Ch. 161..165: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 161-165
Back Where 161
I made my way toward him, but he didn’t react, didn’t even give the slightest sign that he could feel my presence. He just stood there, unmoving, and I walked carefully until I was right before him, silent and cautious.
I never knew in the past, but now I am fully aware of how much he scares me. How terrified I am of his wrath. Of his silence. Of the thought that he might never forgive me.
“It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?” I said softly, and to my surprise, he lifted his gaze to the sky.
That simple movement made my heart clench. How perfect can a man be?
I watched him stare at the sky briefly before lowering his gaze again. Then silence. Heavy, suffocating silence. My panic rose instantly. He must be mad.
“You don’t drink? There’s plenty of wine in the hall.”
“I am dangerous when I’m drunk,” he replied, his voice low, calm. Again, my heart clenched. He wasn’t scolding me. Somehow that felt even worse.
“Lycan…” I began, but before the words could form, he looked up at me, and everything I wanted to say died on my lips.
Gently, he reached for the saddlebag, pulled out an elegant white fur cloak, and carefully draped it over my shoulders. Then he stepped aside to study it.
“Looks perfect. Just your size,” he muttered, then lowered his gaze with that familiar frown. “I was… afraid it wouldn’t fit. It was a guess. I’m happy it fit. A present to your ascension. White looks good on you.”
A lump rose in my throat. For a moment I felt like weeping. He was truly mad this time. In the past, he would have turned away in silence, not even bothered with words. But now? Now he wasn’t asking questions, wasn’t saying anything about my trip. Just… cold.
The fur cloak weighed heavily on me, and I stepped closer to him.
“Lycan…” I whispered. “Lycan, I’m sorry.”
He didn’t speak. His eyes stayed fixed on the ground, and it tore me apart. How do you appease a cursed king?
“Lycannar?”
He looked into my eyes then, expressionless, unreadable.
“Lycan, I am truly sorry. I swear it.”
No words came. He held my gaze for a while, then nodded once, lowering his eyes again.
Silence. My chest heaved. Panic churned inside me. I reached for him, but the one glance he gave me froze my hand in midair. I went cold instantly.

“Don’t you dare,” he murmured, voice calm, so calm it was deadly. I knew, without doubt, he’d snap touched him now.

Frustration and fear collided with the ache of my brother’s fate, and my eyes burned with tears. His glare pressed on me like a crushing weight, and I couldn’t breathe.
“Lycan…” I called shakily, but he only looked away, jaw tight. “Lycan?”
“What am I to you?” he asked suddenly, looking back at me. My breath caught. “Did I ever mean anything? What’s between us… is it anything to you?”
I searched his eyes desperately, sniffled.
“You know how much you mean to me, Lycan?”
“I don’t,” he said flatly. The words shattered me. “I don’t know, Zephyrine. By the gods, I don’t know anything.”
“Lycan.” My voice cracked as I tried again, reaching for his forearm, only to pull back in fear he’d snap. “I can explain. Everything. I’m ready to open up if you’ll just listen. Please.”
He didn’t respond. Instead, his gaze dropped to my bare neck. A flicker passed through his eyes, and he swallowed hard.
The amulet.
“I didn’t wear it because I didn’t want you to worry,” I whispered. “I didn’t want to burden you, knowing how much you already carry.”
His stare silenced me. Then he turned away, sighing, stepping back to take his horse’s reins. My chest squeezed in shock.
“What are you doing?” I asked, confused.
“What else? Going home.”
“But… your sisters are here.”
“Baron will accompany them back.” He moved to mount, but I stepped into his way, breathless. He couldn’t leave.
“Lycan…”
“How would you feel,” he cut in, voice sharp, “if I disappeared from this empire and never returned? How would you feel, Zephyrine, if I left without a word?”
“Lycan…”
“I can do both, you know,” he said, almost like a confession. “I could vanish from your life, never speak to you again, and still, still, be this obsessed with you.”
Goosebumps swept across my skin. My knees weakened.
“If that’s what you want,” he pressed, pinning me with his gaze, “then go. Run on another suicide trip. Lie

again about where you’re headed. Do as you please. I give you my word, Zephyrine I will disappear from your life.”
I could barely breathe. Already I felt like I was walking on eggshells.
“I’m… sorry,” I stammered. “I won’t go… without telling you. Ever again.”
And I meant it. He had compelled the truth from me with nothing but his presence. I looked up into his eyes, my hand trembling as I brought out the amulet.
“Put it on me,” I whispered.
His eyes fell to my palm, then he picked it up, his hand circling my neck as he fastened the chain. I rested my head on his chest, and the moment it clicked into place, a jolt ran through me. My senses sharpened. The void around me vanished. My strength rose like a tide. Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on Find✶Novel.net
I gasped softly, pulling back. He was right. The amulet made me feel tied to him, bound, my perception heightened in every way.
“I’ll wear it always,” I promised quietly. “Now you’ll always know where I am.”
Before he could respond, I rose on tiptoe and kissed him, right there under the open sky. In public, for all the world to see.
Because he is mine. Only mine. And I don’t care what anyone says.
Lycannar Blood, the Lycan King, belongs to me.

Kiss. His lips on mine. I brushed over them tenderly and he didn’t respond for a heart–stopping moment until his hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me forward.
And like that, everything faded away. In Ash Pack, only the two of us remained, and all that mattered was me in his arms. He kissed me gently, and I began to crave more.
More than anything.
Just then, I overheard footsteps, voices drawing near. I broke off the kiss and stared into his eyes. Without hesitation, I entwined my fingers with his and pulled him along, leading us into the serene garden of Ashmere.
A sacred place no one dared cross without permission from a true–blooded Ashmere and only I remained.
There I stopped, chest heaving, and watched him gaze back at me. The soft breeze swirled around us, his eyes drifting from the white cloak on my shoulders to the necklace at my throat. His expression softened, and he threw caution aside.
He cupped my neck and pulled me forward into another kiss. Pure sensation overwhelmed me at his claim. My palm pressed against his chest as my eyes fluttered shut, lost in his touch, his tenderness.
His tongue slipped past my lips, and I surrendered,
going deeper. Until my fingers found the hem of his shirt, desperate to pull it away.
The connection between us thickened, the lust ignited. One moment I was on my feet kissing him, and the next, he had lifted me into his arms.
My legs wrapped around his waist as he pinned me against the wall of blooming flowers. His kiss turned urgent, stealing my breath until we tore apart, panting. His gaze locked on mine, and I saw it. The hunger. The same hunger mirrored in me, and we both knew what could quench
“I love your dress,” he murmured, eyes lingering at my cleavage. I blushed, knowing exactly what he meant.
“Lycan…”
“I want you.” It wasn’t a question. It was a declaration. And he didn’t wait for my response before his mouth found mine again.
I melted into him, forgetting myself in his arms. He lowered me to my feet only to turn me, undoing the straps of my gown with a swift hand.
In no time, the dress fell away, baring my breasts. His lips brushed my neck, his palm cupped one breast, and I sighed shakily as my legs trembled under his tender care.
“Lycan…” I breathed, and he answered with another kiss, pressed against the small of my back.
His hand slid up, circling my neck, guiding me into another kiss. I opened to him fully, marveling at how much our bodies demanded each other.

Then he turned me, his mouth closing over my nipple. A moan escaped me, my hands burying in his hair.
“Lycan…” I whimpered, but in answer, he tugged the rest of my gown away, leaving me bare beneath the moonlight. His lips trailed lower, exploring, until he reached my core, clit, sucking, licking, making my body quake.
A helpless sound broke from me as his tongue flicked lower, teasing at places that made me shiver.
He turned me back to face the wall, guiding my hands to brace against it. His fingers slid inside my butt, stretching, preparing me. My moans filled the night, growing louder as his tongue returned to taste me.
Then he pulled me back up, kissing me fiercely before lowering me to my knees.
I freed him quickly, his cock springing heavy and hot into my hands. I licked and sucked, stroking him until slick with my saliva. He groaned, pulling me up, turning me, and pressing his length at my entrance. Slowly, carefully, he eased into me from behind.
“Lycan…” I gasped, moaning as he filled me completely. He paused only a breath, then began moving, deep, steady thrusts that pulled cries from my lips.
He quickened, harder, deeper, until I was crying out with abandon.
We snapped. He pulled out, and I clawed at him, desperate, stripping him bare. Clothes scattered across the grass until I straddled him, sinking onto his cock, grinding down while his hands gripped my waist.
I leaned on him, moaning as his hips thrust upward, filling me again and again. The pleasure built sharp and fast, threatening to consume me.
He shifted us once more, laying me down against the grass, thrusting from behind while his fingers found my clitoris, rubbing, teasing, forcing me higher. Discover more novels at find·novel·net
“Lycan!” I screamed, as the world shattered. His release spilled into me at the very same moment mine burst free, squirting, trembling, crashing together in violent bliss.
We laid there, raw and emotional until he pulled out gently, turning me into his embrace. My head rested on his arm, my body limp, sated, and trembling. Around us, the garden stood silent and untouched, but for us it was holy.
Nothing mattered. Not the council, not the goddess, not even the empire.
Only us. Only this bond no law could sever, no curse could undo.

With the gentle breeze swirling around, I savored the moment of being in his arms. I loved how solid he felt and how protectively he held me. Tender, yet strong. But then the memories came flooding back, clenching my heart.
“You gave a perfect speech,” he murmured softly, and I lifted my eyes to his face.
“I did?”
At my question, he smiled gently.
“Well, apart from the burst of laughter. I mean the war part, that Ashmeres aren’t weak just because you didn’t fight for five years.”
I swallowed at his words and leaned back against his arm, my fingers sliding over his chest, across that tender mat of hair, and down to the runes etched in his skin, which I traced lightly with my fingertip.
“You know… I always believed a day like this would only be about Varyn,” I murmured softly. “My brother. That he’d take the throne and rule over us all.“.
“You’d make a good Alpha too.”
“Maybe not.” My whisper cracked, goosebumps rising on my skin as my voice shook. “Maybe not, Lycan. Maybe I’m not as strong as I think I am. As the world thinks I am.
He must have heard the condemnation in my voice, the buried frustration, because he pulled back to look at my face. The moment he saw the tears, he froze. I saw his eyes widen in awe, then he sat upright, stunned.
“Zephyrine…”
“Five years ago I lost everything, Lycannar.” I sniffed. “I lost who I was completely. I lost my father, my mother, my brother… and my peace.”
My sigh trembled as I fought to continue, swallowing back the tears choking me, though my heart ached unbearably.
“I found my parents‘ ashes and brought them home, but… I couldn’t find Varyn. My brother. That battle… something happened that day, and he vanished into thin air.”
He listened silently, his gaze steady, never interrupting.
“I was given the prize of defeating the demons in private. They hailed me as the goddess of war but at what cost? I couldn’t sleep in my own bed peacefully. Each time I close my eyes, it’s the demon war general I see. The nightmares drag me back, again and again, to that bloody day.”
I sniffed again, sighing to steady myself.
“I can’t give up on my brother, Lycannar. Varyn is the best brother, like you are to your sisters. Loving, protective, supportive. Since no body was found, I refuse to believe he’s dead. I’ve sent men searching for
him.”

I searched his eyes, noticing the shift in them, though he said nothing.
“I… through that, I found him, Lycannar.” My jaw set. “I didn’t see him directly, but he is an Ashmere. I can feel his energy. Yet I couldn’t do anything to save him. I am a warrior, and Varyn gave me nothing but loyalty all his life, and still I failed him. I retreated. The most humiliating thing an Ashmere can do. Since then, after confiding in my beta and my closest friend, I promised them I would make a plan, define our next movement but in truth, I don’t know what to do. Any mistake could cost Varyn his life. Any rash step could make him bleed, and I could never forgive myself if that happened. Never. I don’t know what to do, Lycannar. I don’t even know who to trust… or who I shouldn’t trust when even…”
“The Imperium Council.” Lycannar’s gentle voice cut in, making me go still.
“Lycannar?”
Instead of answering, he reached for his fur cloak on the floor. From within, he pulled out a cylindrical glass just like the one he had once used to send a letter to his brother Hades.
He extended the glass toward me, his gaze tender, solemn.
“Letters. I’ve sorted the dates. Go on, read them. You’ll understand why your whole family was wiped out in the war five years ago.”
I froze, cold creeping through me as I accepted the glass in confusion. His eyes were steady, carrying a weight as if he had known all along, as if he already held the answer.
I clutched the glass and watched him rise to his feet, dressing in silence. My heart pounded painfully. Slowly, I opened the lid and drew out the letters, a chill seeping into my bones as I began to read.
Back Where 164
The letters. They were evidence, truth, or no, lies spun by those the Ashmeres trusted and obeyed. Yet everything written felt too monstrous to be real. I stared at the last one before lifting my gaze to Lycannar. He was already dressed, arms folded across his chest, watching me closely.
“These can’t be true. How can the Imperium Council be the ones to instigate a war and still beg us Ashmeres to fight it?” I tried to ask firmly, but my voice came out broken. “These are lies, Lycan. Even Kaela being the envoy between the Shifter Empire and the Demon Realm… it’s all lies. She was hailed as the one who brought peace. She was gone for five years on that mission and…”
His silence made it worse, and I bit down on my lip to hold back a miserable sob. It can’t be true. It just
can’t.
Before despair swallowed me whole, Lycannar stepped forward. His eyes softened, and he drew me into his arms, solid, protective, tender.
“You can cry now. No one is watching.” His voice was low, soothing. “You don’t need to be too brave with me. I am your man, not your subject. Cry however you want.”
It broke me. The lump in my throat swelled until I thought I might choke. And then I did cry. Hard. For my brother, alive somewhere and suffering. For my parents, my people, for the warriors who had been deceived into dying for nothing. For the Ashmeres, tricked into slaughter.
But how? How could it have happened? And more, how did he know? Where did these letters come from?
“I told you before, Zephyrine,” Lycannar began softly, as if he could feel my questions tearing me apart. “Not every battle makes it into history… and not every war was meant to be fought. I was a Lycan warlord once, blessed with an army of my own. Not vast, Not less than three hundred and fifty, but feared. Every campaign we led ended in massacre. We always won. Always returned home victorious.”
I pulled back, staring at him unblinking.
“My father hardened me from childhood. You can’t imagine the horrors I was forced to endure. Becoming a warrior, rising to warlord, was like breathing. Bloodshed was second nature. I started as nothing, a foot soldier. No privilege for being a prince. I clawed my way up. Eventually, I earned the warlord’s medal, commanded my own men, and led the Blood Army into every battle.” His eyes dimmed, voice edged with bitterness. “But my victories never pleased my father. He feared me. Feared that with men loyal to me, I would rise too high. I will be too dangerous So he plotted to strip me of my army… and rid himself of me.”
“But… these letters. They bear the Demon King’s crest,” I whispered, shaking my head.
“They’re written in my father’s hand. I would know it anywhere.” His jaw tightened. “I was only sickened that the Demon King, whom I respected, played along. I had won countless wars for him. I bled for him.” His gaze met mine, heavy with weight. “And you think the portal you sealed was the only one? There’s another, in the Lycan Kingdom itself.”
My breath caught.
“W…what?”

“Ashmeres were feared. Too dangerous. The Council must have spoken with the Demon King. Together, they made their choice, to erase you Ashmeres. And my army was to vanish with you. So they fixed the battle.”

weren’t there,” I whispered. “A letter came the final day saying the Warlord would not fight.”
He nodded grimly.
“The full moon. No matter my strength, on that night, I lose myself. My senses drown in madness, even to those I love. They lock me away until it passes. When I woke, I was told my army had been sent anyway. Without me. Placed on the front line, isolated from all others. It was a death sentence.”
I swallowed hard, heart racing.
“My uncle Ureh brought word. He told me the battle was treachery, that the Werewolves would be betrayed. That my men were already as good as dead. And though I was still raw from the moon, I couldn’t stay away. I donned my armor, mounted my horse, and rode to the field.” His eyes darkened.
“I arrived to rain arrows aflame, flying from Ashmere bows. Your parents were there, fierce and unyielding. True warriors. But by then, every one of my Blood Army was already gone. Slaughtered before I could reach them.”
A shiver tore through me. My heart clenched painfully. My family killed his men… and still he has shown me nothing but love.
“Lycan…” I whispered, my voice breaking.
“By the time I reached the battlefield, the ground was already drenched in blood. Ashmere warriors had fallen, and so had mine. Everyone was retreating back to camp. To the demon warlord, there was no apology for my men’s deaths. He insisted he had only followed orders beyond his will. He had placed my army in the frontlines, isolated. But he vowed the Ashmeres would pay for it.”
His pale–gold eyes caught mine, steady and piercing, and I braced myself for what he would say next.
“I love shedding blood more than you can imagine, Zephyrine. Revenge too. I have lived by an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. But I swear to you, that is not what happened in camp. I carried my uncle’s warning that the werewolves would be betrayed, slaughtered. I never asked how he knew, but I never doubted him. And before long, the truth came. The messenger we sent to returned with your parents, carrying grim news that the Ashmere camp was aflame. The warlord and generals had been butchered in their sleep.”
I froze. My breath caught in my chest.
“The Abyss warlord and I mounted our horses and rode into the Ashmere camp. We found only ruins. Your kind surrounded their own, arrows let loose mercilessly right before my eyes.”
My knees weakened, but Lycannar’s hand closed around mine, steady and grounding.
“Cornered by their own kind, trapped by werewolves they trusted, the Ashmeres fought back, but they were stunned, betrayed. They fell one by one. Among the last still standing was your brother, Varyn.”
Lycannar’s expression softened, his features drawn with memory.
“Your brother fought fiercely, Zephyrine. He tried with everything he had to reach your parents, but they were already dead. And when the attackers turned on him, I… I chose to intervene. I had no reason to. The Ashmeres had slaughtered my men; I should have left him to his fate. But I didn’t. Though I had sworn not to fight that night, though the full moon still lingered in my veins, I rode into the chaos. It took a single slash, claw marks that never heal unless by a rare–born healer. I tore through the betrayers and pulled the last of the Ashmeres out alive.”
I stared at him, stunned, my lips parting in disbelief. Memories of Varyn’s words returned, a whisper in my mind. My heart stammered in my chest as I breathed, almost to myself,
“You… you were the monster he wrote of? The one who saved him?”
He arched a brow, then shrugged faintly.
“I shifted that night. I couldn’t stop it. The aftermath of the full moon. I lost control. After tgw rescue your brother stayed with the Abyss warriors afterward. There he learned the truth that the battle was never meant to be fought. Your kind had been told demons were invading; demons were told werewolves sought their realm. Lies spun to ignite war. Varyn bowed to me, asked if there was any way to undo the dead, to bring back my men. But I forgave him. The Blood Army always knew death would claim them sooner or later. I have seen it too. It was my failure as a warlord not to shield them more.”
A shadow passed across Lycannar’s gaze. The pain there made my chest ache and there I understood then what my brother meant when he wrote of ‘world within world.’

He meant the truth of Lycans and demons.

“Eventually, he left with his men.” Lycannar continue. “They retreated with honor, bowing to the Abyss warriors and earning respect. I watched him ride away, and I left too. That day I hung my armor for good, left my blades to gather dust. I funded every family of my Blood Army for life, but nothing replaced the men themselves. From then on, I withdrew. I believed Varyn would make it home safely. But now, hearing from you that he vanished on the battlefield five years ago… it means he never did. Yet I swear it, Zephyrine, I saw him leave.”
The truth left me hollow. I dropped my gaze, leaning into him as guilt clawed through me. My heart ached unbearably. If only I could turn back time, warn my parents, keep them from that war. Tell them the Blood Army was not their enemy, that their warlord was not the monster whispered in campfires but a man, an apex predator, yes, but one who would never strike unless dared.
“How can I ever repay the lives of your men, Lycannar?” My voice trembled, thick with shame. “How can I walk into your kingdom without my conscience tearing me apart?”
He gently tilted my chin, pressing his lips to mine. His kiss silenced the storm of my guilt.
“If I had led that battle, I would have slain your kind as well. I don’t believe in passing the sins of parents onto their children. My obsession for you was born long before I knew who you truly were, and it will never change. Nothing will make me turn away from you.”
I searched his face, stunned at his unwavering resolve. Still, he wanted me. Still, he loved me.
“Lycan…” I whispered, overwhelmed, and he kissed me again, drawing me against his chest. My hand pressed to his heart, and for the first time, I felt the weight lift. I wasn’t as broken or lost as I had been moments ago.
When he pulled back, I moved away only to dress, then reached for his hand.
“You can stay away from the Black Tower for one night, can’t you?” I asked, and when he straightened, he nodded.
“Then come. Pass the night in my bedchamber. Make love to me again. Earlier I held back, afraid of being caught, but now I don’t care. Let them gossip, let them scorn. I am yours. Let my love and devotion repay the lives of your army. I know it isn’t a fair trade, but it is what I can give.”
I hadn’t even finished when he pulled me into another kiss, fierce and claiming. And when I lowered my gaze, I knew I was his. Entirely his.
