Chapter 266: Truly let go to move on

Gyles.

I walk by his side because he said there was a reason why I brought him and I don’t know the reason yet. I don’t know what I need to do to wake up. The longer I stay here, the more worried and agitated I get. Here I am in another sleep state in my life, unable to go back to the people I want. Unable to be with the people I love.

"You can’t keep staring at me, tell me why I am here—fuck, tell me why you are here.’’

There is still a smile on his face. He looks very happy and this confuses me. What would make him happy right now? He has to know that I don’t plan on staying here with him. I have to go back to my people. The ones that matter to me right now.

"I don’t know why you are here. You are the only one that has the answer to that question,’’ his smile widens. He is amused by this situation. "Is there anything you have to say to me?’’

"I hate you Roger,’’ I confess.

I don’t really hate him but I am so angry. Angry with him for all the things he did. He literally ruined my life. If he has been patient. If he had lived the life I told him to live, I would have looked for him. We would have had our happy ending. I know that things happen for a reason but the anger is still boiling inside me. I hate that he ruined our happiness with his very cold heart.

"I know,’’ the smile wipes out of his face and a solemn expression replaces it.

I sigh because this is very hard, if telling him how I feel is the only reason why I brought him here, then what is the point. I don’t feel any better. I don’t even care about this anymore. I am still angry, I will still hate him when I wake up.

"I am sorry,’’ he breathes out. What else could he even say? Does he even know what he did? Does he know why I hate him?

"Do you even know what you are apologizing for?" I raise a brow. We are walking in a straight line. There is really nowhere to go. This is just empty space but it feels all too familiar. I wish I could just go back to Blue’s room.

I don’t want to have regrets but I shouldn’t have gone to look for him. I have to learn to listen to others and not just do what I want. I have caused problems that I hope will be reversible.

"For hurting you, doing things to all those people. I think about it every day. I am reminded of all the pain I caused. You have to believe me when I say this. I regret it all. I wish I could have done things differently.’’

I believe him because I have always been able to read Roger’s eyes. I can tell a lot from his eyes. Right now there is a sadness in the depth of his eyes. The kind that will never go away. I can’t tell him that I forgive him because that won’t be sincere.

I don’t forgive him.

I hate that I will always be left with the memories of what he did to me. The kind of life he left me to live. For decades, I was alone. He basically left me to die and I know it was all unknown to him.

"You killed my father,’’ I blurted out. "How could you do that to me.’’

His eyes open and I watch him as he spaces out at that moment. He stiffens on his feet and I move closer to him, gazing into his eyes. I see the memories in the darkness of his pupils. The life he took away from me. I see myself in his eyes, I see my father and his pleas for mercy. It almost seems like he is seeing it all for the first time like he is realizing what he did.

I know it is too late. I know there is no going back to the past and the only way to be okay is to move from all the pain. Let the past go but I want him to suffer the way I suffered. When I came back to myself, I thought his death was an injustice.

I heard that he was a bad person. That he had done bad things but I didn’t care. I didn’t want him to die. I didn’t want to lose him. I wanted the life I had dreamed of with him and the wolves were taking it all from me.

Now I don’t even want to think about him, I don’t even want to remember all the love we shared. The good times can’t make up for all the bad things he did.

He ruined my life.

I watch him as he comes to again, I watch him as he falls to my knees. The regret in his eyes, the pain from the realization that his revenge was pointless. I see it all in the eyes of the boy I once loved, not the man I have come to hate.

Maybe this is exactly what I wanted.

To see him suffer as much as I am suffering.

Tears fall out of his eyes as he squeezes his hands into fists. He is trembling and I don’t even feel any remorse. I want him to suffer. This is not even enough.

"I am so sorry Gyles. I am so sorry.’’ he cries still on the floor.

I shake my head because apologies won’t help me. Apologies wouldn’t bring all those people back to me. They won’t make things better.

Apologies are just a way to make the guilty feel better about themselves. He wants me to forgive him, he wants to let go of the pain and move on but I will not give him the satisfaction. I will not let him think his actions are forgiven.

"I hate you, Roger. I will never forgive you,’’

He looks up at me. "I know, maybe this is not about forgiveness, maybe this is about letting go of it all and moving on.’’ His eyes are red and blotchy. I like that I made him cry. I like that he is suffering from me.

"Moving on means forgetting and I don’t want to forget,’’ I seethe out those words with so much sincerity. I want to always remember that he hurt me. I want to always know.

"Sometimes in life, you need to let go of a lot to be happy,’’ I hear the voice before I see the person and we both turn around. I see the woman as she appears out of thin air. She is dressed in a long overflowing white dress. Her hair is jet black and long. Her eyes are the brightest blue I have ever come across. There is just something about her that proclaims a majestic shine.

"Let go of it all Gyles. That is the only way you will be truly happy,’’ she smiles as she stops in front of me. Roger stands up from the floor and stands beside me.

"Who are you?’’ I ask curiously.

Her smile widens "I am Selene and I am here to help you."

I don’t know what she means by that but I want to feel better. I want to stop feeling the ache in my chest. I want the help if she can give me.

Chapter 267: Shield you from the world

Beau.

I hear him move around on the bed and my eyes open instantly. He turns to me with a smile on his face. The kind that melts my heart. He is still walking on eggshells around me. We haven’t really gotten back on track but things are better than they were. He hasn’t told me why he changed his mind—I mean, you don’t just change your mind about something so crucial that quickly.

"Morning,’’ he manages. I pull him into my arms and his smile widens. My face is an inch away from him and as I lean in for a kiss, he stifles away from me playfully "I haven’t brushed my teeth yet,’’ he giggles which just makes me push for it more.

"I don’t care,’’ I tell him as my lips rest on his for a gentle kiss. He moans into my mouth and what was supposed to be innocent, turns into a full-on make-out session. We haven’t been intimate for a couple of days and at first, I thought it was because he wasn’t in the mood but after his confession, I knew he didn’t want me to see his body. It had to do with the pregnancy. I know it is not going to be easy. This whole thing is new for the two of us and he is the one that is affected by it but I will stick by his side so hard that he wouldn’t be able to push me away.

I slide my tongue into his mouth and he moans even louder, suddenly reaching for my shorts. I don’t know if this is a good idea right now but there is no time where I will refuse him if he wants me. Right now, I can feel him pressed against me and he wants me.

"Is this okay?’’ I ask him with heavy breaths.

His eyes open and he nods immediately "Yeah,’’ I watch him as he pulls away from me slightly and takes off his shirt. This is the first time I am seeing him shirtless in a while. Realizing these things just make me understand him even more. He has been insecure about his body and I didn’t even notice. I was in my head a lot and I didn’t focus on him.

I have to do better. I have to be better. My eyes dart to his chest, he doesn’t try to cover up or hide. He is giving me permission to look at him. I lower my gaze to his tummy, just for a second and then back to him. His cheeks are red and flushed. He is embarrassed.

"You can look at it if you want,’’ he smiles at me.

I don’t know what I should be looking for but my hand slides to his lower stomach and I rest it on it. He closes his eyes and rests his back on the bed. He is still shy. I don’t want to push him into anything he is uncomfortable with. There is no real significant change in his body. He is still the same and I get that it is early.

"Does it feel weird?’’ I ask him.

He opens his eyes and then shakes his head "I don’t feel anything. I have been so self-conscious about it all this while, but nothing has happened yet.’’ he mutters.

I understand him completely. There is one thing I have and it is pride. I get what he meant when he said that he didn’t want to be the one to carry our babies. I was acting like I would have handled it better than he did when now that I think about it. I would have done the same thing.

I would have let my pride get the best of me. I lean forward until his face is in front of me "You are fucking beautiful. You will always be beautiful,’’ I kiss the top of his head gently.

He scoffs "Beautiful is not a term I would have liked,’’ there is a smile on his face.

"Attractive, sexy?’’

He laughs "That’s better,’’ he agrees finally. I like that we are okay now, I like that things are not tense anymore and we can talk about this "I am here for you. We are in this together,’’ I assure him.

He nods his head "I know,’’ at that moment, I smash my lips to him for a kiss. This time we don’t pull apart. We only focus on each other and as he helps me take off my clothes, I do the same for him until we are both naked and ready for each other.

"Are you sure about this?’’ I ask him as I lean into him feeling all parts of his body, the way I usually do. His breath is heavy and his eyes are on me, dark and longing. It has been too long and my patience is completely thin. I doubt I will be able to last long today. He takes a deep breath and then nods his head slowly, giving me the permission I need. I go into him slowly, making sure I don’t hurt him. His eyes close immediately and I feel him shiver against me.

Damn, I love this man so much.

How would I even survive without him? He grabs me roughly, probably trying to control his screams. All I can feel is him. The warmth of his body, sweat trickles from his face and falls to his chest. I grab his right leg to open him up even more and he moans out loudly. It doesn’t take long for our movement to be in sync. Me grinding into him and him pushing out to get me in deeper. The sounds that travel around the room can probably be heard from everywhere but we don’t stop.

I don’t want to stop and he doesn’t either.

"More,’’ he shouts into my mouth. I obey him by going even faster. His hands move up to my back and I feel his grip as he tries to get me to go even faster.

We keep going until I feel him stiffen against me and spills on my stomach, with one more thrust, I cum inside him, laying my claim all over again.

I stay in the same position for a couple of seconds because I don’t want to let go of this. This space we are in is happy and calming. His eyes are closed, his breathing is heavy. I like it when I make him feel this way.

His stomach makes a sound and he opens his eyes instantly. He is hungry "I should get you something to eat,’’ I pull out of him because his satisfaction is the most important thing to me.

He smiles "Isn’t this weird?’’ he asks.

I furrow my brow "Not at all. This is perfect." I tell him. The fact that he is eating and doing things I do, is not weird to me. I plan on giving him everything thing he wants.

I walk into the bathroom and grab a bowl, filling it up with warm water. I clean myself up before walking back into the room. He is still on the bed. That dreamy expression is still plastered on his face. I clean him up and he watches me, probably enjoying this a lot.

"You are being sweet,’’ he manages.

I laugh "Oh you haven’t seen anything. I am going to make sure you get everything you want. You won’t have to lift a finger for the next nine months."

He burst out in laughter "Ah, how do you know it is nine months? This isn’t a normal pregnancy." He reminds me. We haven’t taken him for a checkup yet. Maybe I just don’t want to overwhelm him and stuff but eventually, I will have to take him to the healers in the pack. We will have to announce this and let everyone know.

I guess that is why he is so embarrassed. The fact that people will talk. There might be some people that will not accept this is the community. I know a lot of people are over the fact that I am gay and my mate is a male but other people never really accepted it. They just see it and remain quiet because there is nothing they can do. These same people won’t accept this easily. They will be judgmental and rude about it.

I have to shield Lanis from all that.

I will be the best husband to him and the best father to my babies. I will make sure that he doesn’t suffer through this. If I have to take his pain, then I would.

"However long this is, I will make sure that you enjoy it,’’ I smile and he rolls his eyes. I still feel hesitation from him about this. I mean, he won’t just accept this in one day. He has to come accustomed to it.

"I doubt I will enjoy this but I don’t mind a little pampering,’’ he sits up on the bed and wraps his arms around my neck "I want food,’’ his teeth show up with a smile.

I plant a kiss on his lips "Aye, Aye captain.’’

Chapter 268: The truth hurts

Blue.

"How is she?’’ I walk into the room and Levine sighs loudly. Her eyes are red and she has dark circles around them. It has been two days. Nothing has changed. Gyles is still in his sleep state. I have been pumping his veins with blood. Maybe if he has enough of blood, he will wake up. Rex is awake and very scared. I have not been allowed to see him. The elders set up a meeting for tomorrow. They are deciding on what will be done.

Everyone is taking matters into their own hands.

The fact that mother is still not awake, is the major problem. I can’t convince the people here because they don’t trust me. No one likes me, no one thinks I can handle this place. I am just the outcast that is related to the chief.

"Still the same but the bleeding has stopped. I contained it all with the healing potion,’’ she tells me. I want to believe that she is better but I don’t think this time will end well. If she doesn’t wake up, I don’t know how I will protect Gyles and Rex. I don’t know if I will have enough power to protect them.

"Do you think she will wake up?’’ I ask her because I need some good news.

Once the meeting is confirmed and they make a decision, we will have to do whatever they decide on and I know they will want to execute Rex. They wouldn’t want to investigate it or find out what happened. As far as they are concerned a stranger came into the estate with a plan to kill the chief. The decision of who is to take over my mother would be made by the elders. They don’t see me as a contender—not like I even want that but right now, I wish I had the power to get them out of this mess. If only I had taken the coven seriously. If only I had done the things I needed to do, all this wouldn’t be happening.

"Right now I can’t tell, this is bad Blue. Very bad.’’ She tells me, I know what she means, there is one thing I can feel in this room. One thing alone and that is how out of this world she is. Usually, a person’s aura is strong. Like Levine’s aura is here, on this world but my mother seems half here and half on the other side, which just means, she might not make it.

Rex will not even forgive himself. With all that has happened, he will never let go of this and that is what breaks me the most.

"Levine I need your help,’’ I manage. I am desperate and there is no one I can talk to about this. There is no one that can help me with this.

"Is it about the boy?’’ she asks.

Levine is my mother’s sister, my aunt and her best friend. She is the only one that can even try to convince the elders on sparing Rex. I don’t want to have to break him out of the cell. I don’t want to have to worry about people coming after him. I am so scared that bringing him into my life might have ruined his chances of happiness.

"Yes, he is not who they are saying he is. They want to execute him.’’

She sighs "Your mother mentioned some things before it happened. I am so sure that he didn’t do this on his own. He wasn’t present. Almost like he was on a spell.’’

I don’t even have any doubts about it. I am so sure that someone did this to Rex. The man I love wouldn’t even hurt a fly, let alone a whole person.

"You need to be present at the meeting. I need you to tell them the truth."

She shakes her head "I am sorry Blue, right now, your mother is the only one I can focus on. i don’t know how I will fare if she doesn’t make it."

As usual, Levine doesn’t care about anyone but my mother. She doesn’t care about me. I knew not to expect a lot from all these people. I knew that it would only leave me disappointed. I told her, I begged her not the have this party and she chose to anyways. As usual, she just had to be stubborn. I leave the room and walk out of the house. In a couple of hours, Rex’s fate will be sealed. I need to find a way to get him out of the community before that happens. I have the strength. I have the powers to break him out.

I just need to see him, make sure he is okay.

I walk to the dungeon and another guard is on shift today. I don’t even know who he is but I am pretty sure he knows me. "I can’t let you in,’’ he warns me immediately.

"I need to see the prisoner.’’

"I have been authorized not to let anyone in,’’ I knew that would happen. To everyone here, Rex is dangerous. He is someone that everyone should be wary of. To me, he is sweet, he is gentle and caring.

"I am Analise’s son. He hurt my mother, so what do you think will happen if you let me in to see him?’’ I ask him in hopes that grants me my request. He looks around, like he just believes that something would go wrong but I don’t have any plans of getting him out today. I just need to know what they will decide first and then see if I can try to convince them that he is not the bad person they are making him out to be. I need to get enough proof that he didn’t do this on his own.

I want to make them see that magic was involved.

"This is not a good idea man,’’ he breathes out but I see him giving in.

"I promise, just a couple of minutes with him.’’

His sigh is loud and I smile gratefully that he is letting me do this. "Go in,’’ he tells me. To him, I am the victim, so he wouldn’t think that my intention is Saving Rex. I should want to kill him for hurting my mother. I walk into the darkroom and he is seated on the cold ground. His head is on his knees, his hands are over them.

He looks up immediately—almost like he can feel my presence. His eyes open wide and he runs to the cage "Blue,’’ he cries my name. I feel the pain in his voice. The fact that I can’t even do anything to help him right now makes me hate myself.

"What is going on?’’ he asks me as I grab his hands through the spaces in the cage.

"It’s a long story. I need to know if you’re okay,’’ I ask him because that is my major concern. He closes his eyes and for the first time since I walked in here, I see that he has lost weight. I am pretty sure he hasn’t eaten anything.

"I am going to ger you out of here,’’ I tell him.

He furrows his brows in confusion "Why am I here in the first place. What did I do?’’

I don’t know how to tell him this and I don’t know if it is a good idea to tell him what he did—especially since it is not his fault. He was unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and that is why he is suffering for this.

"You didn’t do anything. This is not your fault." I don’t want to tell him like it is because I don’t want that to be the only thing on his mind. If he finds out that he hurt Gyles, he might never forgive himself.

"What did I do Blue,’’ he asks me, this time a lot colder. I know this can be frustrating. Not knowing and being accused but I don’t want to be the one to tell him. I wish I could shelter it for the rest of his life. I don’t want him to think about this day and think about that.

"Tell me Blue,’’ he demands, leaving me no choice.

As the words leave my lips and I explain everything to him. I see the pain, it is almost like a shift. From not knowing to hurting.

I just made him hurt and I don’t know how to fix that.

Chapter 269: Let go of it all

freёweɓnovel_com

Gyles.

"How can you help me and who are you?’’ I ask. Roger is still here but he is very quiet. I don’t know what is going on but I will take waking up over all this. I am tired of being here, tired of being asleep and unsure of what is going on with Rex.

I don’t like the way I left and I need to come back to it. I need to wake up and leave this limbo-land.

"No one brought you here Gyles. You came here on your own?’’

My eyes dart to Roger and he looks at me sadly "Why would I come here. I left my life behind. The people I love, they need me right now."

She smiles warmly. The kind of smile that makes me want to trust her. She seems very gentle and caring. A person that people could trust easily but I don’t trust her. I have come to learn that trusting people always let you down.

"It’s up to you if you want to wake up. No one is stopping you here,’’ she informs me.

I frown "I want to leave.’’

"How guilty do you feel right now Gyles, I want you to be honest with yourself.’’

I furrow my brows because she is talking to me like I even understand what she is talking about. I have no clue what she is saying. "Guilty about what?" I ask her.

The smile remains plastered on her face "Guilty about anything. Your life, mates, the people around you. Just think and tell me what you feel?"

To me, it seems like she already knows what I feel but she wants me to admit it. Do I feel guilty? Yeah. I feel guilty about a lot of things, things that I don’t want to admit to anyone. I hate that I exist. I hate that I am who I am today.

I shouldn’t be alive right now. I have caused the demise of too many people.

"There you go, now say it out loud. Tell me how you feel?’’

I don’t know why she wants to know and I don’t even know who she is. She told me her name, but it doesn’t ring a bell. She is a stranger to me and she wants me to open up to her.

"I am not a stranger,’’ she reads my mind.

This woman is invading my private thoughts. She is trying to show me her strengths but it doesn’t even faze me. I remain quiet because the stubbornness in me is coming to play. The smile is still on her face as she walks closer to me and stops in front of me.

"I know you don’t trust me—you don’t trust anyone and I could leave you here to figure things out for yourself but I know you need to go back. Your mates need you right now."

She grabs both of my shoulders and I feel a pull that suddenly makes the room spin. I close my eyes as the spinning becomes faster and in an instant, the spinning stops. I open my eyes and the room is dark, unlike where we were before. Selene is still here and that fucking smile is still on her face. It is almost like she can’t get upset—not saying I want to see her upset but no one is this happy all the time.

"Where are we?’’ I ask her, turning towards a cage in the room. I see someone on the floor, my heart beats for the person before I even know it is. The only people that my heart beats for are Blue and Rex. This just means, this is one of them. I run over to the cage and try to grab the bars but my hands pass through them and I fall into the cage. Then I see him clearly. He is crouched on the ground, he is shivering and crying.

Fucking hell.

What is going on?

"Rex,’’ I call his name even though I know he probably can’t even hear me. I am not even here. This is just Selene trying to get me to open up to her. She is using one of my weaknesses to make me trust her, this just makes me angrier. I don’t know what happened to him but for him to be in a cell, he must have hurt someone.

"Baby,’’ I call, wishing at this moment, he can hear me. Wishing he would look up and see me.

"Why am I here?’’ I turn to her.

"I wanted to show you why you need to get this over with—why you need to go back.’’ This doesn’t make any sense. If I really need to go back, why won’t she just send me back?

"I want to go back. Please send me back,’’ I beg her because I can’t stand here and watch Rex hurting and no do anything. I am the one that brought him here in the first place. I am the reason why he is in this situation and I am not even helping him.

"That is guilt. You think this is your fault but it isn’t.’’

I turn to her as the tears fall from my face. She is trying to psychoanalyze me but that is not what I need. I need to go back to them. "Okay, I am guilty. Can I just go back to them now?’’ I beg her with so much desperation.

"I didn’t bring you here Gyles, you are here on your own and if I didn’t intervene you would never make it back.’’

The expression on her face is suddenly serious. This is the first time this night that I actually believe what she is saying.

"What do you mean?’’ I ask her wanting to know for sure.

"You don’t want to go back, Gyles. You are giving up and if you don’t fight, you might just never wake up."

I wipe the tears out of my eyes. I don’t know what she is saying. She can’t really think that I want to die. I have so much to live for. I have these two amazing guys that love me, they want to be with me, why would I want to leave that behind?

This makes no sense.

"I understand how you feel Gyles and I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think you needed me. I chose you to be one of my children. I gave you Blue and Rex because I know you need them. You needed a break and I gave that to you. Now it is up to you to help yourself. It is up to you to stop beating yourself up for everything that is happening and look forward to a bright future. You have to really let it all go.’’

My heart thuds against my chest.

How do I do all these things she is saying?

"What do ii have to do?’’ I ask her.

The smile returns to her face "All you have to do it wake up, be present in the lives of your mates."

She makes it sound so easy. How easy could it be?

Wake up, Gyles.

Wake up.

Chapter 270: Meeting the elders

Blue.

"Damn Gyles, I need you right now." I breathe out, squeezing his hand in mine tightly. I am a nervous wreck right now. In a couple of minutes, the elders will decide if I am fit enough to lead the coven and if Rex should be executed.

A part of me hopes that this all goes in my favour. I will gladly accept the title of chief, so I can protect Rex. I need the power to protect him right now. Messing with magic is a deadly game. I don’t want us to have to run for the rest of our lives. If he is wanted, they will put a bounty on his head. They will make sure they find him.

I don’t want to live that kind of life with them. I want them to be protected, I don’t want him to have to look over his shoulders for the rest of his life. I need a plan to make all this happen and that will only come if I am the next leader.

You never wanted this.

My wolf reminds me.

I didn’t want to be in this coven. I didn’t want to be part of this family. Now that is the only way I can save him.

Fuck.

My eyes stay on him. He is alive. I am grateful that he is but I just wish he would respond to me. The two people that give me strength are both indisposed right now. What I would take to see Gyles smile right now. Even if he just wakes up to cause trouble—I will be happy. His hands are cold, the coldest they have ever been. He is basically dead right now.

The door to my room opens and I pull away from him immediately. Levine walks into the room "They want to see you,’’ she tells me.

I knew it would come to this. I mean, they will make the decision on their own but they will seek advice from me. They will want to know what I think. Get more information on everything that happened. I want to be able to convince them that I can handle this. Would they really give a hybrid the chance to rule the coven?

I want to be optimistic but it seems like the odds are not in my favour. I glance at Gyles one last time and his eyes are still closed. I have been praying that the next time I would see him—he would be looking right back at me. All my wishes and silent prayers and nothing has happened. I stand up from the bed and walk over to the door.

"How is it looking?’’ I ask her because, at the end of it all, I need advice on what to say and do there. I know I have to be submissive. They are all elderly and they will demand utmost respect. I can’t even flare up in there. I have to show them that I am grown and more mature than in the past.

I haven’t really had a good track record with these people.

I wish that would change.

I wish I can win them over for Rex.

"Just tell them the truth. Do not leave anything out." She tells me.

I don’t know what truth she is talking about but I feel like the truth is relative. A lot about me makes me the weakest contender. They know it, Levine knows it. I just have to convince them that all I am thinking of is the coven.

We walk to the meeting room. Once in front of the door, I take a deep breath to gather my thoughts. This is the moment I will decide what to do. No matter the outcome of this, there is one thing that is sure. I will get them out of this situation, no matter what.

Levine lets go of me and I open the door slowly. I am prolonging the inevitable. I don’t want to be in the middle of their stares but the minute I walk into the room, I see them at the round table. They are six. Four women and two men.

The elders of the coven.

Magnus, Rand, Willow, Helena, Minerva, Aggie.

I have only been in the same room with the three of them once in my life. The initiation ceremony. The day I finally became one of them. That was the worst day of my life. The fact that some people were telling me I was one of them when it didn’t feel like I was, just made me even feel like more of an outcast.

"Come closer Blue,’’ Magnus says as he pulls his glasses up his nose to get a clearer view of me. Magnus is the oldest of them all. His skin is wrinkled and pale, his eyes are a brown shade of black, and his hair is long over his shoulders and as white as snow. I always thought he had a resemblance to the character Dumbledore from harry potter.

I take slow strides until I get to his front. He is the only one that has a gentle face amongst all of them.

"I still don’t see a reason why he is here,’’ Helena beseeches angrily.

She looks the angriest out of them all. I completely understand why she would be vexed right now but this is not my fault. I blame this all on my mother. I blame her relaxed attitude towards everything. I blame her for not listening to me. Not being prepared for what happened.

"How are you holding up with everything that has happened?’’ Magnus asks me calmly. His voice is deep and father-like.

I want to trust him but I don’t trust anyone in this coven. I don’t belong here and I will never open up to them and relax on how I feel.

"I am okay sir,’’ I tell him even though I feel like shit right now. To them, I have to be strong, I can’t show weakness. They need to believe that I can handle anything. Including losing my mother.

"Your mother might not make it,’’ Magnus continues. He is trying to get a reaction out of me.

"Your mate is responsible for that.’’

I open my eyes wide from the shock of his words. He knows about Rex. How does he know about that? How will I get out of this mess knowing they all know about me?

How will they accept me now?

I take a deep breath because right now is not the time to panic and worry. I have to stand strong and make them believe in me.

I have to do this for Rex and Gyles.
