Chapter 306: Major help

Gyles

I watch him eat and my heart swells up with warmth. The fact that he accepted this means something. Deep down, he trusts me—okay, maybe not trust but I don’t see fear in his eyes anymore. "How is it?’’

He looks up at me, still chewing the meat "It is okay,’’ he tells me calmly. I don’t know what he is thinking right now. The mind link between us is as good as dead. Do you know who you are?’’ I ask him. I want him to trust that he can talk to me. It might seem like the hardest thing right now but I believe it is possible.

"No.’’

His answer is firm and straightforward. He doesn’t know how he is which just means that he is basically in the skin of someone else and he doesn’t even know what is going on.

"I am Gyles, can you say my name?’’

He frowns and then drops the meat back in the container "Why?’’ he furrows his brows in confusion. To him, I am just a stranger, someone that is keeping him hostage.

"Do you know your name?’’

"Levine,’’ he answers but it sounds like a question. He isn’t sure but maybe because we keep calling him that.

"You are not who you think you are,’’ I mutter calmly.

"What do you mean?’’

His eyes never leave mine and for the first time today, I feel a connection with him. His whole body might be different. His voice might sound different but his eyes are the same. The one that I have stared at for so long. It is everything to me. Slowly, I reach for him. He doesn’t move away. He wants me to touch him.

My hand rests on his face and he closes his eyes. At that moment, I get the chills that I always get from his touch. I feel my heart as it thuds against my chest.

"Gyles,’’ he says my name, and something so trivial and meaningless feels like the entire world. I lean closer until our faces are inches apart. He closes his eyes and I know he wants to kiss me. I want to kiss him too but not in this body.

The door opens suddenly and I pull away from him so fast, almost like I am doing something wrong. Blue raises a brow and I look up at him with this guilty expression plastered on my face. I am pretty sure my face is red from the embarrassment of almost getting caught. Someone is behind him.

"Major, come in,’’ he tells him calmly. I look at the man as he walks into the room. He is not as tall as Blue but he looks to be about 6ft. his hair is jet black but not as long as the one on my mate’s head. His eyes are grey and piercing. He is very handsome and he looks to be about the same age as Blue.

"Levine,’’ he runs over to her.

Blue stops him "She is not the one,’’ he tells him but it sounds like a reminder. Major stops walking and turns to me. he is not as confused as I would expect him to be with that revelation.

"Are you sure about that? how do you know,’’ he asks him slowly looking away from me. I watch the scene, not sure where I fit. This isn’t about me. if Blue brought this guy here, then he must believe that he is able to help him.

"You said you were aware of the cloaking spell,’’ he mutters.

Major nods "Who is she supposed to be?’’ he asks.

"My mate,’’ he finally breathes out and I watch the scene as it unfolds. This feels like a coming-out moment. I don’t know who this guy is to him but the fact that this is happening is something big.

"What do you mean by that? Like a soul mate?’’ he asks.

He smiles "I am a wolf. I have always been a half-breed to you guys but you always thought I was human. My father is a werewolf,’’ he breathes out. I hold my breath as I watch them. I want him to be accepted. Somehow, it means as much to me as it would to him.

Maor opens his eyes wide, he is shocked. That is a natural reaction—I guess.

"That makes no sense."

"You all hated me and you didn’t even know the truth. You didn’t even have any reason to hate me,’’ there is a smile on his face but I can tell that he is pained. At this moment, I look at Rex. he is watching curiously in silence.

"I never hated you man, stop saying that shit. I was young, I didn’t know any better,’’ he defends but that is not an excuse.

"Can you undo this?’’ he changes the topic. This must be harder than he thought. I don’t know what the point of this is. he doesn’t need to tell him the truth. Right now, the only thing he needs to focus on is Rex.

"I can, I just need to be sure that whoever this is supposed to be is still inside,’’ he manages walking closer to Levine again. he reaches for her and she doesn’t fight back. I don’t know what it is but Rex has been very cooperative since he came into the room. I expected to have another fight with him. the control that the real Levine must have on him is still there—if it wasn’t, he would remember us.

He places both hands on her temple and closes his eyes. I don’t know what he intends to do but I stand up from the bed and walk up to Blue. he manages a smile but I know his heart is hurting. I wish I could do more. I wish I could protect him but I will just settle for being by his side. Major opens his eyes and they are completely grey. Rex’s eyes turn grey too and it seems like they are not even here anymore. he starts to chant some words that I can’t understand and she starts to shake.

I try to walk over to them but Blue grabs me. I don’t even know what I wanted to do but I don’t like what is happening.

Just let them do this.

My wolf tells me.

I take a deep breath as I watch the scene in front of me. Levine parts her lips open and a cry travels out as she falls to the bed, shaking. This must be painful and there is nothing I can do. There is no way I can stop this.

I walk out of the room because seeing this is hurting me more than I thought it would. I close the door, and through the walls, I hear her scream but to me, they are the sounds of Rex’s cries.

I slide down the wall until I am seated on the floor in the halls. I want this to end. I want all this heartache to just go away.

Chapter 307: Major’s confession

Blue.

The cries don’t stop.

I don’t know if bringing Major here was a good idea but I was all out of options and him coming to the potion room must have been a sign. The fact that I want to do this the right way and haven’t been able to, is frustrating. All those years, I was stubborn. I refused to give in to my magic. I didn’t want it in the first place and now I need the power more than I ever thought I would be. If I had the experience, I wouldn’t need Major to help. I would be able to do this all on my own.

I regret all the decisions I made growing up and if I could undo them, I would but now it is too late and I have to be better for my mates. They depend on me; they need me to be strong and protect them. I know it is not too late. I can still be that and more for them. I want that. I watch the scene and for a second, I feel weak.

Levine is on the bed, she is shaking. I still can’t see her as Rex. the fact that he has her face is a distraction and one that I don’t want to get used to. It feels like she is having seizures and for a second, I see his face in the glitches of her seizures. Major opens his eyes and stops his incantations. He is breathing heavily; his hands are still on her "This is harder than I thought. Something is fighting this." he breathes out as sweat trickles down his forehead.

I watch him as he goes back to it. I see him struggle but he doesn’t stop. Blood drops out of his nose. This is taking a lot of his energy but he continues, not stopping. I see the color on his skin whiten. Slowly, Major lets go of her and falls to his knees. I run over to him and grab him by his shoulders. He opens his eyes, breathing heavily "Fuck, this is a lot harder than It usually is. he is not letting me in,’’ he mutters.

"But is he in there?’’ I ask.

Levine is unconscious on the bed. he put her to sleep, which might be a good thing for now, with all the things that she just underwent.

"Yes,’’ he manages.

"What do we need to do. I am sure there is a way to bring him back.’’

He nods "While I was inside, I felt the presence of two consciousness. He is a wolf,’’ he explains. I nod immediately "His wolf is stronger than he is, the best way to reach out to him is by connecting with his wolf. Once you bring him back, once he knows what is happening, I can get him out of this shell.’’

The fact that he knew all that is progress, that just means that he felt Rex. my baby is still alive and breathing. He is so close to me. I can get him back.

"I know a way to do that,"

He smiles "Then do it and call me back,’’ he winks. It almost seems like he is flirting with me. I have never seen Major as someone that could like me. out of everyone in this coven, he was the one I hated the most. I wished I never knew him, so many nights, I would pray to not be part of this world. I would wish to be someone else. Now he is bleeding and fighting a battle that is not his for me.

I find it so hard to even fathom.

"Why are you doing this?’’ I have to ask. I need to know the reason why he is being a completely different person from the one I knew all those years back.

"I like you Blue and maybe it is too late to say this but I have always thought you were a cool guy.’’

I scoff because I find it so hard to believe. I don’t understand the words he is saying. How he suddenly thinks I am cool. The bullying, the spewing of insults, and now he is saying I am cool. I call his bullshit.

"You were a bully, you fucking treated me like shit."

He nods "And I regret all my actions. Maybe you would have never left if I actually told you how I really felt,’’ he agrees with me.

No matter what happened, I would have still left the coven. I never felt like I belonged. Even now, I don’t want to be here. I wish I could just take my mates and we could just go back to the community. That place is more of a home to me than this place ever will be.

"And how do you really feel?’’

He looks away from me and wipes the blood out of his nose "I think, you are kind, funny and a beautiful specimen of a man. You know that saying, you never know what you had until it is gone?’’

I nod.

"That applies to us."

I furrow my brows "You never had me in the first place,’’ I remind him that he was my sole nemesis.

He laughs "In my mind, I did."

I sigh "I don’t feel that way about you, I am completely in love with my mates.’’

"I know that. you are still here because of them. I am sure you would have skipped town if they weren’t here.’’

He is right. I would have left the night of the attack. I was insistent on my mother. I warned her to tighten her security and focus on the important things. I didn’t understand why she didn’t value her life as she should have and I wouldn’t have fought along with that battle with her.

Rex and Gyles coming to the coven ruined things. I don’t want to play the blame game right now because there is no point and it has already happened.

"I appreciate your help, Major. This means a lot."

He nods "Yeah, I guess this is my way of making amends. I would do anything for you to make things right,’’ he takes a step away from me and walks to the door "Call me when he remembers. I will fix this.’’ he tells me and walks out of the room.

I follow suit and Gyles is on the floor. His hands are over his head but I know he is awake "I need your help,’’ I tell him.

He looks up "Anything.’’

We are going to get you back Rex.

Chapter 308: We need you

freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Rex.

I have been in this dark place for so long. I don’t know how to get out of this darkness. I don’t know what to do. I had the dream about the cage and now it feels like I am stuck in this cage. I am living my worst nightmare. I have completely given up on hope. A way to escape from this place.

Because you are weak.

You will always suffer.

Those voices in my head torment me. I am nothing without my wolf and I haven’t been able to feel him since I came here. I know this is all in my mind. I know I am stuck in some kind of limbo state. There is a way to get out of here but I know I am not strong enough to fight. I don’t see anything beyond this cage. I know who is responsible for this. I remember everything and even though I can’t do anything to get out of it. I know who is responsible.

I look out into the darkness, every time I stare into the darkness and this time, it feels like there is someone there. I squint my eyes in the hopes that this is not my imagination. The sound of footsteps getting closer, almost like droplets of water on a rainy day. In an instant, the cage opens and I stand up from the cold ground and grab the handle of the cage. This just makes me know that this can’t be real, this is all in my head and there is no way to escape this but to wake up. I take coming out of this prison, even though it is not real.

Walking out of the cage, a rush of cool air hits me. I hug my chest immediately as outside the cage is even colder than inside it. There is this part of me that wants to just go back inside. Ignore everything and just wait until my life ends but I know that I have to try. This might be my subconscious but this could end up being my awakening.

I walk into the darkness, letting go of all the fear that tries to stick. I am afraid that I will disappear into oblivion. There is the fear of not even being missed. What if Gyles and Blue are not even looking for me? What if they have moved on? They have each other. They are strong and they don’t attract weakness. I am the only one they have to take care of. The one they have to consistently worry about. It would be so much better for them if I die.

"You are not going anywhere,’’ I hear the voice and this makes me look up into the darkness. I am surrounded by darkness but with that voice, I see a light. I recognize the voice—my wolf. He is back. I wait for something, anything to get me out of here.

"You have some people here to see you,’’ he tells me as his voice echoes through space. I take a deep breath to control my breathing and so as not to overreact but I am excited right now. I know who he is talking about instantly. They haven’t given up on me. They are still looking for me. They still want to be with me.

"How do I find them?’’ I ask.

"Follow the light, Rex. You need to be strong,’’ he encourages me. He is the only one that ever even gave me any semblance of strength. He is the reason why I am still alive, with him gone all this while. I have felt broken and incomplete.

I look in the direction of the light. It is very tiny, it seems like it is far away but I will walk to the ends of the earth if that will get me to them.

"Just follow the light, Rex. You will find what you are looking for." He tells me.

I obey my wolf immediately and start to walk. I don’t know where I am going and I don’t know how long it will take but the faster I walk, the closer the light seems. I keep walking ignoring the sweat and all the pain on my leg. If this is in my head, why does it feel so real? Why are my toes numb from feeling, why is there a sting in my thighs?

The minute the light brightens up my face, a smile sprawls and then I see the door. I have never felt the presence of my wolf as much as I do at this moment. Having him back is all I needed. It is the one thing that made me go on. I stop in front of the white door and grab the golden handle, slowly turning it. I hear the click and my heart races against my chest. I don’t know what is behind this door but I already feel the joy that comes with accomplishing something. The fact that I am not in the cage anymore overwhelms me. I take a step into the room and I see my bed. I haven’t seen my bed since I left the community. I am in my room. The one place I have always felt at ease in.

I miss life in the community. To me, they were the simpler times. I didn’t worry about anything, I had Beau and I guess he shielded me a lot. I have never suffered as much as I am right now and I know it is not Gyles’s and Blue’s fault. I came here on my own. no one forced me to come with him, so at the end of it all—it is my fault for not being strong enough to defend myself.

I am to blame.

"T-Rex,’’ I hear the nickname that only Gyles calls me. Quickly, I turn around and he is here. In the flesh. Even though this is a dream. I know that our minds are linked. I know that he is the one. He is here with me. I run over to him and he grabs me as I jump into his arms. It feels so good to be held, it feels so good to know that he is still looking for me.

I feel Blue before I even see him. I pull away from Gyles slowly and he is behind him. My hands tremble as I take a step towards him. There is a faint smile on his face, his eyes are moist.

"Hi,’’ he mutters with a slight wave. I can’t tell when he is nervous and he is all that and more right now. I stop in front of him and his smile widen.

"We need you back Rex,’’ he breathes out finally and the sound of his voice sends waves into my bloodstreams.

I want to go home.

Chapter 309: The mastermind

Rex.

I don’t know how long I stay in their arms. I am afraid that the second I let go of them, they will disappear and I will be all alone again.

"Is this real?’’ I ask both of them. It has just been a couple of minutes since they came and my heart is already content. The loneliness that took over seems to be clearing away. Their presence is enough to keep me satisfied.

"Not exactly,’’ I knew asking was pointless. This is like the last dream we had. Somehow, we can communicate in our dreams. So that means I am probably unconscious somewhere. They are here because they can’t get through to me. I am sure of that much.

"Where am I?’’ I ask.

Blue grabs my hand and we all walk to the bed, together. Gyles is quiet. I remember what transpired between us before I woke up in the darkness. I hurt him again and no matter how much I tried. I couldn’t stop. The controlling was just too much.

"You are with us. Right now, you are asleep,’’ he answers me and reaches for me. I welcome him into my arms and before I know what is happening, we are all sandwiched together. Gyles is on my right and Blue is on the other side. I never want to let go of them. I want things to be normal again.

Gyles is the first one to kiss me and I respond with all the longing in me. it feels like it has been forever since they held me like this. I don’t want this to end. If we stay here, in this dream world, we could be happy. Maybe this is what we need to find that happiness that I have been searching for. Blue is on the other side and he reaches for me, wanting in on this. I pull away from Gyles and his eyes are closed, he looks very peaceful right now as I brush my finger on his lips, a soft moan escapes his lips. I turn, still feeling Gyles’s hands on me. His touch is like fire, burning my insides into goo. Blue is watching me, there is still that sadness in his eyes. The pain that he is carrying on his own. The one that I want to know, the one that I should help him ease.

I lean into him and a sigh leaves his lips as they part open and give me room to feel him. The moment our lips touch, I feel that same sensation that I just felt with Gyles. Having two of them is double the emotions, double the love, and double the excitement. The fact that I can feel this for two different people is something I will always be grateful for. We keep kissing, they take turns and somehow, it seems like I am in the middle of it all. It feels like all their focus is on me—not that I am complaining. I reach for Blue’s shirt and he helps me take it off, revealing his chest to me. I ogle at him because he is beautiful. Gyles stretches his hand out and slides it down his chest. I watch the scene and it is the hottest thing I have ever seen. The lust-filled eyes. The cravings. I want them both so badly that with each day, it is getting harder to resist.

"Fucking hell,’’ Gyles strains out frustrated. He pulls back from Blue and turns to me "Can you wake up now and remember?’’ he pleads.

I furrow my brows in confusion. We are all sandwiched together. Their scents are strong in the whiff of my nostrils. Somehow, it is a blend to me. One that makes me feel like I belong in their arms. Both of them, together at the same time.

"Gyles,’’ Blue warns him with a glare. His eyes are still dark, I know he didn’t want to stop this. Gyles just had to go and ruin things.

Making out is not what is important right now.

My wolf reminds me. It has been a while since I got a scolding from him. I missed this so much. I don’t want this feeling to ever disappear. Having my wolf makes me complete and his absence makes me weak.

"We need to get to the point before we wake up. We have to tell him what is going on since this is the only place we get a chance to.’’

Blue sighs and then turns to me "He is right. There is plenty of time for a reunion. Right now, I need to have a word with you." he grabs his shirt and puts it back on. I watch them and wait for this conversation to get to where it needs to.

"Do you remember everything?’’ Gyles asks me.

I nod.

He smiles, I am sure he is glad that he doesn’t have to explain things again. I know how exhausted he must be. "Levine is responsible for bewitching you. She is the one that took you when we were at the hotel. We still don’t know what she did to you but I am sure you do."

I nod again. She took my blood. I remember her tying me up in one of the motel rooms. I remember the evil look on her face. I remember her giving me something to drink. Everything rushes out of my head, almost like my brain is full and needs some release.

"Right now, you are Levine. She used a cloaking spell on you, so to everyone, you look like her. To everyone, you are the bad guy,’’ Blue explains. I haven’t felt like myself since I got to the coven. Things have been very blurry and I have had so many dark thoughts. "Can it be undone?’’

Blue smiles "I have someone that can do it, but you are fighting the process. We need you to let go,’’ he rests his hand on my shoulder.

I close my eyes as the night in the motel keeps barging into my thoughts. Levine seems so familiar to me, she didn’t seem like a bad person when I saw her. She apologized for hurting me. She made me think that she didn’t want to hurt me.

A revelation hits me immediately as a significant part of the memory springs up "There was someone else in that motel,’’ I blurt it out.

They both look at me and for the first time, I am sure.

This wasn’t done by just her.

She has an accomplice—or maybe the mastermind.

Chapter 310: The memory of her

Rex

The memory

"Hello Rex West,’’ the woman smiles, obstructing me from passing. I manage a faint smile because she mentioned my name, which must mean she knows me. Her eyes shine under the sunlight, making it really hard to stop looking at her.

"Do I know you?’’ I ask her immediately. Gyles told me not to roam about, I was just supposed to get my back and return to the room. What if she knows Blue and she blows our cover?

"Oh, you don’t, but I know all about you,’’ her smile widens and it makes me sick to my stomach. I already sense something bad before she even reaches for me. Her index finger points to my forehead and I black out before I can even make a run for it.

Slowly opening my eyes, I am in a room. This room looks exactly like the one we paid for, except that it has only one bed. I try to stand up but I am tied. Both my hands and legs are tied to the bed. The only person that I know is responsible for this, is that beautiful woman. The one I saw downstairs. I tug at the ropes and the more I tug, the more it burns. It feels like fire on my skin.

Breathe.

My wolf soothes me, I can’t focus on anything but the pain from the ropes. Whoever did this, has no plans on me even being able to get out on my own. I hear the door and murmurs but I can’t see who they are. There are two people in the room but the only voice that sounds familiar is the woman’s voice. The one that did this to me. They are trying to be quiet. I can hear them clearly.

"Is this going to work? I don’t want to hurt anyone,’’ the woman manages, there is hesitation in her voice. If she didn’t do this to me, I would think she was innocent.

"We have to. There are no plans of hurting anyone. Just trust me. Analise will give up on the throne once this happens."

I don’t know what is going on but why am I part of this plan. What do they mean by hurting people? Why am I involved in this and what do they want to do to me?

"Promise?’’ the woman asks.

"I give you my word. Complete the spell and let him go." The door closes after that and my heart trembles in fear. They are talking about spells which must mean that they are witches. I sit up on the bed—as much as I can as she walks over to me. I see her face again, the smile that I once saw as evil but there is a lot more in her eyes. Something tells me that she doesn’t want to do this but the fact that she is doing this just makes her as bad as the man.

"Please let me go,’’ I beg her, still tugging on the ropes. She climbs the bed and grabs my wrist "Stop forcing, they are leaving wounds. No one can know that you were here,’’ she tells me. Like I would listen to her. The scars will heal, as long as I have my wolf. The burns will heal. I wish they wouldn’t because this is the only way that Gyles will know something happened to me.

"Once this is over, you wouldn’t remember anything,’’ she assures me as she caresses my hair. I hate her so much and I don’t even know her.

"Please let me go. I will not tell anyone about this.’’

I am desperate and since I can’t fight to get out of this. I will be a coward and beg until she lets me go. She ignores my pleas and stands up from the bed. I watch her as she walks to the table that has a box tv on it. She grabs something from the table and walks back to me.

"This is not personal. I am sorry that you have to be involved in this but I promised. Once things are settled, I will have you back to normal.’’

Normal?

What is she talking about?

"Please, I promise if you let me go, I wouldn’t tell anyone. I will not mention it today. I will act like I don’t even know you." I try to get her to change her mind but the second I see the knife on her grip, I know that there is no chance in hell that I will get her to listen to me. I watch her as she pierces the knife into my skin. I watch her as she drains the blood out into a tiny pot. My heart races in my chest, I am so scared because I am not ready to die. I haven’t done a lot in my life. I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything and I finally have the chance to be happy and she wants to take it all from me.

This is unfair.

Once she is done, she drops the pot on the table next to the bed and does the exact same thing she did to me, to herself. I watch her as she doesn’t even flinch. The blood drops into the pot and she takes it back to the table. At this point, everywhere becomes blurry but I hear her as she continues chanting words that I don’t understand. It doesn’t seem like this is the first time she is doing this and I doubt this will be the last time.

The louder she gets, the weaker I become. I wish I was as strong as Blue or Gyles. I wish I could fight her back. show her that I am not someone to mess with but I will always be weak. People will always be able to have their way with me. I will never really be in control of my life.

I hear her when she stops and I struggle to open my eyes. Her footsteps are soft as she walks back to me. She is holding a cup "I am sorry Rex. this won’t hurt, I promise,’’ she places the tiny cup in between my lips and forces the concoction down my throat "You won’t remember a thing. Just relax,’’ as the words escape her lips, everywhere becomes dark.
