Ch. 156..160: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 156-160
Chapter 156: Rex’s fear comes to past.
Rex.
I have been thinking about everything that is happening and the fact that I cant do anything is pissing me off. I have always been useless. Beau has been able to cover up for me. Bing by his side has always made things easier than it should be for someone like me.
An omega.
The weakest of my kind.
Living is very hard, especially knowing that you will never be one of the strong contenders. In this situation, I have to go with the kids. Children are being taken to the same place as me—a grown-ass man. Darrien didn’t want to leave us. there is this fear that something would happen and we will be unable to protect ourselves. Jabi seems to think we can handle whatever comes our way. I don’t think so. I wouldn’t really be able to defend myself because I am a coward but I want to be optimistic. We made it out of there. The people on the pack aren’t as lucky as us, so we have to do whatever we can to help them. Darrien wasn’t supposed to be here with us. I know the only reason why he is, is because of his mate. Jabi has what I have always wanted. A mate, someone that would only see me. I want the love he has with Darrien. Yes, I can go as far as saying I am jealous. The envy I feel for what he has is laced with sadness. I am being patient but I want things to go faster than they are.
I am tired of being a burden to Beau. Whatever he does, he has to think about me. Rick put me close to him so that I could feed off his energy. Being that close to him has kept me alive and strong. Unlike Jabi, who had to fend for himself. I have been luckier than him. maybe that is why the deities blessed him earlier than me.
’’Are you sure we are fine on our own?’’ I ask him the minute Darrien finally gets off the bus and the driver starts it again. I don’t even know where we are going but apparently, Cranwell has someone waiting for us. the plan is to keep us safe until this is all over.
I don’t know when this will be over.
I must confess, I am fucking tired of all this.
Cassius has been nothing but a burden to us.
’’You want the honest answer?’’ he asks me, looking at me. I can smell the fear as it spills out of him.
’’Yes,’’ I reply him, looking at him in the process. It is already late in the night. We can’t even see the roads ahead. It seems like we are in the middle of nowhere and Jabi just sent the only person that can even remotely keep us from dying away.
’’Let’s just hope nothing happens.’’ He tells me and I don’t like his answer. I took his side because I felt bad. With all that is happening. Beau needs all the help he can get. Darrien is supposedly one of the strong contenders. He shouldn’t be here with us.
I am scared that we made a mistake letting him go. Cassius’s plan is to kill us all and some of us escaped, so obviously he will come looking. He wouldn’t just let us go like that. right?
’’What if they show up?’’ I ask him because, in things like this, you can never be too certain.
He shrugs and I look away from him. suddenly, my thoughts shift to Blue. What I would take to be with him right now. There is something about him that makes me feel very calm and right now I am a nervous wreck.
’’They won’t. You have to be optimistic,’’ he tells me and I watch him reach for the bag he has been clutching. He brings out a bottle and I watch as he starts to drink.
’’Blood?’’
He nods ’’I have to drink this whenever I start to feel hungry. I cant spiral out today.’’
I know that he is going through a transition but whatever he is going through is working for him. Jabi has never been outspoken. Tonight, he has said more words than me and he looks a lot healthier than all the time I have known him—which are years.
I pick at my nails to distract myself from everything and he gulps the bottle down, not leaving any inside. A little of the liquid spills to the side of his lips and I watch him as he wipes it off quickly.
’’Sorry,’’ he apologises for no reason.
I look out the window and the sky is dark, the trees are transcending from the speed we are going. In the blink of an eye, it seems like something runs in the side of my eye but I brush it off as an animal or something. In another second, another figure pops up ’’Did you see that?’’ I whisper to Jabi. He looks out the window and I watch him as he looks out for what I am talking about.
It might be my imagination but I can swear that I saw something.
’’There’s nothing out there,’’
I take a deep breath because I don’t want to be the cause of an alarm. I don’t want him to start panicking and shit. It might have been nothing.
’’I thought I saw something,’’ I tell him.
He smiles ’’We are all just nervous. Our mind is playing tricks on us,’’ he tries to rationalise, but I know that there was something out there. The minute I decide to sit down and try and relax, a sound comes from the under of the car. I stiffen against my seat as I feel the car slowing down.
’’We have a flat tyre, everyone just stay inside till I fix it,’’ the driver tells us. the people behind us start to mumble. I know everyone is scared—fuck, I am scared too.
’’It seems suspicious... don’t you think?’’ I ask Jabi because this is not a coincidence.
He furrows his brows, I know he is scared. He is trying to act tough but I see right through him. he cannot just become so brave overnight.
’’You have to stop being so worried. It is making me paranoid.’’ He pleads with me but that is out of my control. It is just who I am. I worry I think about things too deeply. That is my quirk and there is nothing I can do about it.
I stand up from the chair and he does the same, following me as I walk out of the bus ’’I said you should stay inside,’’ the man shouts at us with a glare. I ignore him because it looks like he is finding it difficult to do this on his own.
’’You look like you need some help,’’ I point out.
He stops what he is doing, and I notice that the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up halfway and there is sweat trickling on his forehead ’’Sure,’’ he sighs in defeat. Jabi breathes heavily behind me. his scent comes off as even more scared. He doesn’t want to be out here, but it is not like I want that either. For once, I want to be of help, and I know how to change tyres. So it is the least that I can do.
’’How did this happen?’’ I ask him because people don’t just get flat tyres out of the blue—okay maybe they do but this just seems too suspicious to me. everything that is happening is making me paranoid.
What if somebody actually caused this, with the sole intention of getting us stranded. It seems like that Is what happened.
I don’t want to say anything because I don’t want to make anyone panic but that seems like the likely cause.
My eyes waver around in search of what could have caused this. ’’Flat tyres happen all the time, it is not unusual.’’ The man tells me with a shrug. He doesn’t have the same panicked expression on his face. he doesn’t know what he has gotten himself into. He is just a messenger. He doesn’t khow the gravity of the situation.
My eyes catch something shiny in the corner and I leave what I am doing and walk over to it. I see the wood before the nails. A cut out part of wood with nails sticking out of this. this just proves my thoughts.
Someone did this.
I pick up the wood and Jabi walks closer to me to get a better look ’’This is not an accident. Someone did this,’’ I shout so loud with my hands still shaking. The minute those words escape my lips, I see the shadow again. This time at the back of the driver. Before I can warn him, his neck is snapped and he is on the floor.
The man responsible smiles widely ’’Hello there omegas,’’ he licks his lips, a little too proud of himself.
Fuck.
Chapter 157: The Hybrid’s bravery.
Rex.
He is dead.
The man that I just spoke to.
In the blink of an eye, he is gone.
Jabi moves closer to me. I am confused. He is suddenly so scared and there is no one to protect us. in a second, three more vampires come into view. They all have evil smiles on their faces.
This was always in the plan and Jabi convinced Darrien to leave us. I cannot protect all these people. I don’t even have the abilities to. There is no fighting. we are all going to die.
’’What are we going to do?’’ I ask Jabi since he is the one that said he could handle this on his own. I know this is not the best way to handle things but I am pissed at him—okay, maybe a lot more pissed at myself. I helped in convincing his mate to leave us here to protect all these people. They are all helpless in this situation and now they are all going to die.
Fuck.
’’I don’t know,’’ he cries shakingly.
I look at his hands and they are trembling terribly. I actually thought that with all that is happening to Jabi, he would be braver but at the end of the day, he is just a helpless omega like me. a coward and good for nothing. That is all we are and that is how we will die.
’’This is going to be fucking easy,’’ one of the men speaks up, walking closer to us. I look up to the bus windows and everyone is peering at us. they already know what is happening ’’Cassius said this was the easiest task. Killing a bunch of omegas. I will enjoy this.’’ the man says slowly reaching for me. I try to move away from him but he grabs me by my neck and pulls me until we get to the bus. i don’t want to cry. I don’t want to show him the fear that is slowly eating at my insides.
I know what is going to happen.
This is how I will die.
I didn’t get the chance to love or be loved.
I didn’t find my happiness and I will die.
I am a fucking virgin.
How is any of this fair? We haven’t done anything. we are just people that are living peaceful lives. Why do we have to be punished like this?
The man tosses me so hard that I hit one of the chairs with a heavy bang, my glasses fall somewhere under the chairs. I look up and he has a smile on his face. Beau said they are all doing this against their wills. It doesn’t look that way to me. he seems to be deriving too much pain in this.
These people are all evil in my eyes.
’’get up,’’ he shouts so loud that my legs tremble as I attempt to find my glasses. I can’t see him clearly. I don’t even know what I am up against. I could turn right now but what is the point. Would it be better to die in my true form? The part of me that I hate so much. The wolf that is useless.
’’Everyone get up now,’’ the man shouts. I look out the window and Jabi is with one of the others. They are not doing anything to him. I find that weird but I guess they don’t see him as a threat. Not like they see me as one. I don’t even look like I can hurt a fly. No one on this bus looks like a threat.
They lead us out of the bus again and I wonder why they even brought me in here in the first place. Once outside, the man that took me in looks at Jabi.
’’His scent is different,’’ he points out.
The other one nods immediately ’’Is he a vampire?’’ he asks his partner.
That one shakes his head and I just stand there as they debate on what he is. I don’t know what Jabi is either but I hear he is a mix of both.
’’We have to kill him too,’’ one of them mutters.
The other two nod in agreement. These people are talking about killing over thirty people and they say it like it is nothing to them. There are kids here, fucking babies.
These people have to be monsters.
They lead us in a line into the dark woods and I stand at the back of Jabi, unsure of what to do. We have to at least try. We can’t just give up so easily.
Are we not even going to fight?
I send him a mind link. He told Darrien that we could handle it but if we just succumb to these people, doesn’t it mean that we cant. We should at least fight—even if we end up dying. We should die fighting.
He looks at me.
What can we do?
Jabi shrugs and then we keep walking because talking to each other with no action is futile. They vampires stop walking and the one in front turns around and faces us.
’’How are we doing this?’’ he asks one of his partners, who just shrugs.
’’I say we shoot them all in the head,’’ he says bringing out a gun. I roll my eyes because that is just ridiculous to me. these people are as confused and me and Jabi. They want to start spraying fires in the middle of the woods.
’’Too noisy. Just rip their heads out of their bodies and suffocate the kids. That’s the best way.’’ The quiet one in the group suggests. It is always the quiet ones.
’’You can’t do this,’’ Jabi speaks up for the first time.
I look at him because he is basically just asking to be first.
The vampire that took me to the bus walks over to him with a smile on his face ’’And who’s gonna stop me?’’ he asks with that evil smile, spreading from ear to ear. there is no way these people are doing this against their will.
No one will be forced to be this vile.
I watch him as he folds his hands into a fist ’’Me,’’ he answers but it sounds like a question. He is even unsure of himself, so how does he even expect them to believe him.
The man in front of him looks away from him and to his partners and they all burst out in laughter. They see our group as a joke. To them, we are just a bunch of pathetic omegas that can’t do shit.
The stigma continues to eat at us, even in our final moments.
’’Let us go and you will not have to die,’’ Jabi warns them. His eyes shift to me and he manages a faint smile.
I will distract them; you have to run and take as many people as you can when I tell you.
He sends me a mind link. I didn’t even know he had a plan, but this does not seem like a great plan. Run? How fast can I run with a bunch of kids?
Jabi looks away from me as the man in front of him lifts him up by his collar ’’You think you can kill me? I want to see it. try and hurt me,’’ he laughs at him like he is just a joke. Jabi closes his eyes, still in the man’s grip. I watch as he starts to breathe heavily. His chest rising and falling. His hands are still in a fist.
My eyes never leave him because I don’t even know what is happening. I don’t know what he plans to do but I guess there is no harm trying. His breathing increases speed and I watch him and wait for that signal he said he was going to give me. If he creates the distraction, I can make a run for it with some of the kids.
The vampire in front of him grabs him by his chin and this has me wondering what he plans to do. the sight before me is not looking too good. Somehow, he has angered them and even though they had already planned to kill us before, now they are going to do it laced with anger.
the push in which the vampire pushes him is hard and I watch him as he flies to a distance. This doesn’t stop the man as he jumps again to get him to stand up. Jabi opens his eyes and all I see is the colour blue. The man walks up to him and tried to grab him by his colour again. This time he stops him by grabbing his hands swiftly. I have never seen Jabi like this before. This is a shock to me. the fact that he even has this bravery from an omega is everything to me. he pushes the vampire with so much force, unlike earlier and he hits his back on a tree. His eyes shift to me in that moment and he smiles, revealing his fangs. He is not just a wolf anymore.
’’Run,’’ he tells me and I do the exact thing he tells me.
’’Every one run,’’ I tell them as loud as I can. This is the time for me to help. I am not as strong as he is but I can try and get everyone to safety.
Thanks to Jabi.
Chapter 158: The unexpected rescue
Jabi.
I don’t even know what I plan to do but I want everyone to be safe. This is all my fault. I convinced Darrien to leave. Maybe a part of me knew something like this was going to happen. Maybe I wanted to prove myself. I mean, all my life I have been useless. I am the unfortunate omega who lost his whole family in a war. The fact that I survived for as long as I did, was a miracle. Now I have all this energy flowing through my veins and I want to finally prove myself.
Everyone thinks I am weak, and I want to show it to the world that I am not.
I want to save all these kids and make sure they don’t die.
The fact that these vampires came here with the sole intention of killing them all hurts me to the core. The moment he tosses me, I feel this anger within me. I have never been an angry type. I have always taken things as they are. The only person that has ever seen me frustrated or semi upset is Darrien and that is because he is the only person that has all of me.
At this moment, I am beyond upset. I have never had this much anger within me—to the point where it is boiling. This man, doesn’t even know anything about me, he doesn’t know anything about us and he wants to kill us because a bastard ordered him to.
I want him dead and I have never wanted anyone dead. I have never held this much hate for anyone as I do for this man. almost feels like there are forces controlling me. my wolf is awake right now. He feels very alive. This is the first time I have gotten this much support from it. I know this has everything to do with the transition. The extra strength I feel, the anger, all the energy and I want to use it to kill the man in front of me.
With a deep breath, I open my eyes and he is still watching me, that stupid smile still plastered on his face. I reach for him, unsure of what I am going to do but the minute I have him in my grip, I push him so hard and fast that it is unexpected to me.
The surge of energy as I commandeer Rex to run flows through my veins. I hear the thud at which he hits the tree and it doesn’t take too long for the others to come storming to me. in an instant, I change. It has never been this easy to change into a wolf. The pain that usually comes from my transformation is wiped away. The feeling of warmth hits me as my wolf comes alive. As the charge forward, I run towards them, wanting to cause them as much pain as they have us.
Two against one should be impossible but as my eyes shift to the lifeless body of the vampire, I get the confidence I didn’t even know I had in me. with my mouth open, I focus on one first. My teeth are sharp and as I grab unto him with the canines, he exclaims a loud screech, totally not expecting me to do that. I feel the grip of the other one, he tries to get me off his friend but the harder he holds unto me, the tighter I bite the arm. I want to cut it off, I can cut it off.
’’Get the fuck off me,’’ he screams so loud but the scene must be hilarious as I try to fight off the other one as I eat away at his arm. The harder I bite, the louder he screams. I feel the bone but that doesn’t stop me. in an instant, his arm separates from his body with one last gnash.
The moment that is done, I turn around with blood dripping down my mouth to my fur and I growl with all the anger that I have been trying to control. the other vampire frowns as his partner squeals from the pain he is feeling. He would’ve healed. I mean, he is a vampire bit he cannot grow a limb. I want him to suffer in pain as his body heals. I want to kill him but I want him to feel all the pain that his kind has caused mine. The death of my parents. The ambush. Taking us away from our home.
Wanting to kill kids.
Your turn.
I walk slowly over to the last one and he takes a step away from me. they didn’t expect this. I didn’t even expect this. I thought tonight was my last and now I am fighting the last threat for now. There is this thrilling joy within me as I walk even closer to him. his eyes shift from mine to his partner. the closer I get to him, the father he tries to get away from me before I can pounce on him, someone springs forward towards us and with super speed, he twists the neck of the vampire instantly. I watch the life as it vanishes from his eyes immediately and I feel a pang of guilt even though it wasn’t me that just killed him.
he reaches for the other man, the one on the floor with one arm and does the same thing again. completely ignoring his cries of pain.
’’I knew it was you,’’ I hear a voice before I see his face clearly. Getting a closer look, I see his face, there is a smile on his face. immediately, I recognise him. I am surprised he is still alive.
’’You wanna turn back so we can talk?’’ he asks me, still smiling with that warm look on his face.
The fact that he is here and so calm is everything. I don’t feel threatened with him—even though he is working for Cassius. I slowly start to turn and he watches me, with curiosity etched on his face.
’’Why is your scent different?’’ he asks immediately I am human.
I part my lips open and my fangs spring up. He opens his eyes wide and then furrows his brows in confusion. The shock and confusion evident on his face.
’’How is this possible?’’ he questions like I even have a clue.
’’I don’t know,’’ I answer him honestly. He nods his head and smiles again, revealing his dimples ’’Can we say we are even now?’’ he asks.
That night that Darrien found me at the cave. He wanted to kill him but I begged on his behalf and now he is alive because of me. yes, i want to take all the glory but that night, I knew there was good in him and he just proved it to me.
’’You were sent here to kill us.’’
He nods.
’’So why did you save me?’’
He shrugs almost like he is unsure himself ’’I just don’t like to owe people and seeing you with those kids. I knew this was the right thing to do.’’
I nod.
He pulls off his jacket and hands it to me. I raise a brow and he shrugs again ’’You must be cold, you are shivering.’’
I put on the jacket and we walk around the forest as I search for Rex and the rest. I told them to run but I don’t know where they would be.
Where are you?
I try for a mind link.
’’Their scents are quite strong. I can find them for you.’’ He suggests.
’’How about your girl... won’t helping us ruin your chances of getting her back?’’ I remember that he told me the reason why he is working with Cassius.
Cassius is the only enemy I recognise.
He is the true villain of this story.
The rest are just puppets that he has at the tip of his fingers. Once Cassius is dead, peace will be restored.
’’I realised she wouldn’t like the man I have become.’’
I raise a brow ’’And what kind of man is that?’’
’’The kind that would kill kids. She would rather be dead than hear that I did that.’’
That is what I couldn’t understand. Most of Cassius’s minions are doing things against their wills. Some of them might not even want this life, so I can’t understand how they could look at kids and babies and talk about killing them.
It is unimaginable to me.
’’Come on, the scent is getting stronger.’’ He tells me as we walk deeper into the woods.
I know rex is smart. He would be able to keep them all hidden ’’Do you know how to fix a flat tyre of a bus?’’ I ask him.
He nods. We walk deeper. The plan still has to stay in motion. I have to get all the kids to safety and even though I didn’t know where that is, I will have to do the next best thing. Darrien’s apartment is empty. If we keep them there, for the time being, everything will be fine.
I need to protect them.
Chapter 159: The maniac’s mind
Cassius.
This is easier than I even thought It would be. I want them all dead and now it seems like a possibility. I had a plan, and my plan is going exactly as I wanted.
Having complete and utter control of them is a blessing. They all think I am weak. I see it in their eyes as they watch me. they are sad for me. They don’t understand why I am doing this.
Their Alpha is lifeless and weak, and they still believe in him.
They still think he is their saviour.
’’Your Alpha is nothing. He is dead and there is nothing anyone can do about it.’’ I shout to no one in particular. The most irritating thing about this is the fact that vampires are here. Alanis is here, fighting with the wolves. The monsters that hurt our kind.
They don’t understand how terrible they are.
They are on their side when they should be on mine. I cannot stand it, I want them all to suffer the same way I have all these years.
I reach for Beau’s lifeless body and pull him up until he is clear enough for them all to see. I want to kill him in front of them. Maybe then they will know that this is not a game. That I mean business. He is dead, I succeeded in killing him and they are all looking at him like he will wake up at any moment. I don’t understand this loyalty they have for him. he is useless, weak and nothing compared to me.
I throw his lifeless body to them and Alanis tries to hold unto it before it hits the ground. There is no point, he is gone. I sucked the life out of him, so any attempt to rescue him will be futile—you can’t save a dead person. He is not the first person I have killed. There have been so many strong contenders, people that made me want to waver, but Beau was never one of them. I hated the look he had, almost like he was letting me know that he was better than me. I tried to show him the truth. Everything, the reason why I have to do this, but he chose to ignore it all. He wants to make me that bad guy. I was innocent. I didn’t deserve to have my whole life taken from me in one night by people who didn’t even know anything about us.
Alanis looks up at me, his eyes are welled up. He wants to cry but he is trying to be strong. I want him to show his weakness before I end him. I want to see them all at their weaknesses before I end them all.
All the killings, all the death, I want to complete my mission so that I can finally rest.
Alanis stands up, slowly placing Beau in a corner and I smile, wanting him to initiate a fight with me. he is the only one that is not being controlled right now. I don’t know how it is possible in the first place. Everyone here is under my spell. They can’t do anything. they are here, they can hear and see everything that is happening but they can’t do anything.
’’Be a fucking man Cassius. don’t hide behind all these tricks and mind games. Fight me like a man.’’ he shouts, walking even closer to me.
I wait for him to get close enough to me. he wants me to fight him. I will fight him.
Give him what he wants. Show him that I was always undefeatable. They al never had a chance against me. it was always a losing game.
’’I am here, you have me, fair and square. Show me what you got.’’
I don’t think he even realises that his mate is dead. Beau is gone and there is nothing anyone can do about that. He takes another step towards me. I want to talk some sense into him first. See if he can listen to me and join me ’’You are just like me. there is no point fighting me. He is gone. You need to move on from him.’’
He frowns ’’Like you moved on from Gyles?’’ he asks me, mentioning that name that I don’t want to hear right now. He doesn’t understand anything about Gyles. He wasn’t there, so he can’t act as if he understands.
’’Don’t ever say his name,’’ I warn him.
At this point, he is aggravating me. Tugging me exactly where it hurts. I won’t sit back and watch him talk about this.
’’How will you feel when you find out that all you did was for nothing?’’ he asks me, smiling warmly.
I know what he is doing, he is trying to play mind games with me. beat me at my own game. This is not going to work. He is not going to mess with my mind by bringing the one person that matters to me up.
’’I am not here to talk, if you think you can fight me,’’ I stretch my hands out in the air ’’Fight me,’’ I add. I am not here to talk. I am here to end it all and if Alanis doesn’t want to join me, then I will have to kill him.
His eyes turn red and I know what is coming. It is almost like I can sense the blow before it comes. The moment his fist spring forward, I grab unto it to block the hit. He cannot match my speed. no matter how hard he tries. He will never be as strong as me.
We continue the tug of war game, him trying to get at least one hit but no matter how fast he is, I am a million times faster. All the pent-up anger, all the frustration. Everything I have had to go through. I use it on him, because right now at this moment. He is the only one that can fight back. Everyone else has shown me how weak they are. Alanis is the only one that is fighting, he is the only one that is even trying.
It will be a shame to kill him.
The tossing game continues and the more he tries to attack me. the more I hurt him. It will be easy to snap his neck into two right now. But there is no thrill in this. this is like just taking candy from a baby.
’’is this all you got?’’ I ask him still smiling. He wanted a fair fight and I gave him a fair fight. He didn’t even hurt one bone in my body ’’You asked for this and you can’t take me down. why don’t you take me down? I mean it shouldn’t be that hard,’’ my hand is around his neck. There is blood spewing out of his nose and mouth. all these are bruises that don’t affect vampires. He will heal but it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t feel whatever pain I inflict on him. I want to see him in pain before I kill him.
There is no point in keeping him alive. I tried to talk him into being on my side but he is too stuck on love and I don’t blame him. I am the same way. Losing Gyles opened my eyes. Made me see things for what they really are.
And the wolves need to be eliminated. That is the only way that there can be restoration in the world. The only way there will be peace.
I am doing this to save the world.
’’I am sorry that you will have to die,’’ I apologise because I don’t have any problem with vampires. He is not my enemy. He is just unfortunately in between everything.
My grip around his neck becomes tighter, I watch him as he gets paler than usual. the moment I get his neck out of his body, it will all be over. I hate to do this but he left me with no choice.
’’I am sorry about this,’’ I tell him again because the final moments of one’s life are always the loneliest. His eyes open wide as he grabs my hands in an attempt to get them off him. I am using all my strength.
A tear slips from his eye and I watch it as it falls to his cheek as I lift him off his feet. I gave him the fair fight and he didn’t win, so this is the end.
In that instant, his eyes close and he becomes unconscious but it is not enough for me. I need to end his life right now, so I continue until I pierce into his skin, blood spills over but before I can split his head into two, I feel a push, so hard and fast that is unexpected. The force of the push is intense, that my hands fall from around his neck and I fly to the other side of the field unsure of what happened.
Whatever it is, I intend to destroy it.
Chapter 160: The fight between two enemies
Beau.
I feel the veins in my body as they travel all around. I can hear everyone but somehow my body is taking a while to respond to the sounds. Cassius sounds angry. I recognize Lanis. He is sad. I am the only one that has always been able to detect his sadness.
The pain in his voice is evident.
I want to hold him in my arms and tell him that everything is going to be okay because everything is going to be okay once I wake up from this cloudy dream.
The dark space I am in keeps on getting darker and even though I already know that I am not dead, I don’t know how to get out of here
’’Move Beau, wake the fuck up,’’ I commandeer myself but the more I try to harder it is.
I take deep breaths as I try to listen to everything that is happening. Lanis is talking but his words are muffled. I can’t make them out, I want to. The moment my body is lifted, I feel the pressure. Everything feels heavier and stronger. All I want to do is reach out and touch Lanis. I want this all to end. I feel Lanis’s grip on me, he clutches tightly. I want to wake up. Tell him that everything is alright.
My heart aches in my chest. The more I listen, the harder the pull to wake up is. I don’t know what is going on but I know I am not dead. I can feel the blood flowing through my veins. I feel so much more energy than I did before. Lanis needs me, he is hurting and all I am doing is lying down on the cold ground, unable to help him.
I muster all the strength in me and in that instant I feel a pull of all the energy that has been flowing through my veins and with one swing my eyes open wide.
Everything is as it was before I was unconscious. I don’t know if anyone has seen me but in the moment I stand up, I see Lanis and Cassius. His hands are tightly wound around my baby. Blood dripping from the pressure. My heart races in my chest. This is the fastest I have ever reacted. I am not in control of my mind. My wolf, completely taking over. I transition into the strongest form I can muster and in a split second, I push Cassius away from Lanis. There is nothing in my mind except saving him. I want to end this and I want to end it now. Cassius falters away from Lanis and my attention deviates to my mate as he clutches unto his neck tightly. The pain is evident on his face as I walk up to him hurriedly. His eyes open wide and for the first time, I see tears in them. I don’t want him to cry but before I can comfort him, I feel a pull and Cassius is back on my heel. There is a smile as he grabs unto me and runs with his super speed. I hold unto his hand in an attempt to get his grip off me.
He keeps running until we are far away from the crowd and back into the community. Once we get to the field, he stops, breathing heavily.
"How are you alive right now?’’ he asks me rhetorically.
I don’t know how I am alive but one thing I know for sure is that my will to survive is stronger than his. I will not lose this fight. I am ready to end it all.
’’No words?’’ he continues, ignoring the fact that I am not here for a conversation. I run up to him and he welcomes me with a smile. Whatever he did to get me unconscious is not going to work. He had access to my mind, he used that to control me but I am not going to let him again.
’’You are a fucking coward and I am done talking,’’ this time I run to him and he dodges me immediately. Still with that smug smile on his face. I don’t know how to deal with someone that is faster than me but I will keep pushing until he gets tired. We continue the back and forth and he manages to get a swing at me. I feel my jaw as it breaks but the healing process is so quick that it almost seems like it never happened. Finally, I get a grip of him and he tries to dodge again but to my avail, I am successful.
This tug of war stops as I grip my teeth into his neck, biting him with so much force that I feel the metallic taste of his blood. He screams so loud and for the first time since I met Cassius, I see him in pain. He falls to the grass and I watch him as he grabs his neck and tries to block the bleeding. This is my chance, while he is caught off guard.
I plan on killing him.
’’How is this possible,’’ he breathes out, his voice shaking.
I have never seen Cassius’s weak side but right now, as the bleeding refuses to stop. I see the fear in his eyes. I have the upper hand and i don’t plan on wasting time. I want to end him, completely and irrevocably. I don’t even care to ask what he is talking about. All I want to do is fucking kill him.
Still on his knees, he slowly stands up. I let him because I want him to look me in the eyes as I kill him. The blood is still pouring out of his neck and this has me confused. He should’ve healed by now. Why is he still bleeding? He should have healed by now.
He removes his hand away from his neck as I stop walking. My eyes stay on the bite that I inflicted on him.
’’You are not going to win, this is not—’’ I cut him off before he continues with a hard blow to his face. The force at which I use, has him flying to the end of the field.
I run to him before he can gather his stance, while he is on the ground I grab the collar of his shirt and continue with the punches. I want him to lose all his strength. Right now, he is still strong. I keep punching him and the more I hit him, the more blood comes out. At this point, I am using all my energy. All the anger, the chaos that he has brought into my life. I take it out on him. His eyes are open wide from the shock of what is happening. I steal a glance at the bite and it is still bleeding. The skin around the bite is purple. It almost looks like an infected wound. Cassius is supposed to be one of the strongest, so why isn’t he healing.
This is not the time to understand anything. This is the time to win. A smile sprawls to my face as I see him fighting to stay awake. I know what is to come next ’’How does it feel to lose?’’ I ask him rhetorically before hitting him one last time and as he blacks out, my heart dances in my chest from the excitement of what just happened.
I let go of his shirt and move an inch away from him. my heart is racing against my chest.
The man I have been trying to kill.
He is here, unconscious and weak.
Finally.
I take steady breaths as I try to stop the shaking of my hands. He is not dead yet, but he is also not awake. I have half a mind to kill him right now but I also want him to suffer before he dies. I want him to see that all his hate and anger towards my kind was useless. The man he has been fighting for is still alive. I want to show him that he wasted all those years.
I drag his body back to one of the empty houses of the community. The one where we kept the vampires last time. He is so far gone that I doubt he is waking up any time soon, but I can take any chances. I need to be sure.
Slowly I tie his hands with the silver chains and I watch them as they burn his wrists. I do the same to his leg until I am very sure he can’t escape and then I leave the house, making sure to lock the doors.
I hear the noises before I get to the woods. The part where the battle was supposed to happen. The minute I get there, the sight in front of me breaks my heart. The fight in front of me. this was originally the plan but after fighting Cassius, I don’t want things to go the way we planned.
I don’t want to kill any vampires.
I want peace.
