As Tumpacked my small luggage. I realized had forgotten the chest. The one with my hairpin, the invitation scroll, and my mother’s bracelet back in Hue Pack.
What I had seen and heard made me forget it. I sighed, sitting on Dessyn’s bel, jaw tight.
A place had already been reserved for me before I arrived, and I packed my few clothes there. I was sorting through my shoes when I felt Moon’s presence at the doorway.
We had arrived together. Their parents were already asleep, and Dessyn hadn’t yet returned from the Lycan Kingdom.
I turned, settling my gaze on him. He offered a small smile.
“I thought you might need help.
“No.” I replied softly.
He waited, his eyes lingering on my face before lowering with a quiet sigh.
“I’m happy. Zephyr,” he said quietly. “That you’re here.”
Tension settled in the air at his words, and I swallowed hard. I didn’t know what to say until the sound of carriage wheels rolled in, then came to a stop.
“Thank you so much for today, Alpha Auedric,” Dessyn’s voice drifted in.
“You should be the one to be thanked. Good night now.”
“Yes, Alpha Auedric,”
Moments later, Dessyn appeared in the doorway beside her brother, holding a chest. She stepped inside and dropped it onto the floor with a thud.
“Ugh, I’m so exhausted, she groaned, then sat up straighter, her eyes on the chest. A small smile curled at the corners of her lips.
“Apex Blood sent this as payment for me hosting his coronation party,” she beamed, then sighed shakily. “Zephyr, do you think it’s safe to open it? I mean… would he mean well after what happened at the party today!”
“He wasn’t hurt, was he?” I asked, stepping closer to the chest and gesturing for her to go ahead.
Dessyn let out a shaky breath before lifting the lid.
Golden jewelry glimmered beside an expensive bottle of wine and a bright scroll, handwritten by the King himself.
With trembling fingers, Dessyn read the scroll, then looked up at me, her eyes wide.
“H… he wants to hire me. Permanently. To host all of his future festivals, Zephyr.”
Hire?
I took the scroll from her hands and read it myself. The confirmation made my heart drop.
This meant a lot for the White Pack. For the Dusk family.
Lhugged her tightly. She chuckled between her tears while Moon lingered in the doorway, watching.
He finally stepped closer and reached for the wine, but Dessyn smacked his hand away.
“Ow! What was that for? Let’s celebrate!”
4:23 PM
“Yes, let’s do that.” Dessyn laughed, then turned to me. “How about a warm bath, Zephyr?”
Finished
Dessyn filled my goblet and handed it to me with a grin. We were both naked in the wide bathing chamber, the water rising to our breasts, warm and soothing.
I took a sip and sighed shakily, then moved toward the edge and placed the goblet down.
Moon had already finished his portion and left us ladies to ourselves.
“This’ll be big news tomorrow, Zephyr, Dessyn said behind me. “I can’t wait to host another party in the Lycan Kingdom.”
1 tumed and gave her a small smile. Then I turned back again, staring into empty space, until her voice returned.
“What’s wrong. Zephyr?” she asked, sensing what I tried to hide. “You’ve packed everything from Hue Pack, right?”
I turned to look at her but said nothing. She sighed. She knew me too well.
“Zephyr…” she said again, concerned. I shrugged.
“I’m fine, I murariured, taking another sip of wine.
“You know.. during the afterparty, people were talking about you and the Lycan King.”
I froze. The water around me suddenly felt colder. I slowly turned toward her.
“What were they saying?”
“That a bond can’t form between a werewolf and a lycan, especially not one who’s cursed,” she said softly. “They said… a rogue and a Blood would destroy each other.
I looked down, frowning. I hadn’t thought that far ahead. Maybe they were right but then again I am not a rogue. I am an Ashmere.
“Nyroth cheated on me, Dessyn,” I said quietly. I felt her stiffen. “Really cheated. He made love to Kaela. And… I just found out they’d been doing it before.”
Silence settled between us. When I looked at her, she was watching me carefully.
“You killed him?” she asked at last. I shook my head.
“My days of killing are over, Dessyn and I don’t care about what they say about me or what Apex might think,” I tried, but even I knew it sounded weak.
She didn’t buy it.
“You’re summoned by him in private later. Tell me you felt nothing when you were alone with him and I’ll drop it.”
I swallowed hard. Her words echoed in my mind, pulling up the memory of that intense moment.
“He wants me,” I whispered. Dessyn swam closer, eyes fixed on mine. “He said he’s willing to
change himself to my taste. He doesn’t want me touched by any man. And… he’s serious about it.”
She stayed quiet for a long time. Then she finally spoke.
“And what was your response?”
“Dessyn..”
“Apex won’t back down,” she interrupted softly. “You saw how brutal he was today”
1 swallowed again. I already knew, He wouldn’t. If only he could see my death.. maybe he wouldn’t be so obsessed with me.
Iwent silent, my thoughts circling in chaos. Then I glanced at Dessyn and asked quietly.

“And being made love to?” I lowered my gaze and sighed. “I know you did it once with my brother. Was it that great?”
She stayed silent for a long time. I knew she hated talking about Varyn, Just like me, she hadn’t moved on from his disappearance.
“It was great,” she said finally. “The best thing to do with a man who is gentle and in love with you. If he’s gentle, it won’t hurt
Gentle.
The word echoed in my mind. I sighed shakily.
“Apex isn’t gentle.”
I hadn’t meant to say it aloud until I saw Dessyn’s gaze.
swallowed hard when I saw her expression. I am falling fast.
Silence stretched between us, heavy with things left unspoken.
The lust, the tension, the emotion building in my chest for the Lycan King was wild and it was growing fast.

Her eyes, her breath, her scent, they keep playing in my head, and I can’t sleep. I flip open the page of the book I was reading. bus I’ve already zoned out.
She appears fierce, bold, and unyielding. I love it all. She’s the first woman who would reject my advances, and it only
intrigues me more.
I close the book and lie back in my bed in the Black Tower. A domain I’ve lived in all my life. In pain, in agony, in chains and in isolation. No one dares cross the threshold. Not even my sisters.
Trapped in a chamber covered in ancient runes and spells, I was confined to keep my beasts in check and my powers hidden.
The curse from the Moon Goddess was meant to weigh me down, but somehow today, when I saw it didnt work on her, I felt fulfilled. Grateful, even.
1 lower my gaze and try to get some sleep, but then the memory of her lips flashes through my mind, and I flutter my eyelids Jopen again.
I’m a man who is not easily infatuated. I was groomed from age eight by the order of my own father. I know what sex feels. like, what it means to be in bondage and lust. He prepared me for everything and made me bleed for it.
But the one thing he didn’t prepare me for was her.
That hazel–eyed woman who met my gaze without flinching.
I have never wanted anything. Not even the crown. But now I want her lips,
I set my jaw against the feeling, knowing full well I must not indulge in anything that will weaken me. My enemies are waiting for prey.
I try to sleep again, but I sense him at the entrance, Chantel
I turn to see him standing in the shadows like he always does. Silent and deadly. That’s what he is. Loyal to the bone but only
to me.
He doesn’t leave the Black Tower. Few have ever seen him.
A maid steps forward and bows low, her eyes downcast, never daring to meet mine.
“It’s past curfew, and your sister isn’t in her room,” he says.
I pause.
“What? Mearez?” I ask, but he shakes his head.
I set my jaw in anger.
Serena.
I get out of bed, grab my robe, and head at once toward the Royal Grand Hall where my sisters‘ chambers are located.
Maids line the corridor, hundreds of them on duty, and the moment they see me, they fall to their feet. I ignore them..
I push open Mearez’s door and see her just climbing into bed.
set my jaw and turn to the chamber across from hers. I open the door. It’s empty. Serena is gone.
“What’s wrong?” Mearez asks from behind me as she enters, but I stay silent, jaw tight. She understands immediately.
She must still be at the afterparty.”

I walk to the window and
peer out.
We can’t stay out at nightfall, especially when the full moon is just in two days. It’s a luxury we, the Lycans, cannot afford. Not
now. Not ever.
We have curfews we must abide by. Or else the enemies will attack when we are vulnerable.
I’m fuming when footsteps approach. The door opens.
Serena walks in, clearly not expecting me. But when her eyes land on mine, I see her shudder.
She lowers her gaze and heads toward the bath chamber.
“You’re late,” I say.
She pauses their keeps walking.
“I apologize.” This update is available on Find~Novel.net
“Apology won’t fix anything.” I reply curtly. She halts.

“You’ve been sleeping around?”
“And when did you start caring, little brother?”
*Serena. Mearez warns, but Serena goes on.
“We deserve to celebrate. Father is dead. We’re free.”
“We’re not.” I correct her, stepping closer. My hand cups her cheek. “And you can’t sleep around, Serena.”
“I’m sick of being told what to do,” she snaps, pulling back. “I’m not going to be under your command anymore. I’m tired of all the restraint!”
She turns to Mearez. You’re the eldest. Don’t you want to get married can’t do this anymore. It’s exhausting! I’ll get fucked by any man I choose and no one will stop me.”
I swallow hard at her declaration, staring at her in silence. The air tenses.
At last, I nod.
“What’s his name?” I ask and She freezes.
I walk toward her again, slow and deliberate.
“Tell me his name. Maybe
we’ll arrange a meeting. See if he suits you,”
It’s a trap. She knows it,
She knows that once I know the name, the man won’t live to see tomorrow,
close in on her, gently take her trembling hand, and cup her cheek again.
“Go on, I urge softly. “Hmm?”
Tears well in her eyes. Not from fear but from being caged without chains. She looks into my eyes and slowly shakes her head.

It’s a wonder how someone so fiesty can break so fast,
“You sure?” I ask, searching her eyes. She sniffs and nods, “Good.”
I lean in and kiss her lips gently. When I pull back. I see the tears trailing down her cheeks.
“No one’s going to love us. Not now. Not when they know what we really are. Father is dead, but that doesn’t mean we’re free. We have enemies. More than ever.”
I turn toward the exit and speak to the guards,
“Confine her in her chambers until the full moon ends. No guests are allowed to see her.”
“Yes, sire.”
I’m about to leave when her bitter voice cuts through.
“She’s not going to love you either.”
1 freeze.
“That Rogue… she’ll never accept you for what you are. All she’ll ever see is a bloodthirsty, cursed, obsessive Lycan King. She’ll never see you as a man. And you’ll end up watching her marry someone else…. while you rot in your Black Tower.”
“Serena, that’s enough!” Mearez warns.
But the blade has already pierced.
I walk out, pain clawing at my chest. An ache I’ve never felt before.

It’s quiet in White Pack at night, and everyone in the Dusk household has gone to bed. I can’t sleep.

I lie beside Dessyn, who’s already fast asleep, understandably, given she hosted the coronation and was run ragged all day.
I shift slightly, turning onto my back, staring at the ceiling and trying to steady my thoughts. At first light, I’ll head to Hue Pack to retrieve the rest of my belongings.
I let out a soft sigh and pull the blanket up over my head, determined to force myself to sleep. But the moment I close my eyes, his face appears behind my eyelids.
That pierced brow. Those eyes. That mouth.
My eyes flutter open. I swallow hard, my pulse unsteady as I dare to wonder, just for a forbidden second, what it might feel like to be kissed by him.
I’ve had passing thoughts like this about Nyroth before, but none of them ever curled heat between my thighs the way this one does.
I close my eyes again, attempting control but It’s the sensation creeping over my skin that stops me this time. The chill that comes not from the night air, but from presence. His presence.
Арех
The goosebumps rise so abruptly that I crease my brows.
I slowly open my eyes again and carefully slip out of bed, making sure not to wake Dessyn. I pad softly to the window and peer out, expecting nothing. Just the guards on night duty, around the fire, laughing in low voices. Normal.
I sigh again. Maybe I really am losing my mind but just as I start to turn away, something catches the edge of my vision.
A solitary figure.
Apex
He stands at the edge of the lane, under the pale glow of the moon, like a specter cloaked in midnight. His eyes are fixed straight ahead, on me. A chill slides down my spine.
He came here.. for me
I draw away from the window, suddenly breathless,
What do I do? Why is he here?
After a few seconds of anxious debate, I grab my cloak and slip quietly out the door,
He stands alone. No guards. No raven, No horse in sight. Just him, and the cold night air that makes everything feel. impossibly still.
I approach slowly, stopping a few paces away. He’s pulled his hair back into a tight knot, dressed more simply than usual, but nothing about him looks plain. Even in silence, he commands everything around him.
He says nothing. He just watches.
“How did you find me?” I asked but no words came from him. This make another long silence fell between us.
“You walked here?” I ask again.
He doesn’t answer aloud, just gives a small nod ahead, his chin tilting.
I follow the motion and see a black warhorse nearly invisible in the shadows. Powerful. Quiet.
I turn back to him. He’s still watching.
“It’s a powerful horse.” I murmur.
He glances toward it and nods
Then, softly he replied.

“Do you want to ride it?” The offer stiffens me. “There’s a tavern I go to when I’m bothered,” he adds gently. “You want to come along?”
He’s always so direct. So raw in the way he feels. Never once has he hidden himself from me.
I look at the horse again. If I say yes, we’ll ride together and I’ll feel him too close. I may forget who I am.
But I’m bothered, too. So I nod.
He doesn’t speak again. He just reaches for my hand and twines our fingers together like it’s second nature. Like we’ve always belonged.
He leads me to the horse, and with one smooth motion, lifts me onto it as if I weigh nothing. I settle onto the beast, stunned by how steady itis, how much I’ve missed the rhythm of a real mount beneath me.
Then Apex mounts from behind, and I forget how to breathe.
His arms stretch past me to take the reins, caging me in with silent strength. His chest brushes my back. Solid, warm. commanding.
1 lower my gaze, desperate to rein in the chaos building inside me. Then his voice comes, soft at my ear.
“Shall we?”
Gods.
It sounds like a command even though it’s a question and I can’t say no.
“Yes,” I whisper.
The horse takes off at a gallop, and I have ridden many times before with my brother, with soldiers, but nothing has ever felt like this.
This feels sinful.
The wind is cold, but surrounded by him, I feel only heat.
By the time we reach the outskirts of town, the horse slows, and then stops. A tavern lies ahead, lanterns flickering outside, and the low murmur of voices within.
I eye the line of carriages and noble horses.
Apex dismounts with effortless grace and offers me his hand.
I hesitate, just for a moment, before taking it.
He helps me down, even though I could’ve done it myself. For some reason, I let him
We enter together.”
The tavern isn’t buzzing, but there are enough people talking, laughing, and drinking that no one spares us a glance.
Apex leads me to a table tucked into a corner as though it’s always been his. He pulls out a chair for me and I sit, stealing a brief glance at him.

Chairs scrape back. People rise and The barkeep rushes over.
“I was only trying to help!” the drunk protests.
The woman waves him off with a sweet smile before turning to me.
“Oh, sweetheart, you’ll need a fresh dress. There’s one upstairs. One of the ladies left it behind. Apex, take her to the room.”
The room? He has a room here?
I glance at him. He stares back without blinking, unreadable.

Apex pushed open a chamber door and stepped aside for me to walk in. It’s wide and comfortable, with a bed at the corner. A statue near to the windows. A table sat beside the bed where a few women’s necessities lay scattered. Few combs, pins, a golden brush.
A wardrobe stood against the wall. It didn’t look recently used, but the room was tidy and warm. I stood in the middle, breathing out shakily,

“I never knew you had mistresses,” I muttered at last, unable to stop the words.
He raised an eyebrow, genuinely confused.
“Mistresses?”
“You don’t wear hair ornaments,” I said, pointing at the jeweled pins on the table. He followed my direction, then looked back
at me.
“They’re for Serena.”
Serena‘ I’d never heard that name before. One of his women?
I was still wondering when he searched my eyes and took a step forward. I held my ground.
He came closer, too close, and the tension between us sparked dangerously. His hand lified, reaching toward my neck, but I stopped him with my words.
“I’m not ready to be your next mistress.”
He paused, staring into my eyes as though deciphering my meaning. Then his hands gripped my waist anyway.
Apex leaned in, his lips nearly brushing mine but I pushed him away, and he let me. He stepped back
, eyes unreadable. I exhaled shakily.
“Take me back, I demanded.
He stood still, watching me.
“You’re… jealous? Why?”
I stiffened. The word struck me like a blade. So bold of him.
“Why should I be?” I snapped.
“How would I know?” he said, genuinely baffled.
I set my jaw and moved toward the door, but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to him, slamming me against his chest. I fought his grip, but all that struggle only burned hotter between us.
He was powerful in a divine way. I knew this.
After a few seconds, he let me go, and I pushed him back.
“Take me back, or I’ll walk home myself.”
He paused for a long moment, as if trying to figure out what he’d done wrong.

His gray eyes searched me, and the faintest smile curved his lips.

I tried to sound firm, but the words came out soft and weak.
Silence stretched between us. Then, as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, his gaze dropped to my lips.
“I was thinking about you,” he whispered. “I couldn’t sleep. Your eyes, your voice… your lips.”
Hear pooled between my thighs, and I knew I should run. But I didn’t. I stayed in his arms, and when his other hand slipped around my waist. I let him draw me forward.
He leaned in, almost kissing me but I pulled away at the last second, my heart pounding.
I’m still mated to Nyroth. I… I can’t do this.
That was the thought on my mind until I saw him still watching me, silent as always.
Then something broke inside me. I rushed back into his arms. He caught me at once, lifting me onto the table, his grip firm at my waist.
He leaned down, one hand bracing my neck, and his lips almost claiming mine when I went breathless and suddenly
confessed.
“I have a mate,”
He froze. His eyes found mine slowly and I watch his jaw tensed, carved in stone.
“Alpha Nyroth of Hue Pack,” I said, voice low. “He was the one across me the day we arrived in the Lycan Kingdom.”
Apex pulled away without words, his movements slow and clipped with rage.
