Ch. 131..135: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 131-135
Back Where 131
I made my way towards the Lycan Kingdom throne chamber, my chest tightening. Princess Mearez had departed with only one word.
“Come see me before you leave.”
I knew she wanted to discuss my arm, and I swallowed hard at the thought of how Lycannar would feel if he ever found out.
I passed the scroll back to Jurrek, who walked beside me, and said,
“We’ll depart soon. Let me say my farewell to the King.”
He nodded, and as we moved into the quieter, heavily guarded area, I slowed down..
Ahead stood the massive, impenetrable gate, and off to the side the courtyard opened wide. There, I spotted a carriage bearing the Blackbridge crest, and another with the Hue Pack insignia.
Without being told, I already knew they had arrived.
“Isn’t that your carriage?” Jurrek pointed out, and I paused to stare. “The one His Majesty gifted you?”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Isn’t that the same one I was brought in, nights ago, after I passed out?”
“No. You rode with the princesses in their carriage. I followed on horseback.”
I
sighed when the answer came. Then Dessyn was also here, in that case.
Turning back towards the throne room, I resumed my steps, but Jurrek’s hand caught my arm, stopping
me.
“Don’t you think it’s rude to just… walk in while a meeting is going on?”
At that question, I smiled.
“Watch this.”
I walked up to the grand entrance and stood there as if waiting for the session to end. From that vantage, I could see the elders and guests gathered for questioning. But it was the King my eyes lingered on, and my heart constricted.
He wasn’t seated on his throne. He wore no crown, and yet no one in the chamber could match the sheer force of aura he carried.
Lycannar sat at the table, hands resting on the surface, eyes scanning a report. He looked almost bored, but I knew he missed nothing.
Then his gaze lifted, pale gold eyes locking onto mine and in that instant, I realized what I had completely
overlooked.
Regret consumed me.

The Lycans were no cowards. The former King may have been cruel, but he had raised a great man. For that alone, I could forgive every sin he had committed.
“Zephyrine.”
My name left Lycannar’s lips softly as he rose and came forward to take my hand.
“You okay?”
He pulled me further into the chamber, and I fixed my gaze on his face, smiling gently. All that mattered was him. Only him.
“I’m fine,” I answered softly. In response, he leaned down, brushing his lips over mine.
He was the only one who pampered me, even knowing I was strong. He dominated me, and I loved it. Loved to submit, because he made me feel cherished, safe, whole.
My eyes searched his beautiful features/those pale, piercing eyes, his plump lips, the thick eyebrows, and the two rings threaded into them.
“You’re about to leave?” he asked, pulling me back to reality.
I nodded.
“Yes.” Then, on tiptoe, I pressed a kiss to his lips. “I enjoyed breakfast with your sisters.”
“Yeah.” His hand caressed through my hair the way he always did, and I smiled, lost in love until a throat cleared, dragging me back to the present.
I looked around and realized how many eyes were on us. Dessyn had been the one to clear her throat. Nyroth was present, as was Kaela. Princess Serena gave me a small, knowing smile, and I returned it. The elders looked on, so I bowed respectfully.
“Lycan,” I said, turning back to the King. “My beta, meet Jurrek.”
Jurrek Bane stepped forward, bowing before Lycannar. I stood aside to watch, expecting Lycannar to dismiss him with a glance. But instead, he did something I never imagined.
He offered his hand.
Jurrek, clearly startled, bowed lower before shaking it.
“Lycannar,” the King said. “Or Apex. Whichever you prefer.”
“Jurrek, Your Majesty.”
Jurrek straightened, nodding, and Lycannar’s voice was steady.
“I should thank you for standing with me on my coronation day, when the Rogue Alpha stormed my kingdom.”

“I did nothing, sire. You needn’t thank me.”
“I appreciate your kindness to Zephyrine. Thank you for caring for her.”
Jurrek nodded.
“Please, don’t mention it. I made a promise to her brother, that’s all. She is like a sister to me.”
My chest swelled with love and gratitude. Lycannar had shown my beta respect, and it had been reciprocated. He was a King, but still my man.

When his eyes returned to me, he held them there for a moment before taking my fingers tenderly.
“Before you leave, please… attend to an issue as my Queen,” he said, right there in the throne room.
The chamber stilled.
A bold declaration in broad daylight, with his elders present, his beta there. What was he trying to do?
“Lycannar…”
“Please,” he interrupted softly, entwining his fingers with mine. “It won’t take long. Hmm?”
I sighed helplessly. Why was it possible for a man to be so terrifyingly powerful and yet so gentle?
I nodded, and he guided me into the chair he had just vacated. He pressed a kiss to my temple, then stepped back, folding his arms and leaving the floor to me.
My throat tightened. He was asking me to rule, to speak, command, and decide for his kingdom as his Queen.

Nervousness coiled in me, but so did something stronger. Inevitability.
Whether I wanted it or not. Whether the Moon Goddess approved or not. Lycannar had tasted me, and now he wanted all of me, until there was nothing left.
This was a declaration. The beginning.
I had asked the Orincess earlier if Lycannar was truly a warrior. His sisters had answered, and their words weighed heavy now.
“He’s fought more battles than you could ever count,” Princess Mearez had said. “The runes on his body was a spell to help him find peace for slaughtering so many. He commands his own army, not vast, not more than enough to fill an arena, yet they return victorious, always. No one can stop him unless he wills it. That’s why Father feared him, why he shackled him with restraints, with the Black Tower, with chains and use us, his sisters, to weaken him. Even the Moon Goddess herself, his foremother, is wary of him. Lycannar is a warlord. On the battlefield, they call him Apex. Apex Blood.”

The smile had withered off my face, and my eyes were fixed on Princess Serena, who had also slipped into her working mode. With the King present, neither of us would risk disappointment.
“At the afterparty of the beta ascension ceremony” Serena began, her voice clear, “Kaela Yadev, a werewolf, humiliated a maid from this Kingdom. Alpha Nyroth of the Hue Pack is here today as her accomplice. He too will have to apologize.”
A hush fell over the chamber. Slowly, I lifted my gaze to the maid. She was young, beautiful, about Blue’s age, and my chest ached for her. All I could think of was Luna Tahlia, how Nyroth and Kaela ruined her reputation until I stopped the rumors with blood.
“Are you okay?” I asked at last. She bowed respectfully.
“I am fine, my lady.”
“Do you need an apology?” I pressed, and she glanced nervously at Nyroth, who refused to look her way, then at Kaela, who glared. Finally, she returned her gaze to me.
“I… I don’t want any problem. I am perfectly fine.”
I studied her, then gave a small nod.
“When next they strike you, you’ll be fine too, won’t you?”
“My lady…”
“Or perhaps when they accuse you of theft, or blackmail you, you’ll still want no problem, and you’ll be fine?”
Her lips trembled as she stared, then lowered her gaze, shaking her head.
“If they apologize… what will that change?” she whispered. “It won’t erase that night, how she called me an omega and poured wine in my face. It won’t… undo the way she looked at me, as though I was nothing.”
“And yet you’d let them off?” I asked, steady. She looked up again, hesitant.
“My family once went to war, the Ashmeres,” I told her. “Do you know why? Because at a certain festival, a noble raped one of our maids. By morning, he apologized, and my father forgave him because the maid wanted peace, just like you. She thought being an omega made her worthless. That she deserved no justice. That it won’t make any impact. The next festival, it happened again. Another apology, another forgiveness. By the third, he paid with his life. Omegas…” My voice hardened. “Being an omega makes them believe they are nothing. But that is a lie. You must stand for yourself. For your rights. And as a Lycan this is why you have a King. In your own Kingdom, no outsider, no werewolf, has the right to humiliate you. Not here.”
I let the silence hang until my words sank into her bones. When I finally looked up again, her eyes brimmed and she sniffled softly.

“I demand an apology,” she said at last, voice trembling but sure. “Because I am not useless. Not worthless. And I refuse to be humiliated in the Kingdom I was born into.”
I nodded firmly in support, then turned my gaze straight to Kaela.
“Go on,” I said, cutting through the silence. “Apologize for pouring wine in her face.”
Kaela, seated across from me, set her jaw.
“I have come with compensation instead.” She gestured at the maid. “What do you say to a chest of gold and expensive…”
“Apologize.” My voice cracked like a whip, and she snapped her glare toward me. “Keep your stolen compensation to yourself. No Lycan will accept it. Apologize for your rudeness.”
Her lips pressed into a thin line. Defiance blazed in her eyes.
“How about letting the maid decide?” she countered, turning back to the girl. “Which will serve you better? A fortune to free you from servitude forever or an apology that means nothing?”
The silence was sharp. We all waited.
The maid lifted her chin, her voice steady now.
“Just because we are maids does not mean we cannot afford the dresses you wear. This is the Lycan Kingdom. Since our new King’s reign, things have changed. We are compensated well enough. Thank you for the offer, but I will go with an apology.”
A smile tugged my lips before I could stop it. The girl had struck Kaela where it hurt, and satisfaction bloomed in me.
Kaela’s jaw locked. She turned, bowing stiffly to the maid.
“I apologize for spilling wine on you.”
The chamber stilled. Then came a soft, mocking chuckle from Dessyn, who delighted in Kaela’s humiliation. Kaela glared, but said nothing.
My eyes shifted at last to Nyroth.
“Princess Serena?” I asked.
She nodded.
“He is summoned to apologize as well. He arrived with Kaela Yadev and occupied the Hue Pack seat. That makes him responsible for her misdeeds.”
This time I nearly laughed aloud. Fitting.
“I won’t apologize, Zeph,” Nyroth said before I could speak. His eyes fixed on me, sharp and wounded. “If → this is your way of punishing me for our past, it is unfair.”
I stared back at him, blank. We were finished. All ties severed. And yet, he clung to something unresolved,
“Zeph… why didn’t you tell me you were an Ashmere?” Thɪs chapter is updated by

“Zeph, we need to talk. There’s so much left between us. You wronged me by hiding who you are. You…”
His words cut short. Slowly, I turned to see Lycannar had stepped forward, one broad palm pressed flat on the table, his pale–gold eyes locked onto Nyroth’s. He had never done such a thing before, never wasted words on strangers. Yet here he was.
“This session is not for your wounded feelings,” Lycannar said, voice low, threaded with warning. “Choose your words carefully. I have no patience when it comes to my woman.”

Lycannar is a warlord. Nyroth is nothing but an Alpha. To even compare them is an insult. Gently, I reach for Lycannar’s palm and place mine on it, anchoring him back to me.
He stares directly into Nyroth’s eyes, holding his gaze to make a statement, and after a long moment, Nyroth sets his jaw, lowers his gaze, and whispers an apology to the maid.
“I apologize to you.”
Silence falls again after that. At last, Lycannar pushes away from the table and walks toward the window, speaking over his shoulder.
“Get out of my kingdom. Both of you.”
Nyroth rises, casting a glance at me before leaving in silence.
Kaela follows without a word. I sigh once their presence is gone and rise to turn toward where Lycannar
stands.
“He is so possessive. You had better calm him, or he’ll kill again,” Princess Serena whispers near me, and I swallow.
Quietly, I walk over to him, resting my palm on his shoulder.
“Lycan?” He doesn’t respond at first, staring into empty space. I watch his eyes dim slightly, the color shifting. Then he turns to me and pulls me into a gentle hug, his face buried into my hair. It feels like he’s trying to calm himself through me.
Slowly, he pulls back to caress my face, sighing softly.
“Lycan…” I call again, panic tightening my chest, because I know he saw something in Nyroth’s eyes. “Lycannar…”
“I will kill him,” he declares abruptly, as if it’s a casual truth. As he always does. “I’ll strangle him without breaking a sweat, Zephyrine. If he dares stare at you again, I’ll pluck his eyes out. I swear it.”
A chill runs through me. Before I can speak, he bypasses me and walks back to the table, leaving me frozen by the window.
Outside, I see Nyroth climbing into his carriage, never once looking at Kaela as she does the same. They
ride out.
For a while, I only stare. Lycannar can be calm for a time, but eventually, he will go berserk. I know he will. Lowering my gaze, I exhale shakily.
It is only a matter of time. Even I cannot tame him.
When I turn back, he is seated at the table again. The room is silent, everyone waiting for him to cool down,
and I understand.

Dessyn has already left the table, the maid too, and both are speaking quietly with Princess Serena at the side. I sigh and approach them.
Dessyn quickly walks up to me.
“Zephyr. Are you okay?”
I don’t answer, only squeeze her hand briefly before turning to Princess Serena.
“I will leave now. Please, send my regards to Princess Mearez.”
She smiles and draws me into a hug.
“You did well today on your first duty as our queen. I had planned to tutor you on elegance, but I see there is no need.”
I smile faintly.
The maid bows before me, but I stop her, unwilling to let her belittle herself.
“Don’t settle for less. You’re only an omega, not filth. You are a Lycan, that means something. If you ever feel threatened, you know who to go to. It will reach the King’s ear, I promise. Hmm?” Follow current novᴇls on
She nods, bowing again in gratitude
“Thank you so much, my lady.”
I smile and watch as she departs with Princess Serena. Soon, only Dessyn, Jurrek, and I remain.
“I’ll say my goodbye to the King,” I tell them. Jurrek nods.
“I’ll wait by the horse.”
They leave, while I turn back to Lycannar. He’s still quiet, and for a moment, I wonder if something more weighs on him.
“Lycan?” He raises his head, leaning back in his chair.
“I’m about to leave,” I say.
He nods and rises.
“Let me walk you.” His hand rests against the small of my back as he leads me out.
I bow once more to the elders and his cousin, the Beta, before stepping away. With the King beside me, I can barely breathe, especially now when he seems so furious.
At last, when we reach my carriage, I stop and turn to him. Searching his eyes, I wind one hand around his neck and place the other against his chest.
“Lycannar… what’s wrong?”
He doesn’t answer. Instead, he leans down and claims my lips in a consuming, possessive kiss.
“I won’t lose you to anyone, Zephyrine. I swear I won’t.”

The weight of his words makes my heart heavy. His eyes don’t lie. He will do exactly as he says and I know why. People’s lives mean nothing to him, not when it comes to me.
I kiss him back gently before pulling away.
“Why did you send your coronation invitation to Ash Pack first, Lycan?” I ask. He stares at me before answering.
“Because I respect your brother.”
That answer makes my chest tighten. He speaks as though he knows Varyn deeply.
“I will hold a ceremony to celebrate my ascension as Alpha, and the first invitation will be sent to the Lycan Kingdom. I will invite you and your family to rejoice with me. And this is because of you, Lycannar, only you. You are the only man I love. No one else will have me. And no one will have you except me. Tell Princess Mearez I left. Tell her I’ll be fine”
I brush my lips against his tenderly, then step back, climbing into my carriage. Jurrek spurs his horse, and we ride out of the Lycan Kingdom.

Dessyn coughed gently, then shifted closer beside me. When she tried it again, I turned and stared.

It was as if she had been waiting for that question. She turned fully toward me while the carriage wheeled toward White Pack.
“So… how did he react to the news?”
I nearly scoffed.
“I should have known you’d want the story.”
“The full story,” she pressed eagerly. “I mean, you’re an Alpha and no longer tied to any man, Zephyr. You’re an Ashmere. That’s overwhelming. You’re a jackpot for every man who could have you.”
Those words sank into me and I smiled, almost sadly.
“And to Lycannar?”
She hesitated, then nodded.
“Apex is a jackpot too. A man women would kill for. He’s a king, he’s wealthy, handsome…”
“And a warlord,” I added softly, watching her flinch. “And Apex is also his real name.”
She froze, staring at me. After a few seconds she swallowed, looked away, and sighed.
“He definitely looks like a warrior. That broad shoulder, solid chest, strong forearm… I wonder what it’d be like to lean on him and…” She got lost in her words until she noticed my stare. I couldn’t believe she said all
that.
“Dessyn!”
She jerked back, clearing her throat.
“I’m… I’m sorry. Forgive me. But you can’t blame me. He’s such a sexy man, why would you…”
“Dessyn!”
She looked away, sealing her lips. It lasted only a few seconds before she turned back to me again.
“So, how did he react to your true identity?”
At that, I shrugged lightly.
“He already knew I was an Alpha, so that didn’t surprise him. But the Ashmere truth… that stunned him. We talked into the night.”
“And…”

“And nothing. We made love and just… slept off.”
Dessyn went silent. I searched her eyes, wondering why she had gone mute.
“Love? I thought you said you were abiding by the Moon Goddess‘ wishes.”
At that, I realized I had slipped. But when I looked into her eyes again; I saw realization dawn, followed by a
slow smile before she shoved me playfully.
“Lucky you. I can’t believe you did that before me.”
I shook my head and looked out the carriage window with a sigh. She was such a crazy fellow.
She called to me again, but I ignored her. Just then, I spotted the carriage waiting ahead. A small frown drew on my face when I recognized it.
“Isn’t that Nyroth?” Dessyn asked. I turned to her in surprise. She had seen him too. “What does he want from you again after everything he’s done?”
I didn’t respond. My jaw tightened as the carriage slowed when Nyroth stepped into the road.
“Zeph?” He came to the window, calling my name, but I didn’t answer.
Jurrek, riding alongside on horseback, saw my disinterest. He nodded to the coachman to keep going.
The carriage rolled past Nyroth without a word. I exhaled softly once he was left behind. Such a pain in my life. I was glad, relieved, I had rejected him.
I leaned back in my seat, only to find Dessyn staring at me in silence.
“You know Nyroth is also a hard man. Persistent. When he was in love with Kaela, he waited five whole years for her to return. Starved himself of sex just to keep himself faithful to her.”
“You don’t know Lycannar, do you?” I murmured. “He’s not a man who wastes time being patient. He takes whatever he wants, whenever he wants. A man like Nyroth is no match for him.”
“What about for you?” she asked softly, all jokes gone. “Do you think you can handle Nyroth? I know how much you love the Lycan King now… but Zephyr, apart from Nyroth’s stupid attitude, you know he was your first love.”
My chest tightened at her words. She had seen straight through my brave expression and struck the nail on
the head.
Before I could reply, the carriage wheeled to a stop before the Dusk household. I stepped out before Jurrek could come over to help.
“Pack sweet pack,” Dessyn breathed.
“Home sweet home,” I replied.
We stepped into the living room, me already tired, when I froze in surprise at the doorway.

Delicious dishes sprawled across the table, and a few guests filled the room. Blue was busy setting the table, but the instant she saw me, she rushed over.
“My lady…” she called, and I swallowed hard. How much I missed her.
“What’s going on? What’s the occasion?”
“To congratulate you for finally being free from a killing mate bond,” Dessyn answered from behind. I turned to stare at her. “It’s a surprise. I couldn’t tell you on the way.”
“Congratulations, Zephyr.”
The voice came from behind me, and I turned. Moon. Gorgeous as always, handsome as ever.
He stepped forward, smiling, genuinely happy for me.
“I’m excited to see you finally free from the mate bond.”
Goosebumps rose on my skin when he stepped closer, reached for my fingers, and pulled me gently into his

He had always been like this, hugging/me without caring for the audience or my status. I rested my head on his chest.
Though he wasn’t as rugged, as solid, or as dangerous as Lycannar, Moon was his exact opposite. And just as I felt safe in Lycannar’s arms, I also felt safe in Moon’s but in a different way.

The carriage stopped in my pack, yet again I found no peace. Not once. It began to dawn on me how much it hurt. Agonizing, even, to see her happy in another man’s arms.
I sat still in that seat, recalling the first time I stepped into the Lycan Kingdom. Apex had stared at Zeph without blinking. That day, I was mad. Now I understand the reason behind that anger. It was jealousy.
I sighed heavily, wondering how to gain her attention now. She would not talk to me and… gods… that unsettling king never left me a chance at all.

“Brother?! Brother!!” Olivia’s panic call dragged me back to reality. I stepped out of the carriage just as she rushed toward me, breathless..
My eyes shifted from her face to where she had run from.
“You went out?” I asked, moving my gaze from the gate back to her.
“Mother. You have to stop her,” she gasped once she caught her breath.
I raised a brow, confused.
“How do you mean? Is Mother not inside?” I asked angrily, but she shook her head frantically.
“She went to Blackbridge Pack. She swore to make Kaela regret ever using you and lying to you.”
I froze instantly at those words. I stiffened. Kaela. Blackbridge Pack. Oh no.
“Get inside. I will be back,” I commanded my sister before rushing toward Blackbridge Pack.
I knew who they were, the Yadevs, and I knew what they could do. Only days ago, we had spoken of ruining the Ashmere reputation, believing them powerless since they shut their gates for five years. But those plans were canceled. The pack we thought Alphaless wasn’t weak after all.
I arrived in no time, just to hear my mother’s voice yelling.
I froze at my feet, then arrived.

Hastily, I entered the hall, pushing open the doors to the wide living room just as my mother glared daggers at Kaela. My mother was seething, as usual, while Kaela stood defiant. Alpha Yadev was present, with his guards and men surrounding him.
“You harlot. You made him lose everything. You will pay for that,” my mother spat furiously, but Kaela only smirked.
“Your son is nothing but a fool. I owe him nothing. Did he not tell you I gave him my body too?”
My mother stepped closer, shaking with rage.
“If you had not lied about saving him, he would never have fallen for trash like you. You never know what it

means to be mated. You made him reject his mate, you prostitute! I should have chased you off the day you set foot in Hue Pack after you returned from that so–called mission of yours.”
Kaela matched her fury, then lowered her gaze with a mocking smile.
“I have nothing more to say to you, old hag. Get out of this pack.” She turned her eyes to me and sneered. “With your loser son.”
That hit a nerve. My mother moved to slap her, but Kaela retaliated, catching her wrist before any impact landed.
My mother’s face shifted to shock and hatred as Kaela’s eyes blazed with a deathly warning.
“If you ever try that with me again… you will not see tomorrow.” She dropped her wrist roughly, leaving my mother pale from the threat. “And if you ever barge into my pack again, I’ll make sure you know the truth that being called the first female envoy of peace is nothing but a lie.”
My mother staggered back, shaken, and I rushed to steady her before she collapsed. Just then, Kai burst into the living room, panting as though he had run here.
“Mother!” he cried, panicked, as I passed her into his arms and stepped toward Kaela.
It struck me then that she was truly ready to cast me aside, but I needed one answer before I let her go.
“Why?” I asked, my voice low. “Why did you lie about being my savior years ago? They call you an envoy of peace, yet all you’ve done is bring chaos. Is this how you were taught to keep peace?”
She stared at me in silence, then leaned closer, her voice a whisper.
“I was never an envoy of peace, Nyroth. I only traded blood for power and they gave me the title.”
Stunned, I could only watch her pull back with a smile.
“No need to get worked up. We both used one another to get what we wanted. But now, I’m afraid our little escapade ends here. I have a new man my mother arranged for me. I’ll be dining with him tonight. Wish me luck and I wish you luck too, in whatever future endeavors you may find.”
She glanced once more at my mother, then walked away, leaving me cold and stunned. I stood there a long moment before moving to the exit, the dawning truth heavy in me.
Kai had already brought a carriage. He helped my Mother inside while I followed in silence.
As the carriage rolled away from Blackbridge, Mother leaned on me, still pale and shaken by Kaela’s threat. I understood her fear.
We passed through the crowded lane, people parting for the wheels. But among them, one figure caught my attention, his energy pierced me, lingering in a way I could not name. I turned to glance from the window, and there he stood apart from the crowd, his eyes locked on me until we vanished from sight.
