Ch. 241..245: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 241-245

Back Where 241

I couldn’t breathe. Not truly. What I found were two certain truths. The moment I put the necklace back on, when Nyroth extended it to me, my thoughts became disoriented and the bond I shared with Lycannar snapped, shattered.

The second truth. I felt a pull toward Nyroth. A pull that went against my heart’s true desire. It was painful not to obey it.

As I hurried down the stairs, I bypassed guards and maids until I broke outside. My steps carried me to the carriage waiting in the courtyard, but before climbing in, I felt it. His eyes on

me.

Slowly, I turned toward the Black Tower. Lycannar stood in the corridor, staring at me, probably wondering why I had called another man’s name in my sleep. And not just any man, but my ex–mate, the one I was supposed to hate.

I swallowed under the weight of his gaze. Every piece of my heart screamed to run to him. But I couldn’t. The pull toward Nyroth was too powerful. I climbed into the carriage, and it rolled toward Hue Pack without delay.

Yet the farther it carried me, the worse it grew. As the carriage wheels crossed out of the Lycan Kingdom, leaving it all behind, I felt myself torn by two different forces. Two pulls. Two loves. My very heart battling something unnatural. Something unworldly.

I leaned forward, jaw set, fighting to stay steady. At last, the carriage wheels ground into Hue Pack territory, but I couldn’t step out. Not yet. Not when my body was breaking apart inside

me.

I bit my lower lip, trying to anchor myself. Trying to stay sane. And in one sharp instant, something within me stirred. A strange power. Faint, but enough to help me face what was coming.

I stepped from the carriage and stood there, drawing breath. They all stopped to stare.

The pack members, the guards, the maids. They looked as they should at an Alpha. At the first female Alpha. The same one they once mocked as a rogue.

I ignored them and strode into the hall. Past the guards. Past the staff. Straight into the wide chamber of Nyroth Hue. He was there, waiting.

It was as though he had known I would come. His gaze pinned me. His arms hung by his sides,

yet the pull inside me screamed to fall into them.

My heart knew it wasn’t real. It wasn’t what I wanted. But the ache tore through me, unrelenting, and when he finally spread his arms wide to welcome me, my resistance shattered.

I walked into Nyroth’s arms.

He crushed me against him, clinging with possession and hunger.

“My gods, Zeph,” he breathed, desperate. “How I wish I could turn back the clock, to claim you when you were fully mine. But now… you are mine. Are you not?”

Every part of me knew I wasn’t. But the unholy force inside me urged me to agree. To surrender.

Still, the devotion I carried for Lycannar refused to be silenced. I fought the spell, denied him, and shattered in the attempt. Blood sprayed from my lips. I fell to my knees.

“Zeph!”

“What did you do to me?” My voice broke as I coughed, breath uneven. He tried to help me up, but I flung his hand away, trembling with rage and disgust at myself, for ever wanting to be in his arms.

Horror filled his face as he stared at the blood on the floor. Then the doors burst mother. His sister.

“What did you do to me, Nyroth?!” My voice rang through the hall, ragged with fury. “What kind of spell is this?”

“The darkest of all.”

Pamela’s voice slid like a blade. My head snapped toward her.

“After you left the square,” she said, walking closer, “The council menebr made a decision. They summoned the most powerful witch in the empire. A love–binding spell. The strongest amulet.

Gooseflesh rose along my skin. My breath shook as I bit my lip, struggling to steady myself.

“What’s the cure?!” I demanded. “What can be done?”

Pamela glanced at her son, Nyroth, then back to me. She smiled.

“Never did I imagine a day would come where I’d stand before the Lycan King’s woman and see the love she feel for him crumbled.” Her smile deepened as she faced Nyroth. Then she turned her eyes on me.

“This is only the beginning, Zeph. Don’t fight the pull, it will consume you. Soon you’ll forget any love you’ve ever had. Soon, all you’ll want is Nyroth Hue. But don’t worry. You will be fine.”

Her laughter echoed as she walked in, pulling Olivia who clearly was not I support. I can tell from the emotion in her eyes, leaving the truth burning like fire in my chest.

I, Zephyrine Ashmere, who had promised the man I loved that I would return before afternoon, sank to the floor. Nyroth caught me, his palm caressing my cheek with false

concern.

My vision blurred. My eyes fluttered closed. And just before unconsciousness took me, I felt it. My thoughts unraveling, my will splintering. Pamela was right. I wanted Nyroth. I was forgetting the man I truly loved.

Only she was wrong about one thing.

It wasn’t gradual. It was instant.

And as the darkness swallowed me, one final thought struck. Who in this empire had the power to cast such a spell?

“You okay?” The question came from the doorway of my bedchamber, and I looked up from where I sat on the bed to see my brother.

He must have noticed my silence at the dining hall this morning when I came down for breakfast.

I lowered my gaze and nodded.

“Yes… I…” I sighed, then looked up at him. “Maybe I’m worrying too much.”

“Come out.” He said simply, and I rose from the bed. I walked into the living room, bypassing him, and he turned to watch me.

“Something wrong

with

and you

your woman?”

I raked my fingers through my hair as I tried to steady my breath. I dropped into a chair, mind spinning, the storm of emotions overwhelming me, sharp and unfamiliar.

“I can’t feel the connection with Zephyrine anymore,” I confessed. “It’s like she… doesn’t exist.”

“The love connection?”

“N… not really. I… I gave her an amulet. One that binds her energy to mine. It’s like a bond. Not the same as a true mate bond, not like the one my foremother forged but close. The amulet was meant to sharpen her Alpha instinct, to keep us tethered. But now… I can’t feel it.”

He studied me for a while before asking quietly.

“How long has it been broken?”

“Since last night.” I muttered, leaning back, sighing heavily. “I didn’t think much of it at first since she was here with me but this morning she… she acted strange. And then she left for… for him. Her ex. I don’t…”

I buried my face into my palms, trying to calm myself, to keep from snapping, to keep from drowning in possessiveness.

I told myself to breathe, to be rational but I couldn’t. This was Zephyrine. My woman. The only part of me I could never be selfless about.

“I don’t want to choke her with my jealousy. I don’t want her to feel caged. I don’t want to be that man.” I looked up at him, and he could see the pain written all over me. “But gods, I want her back. I can’t stand knowing she’s anywhere but here or her pack. Not with him. And I swear, I’m running out of patience. I don’t know what to do.”

Hades was silent for a long moment before he exhaled, gaze steady,

“You think I’m too much?” I asked quietly.

He shook his head.

“I will never find fault in you, little brother. Good or bad, right or wrong, you’ll always be right in my eyes.”

“So what should I do?” I pressed, but before he could answer, the sound of my uncle’s voice rang from downstairs.

“Your Majesty! Your Majesty!”

I nearly rolled my eyes in exhaustion. Hades sighed with me, then quietly followed as I rose from the chair. Together, we descended the stairs into the dining hall.

My uncle Dareth was waiting with the elders.

“You are not in the meeting hall today, Your Majesty. Reports are piling up. You are needed.”

I said nothing. My mind was nowhere near statecraft. If I sat through reports now, I would sign something I shouldn’t.

“I am not well,” I muttered at last, leaning on the table. “Tomorrow.”

My uncle frowned but didn’t move. One of the elders cleared his throat, ready to speak.

“You are not usually well, Your Majesty. Should Baron…”

99

“No.” My Beta cut him off sharply as he entered the hall. The incident of what had happened that day still fresh in his mmd. “We wait for his Majesty.”

The elder swallowed, his face paling. The orror of that morning’s tension still lingering. He bowed, then spoke again.

“All reports will wait for his Majesty’s approval. We’ll deal with lesser matters in the meantime.”

I inclined my head in thanks, and they filed out. I swallowed hard, trying to hold myself steady. Just then, a maid entered, bowing low.

“Your Majesty… someone is here to see Lady Zephyrine.”

My brows rose.

“Someone?”

“Yes, my King. She hosted your parties.”

Her best friend.

“Let her in,” I said at once, glancing at Hades, who watched curiously. “She’s Zephyrine’s closest friend.”

It didn’t take long. She walked in and paused a few paces away, bowing.

“Your Majesty,” she greeted, glancing at Hades, then back at me. “Is Zephyr here?”

I paused, then shook my

head.

“She told me she needed to go to Hue Pack. Said she’d be back by afternoon, but she hasn’t returned yet. I don’t want to panic.”

The woman froze at my words, her expression going pale. Her voice dropped low.

“Why… why would Zephyr go to Hue Pack? She has no business there.”

“She told you she was going there when she left?” I asked.

She shook her head.

“We spoke about her ring. Her engagement to you. Then she said she’d return your horse and check on Luna Tahlia. She promised she’d be back in a day or two. If anything urgent came up, she said we should send a fast rider. Zephyr has no reason to see Nyroth. None. I have a bad feeling about this.”

I swallowed hard, trying to contain myself.

“Why?”

“I don’t know. I could be wrong, but… after Nyroth came to Ash Pack yesterday, she was… different. Normally she cries under her burdens, but this time it was something else. I…”

“Something’s wrong,” I cut in, my voice low. My chest felt tight.

Last night she’d cried again. Out of some strange, stabbing pain. This morning, she woke

calling his name. His name.

“Maybe a spell?” Hades suggested softly.

And suddenly it clicked. The amulet around her neck… It wasn’t mine.

Back Where 243

“Destroy the amulet necklace Apex gifted her. Break the connection completely between them. That way, she will never remember him even if she sees him… unless the love she has for him is beyond heaven’s will and hell’s rage, which I seriously doubt.” Lady Sylvara’s words echoed in my mind, and I had done it.

After I stole it and exchanged it with the one Lady Sylvara had given me, I destroyed the true one that Apex had clasped around Zeph’s neck.

Earlier today, something happened that went beyond my understanding and everything I thought I stood for. She coughed out blood.

That made me begin to doubt the whole amulet and the idea of forced love. It was as though her body itself, her very soul, was convulsing, battling against the spell that bound her to me.

She had passed out since then and hadn’t woken. Staring at her sleeping form on my bed, I realized one tangible truth.

She had never slept this peacefully here before. Instead, she had loved the small, damp room across the hall, the one I had cruelly dumped her into.

My heart ached for it. For her. For the way I had treated her so badly, so meanly, like she was nothing. I regretted it all. If only she could give me her heart again, I would be everything and more than Apex could ever be.

How could I prove I loved her? How could I keep her not by force, but by her own will?

Those questions gnawed at me as the sky rumbled again. I looked up toward the window and saw the clouds still gathering.

It seemed the rain would fall tonight, and I wondered what it would bring. Chaos or bliss.

She had carried the scent of Lycans when she arrived, which meant she had spent the night with him. Would he come here to take her? No. He wouldn’t dare.

The door opened softly, and my mother appeared in the doorway. She paused a moment, then stepped further inside.

“Is she still asleep?” she asked quietly.

“She isn’t sleeping, Mother. She’s passed out. Unconscious. I don’t know what’s wrong with her.

Lady Sylvara never told me she would cough blood. Is this how she will be all the time?” My voice broke with panic before I realized it, until my mother asked me one sharp question.

“Would you rather let her go to Apex, then?”

That question pierced my mind and sparked anger and possession. I reached for Zeph’s hand instinctively, giving it a firm squeeze.

“She is mine, Mother. No one else’s.”

No sooner had the words left me than she stirred. Slowly, she fluttered her eyes open. I went still, moving closer, waiting for any reaction.

Her eyes widened, blinking as if trying to remember where she was and how she had here.

gotten

Then she turned to me, and I swear I forgot how to breathe. Those eyes, so beautiful, fixed on me, and against all odds, she smiled.

Whatever sorrow and hardship I had carried all my life vanished in that instant. She looked at me as though she loved me, and I would give anything for this every single day.

“Zeph?” I called softly, my palm lifting to her cheek, cautious, praying she would not pull away. To crown it all, she smiled brighter.

“Nyroth.”

I turned to my mother in awe, and in response she rushed forward to ask Zeph tenderly,

“My dear, how do you feel now? Any pain?”

Zeph went quiet for a moment, testing her body. Then she shook her head.

“I feel fine. Totally.” She looked back at me and sighed. “What’s wrong? Why do you look so surprised?”

“Uh… me?” I stammered, climbing onto the bed to sit beside her. My mother, unable to contain her delight, said brightly,

“I will leave you both to yourselves.”

She gave me the signal, and I swallowed hard. Then she departed, closing the door softly behind her.

I shifted my gaze back to Zeph, and she was still staring at me, full of attention and, to my

shock, with the same wanting she once had, the one I had been so foolish to reject.

“Zeph,” I whispered desperately, lowering myself onto her, my palm cupping her cheek.

I glanced at her lips, and she waited for me, her eyes fluttering closed. Emotions swirled inside me as I lowered my lips toward hers, almost scaling the moment when suddenly the sound of my pack’s gate slammed open, making me shudder.

I frowned immediately, rage bubbling. Who would dare barge into my pack this way, to interrupt such a moment? Whoever it was would pay with their life.

“What’s wrong?” I heard Zeph murmur as she opened her eyes to look at me again. I dipped lower, my lips brushing her neck, but then came the crash of my guards being hurled against walls, and I froze.

Wait. Who is here?

I rushed from the bed to the window. A bolt of lightning split the sky, and in the white blaze, his form appeared.

Apex Blood.

He was here. For her.

I staggered backward in shock, my heart slamming against my chest. If he was here, what could he do? Zeph was mine. Clearly in love with me now. Wasn’t she? This update is available on FindN()vel.net

I turned back to the bed. She was sitting up, confusion in her eyes. Then she walked slowly to the window, and when her gaze fell on the King standing beside his powerful black horse, she froze.

Her eyes changed. In that instant, I saw it clearly. Her soul might have been stolen by me with a spell, but Apex Blood owned it entirely through love.

I could not lose her. Not now. Not to him.

With him watching below, I moved behind her, unzipping her dress to bare her shoulders, pressing my lips against her skin and by the gods, that was the most fatal mistake I ever made.

Back Where 244

Blinking through the haze, I felt warmth spread in my chest when my gaze locked with his down there.

But behind me stood yet another obstacle, a man I could not push away, bound as I was by the spell that chained me.

I choked at the reality, lowering my gaze to fight the endless tug of war in my life, only to be snapped back to myself.

Jump.

That was the mind–linked voice that thundered in my heart.

I fluttered my eyes open, just as the sky parted, and heavy rain poured down. He stood there, his gaze fixed on me, and as if under his own enchantment, I reached for the window and leapt. I didn’t care. I trusted him with all my heart.

I landed perfectly in his powerful arms, my hands circling his neck as he held me tight. My body surged with force and emotion, making me remember what I had forgotten in the haze. In the dark.

“Zephyr!” The voice of Dessyn came just as the carriage screeched to a halt. Slowly, Lycannar set me down on my feet, and I turned to her. My best friend stared at me in horror.

“My gods! Are you okay?” she gasped. Before I could answer, the main doors burst open. Nyroth came storming out with his Beta at his side.

His mother and Olivia followed quickly, rushing into the rain as the rest of the pack gathered, watching in awe at the scene that had brought Apex Blood into their midst.

“Come back here, Zeph!” Nyroth snapped, his hand closing around my wrist as he pulled me away from Lycannar just as thunder roared and rain poured harder. “She is mine. You are mine, Zeph. No one else’s.”

The words unsettled me, but I couldn’t resist them. The emotions I had felt when I looked at Lycannar began to fade. I moved into Nyroth’s chest under the eyes of all, as though to make a choice.

“You do not belong to Nyroth, Zeph! What are you doing?!” Dessyn cried, her voice cutting through the storm. “Zephyr, snap out of it. You love the Lycan King, not Nyroth!”

16:16 Sat, Sep 27

Confusion tore through me. I knew I didn’t belong in Nyroth’s hands, but something bound me, holding me back. I stood still, then slowly met the gaze of the Lycan King before me. He didn’t speak. He only looked at me in another man’s arms, then lifted his gaze to mine.

And I felt it. The ache.

“Lycan,” I breathed in awe. In reply, he extended his hand toward me.

“Come here.”

Agonizing pain ripped through my chest when I tried to move. The same pain that had made me cough blood seized me now, choking me as I fought against it.

“Lycan,” I whispered desperately, and he nodded, encouraging me.

“You can break it yourself, Zephyrine. It’s the necklace around your neck. It will hurt, but I am here. You do not belong here. Not to him. Let me take you back home and keep you warm. Please.” His voice was desperate, unlike I had ever heard it before.

“Zeph, you won’t listen to him, will you?” Nyroth cut in sharply, halting me. “He is cursed. Would you truly choose a man like that?”

“Zeph, come back here,” Pamela pleaded, her voice heavy. “We know we wronged you, but please… give us a chance to make amends. Do not pull that necklace off. Nyroth is your first love. Let’s return as one family.”

My heart stilled. My senses dulled. They were right. Lycannar and I could never be a match. He was a Lycan. I was a wolf. Maybe Nyroth was where I belonged. My hands dropped at my sides, ready to accept him…

But then it surged. A force hotter than any word could describe.

A spell might bind me to Nyroth, but Lycannar’s eyes reached deeper into my soul than anything else ever could.

Against the pain tearing through me, I reached for the necklace. With one jerk, I ripped it from my neck and flung it to the ground.

The impact shattered the spell. My body trembled, collapsing as I sank back into myself.

Lycannar was swift. He caught me before I hit the ground, gathering me in his arms under the storm. I clutched at his collar, shuddering.

“Lycan…” I whispered, guilt weighing heavy in my heart. Guilt for dragging him into another storm. Another problem.

I buried my face against his chest as he kissed my hair, then pulled me gently to my feet, holding me close.

“Can you stand?” he asked, and I nodded weakly, my gaze darting to Dessyn. At once, I rushed into her arms. But leaving Lycannar free was a mistake.

In a blur, he was upon Nyroth, gripping him by the throat before the Alpha could blink. With inhuman speed, Lycannar slammed him against the wall, choking him hard.

“Lycan!” I screamed, horrified. But my man was beyond reason.

His eyes burned, shifting from pale gold to storm–grey. His voice was raw, acidic.

“Touch my woman again, and I swear on the crown I wear, you will pay with your life.”

He released Nyroth, shoving him down roughly. The Alpha collapsed to the ground, coughing and gasping for breath. Pamela froze in terror. One wrong move, and her son would have been dead.

I trembled at the sheer force Lycannar wielded. And yet, when he turned back to me, his rage melted. His eyes softened. He carried me to Dessyn’s carriage, placing me carefully inside.

With the carraige I have ride into Hue pack as well, it moves.

As the wheels rolled forward, Lycannar mounted his black horse and rode alongside us, through the storm, back toward the Lycan Kingdom.

And in that moment, our love was solidified. Not only pure, but beyond the reach of any spell.

Back Where 245

The carriage wheels rolled to a stop in the courtyard, but Lycannar’s horse galloped straight into the royal stable.

For heart–stopping seconds, I thought about what would have happened between Nyroth and me if Lycannar hadn’t come in time.

We would have kissed. We would have made love. My gods.

“Let’s get inside now,” Dessyn’s voice came from beside me, pulling me out of my thoughts. I turned to her. “You’re safe now. Let’s go in. Though…” She sighed softly. “I can tell Apex is furious.”

Her last words clenched my heart. I stepped down under the rain and hurried into the hallway.

By the time I entered the dining hall, Lycannar was walking in from the other side. His sisters were there, and his elder brother too, waiting.

The moment I saw them, I rushed into his sisters‘ arms.

“Are you okay?” Princess Mearez asked immediately.

I nodded, pulling back with a shaky sigh.

“I was lost… but I’m fine now.” I muttered the words, assuring myself as much as her.

Princess Seena pulled me into another hug.

“My gods. When I heard, I couldn’t even wrap my head around it.” She pulled back to search my eyes. “But doesn’t an Ashmere resist spells naturally?”

I smiled weakly.

“We’re only good at wars,” I answered quietly.

At that moment, Lycannar entered, bypassing everyone in silence as he headed for his tower. My stomach dropped. I knew I was in for a scolding.

I turned to see Luna Tahlia walking in. I reached for her hand, and she searched my eyes, then smiled knowingly.

“This is you. Truly.”

I looked at Dessyn, who gave me a small nod.

“I’ll stay with the princesses. You should go.”

I swallowed hard and turned toward the black tower that suddenly felt more menacing than ever. What would I find there? ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ find⦿novel.net

Carefully, I took the stairs after bidding everyone good night. The hallway was silent except for the trail of water leading into the living room.

Quietly, I followed it and reached Lycannar’s chamber doorway. He stood there, peeling off his wet clothes. My heart clenched at the sight.

I swallowed and stepped inside, stopping a few steps away as I watched him pull off his shirt. He slid the forearm braces from his wrists, then kicked off his boots.

“Lycan?” I finally called.

He paused, turning to me, his gaze settling heavy and silent.

“Lycan, I’m sorry. I know I was supposed to be careful, and…”

“I will kill him.” His voice cut sharp, as if carved in stone. My breath caught. He wasn’t joking. I saw it in his eyes. “I’ll kill him the next time he dares lay hands on you. I swear it.”

I bit my lower lip at the vow in his voice. He wasn’t threatening. He was promising.

He reached for a towel to dry his hair, but I couldn’t bear his silence anymore. I closed the distance and threw myself into his arms.

“I’m sorry… sorry I dared forget you, even for a moment.” My gaze searched his, pleading. “The necklace you gave me…”

99

“He destroyed it,” Lycannar muttered, his eyes dark. “I can feel it.”

“Can’t you make another one?”

He shook his head, leaning close until his breath brushed over my lips.

“Such an amulet is made once in a lifetime. It can’t be remade.”

My heart ached at his words, but when his lips brushed mine, sorrow melted away. I kissed him back, surrendering to the arms of the one I truly belonged to.His hands gripped my waist, heat flaring instantly between us. Then he turned me around and bent me over the table, his hard cock pressing against me.

I gasped as he pulled up my gown, bending me lower to strip me down. In slow, deliberate movements, he lubricated the tip and eased into my anus, stretching me with aching patience.

I gripped the table’s edge, a groan slipping from my lips as he filled me.

“Lycan…” I moaned his name, trembling as he pressed deeper, expanding me with his length.

Then he began. At first, his movements were slow, careful, almost tender. But soon, they turned wild. It was as if he remembered everything that had happened and wanted to claim me, mark me with every thrust.

He fucked me hard, then pulled out to flip me around. Breathless, lips bruised from his kiss, I let him push me down onto the bed.

He climbed over me, easing back inside my anus, kneeling between my legs.

His thumb found my clitoris, not teasing, not stroking, just holding it with pressure, grounding me as his thrusts came relentless.

I cried out, squirting as his rhythm consumed me. Moments later, he came hard, spilling deep inside me.

The world blurred. The storm outside disappeared. All that remained was us.

When he came down, I collapsed against him, hugging him tightly as if I’d die without his warmth. He buried his face into me, clinging like I was his salvation.

And maybe, in a way, I was.
