sunglasses, was casually chewing gum in front of the

receptionist desk. Her eye makeup was bold, and her face was covered in heavy foundation. Tattoos adorned her hands and neck, giving her an unconventional appearance in the eyes of most people.

The receptionist gazed at her, feeling a mix of surprise and a faint sense of recognition. “Can I assist you?” she inquired. Donna Jolie lowered her sunglasses and offered a smile, her red lips curving.” Don’t you recognize me?”

Upon seeing this familiar face, the receptionist gasped, “Miss Jolie? Are you… Are you here to see Mr. Arnold?” “Isn’t it obvious? I’ll head upstairs now. No need to bother calling him. Just let him know I’ve been here, alright?”

The receptionist nodded in acknowledgment. “Yes, understood.”

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 394

Donna, wearing knee-high boots, confidently strode toward the CEO’s private elevator. The receptionist’s new colleague asked curiously, “Who is she? Why is she dressed so strangely?”

Long-time employees at Arnold Corporation were aware that Ethan had a high school girlfriend in the past. For some unknown reason, she had wanted to break up with the CEO. Then, in a mysterious turn of events, they were both involved in a car accident on the highway, which nearly took Ethan’s life. That ex-girlfriend of Ethan was Donna.

Arnold family had kept this incident quiet, and not many people outside were aware of it. Donna had somehow disappeared afterward.

Donna and Ethan’s relationship had been highly publicized in the past. Not only did the entire Arnold Corporation know of her existence, but even the Arnold family, despite their reservations about her, dared not do anything against her because of Ethan’s protection. After all these years, she had returned.

After an hour-long meeting, Leyton emerged with a magazine in hand. ” Now it has sold a hundred thousand copies. Miss Jent is probably unaware of this. Should we consider seeking compensation from the magazine?”

The cover featured a couple walking hand in hand on a beach. The man’s face was obscured, but the woman’s profile was visible. The background depicted a beautiful scene of the blue sky and sea, creating a captivating image.

Especially striking was the woman’s gaze as she looked at the man beside her-a look filled with deep affection. Anyone who saw the photo would assume that the woman was deeply in love with the man.

However, these two individuals were none other than Ethan and Madelyn. They had been secretly photographed while taking a stroll in Marisburg and had ended up on the magazine’s cover.

This magazine company specialized in capturing photos of couples. It wasn’t very well-known before and had average sales with their previous issues. However, due to this particular cover, it unexpectedly became a sensation. The magazine, with a hundred thousand copies initially printed, had completely sold out. They had even been in the process of additional printings until Arnold Corporation put a stop to it, just half an hour ago, for infringing on the personal image rights of those photographed without their knowledge.

Ethan looked at the cover and smiled. ” It’s well done. Let’s pretend we don’t know about this.” Leyton was puzzled, “Pretend we don’t know?” He wondered, ‘What does he mean?’

It wasn’t until Ethan gave him a knowing look that Leyton realized, “I got it now. I’ll have the legal department withdraw the letter.”

Leyton thought, ‘Pretending not to know means acknowledging the magazine’s actions. It seems Mr. Arnold wants to turn a blind eye and allow the magazine to continue printing and selling, so that everyone knows about his relationship with Miss Jent,’

Leyton couldn’t help but think that this incident had been a huge boon for the magazine. After all, Ethan was not one to easily show his face, even at events or parties.

The two of them arrived at the door of Ethan’s office. Ethan frowned when he noticed the door was not tightly closed and halted. He asked, “Do I have any other appointments today?”

Leyton heard some commotion coming from inside the office. “No,” he replied. He stepped forward and pushed the door open, only to find Donna sitting in Ethan’s office chair. His expression changed abruptly. ‘She actually dares to come back!’

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 395

Upon seeing Ethan outside the door, Donna placed the photo she had been holding down and stood up with a smile. “Long time no see!”

Ethan’s demeanor suddenly turned ice- cold, and he stepped closer. “Who let you in? I told you not to appear in front of me.”

Donna traced her fingers along the desk’s edge as she approached him. ” But it was you who desired to meet, wasn’t it? Remember that night you spent with me.”

Ethan’s response was curt. “That’s enough, Ms. Jolie.” He then turned to Leyton, instructing, “Have the security department escort her out and ensure she never enters the company premises again. Also, fire the receptionist who allowed her in.” Leyton nodded and said, “Yes, sir.”

Clearly wanting to avoid any further interaction, Ethan left the office. As Ethan walked away, Donna called out, “Ethan, don’t you want to know why I left in the first place?”

Leyton glanced at Ethan then Donna. In Donna’s eyes, he detected a hint of sadness. Ethan continued his departure without stopping, causing Donna’s heart to ache. “Ethan Arnold, you can’t escape me for the rest of your life!”

Leyton stepped forward and said, “Ms. Jolie, what’s the purpose of all this? Mr. Arnold is doing well now, and it’s best not to disturb him any further. The financial support he provided you should suffice for a lifetime.”

Donna put her sunglasses back on and shot Leyton a cold glare. “Leyton, you played a part in separating me from Ethan back then. What right do you have now to stand in front of me and preach?”

“But… Ms. Jolie, didn’t you leave Mr. Arnold for someone else, despite knowing how well he treated you? Things have changed, and it’s best if you have no ill intentions toward the girl in the photo. You can’t possibly compete with her, and Mr. Arnold is not as easy to handle as he once was!” Leyton spoke frankly, his unspoken thoughts echoing, ‘Mr. Arnold once loved you deeply, and it’s you who didn’t appreciate it. Now that you want to return to him, it might be too late!!

Donna didn’t think she would end up in this super awkward situation, getting kicked out by Ethan. She had heard all those rumors about that girl, but she thought they were all just lies. When she found out Ethan had a girl living with him at the Arnold residence, she didn’t buy it.

After all, Ethan used to be head over heels for Donna. He had wanted her around all the time, like 24/7, never letting her out of his sight.

Donna liked smoking, drinking, and hanging out in some not-so-great bars. Ethan tried to get her to change her habits, but no matter what he did, she just did things her own way and wouldn’t listen to him.

Later on, he decided to go along with her lifestyle. He started smoking and drinking with her and got tattoos that matched hers.

Hence, Donna believed that no matter what she did, Ethan would always care about her. She even thought that if she had to leave someday, Ethan would wait for her to come back.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 396

Donna thought to herself, ‘Why doesn’t he keep his promise?’ She had been alone in a foreign land. when she received those photos from a private investigator. These images showed him intimately involved with another woman, prompting her to yearn for the truth.

When she finally saw the photo on his office desk at Arnold Corporation, the undeniable proof shattered her world.

Gazing at the imposing Arnold Corporation building, Donna struggled to contain the bitterness welling up within her. With a heavy heart, she left the scene behind.

As she walked away, tears welled up unexpectedly, smudging her makeup. Lost in her thoughts, she walked aimlessly, oblivious to the curious stares and distancing gestures of passersby. A few minutes later, a black car pulled up in front of Donna, and a bodyguard in a black suit got out of the car.

“Ms. Jolie,” he said, “Mrs. Arnold Sr. is aware of your return. She requests your presence. Please step into the car.”

Collecting herself, Donna entered the front passenger seat, using the tissues provided to fix her smeared makeup. As she did so, she muttered, “How is that old woman still alive after all these years?”

The chauffeur cautioned, “Ms. Jolie, please be careful with your words!” Ignoring her recent emotional breakdown, Donna retorted, “I used to call her that, and Ethan never objected. Who are you to lecture me?”

The chauffeur maintained a stoic silence. An hour and a half passed before Donna arrived at the Arnold residence. She confidently navigated the familiar path, passing the entrance where a servant halted her progress. “Ms. Jolie, Mrs. Arnold Sr. awaits you here.”

Donna, full of arrogance, followed the servant to the front of the mansion where Ethan lived. Evelyn Anderson, dressed modestly, sat on a stone bench in the yard, sipping roasted beet soup.

“It has been quite a while, Mrs. Arnold Sr.,” Donna remarked, her disbelief evident. “I never anticipated you’d still be among the living!”

Evelyn didn’t respond to her but continued to enjoy her soup. With a smile, she said to a nearby servant, Madelyn’s cooking is much better than yours.”

Marta, who had been taking care of Evelyn for many years, chimed in, Yes! The texture is so tender, it melts in your mouth, and the sweetness is just right. Her cooking is almost as good as the chefs we hire.’

Donna had no idea what game Evelyn was playing. After finishing her roasted beet soup, Evelyn stood up and asked Marta to leave them alone for a while. Evelyn then turned her attention to Donna.

After a long pause, Evelyn shook her head, her displeasure evident. “You’re still the same after all these years. You returned so eagerly, perhaps to size up Ethan’s current companion. Well, you’ve seen her now.”

Donna clenched her teeth and questioned, “Is all of this a scheme orchestrated by you?” Evelyn leaned on her cane and fixed her gaze on Donna. She responded, “I promised not to meddle in your relationship with him all those years ago. I’ve upheld that promise.”

“It’s impossible! If it weren’t for your meddling, how could he have fallen for someone else? You must have arranged for that girl to be near him!”

One of the bodyguards, sensing Donna’s escalating emotions, took a step forward but was halted by Evelyn’s gesture.

Evelyn continued, “Blame yourself for not failing to appreciate him. Ethan spent so many years with you, and for your sake, he did countless things against our family’s rules. His academic performance suffered as well. He even raced cars with you, had a near -fatal accident, and barely made it back. How many times was his life in jeopardy? How… could you forget?”

Donna was left speechless. Evelyn smiled, “You never really cared. All you enjoyed were the privileges Ethan brought you. Every time you got into trouble, who was it that bailed you out? Back then, he was young and foolish, influenced by your charm, and he did some unthinkable things. Now that you’ve come back early, according to the bet we made three years ago…. you’ve already lost.”

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 397

Evelyn spoke sternly, “So many years have gone by, and our family has done a lot for an outsider like you.”

She examined Donna closely one last time. “I’ve said what I needed to say,” she declared firmly. Then, she told Marta, “Show our guest out.” Her voice was strong, and her eyes showed nothing but cold indifference and dislike for Donna.

Evelyn really held a deep grudge against Donna. If it weren’t for Donna, Ethan wouldn’t have had such a tough time in school or made bad choices. Marta said, “Sure, Madam,” and turned to Donna. “Ms. Jolie, please come with me.”

Donna, full of frustration, yelled at Evelyn, “Aren’t you worried I’ll tell him. all of this? If it weren’t for you, Ethan and I wouldn’t be in this mess.”

Evelyn sneered, “Five years ago, I didn’t let you step foot in my home. Nothing has changed now. I won’t let you keep hurting my grandson.”

Donna was shown out of the Arnold house. Her proud attitude had crumbled, leaving her looking like someone who had lost everything in a bet, feeling ashamed and desperate. “I can’t believe it,” she muttered to herself over and over. “We were together for so long, and just like that, he gave up on me and let go of those feelings.”

She tried to call a number she knew well, but the screen showed an empty line. Her expression suddenly turned fierce as she sent a message to another number.

[I can work with you, as long as you don’t hurt Ethan.]

After sending this message, Donna prepared to leave. She gazed up at the sky, which appeared gloomy and gray. Donna had been traveling without rest for several days to return to Venturia, her head heavy with thoughts. Suddenly, everything went dark, and she lost consciousness.

Meanwhile, at Ventrocloud High School, Madelyn still couldn’t figure out why so many people were giving her curious looks until the school day was nearly over.

It was when Mya snatched a magazine from the nearby store that Madelyn spotted a photo of herself and Ethan on the cover, casually walking in Marisburg. She wondered, ‘Why would someone snap a picture of us and put it on a magazine cover for everyone to see?’

Now, most of the girls at Ventrocloud High School had a copy of that magazine. They seemed to be eyeing Madelyn with jealousy.

The final class of the day was a self- study session. Hailey Hann, the homeroom teacher who rarely made appearances at this time, suddenly pushed the door open and walked into the classroom. Accompanying her was a middle-aged, chubby man wearing a baseball cap, who held a magazine.

“Everyone, put down what you’re doing for a moment. Let me introduce you to this famous suspense drama director. He’s here today to find actors. If any of you are interested, you can sign up. Being an artist in showbiz can be a great career choice.”

“Sir, you might want to consider another class! Our group here isn’t exactly hurting for cash. We’re not into acting, either. It’s a piece of cake for our families to start a showbiz company. Our focus is on our studies, just waiting to finish school and dive into the family business!” It was unmistakably Lem speaking.

It appeared that hardly anyone else in the class had much to add.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 398

“Boring, not interested,” someone said. Another student chimed in, “If I enter showbiz, my dad would literally flip.” “Isn’t acting and singing all about entertaining others?” said another student.

Hailey raised an eyebrow and glanced at the director next to her. The director, hunched and smiling, replied, “I know all of you come from well-off families. I’m just here to see if any of you are interested. No one’s being forced into anything.”

When he spotted Madelyn sitting by the window, his eyes lit up. “You must be Madelyn Jent?” Madelyn paused, laying down her pen, looking puzzled. “Sir, do you know my name?”

The director approached her eagerly.” How could I not? Ethan Arnold is backing this new film. If you’re interested, I can cast you as the female lead. We can even tweak the script to your liking.”

Madelyn declined politely, “I’m sorry, but I’m not into acting. You should find someone else. Excuse me, I need to visit Mr. Newton’s office for help with some math problems.”

The director maintained his pleasant demeanor. “Here’s my business card. If you ever change your mind about acting, just contact me. I have a variety of scripts, and if you join, you can even pick your male lead from any celebrity you like.”

Madelyn smiled politely as she accepted the card and left the classroom with her workbook. It was true that many people at school used to know about her relationship with Ethan. Now, due to that magazine feature, outsiders were looking for her directly. Once one came, others were sure to follow.

Recently, while going to school with Ethan, Madelyn had spotted people wearing masks and carrying cameras, trying to be discreet. She knew they were paparazzi.

Madelyn usually paid little attention to gossip, but she didn’t want to be involved in it. She didn’t want anyone disrupting her life. She hadn’t even considered using Ethan’s fame and power to her advantage. She was content with her current situation.

After leaving the classroom, Madelyn headed straight to the school building where her Math Olympiad training class was held.

Next to it stood the school’s dance studio, where the echoes of rhythmic music filled the air. It was clear that someone was deeply engrossed in practicing their dance moves. Even within the adjacent room, Madelyn could feel the windows vibrating with the beat.

In the hallway, a group of students strolled past. Among them, Timothy noticed Madelyn inside the classroom and commented, “Isn’t that Madelyn? How does she manage to concentrate on her studies amidst all this noise? She sure is a dedicated student!”

Kayla and Forrest had become inseparable since joining Class Six. Kayla spent her time practicing dance with her close friends and even formed a team for an upcoming dance competition. They were rehearsing right next door. She was dressed in a striking midriff-baring outfit, topped with a loose jacket that clearly belonged to Forrest.

At that moment, Kennedy and Lem coincidentally crossed paths with them. It was a moment where high- achieving students and those labeled as troublemakers came face to face.

However, Kennedy paid them no attention and walked straight into the classroom. Lem appeared surprised when he saw Madelyn, despite saying, “I had a feeling you’d be here!”

Madelyn hadn’t expected them to arrive so early and looked up, asking, Why are you guys here so early too?”

Lem glanced at Kennedy, who was quietly seated beside him, and explained, “Our classroom was way too noisy, so we decided to come here. But it seems just as loud here.”

Madelyn noticed a few people outside the window, and Timothy waved and greeted her. She nodded in Acknowledgement.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 399

Lem turned to Madelyn and asked, ” Hey, Madelyn, I’m stuck on a problem here. Can you give me a hand?” Madelyn glanced at him and shook her head. “I’m stuck too. Why don’t you ask Kennedy? He’s ranked first in the whole grade.”

Lem put on a pitiful expression. “He won’t help me.”

“But I’m not sure how to solve it either! “Madelyn then turned to Kennedy, inquiring, “Kennedy, have you figured out this problem? Could you teach us?” Kennedy retrieved a workbook from his backpack. “Take a look at this. If you don’t get it, feel free to ask.”

Madelyn glanced at Kennedy and then at that workbook. After she took it, she was instantly shocked when flipping through it. “Y-You’ve completed all of these? When did you finish them? How did you do it so fast?”

Lem grumbled, “This freak must have finished them in less than a week after Mr. Newton assigned them.” Madelyn wondered to herself, ‘Is this the superpower of a legendary genius? Does he possess some sort of divine blessing?’

In her pursuit of better grades, Madelyn often burned the midnight oil, reviewing Etlinish vocabulary before bedtime. She turned to Lem and asked, “Does Kennedy need a tutor?”

“The heck he needs it. He’s always been a freak. I sat next to him for three years, and he’d nap in class every day, scribble on tests, and somehow end up as the top student in the entire grade.”

“Really?”

“What are you guys discussing? Sounds intriguing. Mind if I join the conversation?” Jadie entered the classroom, holding a book.

The once lively atmosphere took an abrupt downturn. Madelyn replied, “We were just talking about our assignments. What brings you here early?”

Jadie settled into a seat beside Madelyn and clarified, “They’re using our classroom for a movie scene. I picked up your backpack. Please check if anything’s missing.” Madelyn accepted it gratefully and said, “Thanks, Jadie.”

Madelyn was the last to leave, adhering to the usual dismissal time. When she finally departed, it was already half past nine.

Today, for some reason, she felt unusually fatigued. Considering the hour-long journey back to the Arnold residence, Madelyn decided to spend the night in the apartment she rented.

So, she contacted the driver and told him not to come pick her up today. The driver found it strange but didn’t say much. She also sent a message to Ethan to inform him, but he didn’t reply. She figured it would be alright and waited for him to read the message.

Upon unlocking the door using the key hidden beneath a flowerpot, she discovered that the living room lights were on.

On the couch, she found Forrest and Kayla in a rather compromising position. Forrest was shirtless, leaving little doubt about what they had been doing.

Spotting Madelyn, Forrest hastily pushed Kayla away and reached for his shirt, trying to put it on. Kayla frowned and looked displeased. ” What are you doing here?”

Madelyn pursed her lips for a moment before replying, “This is the apartment I’m renting!” Her voice sounded calm, but you could tell she was already angry. A hint of panic flickered in Forrest’s eyes as he began to explain.

However, Madelyn didn’t want to engage in further discussion or argument with them because she had developed a slight headache on the way back, possibly due to catching a cold.

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 400

Madelyn looked at Forrest with a weary expression. She didn’t know what to say to him. In the end, she simply said, “Pack up your things. Don’t come here again.”

After saying that, she went back to her room. She found her room relatively clean, with no dust, as if someone had cleaned it. Without thinking much, she locked the door, dropped her backpack, and, without even changing her clothes, she lay on the bed under a blanket.

Outside the room, Forrest and Kayla seemed to have an argument. Madelyn had a headache and didn’t want to get involved. She tried hard not to dwell on it. After a while, she fell into a restless sleep.

Around one o’clock in the early morning, the sound of brakes shattered the silence of the night, and Ethan got out of the car. He saw that the living room lights in the mansion were still on..

Exhausted, Ethan walked into the hallway. A servant noticed him and asked in confusion, “Sir, isn’t Miss Jent with you?”

Ethan furrowed his brow. “She didn’t come back?” Suddenly, his heart sank. The servant hesitantly said, “No, sir. Miss Jent called the driver and said she wouldn’t be coming back today, that she would be staying somewhere else. I… I thought she was with you.”

Ethan had just returned from the hospital. He checked his phone. There were no missed calls or unread messages. He repeatedly dialed Madelyn’s number, but it wouldn’t go through.

A chilling and icy demeanor began to emanate from him. “Why didn’t you ask her in the first place? If something happens to her, every single one of you will be fired! What are you waiting for? Why haven’t you sent someone to find. her?”

“Yes, sir,” the servant replied, taken aback by the severity of Ethan’s anger. After the servant left, Ethan’s body felt unsteady, and his leg, which had previously been giving him trouble, seemed to act up again. He sat down on the couch, holding his head in his hands, a mix of fear and panic flooding his mind. He regretted, ‘I… should never have seen Donna. If Madelyn finds out, I don’t know what I’ll do.’

The bodyguards had searched all the nearby hotels and various nightlife spots around the school, but there was no trace of Madelyn.

Close to four o’clock in the early morning, Leyton poured a cup of hot water and placed it in front of Ethan. ” We still haven’t been able to reach the Jent family, but we’ve sent someone over to inquire. Don’t worry; we should have news soon.”

As he spoke, Leyton received a message from the bodyguards. He hesitated, not sure how to break the news. Ethan asked, “Did you find something?

Leyton replied, “We’ve checked the Jent residence at Southern Haven Villas and Mr. Jardin’s place at Grand Court, but Miss Jent was nowhere to be found. “He wondered, ‘If she’s not at home, where could she be?’

Upon hearing this news, Ethan felt a pang of self-blame. “Should I have not met Donna? Maybe Madelyn wouldn’t have gone missing like this! Did Donna see Madelyn when she returned?”

Leyton shook his head. “I’m not certain. Miss Jent is usually quite deliberate in her actions. Besides, she’s been aware of the situation between you and Miss Jolie for some time now.” Ethan was taken aback. “When did she find out?”

Leyton explained, “It was back when you were still in the hospital. George mentioned Miss Jolie to Miss Jent, but he didn’t go into much detail. While Miss Jent may not know everything about your history with Miss Jolie, if she did find out, she’d likely be understanding. Mr. Arnold, if you truly wanted to be with Miss Jent, maybe you shouldn’t have gone to the hospital today.”

Ethan lowered his eyes, lost in thought. Deep inside, he wished Madelyn would sometimes act without thinking as it would make him feel like she cared. At times, he also questioned whether Madelyn had truly loved him.
