Ch. 791..800
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 791
Sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a warm glow in the car’s interior. Madelyn couldn’t believe that Zach would resort to using their child as leverage to get her to comply. Zach’s words echoed in her mind, “If you don’t come, he’ll go hungry.”
The message had been relayed to her by the servant. Zach knew her well, knowing that kindness was often more effective with her than intimidation. But now, he was manipulating her by involving their child.
Sighing, Madelyn retrieved a bag filled with baby essentials from the closet. She understood that Zach might forget the milk, but intentionally leaving out Dalton’s diapers was perplexing. If he needed a change and there were no diapers, it would be inconvenient. Madelyn began to suspect that Zach might have omitted them on purpose.
About an hour later, Madelyn arrived at the Jardin Corporation building, with Jordan waiting for her. The tall building felt familiar. She had not wanted to be here; she had hoped Zach would take Dalton to Floral Loft, which was nearby. But he refused. As she entered the lobby, a familiar employee, who once worked for Azure Corporation, spotted her immediately.
“Ms. Jent? Wow, it’s you!”
Madelyn smiled in response. “Hey there.” “Here to see Mr. Jardin?” the receptionist asked. “He told me to take you right up if you came.”
Madelyn offered her gratitude, albeit politely declining the offer. “I can find my way. He’s on the ninety-ninth floor, correct?”
The receptionist confirmed, “Yes, that’s correct.” She reached for a button on her desk, summoning a special elevator. “This one will take you directly there.”
“Thanks,” Madelyn replied. As the receptionist resumed her duties, a curious coworker leaned over and whispered, “Who’s that? I’ve never seen her before.”
The receptionist replied in hushed tones, “That’s Madelyn Jent, Mr. Jardin’s younger sister. Remember the big scandal a few years ago? That’s her. She was also engaged to the heir of the Arnold family.”
The coworker’s eyes widened. “Oh, that Madelyn Jent? She’s stunning! But I heard she can’t have children. Is that why the engagement was called off?”
The receptionist quickly silenced her, saying, “Lower your voice! If Mr. Jardin overhears us, we’re in trouble.”
Rumors often contain a grain of truth.
There was another rumor circulating that the child Zach brought to the company was hers. However, this speculation was largely dismissed by most people because, despite being around 25 years old, she still looked like a college student and didn’t appear to have given birth to a child. Plus, only a few old-timers at Azure Corporation recalled Madelyn’s once deep feelings for Zach.
The Jardin Corporation’s lobby was so quiet that Madelyn could catch every word the receptionists uttered. She soon stepped into the elevator, and as its doors closed, she was swept up in a torrent of feelings: anxiety, unease, a desire to escape, and unexpectedly, a touch of relief. She pondered this mix of emotions.
‘Is it a relief that no one knows about Zach and me?’ She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t realize the elevator had reached her floor. Just as the doors began to close, a hand stopped them. There stood Zach, dapper in a sharp black suit, exuding authority.
“You seemed lost in thought. Come on, he said. Kevin, standing right behind Zach, shared his intent gaze on her. Snapping back to the moment, Madelyn exited the elevator and followed Zach to his office.
Zach told Kevin, “Delay my afternoon meeting by ninety minutes.”
Kevin replied, “Of course, Mr. Jardin.”
Surveying the lavish office, Madelyn asked, “Where’s Dal?”
Before Zach could respond, Kevin interjected, “He’s in the lounge. I’ll bring him here.” Madelyn turned to Zach, her eyebrows knitting with concern. “You’re okay leaving him on his own?”
Zach gently took her hand, guiding her to a seat. “There are cameras throughout the building. He’s safe,” he said. “I’ve also ordered some food from The Deli. Hope you’ve got an appetite.”
“I’m not hungry. I already had something to eat,” Madelyn said as she tried to get up. Zach gently stopped her.
“Please, stay with me a little longer,” he said, handing her a fork. She looked concerned. “I need to feed Dal soon. Plus, he’s still getting over his cold.”
Zach comforted her, saying, “Inside the Jardin Tower, the air is clean and controlled. Just avoid the first floor and he’ll be okay.”
They were both trying to share a single chair, which meant Zach was sitting very close to Madelyn. Whenever she attempted to move to give herself some space, he would gently pull her back. ” Why don’t you sit next to me instead of squishing here?” she asked.
He gave a cheeky smile. “I like it this way.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 792
Madelyn held a fork, her eyebrows knit in silence. Without looking at him, she could still feel the intensity of his stare. She wore a beige sweater, her long hair pinned up with a few stray strands falling by her ear. The elegant curve of her neck gave off a gentle and friendly vibe. The aura she exuded was something other women from outside could never match for Zach.
Zach knew Madelyn loved fish nuggets. Taking some from the takeout bag, he placed them on her plate.
“Can’t you behave during meals?” Madelyn set down her fork and gently stopped his wandering hand on her chest. Zach said with a mischievous smile, ” They have grown quite a bit.”
Madelyn recalled how he had always been so polite to others, and she wondered why he acted differently around her. It seemed as though there was another side to him, one that was unrestrained. She looked at him and. asked, “Why not show more restraint?”
He leaned closer, noticing her hair’s fragrance. “Didn’t you like it more when I was more open?”
“Zach!” Madelyn’s eyes showed her disapproval. “Do you always have to push the boundaries?”
Feeling uncomfortable, she pulled away from Zach and stood. Without even looking at him, she said, “I’ve brought what you asked for. Take care of Dal on your own later. I’m going home.”
Zach tilted his head, giving a faint smile, but his gaze was cold. As Madelyn turned toward the exit, he casually unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt and pulled a cigarette from a drawer, lighting it.
Finding the door locked, Madelyn pulled harder but it remained shut. She spun around, frustration evident. ” What do you want now?”
“Dine with me,” Zach said simply.
“I’ve already had my meal,” Madelyn replied. Zach looked really upset. He jumped up, and his chair hit the wall with a loud crash. He put out his cigarette and hurried toward her. Scared, Madelyn backed up until she was against the wall.
“Why do you always make me mad, Madelyn?”
Madelyn smelled the tobacco on Zach. It bothered her, but she looked straight into his mad eyes. She wondered about the reason behind his anger whenever she voiced her thoughts. She took a breath and said, “I have feelings and thoughts. I’m not your toy or robot. If you want someone who only listens, find someone else.”
Zach took her face in his hand. “Don’t let kindness from me change the way you talk to me.”
However, he held on a little too firmly.” Zach, you’re pressing too hard!” Madelyn exclaimed, eyes watering.
Zach quickly pulled back his hand, noticing a slight redness where he had touched. He attempted to console her, but she stepped back, looking wary. Seeing her reaction, he felt a pang of annoyance.
Madelyn looked down, her thoughts filled with worry. ‘If Zach had grabbed my neck instead, I think he wouldn’t have hesitated to hurt me badly here.’
She spoke up, her voice cool. “I’m sorry. I’m just not hungry. Thanks for your concern.” As she pulled away from him, she quickly added, “Jordan is waiting for me downstairs. Can I go?”
“Madelyn.” He reached out, but she stood still, looking uneasy. Just then, another knock came from the entrance. With a cold voice, Zach said, “Come in.”
Kevin entered, a child in his arms. “Mr. Interrupting him, Madelyn sped past and made it into the elevator just as the doors were shutting. She hit the button for the lobby, but then she realized she had entered the service elevator.
When the elevator paused at the twentieth floor, several people got on. A senior staff member spotted her and asked, “Which department are you from? Why aren’t you wearing your ID badge?”
An employee beside him whispered, ” That’s Ms. Jent.” The senior’s eyes widened. “Oh, Ms. Jent! I apologize. Please forgive my oversight.”
Madelyn intently watched the elevator’s floor indicator. She offered a reassuring smile, saying, “It’s okay.” The chatter stopped. Noticing her, some employees canceled their floor selections, leaving only her destination lit. When the doors opened, they stepped aside, letting her out. Madelyn swiftly left the Jardin Tower and got into her car, thinking, ‘I bet they’ll talk about me.’
On the top floor, the CEO’s computer displayed Madelyn’s departure. Dalton, clutching a baby bottle, looked as if he desperately wanted to be with Madelyn.
‘Doesn’t she want the child?’ Zach was confused, wondering what else might make her stay if not the baby.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 793
As the car left the surveillance area, a person ran onto the road. Jordan hit the brakes hard, and Madelyn lurched forward. Jordan asked, “You okay, Ms. Jent?”
Madelyn lifted her head and saw a woman with shoulder-length hair in a black uniform, sporting a Jardin Corporation ID badge. The woman’s eyes sparkled with urgency, and she had a simple beauty about her. The woman hurried over, tapping on the window, prompting Madelyn to lower it. “Ms. Jent, can you spare a few minutes? I’ve got urgent news.”
Jordan said, “Ms. Jent, Mr. Jardin warned you about talking to strangers.”
Madelyn hesitated a moment. “What’s your name?” The woman replied, “I’m Blake Dion. You may not recognize me, but I’m sure you know my cousin, Mya Harper.”
“Get in,” Madelyn said. As Jordan tried to speak, Madelyn interrupted, “It’s okay, Jordan. Take a break for a bit.”
Blake climbed into the car. Even with the cold, she was sweating. Seeing this, and remembering she had seen Blake rushing from the building, Madelyn handed her a bottle of water. “Take it easy,” Madelyn said. “I’m sorry I haven’t visited in a while. Is Mya okay?”
Upon seeing Madelyn, Blake was taken aback. She was even more stunning in person than in the photos from Mya, Blake’s cousin. Not wanting to waste a moment, Blake asked, “Are you attending Mya’s birthday party?”
“Is that the reason for your visit?”
Blake nodded. “Absolutely, it’s crucial that you’re there.”
Madelyn picked up on the urgency in Blake’s voice. “What happened to her?” she asked. As Blake began to explain, her face reflected the gravity of the situation. However, before she could go into detail, she mentioned work commitments and left abruptly.
Noticing Madelyn’s concern, Jordan asked, “Is everything okay, Ms. Jent? Perhaps you should discuss this with Mr. Jardin.”
Madelyn replied, “I’m alright. Let’s head home.”
When Madelyn got home, she went to her room and found the invitation. She looked worried and thought, ‘So much has changed since I left.’
About half an hour later, Margaret came upstairs carrying a plate of pudding. Knowing Madelyn’s penchant for painting, she headed straight to the art studio. Peering inside, she said, Ah, there you are, Ms. Jent! Working on something special?”
Madelyn smiled. “I’m making a birthday present for a friend. Her birthday is the day after tomorrow.”
Margaret’s eyebrows raised in pleasant surprise. “Oh, how sweet! But are you sure you’ll have enough time?”
Madelyn replied, “I’ll finish it by tomorrow.”
It was time to keep a promise she had made to Mya four years ago. Back then, after painting a piece for Forrest, Mya had asked for one of her own. Now, Madelyn was finally making it happen.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 794
Madelyn was sketching a memory of Mya from four years ago. “Ms. Jent,” Margaret said, “how about a break with some pudding?”
Without looking up, Madelyn replied, ” Just leave it there.”
Seeing Madelyn’s concentration, Margaret closed the door, ensuring her privacy. Later, when dinner was ready, Margaret tried to alert Madelyn. But Madelyn responded briefly, indicating she was not ready. Margaret saw the untouched pudding and quietly removed it.
At 6:30 pm, Zach left work early. As the Rolls-Royce pulled in, its headlights danced across the windows. The tires crunched against the pavement. Zach, clearly tired, got out with Dalton under one arm, a damp spot on his striped shirt. Inside, the maid was getting the dishes ready to be reheated.
“Has Madelyn eaten?” Zach asked. Caught off guard by Zach’s voice, the maid almost dropped the dishes. “Mr. Jardin, Ms. Jent’s been in her art studio since she came home. Margaret tried to call her down, but no luck. I’m just about to heat the dinner.”
Zach looked concerned. “Okay.”
The maid hurried to the kitchen. Dalton, having cried the entire ride, now slept peacefully on Zach’s shoulder. Zach climbed the stairs and opened the door to the art studio. Inside, he saw Madelyn splattered with paint, and the room felt warm without any air conditioning. “How much longer on the painting?” he asked, his tone frosty.
As Madelyn tilted her head, her hair clip fell, allowing her long hair to flow freely. “Just a bit more,” she replied. “Ten minutes. Then join me for dinner, or this studio will be empty tomorrow.”
Zach went to a nearby room. He gently placed Dalton on the bed, undressed, and hopped in the shower. Once out, he tossed his expensive shirt in the trash without a second thought.
After thinking it over, Madelyn decided to head downstairs to have dinner with Zach. Before that, she visited the nursery to see Dalton. Seeing her, Dalton stretched out his arms, wanting a cuddle. As she picked him up, she noticed his pants were wet. ‘How did Zach miss this?’ she thought to herself. In the next room, , she changed Dalton into dry clothes and quickly bathed him. Just as she was dressing him, Zach entered.
“Didn’t you notice his wet clothes?” she asked.
“He must’ve wet himself after we arrived,” Zach replied. Madelyn frowned, detecting an odd smell. “What’s that odor?”
She spotted a thrown-out shirt in the trash bin and pieced it together. Taking a breath, she said, “Maybe Margaret could help with Dalton? She’s good with kids.” As “parents”, we both have a lot to learn,’ she mused.
Dalton clung to Madelyn as she and Zach descended the stairs. Events from earlier in the day had left Madelyn distant and reserved toward Zach. She had not eaten much for lunch, so at dinner, Zach served her a generous portion. He watched as she ate everything, appreciating her appetite. The dinner was quiet; both were absorbed in their own thoughts. Zach tried making conversation a few times, but Madelyn’s short replies held him back. After dinner, she excused herself, saying she wanted to continue her painting upstairs.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 795
Around 9:30 that evening, Zach relaxed on the couch in the living room, eager to hear Jordan’s news about Madelyn.
Jordan started, “Here’s the scoop. Ms. Jent chatted with that girl briefly before stepping out of the car. But when she came back, her demeanor had changed.”
Zach looked at Margaret with a serious face. “What about you? What do you think?”
Margaret laughed lightly. “Mr. Jardin, you might be overanalyzing. In two days, it’s the birthday bash for a friend of Ms. Jent. The painting? She made it as a gift.”
Zach asked, “Is the friend’s last name Harper?”
Margaret just shrugged. “Maybe, but I’m not certain.”
Zach stood up from the couch. “Got it,” he said and headed upstairs. In the study of his master bedroom, he paused by the large windows, gazing at the sky filled with stars. Picking up the phone, he dialed a number. Kevin answered instantly, “Mr. Jardin.”
Zach said, “Look into it. Around noon today, find out who left the company to meet Madelyn.”
In a well-lit office at Jardin Corporation, Kevin cast a sidelong glance at a jittery woman tucked away in a corner. Redirecting his attention, he responded calmly, “That’s Blake Dion from the secretary’s office.”
Zach asked, “She?” He did not recognize her. Typically, only a few top leaders, including Kevin, interacted directly with Zach.
“Mr. Jardin, please hold on,” Kevin said, passing the phone to Blake. “Do you want to explain, or should I?”
Caught off guard, Blake replied, Speaking to Mr. Jardin? I mean, I’m just an intern. I’m really nervous.”
Kevin’s expression grew stern. Taking a step outside with the phone, he clarified the situation to Zach. Once Zach understood, his worries seemed to vanish. ‘Did she paint that just as a gift?’ Zach said, “Kevin, handle this yourself.”
Kevin replied, “Yes, sir.”
Three days later, newspapers reported that Mya would be getting engaged at her birthday party today. The man she is getting engaged to remains unknown. The party is at the Supreme World banquet hall.
Luke Graham was with Mya, who had long wavy hair and wore a white fox fur shawl. He warned her, “If you don’t want anything to happen to the Harper family, stay calm today. If not, a single word from me can ruin them in Ventropolis.”
Mya snapped, “You’re nothing but a liar!”
Suddenly, Luke slapped Mya. A vivid handprint appeared on her reddened cheek. “It was you who begged to marry me, wasn’t it? Be careful with what you say to the media,” Luke warned. “If not, I can’t guarantee your father will be safe in the hospital.”
Angry, Mya said, “When Madelyn comes, she won’t forgive you.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 796
“She’s–”
Luke interrupted her with a sarcastic laugh, “Got it. She’s the little sister of Jardin Corporation’s top dog. And how’s that your business? If she genuinely cared, she’d be here by now. Thinking the Harper family can rival the Jardin heiress? Wishful thinking. Honestly, after everything with the Harpers, I’ve had enough.”
Mya had not realized she had brought trouble upon herself, and now her dad was caught up in it. The makeup artist quickly applied makeup as she sat at the vanity. Afterward, she was led to a changing room and dressed in a used wedding gown. Changing into the gown, Mya noticed the many dark bruises covering her body. ‘When are you coming to help me, Madelyn?’
In college, Mya became friends with Luke, a student always tight on cash. Now, Mya sat alone in the lounge, hugging herself, feeling lonely and ignored. The hushed voices of Luke and a woman making out nearby deepened her sense of isolation.
As the clock struck noon, the banquet began. Even with her makeup on, Mya’s eyes showed signs of recent tears and fear. Trying to hide her feelings, she linked arms with Luke. With a casual smile, Luke stepped to the podium and grabbed the microphone.
“Thank you to everyone here for sharing this joyous moment with me,’ Luke said, looking tenderly at Mya. We’ve been together for three wonderful years. Today, I promise to always be by her side.”
Luke knelt on one knee and took Mya’s hand. The MC, with eyes full of anticipation, handed him a black velvet box. When he opened it, a ring gleamed inside.
“I got this ring two years ago, but I never had the guts to ask you. Mya, will you marry me? I promise to always love, cherish, and protect you.”
Tears streamed down Mya’s face. She knew it was all just a show and that agreeing would spell disaster for her family. Guests in the audience whispered, sensing something was not right.
“Doesn’t the bride look unhappy? Is she being forced?” one guest asked.
“Looks like it,” another replied. Luke noticed the audience’s whispers. His girlfriend gave him a sharp look. Clearing away Mya’s tears and with a gentle expression, he said, “I’m sorry, everyone. Mya’s a bit overwhelmed right now. Please understand.” He then whispered to Mya, “If you don’t say ‘yes ‘, your father won’t make it out of the hospital.”
Mya saw Luke’s smile as something terrifying. She wanted to say “no”, but thinking of her father, she felt cornered. In a soft voice, she said, “I… I do.”
Luke slid the ring onto Mya’s finger and then gently kissed her forehead. Just as the audience was taking in the scene, the door flew open. Blake walked in, followed by servers holding an object covered in clothes. “I’m here on behalf of Miss Madelyn from the Jardin Corporation to deliver a gift to my cousin,” she declared. But without missing a beat, her expression darkened as she turned to Luke. “This is for everything you’ve done!” With that, she landed a solid punch on Luke’s face.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 797
After Blake punched Luke, he started bleeding from the corner of his mouth, which sent the party into chaos. Blake quickly grabbed Mya, pulled the ring off her finger, and threw it at Luke, but it bounced off and landed somewhere else.
“This cheap ring’s your idea of love?” Blake snapped. “Luke, you and your freeloading family should just leave.”
Seeing the guests’ shocked reactions, Luke said, “Blake, enough! Don’t cause a bigger scene.”
“What if I want to make a scene? What’re you going to do about it? Try and hit me?” Blake challenged. Mya tugged at her arm. “Enough, Blake.
“Don’t worry about him, Mya,” Blake said. “Madelyn’s on her way. And once she’s here, all these cheaters will have to answer for what they’ve done. They’ll give back every penny they took from the Harper family.”
“Is she really coming?”
“Yes.” “Ridiculous! Even if someone important were here, this proposal is happening,” a woman in a poorly fitting dress interrupted. She was Luke’s aunt. “Get her out. Why’s she yelling? We’re here to have a good time.
Blake smirked. “Think you’re going to enjoy this feast? Think again!” With that, she dashed off the stage, toppling a food table on her way.
Luke’s aunt, her face filled with shock, exclaimed, “Can you believe that? That table cost $600! That’s like a whole month’s wages for some.”
Luke’s cousin, the event’s MC, approached looking concerned. “Dude, you need to sort this out. Our plans are in jeopardy. I was hoping to use the Harper inheritance to buy my girlfriend a house. I already promised her.”
Luke clenched his fists, his mind racing. Blake had mentioned that someone from Jardin Corporation would be attending today. All he needed was for Mya to accept his proposal. Once the party was over, they could obtain their marriage certificate. By marrying into the Harper family, he would gain ownership of all their assets because of their prior agreement.
The thought of Mya having powerful allies worried him. If his actions were discovered, he could be in serious trouble, possibly even facing jail time. He had secured a stable government job, and the prospect of the Harper family’s wealth was tantalizingly close. He had envisioned a luxurious and prestigious life for himself. But now, everything seemed uncertain.
Facing Mya, Luke asked, “Did you set this up?”
Mya replied, “I had nothing to do with it. But Luke, just remember: when Madelyn gets here, you’re going to wish you hadn’t done any of this.” She took off a bracelet from her wrist and threw it to the ground where it broke into pieces. Mya stood up straight, looking very sure of herself.
Luke’s panic grew. He tried to reassure himself: if anyone intended to confront them, they would be here by now. He wondered if Blake was truly upset or just acting. Taking Mya’s hand, he addressed the crowd, “I get that you don’t approve of Mya and me, Blake. But this is about the Harpers. Why bring in someone not part of our family? Think of Mya’s father. He’s in the hospital. Wouldn’t he be disappointed by what you’re doing?”
Luke emphasized “Mya’s father”, his gaze cold and distant.
Blake shot back, “That’s a low blow, even for you.” She then recalled that her uncle, Simon Harper, remained at Luke’s mercy.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 798
“If the CEO of Jardin Corporation and Madelyn are coming, they’ll be welcomed,” Luke declared. “You said she’d be coming, right? Let’s wait twenty minutes. If they don’t show up, we’ll start the party.”
“Alright, twenty minutes,” Mya replied. “We aren’t scared.” Luke’s aunt chimed in, “It’s like we’ve never met important people before. What’s the big deal?”
A teenage boy sitting nearby turned to his sister and asked, “Do you think Mya knows the woman from the Jent family? I’ve never heard Mya mention her.”
“I don’t know, so quit asking!” she replied, clearly irritated.
“Did you sneak into Mya’s closet and wear her clothes again? I’ve told you, those outfits look good on Mya, but on you? Not so much,” he said.
“Ugh! You’re always talking about Mya. If you like her so much, why don’t you just make her your sister and leave me out of it?” she retorted.
The waitstaff at Supreme World set the table and cleaned everything up fast. Luke wanted fresh dishes. Only two minutes of the twenty remained. An old man, about eighty and using a cane, said. stood up. “Let’s start now,” he
“Agreed!” another guest replied. ” Luke, your grandpa isn’t feeling well. With this current drama, there’ll be gossip. How can he go around Ventropolis without folks talking?”
Another person said, “Right. I think the talk about someone important coming is just a rumor. We paid so much money, but where’s the security? Shouldn’t they be removing the troublemakers?”
Blake wished she had Madelyn’s number.
“Maybe the CEO of Jardin Corporation won’t show up,” someone said. ” Considering his status and ours, it would make sense. Mya, what do you think?”
Suddenly, Mya turned to Luke, her face filled with distress. “I don’t want to be with you, and I certainly don’t want to marry you!” The thought of continuing with the dinner and potentially being tied to Luke forever made her heart race with fear.
Luke had already called the hotel’s security. Large men in suits quickly restrained Blake.
“What are you doing? Let me go! There are still two minutes left! Luke, you jerk!” Blake yelled.
Luke remained unfazed, his s eyes gleaming with greed. Pointing to a painting hidden by a cloth, he sneered, “Toss that out too. Let’s see who’ll help you now, Mya.”
“I want to see who’s brave enough to touch her.”
Suddenly, a clear, confident voice captured the room’s attention. Guests turned, their expressions showing surprise and curiosity, as they looked toward the entrance.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 799
The hotel manager noticed a commotion and was surprised by what he saw. Spotting Kevin, he quickly asked, “What are you doing here, Kevin?”
“I’m with him,” Blake chimed in.
Upon hearing this, the manager signaled the hotel’s security to release Blake, who then ran to stand by Kevin’s side. Blake looked up at Kevin. “Ms. Jent didn’t mention you’d be here.” Seeing him was unexpected, but then again, it did not matter.
Kevin’s presence radiated authority. It was no secret in Ventropolis how influential Jardin Corporation was. Yet, seeing Kevin at this event took many by surprise. After all, Jardin Corporation was a titan, making the Harper family seem ordinary compared to their immense influence, Many wondered about the reason behind such a dominant figure associating with the Harpers.
Without saying a word, Kevin briefly looked at Blake. He then addressed Mya, “Ms. Jent will be a bit longer. In the meantime, Mr. Jardin asked me to come early to present the birthday gifts.” Kevin signaled his bodyguards, who stepped forward with beautifully wrapped gift boxes. “I hope these gifts meet your expectations, Ms. Harper.”
The bodyguards lined up and unveiled dazzling jewelry and fine silk scarves from the boxes. This immediately sent the guests buzzing with excitement.
“Is this for real? That necklace, isn’t it from Paris Fashion Week? The super expensive one?”
“I thought that was super rare! How did Jardin Corporation snag it?”
“I tried to get one too. No dice.”
“And see that blue ring? Isn’t that the Tear of the Ocean? I heard it sold for $ 30 million at a charity event.”
“Do the Harpers and the Jardins know each other well? I mean, a $30 million dollar gift? That’s wild.”
“Man, the Harpers really are making this party huge. Getting gifts from the Jardins? They’re the talk of Ventropolis right now.”
“These gifts have got to be worth a fortune, like a hundred million or so.”
“This is next level!”
At the prestigious Supreme World golf course, Zach wrapped his arms around. Madelyn. Guided by him, she swung a golf club, sending a ball high into the sky, curving until it disappeared from view.
“Are you sure about giving away those jewels?” Zach asked.
The jewelry Mya received was originally Madelyn’s, a gift from Zach. Though it sat untouched in Madelyn’s closet, she thought Mya would appreciate it more. “It’s no big deal,” Madelyn said, shrugging. She never put much stock in material possessions.
Given Zach’s vast wealth, these gifts were just small gestures. In a previous life, he had gifted Cecilia a mansion valued at over ninety million in Venturian currency and a luxury car worth more than seven million in Venturian currency, making these jewels appear modest by comparison.
“The party should be wrapping up soon, don’t you think?” Madelyn asked.
The banquet hall was located on the second floor of the hotel. From where they stood on the golf course, they could clearly see the activities inside the grand hall. Spotting Madelyn’s curiosity, a bodyguard offered a black Bluetooth earpiece. Zach took it and handed it to her, asking, “Want to tune in?”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 800
The bodyguard took the golf club from Zach and set it aside. Madelyn put on her Bluetooth earpiece, and instantly, she heard Blake’s argumentative voice. ‘Wow, she’s really loud.’
“Do you have any shame? These gifts are obviously for my cousin, Mya. Trying to snag them before the wedding’s even a sure thing? Think you deserve them? You all act like ungrateful, shameless jerks. You’re just like bullies and thieves!”
One of the ladies defiantly pointed at Blake and snapped, “All these will be ours soon anyway; so why not take them now?”
“Fine! Take them if you dare!” Blake retorted. “But if you do, I’ll break your hands.”
Kevin gave Blake a thoughtful look, his eyes deep in thought. He admired her courage.
“Let’s take what belongs to us,” the lady challenged. An old lady gazed at the jewelry, thinking, “These are worth so much money… More than I could ever spend in a lifetime.’
“How long’s the sentence for robbery, Blake?” Kevin asked. Blake replied, “Between three and ten years.”
Kevin remarked, “Impressive! You’ve brushed up on your legal know-how. But remember, the items from Jardin Corporation are more than just valuable – they could get someone locked up for life. Always guard what’s yours, since not everyone has the privilege to handle such things.”
Mya shot a look at Luke. “I warned you she’d come. I want your family and friends out. I can’t face you right now.”
Another lady stood abruptly, her eyes wide with disbelief. “Why does she want us to leave, Luke? That’s a huge mansion. If not us, who’s supposed to live there?”
Luke’s face turned pale. He struggled to find the right words, his voice wavering. As he saw Mya turn away coldly, panic set in. “Mya, I realize I was wrong to pressure you into marriage, but did you have to humiliate me like that in public? I thought you cared about me? If you’re not ready for marriage, I’ll wait.”
With newfound courage, Mya looked him in the eye. “Let me be clear – I’ll never forgive what you did to me. I’m calling the cops to kick all of you out of my house.”
“You think you’re so clever, brat? To be a Graham, you must follow our rules and recognize that these belongings should be ours. If not, you’re not one of us. Blake rolled her eyes on Mya’s behalf. ” Like she cares!”
Kevin met Mya’s gaze, maintaining a calm demeanor. “You have nothing to worry about, Mya. Your father is safe and back home with the Harper family.”
Mya blinked, processing the information. “Is my father truly back?”
With a nod, Kevin replied, “Yes.”
