Ch. 256..260: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 256-260

Back Where 256

It’s unusually quiet tonight as I stood at the window, my gaze falling down to see he has already gotten them ready. The great white horse Lycannar had given to me.

The white carriage Lycannar had presented as well. Both of them, gifts he offered me after our first night together as lovers.

I turned away and swallowed hard. That wasn’t the only present he gave me that night.

After we made love, he had introduced me to his family, gifted me a horse and carriage, and entrusted me with a personal maid who loved and cherished me. But now… now I must return them all.

My eyes slowly roamed around my bed chamber and fell on the robe hung up against the wall. That white great robe with the Lycan crest, made to fit me perfectly.

And finally, those rings. The rings that once made me one of the happiest women alive. I swallowed down the bile in my throat just as the sound of approaching footsteps reached me.

I turned slowly as the door opened and Blue stepped in. Her head bowed before me, then she straightened, looking at me with that innocent humility that always pierced through me. My heart ached knowing she was about to be sent away.

But I was quick to blink back tears. I lowered my gaze to my fingers and slipped off the two rings Lycannar had given me. The first as a gift, the second when he proposed marriage.

I placed them carefully into the chest I had prepared. Then I walked to the robe, pulled it down from its rack, folded it neatly, and placed it in the chest as well.

At last, I looked at them one final time, my chest tight with grief. Shakily, I closed the lid and shivered in silence. Silence, and nothing but silence.

He had told me once not to forget the good times we shared. He had told me he loved me. It… it was almost as though he had known this moment would come. As though he knew the truth, and never told me.

I bit my lower lip and turned toward Blue, unable to meet her eyes.

“A guard will escort you on your journey back to the Lycan Kingdom. Take the chest with you. The horse will follow. Ride in the carriage. Give them all back to your King and remain there.” My voice cracked, but I forced the words. Without waiting for her response, I climbed onto the

bed and pulled the blanket over myself.

But I had to pause because she didn’t move. She stood there, frozen. That made me lift my gaze and see her staring at me with that same expression that only deepened my guilt.

“My lady…” she whispered, stepping forward before dropping to her knees before me. I turned my face away, trembling.

“My lady?”

“Go, Blue. You’ve served me enough. Just go.”

Silence fell between us. No response. It rattled me more than words would have. Then she spoke again, her voice breaking.

“My lady?”

I bit down on my lip as I turned to her, my own lips trembling. I shattered before her, and she broke into tears. Shaking her head, she whispered through sobs,

“I don’t want to go. Don’t send me away.”

Her plea tore me apart.

“Lycannar kept secrets from me. You’re one of his people. You share his blood. He is your king. When I see you… I see him. That’s why you have to go.”

“Are

you sure, my lady?” she asked softly, her eyes searching mine. “Are you sure you’re sending me away just because I remind you of him?”

“What?” I whispered.

“Are you

certain that if I leave, you’ll be able to forget him?” Her words struck like lightning. Goosebumps rose on my skin. “You love him. No matter what they say, you will never forget him. Even if you return his gifts, even if I leave, you will always…”

“Who said I wanted to forget him?” I snapped, my voice shaking as tears spilled freely. “He is the love of my life and I love him. I was honest with him, open to him. And what did I get in return?”

“My lady…”

“You will leave tonight,” I forced out, choking on my own sobs. “And you return here. Do you understand me?”

there. Do not

She didn’t answer right away. Instead, she reached for my hand and caressed it gently.

“My lady… there is something you should know. My king… he isn’t always himself. Sometimes, he…‘

The door suddenly flung open, and my brother stormed in with two guards. They seized Blue

at once.

“My lady!” she cried; struggling as they pinned her.

“Throw her out of the pack!” Varyn’s command thundered through the chamber.

Horror crashed over me.

“Let her go,” I murmured weakly, almost to myself. But the sight of them forcing her down so harshly made my blood run cold. “Let her go!”

My voice snapped loud, and the guards faltered, hesitating at once. I shook violently, stunned at the horror rising in my heart. This is what I feared. Werewolves venting their hatred for Lycannar onto the Lycans themselves.

Slowly, I turned to my brother. He had given that order, and I knew he was the one feeding them with hate. I swallowed hard as I held his gaze. For original chapters go to fındnovel.net

“She will walk on her own, Varyn. No one touches her.”

It was a challenge, and the tension between us sparked like fire. At last, he gave a curt nod and gestured to the guards. They released her and backed away, bowing before leaving the chamber.

My lips trembled as Varyn’s gaze burned into me, heavy and knowing.

Leave, Blue. Now,” I whispered, dismissive, knowing his patience was thin.

She hesitated, as expected, but finally obeyed. Her sobs faded with the sound of her steps, until the chest scraped away and the echo of the massive Ash Pack gate opening filled the night. Then came the sound of hooves and wheels.

Fear gripped me. Emptiness swallowed me whole. Sadness sat heavily in my heart, and though I tried to gulp it down, I failed. The tears spilled silently, then broke into sobs, until pain itself shredded out of me.

My brother walked up, pulled me into his arms, and I buried my face in his chest, crying all my sorrow out. But the more I let out, the heavier the pain became.

Nothing. Nothing I see… brings peace anymore. I had expected it, and now that it is here, nothing terrifies me more than this.

The isolation. The sudden… loneliness. As if she doesn’t exist, as if the love between us… never happened in the first place.

Standing in the corridor of my kingdom, in the Blacktower, I can only gaze at the massive gates and the walls beyond my territory. I await her.

Questions I will answer. Words I will give with the truest heart. A bow I will make without caring about my status. A promise I will speak without hesitation.

But she did not come. No. Instead, I heard whispers. Different words. That she is locked in her chamber, more prisoner than Alpha of her pack.

Her brother controls everything, and he is a very, very, very smart man who knows the pros and cons of every situation.

What’s worse is… I can’t hurt him. I can’t take him out of the way. Even if he poisoned all and sundry against me, I must never touch a single hair on his head. Why?

Simply because he is the older brother of the woman I love.

Heartache has slept and woken with me since her farewell that day. My sisters have been on

toe, and my brother Hades has been supportive, standing solidly behind me. But I couldn’t

She stood beside the carriage, slowly lifting her eyes toward me, and my entire body went cold. Literally cold.

“Come in,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper, but I knew she heard. Obediently, she made her way inside.

After she disappeared through the entrance, dread welled up in my heart. I glanced at the carriage again, then the horse, before I moved, descending the stairs, down to the dining hall where she stood with the chest in her hands.

My eyes fixed on the chest first… before flicking up to her face. The torn shoulder of her dress froze me in place, and before I could speak, hurried footsteps echoed and my sisters burst in.

“What happened? Blue?” Serena asked, while Maerez walked forward, her eyes wide with

worry.

“Blue?”

She sniffed back her tears, then placed the chest carefully on the table and pushed it gently toward me before bowing.

“My lady asked me to deliver this to you.”

Hearing that pinned me, rooted me where I stood.

“Are you hurt?” I asked, my voice rough but firm. She looked at me briefly before lowering her

gaze.

“No, my King.”

Those words struck deep just as my brother walked into the hall too. The tension rose immediately, heavy and sharp, as he leaned on the wall at the doorway.

I dropped my gaze to the chest, unable to look away. Slowly, I reached forward and lifted the lid. My eyes caught them at once, my rings.

The very rings that made her mine. My hand shook as I reached for the one I had proposed with, forged from black quartz of the demon realm and Lycan Kingdom pure gold, bound together with a drop of my blood to make it sacred.

“How is she?” The question escaped me, low, almost voiceless.

No answer came at first. Then Blue lifted her gaze to me, her eyes brimming until tears spilled

down her face.

“She cries every day,” she whispered. “She won’t eat her meals. Her brother isolates her, and we are ordered to never speak to her unless absolutely necessary. She… never recovers. She’s slowly losing her sanity, her valor, her very self.”

I choked, the weight crushing me. Harder than ever now. I looked away and swallowed painfully. I broke her. I… I broke her.

“Go back.” My voice cracked as I pressed the ring I proposed with into Blue’s hand. “Go back and give this to her. Tell her I will accept any punishment but not this one. Tell her she’s mine, and I’m hers, and I won’t let anyone take that away. If she wants to break up, she should come here and say it to my face.”

Blue stared at me, daring to hold my gaze, her tears sliding again. Then she bowed, clutching the ring, and turned to leave. Once more she rode back to Ash Pack.

“Chantel, have a guard escort her to the Ash Pack gate and return immediately,” I ordered my bodyguard, who lingered in the shadows.

The command was obeyed, and soon the sound of the gates opening and closing echoed through my halls, signaling Blue’s departure. Fresh chapters posted on Find~Novel.net

I stared at the arrival of the Imperium Council messenger who galloped into Ash Pack that cloudy afternoon.

He dismounted sharply and bowed with deep respect toward the entrance, and I swallowed when I saw he bore a sealed scroll.

All onlookers froze, their attention fixed on him. Then he came out, my brother. Varyn. He walked forward to stand before the messenger, who extended the scroll with utmost reverence, his forearm outstretched, his head lowered.

My brother accepted the scroll delivered from the Wolf Fortress. The messenger bowed again, this time so low his head touched the ground, before mounting his horse and riding away sharply.

There I stood, swallowing hard. A scroll delivered with such ceremony, under a clouded sky, from the Imperium Council, it meant something sacred.

I watched as my brother held onto it, then slowly turned his gaze upward, toward the window of my bedchamber. Our eyes met, and a chill ran down my spine. Varyn.

He dropped his gaze and walked inside. For what felt like an eternity I couldn’t breathe. I felt… empty.

I was not allowed outside anymore, and it had gradually become the norm. Blue had left, and Isolde now handled everything completely. Yet never have I felt so… empty.

I was still standing when the sound of my door opening came. I felt his gaze on me even before I turned. My brother.

He searched my eyes in silence, then extended the scroll to me. I stared at it for a long moment before walking toward him and taking it.

Gently, I moved to the chair and sat, breaking the seal to read.

‘By the command of the Imperial Council, Varyn Ashmere, the true son of late Warlord Vale, will stand at attention on the third day of full moon to be crowned the new Werewolf Warlord, and he will lead the Ashmere Armies to victory.

It was great news. I was not born when my father was crowned a warlord, but I had heard the stories of how excited everyone had been, how they threw parties and drank all night.

But… for Varyn? Why did I feel more fear than excitement? Why did I feel this position was offered only to pull him to the Council’s side rather than pay for what they had done to the Ashmeres? As though t buy him off?

“Today,” Varyn said as he moved toward the chair opposite me, “I received a letter from Moonveil Fortress.”

I lifted my eyes to him as he continued.

“Thousands of soldiers are ready to answer one order from us, Zephyr. Every werewolf in every pack is on our side after hearing that our father, the werewolf warlord was slain unjustly by Apex’s claws. They all want justice, just as we do. We are stronger than before, and when we make the attack… we will win. This time, we will be victorious.”

Hearing him say those words made my chest tighten. I hadn’t realized I was already panicking until he reached for my hand and gave it a tender squeeze, his eyes never leaving mine.

Attack… where?

That was the only question burning in my mind when the sound of gates opening and closing echoed.

A scent hit my nostrils, the scent of a Lycan. Varyn caught it too. His expression darkened as he moved to the window, a dangerous smirk curling on his lips.

“I suppose Apex has decided to declare war openly now.”

I froze where I sat, dread spreading through me. Footsteps approached, and the door opened. I turned toward it, and there stood Blue, holding unto a ring and a book that looks more like an old diary.

One look at her eyes told me she hadn’t rested. She had traveled all night to get here. Slowly, she walked forward and bowed. When she straightened, she extended the ring Lycannar had proposed with.

My heart thudded painfully at the sight of it. Even more when she spoke.

“My king said he will accept any punishment, but not this one. He said you are his, and he is yours, and no one will take that away. He said if you truly want a break up, then you must come to his kingdom and say it to his face.”

The audacity. The boldness of those words. My brother lost it. He stormed toward the exit, but I shot

When he reached me, his palm came up, caressing my cheek with a tender pressure that forced

my gaze into his.

“A carriage will be ready tonight. You will return immediately after putting him in his place.” His voice was soft, almost coaxing. I nodded, though my heart raced.

“You put him in his place, Zephyr. He is an enemy. Our enemy. You understand…?”

I searched Varyn’s eyes before choking back a sob as the tears fell.

“Yes,” I whispered. “I understand.”

Pressure upon pressure after the resurrection of Varyn Ashmere. He rose like a phoenix, and now he burns with vengeance. That fire in his eyes, I know if none of us are careful, we’ll all be caught in its blaze.

Days had passed since the shattering truth left Zeph literally pale, and still I can’t fathom how and why she loved Apex.

“Varyn Ashmere,” they called his name when he walked into the Wolf Fortress. He silenced every lip with his mere presence. That same presence still gives me goosebumps to this day.

They had said he was dying, sick, enslaved for years in Blackwster, but I beg to differ. The man who now stood solidly before us was not one who had suffered, and if he had, then whoever healed him, whoever brewed the potion he drank, was no ordinary soul.

My thoughts fell to the Blood family. The Lycans. I wondered again, even after that day, if this is fate. Is it truly fate? Everything that has happened, was it written?

I have seen what the love between Zeph and Apex can do. It is beyond me, beyond every spell I used to bind her soul to mine. And after that terrifying confrontation with him, I realized Apex is much more than the Lycan he pretends to be.

should all have been suspicious when he locked himself away in the Black Tower for years. ly thought him strange. But now, hearing he has fangs, that he could slay an entire rewolf warlord, I know it is true.

Apex once gripped my neck, and I could have died had I tried to fight back. He is… a beast.

I sighed shakily as the carriage made its way toward my pack. Instead of rest, Alphas and Betas had been summoned to endless meetings about how we would proceed, how we would support our fallen warlord who had been unjustly killed by the Lycan King. I was the first to attend.

I have great hatred and vengeance against Apex personally, and as though the Moon Goddess favored cruelty, she made Varyn Ashmere hate him even more than I. Now I know for certain, Zeph will not have him. Apex will never have her.

But thinking further, I had to swallow at the dark political squeeze that had unfolded. Just like that, the Imperium Council, those who had sent the Ashmeres to war unfairly, now begged forgiveness, and were willing to crown Varyn as the next warlord to indirectly ask for

forgiveness.

Kaela Yadev, the most shrewd of all, twisted the blade deeper. She went on her knees before everyone and hijacked the Blackbridge Pack from Luna Tahlia once again with a deceitful, ugly truth. Whether or not she is pregnant is none of my concern.

All I want is to see the Lycan Kingdom in ruins, just as Varyn Ashmere desires. I swallowed hard, wondering what it would be like to stand before him now. I was the one who collected the money for their parents‘ compensation. Would I also be punished by him?

I shook my head suddenly, swallowing harder. No. I will stand by his side now, and I will give him anything.

Those thoughts pressed into me as the carriage finally rolled into my pack. I turned to the side of the path and there he was again.

The young man who lingered behind, staring at me without blinking. The one I had seen at White Pack. He claimed he only came to check on his sister, not to follow me, as I thought before.

I swallowed at his presence as the carriage passed him and stopped in my courtyard. I blinked, then alighted, pausing mid–step.

That night, when he said he came to see his sister at White Pack, I had wondered who this so- called sister was. Clearly not Dessyn since she had only one brother.

I went still. Slowly, I retraced my steps, walking toward where he stood, as though waiting.

He was younger, powerful, fire burning in his eyes. He had only appeared briefly before, but now… he caught my attention fully.

“Who are you?” I asked without delay. His eyes flickered up to meet mine, then he replied…

“I am Gaxib.”

Hearing that name made me swallow hard. It felt heavy. Gaxib.

“Why are you here?” I pressed, my gaze fixed on him. But he didn’t answer. He only stared again at me. Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn find~novel~net

Then the sound of hooves broke the silence. A rider galloped in on a powerful white horse, the kind only Ashmeres owned.

“Alpha Nyroth,” the messenger said firmly, looking at me. “Lord Varyn asked for your presence immediately.”

At that, a cold chill ran down my spine.

Chapter

Varyn Ashmere? Why did he…

“I can tell you the Lycan King’s weaknesses.”

The voice of Gaxib cut through my thoughts, forcing me to look back at him.

“I will help you take him down. I can.”

And with that, he turned and walked away, leaving me stunned with an offer that felt almost like a dream.

Zephyrine

My carriage was ready at night just as my brother had promised, and I arrived out there in the open only to attract eyes and attention with my presence.

I stood under the dark sky, dressed in a long flowing gown and a fur cloak with the crest of my powerful pack.

Guards followed, too heavily, but I knew I had no choice. My brother might get suspicious if I appeared without them. I stared silently into the night, and gently I felt her gaze. Dessyn’s.

Slowly, I turned towards the window of Varyn’s bedchamber and saw her standing there, her eyes fixed on me.

Somehow, I could feel her depression and desperation, but before we could connect or communicate, he appeared right behind her dominant, possessive.

Varyn.

In seconds, Dessyn lowered her gaze just as my brother’s hands circled her neck.

His palm tightened in a possessive grip before he kissed her lips, more like a warning than affection. Then he hugged her, forcing her back into his chest while his eyes pinned themselves on me.

His look was clear, like a warning, like an order for me to put Lycannar right in his place. He was entrusting me with a mission, one I could not afford to fail.

I turned away and was about to get into the carriage when another approaching carriage caught my eyes. The crest of Hue Pack carved on its frame.

A frown spread across my face as the carriage stopped and Nyroth stepped out. My brow arched in utter disbelief, and before I could process it, an Ash Pack messenger came riding in.

In that moment, I realized why Nyroth was here. No one would have summoned him except my brother, Varyn.

Swallowing hard as Nyroth was ushered into the hall, I climbed into my carriage with Blue, and the ride back to the Lycan Kingdom began, my heart aching all the while.

Blue still attended to me like a maid, though I didn’t want her service, yet she insisted.

I leaned in my seat, resting my head quietly, but sleep would not come. No peace had found me ever since I learned the truth.

The ride was long, but at last my carriage reached the massive gates of the Lycan Kingdom. And I swear, I felt it. The uneasiness. The ache. The pain. And the warmth that only his presence could bring.

The gigantic gate opened, and my carriage wheeled inside with the guards of my pack following. Blue alighted carefully, but I remained still, my gaze fixed on nothing, wondering how to hold myself together, how to face this.

“My lady,” Blue’s voice pulled me back, and I looked at her outstretched palm. For a moment, I just stared. Then, tenderly, I took it, allowing her to help me down.

And there I stood, under the night sky of the Lycan Kingdom, captivated by the intense gaze of the king himself.

From the tower corridor, he stared down at me, and I looked back. In silence, our eyes locked, until I forced myself to lower my gaze and move toward the hall.

Blue followed closely behind as we entered the dining hall, the same one that held beautiful memories. None bitter.

His sisters emerged soon after. They must have seen me arrive.

“Zephyrine…” Princess Mearez called softly. Our eyes met, and I felt like crying, but I swallowed the sobs and tried to stay strong. That was when footsteps echoed.

Him. Descending the stairs, step by step. Lycannar Blood.

He stopped a few steps away. I could not bring myself to look into his eyes. Instead, I stared at the empty space between us, silence stretching painfully. Discover more novels at find(ɴ)ovel.net

Then Hades entered too, leaning against the wall, silent as ever.

At last, I choked back the bile and reached for the ring I had come to return. Quietly, I set it on the table and turned to leave. But I should have known he would not let me go so easily.

In a flash, the air shifted. One moment he was across the hall, the next, he blocked my path.

“Zephyrine…” His voice called, that tone breaking my heart.

“I came to return the ring. I will take my leave now,” I murmured, refusing to meet his eyes. But he caught my wrist and pulled me back into him.

In his arms, I went numb. Completely numb.

“Zephyrine…” he whispered, but I couldn’t respond. Not like this. Tears welled in my eyes as I tried to pull away, but his hand rose gently to my chin, forcing my gaze to his.

There, I stared into his blurry eyes through my tears.

“Zephyrine…”

I took a step back, wiping my tears, and asked again.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

He only watched me, silent, his eyes soft in a way they never were for anyone else. And I broke.

The sob tore from me as I pushed him, raining punches against his chest. He didn’t fight back. He took it all, until I shoved him again and glared through my tears.

“Why didn’t you tell me?!” I snapped.

He swallowed hard, his gaze heavy with apology.

“I was scared.”

The word sounded foreign from his lips. I laughed bitterly, brokenly.

“Scared? You? The great Apex Blood, scared of me? A woman you never loved, a woman you slept with, ate with, bathed with, and still lied to?!”

“I didn’t lie to you, Zephyrine,” he said softly.

I struck his chest again and again until exhaustion overtook me. My body sank, but he caught me, held me up. I pushed him off, rejecting his touch, glaring through the blur.

“Do you have any idea what is going on out there?” I demanded. “Do you even know what the werewolves are saying about Apex Blood?! Do you, Lycannar, have any idea?”

I looked away, biting my lower lip at the cruel twist of politics. Then I faced him again.

“The Imperium Council twisted the truth and diverted attention. Kaela and those council members were ten steps ahead of me because you kept the truth hidden. If you had told me, I would’ve been prepared. But no! Now they’ve made you, the Lycannar Blood, the true villain.

They call you names I can’t even defend you against, because you weren’t honest with me.” My voice shook. “It’s over between us, Lycannar. My brother will never let me marry you. My kind hates your kind. And I can’t forgive you for hiding such a truth from me.”

I turned for the exit, but once more, his hand caught my wrist. I froze, my breath hitching as he held my gaze one last time.

“In two nights,” he said quietly, “I will be at the tavern where we had our first outing. I will wait for you.”

My chest clenched at his words, but I said nothing. Without another glance, I bypassed him, mounted one of the guards‘ horses, and left.

I abandoned the carriage he had gifted me. I abandoned Blue. And under the night sky, I galloped back to Ash Pack, my heart breaking with every beat.
