Ch. 231..235: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 231-235

Back Where 231

I had seen shock before when I revealed my true identity as an Ashmere but this time, it was vastly different. Vastly out of space.

A woman thought to be dead, rising from the ashes?

Kaela froze, her eyes widening in utter awe, while the crowd parted for her. The one who had endured too much, who would bow her head, fall to her knees, even attempt to end her life if that meant saving her son.

Luna Tahlia. Alive.

She rose like a vision. Beautiful. Elegant. And in her, I saw the truth of her words, that she had been trained only to lead with grace. She walked to me first, her gaze clinging to mine as though I were her savior.

“You are here,” she said, gratitude trembling in her voice. She remembered my promise that I would not leave her hanging.

I swallowed and nodded.

“Of course I am. But go now. This is your spotlight. I won’t steal it.”

Her eyes lightning.

softened before she turned to Kaela, who stumbled backward as though struck by

“She is… a ghost. She is dead! Even her son was ruled dead. Why is she here now?”

Murmurs rose from every corner, swelling until the market square buzzed with fear and awe. I stayed silent, deciding to watch it all play out. If she truly wanted to lead her son’s pack, she would have to stand her ground.

Tahlia stepped forward, pausing at Warrior June’s battered figure. His body was broken, his chest bleeding, but still, he knelt tall. She lowered her gaze in guilt, then nodded at the guards.

“Release him.”

At once, they obeyed, unbinding him until he collapsed before her.

The members of Blackbridge were here too, and it was clear, they had never needed a savior more. Under Yadev’s reign, they had gained nothing. Only poverty and despair.

“You were ruled dead, Luna Tahlia,” Lady Sylvara of the Council snapped harshly. “How can you stand here alive?”

“I was ruled dead to survive. An Ashmere saved me when no one else would. This Council was formed to bring peace and unity, but all you have done is play favorites and cast me out.” She strode forward, her voice echoing. “It was proven after the duel months ago that my son is the rightful ruler of Blackbridge Pack. I am here to claim it back.”

Silence pressed down until Kaela cracked. She rushed forward, glaring into Tahlia’s face.

“Choose your words carefully, Luna. We all know the son in your arms is not…”

“You will be silent.” Tahlia cut her off, her voice sharp as steel. “Your words would betray you if I open the truth. If I were you, I’d stay quiet.”

Kaela’s lips snapped shut.

“You cannot return from the dead and demand an Alpha’s seat,” Osmir, another Council member, barked.

But Tahlia only smirked.

“Then let’s ask the people. Let’s ask Warrior June. Let’s ask the other Alphas. Do you call Yadev’s rule holy? Do you call it just?”

For a heartbeat, silence stretched. Then voices rose from the crowd.

“We want our true Luna back!”

“Yes! Yadev has only led us into ruin!”

The tide swelled until even Warrior June stood tall, his voice carrying weight.

“We will not follow Yadev anymore. If Luna Tahlia does not return, then we, the Blackbridge guards and armies will go rogue.”

“You dare defy me?!” Yadev thundered. “You are still on death row, Warrior June! You won’t live long enough to go rogue!”

“Why?” Tahlia’s voice rang out, silencing him. “Because he refused to lead an army against Alpha Zephyrine and the Lycan King? Against their mission to rescue Varyn Ashmere, the very one Kaela Yadev sold into slavery for five years?!”

That broke everything.

The crowd erupted, shock rippling like a storm. My chest tightened, emotions threatening to break me, until I felt Hades’s hand steady me at my back. I leaned into his strength, grateful beyond words.

Every eye turned to Kaela. What began as an execution had now shifted into the reinstatement of the true Luna, and a damning glare at her who called herself “envoy of peace.”

“A notice will come to you soon,” the Council finally declared. “Your son shall inherit the seat his true father left him.”

Luna Tahlia froze, her eyes distant even as jubilation broke among her people. It wasn’t a full victory, not yet but it was a beginning. Her son would no longer live in hiding.

She turned to me, her lips trembling as she bit them to hold back her tears. Slowly, she bowed.

“I will never be able to repay you for this. Will you still forgive me?”

I squeezed her hand gently.

“Repay me by being strong. I trust you.”

She nodded, then leaned close, whispering words that chilled me to the bone.

“Beta Jurrek sent word, Alpha Zephyrine.”

I frowned.

“What word?”

“Your brother is unstable. You need to come. It’s urgent.”

The joy around me faded instantly. Panic coiled in my veins. I turned to Hades in desperation.

“Please, can I borrow Lycannar’s horse?”

He searched my eyes, then nodded.

“Of course,”

“Then take Luna Tahlia back with you to the Lycan Kingdom. She’ll be safe there until the notice comes to restore her.”

Again, he nodded, steady and sure.

“I’ll keep her safe.”

“Thank you.”

With that, I ran for the great black steed of the Lycan King. Mounting it, I marveled at its raw strength before urging it forward.

The beast surged into a gallop, carrying me down the road, racing back toward Ash Pack, toward my brother.

Back Where 232

I descended the stairs to meet the guest they said had arrived. I approached gently, stopping at the foot to stare at her after months of being ruled as dead.

Luna Tahlia. Her name, and her precious son.

My brother stood there with him, and I looked around beyond them for Zephyrine but she was nowhere to be seen.

“Your Majesty.” The Luna bowed immediately when she saw me walk in, but I didn’t respond at

once.

Instead, I watched Hades carrying young Black in his arms, the little boy fast asleep against him as though he belonged there.

“I… I apologize for coming here,” Luna Tahlia began as she looked up, bowing again.

“Where is Zephyrine?” I cut her words short.

“Ah.” She sighed. “She went back to Ash Pack. Her brother is not feeling well, and she was called to return.”

Hearing this made me swallow hard. I shifted my gaze to my brother, who stared at me knowingly. Without words, our eyes met, and then I turned back to the Luna.

“Zephyrine said you

“Yes, yes. I… I did.”

would make your appearance today.”

“Smart woman, if you ask me,” my brother Hades said as he walked to the table and leaned there. “Your woman is fierce.” The source of thɪs content is Find1Novel.net

I smiled at that, proudly. I already knew Zephyrine was unlike anyone else, and Luna Tahlia here was no less, a strong and clever woman in her own right.

When my gaze shifted back to her, I noticed she was staring at Hades with confusion, probably wondering who he was.

“He is my older brother,” I told her, prompting her to turn to me. “His name is Hades.”

“Ah… I see.” She murmured, bowing toward Hades again. For a brief moment, I could swear I

felt an awkwardness between them, like something had happened on their way here.

“Little brother, your fiancée borrowed your horse. She was in a hurry.”

“So you rode here in a carriage with Luna Tahlia?”

“Yup.”

I paused right there, noting that something had indeed happened on their way. I was still lost in thought when my two sisters came rushing over.

“My gods, I heard what happened back in the market square outside the Lycan gates.” Serena’s voice rang as she hurried to stand before the beautiful Luna. “Are you okay?”

“Perfect. It’s hectic, standing before everyone for months now, but… I managed. I will be waiting for the notice,” she said, swallowing hard, as though whatever happened had drained her.

My sister Mearez went to take her hand, gentle as always.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah. I’m fine… thank you.” She looked around at us all, then back at Mearez. “I don’t know if it’s okay for me to stay here until the notice comes, or if I should…”

“My sister–in–law says you should, so you will,” Hades cut in gently, and I nearly raised an eyebrow at how eager he sounded for her to remain.

Mearez nodded without hesitation.

“There are guest rooms near my quarters. You can stay there with your son. Come, I’ll show you so you can settle down.”

“Thank you…” Luna Tahlia murmured softly. Slowly, she turned toward me again and added, “Thank you, really.”

I didn’t speak. At last, she turned toward Hades and reached gently for the sleeping young Black, but the moment her fingers brushed her son, he burst into tears, startling me.

It was as though he didn’t want to leave Hades. I exchanged a glance with Serena, confused, and watched as Luna Tahlia finally gathered her son into her arms despite his cries.

Flushed with embarrassment, she bowed and walked off with my sisters, leaving the dining hall to Hades and me.

Silence fell after their departure. My eyes stayed on Hades, because I had been waiting for this.

He finally turned and found me staring at him, my arms folded across my chest.

“Uh… may I know my offense, Your Majesty?” he asked, and I shot him a glare.

“You implicate me, Brother Hades. Can you believe Father now wants me to be king too? He said one of us has to be king, and if we won’t go with the woman he chose, then we must present our fated mate.”

“What?!”

I rolled my eyes and sighed, exhausted. Slowly, I unfolded my arms and dropped into a chair with a heavy flop.

“I don’t know what to do. If I dare tell him I am going to marry an Ashmere, maybe he’ll sentence me to death as well.”

“It looks like my own fate is brighter than yours,” he murmured, making me glare again.

“And whose fault is that?”

He sighed, looking away as he raked his fingers through his hair. Then, as if brushing it aside, he asked,

“I remember this Luna. Isn’t she the one your woman fought a duel for? I attended that duel. Remember?”

“Yes… so?” I asked, watching him with suspicion. He only shrugged.

“She is… a widow, isn’t she?” I raised a careful brow, waiting. “I mean, she must be lonely. Don’t you think?”

“You’re not talking about…”

“I am.” He cut me off with a shrug. “She kept stealing glances at me in the carriage. Maybe she

wants me too,”

“She didn’t even know who you were when Zephyrine entrusted her to you. Of course she would glance at you. But what can I say? You’re both adults.” I leaned back in my seat, lost in thought about my own fate. “I wonder how my woman is doing. Will she be okay?”

“Before

you begin to worry about that, maybe worry about your throne waiting for you in the Demon Realm,” he said. I looked up at him, and he continued, “Because I don’t have a mate, and I’m not ready to be king either.”

I stared at him, letting him savor the thought of freedom before I shattered it.

Father gave us until next month’s full moon. He said if we don’t present a mate, either you or I, there will be scores to settle.”

Hearing this, it was my brother Hades’s turn to stare at me in awe. He raised a brow to confirm, and I nodded. His shoulders sagged, realizing, at last, that we were both in deep, deep trouble.

Back Where 233

The black horse of the man I know so well I will marry gallops into Ash Pack, and the gate swings ajar as it halts right there.

Somehow, I can feel a different tension. It’s suddenly too quiet, and I swear I hate it. I hate the fact that everything seems so silent and calm. Why? What’s wrong?

“Zephyr…” Dessyn’s voice comes through as she rushes outside, and I head to her at once, dismounting from the horse to listen. “Zephyr…”

No other words come, and it makes me suspicious. What has happened? Anything but bad news about Varyn. Anything at all, but not about my brother.

I bypass Dessyn and head inside, into that same hallway that usually leaves me breathless. I arrive just in time to see the elders there, all murmuring in hushed voices, and I catch sight of Jurrek Bane too.

Upon seeing me, he rushes forward.

“You are here.”

“What happened?” I ask, my eyes searching his, and he swallows.

“He went… unstable.”

“Crazy,” one of the elders cuts in as if to correct Jurrek, and I go still.

“Your brother is unstable. He went completely mad. He slashes and claws at everything. He is dangerous.”

“Dangerous to everyone, to the whole pack. He is a warrior. What if he is set loose? He might as well kill everyone in a fit of rage and trauma.”

Never have I been more stunned than now. From all the insults and words they spit, one thing stands out. The words ‘set loose‘. It sounds like Varyn is bound.

Slowly, I make my way to the door, bypassing Jurrek, and stand before it. Already goosebumps rise on my skin. How painful it is to face reality.

There is no Lycannar and no steadying hand at my lower back to ground me from sorrow and tension. I am alone here.

17:59 Mon, Sep 22 N

I reach for the doorknob and turn it, pushing the door open to step quietly inside his bedchamber. What I see freezes me in place.Varyn is right there on the bed, thrashing like the crazed beast they said he had become, bound to keep him from hurting others, and himself.

Walking further in, seeing my brother in such a state, shatters everything I believed I lived for.

Tears sting my eyes before I can hold them back. Quietly, I move toward him and reach for the ropes that bind him, ready to untie them, when the door opens and Jurrek rushes forward.

“Zephyr, I understand how you feel, but this isn’t the solution. I beg you…”

He doesn’t finish before Varyn’s wolf growl tears through the air. He convulses, slashing at nothing, as if proving the elders right, that he is crazy.

Quickly, I bypass Jurrek, taking Varyn’s hand and anchoring him back to me until he quiets, until he grows calm. Gently, I reach for the ropes that bind him, untying them as tears trail down my cheeks.

“Varyn?” I whisper, but before I can say more, he suddenly lunges forward. I’m fast enough to block him, shoving him back. “Snap out of it, Varyn!”

A growl rumbles again, but he pauses, waiting. He stares, and I stare back, unflinching, my chest heaving.

“Leave us. Close the door,” I order Jurrek without looking away.

He hesitates.

“Zephyr, he is…”

“Get out and close the door, Jurrek!” I snap, silencing him immediately. He obeys, shutting the door behind him, leaving me alone with the man I once knew as my best brother.

Seeing him like this clenches my heart. I bite my lip to stifle the tears, but they come anyway, and I look away to steady myself.

“You will stop being like this, Varyn. Do you hear me?” My glare burns, my voice rising. “You will snap out of this trauma and come back to us all. Do you get it?! We failed you for five

for five years -I get it. I failed you. For five years, while you rotted, I stayed in another man’s pack, pouring our parents‘ compensation money into saving his dying home. I left you to rot in Blackwater.”

My lips tremble, but I go on, weary, broken.

“Varyn… you are the love of my life. You are my brother. You are not a slave. You are not in Blackwater anymore. You are home–here, in the pack our parents ruled over.” Slowly, I take his hand, tenderly. “Varyn, you won’t let them laugh at us, will you? I know it’s a big deal to have been imprisoned for five years, but will you give our enemies the chance to mock us now? Will you?”

He pauses, blinks. Gradually, claws shift back to fingers. Fur recedes into skin. He blinks again, looking at me.

“Zephyr?” he calls, and I swallow hard. He’s back. “Zephyr.”

Shattered, I guide him gently to the bed, flinging the ropes aside.

“Have you eaten? Did you take your potion?” I ask, and he shakes his head, still staring. I swallow again, harder, then walk to the door. Outside, I find them all waiting. I beckon Blue and Isolde at once.

“My brother will eat now. And he will take his potion.”

Immediately, they hurry toward the kitchen to prepare. I return to the bed, laying my brother down with care.

I take his frail hand and sigh shakily.

“You will be fine, Varyn. We will go through this together. You will be fine again. Understood?”

He swallows, nods. His eyes soften, drifting shut, and he sinks into sleep. I watch him for a brief moment, then rise at last, sighing shakily as I head out.

Exhaustion drags me down, the verge of a breakdown looming. I open the door and step into the hall. Without words, I head toward my chamber, but Jurrek suddenly catches my wrist. I turn, staring at him.

He looks at me with guilt, his voice low.

“Alpha Zephyrine, I apologize.”

“For what?” I ask, calm, so deadly calm that he swallows hard. “Tell me, Jurrek. For what do you apologize?”

He hesitates before muttering,

“Because I allowed Varyn to be bound…”

He doesn’t finish before I shove him hard in the chest.

“My brother is not crazy! And you will not treat him like a madman!” I snap, my voice loud and cutting. “You are my beta. You are supposed to keep order in the pack until I return. Can’t I have one night outside responsibility? One night to be happy?!”

Silence descends. Choking back bile, I stand my ground and make it firm, clear, for all of them to hear.

“Varyn Ashmere is my blood brother. He will be Alpha again, take back the seat rightfully his once he recovers. And when that day comes, each and every one of you who spat on his name will pay with your lives. I swear it.”

Back Where 234She had arrived like a storm and taken the glory with her. Who would have known she had rescued Luna Tahlia and kept her alive and safe?

Zephyrine.

The more I thought of her, the more I couldn’t wrap my head around how she had been so perfect. Still.

I swallowed from where I stood and turned when I heard soft footsteps. It was my mother, standing there, staring at me.

“Mother,” I called, stepping closer, but she held out a hand and shook it, sighing.

“I heard what happened at the market square. Does that mean, again, Zephyrine took the glory?”

I couldn’t help but sigh.

“She took the glory and left Kaela’s reputation in the mud. Now it’s all out there, perhaps Kaela isn’t the envoy of peace we all thought her to be.”

My mother walked toward the couch and settled, sighing.

“Nyroth. Tell me something. Do you still love Zephyrine?”

Goosebumps rose on my skin, and I blinked. The question made my heart clench. There was no point hiding the truth anymore.

I sighed shakily, staring at her.

“I want Zeph. She means so much to our pack, to our lives, Mom. I lost her already before I realized she is who I want. The one I want.”

I settled into the chair, groaning in frustration. I didn’t know what to do. I haven’t even made love to anyone since the incident and revelation. I… I want to marry her.

“Why don’t you talk to her?” My mother’s voice broke my thoughts, and I looked at her, waiting. “Why don’t you explain exactly how you feel? Make an apology in the most fitting way? Or perhaps enter her life in the name of a trade? I heard from my bedchamber that Ash Pack has lacked connection with the neighboring packs for five years. Maybe this is your time

to step in. Nyroth.”

“Mother perhaps… do you know how to reverse time?” I asked, searching her eyes. “Do you know how to turn back time to when Zeph was still my mate? With that connection, she wouldn’t be clouded by Apex, and I could have a strong hold on her.”

My mother remained silent, staring at me before slowly sighing.

“Hue Pack members only get mated once in a lifetime. There is nothing we can do about it. Maybe this is fate, which I won’t let you accept. If there is another way to connect to her… perhaps with… with an amulet?”

I stared at her for what seemed like an eternity. Did I just hear that right? An amulet?

I had heard stories of past Hue Pack Alphas who used the amulet to bind themselves to someone they loved, after fate denied them.

“But the amulet only works if the two individuals love one another. If Zeph didn’t love me, it would be painful for her.”

My mother stared at me and slowly heaved.

“If she won’t be yours by case, won’t she be by force? Do you think your rival. a cursed king, will sit idly by and let anyone take that woman from him too?”

I sat there, gazing at my mother, blinking. There was truth in her words. If I couldn’t reach her, then maybe…. maybe I had failed as a man. But still, it would be excruciating for her…

“You have to do it at all cost.”

A voice came from the entrance, and I turned to see Lady Sylvara, one of the Council members, standing there.

Stunned, I rose immediately, surprised at her impromptu arrival, but she walked further in.

“Alpha Nyroth, I believe you will be the savior of our empire,” she said quietly. “Apex and Zephyrine can never be together. It is a prophecy they must be apart. Bringing forth a pup together would bring chaos. The only way to prevent this is for you to have her, by all cost. By all cost, you must cross every limit. The amulet, your forefathers used it in the past, and it is effective in ways you cannot fathom. All you have to do is make sure she wears it. Gradually, her hatred will shift to love. The kind of love and devotion you cannot yet imagine. Her body, her soul, everything will be yours. Do you want me to arrange the amulet, or will you let a king from a different kind altogether come to your empire and snatch the woman you love?”

Silence fell in the living room. I turned to my mother, waiting. Impatiently. The thought struck me.

It would be shameful if I did not have Zeph in my lifetime. I wanted her with no doubt.

I looked up at Lady Sylvara and nodded.

“When will the amulet be ready?”

She smiled at me, and I swallowed hard. I shouldn’t care about the pain Zeph would endure when the amulet began to bend her against her heart’s desire.

Apex, the Lycan king, stole her heart. I would steal her soul.

Back Where 235

“Alpha Zephyrine, the ring will be ready in an hour. My master asked if you wish for anything to be engraved.”

I met his gaze and nodded, my pulse thrumming.

“The Ashmere crest… and the drop of blood I have provided.”

He bowed and left, footsteps fading, while my hands trembled as I turned toward the stable.

This was no mere token. This was sacred. The drop of my blood. The very essence of me sealed into sacred white jade, binding my soul to his. I had decided. I would make it official. I would claim Lycannar as he had claimed me.

With this ring, forged with the blood I had willingly offered, we would be bound heart, body, and soul. An unbreakable tether that no force in the realms could sever.

My chest ached and my heartbeat surged, knowing that this act was more than ritual. It was a declaration, raw and eternal, that I was his, and he was mine.

One thing about being an Ashmere warrior is that we don’t live only for ourselves. We live for those who follow and obey us.

Like now. I was supposed to be somewhere else, but here I am in the stable, leaning against the wall, watching Lycannar’s horse and imagining him on it.

It had been four days since I returned in a hurry to my pack, and the good news was that after his outburst, Varyn had finally taken his health seriously.

He was recovering, and his wolf had begun to reform into the enigmatic, powerful one he

once was.

Dessyn had stayed behind. The gods blessed her soul and heart. Moon had stayed, but he had to go to Moonveil Fortress to complete his summer training.

Blue and Isolde had remained true, making the tension ease much better.

I was lost in thought when I heard a neigh from ahead. My horse and Lycannar’s. They are mates, my man had told me, but seeing them together in one stable was strangely… tender.

I lowered my gaze from their display of devotion and turned to head back to my bedchamber, where I had sealed myself for days. But when I stepped into the hall, I found Jurrek waiting.

I bypassed him and headed in anyway, but at the last moment, he reached for my wrist, stopping me. Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on fіndnovel.net

“Zephyr.” He called quietly, and I turned narrowly. I hadn’t forgiven him for what he had done. No. Not so easily.

“You have news?” I asked curtly. He searched my eyes for what seemed like an eternity before sighing.

“The elders are waiting at the meeting hall. They wish to speak with you,” he said, glancing briefly at me. “Your aunt’s husband, Lord Yua, also seeks an audience.”

I nodded and pulled my wrist free from his clutch. I decided to hear the elders out first. My uncle can wait till my brother recover.

Now, after accepting Lycannar’s ring, I felt lazy about pack affairs. It was Varyn’s task, after all, and he should shoulder it, not me. Not me at all.

I pushed open the hall door to see them all seated. Immediately, they rose, but I wasn’t interested. The last time I was here, bound and constrained, they had turned away from me. I had no patience for their hypocrisy now.

I walked to the chair and settled after Jurrek pulled it out for me, resting my elbow on the

table.

“Yes?” I asked, almost distastefully. One of the elders reached for a report and passed it to me.

“Alpha Zephyrine, the pack is at the edge of famine. It has been five Long years since we have traded with neighboring packs. Our supplies are exhausted, and…”

“Then make trades,” I cut him off, yawning. “I said on the day of my ascension ceremony that trade should be open. Jurrek, see to it. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”

I rose to leave, but an elder stopped me.

“You did not take the seat of an Alpha for the people, did you?” Slowly, I turned to the elder who questioned me. “The vow you made when you ascended the throne, did you not believe in it? You took the seat for something else, did you not?”

Silence fell as I scanned them all.

“You’ve got me

,” I admitted. “Actually, I took the seat to save my brother. Now that he is here, once he recovers, he will take back the seat that is rightfully his.”

“You think taking the seat as Alpha is a joke, do you? Having the Moon Goddess‘ blessing?”

“I understand the gravity of it all,” I countered, glaring. “I am the one who met the Moon Goddess and spoke to her, not you. I wish to lead, but politics is boring and exhausting.”

I rolled my eyes and dropped a bombshell.

“You want to know first? Here we go. I am getting married to the Lycan King.” Gasps echoed, but I raised my hand, showing the ring. “I said yes. You have seen Lycannar, haven’t you? He is eager, and so am I. As soon as my brother is ready to rule, I am leaving you all to him. I assure you, Varyn won’t be as benevolent as I am.”

I straightened and sighed, just as the door opened and a man entered, looking like a messenger. He bowed, bearing a sealed scroll.

“Alpha Zephyrine, this is a notice from the Wolf Fortress,” he said. I turned to Jurrek, who took the notice and read it, raising an eyebrow at me.

“They want you to stand trial tomorrow at the Wolf Fortress for wiping out Blackwater and allowing thousands of slaves to roam the empire freely.”

“Lycannar’s name is written there?” I asked. He shook his head.

“Of course not. Who would dare?” I took the scroll from him and tore the notice. “No one stands trial. The situation doesn’t even deserve it. Once my brother wakes, all will be well. Until then, make trades and keep the pack steady. I will soon be a wife. You all should expect it and respect it.”

As I turn to leave, I have to pause because right before me stands Nyroth Hue, and judging by the expression on his face, he has definitely heard every word I said. Well, for the better. I am not his, and I will become Lycannar’s wife.
