Ch. 271..275: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 271-275

Chapter 271: The conclusion

Blue.

"Tell us why you brought Wolves into our sanctuary,’’ Rand asks me, it almost feels like he is scolding me. Blaming me for what happened. I want to shout to them that the person responsible for all this is probably someone in the community. I wish they would see that this doesn’t have anything to do with the wolves.

I am one of the fucking wolves.

"I wanted to introduce them to my mother,’’ I tell them even though that is pretty much a lie. I don’t want them to know that they came here on their own. I need them to look as innocent as possible.

"Did you get approval for this, knowing how we all feel about the wolves?’’

I close my eyes. They are acting like I am not one of THE WOLVES that they are talking about. They should just banish me if this is how they really feel. This is not the first time that this has happened to her. I mean, the only reason why I came back home is because she was poisoned. They didn’t hold a meeting because it wasn’t done by a wolf. Now that wolves are involved. They are taking things seriously.

Maybe this is the reason.

"He didn’t hurt her. This is not on him.’’ I tell them, unable to control the pitch of my voice. There is so much anger inside me. I am angry at the world right now, and the only people that can make me feel better are all in trouble.

How do I save them with all this anger inside me?

"What do you mean?" Magnus asks. He is the only one that is curious about this.

"Do not believe the boy Magnus. He will say anything to get the wolf out of this." Aggie speaks up. She is the scariest looking one of the bunch. Her hair is packed up in a bun, it is a dark grey unlike Magnus, and her eyes are grey with gold flecks in them. I have never seen her smile in all my life in the coven. I don’t even think she ever smiles.

"Well we didn’t bring him here to crucify him, we have to hear his side on things,’’ Magnus interjects calmly, his eyes are still on me. He is the only one that wants to listen to me. He is the only one that is not hammering on the fact that they are wolves. I don’t want them to focus on that. I want them to accept things with a clear vision. "Tell us what you think Blue,’’ he adds.

Not the way things always have been in this coven.

"She was poisoned a couple of days ago, that is why I came back home. Rex wasn’t here then. He is not the instigator of this attack.’’

He nods "Do you have any leads?’’

I shake my head "I was looking into it. Someone must have put a spell on him. There must have been some form of magic involved in this. We should check him properly, see what could have caused the hypnosis."

They are all watching me and the only one that has a semblance of belief in his eyes is Magnus and maybe Rand.

"Do you know the implications of what you are saying?’’ Minerva, one of the women speaks up. She is the youngest out of the bunch.

I nod because I have been thinking about it for a while, wondering if it could be possible. The only kind of magic that they could have used. The one that shouldn’t even be used in the coven.

"Yes."

She shakes her head and faces Magnus "The boy doesn’t know what he is saying. It is impossible.’’ She directs her denial at him.

Yeah, there is a possibility that I am just clouded by all the hurt from everything that has happened but they have to see things the way they really are. Rex has no reason to kill the leader of the coven. He is my mate. I know him a lot more than I even know my mother or the people in this estate. When I look into his eyes, I am connected to him. I feel the things he feels, I sense what he senses and there is no way he would want to kill my mother.

"Do you know the implications of what you are saying? This is a very great allegation.’’

I nod again "Rex was bewitched.’’ I decide. I am one hundred percent sure about that. He doesn’t remember what happened. He passed out immediately after and he is not the kind of person that would do something like that. I wish they would all just believe me.

"The only way that would be possible is with the use of dark magic. Are you telling me someone in the coven performed that kind of unacceptable magic?"

I nod.

Dark magic is prohibited. We were never even taught that kind of magic growing up. The only way people know that kind of magic is by learning it on their own.

Magnus stands up from his chair. He is dressed in a long robe. His hair is flowing over his shoulders. Right now, he looks very intimidating "Can you get to the bottom of this?’’ he asks me. I am the worst person to leave this to. All I care about is getting Rex out of this mess.

"I don’t know. I just know that we have the wrong guy,’’ I assure him. Rex is innocent.

"Your mother might die, she might not. Will you take on her place until it is decided?’’ she asks me.

This is everything I wanted. I wanted this power because I want to be able to protect him. "I am a wolf. You all know this. Are you saying you will accept me with my Lycan side?’’ I ask.

My eyes move, stopping on each of them for seconds. I want to see how they feel about this. Do they really accept this or is this just a way to push this to someone else?

"We know. You are the sole heir. The only son of Analise and that is what her mother would want.’’

I close my eyes for a second because there is no doubt in my mind. I need to do this. I need to protect them.

"Do you accept my mates?’’ I ask.

"It is not up to us. You must remain loyal to the coven."

I don’t know what that means but I will always be loyal to my mates. They are all I live for. They are the only ones that are important.

"I plan on protecting Rex.’’

Magnus nods "We are fine with that but you have to get the culprit. There must be salvage for sparing him."

I nod.

I will do all it takes to protect them.

Chapter 272: Coming around

Gyles.

I open my eyes and the room is empty. I am on Blue’s bed, his scent is strong and it takes a lot of strength to get up from the bed. I sit up and touch my stomach, the part that Rex stabbed. The pain is still there—maybe it is psychological because it has completely healed.

I get up from the bed and go in the direction of his closet. I remember everything from my sleep state. I remember seeing Rogers. I remember Selene. Just thinking about her is a sort of comfort to me. She gave me the courage to go on and even if I am doing this majorly for myself. I will think about her with every decision I make.

I remember Rex being in a cage-like some sort of fucking animal. He was crying and in so much pain. If Blue couldn’t get him out—I will. I put on a pair of shorts and a plain T-shirt and walk out of his room. the halls are empty. I don’t know where Rex is but I know he is in some sort of prison. I just have to find him. I don’t know the situation. I mean.

Talk to him with a mind link.

My wolf tells me. I have never used the mind link but I have heard about it. I don’t know how to channel all my energy into my mind.

Just think about him. Picture where he is.

I am in the middle of the halls as I close my eyes. All I need to do is picture him. I know where he is. The dream I had suddenly seems so real to me. I know for a fact that it wasn’t a figment of my imagination. It happened.

I take steady breaths as all my thoughts go to him. Maybe this is me being stubborn. Maybe this is what Blue is always talking about. It might not be a good idea but I am sure I can get him out.

Finally, I see him. He is still crouched on the floor. His eyes are open but he looks even weaker than when I saw him. Has even fucking eaten anything? How long have I been out?

"Rex,’’ I call his name. He looks up and I smile because he can hear me.

"Gyles?’’ he calls my name. I hear footsteps and a guard walks over to him.

"Keep it, quiet mister,’’ he hits the cage, and the anger inside me intensifies. They are talking to him like he is some kind of criminal. He hasn’t done anything.

"Rex, I am coming to get you out of there,’’ I tell him.

"How?’’ he whispers probably not wanting to upset the guard any further. I take deep breaths because this is all new to me. I don’t really know how it works. A mind link is a connection between wolves. If I am connected to him, then I can find him. "I don’t know where you are,’’ I mutter quietly "I need to find you,’’ I breathe out desperation crawling out of my tone. Maybe it is all the guilt I am feeling but at the end of this, it is all my fault.

I inhale and exhale for a couple of minutes, trying to reach him. trying to find that link that will connect us together. after a couple of tries, I see it. a smile sprawls to my face as I run out of the house. I have to hide and dodge everyone because I really don’t know the situation with this place. I hate that the minute we stepped into his home, this happened. I know something happened to Rex. we were in a place full of witches, someone must have done something to him. I just need to get him out of here first.

I get to the entrance of the building. The closer I get, the deeper I feel. I can feel him and I haven’t even seen him.

I am coming baby.

I assure him. there is a man in front of the entrance. He is dressed in a pair of jeans and a navy-blue shirt and black combat boots. He looks to be around six feet tall, with muscles and a stern face. The only thing I can do to enter this place is to compel him. I will compel everyone until I get to Rex. he is my only concern right now.

You feel guilty.

My wolf tells me.

I stop in front of the man and he raises a brow "what do you want?’’ he asks me coldly.

I take a deep breath because it should be easy "I want to see the prisoner."

He laughs, "Do you know how many we got in here. You should be more specific,’’ he tells me casually like he would let me see him if I asked.

"Let me in.’’

This time, I use my compulsion. That look in his eyes, the one that happens whenever I control someone, I see it in his eyes. He shifts for me immediately and I enter the dark house. I don’t get why there are no lights but I keep walking as my wolf senses that I am closer to him. I don’t stop walking until I get to another door. There is another Guard in front of this one. This time, I don’t even bother with small talk.

"Open the door,’’ I tell him blatantly.

He opens the door immediately and I walk into the room I remember. The room where they kept him. I see him immediately and it doesn’t take anything for me to break the chains on the door. I am pretty sure he could have gotten out of here if he really wanted to.

"Rex,’’ I call him. he looks up at me and stands up from the floor. I walk into the cage and help him up to his feet. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me in for a hug.

"You are okay,’’ he manages.

I take a deep breath because I am pretty sure he is feeling guilty for what happened "I am okay,’’ I assure him.

We stay like that for a couple of seconds. I feel all the emotions that I didn’t think would be possible. I have regrets. I regret making him come here. I regret being controlling and manipulative, being the selfish man, I have been. If only I had listened to him—not done what was good for only me, he wouldn’t be hurting this bad.

"I need to get you out of here,’’ I pull apart from him gently. His eyes are red, tears are welling in them.

"I hurt you, I am so sorry,’’ he manages in between sobs.

I shake my head immediately "This is not your fault. This is not on you. we need to leave this place before there is more damage."

"What about Blue?’’ he asks.

I am worried about him too but this is his home. He will be fine as long as we are out of here. That is the most important thing. I need to get Rex out of here before he is hurt.

Chapter 273: The ache in my chest

Rex.

Everything happens so fast. He takes me out of the estate like we are on the run. He doesn’t even think about Blue for even a second. I know what this means, he is only thinking about me. almost like he is afraid something would happen to me. I know he blames himself but I am the one that hurt him.

I am the one that almost killed him.

He is acting like he isn’t upset and maybe he isn’t but I hurt him and Blues mother. How do I forgive myself?

My phone rings in my pocket as he drives the car. He said he couldn’t drive but, at that moment, he is doing the exact thing he said he couldn’t. Gyles is very smart and I guess it was just a matter of time.

"Don’t answer it." he breathes out, his eyes focused on the road. I know who is calling. Blue must be worried but I am so exhausted that I don’t even reach for the phone. I haven’t eaten anything in two days. My wolf has been so quiet. I mean, this is all my fault but I didn’t expect him to be so silent—especially after finally hearing more from him.

"It’s probably Blue,’’ I tell him.

He sighs and I watch him as he runs his hands through his hair "Blue is in a mess. I am so sure of it. I think he needs to focus on his mother right now,’’ he tells me like he has thought this through.

Blue said he was going to get me out of the mess I put myself in "You know this isn’t your fault, right?’’ he blurts out. I raise a brow because he just read my mind. He is invading my thoughts. The only place I can feel all this guilt is eating me up.

"Whose fault is it?’’ I ask him wanting to know what he thinks of this situation.

The fact that he loves me is really clouding his judgment.

"I don’t know, but something happened to you. you would never just hurt me.’’ he analyses. I have been thinking about it and I can’t understand how I would hurt him. my heart aches just thinking about it and I just can’t believe I was the same person that stabbed him.

"But I did. That is all that matters. I thought I didn’t have it in me to hurt anybody but I hurt two people and one might die.’’ I want to listen to him and believe that this is not my fault but at the end, it is.

"You don’t even fucking remember,’’ he shouts almost frustrated. He can’t be frustrated because of me...right?

"Where are we going?’’ I ask him wanting to change the topic. His eyes are fixed on the road as he answers me.

"I have no clue. I just want to get us as far away from that place as possible and then we can get somewhere to rest and then you can drive us back home."

The fact that he is calling the pack home makes me feel happy but I don’t even have the energy to be happy right now.

"What about Blue?’’

He sighs.

"I don’t know. I just need to make sure you are okay?’’

"What about him. he would be worried.’’

I know this is not the time to think about that. I have to think about myself for now. I don’t know what would have happened to me if I had stayed there. It didn’t seem like blue had any power in there. I mean, if he did, they wouldn’t have locked me up...right?

"I just want him to know that we are okay?’’ I manage because, at the end of it all, I will still think about him, I will still want to make sure he doesn’t worry too much.

"I will call him when we get to a motel, okay?’’ he glances at me and gives me a warm smile. His way of telling me that everything will be okay.

I rest my head on the seat as he continues the drive. My heart has been beating heavily, the worry filling up in my chest. I don’t know but it seems like something terrible is still going to happen and I don’t even know what it is. I don’t want to worry Gyles any further but I keep thinking that something will go wrong.

I don’t know what it is but I just still don’t feel like myself. There is this ache in my chest, almost like I am in a prison in my own body and I don’t know how to get out of it. I don’t know what to do to make this feeling go away.

We get to the motel and Gyles grabs my wallet from the console and walks in. I sit in the car because I don’t even have the energy to follow him. the wait in the silence of the car is killing. My phone keeps ringing and the more the vibrate trickles me in my shorts, the more I get frustrated. After a couple of rings, I bring it out and his name is on the screen.

Blue.

All this wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t come here. I wouldn’t be in this mess, suffering in silence.

I slide the button and place it on my ear.

"Rex, where are you,’’ he calls my name. all I can sense is the pain in his voice. making the fact that we left him all alone haunts me even more.

"I am with Gyles."

I hear the relief in his voice but it is just for a second. "He woke up, fuck that is a relief. Where are you guys now?’’

At the end of it all, he is still just worried about us and this makes this even more of a jerk move. I don’t know what to tell him.

"We’re going home,’’ I tell him because that is the truth. The fact that we are going back to the pack without him must make him feel even worse.

"Oh, I want to check you. make sure you are okay. Something terrible happened to you and we can’t ignore it.’’

The fact that I have this weight in my chest.

"I am fine now.’’

He sighs through the phone. I want to take him in my arms. I want to feel the relief that comes from being in his arms "I know but I need to make sure. Can you come back?’’ he asks.

"They will lock me up again.’’

"I won’t let that happen. You have to trust me."

It’s not that I don’t trust him. I am just so scared and right now the fear seems to be wining. I know he is right to want to make sure that I am okay. He has every right to be but Gyles wouldn’t listen right now.

"Just tell me where you are,’’ he adds.

"Okay."

I don’t know if this is a good idea but I do trust him and It feels like he is the only one that can help me right now. just thinking that something isn’t right must mean something. I don’t want to ignore this because I don’t want to end up hurting Gyles.

I don’t want that at all.

I send him a quick text of our location.

Gyles walks back to the car with a set of keys "Come on baby," he urges me with a faint smile but I see the tiredness in his eyes.

I just need everything to be okay.

Chapter 274: Whatever makes you happy

Gyles.

I open the door to the room and Blue is staring at me with a somewhat angry expression on his face. Rex is in the shower. Looking out of the window, the sky is dark and night is here. I didn’t answer any of his calls because I didn’t want him to come and look for us.

"Blue,’’ I manage because I am not really ready to face him. He walks into the room and I take a step back. Unexpectedly, he pushes himself into me and then smashes his lips to mine. Caught off guard my eyes remain open because it hasn’t fully registered that he is kissing me. After everything, the first thing he does is kiss me.

I don’t know how to handle it.

His hands grab my waist and my mind goes blank from the touch. I never really understood the power of a kiss until this moment. Not thinking about anything but the person attached to you. His tongue slides into my mouth and I let out a soft breath to express my emotions. My heart is racing, my palms are sweaty as he closes the door with one of his hands and pushes me to it. He presses to me and I moan out in pure bliss as he slides his tongue into my mouth. At this moment, I want more. I want him more than anything. I missed him and I didn’t even realize it. after a couple of seconds of heavy making out, he pulls away from me slightly and rests his head on my forehead. His breathing is heavy, his eyes are closed and my heart is still pounding.

"Thank God you are alive,’’ he breathes out finally. I don’t recognize his voice in this moment. The breathing, the huskiness. He sounds like a different person but all he cares about is the fact that I am alive.

"I am sorry,’’ I blurt out because I know a big part of him must be upset with me. he might want to act like this is not my fault but, in the end, it is all my fault. I am the cause of all the problems. The reason we are where we are.

He furrows his brow and for a second, I think he is genuinely confused "What are you sorry for Gyles. I messed everything up,’’ he speaks up but I just can’t believe him right now. He has done nothing but somehow, it seems like we are all choosing to take the blame. The door to the bathroom opens and Rex walks out but there is no surprise on his face. It almost seems like he knew he was coming.

"You called him,’’ I figure it out before they say anything.

He has a towel wrapped around his waist as Blue detaches from me and walks over to him. He pulls him into his arms immediately and my heart melts at the scene in front of me. I see the tears as they fall from his face. The pain he has been holding in all day. I haven’t been enough for him and I know that. Just the same way I have needed Blue all day. I didn’t think I could handle it all on my own. A big part of me wanted to call him, beg him to follow us back to the community. It seems like that will always be a better option for a home that his real home.

"Get dressed okay, I need to take you back with me,’’ he breathes out.

"What?’’ I blurt out because I can’t just easily accept that. They both turn to me. Rex looks terrified, Blue on the other hand is back to being angry with me. Yeah, I know this is my fault but I have to protect Rex. I have to make sure we make it back to the community in one piece.

"I need to take him back to the estate,’’ he repeats like somehow that clarifies everything. I walk over to them and shake my head immediately.

"You can’t do that. It is not safe for him there. He needs to go back home. We need to go back home.’’ I tell him.

He sighs and then let’s go of Rex, facing me. His eyes are tired and there is a look of frustration in them. The fact that I am the cause of this expression just makes me sad.

"Do you even know what is going on?’’ he asks me.

"I know that your people locked him up. I know something happened to him in that place and we need to get him as far away from that place as possible.’’

He nods "I get that but Rex isn’t really himself right now. I need to make sure that he doesn’t hurt anyone again.’’

"How do you plan on doing that?’’

"Someone used magic on him. We have to make sure he is alright before I let him go back to the pack. You have to let me do this.’’

I get what he is talking about but I can’t stand to see Rex in that cage and I know for sure that he can’t either. So why does he have to take him back to the coven? "Why can’t you just check him here, why does he have to go back?"

I know in his eyes, I am being stubborn again. The usual stubborn Gyles but I am carrying the blame for what happened solely and I don’t want it to repeat itself. I need to get him back home, just as I brought him here.

"You have to trust me, Gyles. I will never let anything happen to him," he pauses and then runs his hands through his hair "I will never let anything happen to you too. Just give me a chance to prove myself. Can you do that?’’

He is promising now but at the end of the day, it seems like a lot of things in that place are out of his control. Almost like he doesn’t have a say in anything. I don’t want to be stubborn to him. I want to do and say things that will make him happy and even though I am still unsure about everything, I want to make him happy.

I love him.

"Okay.’’

Chapter 275: Complete feelings with you guys by my side.

Blue.

I know it is a big risk to bring him back to the place that once condemned him. I know Rex and I know he doesn’t want to go but he will also do what I want. That is the kind of person he is. From the first time I met him, I knew. I saw it in his eyes. The desperation to please everyone around him. I am not saying he doesn’t have his own opinions but most times, he likes to follow. I am glad he is listening to me right now because Gyles is a lot to handle.

His personality is the complete opposite of rex, so getting him to finally agree to this was a lot harder. I don’t actually want them to come back with me but I made a promise to the elders. The only this can end is by finding out who did this.

"We should stay here for the night and then go back to the coven," I suggest and Gyles agrees with a low grunt. He doesn’t want to do what I want but I backed him up against a wall.

I know he blames himself for everything that happened and he is trying to make up for it but at the end of it all, it is my fault. I am the cause of everything. Rex is the first one on the bed. There are two beds in the room which just means I will have to choose who to sleep next to. I don’t want to have to choose between them but Rex needs me right now. He has been awfully quiet all evening. Something is bothering him and he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Gyles goes to one of the bed and Rex follows him to the other one. I get that they want to avoid talking about anything. I will give them tonight because a lot has happened and I don’t even know how to handle it all. For one, I thought would be able to escape the coven but If my mother doesn’t wake up. I might be stuck here for the rest of my life. There is no way a bunch of witches will accept me and my mates. They would want me to sever my ties with them. There is a spell for everything, they will want that for me. Or rather, they will try to make me sacrifice them for the coven. I will never choose the coven over them. They are literally the most important people in my life and just the thought of letting them go terrifies me.

Gyles pulls the covers over his head as I sit down next to Rex. "How are you feeling?’’ I ask him worriedly.

He manages a faint smile, I know that he is just trying to make me feel better by acting like he is okay. I feel him right now and the aura I am getting from him is very dark. I don’t even need to run any tests on him. I know there is something inside him, something that will still come out of him if we let it.

"I am okay," he tells me, pulling the covers over his legs. His back is resting on the wall and he is watching me calmly. Almost like he doesn’t want to sleep. I don’t even have half a mind to go to bed right now. Not being able to tell what is going to happen tomorrow, terrifies me. It is just so weird that things could just change for the worst in one day.

I reach for him and he closes his eyes as my hand rests on his cheek gently. I watch him as he breathes steadily against my touch. He reaches for my hand on his face and squeezes it softly. I am the one that is supposed to be trying to make him feel better but it seems like he is trying to make me feel better.

I want to be a shoulder that he can rest on. "Are you okay?" his voice is low in the dimly lit room. There is pain in his voice. I feel like I am the one that brought this pain to his life. Rex was fine before he met me, I am starting to think being with him might have not been the best option. I don’t know what I was thinking. That I would be able to escape the coven?

Mother always said there was no way of leaving and I wanted to believe it didn’t apply to me. I am not a full warlock, I have Lycan in my blood. I thought I would be able to escape from the life I hated so much because of that but here I am. In this mess, that I never wanted to be in, unsure of what to do.

"I just want to make sure you are okay. You and Gyles.’’ I add that last part because he is not in the same bed with us right now but he is deep in my heart.

"What about you? is your mother okay?’’

My mother.

Before she got hurt, I was so sure she was going to do something criminal to get me to stay. She is the most selfish person I know. Right now, she is fighting for her life and I don’t know how long she has left.

There is so much pressure to find out who did this and I know the only way I can do that is by getting into Rex’s head. Someone did something to him and it might be buried in his memories. I have to find out who did this and then we get closer to the truth.

"I don’t know. I just want this to be over,’’ I tell him honestly. He slides down the bed until his head is on one of the pillows. I wrap my arms around him and he closes his eyes softly. He is exhausted. Maybe this rest is a good idea.

I take deep breaths as my eyes start to close. I haven’t slept in two days. Maybe I should just get some shut-eye.

After a couple of seconds, sleep comes and I drift off soundly...

I open my eyes and I see Gyles on the floor next to me. His eyes are closed and his head is on the bed. I don’t know how I feel about this but the sight in front of me makes my heart thud heavily. Pulling the covers off me, I reach for him and he opens his eyes immediately.

"Shit,’’ he whispers as he jumps up to his feet.

"Are you okay?’’ I ask him worriedly.

He smiles but nods his head "I can’t sleep without you guys next to me,’’ he confesses and this warms my heart even more.

I take a deep breath because this is all a lot for me. I have never felt this way before and I don’t know how to handle it.

"I can move that one closer, joint he beds together,’’ I suggest.

There is a gleam of excitement in his eyes. I look at Rex’s side and he is sleeping soundly. Walking over to Gyles bed, I drag it until the beds are close together. His smile widens "I am sorry for bothering you with this,’’ his cheeks redden, my heart melts.

I grab his hands in mine and he closes his eyes "I messed everything up,’’ he whispers in the dark of the night.

"You didn’t mess anything up. You have been perfect all through. Don’t think that way.’’ I tell him.

His eyes open, I am still holding him "Do you forgive me Blue, for everything.’’

I nod immediately. I stopped being upset with him the day I left the community. I just wanted to get him to see how incredible we could be together and now he sees that. He values this relationship and that is what I was going for.

"Come on.’’ I pull him to the bed. He rests on my chest immediately and this time, I feel complete and happy. There is nothing in this world that will take them away from me.
