It’s ridiculous to say but I swear I haven’t slept that well in years, not until I watched Lycanriar ride back toward the Lycant Kingdom.
I had gone to bed, and the moment my head hit the pillow, 1 fell asleep. But when the sun rose, it was the sting on my shoulder that jerked me awake.
A sharp burn.
I rushed out of bed, stood before the hazy mirror, and pulled down the sleeve of my dress only to see glowing runes forming across my arm and snaking down my back.
My heart skipped. I went cold.
This.. this isn’t a werewolf’s mark. It’s something else entirely.
Oh, Zephyr. You’re awake.”
I turned swiftly to find Dessyn entering. I quickly pulled my sleeve up t

She paused, eyes narrowing slightly, as if sensing something was off but then she smiled and threw herself onto the bed, dragging me down beside her.
“You left last night,” she said with a glint in her eyes. My brow arched. Did she see?
“Yes, I did. On a black warhorse. With a king,” she whispered dramatically. “My goodness, Zephyr.”
It was as though she could read my thoughts.
I gave her a playful push, then looked down, sighing.
“Tell me everything. Where did you go! And judging by the new dress you’re wearing… something definitely happened between you two. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ Fɪnd-Novel.net
I said nothing but She leaned in, searching my face.
“You did it already?” she asked in a conspiratorial whisper and I punched her arm. “Ow! You’re a warrior, that hurt!”
“I was a warrior.” I corrected her. Then finally, quietly, “We kissed.”
“With Apex?” Her voice was awed. “My gods. You kissed a king? How was it? Is he a good kisser? No, don’t answer that. Of course he is. He looks like it. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has dozens of mistresses. He’s a king, powerful, beautiful, wealthy. Women would line up just to..”
“Dessyn!”
She coughed, realizing she’d gone too far.
“I didn’t know you could get jealous. Apologies.”
“I’m not jealous,” I muttered, but she didn’t believe me.
Instead, she smiled warmly, more genuine now.
“After five years of waiting. Zephyr. I’m glad you finally let yourself feel something. And I’ll tell you for free that Apex is worth it more than Nyroth. A man like Apex worships.”
Her words struck something deep in me.
Worship. It sounded too beautiful to be true.
He said he would murder a man just for spilling wine on my dress.
If that’s his version of worship, then maybe I don’t want it.
I looked away from Dessyn, my mind tangled. But the question left me before I could stop it.
“Dessyn… does it always feel so good it hurts? That you go breathless?”
She raised a brow,
“Being kissed?”

“Yes,” I murmured, remembering the night before. “It took everything in me not to tear off his shirt. And when he kissed me. it felt unbearably good.”
Zephyr..”
“I told him I had a mate. He got angry. But then I said I’d break the bond, and… the tension, the lust between us, it was thick. Suffocating
Silence stretched between us. Then Dessyn took my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“I won’t tell you how to live, Zephyr. But know this. If your heart wants it, then take it. You’ve denied yourself all your life. If the lust is so heavy it hurts, then maybe… maybe it’s time.”
Her words echoed through me, my chest tightening.
I remembered how Varyn held her years ago, how gentle he was. I’d left to give them privacy.
But Lycannar… he held me like a starved man. Nothing about him was gentle.
I was still lost in thought when I sensed another presence. I turned toward the doorway and saw Moon standing there.
Judging by the tight line of his jaw, he’d heard everything.
“There’s a quick funeral to be held in Blackbridge Pack today,” he said to his sister, eyes avoiding mine. “The Alpha died.”
He extended a sketch. Dessyn took it and Moon left without another word
“I guess they want me to host the funeral. But why so sudden?” she muttered, inspecting the drawing. Then she froze. “Wait, Isn’t this Alpha Black?”
I stepped closer to look and froze.
It was him. The drunken nobleman who spilled wine on me.
“Alpha Black?” I asked. Which Alpha?”
She gave me a strange look.
日
“The Alpha of Blackbridge Pack, of course. After his Luna left him for cheating, he went wild. Whoring. Tavern–hopping. But dead? I can’t believe it.”
A chill settled over me. But it wasn’t just the death. It was what Lycannar had said.
He had declared he’d kill that man and he did. Even after I told him not to.
Slowly, I walked to the window, heart hammering.
An Alpha..? That means Lycannar has the power to end an Alpha’s life?
“Zephyr, would you like to come along? You’ve never been to Blackbridge, have your Dessyn asked lightly.
I shook my head. No. That’s Kaela’s pack. I’ve never stepped foot there, and I won’t start now.

The Lycan Kingdom’s gate wasn’t wide open as it had been yesterday. But when I arrived and the guard saw me, he quickly moved aside and bowed slightly.
“Can I see the King?” I asked sharply, unable to keep the anger in me in check. His brow rose.
“Uh pardon
“The Lycan King. Please!”
“Uh yes. Please follow me.”
He led the way down the hall, and as I walked past the others, they all paused to stare. Lycans. Their scent is more refined, more wild.
The guard pushed the door to the throne room and asked me to wait. He left quickly, leaving me standing there in silence.
My eyes lifted to the golden throne ahead. Majestic, deadly. The incident from yesterday flashed through my mind. How he had stabbed and stabbed the rogue Alpha until he died.
Now I understand why. Now I know why Lycannar ended him. It is because he is bloodthirsty. Because he is a maniac.
I should’ve known Lycannar isn’t a man who takes orders. But if he really wants whatever is happening between us to be smooth, he has to learn not to spill blood.
The door opened then, and I turned to see the messenger from last night walking in..
“Ah, it’s you, my lady. Please, come,” he said brightly. I followed him through the same quiet corridor as yesterday, leading to a larger dining room.
Ahead, I saw a spiral staircase disappear from sight, and a small frown pulled at my face. The black tower.
The messenger led me to the doorway then vanished, as he had before. Alone again
.
I sighed, waiting. Seconds stretched into minutes. I was growing impatient when I heard footsteps descending.
My breath caught when he came into view. Regal in his kingly attire, but without a cloak. His eyebrow rings was in place, and his eyes were green today. His long hair was loose, and I realized he only tied it back tightly when leaving the Kingdom.
I’d come with fury in my chest, ready to confront him, to end whatever he thought we had. But when he appeared, I forgot for a moment why I was even here.
He didn’t make it easier.
He walked up to me like he owned me, grabbed my waist, and lifted me onto the table. His lips brushed mine, full of that same heat and hunger.
“I never expected you’d come asking for me,” he murmured against my lips. My eyelids fluttered shut, losing control… until 1 suddenly pushed him away, panting.
He stared at me, a few steps back. He wasn’t confused by my anger. He was prepared for it. He knows.
“Why did you kill him?” I demanded. He didn’t reply and I went still. “Tell me why you killed an Alpha?!”
“I didn’t,” he finally said. My brow lifted. Then he added, pointing into the shadow, “He did.”
Slowly, I turned to see his bodyguard, an Ominous silent man, just like him, standing still as
stone. I hadn’t even known he
was there.
“You mean your bodyguard acted on his own?” I asked, and he went quiet. “Lycannar, you promised not to kill him last night.”
“I didn’t promise you anything. And why are you angry, anyway? He disrespected you.”

“He didn’t!” I snapped, pulling away from the table. My mind spun fast. I had to stop him before there were more corpses. He didn’t seem to understand right from wrong.
“Lycannar,” I said, quiet now. “You can’t kill someone just because they touched me.”
“Why?” he asked and I nearly screamed,
“Because it’s wrong! You can’t just murder people. Especially not an Alpha. Blood must be repuid”
He said nothing, just stared, his expression unreadable.
“You said you’d adapt become a man of my type,” I said softly.
“But that doesn’t mean I should stand aside and..”

He paused. Swallowed hard.
Tension curled trick between us. I was furious. And yet, I couldn’t stay that way long. He didn’t even seem to understand what was at stake.
“Lycannar
“Is that the only reason you’ve come?” he asked, cutting in as he stepped closer.
“Wait…”
“Don’t tell me you made that long journey just to whine about the dead,” he said, his palm cupping my cheek.
Heat flared between my thighs again. He leaned in to kiss me, but I stopped him with a whisper.
“What did you do to me last night?”
He stilled. Frowned in genuine confusion. “What?”
“I woke up with runes on my arm. Like the ones around your neck. They weren’t there before. Not on me, or any other werewolf I’ve ever seer
He stiffened. His eyes dropped to my arm.
“Can I see it?” he asked quietly. But there was something in his voice, an emotion I couldn’t place.
I looked away, letting him bare my shoulder. My breast peeked free slightly from the fabric. His fingers were careful. So close.
I could see the runes on his neck and the soft, matted hair on his chest.
He stared at my arm for a long moment, then looked into my eyes. Something shifted in his gaze.
“It’s my beast.. marking its territory.”
My heart dropped. Did I hear that right?
“We’re not mates,” I said, breath catching. “Why would you do that?”
But he wasn’t listening anymore. His gaze had shifted to my bare skin. My shoulder. The curve of my chest.
He swallowed hard, clearly fighting for control. When his eyes met mine again, they were no longer soft.
They were primal.
You are going to be mine, Zephyrine,” he said, my name falling from his lips for only the second time since I’d met him. I’m going to make you mine. Whether the Moon Goddess or you want it or not,”

Tense silence fell, heavy enough to crush the air from my lungs. It wasn’t just a statement. No, his tone made it a vow, carved deep into my bones.
The look in his eyes was so resolute that I knew, in my marrow, not even I could stop him now,
Our gazes locked, and for a heartbeat the world stood still, then shattered. Lycannar moved first, sharp and sudden, his hands gripping me with a possessive hunger.
I wrapped my legs around his waist without thinking, my mouth crashing into his in a kiss so ravenous it made me question if he was the only one who was primal. Or if I was too.
He carried me to the table and sat me on it, his fingers already sliding beneath my dress with burning purpose. Heat roared between us, wild and consuming, until a low. guttural growl vibrated from his chest.
The hunger in his touch sharpened, choking me in its intensity. Then, with a snarl, he tore at my dress, the fabric ripping at the shoulder, his tongue dragging over my throat like a claim.
That was when I felt the wrongness. His grip on my neck grew tighter, the pressure nearly dizzying. I broke from the kiss. trying to pull free, but he didn’t loosen his hold. And then I saw his hand. The fingers, no, claws, thickened, fur bristling across skin that had moments ago been human.
My breath stuttered and He suddenly went still.
For a heartbeat, our eyes met, only they weren’t the eyes of the Lycan King anymore. They were older, darker. alien.
“Lycannar “I breathed, my voice trembling.
He jerked away, turning his back on me, his shoulders straining as though fighting something deep inside.
“Lycan,” I called again, sliding off the table, but his hand shot out, palm turned back toward me, clawed and monstrous.
“Don’t come closer,” he growled. The sound wasn’t his voice. It was deeper, rougher, ancient.
I froze. My pulse thundered in my ears.
The doors slammed open at that moment. Princess Mearez strode in, her eyes locking on her brother. She moved with purpose, placing herself between us like a shield,
“Come here,” she said sharply, her hand reaching for mine, tugging me away. Confusion buzzed through my head, but I didn’t resist.
Mearez glanced over her shoulder at Lycannar. Something unspoken passed between them. Then she turned back to me. scanning my
face, my tom dress, the bruises forming at my neck.
“Did I hurt you?” His voice came again, this time human, softer.
I looked at him. He wouldn’t meet my EV
“Lycan…” I stepped forward, but he backed away like my presence burned him.
“Did I hurt you anywhere?” His tone was quieter now, but there was a tremor in it. Fear or rage, I couldn’t tell.
Mearez moved to me, lifting the torn fabric of my dress. Her eyes widened at the thin trail of blood running down my belly. She looked at me, jaw tightening
“No,” I lied. “I’m fine.”
He said nothing more. He just turned and walked out, each step a retreat that left my chest aching.
“So that’s it? You’re just going to walk away? I demanded, but he didn’t stop. Didn’t even look back

From the comer of my eye, I caught Chantel slipping out too. He hadn’t interfered, not even when Lycannar lost control.
I leaned against the table, breathing shakily. My skin still burned where his claws had touched. And why why wasn’t I healing
“Come with me.” Mearez murmured. She pulled off her cloak, draping it over my shoulders to hide my bruises and my torn
dress
We walked in silence through the corridors until she ushered me into her chambers. Her voice was steel when she commanded the maids to leave.
When we were alone, she drew me into a chair and studied me.
“I’m sorry,” she said, but my mind was somewhere else.
Is his obsession so deep it can break his control? We’ve barely known each other. How can it be possible?
“Will he be alright?” I asked before I could stop myself.
Mearez’s brows knit in awe..
“He gave you bruises, and you still care?”
1 dropped my gaze.
She crouched before me, taking my hand gently.
“Let me see.” She lowered the fabric of my dress, revealing the bruise and the strange runes burned into my arm.
“They appeared this morning,” I murmured. “He said it’s his beast.. marking me
“Gods,” she whispered, her gaze sharp with worry. “He’s never done this. Ever.”
Her words lodged in my chest. Am I the first?
She healed me quickly, the wound sealing under her magic, but the blood stains remained like an accusation.
“You’ll need a new dress,” she said softly. Then, after a pause she added. “He told me about the kiss.”
I swallowed.
“Yeah
“Zephyrine.” She held my eyes, her own full of warning. “My brother won’t stop coming after you. If his beast could mark you after one kiss.. it’s already over. You can’t run. But I’ll be here for you when it feels like too much.”
Goosebumps prickled my skin. Relief flickered, not for him, but because someone outside the Ash Pack, outside my military life, cared about me. Me, the rogue.
“I’m not running” I said quietly. “Maybe.. maybe if he stops killing, it could work.”
She sighed, looking away.
“I was there last night when he gave the order. I couldn’t stop it.”
Silence fell between us after that and she gets up and walk away.
Mearez brought me a fresh gown and helped me out of my ruined one. The torn dress pooled to the floor, and I stood bare before the mirror and the Lycan princess.
Her eyes flicked over my body before she helped me into the new gown. As she zipped it, I said,

Somehow, the pack feels more hollow without her, even for just one night.
In five years, she had never once slept outside these walls until now. And it’s because of that king.

I stood at the threshold of her chamber, staring at the empty bed. Sometimes she would be here, legs curled under her. working out strategies for how I could secure new alliances with other packs and they always worked.
Last night, she had been fierce. But it feels like I’ve ruined her completely by letting her see just how much I’ve been cheating on her.
“Alpha Nyroth?” My beta’s voice came from behind, pulling me from my thoughts. I turned to see him standing in the hallway, his face tense with urgency and confusion. “I thought you’d be ready by now. The funeral has already started, and Kaela sent word that she needs you
At his words, I swallowed hard. Out of nowhere, Alpha Black of the Blackbridge Pack had been found dead on his way back from the tavern.
The healers couldn’t find the cause because there is no wounds, no blade cuts, nothing. The elders had demanded a swift cremation and a small funeral.
Theaded toward the living room, where my mother stood waiting, a small smile curling her lips.
She’d been proud of me since last night, proud that I had finally agreed to send Zeph away. That had always been her desire.
“Kaela needs you, son,” she said, her hand sliding over mine with practiced softness. “You should go and console her.”
I left without another word, stepping into the carriage that would take me to Blackbridge Pack.
If anything. I had to be there for Kaela. Alpha Black had been like an uncle to her, her father was his beta.
Half an hour later, the carriage eased into the vast territory of Blackbridge. It was larger than mine and would have been more prosperous if its Alpha hadn’t fallen into drink and ruin.
The funeral was already underway ahead, but my gaze was drawn to a window, Kaela’s window. She was there, staring at me. A moment later, she turned away.
1 stepped down from the carriage and went straight to her chamber, opening the door to find no one in sight. Silence. Then soft, muffled sobs.
I followed the sound, finding her seated in a chair, wearing nothing but a sheer nightgown that clung to her curves and left nothing to the imagination. Even in grief, she was devastatingly beautiful.
“I can’t believe he’s dead,” she whispered, voice shaking.
“Kaela.” I moved to kneel before her, resting my palm on her thigh. “It’s going to be fine. Maybe it was time for him to rest. He’s been unstable, suffering ever since his Luna left him.”
She turned to me then, eyes flashing with a look I knew too well.
“The cause of Alpha Black’s death isn’t known, Nyroth,” she said softly, “but I know who killed him.”
1 stiffened. Someone had the audacity to kill an Alpha
“Who?”
“I was his Luna”
“What?”
Kaela rolled her eyes.
24PM p p
“Luna Tahlia has always been arrogant and bitter.”
“Alpha Black cheated on her, so…“I hesitated, guilt creeping in. “It’s… normal if she’s bitter.”
“Well, she killed him. And that pup she’s parading at the funeral? It’s not his.”
Her words hit me like a blade.

Kacla, keep your voice down. If anyone hears such accusations, they’ll punish you. Do you want Hue Pack to go to war?”
She went quiet, staring at me for a long moment before her eyes welled again, tears slipping down her cheeks and slicing through my chest.
“I should have known you’d stop caring the moment I left for the empire’s mission. Your mate called me a whore last night and you did nothing. Now you call me a liar when I’m telling you the truth.”
I reached for her, but she pulled away, sobbing. Just like that, anger toward Zeph surged in me for insulting her.
“If Luna Tahlia is guilty and her pup isn’t Alpha Black’s, she has no place here,” I said tightly.
And her pup can’t rule the pack either,” Kaela replied, voice sharper now. “Alpha Black had no siblings, which leaves the Alpha’s seat to one man. His beta, my father.”
I froze as her meaning sank in. I began to pull back, but she caught my wrist, holding me in place.
“It’s simple politics, Nyroth. We frame her for his death. Expose the pup as a bastard. The elders will have no choice but to crown my father as Alpha”
“Kaela…”
“How does that sound, my love?” Her voice turned velvet as she guided my fingers between her thighs, pressing me into her Cunte. “Me, the daughter of an Alpha. If my father dies, I’d be the first female Alpha. Our packs combined. no one could touch us. Not even Apex.”
Her wetness made my cock ache. I loved her ambition and I loved her even more for opening herself to me like this.
I slid my fingers deeper into her, and she leaned back, moaning softly.
Gods, that sound. I lost myself, lowering my head toward her, but she stopped me, gripping my hair.
“Your mate calls me your whore. I won’t be that anymore.”
My jaw tightened as I gripped her thigh.
“I’ll make her pay for that. Now let me taste you.”
She let go, and I sealed my mouth over her clit, licking and sucking while she clawed at my back and moaned my name. Just like she used to.

I have returned home tired and pale. Luckily for me, no one is here; they have all gone to Alpha Blackbridge’s funeral.
The slept on Dessyn’s bed until now. Gently, I walk to the mirror and pull off my dress. There it is. Lycannar’s mark sprawling over my back. Isigh
He’s marking me so quickly. I wonder how far he’ll go now. I move toward the bath chamber to cool off, floating gently through the room.
As I begin rubbing my milky, soft skin, the memories of our burning kiss flash through my mind, and I swallow hard.
Never have I felt this connected to anyone, not even my mate. What I feel for Nyroth is nothing like what Lycannar makes me feel.
At the thought of him, my inner thighs grow warm, and I lower my gaze quietly. He’s only held me a few times, yet I feel like I’m already breaking,
My eyes drop to my breasts, and somehow, my nipples harden. He’d only gotten a peek, and even that had made him lose

What if I stood before him fully naked? Would he lose his mind?
“Zephyr?”
The call of my name jolts me back to reality. I quickly get out of the water and grab a cloth from the nail.
“Zephyr?”
“I’m here.
Dessyn opens the bath chamber door and stares at me for a moment before sighing in relief.
“What’s up, best friend?”
“Good. I’ll join you in the room soon,” I say, and she nods before walking away.
After she’s gone, I quickly grab a fresh dress and put it on, then make my way to the chamber, where I sit on the bed.
I feel refreshed but I’m aware that the mark on my arm and back is keeping me warm somehow.
“Zephyr!”
The exclamation snaps me from my thoughts, and I look at her standing by the window.
“Moon Goddess, what are you thinking about so hard?”
I sigh shakily, then shake my head.
“It’s nothing”
Dessyn studies me for a few seconds before sighing.

“It’s understandable, given Alpha Black cheated on her.” I reply smoothly.
Dessyn stares harder at me, clearly holding something back.
“What?” Tasked.
“Nyroth,” she says softly. “He came to the funeral… but went straight to Kaela’s chamber.”
I stare blankly, listening as she continues.
They fucked. I’m certain, because when Kaela and he finally showed up at the funeral, they were holding hands and they recked of each other.”
Silence follows her words, and I use the quiet to suppress the irritation in my wolf. I won’t get too mad. I am not a saint, after

I swallow hard, shaking my head.
“It’s nothing.”
Silence again. Dessyn keeps her eyes on me, then asks,
“Lycannar? He told you his real name?”
1 look away.
“I asked, and he told me. If an Ashmere is going to kiss a man she’s not mated to, she should at least know his name.”
“You make it sound like you were forced to kiss him,” she murmurs.
I shift my gaze to her and she goes on.
“What? He hurt you already, and now you’re pulling away?”
“I’m not pulling away
“It looks like it to me. Nyroth never cared about you,
but..”
“Lycannar doesn’t care about me either,” I cut her off, my voice tight. “He’s only obsessed. There’s a big difference. He’s not a knight in shining armor, Dessyn. He’s a toxic psychopath cloak in black. And I have too much to worry about to be jumping from a faithless Alpha to a ruthless King”
Dessyn hears my frustration but doesn’t know why I’ve lashed out. Quietly, she sets her jaw and turns to stare out the window.
The silence between us makes me wonder what’s wrong with me. Why did I lash out? Fresh chapters posted on Find★Novel.net
Was it because Nyroth could lie with another woman while still mated to me but I can’t!
Or because Lycannar walked away from me this morning without any explanation?
The thought sticks in my mind until something sparks inside me. The mark on my arm burns softly, and I feel his presence. Slowly, I rise from the bed and walk to the window beside Dessyn.
Staring out, I see him under the night sky. I’m right.
He hasn’t arrived like a king in shining armor. He’s chaos wrapped in a black cloak, seated on a black, powerful horse.
He ‘ksiseme at me, leaning lazily againu his mount, his long hair tied back.

“I guess you’ll have no choice but to jump from a cheating mate who never cared… to a King obsessed enough to come here addal in escort. To a pack smaller than his throne room. Dessyn murmurs.
I set my jaw. She’s won this round. I pull away from the window and head out of the pack house, down the lonely lane, until I sand before him.
He had gotten down from his horse now
A few steps away, I search his eyes. He looks… more himself. Quiet as always. Guarded.
Then I watch his gaze move to my bare neck, then down to my dress.
It’s almost like he’s peeling the gown off me, stripping me bare in his mind.
“You should stop coming here. Your presence attracts attention,” I say
His gaze shifts back to mine. He stares in silence for a while, then steps forward, his palm reaching to cup my cheek but I pull

“Zephyrine…”
“You can retreat from me, turn your back, leave without a word and you think I’ll just jump into your arms the next time we meet? Really?”
His jaw tightens.
Then he closes the distance sharply, hands on my waist but I punch him hard in the chest.
“Let me go! I’m not yours, Lycannar
He doesn’t obey. In his arms, his palm cups my cheek, our foreheads touch, and our breaths mix as we both pant. I lose the fight.
“Don’t deny us this,” he begs. “Just stay still.”
I tried, Moon Goddess knows I tried but I lose when he claims my lips again.
At first, he’s calm and I’m gentle.
Until I push him back against his horse and leap into his arms. He catches me instantly, kissing me hard as my legs wrap

Nothing matters in that moment. The lines between obsession and morality blur into nothing.
The world disappears. There’s no mate. No crown. Nothing. Only his hands, my body, and the burning mark that feels like it’s branding me to him forever.
