Ch. 66..70: The Rogue is a Female Alpha chapter 66-70
Back Where 66“No! Never! I am never letting my baby brother go anywhere. Mearez, why don’t you speak? Stop him!” Serena’s voice rang through the hall of my tower, but no one answered. No one paid any heed.
I was already dressed for the journey. There would be no hesitation. I felt no reluctance, no whisper in my mind telling me to stay. Nothing.
I reached for the potion on the table and drank the whole bottle. a medicine to dull my demon beasts. Then I turned toward the exit and stepped into the hallway.
My two elder sisters were waiting. Mearez stood quietly, still worried, still horrified at what had happened back at the White Pack. Serena, however, will have none of it when I announced I am going to the Empire’s Grove.
The moment she set eyes on me, she rushed forward to block my path. I stopped before her, my gaze locked on her angry face, the anger that barely masked her fear of losing her only younger brother.
“You can’t go anywhere, Lycannar. I refuse,” she said. I waited, knowing nothing more would come. “It’s the Empire’s Grove. You’ve only just healed from the illness she caused you. Will you still go… and die for her?”
The illness Zephyrine caused, the third curse from the Moon Goddess. I could see death, but I must not tell anyone how it would come. I had already broken that rule once when i informed Zephyrine how the Luna would die, and I had paid for it with seven days of immense agony.
Today, I had only just begun to recover, and I had rushed to her, only for her to collapse before me. I swallowed hard and turned to Serena.
I said nothing. That silence said everything, and she knew it. Her mask slipped, and slowly, tears welled in her eyes.
“Why is it that my opinion never matters to you, Lycannar?” she asked, her voice tired. Then she punched my chest, frustrated. “Why do you never take me seriously? Can’t I give you an order and expect you to follow it? Is it because you are a king now?“.
She turned to Mearez, who stood silently, lost in her own thoughts and turmoil.
“Mearez, he listens to you better. You should tell him going to the Empire’s Grove will get him killed! Those spells cast in the Black Tower weren’t just for show! He’s both dangerous and vulnerable the moment he leaves the kingdom. Can’t you tell him?!”
Mearez didn’t respond. Serena, frustrated, brushed her tears angrily and left the hall, making me swallow hard.
Silence fell. I shifted my gaze to Mearez, standing there. We had left the White Pack together, and it felt as though she already knew I would go on this quest.
I walked toward her gently, but she held out a hand to stop me. Without a word, she turned and left in silence.
I swallowed hard at their departure. For a moment, I wondered.

“After she gets cured, you should wreak havoc. Let them all know what’s what,” Hades’s voice came from behind me. I set my jaw.
He approached, dressed fully for his departure to the Demon Realm. Hands folded over his chest, unconcerned unlike my sisters.
“I know you will come back. Serena and Mearez know it too. They’re only worried about the pain you’ll endure in the Grove.”
I nodded silently.
“Where is my uncle, Ureh?” I asked quietly.
“At the exit. He is waiting for me at the portal. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help, little brother.”
I nodded, watching him descend the stairs and disappear from sight.
I turned to the other end of the hall and saw Chantel, ready for the journey too. I let out a heavy sigh and moved quickly to the stable where my horse awaited.
Mearez stood by her carriage, while Serena was nowhere in sight. I glanced toward her corridor but it was
empty. Check latest chapters at FindN0vel.net
I was about to walk to my horse when footsteps came. Serena appeared from the hall, a saddlebag in hand. Silently, she fixed it to my horse. When she finished, she turned, pressed her lips briefly to mine, and walked away without a word into Mearez carriage.
I swallowed hard. She was stubborn, masking her fear and frustration with anger.
I turned to the saddlebag but didn’t open it. Instead, I mounted my horse. I hadn’t told any other people about this journey.
Everything else could wait. I wouldn’t take more than one night outside the tower. I would be back before nightfall tomorrow. Sick or healthy, nothing would stop me.
Back Where 67
Seconds rolled into minutes, minutes folded into hours, and the sky, which had brightened earlier, faded into black.
Nyroth had promised he would return, but Lycannar… Lycannar hadn’t given me a word. He had left without a goodbye. He and his sister, and even I had begun to believe he’d do exactly what he had done days ago when I was called to the council.
I sat on my bed, my eyes fixed on the empty space in front of me. I haven’t found my brother yet, and the Ash Pack still needed an Alpha. Will I leave all that behind?
I was lost in thought when the door opened gently, and Blue walked in with a dinner tray, her eyes on me. To say she was worried about my health would be an understatement.
“It’s night, my lady. I’ve brought your dinner. Let me draw your bath. After that, you can…”
“Go out,” I cut her off, glaring at her, but the look in her eyes only softened, making me feel guilty instantly.
“My lady…”
I lowered my gaze and swallowed hard. She wouldn’t leave. It was as though her life meant nothing to her. I bit my lower lip and let out a sigh.
“Tell me a story,” I requested softly. “Any one. Just… go ahead and speak.”
Carefully, she placed my dinner on the table at the foot of the bed and came to sit on the floor beside me, as she used to. Then she began.
“Many years ago, in a kingdom isolated from the rest of the world, a prince was born. The midwives who attended his birth were killed immediately, and he was locked up in a tower that had been built for him.
“In isolation, he was abandoned as an infant, left to live alone. Everyone in that isolated Kingdom believed he would die but instead, voices were heard from the tower every night, cries of agony echoing through the
walls.
“One day, a mother of one ill son, who couldn’t bear the sound of the prince’s cries any longer, found courage and went to the King to make a request. ‘I will take care of the prince,‘ she said, ‘and ask for nothing in return.’
“The king drew his blade but did not strike. He allowed the woman to care for his son. She returned home at the end of each day, shaken and horrified, never speaking of what she saw in the tower. She refused to answer questions about it, only continuing her work, until the prince reached the age of fifteen. Latest content published on find⁂novel.net
“Then the king dismissed her with nothing, as agreed. But the prince had grown fond of her. He would come looking for her at her home; she would cook, and he would eat with gratitude, sitting among peasants and smiling.
“This continued in secret until the king found out. Enraged that his own son dared to laugh with peasants,

to chase happiness, he punished him. He gave the fifteen–year–old prince a sword and ordered him to slay the woman who had nurtured him.
“The prince wouldn’t do it. He hesitated. And in punishment, he was forced to watch his two sisters be abused, beaten, and tortured. When he could bear it no longer, he went to the woman himself and stabbed her repeatedly. Blood filled everywhere, and she died, leaving behind two children. A newborn baby and the ill son who suffered from epilepsy.”
A lump had formed in my throat, and I blinked quietly.
“What happened to the prince? His two sisters? And the children the woman left behind?”
Blue looked up into my eyes, blinking sadly.
“The prince believed he would never be happy again. So he slaughtered everyone in his path before he could
grow attached. He allowed his father, the king, to poison his mind.
“The prince’s two sisters grew up in an abusive home, tortured whenever the king demanded it. As for the children the woman left behind, her son died one day during a seizure. The baby, however, was cared for by the head of the Kingdom maids. She grew up to become a maid and she sits before you today, my lady.“.
Tears clouded Blue’s eyes and trailed down her cheeks.
“His Majesty suffered abuses and torments you could never imagine. It explains why he would only stare and not speak. His two sisters survived hell at the hands of our former king, their own father.”
I watched her bow her head to sniff, and when she looked back up, she smiled shakily.
“I had always wondered why the head of the maids had taken such special care of me. I never knew it was on His Majesty’s orders.
“Yes, he killed my mother, but I understand his situation. I love him, and I respect him. You may call me anything you want, but it won’t change how I feel for my King. When I was chosen to serve you, I knew I had to do my best. When he told me I should treat you well, I was determined to do just that.
“This illness you are passing through, the fear of me getting infected… I don’t care about it. You are the first woman my king has looked at and loved. You make him happy, and for this, I would die for you if need be. So please, my lady, don’t send me away. I won’t leave. We are in this together, come rain or shine, I will serve you until I breathe no more. Until my lifeless body is cremated and my ashes are scattered in the Lycan Kingdom Lake.”
Back Where 68
I stood at the window, my bath taken by my maid and my stomach fed. I was dressed in my nightgown, standing still as I watched him walk into White Pack, his horse beside him, moving in sync as always.
Then my eyes shifted to see Princess Mearez’s carriage stop in the courtyard. She stepped out, this time not alone. Her sister, Serena, also alighted, and together they walked into the house, while Lycannar was approached by Alpha Auedric.
I didn’t eavesdrop on their words, but I saw Lycannar nod, and together they walked inside.
Chantel, however, stood beside his own horse after dismounting, holding the reins of Lycannar’s horse in place.
I stared at him for a long moment in silence before lowering my gaze. The story that had been whispered into my ears seemed to carve something deep into my heart.
I was about to step away from the window when Nyroth mounted his horse and rode into White Pack, surprising me. I hurried back to watch him dismount.
He straightened, glanced briefly at Chantel, and then walked into the house.
“Where is Zeph?” Nyroth’s voice called urgently across the room.
“She is in the bedchamber,” I heard Dessyn reply, footsteps approaching. I turned as the door opened, and my mate stood in the doorway, staring at me.
“Zeph,” he said as he walked toward me, his eyes softening. “How do you feel?”
For the first time, he seemed tender, as if he truly cared. I lowered my gaze and frowned gently.
“I feel tired.”
“Then you should lie down,” he said quietly. Without waiting for my response, he pulled out a handkerchief and held it to his nose, surprising me.
“Oh, the handkerchief? My mom suggested it. Don’t worry about it,” he said. “Listen, I’ve come to tell you I’ll go to the Empire Grove to get the flower for your cure, but you’ll need to be strong, Zeph. Can you wait few days?”
I looked at him in confusion.
“Why?”
“Kaela… she has bad cramps. She wants me with her. You know she’s the daughter of an Alpha now, and I need to support her so our packs can trade. I’ll stay a few days. After she recovers… I’ll come to you. I’ll help you…”
The door opened at that moment, interrupting him. Lycannar, the prince who had become a king, the one abused by his father, cursed by the Moon Goddess, abandoned at birth in the prison we call his tower, entered.

His presence was formidable. And as strange as it sounds, just being near him filled me with immense relief.
“You shouldn’t be on your feet,” Lycannar said, taking my arm and guiding me to sit on the bed. He lowered to one knee before me, his palm cupping my neck tenderly.
When our eyes met, I saw his brows knit in awe. He noticed the tears welling in mine and frowned.
“Zephyrine,” he called softly, but I didn’t respond. Instead, I turned to Nyroth, my resolve firmer than ever.
“Go ahead, Nyroth. Stay with the woman you love and leave me to rot. But hear this. The moment I heal, I will arrive in Hue Pack to reject you. If you do not heed this, I will retaliate with war. I swear on my pack’s name.”
The last tears rolled down as I lowered my gaze, sniffling. He lingered a moment before departing. Latest content published on find✦novel.net
For a long while after he left, I simply sat, steadying myself. Finally, I lifted my gaze to Lycannar, and he sighed quietly.
My eyes roamed over his attire, the rings on his brow, his readiness. I knew he was on a quest, one even my own mate would never attempt.
“We both have our secrets and our pain,” I whispered softly, tiredly, “but I ask one thing. please, be honest. The Black Tower…. how long can you endure without being in it?”
“One night.”
“You will come back to me,” I said, more as a warning than a plea. “Tomorrow night, Lycannar. You must return. Do you understand?”
He searched my eyes in silence. Then, suddenly, he kissed me. I tugged him down to the bed, lying on him, our lips crushing together.
I loved being in his arms; I had no regrets. As I closed my eyes, I felt his hands around me protectively.
At last, he lay me on my back and looked down at my face, watching me breathe. Tenderly, he trailed his fingers along my lips.
“My sisters will stay here with you. Serena might be blunt, but she means well. Mearez will be gentle. You should listen to her. Your friend’s father says it’s okay if they stay.”
My heart felt heavy, but I nodded. I kissed his lips again and watched him stare at me a moment longer before moving to get up. I quickly held him down, my heart racing.
“Lycannar… I appreciate the maid you gave me. I know how much she means to you now, and I already love her.”
He didn’t speak. He only nodded and straightened. Just as he was about to leave, I called out again, panic in my voice.
“Lycannar… you are… the first man who kissed me and made love to me.”
He stared at me silently, expression calm, then walked to the bed and took my hand.
“I know,” he replied softly. “My beast can tell many things about you.”
“Like what?”
“That you’re scared to see me leave.” He searched my eyes again. “I’m not going to die.”

“I know you won’t,” I replied sadly, lowering my gaze. “You don’t seem like someone who’d die easily.”
He kissed me, whispering softly, “I will listen to your voice, remember your face, our kisses… your moans when I am losing myself in the Empire Grove.”
“And I will remember your gaze, your grace, your devotion, our kisses…” I kissed him once more, whispering, “and our time at the Black Tower when I nearly went mad waiting for you.”

One kiss on my temple, and he walked out. I didn’t realize I had been holding my breath until he left the bedchamber. I stayed still, wondering what he would endure, what he would suffer, before he came back to
me.
The bustle from the living room pulled me back. I/could perceive Alpha Auedric’s scent, and then Moon’s voice reached me.
“I’m going too. I’ll have my horse ready.”
I froze at his words. No. Moon couldn’t make the journey to the Empire Grove. He couldn’t…
“You won’t be stopping me, so save your breath.” I heard him snap at someone, followed by the sound of the door closing.
Hurriedly, I rushed to the window. I saw him walking into the night toward the pack’s stables, determination in every step. I sagged my shoulders. He wouldn’t back down now. Not ever.
I lowered my gaze, thinking hard about the situation. Lycannar, the one I had met just days ago, who is not my fated mate, is willing to endure hell for me.
Moon, for whom I’d never shown anything beyond sisterly affection, was ready to cross fire and blood to help me.
Yet my fated mate, the one chosen by the moon goddess, had decided he would stay with his crush rather than me, who was dying.
“The kingdom can wait. We’ll stay here overnight,” Princess Serena’s voice interrupted my thoughts, and I blinked to see them.
Lycannar and his two elder sisters had come outside to say farewell. From where I stood, it was obvious their bond was unshakable, something no one could break.
“I’ll be back tomorrow night. You both don’t need to worry,” Lycannar assured them. Meareż nodded stiffly.
“I’m more worried about how you’ll deal in the grove. I heard it tampered with people’s sanity.”
“And you are the god of traumas. You’ve had thousands of them growing up, baby brother,” Serena muttered. Lycannar didn’t respond. At that moment, Moon pulled up on his horse, waiting ahead.
“I should go,” the Lycan King said softly,
I expected him to kiss his sisters goodbye, but he didn’t. It was as though he didn’t want it to look like a final farewell. He walked toward his horse and expertly mounted it.
Before I could blink, he was galloping out of the pack, his ever–mysterious bodyguard Chantel keeping pace. Moon followed.
I let out a shaky sigh as they disappeared from view and I whispered a small prayer.

“I’ll pass on dinner tonight, Blue. I’m tired, so I’m going to bed,” Dessyn’s voice pulled me back to reality as she walked in.
I turned to see her acting as if nothing were wrong. She moved further in, preparing for bed, and I nearly rolled my eyes in exhaustion.
“Dessyn, you should leave. I don’t want you to get infected.”
“Save your breath, best friend. I am not Nyroth who is afraid despite being an Alpha.”
I swallowed hard at her dismissal, watching her change into her nightgown. As she climbed into bed, I couldn’t help myself.
“Dessyn, please…”
She paused, giving me her full attention, her eyes defiant, then shrugged.
“I’m not leaving you, Zephyr. We’re in everything together. You understand? If you’re worried about infection, Princess Mearez is here. She’ll cure me.”
No sooner had she spoken than the princesses stepped in. Mearez and Serena. Their presence felt almost too good to be true.
I took a step back, putting distance between us, and silence fell. Serena spoke first.
“My baby brother is such a thief. I can’t believe he bagged such a beautiful woman.”
“Lycannar isn’t that bad either,” Mearez replied with a smile, walking toward me and gently taking my elbow.
“Let’s get you to bed. You shouldn’t be standing.”
I pulled away, but she only smiled.
“It’s fine. The infection isn’t that lethal, and besides, my brother will bring back the cure. Everyone will drink the potion.”
I allowed her to help me into bed and watched as she wrapped me in a blanket. Serena walked to the mirror and sighed.
“Lycannar is sacrificing too much for a woman who isn’t his mate. He even stepped into this chamber which has a mirror without fear,”
“She’s worth everything, Serena,” Mearez replied quietly, then turned to me with a soft smile. “Go on, sleep. I’ll stay by the bed, okay?”
I stared at her gentle face, then slowly turned to Serena, who stood by the mirror, her hands folded on her
chest.
“Thank you for staying behind,” I said softly.
“No need. Pay us back by loving Lycannar,” Serena replied, then sat beside the bed. “You love him, don’t you?”

Silence fell. Dessyn cleared her throat, speaking for the first time since the Lycan princesses walked in.
“She must feel something for him to the extent that they’ve made love once,” she said.
Serena nodded, then frowned.
“The man who just left, who is he anyway?”
Nyroth. I bit my lower lip as Dessyn answered.
“He’s her mate, Alpha Nyroth of Hue Pack.”
“What?!” Mearez exclaimed, rushing to my side. I nodded feebly. “My gods, does Lycannar know about it?”
“I told him,” I admitted.
“And?” Serena pressed.
“He was mad for a brief moment, then cooled off when I told him I’d go for rejection.”
“He’s going to kill him,” Serena muttered flatly, and I swallowed.
“I won’t see Lycannar ever again if he dares kill anyone more for my sake. I won’t forgive him, and he knows it.”
Silence fell. Mearez patted my arm gently.
“He won’t do anything to make you angry. Lycannar knows how much you mean to him. You have nothing to worry about. Now close your eyes and sleep.”
Her soft voice, her gentle gesture, wrapped around me like a warm blanket. I obeyed, and the moment I lowered my eyelids, I slept.
Back Where 70
I have been around the empire twice. The first time was when I saved Blue’s brother, and the second time was when I did what my father hated the most. Have him cremated and placed his remains in the Werewolf Memorial Hall. That way, there would be no peace for him.
But tonight, I am heading toward a place I have never known, only heard of.
She is sweet. She is strong. And most importantly, she is steadfast. I would have worried too much to leave her behind, but the fact that my two sisters are with her keeps my mind at rest.
Riding toward the sunrise caught up with us when we arrived at the loneliest lane I have ever seen. My horse skidded to a stop, and my breath hitched with it.
Chantel, riding behind me, dismounted immediately to check my horse. Then he paused, glancing around. The sudden cold breeze was mysterious.
“What’s wrong?” a voice came from behind, but I didn’t pay attention.
Moon, they call him that, lives in the same house as Zephyrine. He means a lot to her, and she to him, enough that he is willing to come this far.
“Your Majesty, look,” Moon said again, and I obeyed this time.
They say the Empire Grove is at the end of the world, but to me, it seems located here, where the whispers of residents refuses to bless us. This loneliest path we’ve come across since leaving the town and packs behind so long ago.
I look ahead and see nothing but a storm brewing. A cold chill runs down my spine. It’s not just a storm, it’s a warning. My beast can feel it.
“It’s the Empire Grove. I’m moving in,” Moon said suddenly, kicking his horse into motion. I swiftly block his way.
“It’s not the Empire Grove. It’s an illusion,” I mutter under my breath, keeping my gaze down so I won’t see his death or the sorrow he will endure, but he is adamant.
“Get out of my way. I’m going to get the cure!” he charges ahead, and my horse races after his,
Gradually, a building comes into view. A large shining castle. Moon stops his horse before it and dismounts hurriedly to enter, but I am swift.
I grab his arm and push him away just in time, taking the piercing hit from a spiky branch instead,
He steps back in horror as blood drips from my chest.
Chantel arrives at that moment, eyes wide. He dismounts and rushes to me, pulling out the branch as Silence falls.
“I… I’m sorry,” I heard Moon apologize but I ignored him. I glance down at my chest. It has already healed and the pain is gone.

Gently, I walked toward Moon, and I felt him go still as I stopped before him. Slowly, he looked up into my eyes, and I paused, letting it happen. I let myself take in the misery, the sorrow, the longing… and finally, the date and time of his death.
After a few seconds, I took a step back, feeling dizzy,
“Stay here,” I tell him, then enter the castle. He rushes after me, leaving me no choice but to signal Chantel.
My bodyguard pulls him back just long enough for me to say.
“You will die ten minutes from now if you step into the castle. You can go in if you doubt me.”
Immediately, my strength wanes. My beasts, especially the demon, weaken, and I feel like sinking but I hold
on.
Gritting my teeth, I stepped into the castle, only for the surroundings to evaporate and transform into the Lycan Kingdom.
Right as I struck my first kill just at the foot of the black tower. I know this is an illusion. This is how the grove wanted to toy with me. A mirage, creeping into my deepest, ugliest memories.
I paused where I stood, looking around and there he was. My younger self, knife in hand, blood everywhere, a dying man at my feet.
My father had whispered into my ears, and I had done exactly as he instructed. What he told me was the “best way” to protect my sisters.
I lowered my gaze, walking ahead into the black tower. When I pushed open the door, the scene shifted again to the bedchamber where I had been groomed.
I froze at the doorway, staring at the older woman my father had hired.
“Teach him what sex means so he won’t be distracted by it when he grows older,” had been his order. My This update is available on find~novel~net
innocence was stolen.
I averted my eyes and stepped out of the bedchamber, when the sound of flesh meeting flesh to echo through the air.
The environment dissolved once more, returning me to the scene of my nanny’s death. A woman I had called mother, and whom I had killed with my own hands.
I looked away quickly, unable to meet the horror in her eyes, lying there in the dirt, bleeding from multiple stabs.
When everyone labeled me a monster, when everyone abandoned me, she had been the only one to ensure I survived as a pup. And what did I repay her with? Death.
I turned away and continued walking, only for the environment to shift again. This time, a door lay ahead. I was no longer in the Lycan Kingdom.
Slowly, I approached and opened it and There it was. The cure. One single petal hovered in the air, bathed in sunlight.
I swallowed hard, moving forward to take it but then I felt the shift in the air.

“I should have known you’d never amount to any good,” my father’s voice slithered through. “I should have driven a blade into your demonic heart the moment you were born.”
I set my jaw. Those were the same words he loved repeating.
“No one will ever love you, Lycannar. You are a man, a Lycan, and a demon. You belong neither fully to the demon realm nor to the Shifter empire. The woman you’re trying to save… she has a fated mate. You think that’s a coincidence?”
“Zephyrine is mine, Father,” I muttered under my breath. I reached again for the flower but his mocking chuckle filled the air.
“You saw her holding his hands. She is still drawn to him. You will only ever be useful for dangerous quest, just like you are for war in the demon realm. No one will like you or accept you, Lycannar. You will grow without aging, rotting quietly and sorrowfully in your tower while she chooses her mate, marries, has pups, and lives happily.”
His voice grew louder as I moved toward the petal, plucking it from its branch.
Immediately, the world evaporated, and I found myself standing on the lonely path again. Chnatel was ahead, Moon too.
The castle had vanished but then again I knew it was only an illusion. I must have seen things that weren’t truly there, but… the words… were they bluff, or would they truly come to pass?
