I moaned, soft, broken, passion flaring through my bones, heating my heart, and stirring me awake. With my thighs trembling gently, I realized what had roused me.
It was him. Lycannar.
“Ohh…” I gasped into my pillow when his tongue found the sweetest spot, when he closed his mouth over my clit.
It was morning, sunlight spilling across my chamber while Lycannar was between my thighs, sucking on my clitoris. A perfect way to wake. For the first time, I had slept peacefully in my own bed. We had made love again last night, and when we returned, Isolde and the other maids weren’t around. They were still busy in the after–party hall.
My eyes fluttered closed as sensation built in my veins, my soul. I licked my lips, bit down on the lower one, and tangled my fingers in his hair.
“Lycan…” I moaned his name, but in answer he only locked onto me harder. I was gone within moments, lost to the rhythm of his tongue, even when footsteps approached and my chamber door creaked open.
“Good morning, my lady. You have… Isolde’s words cut off. She gasped, slammed the door shut, and vanished.
I ignored it all. I couldn’t think, couldn’t care. His tongue was too merciless, too skilled, and I hated to imagine he had ever touched another woman like this when I wasn’t yet in his life.
“Ohh, ohh please, Lycan…” My moans broke free as I climbed higher. His tongue teased, circled, then pressed down on my clitoris until my body seized, shivered, and broke apart in climax.
My hips jerked, my hand clutched the sheets, and suddenly I squirted. His fingers slid inside me, stroking, coaxing, while my cries filled the chamber. I shook violently, wetting the bed beneath us.
Only then did he climb up, his body pressed to mine before rolling to his side. Still trembling, I reached for him, kissed his lips, and slid my hand down his chest. My fingers wrapped around his cock, stroking slowly before I lowered myself to take him in my mouth.
A low growl rumbled from him when he hit the back of my throat. His hand came to guide me, and I obeyed, listening, learning. I stroked and sucked until his touch grew heavier, more desperate. He was close.
At that moment, Isolde, foolishly thinking we had finished, pushed open the door again only to slam it shut for the second time.
Neither of us reacted. We were lost in our own world. His palm cupped the back of my head, holding me down as his cock pulsed, releasing thickly down my throat. I stroked him through the last tremors until his sigh broke free, shaky, guttural, raw with sensation.
When it was over, I kissed him again, and we curled into the bed, not caring about the mess of sweat and wetness staining the sheets. He kissed me hard, and when he finally leaned back, I lay with my head on his chest, savoring his warmth.
“Good morning,” I whispered, but he didn’t reply.

I pulled back, studying his face, the face I was learning to love more and more each morning. He licked his lips, as though still tasting me, then frowned faintly.
“If I were to decide for you, Zephyrine,” he said softly, voice calm but edged, “I’d say bulldozing into that place where your brother is held, dragging him out by force, that would be the best choice.”
My chest clenched. He was thinking of my brother.
“You know Blackwater?” I asked. His brow arched, but then he shook his head.
Of course. Lycans wouldn’t know. It was a place whispered among werewolves. Stone was a werewolf, after all.
“It’s a vile place,” I told him. “Slaves are bought and sold. Torture and filth. No one who goes there comes out free. I spoke to the man in charge. Stone. But instead of giving me my brother…” My voice trailed, shaking. “Instead of giving me Varyn, he proposed I be his whore.”
Lycannar went still. His gaze snapped to mine, and I saw it. The pale gold of his eyes shifting into that rare
green.
“He touched you?” he asked, his voice low and dangerous.
I swallowed and nodded.
“He tried to force himself on me. He would have, if not for the horse you gave me. She’s fierce, fast. I wouldn’t have survived without her, I swear it.”
His jaw tightened, his eyes scanning mine, searching. Then his voice dropped lower.
“You sent a letter to my sister for a healer, before you even returned from Blackwater. Why? You already knew you’d be wounded? Or…” His eyes narrowed. “Or were you already slipping from an injury?”
The question hung heavy between us. I shifted, tried to move away, but he caught my arm and pulled me back down against him.
“Tell me. What’s wrong?”
I looked into his eyes, then lowered mine, quiet.
“An arrow pierced my side. Stone, the leader of Blackwater, shot me. He is… he is a cruel man.”
At those words, Lycannar’s touch went cold and I look into his eyes. There I saw it. I didn’t need to ask. I knew. Stone’s days were already numbered. Lycannar might not tell me, might never show me the body but something deep in me knew. Stone would soon be rotting.

I moved my eyes away from her mirror and slipped into her bath chamber. There she was, pulling off her robe to step into the water.
Beautiful. That was all I could think when she stood bare before me. Her breasts were firm. I knew because I had touched them. Her moans were lovely and intoxicating. I had heard them. She was sweet. I could tell, because I had tasted her.
I watched her sink into the water and begin to bathe.
I had read the letters and been stunned. I left for White Pack to inform her, but since she wasn’t there, I returned to my kingdom only to find my uncle, Ureh.
He explained everything far better. It wasn’t my stepfather, but my true father who wanted me dead. The Demon King had agreed, believing I was becoming too dangerous.
I kept silent for days and nights, until the invitation came, delivered in utmost respect, one I honored.
Now here we were. I had told her everything, though leaving out the most tangible detail that I was also part demon. But for her now, demons were not the villains. The true villains were the Imperium Council she had trusted. The true villain was that envoy who had carried letters across realms.
As I watched Zephyrine bathe gently, I wondered what she would do. I couldn’t guess. But I already knew what I would do. I would make Stone of Blackwater pay for laying hands on her. For daring to attack her. His fate was already sealed.
“Apex?” Her voice broke my thoughts, and I blinked to see her grinning sheepishly. She just called me Apex. “Lycannar.”
I smiled at her.
“Hmm?”
“Come join me.”
I looked down at the water. Rose petals floating, a delicious fragrance filling the air.
Ash Pack. Never in my wildest thoughts had I imagined I’d set foot in here. Built to fortify wars, its walls were meant never to be breached. Yet here I was, stepping into the bath with her.
She leaned up to kiss my cheek, then pulled away giggling, making me wonder what she found so amusing in this morning.
I swam closer, pressing her gently against the concrete pool wall. She stopped smiling when she saw the hunger in my eyes. Breathing hard, her gaze searched mine as she leaned in to kiss me.
I kissed her tenderly, my lips claiming hers as my hands slid to her waist. Then my mouth trailed from her lips down to her neck, and lower still to her breast.
“Lycan…” she moaned, and gods, I loved it every time.

It was her way of telling me I was right where she needed me, giving her pleasure, making her surrender. I pressed her breast to my cheek, teased her nipple across my skin, then closed my mouth around it.
In no time we were on the pavement, her back flat beneath me, her thighs open. My cock was hard, aching as I positioned at her entrance, watching how she had been stretched last night.
I eased in with a low groan. Tight. Perfect. I thrust slow at first, then deeper, harder, until her brows furrowed and her moans grew louder. My pace grew relentless until release seized me, and I warmed her with it.
We both collapsed, drunk on sensation. She pulled me down, hugging me tight, as if afraid I might vanish if I pulled away.
After a while, I rolled to my side, and silence settled between us. My hand found her breast, marveling at the soft curve, the pale nipple. She was beautiful, soft and sweet, but I knew she could be hard and violent too. That was the truth of a warrior.
“I will be pulling Ash Pack from the Imperium Council’s order, Lycan.” Her declaration broke the quiet, sharp and fierce. To my ears, it was almost a declaration of war. “No one in Ash Pack will take their command anymore. We will stand alone.”
I didn’t argue. Whatever she wanted, I would support her. Even if the path was bloody. That was how crazily obsessed I was with her.
“What will you need?” I asked.
She placed her hand over mine, guiding me to squeeze her breast. Desire stirred again, and my cock hardened. She was seducing me, and it was working.
“Your unwavering devotion,” she whispered. Her hand slid mine down to her clit, guiding my strokes. “I will pull my pack from the Imperium Council. That will be war. Then I will stand on my own two feet. That will earn me more enemies. Ash Pack will be isolated. I will need your constant reminder that I am doing the right thing so I don’t lose myself. Your support, so I don’t forget who I am. You know too much power makes one lose their mind.”
“I will always be right here whenever you need me,” I told her, completely lost in the rhythm she made me play against her body. “And I will never think you’ve forgotten who you are. Before my eyes, you will always be right. Always.”
Her gaze fluttered, dark with desire. She brought the finger I’d used on her to my mouth, urging me to taste her.
“You will be there for me every time? You won’t judge?” Her voice trembled. “You are my only anchor, Lycan. The only one who doesn’t expect me to be strong at all times. You will be there when…”
I kissed her lips before panic could steal her words.
“If the burden is ever too heavy, Zephyrine, I’ll still be right here. I’ll never judge you. No matter how cruel your vengeance because they deserve it. They made you an orphan. They isolated your brother. They caused my men to die. If ever you want to shed blood…” My voice dropped. “I’ll place the dagger in your hand myself.”
She swallowed hard at my vow, then shifted to straddle me.

“But that envoy…?” I asked quietly.
She set her jaw.
“Sit and watch, my love. Before anything however, rescuing Varyn come first.”

I finished dressing, adjusting the brace on my forearm when Zephyrine finally called in her maids. An elderly woman and three younger ladies entered, bowing low.
I could feel their gazes on me, but I didn’t look their way. Didn’t spare them a glance. My focus stayed on my brace, though I already knew what lingered in their minds.
They had seen their lady and me this morning, giving oral pleasure to one another. That wasn’t against my foremother’s decree, and I could only smirk at how I’d found a way past her command to starve me of love.
“I will get dressed now,” Zephyrine said to her maids, snapping them out of staring at me and back to her.
I had never done this before. I mean slept over in a werewolf pack. I had spent nights in the Demon Realm, yes, but never outside shifter empires packs.
As Zephyrine headed to dress, I caught her wrist and pulled her back to me. She was still naked, soft and tempting, her body a lure I could never resist. We had made love again, and still it felt like I wanted her all over. It was as if I could never get enough.
I leaned in to kiss her, catching sight of her maids averting their eyes from the corner of mine. I kissed her again, then trailed my lips down her neck and along the swell of her breast. Tenderly, I took one nipple into my mouth and sucked. She moaned softly, holding onto me, and I released her at last, already knowing she was wet again.
“I can’t get enough of you,” I whispered.
Against my lips, she murmured back
“I can’t get enough of you either.”
We kissed once more before I left her side and moved to the window. Folding my arms across my chest, I gazed out over the pack lands and beyond to the walls.
Somehow, I could feel it. War. It was coming.
I was deep in thought when I heard the sharp snap of her voice.
“Will you focus on dressing me up? And why are you staring at him?”
I nearly smiled. She was scolding her maids for staring at me.
“Sorry, my lady. He’s just…” one of them started but faltered, silenced under Zephyrine’s glare.
My gods. I sighed inwardly. She wouldn’t allow any woman room in my life. And I understood. I wouldn’t allow any man into hers either. She was bound to me, for life.
From the window, I spotted Mearez walking with Serena, Baron speaking alongside them. My sisters. They had never learned combat. While I fought in wars, they had been left at my father’s mercy, his entertainment. And by entertainment, I meant rape.

I swallowed hard at the cold memories. I had not protected them well enough. Even after strangling my father with my own hands, I still felt he deserved worse than death. But his soul would never find peace. I made sure of that when I left him at exactly where he hated most.
“My lady?” The door opened gently, then paused when Blue stepped in. I felt her gaze on my back before she bowed. “My king.”
I turned and looked at her. Young. Beautiful. Of the ones under my care, she had grown well.
I didn’t speak, only turned back to the window. She approached Zephyrine.
“My lady, your aunt requests a breakfast with your man.”
I stilled at that. Her man?
“She means the King. Lycannar?” Zephyrine asked.
“Yes, My lady.”
A soft sigh escaped Zephyrine’s lips, and when I turned, she was rolling her eyes before glancing at me, her gaze rounded with apology.
“Lycan… should I say yes? I can make an excuse. What do you think?”
I didn’t answer right away. Every eye was on me, even her maids, still staring as if I were some rare and precious artifact.
“Is she good to you?” I finally asked.
Zephyrine swallowed.
“Yes. She is good.”
“Then I have no reason to refuse her invitation.” I said and Zephyrine nodded.
“Blue, tell her I will come for breakfast. And inform my beta I wish to see him.”
“Yes, my lady,” she replied, and left. My heart swelled quietly at the bond already forming between her and Zephyrine.
Minutes later, as Zephyrine finished dressing, Blue returned. Fresh chapters posted on find⦿novel.net
“The beta waits at the door.”
“Let him in,” Zephyrine said, rising to receive him.
The door opened, and Jurrek entered. The man who had earned my respect the moment I first looked into his eyes and saw his sorrow. His life, his loyalty, were bound to the Ashmeres. He lived for them. He would die for them. That was why I respected him. Why I had extended him a handshake when I gave none to others.
He bowed to me at the window. I nodded in response, then he turned fully to Zephyrine, ready to hear why he had been summoned.

“There’s something important you need to know Jurrek. I have found those who betrayed Ashmeres on the battlefield but before that you will need to read some letters.”
Back Where 169
Standing beside the broken but repaired mirror, I could feel the weight in the air. The cold, heavy tension pressing against the atmosphere.
The Dusk household had been called, and Dessyn had heard the truth with her own cars. Moon too had listened to why we were sent into that war. The Ashmeres were deemed too dangerous, and in order to wipe us out, we were thrown onto the battlefield.
Only, it wasn’t just Ashmere warriors who died. Those from other packs, who joined our ranks, and armies also lost their lives. The Imperium Council had crossed a line they should never have dared.
I released a slow breath and turned to face everyone. My decision was already set. The Pack that had belonged to my forefathers, down to my father, would no longer bend under the rules of the Imperium. I wanted out.
“It will be a difficult and dangerous decision, Alpha Zephyrine,” Jurrek’s voice cut in. As though he could read my very thoughts.
I swallowed and moved toward the window, gazing outside. There, I spotted Lycannar standing with Princess Mearez, speaking in quiet conversation.
He had stepped out minutes ago when his sisters called for him. I had kissed him goodbye, told him if he felt any discomfort he should return to me. For now, mirrors and holy relics were forbidden. Lycannar had to remain safe.
My eyes lingered, noticing the way his hand rested protectively on Mearez. The sight made me almost smile. If only Varyn had not been lost to that war… perhaps he would have treated me with the same kind of devotion. But the Council, always the Council.
-They came yesterday,” I said curtly, breaking the silence. “They sat at my table, ate and drank in my pack. They dared to speak the Ashmere name from their mouths… and Lady Sylvara herself had the gall to mention Varyn.” My eyes locked on Jurrek. “They mocked me. Mocked all of us. My father never once thought of rebelling, I swear it.”
“We need to act quickly, especially for your brother,” Moon’s voice followed, steady but firm. “You said Stone looked into the mirror. If he saw War strategist Varyn’s face, then he may already be torturing him to get back at you. Don’t you think?”
A cold shiver gripped my spine at his words. Moon was right. Stone of Blackwater had stared into the mirror and seen Varyn rotting away.
“We must get him out of Blackwater. If it takes a war, I will lead it,” I said heavily, and Jurrek gave a slow
nod.
“What’s the plan?”
The word caught in my throat. I swallowed.
“We can’t rush. Blackwater is fortified with walls that won’t fall easily. If I were him, I would never go down without blood. We must know what lies inside before we move.”

“But Stone knows your face,” Jurrek cut in. “Even in disguise, he’d recognize you. And Blackwater is lawless. Anyone who enters must tread carefully. Alpha Zephyrine, I will…”
“I’ll go.” Dessyn’s voice sliced into the room, drawing every gaze. “What? Can’t I?”
The silence that followed spoke volumes.
“You’ll be too emotional, Dessyn,” I said softly.
She shook her head.
“Too emotional? No, Zephyr. I can handle this. I can…” her voice faltered, trembling before she steadied it, “I can do it. Let me.”
Tears welled in her eyes before she turned away, trying to hide the crack in her voice.
“We are all emotional when it comes to Varyn. But I won’t sit back anymore. He is my man. I want to bring him home. To me. To love me. Would you sit idle if Apex were gone for five years without touching you?”
Her words struck hard, dragging heat to my chest. I lowered my eyes. If Lycannar left me for even a day, I’d be lost. Five years? I would go mad.
She was right. She deserved a say in his rescue.
I had known Dessyn since childhood. She might not wield weapons, but she was clever, resourceful, and stubborn enough to force her way through.
“You’ll go but not alone. You need someone who can fight if things turn bloody,” I said at last, meeting her tearful gaze.
Moon stepped forward.
“I’ll go with her.”
I nodded. Moon was unmatched in combat. I had seen him in the battlefield. He had saved me more than
once.
“You’ll need a plan to blend in,” I added.
“I’ll think of one before night falls,” Dessyn replied.
Finally, I turned to Jurrek, heart heavy.
“Arrange me a meeting with the Imperium Council. I want answers.”
No sooner had I spoken than the door creaked open. Isolde stepped in, bowing low.
“My lady, your aunt requests your presence and that of the Lycan King for breakfast.”
I gave a brief nod as she slipped out, then turned back to the window. Lycannar now stood by his horse,

Something in me knew my aunt meant no good. Not about anything. And especially not about my bond with the Lycan King.
Back Where 170
He stopped just before we reached the door, and I turned to stare at him. Lycannar. We were here for breakfast.
Not that I was hungry, but my aunt, Kostyra, was a woman I could never be rude to. She had shown me no reason to be, and though I had my doubts about her, I still chose to maintain the respect and love I held for her.
I glanced at Lycannar again. A small frown creased his face, and I nearly smiled. Something was bothering him. I stepped closer, pressing my palm against his chest as I looked up.
“What’s wrong?” I asked softly.
In response, he only searched my eyes and kissed me, making my heart swell. Last night and this morning would have been the happiest of my life, if not for the truth I’d just learned about my family’s death.
“Can I eat without worry?” he finally spoke. His words came as a question, and I swallowed hard at the meaning.
Poison. Goosebumps prickled across my skin as I lowered my gaze. Even I could not let my guard down so easily.
“She’s my mother’s younger sister,” I murmured. “She wouldn’t dare kill me or poison a king, unless she seeks the wrath of the Lycans.”
Lycannar smiled faintly, shrugging.
“It’s not that deep. My body is immune to poisons. Other things are my weaknesses. I just want to be sure I don’t have to worry about you.”
My eyes flickered up, but before I could answer, he kissed me again. Just then the doors opened, and maids appeared in the doorway to receive us.
Lentwined my fingers with Lycannar’s and walked inside, just in time to see my aunt coming toward us with a smile.
In the living room, she offered him a wide grin, though Lycannar didn’t hold her gaze.
Tm honored you came at my request, Your Majesty. Please, join us for breakfast. You too, Zephyr”
We followed her into the dining hall. Only the maids and Lord Yua, her husband, were there. The moment he saw Laycannar, he rose to bow Lycannar returned it with a brief nod
“Please sit. The meal is ready,” my aunt said I tugged Lycannar gently to his seat

Lycannar obeyed, answering softly, rare for him, since he never spoke easily to strangers. Perhaps my aunt wasn’t a stranger to him, just as Jurrek hadn’t been
“You may call me by my name.”
“Really? Then may I call you Lycannar? Apex, which they address you as, is only a nickname, right?” she pressed.
I shifted my gaze to her.
“Apex is also his real name. You can use whichever you prefer.”
She stared at me blankly, then forced a smile to smooth over the tension.
“Ah. I see,” she murmured. We began the meal. Lycannar lifted his spoon when another question came.
“I’ve never heard about your mother, the Queen. Is she alive?”
I stiffened, and Lycannar froze.
“Ah. perhaps I’ve gone too far. Forgive me,” my aunt said, feigning innocence. “I only want to understand you, since my niece here is clearly in love with you.”
This time Lycannar did not reply. He set down his spoon, staring at the table.
Then came another question.
“A man like you must have had many mistresses. How many women have you bedded before Zephyrine?”
“Aunt!” I snapped, my voice sharp with disbelief. She turned to me, pretending to be surprised.
“What? I’m only trying to know your man better. Your mother would have, had she been alive. I’m only doing her duty.”
I gaped at her, then turned to Lycannar, who remained silent. His dark hair fell forward, strands brushing his face. Then he shifted his gaze to the doorway, as though sensing someone approach.
A moment later, the door opened and Blue stepped in.
“My King, your sister requests your urgent presence.”
Lycannar looked back at me, rose without a word, and kissed my lips softly before leaving with Blue. His absence left me hollow, shaken
I turned my glare on my aunt, but she only sighed, as though she were doing me a kindness.
“A man like that is off-limits, Zephyr. Look around you at the maids. Can’t you see how fascinated they are with his very presence?” The source of thɪs content is Find~Novel.net
Her words made me glance around. She was right. Their eyes followed him, awestruck.
“You and he aren’t compatible at all. He’s a Lycan, you a werewolf. He’s cursed. He’s lived in a black tower all his life. He’s unsettling. A man so handsome, yet unwilling to meet anyone’s eyes or speak unless
forced…”

“Enough!” I snapped. The word cracked like a whip, and she went still. “Enough, Aunt. You are like a mother to me. I will always respect you. But don’t cross this line.”
“You’d choose a man over your own blood?” Lord Yua spoke at last. His eyes burned as he fixed them on me. “You’d choose a man born of destruction over your family?”
“Railan told me you threatened him last night,” my aunt added. “He says you gave him no choice but to leave. Do you know who he is? He’s the son of Lord Osmir, one of the Imperium Council. You’ll never find a greater suitor, Zephyr. Won’t you reconsider?”
Her words froze me. Railan is Lord Osmir’s son? She wanted me to marry into the very family that deceived mine into death?
1 could barely speak. I only rose from my chair and turned toward the exit until her final words dropped like venom.
“He will never belong to you alone, Zephyr. Save yourself the heartache now, and reject him.”
