Ch. 261..265: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 261-265
Chapter 261: Broken promises
Gyles.
I sit on the edge of his bed because I am suddenly regretting this decision. Yeah, we didn’t know what we walked into but I at least didn’t think it would be this bad. We both hear their conversations. His mother is not even trying to be subtle. She is not hiding how she feels at all and I see that she doesn’t like us—she doesn’t like wolves.
"We messed up,’ Rex mutters quietly. He is still standing on the same spot from when Blue left. He doesn’t seem to want to move.
"Hey, come here,’’ I stretch my hands out and he moves slowly until he is in front of me. His eyes are still fixed to the door. He is waiting for Blue to come back into the room. The voices have stopped, so I know that his mother is no longer with him. I don’t know why he hasn’t come in but I need to just focus on Rex right now. I grab his hands in mine and he finally turns to me. "It’s going to be okay."
I am trying to give him assurance that I don’t even believe in. I don’t know if it is going to be okay. I don’t know anything about Blue but it seems to me like he doesn’t have a good relationship with his mother. I knew from the first day I met Jules that the man loved his son. This woman, on the other hand, has this anger in her. It doesn’t feel like she is a nice person.
"How sure are you?" he asks.
I know he has regrets. He didn’t want to come here. I am the one that pestered him to. I guess I thought this was a way to make things right between me and Blue and I brought Rex in the middle. Thinking about it, I shouldn’t have involved him.
"Just calm down. We will leave before things get worse,’’ I tell him.
He shakes his head "What about Blue. It seemed like he didn’t tell her about us. Meaning he didn’t want her to know about this. What is going to happen now?’’
I close my eyes for a couple of seconds because I don’t know what he wants me to say. I don’t know anything right now, slowly opening my eyes, the door opens before I can respond to him. I am thankful because I didn’t even have anything to say. I didn’t know how to make this better.
Bleu looks at us and all I can focus on is how red his eyes are right now. It makes me angrier with myself. He walks over to us and I watch him as he stops in front of us. "Okay, that didn’t go well,’’ he breathes out, running his hands through his hair.
My eyes remain on him. He sighs loudly "I am sorry,’’ I manage because at the end of this, it is all my fault.
"For coming here or for disobeying me when I asked you to go back home?’’ he asks heavily.
I look away from him for a second and then back to him "Both.... I didn’t know that this would happen." I tell him honestly. The worst thing I thought would happen was him angry with us and sending us back home.
I didn’t know that he had problems here.
Blue didn’t seem like the kind of person that anyone could have a problem with. He has this aura about him. The one that makes people love him. I just imagined that he would be accepted for who he is but now, it seems like his mother has hate for who he is. She doesn’t want him to be who he truly is.
"It’s too late for the blame game anyways. I need to get you back home first thing in the morning.’’ He mutters. "Right now, I want you guys to stay inside this room until I get back. It’s late. I am sure you are tired. So just have a shower if you want and go to bed.’’ He is glaring at me. Almost like this warning is for me.
I am the trouble maker.
The problematic one.
I don’t deny that.
"How long are you going to be gone?’’ Rex pipes up meekly.
He smiles at him and walks over to him, slowly planting a soft kiss on his forehead "I have some things to do. People to talk to at this party and I don’t want you guys around these people. I will be back in the room in a couple of hours." He is only calm to him.
He still hates me.
"Okay,’’ Rex manages softly.
There is a fit of jealousy inside me that I don’t want to admit. I know it will take a while before he completely comes around to me but I just wish he would forgive me and treat me the same way he is treating Rex. I don’t want to have to worry about pleasing him and making sure he is not upset with me.
I just want him.
He turns to me and grabs my hand in his, there is a glare on his face "I need you to listen to me tonight. Stay inside the room. Do not come out,’’ he reaches for my face with his other hand and I sigh loudly because I know he is trying his best. I have to listen to him.
I don’t want to keep upsetting him.
"I promise, I won’t leave,’’ I assure him and this gets a smile out of him. I love it when he smiles. I love it when he is happy with me. We might not be where I want us to be but this is a step forward. We are getting to that point. He leans forward until his lips are on mine. I close my eyes, wanting more from the kiss but he lets go of me before I can even relax in his arms.
Once he is out of the door, I look at Rex and he has a smile on his face "I think he has forgiven you,’’ he points out.
I smile because for the first time I am content.
***********************
I open my eyes to the sound of the door and the room is dark. I check Rex’s side of the bed and he is not on it. in one quick moment, I jump off the bed and see him as he departs from the room.
Why is he going out?
What is happening?
I stand up because I don’t want to do anything to make Blue angry with me "Rex,’’ I call his name quietly as I get to the halls. He is walking down the hall, almost like he is sleepwalking. I don’t know what is going on but I see something glistening in his hand. Squinting my eyes, I look closer until I see the knife.
Why does he have a knife?
I run over to him and grab him by his shoulder. He stops walking but doesn’t turn around "What are you doing?’’ I manage because I am confused.
He doesn’t respond to me, so I go over to him and his eyes are open. They are white, completely. I am worried because something seems very wrong.
"Rex,’’ I call his name. I want him to snap out of whatever this is. In one swift moment, I feel the knife as it pierces through my chest. I fall to the floor because the blood starts to gush out.
I watch him as he walks away from me, unable to stop him.
Slowly my eyes close and all I can think of is breaking my promise to Blue.
Chapter 262: The attack
Blue.
The quicker I find out who is responsible for the attack, the faster I can get the fuck out of here. I walk to the ballroom. The biggest room in the house and Eva waves at me with a smile on her face. She seems chirpy right now. I don’t know if she witnessed the scene with Gyles and Badger. I haven’t even checked on him. I don’t even know if he is okay. I know Gyles’s damage cannot be that bad on him.
"Hey,’’ she says as I stop in front of her. The band is playing music in a corner in the room. This kind of event is the lamest, and I have always thought that mother’s parties were the worst. To her, they are the only way she wouldn’t feel so alone and even though now is the worst time to be around people, she still chose to have it.
"Where have you been? I have been looking everywhere for you, she bats her lashes. To me this is weird. I have never had any kind of relationship with Eva. She has just been one of those people that I noticed but was never close to. There was a time in my life where I thought she was cool. I had a little crush on her but it died when I got to know her. She is one of them, the people in the coven that think I am a freak. They didn’t even want to get to know me, they just assumed that I was terrible and it became clear to me that they would never really accept me. They will always see me as different, even though they don’t even know me.
"I had some things to sort out." I manage.
She nods "I heard about the wolves. What are the odds that wolves would show up in the estate,’’ she says like she is deep in thought.
"How did you hear about that?’’ I ask because it just happened a couple of minutes ago.
She shrugs and then smiles "Word travels fast here. Like I said before, people talk.’’
I nod because she is right and even though I don’t know how she even knew they werewolves in the first place. I need her right now. I have to find out everything he knows. I need to know who poisoned mom so that I can get the fuck out of this estate. It has just been a couple of days and it feels like I am being sucked in.
I don’t know how I am going to send them home but the best thing would be to get them to leave the same way they came. They drove here on their own, so I am sure they can do the same thing. I just don’t trust Gyles right now. He is actually dangerous. Somehow, it is like danger just has a way of following him and the fact that Rex is stuck with him is my main worry.
You are worried about the two of them.
My wolf tells me, with this I know a lot more than you do attitude. Of course, I am worried about them. I love them both—no exception but Gyles seems like he is going to be a lot more problematic. I know he is still going to do things that will make me upset with him. I know he is still going to aggravate me but that is just who he is and I have to accept him for all that he is.
It will take a while but I will get there.
"I need your help, Eva. I need to know the people behind the attack," I tell her because that is the only reason why I would even be talking to her.
"I don’t know,’ she denies it immediately.
I frown "I know you must have heard some things. Just tell me what you know and we will be fine,’’ I go for the harsh tone because she is not being helpful right now.
"The best person to get the answers you want is from Major and I am sure you know that he is not easy to confront,’’ she tells me, not even paying attention to my threats or harsh tones.
I never thought it would be easy getting information from her but I also didn’t think it would be hard. "There was a party the night it happened. I need to know all the people that were present."
She shrugs "You won’t get an answer from me. I wasn’t at the party that night so I can’t help you." I can sense her losing interest in this conversation, so I let her go, in search of Major. Major is the biggest jerk among all the people here. I have never been able to get along with him and it all has to do with the fact that he hates me. Major has always had a hate kind of relationship with me and now just thinking about how I will have to talk to him about this is not the best thing.
I see him in a crowd of people. He always has people around him. He is the kind of person that people adore. The perfect warlock—unlike me. I have been pushed around by him for so long that the dread within me is so high. I stop in front of his crowd and he looks up at me immediately. A smile sprawls to his face.
"Oh if it isn’t the future leader," he claps his hands together and all eyes turn to me. I keep the blank expression on my face. There is no way in hell, that I will get answers from him.
"Are you enjoying the party?’’ I ask because I am trying to be cordial with him.
He laughs probably not believing my bullshit, "You know, I know for a fact that you don’t care if I am enjoying your party. What do you want?’’
I roll my eyes because it is not easy for me to hide how I am feeling. Right now I want to rip his head out of his body. "Wait a minute, I think you have something on your hair,’’ I settle for this because I know I am not getting anything from him. He watches me as I lean forward and reach for his hair. I pull out a strand of hair from his head and he raises a brow "I know what you want to do. You will not find what you are looking for." He tells me almost like he wants me to do this.
I walk away from him with the hair in my grip until I get to the potion room. All it takes is a potion to get into his head. He knew what I wanted to use his hair for—which just means this might be a waste of time. I mean. I am scared because this time, it seems like whoever is behind this is ready to kill anyone that gets in their way. I have half a mind to just tell mom to stand down. She is not even a great leader. I don’t know what she is fighting for.
I put on the fire with the cauldron on top of the blaze and then I add a tiny measuring cup of water into it. I have not made a potion in a long time but this is needed. Most times, it is easy to see people’s memories, without spells and potions but he blocked me. Witches and warlocks can block their thoughts. It is easy to have secrets but with this, I will get what I need from his head. I add the feathers of a rooster and then I wait for it to boil. Once it is boiled I sprinkle his chestnut brown hair into the cauldron and watch it for a couple of minutes.
I sit down in front of the fire as I wait for the feathers to mix with the hairs. Once it is ready, I know immediately.
I bring it out of the fire and place it on the table as I wait for it to cool down. I hate the taste of the memory potion. It is acidic and nasty but I have no choice but to do this. I need answers and this is the only way I can get the answers. Just as I am about to drink it, I hear a scream, one so loud that it has my heart racing. I jump up from the seat and run out of the room because I already know that something terrible has happened. My heart races against my chest because I am thinking the worst.
I run until I get to the ballroom. There is a crowd. I walk over to the crowd, pushing people until I get to the front. I see my mother first, on the floor. There is blood everywhere. So much blood. She is unconscious. I want to run to her, I want to pick her up and save her but the next thing I see shocks me. Rex Unconscious next to her.
With a knife.
Chapter 263: Too many bad things at once
Blue.
In a split second, I have to make a choice.
My mother or the love of my life.
It feels like time has stopped. I am frozen at this moment. Everything is at a standstill. They are both on the floor and I know who everyone would want to get rid of. I know the one that will end up getting hurt.
I can’t sense a heartbeat from my mother. She is the one that needs me right now. I run to her after a lot of contemplation. There shouldn’t even be any doubt in my mind. She is the leader of the cove. She is the one that is hurt but my heart is for Rex. All I can think about is him and what could have possibly happened to make him do this.
"Don’t touch him until I return,’’ I glare at them. Levine is next to me. There are tears in her eyes. She is crying terribly. I was against this party because I knew something was going to happen, I just didn’t expect my mate to be involved in this.
Something must have happened. Rex would never hurt anyone. This is a misunderstanding and I am sure I will be able to get to the bottom of it eventually. Right now I just need to make sure she is not dead. I don’t want her to die, I don’t want to be the reason why she is dead. The last things she said to me still resonate and I need us to be okay.
I need her to be okay.
I take her to her room and place her on the bed. She is still bleeding and now, there is blood all over me. Levine walks into the room.
"Who is that boy, where did he come from?" her eyes are red from all the crying. She is talking but all I can focus on is my mother. I turn her to her side and I see the stab wound, it is still gushing out blood. She is still bleeding. He stabbed her from her back.
"She is barely alive,’’’ Levine goes on her knees and I watch her, hoping there is still a way she can stop the bleeding.
I can’t do anything right now. My blood is useless if she is not alive. I don’t know what to do. "Move aside Blue. I have to stop the bleeding." She tells me as she removes her dress completely. I turn away because this is actually too much to handle. This is more than I bargained for.
"Get me the healing potion from the basement," she shouts to me.
I run out of the room because there is actually nothing I can do for her. If we try a hospital right now, they won’t be able to help her. I saw the blade that he used and I don’t know where he got it from but it is an Athame blade. There are only six of its kind left in the world. So whoever gave it to him must be powerful. Someone made him do this—someone with magic.
I get the healing potion and head back to her room. I bump into Major and he has a smile on his face "Seems like you won’t be needing my hair anymore,’’ he stops me with the evilest smile on his face. I already know that he has something to do with this, he might not be the instigator of this but he is part of whoever is behind this.
I walk away from him and to her room. Levine has her cleaned up as I walk in. she looks at me and stretches her hand out to me "Give it to me.’’
I watch her as she pours a substantial amount into her mouth. I watch her as she calls out some incantations, spells that might help her. I don’t know if she will be saved because an Athame blade is used to kill witches. We don’t have healing powers. We are human, we can die but with our spells and potions, as long as we are still alive, we can heal.
After a couple of minutes, she lets out a heavy breath and closes her eyes "Fuck,’’ she exclaims.
She looks at me and I know what my blood is next. I walk over to her dressing table and open it up. There are different types of knives inside. I just need one, so I grab the closest one and walk back to her.
I just hope she doesn’t die because there won’t be a way to save Rex if she does and killing him is just like killing me.
***************
After about an hour of being with mom, I go back to the ballroom. The exact place I left him. I know it won’t be easy to just take him back to my room. They would want him locked up in the dungeons. Right now, he is the person that tried to kill the leader of the coven. He is the biggest threat.
"You need to see something,’’ Badger calls me before I even have a chance to get to Rex. I don’t even know when he woke up and I don’t even care. All I care about right now is Rex and making sure they don’t kill him.
"I need to get to the ballroom,’’ I tell him.
He sighs "He is already in a cell. There is no point contesting it."
I gave an order and they didn’t listen to me. I don’t know what I was expecting. No one ever listens to me in this place. That is why I want to leave. They don’t take me seriously and nothing I say will convince them that Rex is not the person that we should be locking up.
I ignore him and walk over to the room. No one is left, it is almost like this place wasn’t filled up with all those people. They are all gone but the bloodstains are still on the floor. I hear Badger’s footstep "Someone else is hurt, he didn’t make it,’’ he breathes out.
I freeze because my mind goes to Gyles instantly. I haven’t thought about him all night because in my mind. He is in my room, asleep. He promised he wasn’t going to leave my room. So I didn’t think he would be in any danger.
"Where is he?’’
He leads me to the hallway, the direction of my room. I know he is the one and my heart beats to the sounds of our footsteps. I feel weak and dejected. I haven’t seen him but I am already thinking the worst. I should feel it if he is dead. He is my mate, I should know if he is dead.
From the distance, I recognize him before I get to him.
"Fuck,’’ I run over to him. I can feel the tears as they fall. There is no way I will be able to control myself right now. I grab him immediately and his skin is pale. His heart is not beating.
"Gyles, wake up’’ I shout so loud. Desperate to see his eyes again. His smile.
He doesn’t respond.
Fuck.
Chapter 264: Mixed emotions
Blue.
I see the stab wound on his lower stomach. The difference between him and my mother is the fact that he is healing very fast. The cut doesn’t look as deep as it probably was, from all the blood on his shirt. He is not dead but it feels like he is.
"He is in a sleep state,’’ Badger tells me as I caress his hair softly.
"What are you talking about?’’ I ask him because I have stopped hiding my fears. I have been crying since I saw him on the floor. I keep thinking about him and Rex and what will happen to them. If my mother doesn’t make it, they will want to kill him. I know that I will not let them but that will mean I will have to escape with him. I will have to denounce my title as the heir to the coven. I don’t even want it in the first place but I don’t want to leave this place on a bad note. I don’t want to have to worry about people looking for us and making enemies in the future. No matter what happens, I will stick by Rex and Gyles because I know that he didn’t do this.
Someone must have put a spell on him. That is the only explanation. I know there are people in the coven that wanted her dead. So they would have done anything. I just don’t know why they would use him. They didn’t even know who he was in the first place. He just got here.
Why was he the scapegoat?
"He is a vampire... right?’’ he asks me.
Badger has the willed-sense too. His is not as strong as mine. I guess right now, I am even too emotional to sense anything. My heart is a wreck right now. All the uncertainty going on. I wish they didn’t come here. I don’t want to put the blame on Gyles but he should have listened to me. I can’t even be angry with him right now because he got his punishment.
Why does it seem like you’re the one that is being punished?
My wolf asked me.
I don’t have an answer to that. I just want him to wake up and be better. I just want to take them both back to the community away from all this trouble.
"How can you tell?’’ I ask him.
He smiles "I have known a lot that I didn’t say. I know about you too.’’ He tells me. This surprises me because I thought I kept it all well. Mother didn’t want anyone to know about my werewolf side. She wanted to keep it a secret. She didn’t want the judgment that would come with people knowing. It is not like I even cared but I just listened to her because that is all I do. Obey, obey, and obey.
I wipe the tears from my face "Then you should know that he is my mate?’’ I breathe out, it feels good telling him.
He smiles "What about the other one, the one that stabbed your mother?"
He must sense something too. It is very easy to block out all my emotions. Witches cannot sense witches but right now, my emotions are so strong that I am sure he can read them all clearly.
"He is mine too,’’ I seethe in a way, I am telling him that I won’t let anything happen to him.
He nods his head "That seems very weird though. Having two mates?"
I nod "Yeah, I thought so too but I will do anything for the two of them."
He smiles "I can see that.’’
I close my eyes, trying to block the last two hours out of my head. I don’t know what I can do but I want to know if Badger will help me.
"Analise is strong. Nothing is going to take her away from you,’’ he tries to assure me but I don’t know anymore. I just feel like she has been very reckless lately. I don’t even know how to handle her. I don’t know how to protect her from all these people.
"This time was bad,’’ I find myself crying again. Maybe it feels like this time is worse because my babies are involved. I wish they were never here in the first place. I wish I didn’t have to worry about them, on top of everything else, but it has happened. There is nothing I can do but find a solution so that we can move forward.
"She will not die. As long as she is alive. Your mate won’t have to suffer."
He is basically telling me that Rex’s fate lies in the hands of my mother’s survival rate. I close my eyes again because I don’t know if I can handle that. I have never wished for her to survive as much as I wish now. I hear Badger’s footsteps as he walks out of my room. Slowly opening my eyes, I grab Gyles’s hand in mine. It is cold... very cold. It makes me think he is dead.
"Please wake up Gyles. I need you right now. I am sorry about everything. Sorry for all the things I said." I breathe out my apology and deep down, I know he can hear me.
I know he will be fine.
After a couple of minutes, I walk out of the room and out of the house until I get to the dungeon house, where we keep prisoners. This place has so many perpetrators. People that have been caught after many attempts and to think that Rex—the quietest and most caring guy I have ever met is one of the people here, just has me baffled.
I know that I am going to get him out of here but I don’t know how long he will have to suffer in here. I don’t know who is going to be against me but I will leave everything behind for him.
The guard at the door shakes his head "I have orders not to let anyone in,’’ he tells me. I raise a brow because I already know who is giving him these orders. The elders of the coven. The only people that can make decisions apart from my mother.
"I just need a minute Elias,’’ I plead.
He shakes his head "That man tried to kill the chief. If anything happens, I will be killed.’’ He interjects. I understand him but I also know that I can get through to him.
"The chief is my mother. I know how serious this is but I just need a minute with him.’’
He sighs and then I watch him as he looks at me and to the cage. I can see Rex’s silhouette. He is on the floor. It seems like he is still unconscious. Whatever spell he is on, feels like a strong one. It must have been someone powerful.
"Five minutes,’’ he finally agrees.
He gives me the keys and I walk in slowly. I know he won’t wake up now but I also know that I don’t even want him awake right now. I wish he could sleep all through this. At least until I get him out but I also know that is impossible. His breathing is soft, his eyes are closed. I go on one knee and reach for him, slowly touching his face. He is warm—unlike Gyles. Different temperatures, different situations.
I take a deep breath and reach for my pocket, pulling out a pen.
I just want him to know that he will be okay. I just want him to know that I will protect him and make sure that nothing happens to him.
Rex.
I wake up and I am in unfamiliar territory.
Getting up from the cold hard ground, I look around, wondering why I am here in the first place. Wondering what the hell happened last night. Why did I fall asleep in Blue’s bed and wake up in a cell-looking cage?
I walk to the cage and hold onto the railings confused right now.
This is the second time in the span of two days that I can’t remember anything. I don’t know what is going on but it seems like something big. Like I am in some sort of trouble.
"Hello,’’ I shout to get the attention of the man by the door. He looks at me but turns around so fast like he didn’t even hear me. I sigh loudly because I am getting scared. Scared of what is going to happen to me. I go back to the corner and sit back down on the floor, resting my head on the floor. I can’t imagine what I could have done that landed me in this cell.
I wonder what happened to Blue and Gyles.
I just hope they are okay.
I don’t know what makes me look at my hand but I see the writing on my palm and I know it is him instantly.
I will get you out of this.
Trust me.
Chapter 265: The thin line between life and death
Gyles.
I open my eyes to bright light.
I remember everything that happened last night. Rex stabbed me, he didn’t look like he had a care in the world. The person that I saw wasn’t the man I knew. There was something wrong with him and I couldn’t stop him. I don’t know what he did but I am thankful that I am living to see another day.
I look around me and I am not in Blue’s room. I can already imagine how worried he must have been, seeing me. I don’t even want to think about the pain he must have gone through.
I don’t want to think about anything. I don’t want to play the blame game right now but this is all my fault. I am fucking stubborn and I think about myself and now Rex is in trouble. He has probably done some damage that I am not even aware of. I get up from the bed and my shirt is off. I see it on the floor, the blood all over it. This room is plain, there is just a bed and a little chair in the corner. The walls are white and blinding. I want to look for Blue. I leave the shirt on the floor and walk to the door, opening it in a hurry.
I expected to see the halls. The one where I stopped Rex but all I see is an empty space and bright blinding lights. The walls are as white as the room but it doesn’t look like this is real.
Because it is not real.
My wolf tells me. I close my eyes because this means I am not awake. This means the knife must have done more damage to me than I expected.
Shit.
I shouldn’t be sleeping right now.
Blue needs me right now. I need to make sure everything is okay. I will not just stay asleep for another hundred years. I run down the bright light, maybe if I keep running, I will get out of here. I keep running but nothing happens. I don’t know how long I run for, I don’t know where I think I am running to but after a point, I give up and sit on the floor. It is cold and for the first time since I woke up, I feel completely alone. I have had Blue and Rex all this while and I have gotten used to them. A world where we are not together doesn’t exist.
A tear falls to my brown shorts. I wipe my eyes because this is not the time to cry. I need to be strong. I told Blue that I was going to make it up to him but here I am. All alone in this world unable to go back to them.
"Gyles,’’ I hear the voice and I recognize it immediately.
I get up to my feet immediately, my eyes wide from the figure in front of me. There is a smile on his face. I see the joy in his eyes. This is the last person I want to see. There is so much unresolved anger inside me with him. I have been trying to make myself hate him for the things he did to me but no matter how many times I said those words in my head—I just couldn’t hate him.
"Roger,’’ I call his name out and I feel the ache in my chest. I turn away from him immediately because I don’t have anything to say to him. I don’t want to get involved with him anymore. I am happy with Blue and Rex. Things are going smoothly, I am trying to make it work with them. I don’t want him here reminding me of all the things that we had. The things that we could have had if he didn’t ruin it all with his hate.
Unlike the last time I saw him, he is young. He is the boy I remember. The one I loved with my whole heart. Why is this happening right now? Have I missed him so much that I am now dreaming about him?
"Gyles,’’ he calls my name again. I close my eyes because I want to wake up from this dream. I want to go back to the people that matter to me. I hear his footsteps and he walks closer to me. "Gyles, look at me,’’ he breathes out.
My heart is throbbing right now. All the feelings I have for him are trying to crawl back. The memories I shared with him. I don’t see the point of this. "Please look at me,’’ he begs.
I let out a sigh of frustration and open my eyes slowly. I don’t know what he has to say but all I care about are the two guys that I left behind. Roger is my past. The darkness that he left is immense and something I want to let go of.
Let go of it then.
My wolf is the only companion that I have. He is the only one that is with me right now. How do I let go of all the anger inside me? Remembering all the things he did. I hate him even more.
"I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want this to be real.’’ I seethe out angrily.
He smiles "You brought me here, so you must have some things to say to me.’’
I shake my head because that can’t be true. There is no way in hell I did this on my own. This must be some sick game he is playing. He is trying to manipulate me.
I won’t let him win.
"I would never bring you to my head. After all the things you did. You have some fucking nerve,’’ I yell very loudly. The sound of my voice echoes back to me.
"I know. I know I am the monster in your story. I know everything and this is not in your head. This is real." He tells me.
Why is he the boy I remember? Why isn’t he the man that I have come to hate? The one that hurt all those people. The one that is called Cassius.
"This is not real. You are not real,’’ I tell him because it is better to deny than be honest. I will not accept this because he is the last person that I want to be talking to. I need to wake up and make sure Rex and Blue are okay.
There has to be a way out of here.
"There is a thin line between life and death. Right now, you are in the middle of that line."
I furrow my brows in confusion, unsure of what he is saying. "Why are you young? This isn’t how you died." I ask him.
"Because this is who you wanted to see. The boy that meant the world to you, not the monster that I became."
I hate that even with my heart belonging to Blue and Rex, I still think about Roger. I wonder about the life we could have had if things were different. Things would have been happier and easier but there is no time to dwell on the what-ifs.
"Why would I want to see you? I am happy, I have moved on. I have two beautiful people out there that will give me the world if I asked."
He nods "I know that. I am in my own hell. Your happiness is my own hell.’’
I frown, so he wants me to be sad? Does he want me to be like him? Does he want me to become the monster that he was and finish off what he started?
"That is not what I want. Your happiness is also my heaven.’’ He breathes out confusing me the more. I let out a soft breath because I want to get out of here and it seems like I wouldn’t wake up so easily.
"Why am I here?’’ I ask him again, this is my way of telling him to just get to the point. Let me know what I need to do to leave.
He smiles "You are the only one that knows. Look inside you and find out why out of all the people you could have called, you called me."
This is some bullshit but I also know that I will have to face this, no matter what.
Here we go.
