Ch. 171..175: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 171-175

Back Where 171

I lay in my bed, quiet, jealousy pricking through my veins. She had said what I hated most, and no matter how I tried, I couldn’t get my mind off it. She didn’t want me with Lycannar but why? And why, of all people, would she fix Railan. Lord Osmir’s son, as my suitor?

I shifted on the bed, leaning against the headboard with a sigh. Lycannar had bedded women before me. I knew that. It was obvious. I knew it was in the past, but… but why did it hurt? Why did it make me feel so insecure?

Lost in thought, I heard footsteps approaching in the hallway. My gaze lifted as the door opened and Lycannar stepped inside, closing it behind him.

He came toward me, and I turned away, giving him my back. His steps paused in confusion before he sat down at the edge of the bed.

“You okay?” he asked.

I ignored him, and when his hand reached for me, I pulled away.

“Zephyrine?”

I sat up, meeting his gaze in silence. He studied me closely, one brow lifting.

“What’s wrong?”

I shook my head, lowering my eyes.

“I’m fine. It’s nothing,” I whispered.

He didn’t believe me. His fingers tipped my chin upward, firm enough to force eye contact.

“You’re lying to me now?” he asked softly. “Tell me what’s wrong”

A lump rose in my throat. I looked away, biting my lip to keep the misery down, but it only weighed. bravier

“Why didn’t you wait for me?” The words slipped out at last. “Why couldn’t you… stay abstinent until you

Silence streiched between us. I searched his expression, but he gave me nothing. Finally, his voice came. Jow and atrady

“I was groomed at a very young age. You wouldn’t even have been born then”

Cold dread ran down my spine Groomed? By who?

“Before I even reached puberty, my father groomed me with women he paid for. We had sex, and for a while, I got addicted to it. I had mistresses before Xynha came and proposed a relationship. She was my first real woman, but in the end. I felt nothing for her. It was just sex until I met you.” ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ find[ɴ]ovel.net

My chest heaved. The more I learned of his father, the more I realized how cruel he had been, how much Lycannar had endured before his death.

“You made love to Xyrrha?” I asked, though I wished I hadn’t.

His silence was answer enough. I turned away, but his hand caught my wrist, pulling me back.

“You know it’s you now, Zephyrine,” he murmured. “Don’t be jealous. That’s my past.”

“But you made love to her, didn’t you? Couldn’t you have…”

“You think you’re the only one crazy over someone’s past?” he cut me off, his eyes burning into mine. “You lived in another man’s house for five years. I only dated Xyrrha for less than a month. We never even reached a full one. It was sex, not love. There’s a difference. You, on the other hand, stayed with your ex- mate. And if he hadn’t been too much of a fool not to touch you, I know you would’ve let him if he tried.”

His words cut deep. I hated that he was right. Rage boiled up, and I shoved at him, but it was useless. His strength was immovable. I tried to get out of bed, but’he closed the distance in a breath and crushed his lips against mine.

I struggled, but he pressed me down, pinning me until my resistance faltered. Soon I found myself clinging to him, fingers buried in his hair, kissing him back with everything in me.

Breathless, I finally pulled away, chest heaving.

“I’ll never forgive you if you cheat on me, Lycannar. There won’t be forgiveness in me. You are mine.”

He didn’t argue. He didn’t deny. He only kissed me again, stealing my breath until I had to pull back and pant.

“I have to go. My family is ready, and my horse is waiting outside,” he said after a pause.

I stiffened.

“You… you’re leaving?”

“I can’t spend two nights away from the Black Tower. I need to go.”

I pulled from his arms, sitting upright, my heart twisting in longing.

“Can’t you stay?” I asked softly over my shoulder while he reclined on my bed. “You could stay tonight. You will…”

“I can’t,” he cut in gently. “It would be too much. Besides, I need to drink the potion that dulls my beasts.”

I turned, finding his eyes already on me. He saw my sadness and sat up, cupping my cheek.

“I’m only going back to my kingdom, which you are welcome to at any time. If anything happens to you, I’ll know. The amulet binds us. I’ll come as fast as possible.”

“And you’ll keep yourself only for me?” I whispered, need lacing my voice.

He brushed his lips over mine before pulling back with a smile.

I punched him, but he only laughed. And in that moment, I saw his beauty. I saw what most people never could, or would. Lycannar Blood was never unsettling, never strange. He was only forged into isolation by his father’s cruelty. Nothing more.

I bowed before Aunty Eiryn. They had finished breakfast with the Dusks and Jurrek, and I had heard they

loved it.

“Thank you so much for coming,” I said to them, smiling. “I appreciate you for sleeping over too.”

Beauty, that’s her name, smiled at me and looked around.

“You have a beautiful pack. The Blood family is welcome here anytime, right?”

“Of course. Without any hassle, yes,” I said eagerly. Anything tied to Lycannar was welcome in my pack.

They smiled and began to climb into their carriage one by one. When it finally came down to the princesses, I closed in on Princess Serena and hugged her.

I love it here. I really wish I could stay longer, but my baby brother needs to get home.” She sighed, and I nodded in understanding. “When will you come visit us?”

‘Soon,” I replied softly. “Soon.”

She smiled and pulled back to enter the carriage. Then I turned to Princess Mearez, and a smile spread on my face. My lifesaver. I hugged her tightly. I loved her so much.

‘You stay out of trouble, okay?” she whispered into my ear, and when I pulled back to smile, she already knew I wouldn’t promise that.

‘I will miss you,” I said. I had grown used to her being in my pack these past days. It was a shame she had to leave now.

The journey to Ash Pack and the Lycan Kingdom isn’t that long. We can make the trip. Goodbye.”

I nodded and stepped back. I caught her gaze shift to Jurrek behind me, who had bowed when the others entered the carriage.

Their eyes lingered for a brief moment before Princess Mearez stepped inside without another word, and I understood her plight.

Lycannar was right there with his horse. Even a second too long staring at another man could arouse his suspicions. I bit my lower lip as the carriage rolled forward, casing out of the pack.

A soft sigh slipped from my lips as I stood watching it go. At last, I turned back to Lycannar. He stood beside his horse, staring at me, and a lump rose in my throat.

He was leaving. My soul knew it. The sadness was heavy, but I tried to keep a straight face, steadying my emotions, knowing we had an audience.

He walked up to me, reins in hand, before letting them drop so he could stand directly in front of me. We stared at one another in silence for what felt too long, and I nearly grew mad at him for keeping so many limits between us.

“I hate you for not staying.” I said bitterly.

In response, he reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind my car with such tenderness it nearly broke

“Whenever it becomes too much to bear… whatever it is… I’ll be there to ease your pain,” he said softly, making my heart tighten.

“Lyca…”

He didn’t let me finish. Instead, he pulled me into his arms. Tender, gentle, and warm. I closed my eyes, savoring the moment. Savoring him.

When he finally pulled back, it was only to place a gentle kiss on my lips, compelling me to flutter my eyes open and meet his gaze.

“I love you,” I confessed without hesitation. “I love everything about you, Lycan. I love you so much it aches.”

At that confession, he lost his patience. His lips crashed into mine again, full and claiming, daring. When he pulled back, his jaw was tight, his throat working as he swallowed.

The silence that followed was nerve-wracking. At last, he stepped back and nodded, his voice sure and steady.

“I am going to be your husband, Zephyrine. And if I die first, you will be my widow until you come join me. No one is having you except me. If I won’t, then no one will.”

With that declaration, he kissed my temple, then mounted his horse with practiced ease. Without looking back, he galloped away, leaving only the warmth that only he could give me. The farther the distance grew between us, the emptier I felt.

My heart ached. Sadness returned. The weight of responsibility pressed down, and only then did I remember how many lives depended on my decisions.

I turned slowly toward the hall, only to see Nyroth stepping out from the shadows where he must have been lurking while I bid Lycannar goodbye.

I didn’t bother to give him another glance as I tried to bypass him, but he caught my wrist, pulling me

back.

“Zeph.” His voice was urgent, his eyes locked on mine. “Zeph, we have to talk. We need to talk. We must

talk.”

I met his gaze, anger brewing hot in my chest. His deeds while we were still mated, his arrogance, his family spitting on my parents’ ashes, his attempt to disgrace me during the mate-bond rejection, it all came rushing back.

I yanked my wrist free and glared.

“We have nothing to talk about, Alpha Nyroth. The party is over. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” I turned toward the hall, calling over my shoulder to Jurrek. “Have them leave and lock the gate. Party is over. Let’s all get

to work.”

Back Where 173

We left Ash Pack under the early afternoon sky and arrived back in the Lycan Kingdom by late evening. The massive gates swung open, and my horse galloped past the carriage straight to the royal stables, where the stable master took the reins when I dismounted.

I went inside at once, tired and empty, stepping into the dining hall only to pause. I leaned on the table, hands pressed to my chest as I waited for my sisters. After a few minutes, I heard their soft chuckling before they appeared and stopped. Their eyes fixed on me.

I hadn’t told them about what I had discovered. The letters. The truth. My father, the true architect of evil.

My gaze drifted and settled on Mearez. She had gone to Ash Pack earlier, carefree, unburdened was how I have found her there. Now she lowered her eyes, swallowing as though she sensed panic.

‘You should rest. You both must be tired,” I said at last. Chapters first released on ⓝovelFind.net

You too, baby brother,” Serena replied before leaving with Mearez, their absence leaving the dining hall hollow.

Without another word, I mounted the steps and opened the door into the silent tower. I paused there for what felt like an eternity before choosing my steps, slow and heavy, toward the living room. At the entrance, I stood still, the weight of fate pressing down on me like chains.

No matter how much I tried to think it through, it circled back to the same place that I am a prisoner, and his tower is my cage.

I drifted into my chambers, the emptiness worse than before. I could never stay outside for more than one night. It was a warning etched into me since childhood.

My feet carried me before the mirror I had kept for Zephyrine. The curtain was drawn across it, and I swallowed hard. I could not uncover it. I could not even look at it. The warning remained. A warning I had obeyed without question.

I turned to the corridor, staring out into the vast kingdom below. So much wealth. Born of a Lycan King and a Demon Queen and yet I was no king. I was a curse. A product of abomination. For my parents’ defiance of law, I would forever pay the price.

I sighed, leaving the corridor to return to my chamber, only to pause at the sight of him. Chantel stood in the doorway, silent, his gaze fixed on me.

“You’re back,” he said at Jast.

I didn’t answer. I walked to the table, poured a goblet of my potion, and drained it in a single swallow.

“Nothing happened in my absence?” I finally asked.

“Your uncle entertained a woman in his home.”

I raised a brow, pausing mid-motion. Slowly I turned to Chantel.

Chantel said nothing, only stared. That silence was confirmation enough. I set down the goblet with a frown. A new woman in the Blood family? Or an old one resurfaced?

The sound of shackles falling. A whisper in my ear.

“Kill them all. Every last one. That’s what you are. That’s who you are. A Blood. So spill it.”

My beast roared and the battlefield burned. Claws, fangs, slaughter, blood.

“Apex!” Hades’ voice thundered through the haze. “Apex, what have you done? Shouldn’t you still be chained?! Who let you out?!”

That was when I realized. When I saw. But what did I see? Who did I see? What did I do?

1

I shook my head violently and jerked awake with a start. My chest heaved, ears ringing. Footsteps neared and Chantel appeared at the door.

Panting, I sat up slowly, my heart pounding. What kind of nightmare was that? Why did it feel so blurry? so familiar?

“Are you alright?” Chantel asked.

I nodded, though he didn’t believe me. He stood there, silent, watchful. I sighed shakily.

“Pour me a glass of water.”

He obeyed without question. When he returned, he handed it to me. I accepted, holding it for a moment before drinking deeply.

Strange. Nightmares were rare for me. This didn’t feel like one at all. No. It felt like a fragment of memory.

I drained the cup, letting the coolness ease me. Chantel retrieved it while I lay back down, my eyes landing on the sketch of Zephyrine above me.

Her image calmed me at once. She was lovely. She was mine. I loved how she burned with jealousy, how possessive she was of me. It made me feel alive, that someone beyond my sisters, beyond Hades, beyond Chantel loved me enough not to want to share me.

I felt Chantel’s steady gaze from the doorway, his presence a silent shield. I let my eyes close, reassured that if I ever lost control, he would be there to pull me back.

To the world, he was my bodyguard, protecting me from others. But the truth? His duty was the opposite. He was trained, raised, and bound for one purpose alone. To protect others from me. Because no one was more dangerous than my beasts, especially the demon within.

Back Where 174

The sun bathed it, and I couldn’t stop staring at the elegance, the declaration of ownership. Nothing spoke louder than this. Nothing at all.

I had invited all and sundry, but only Lycannar had come bearing a gift. A gift for my ascension. A white fur cloak with the crest of the Lycan Kingdom stitched into it.

He had said that he guessed my size, and staring at it now, I felt emotional. He was right about the size. He was right about the power the amulets gave me. And he was right about the fact that it keeps us connected somehow.

Today arrived heavy, heavier than anything else before. Under the darkest hour before the dawn sky, I had watched Dessyn depart for Blackwater, disguised as a designer, while Moon had followed behind as her apprentice.

With a heavy heart, I had bid them farewell, and when the sun finally showed its beauty, Jurrek delivered the news that the Imperium Council would see me today at the Wolf Fortress. A place fortified with authority and order, blessed by the Moon Goddess.

I hadn’t slept. Not even a wink. Not once. Alone in my own bed, I had no peace. It felt like punishment from the dead. A restlessness meant to remind me how much was undone, how much time I had wasted.

I swallowed hard when the sound of a door opening came through, and Blue appeared, ready for the journey too, for she would be accompanying me.

At last, I rose, picked up the cylindrical glass that held the letters, and walked toward the exit. At the carriage, I saw Jurrek waiting by the side.

We did not speak for a while. I only walked up to stand before him, and he searched my eyes.

“You should return home unharmed, Zephyr. Untouched,” he said softly, and I felt the lump in my throat.

This was war. Going to the Wolf Fortress to inform the Imperium Council members that I wanted my pack out could be interpreted as rebellion, but I did not care.

“I will,” I said at last, then stepped into the carriage.

Isolde and my three other maids walked out just in time to join. They were my court ladies. I could not leave them behind.

It didn’t take long before the carriage cased out of Ash Pack, fading into the distance.

It was already afternoon when my carriage rolled into the fortress and stopped before an ancient, sacred building.

Blue stepped down first and helped me alight, and I stood there staring up at it. I looked around at the walls and sighed.

The breeze carried back old memories. I had accompanied my father here. I had come with my mother, and Varyn too.

It was like a second home to us. My father was regarded with utmost respect, and all guards bowed when his horse galloped in but who would have thought all that was just a façade?

At last, I stepped forward and entered the hall. The guards, heavily armed, bowed as I passed until we reached the entrance of the Council’s meeting hall.

There, I saw him again. Railan. My aunt had said he was a merchant last night after the party, but staring at him now, I saw he was far from that. Maybe a merchant of death. Because he clearly wasn’t into trades. He looked more like a warrior.

He stood at attention by the entrance, and when he saw me, his stare lingered longer before shifting over my court ladies and finally settling on Blue.

“No Lycan will be allowed in,” he said, and I walked past, throwing the words over my shoulder.

“Stop her if you dare.”

He didn’t because he wouldn’t. Lycannar giving me a maid didn’t mean he wouldn’t be responsible for her and I knew he would go mad if anyone dared hurt his Lycan. I knew my man well enough to guess what would happen if anyone outside laid hands on his own.

I walked into the hall and stopped in the middle, because before me, seated at the high chairs, were the three members of the Imperium Council.

Lord Osmir. Lady Sylvara. Lord Eryndor. All three gave me their attention, and I exhaled.

“Who would have thought you’d have such urgent matters to discuss with us, Zephyr,” Lord Osmir began. “Why have you come?

“If it is to thank us for honoring your invitation and attending your party yesterday, you need not mention. It is…”

“I regret it,” I cut Lord Eryndor off, and silence fell heavy in the long hall. “I regret inviting you into my pack to eat my food and drink my wine, to breathe in the same place Ashmere calls home.”

Confusion stirred. Isolde looked shocked at my outburst. She didn’t know the truth but Blue already did.

“Zephyr… what are you talking about?” Lady Sylvara asked, her voice laced with anger.

In response, I approached the high table, climbing the three steps and placing the cylindrical glass of letters before them. Under their watchful gazes, I poured the pieces of paper out and set my jaw.

“I learned something… horrible, I could not believe it. But the letters… the councils will speak for themselves. I refused to act on one side only. So tell me, council members… are you familiar with these letters?”

My voice was chosen carefully, Tender, but underneath it was the unmistakable tension. Deadly, still deadly.

The council members frowned at once. Each reached for a letter. They hadn’t even read through before their faces turned pale.

Without being told, I already knew the truth. Betrayal at the core. I swallowed the bile in my throat and nodded, whispering,

I turned to leave, but froze at the voice behind me.

“At their lowest moment, when the world seems to have given up on them, a cursed monster will rise with obsession burning like wildfire for an Ashmere. If they are left together, their love and bond will bring only chaos, and power imbalance to every realm and world. That was the prophecy.”

I froze. My chest heaving as I slowly turned to stare at Lady Sylvara, who had spoken.

A prophecy. A cursed monster. And an Ashmere.

I went still. Completely still. A prophecy binding an Ashmere and a cursed monster? If I am not mistaken… that means Lycannar and me… right?

“Few years ago, before you were born, we received a prophecy,” Lord Eryndor said from ahead, and Lady Sylvara carried the words forward.

“An unholy union between a cursed monster and an Ashmere will be formed, and it will bring forth chaos, destruction, and power imbalance to all realms. We are the true leaders. We had to stop it.”

“A cursed monster?” she continued, her tone sharp. “No werewolf bears such a fate, except in the Lycan Kingdom. He was a prince then and dangerous. Dangerous to everyone and to himself. We heard stories of his monstrosity, but with his father’s chains binding him, we believed no such destiny would come to pass.”

Lord Osmir leaned forward.

“That was until Ashmere bloodlines grew dangerous, unstoppable. Your father, the Warlord. Your mother, a war general. Your brother, a strategist. Every relative on your father’s side raised as soldiers. Even your women taught combat. Not a single war did you lose. You were becoming unstable, a threat.”

He exhaled heavily.

“Before you rebelled, before prophecy came to life, we saved the shifter empire. We gave your family the honorable death of warriors. They died in battle, not disgrace.”

Silence pressed in, so heavy I nearly laughed. Instead, I only scoffed at their words.

“You sent Ashmeres into a war with no return. You lied to the greatest Warlord of this empire, tricked him into leading his army into a battlefield of suicide. And after all that, you sleep peacefully at night? Now you dare cloak your treachery in prophecy and curse tales?”

I scoffed again, stepping forward, climbing the stairs until I stood before them.

“You said my parents died as warriors? Do you know how they died? In their bed. In their camp. Where they were most vulnerable. You used our own kind against them. You cornered them on all sides until retreat was impossible. That’s no battlefield, no honor. That is slaughter. And you call it service to the empire?”

The hall thickened with tension. Lady Sylvara met my burning gaze, unflinching.

“You of all people have no right to speak,” she snapped, cold as steel. “The prophecy we thought never to see, the unholy union of a cursed monster and an Ashmere, it is you and the Lycan King. If only we had known sooner, you would not have survived. Ashmeres were always puppets of the Council. They bowed to orders, and so will you. Your affair with the Lycan King is already under scrutiny. For now, remain silent and await our orders. Do you understand?”

Cold ran through me, sharp as blades. For one blinding moment, I nearly imagined slicing her throat open right there. But not yet. Not yet.

“Whatever you say or do, nothing and no one will come between Lycannar and me,” I said, my voice precise and deadly calm. “And I will demand again that you pull Ash Pack from the Council. Next time I return and see no preparations, I swear on my father’s name, I will spill blood.”

I turned for the exit. Lady Sylvara’s voice cracked across the hall.

“Just because you are his whore doesn’t mean you are above this Council.”

I smirked, never pausing in my steps, and threw my words over my shoulder.

“His whore? Then I stand higher than you already.”

Ash Pack lay quiet beneath the evening sky when I returned. I descended the carriage and walked straight into my chamber, needing air, needing calm.

At the window, I steadied my breath, but the thought burned. How could they not show an ounce of remorse? How could they not even try to deny it? They didn’t need to. The letters already screamed their guilt.

But the prophecy… could it be true? Where did they even hear it?

“My lady?” Blue’s voice came softly behind me. I turned to meet her gaze, and the lump in my throat only tightened. How I wished, truly wished, that Lycannar were here. “Are you alright?”

The question made breathing harder. I turned away, sinking onto the chair before the mirror.

A cursed king, bound to a Black Tower etched with spells and ancient marks. A man who never dared meet his own reflection. A man who spoke little, who lived in shadows, who only knew right and wrong when it served him.

I lowered my gaze, swallowing against the ache.

“Call Jurrek, Blue.”

“Yes, my lady.”

Blue slipped out. Almost immediately the door opened again, yet it wasn’t Jurrek. It was Isolde. She stood silently in the doorway, eyes on me for what felt like eternity, then crossed over to pull me into her arms.

“Who would have thought those we trusted most would spin such calamity?” she whispered, pulling back. I swallowed hard, still unable to answer.

The door creaked open again. Blue returned alone.

“Beta Jurrek has left the pack for a quick errand. He won’t return until morning.”

I frowned. Jurrek hadn’t mentioned leaving. Whatever it was, it must have been urgent.

I turned slowly toward the mirror, my reflection staring back at me as my thoughts drifted to Dessyn and Moon. I wondered how they were faring.

They had left at the darkest hour, riding without pause, they should have arrived by noon.

My gaze shifted to the fractured relic mirror. With all the hesitation and fear in the world, I lifted it, the handle cold against my hand, and raised it to my face. I had to see how Varyn was faring.

For a fleeting moment, only my own reflection looked back. Then it rippled, shifting, revealing him. My blood brother.

This time, my heart sank to the pit of despair. He was caged. Trapped in an underground prison.
