Ch. 326..330: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 326-330
Chapter 326: The dark room and the pregnancy
Levine.
Another three months fly by and I notice all the changes in Analise. I notice the changes in her body. She acts like it is all not obvious. I know the signs. I am not stupid but she must think that I am because as the only person she talks to, I expected her to talk to me about this. Our training is almost over, Mother has never been more proud of anyone than she is with Lissy—not like I care. I am just glad that in a couple of months, I will have the chance to be free from all the drama that comes from being a witch.
Lissy has gotten so much better at her magic. Most times, when I see the excitement in her eyes. I forget how being the leader of a whole coven will not be a good idea with the way she is. I don’t want to sugarcoat things. She will be a terrible leader. The darkness inside her is too strong. Over the months, I have seen her do and say things that make me even more scared of her.
After our training, we walk side by side down the halls. There is a smile on her face. "You and Badger are going steady,’’ she mutters as we walk. I wanted the walk to be in silence. I don’t want to have to ask her about what I think is going on with her but her trying to spike up a conversation just gave me the leeway.
"Not really,’’ I shrug like it is no big deal. It is actually a big deal to me and even though we haven’t labelled our relationship because of the big elephant in the room. I am still in a happy place in my life. You see, everyone wants Analise to end up with Badger. It is the smart choice—for both families. It will be a disappointment if anyone ever finds out that we are dating.
"Oh really? Then why do you have dreamy eyes just from mentioning his name?’’ she raises a brow but there is a smile on her face. This is amusing to her. My embarrassment. This is the first time I have taken an interest in anything. All thanks to Badger.
"No one can find out.’’
"Why not just grow some balls and tell mother that you like the guy?’’ she rolls her eyes. That is something that will be easy for Lissy. She doesn’t keep things inside. She would rather say how she is feeling than keep it inside.
That is how I know so much about how interested in death she is.
"Because I am not you,’’ I retort.
She scoffs "Isn’t that a good thing. You have no pressure to be perfect. You can do your own shit and not give a damn.’’
I don’t want to tell her that she is the one that chose all the pressure that has been put on her. I don’t want to tell her that because I know she will be upset "What is going on with you?’’ I ask her wanting to change the topic. Badger is the one that wants to keep this a secret. He is the one that suggested it. so I can’t really go against him right now. I like where we are. It’s a really great place and I don’t want to ruin it.
"What do you mean?’’
I raise a brow. Deep down, she knows what I am talking about. The sudden weight gain. The cravings and change in her moods. I know it all.
"You know what I mean Lissy. You have never been one to hide anything from me.’’ I tell her with a glare. She knows what I am referring to. The question is, is she willing to tell me what it is?
We stop in front of my room and she grabs my hand in hers and pulls me in the opposite direction. We keep walking until she leads me into the basement. There are a lot of rooms in the basement, the second we stop in front of the door, I know where we are.
No one is allowed in this room.
Hence why it is always locked.
Father has warned us to stay away from it. Bad things happen in this room. Things that no one really talks about.
I push her grip off me immediately "What are we doing here Analise?’’ I ask her. My heart is racing right now from the fear of the unknown. I don’t know why she brought me here but I know she is up to no good.
"Do you trust me?’’ she asks with a calm smile.
I take a deep breath.
No.
"You know I do,’’ I lie. I need her to trust her because it is better for me to know what she is doing. Better for me to handle things before she takes them too far.
"Then come on.’ I watch her as she conjures a spell. The lock shifts immediately. I don’t even know how to do that. She must be practising a lot on her own.
Once we are inside the room, I feel the chills immediately. The environment is cold and dark. Makes me even see more reason as to why they wouldn’t want anyone in here. What the fuck are we doing here?
"Lissy, this is insane. Mother will kill us if she finds out that we were in here,’’ I reprimand her.
She nods "I know, that is why she is not going to find out.’’
I gulp down my nerves because at this point I just want her to tell me what is going on already. She is delaying this and it is driving me insane.
"Why are we here Lissy?’’ I ask her again.
I don’t even want to look around because I don’t want to know what this place entails. It looks like a library. A very scary library but whatever those books carry must be dangerous.
"As you can already tell, I am pregnant.’’ She raises her oversized shirt up and points to her stomach. I look at it and see the tiny bump.
"That doesn’t explain why we are here.’’
She smiles and then nods grabbing my hand again, leading me further into the room "Obviously, I am not going to keep it. I found a spell. Death is the easiest spells to come across and you are going to help me with it,’’ I stiffen in her grip at her words.
She can’t be serious right now.
I am not helping her with an abortion.
Chapter 327: Blackmail and madness
Levine
Analise must be insane.
She can’t really be asking me to do what I think she is. She hasn’t come out right and said anything but from her words and demeanour, I already know what she is demanding. I don’t say asking because she already expects me to say yes to her request. The dynamics of our relationship has always been like this. She tells me what she wants and I grant her every wish.
"Levine, say something,’’ she is in front of me. Her eyes remain fixed to mine. The look she is giving me is boring into my soul—and not in a good way.
"What do you want me to say, I don’t understand what you are asking.’’
She sighs and then drags me into the room. We stop in front of a shelf. There are books covered in dust. It seems like no one has been here in decades. Now thanks to my sister, we are breaking all the rules of the coven. We are doing one thing that we shouldn’t.
"I don’t want to be in here. Let me go,’’ I force her hand off me. She looks at me but she doesn’t seem upset by my reaction. She needs me right now, so she is probably going to be all smiles until I agree to do whatever it is she wants.
"Okay, this is not going as planned. Let,--I cut her off before she can even add any more words to that sentence "What plan? Why am I part of your ridiculous plan?’’
I am upset and you can’t blame me. From what I have gathered she is planning on killing her child. I get that she is not ready for a baby. I mean we are just sixteen but there are other ways to do this. She wants me to help her murder the baby inside her.
I will not do it.
"You haven’t even listened to what I have to say. Why are you always so scared of every little fucking thing?’’ she is trying to insult me to give in but I won’t this time. There is no fucking way.
"I don’t care about your plan Lissy. If you don’t want this child. Let’s go to a hospital. Let us do this the right way. I will not partake in this adventure of yours."
She slaps her hand on her forehead dramatically "You are annoying. You know that.’’ she walks away from me and to another shelf. I watch her as she starts to rummage through the books. I know that nothing good will come of whatever she wants to do but I don’t know how to convince her that this is not the best idea she has ever had. My sister has had terrible ideas before but this one tops all the others. For the first time in my life, I am completely terrified of her.
The fact that she could even think of something so vile and murderous. It scares me that she is so quick to want to practice death spells.
Why does she want to kill so badly?
It is ridiculous to me.
"Here it is,’’ she pulls out a book with a wide smile. As usual, she is not listening to me. She never listens to me. Analise is in her own world and in that world, she does whatever she wants to.
"I am out of here,’’ I walk in the direction of the door.
"Don’t you dare walk out of here,’’ her voice stops me in my tracks. It is cold and detached. Just like the temperature of this room.
I turn around and her eyes meet mine "I don’t want to be involved in this,’’ I raise my hands up.
Her smile widens "I need you. You promised to always help me whenever I needed you.’’
I open my eyes wide from the shock from her words "I am not going to help you kill a baby,’’ I scream out loud to the walls of this room.
She rolls her eyes "It is still a fetus. It has just been three months." She brushes it off like it makes no sense for me to even call it a baby. I am not against having an abortion. She could put the kid up for adoption even but I just can’t understand why she would want to do this with magic.
"Then let us do this the right way,’’ I beg her.
She drops the book on a table by the bookshelves and then walks up to me "I need to practice my magic. This is a good way to get better. All these books here, have spells and potions that mom and dad have hidden from us all our lives. I want to be stronger than them. I want to be stronger than everyone.’’
And it all comes down to power.
The power that she so desperately craves.
I don’t want to be a part of this.
"You are on your own Lissy,’’ I say deadpan.
"You are my sister. You have to do this with me.’’
I shake my head "I love you so much Analise but I don’t want to take part in this madness.’’
This time, I reach the door but she stops me again "I know about your plans to run away." My heart thuds against my chest at her words. I turn around and the evil expression on her face has me horrified. I know what is coming next. There might be no way to get out of this.
"What are you talking about?’’
She laughs quietly "I read your journal. I know how much you hate the family. How much you hate me. I know it all."
"I don’t hate you.’’
She waves her hand in the air "Oh, I don’t give a fuck. I’ve always known."
She read my journal and interpreted everything wrong. I don’t hate her. I am just scared for her and the person she has become.
"Help me with this and your secret is safe. You can still run away when you are eighteen. You can desert the family as you wish.’’
The words come out of her mouth so easily and she has no idea that she is breaking me to slithering.
"Okay. I will help you.’’
Chapter 328: Trusting the wrong person
Levine
"Hey,’’ Badger opens the door to my room and walks in with a smile on his face. I jump up from my chair because he is not supposed to be here. My phone is still in my grip as he walks closer to me. I was just texting him. I didn’t expect him to be in my room.
"What are you doing here?’’ I ask him immediately. My eyes keep swaying to the door, almost like I am about to get caught or something. I have never brought a guy into my room. I have always been a stickler for the rules.
"I missed you,’’ he pulls me into his arms and for a second, I welcome him wholeheartedly. Having someone that gives you warmth is the best feeling ever and in his arms right now, in this moment, I feel secure. Everything that happened in the last hour is gone for a second.
"You can’t be here,’’ I breathe into his chest as my head rests on it gently. He caresses the top of my hair and I take a long breath, wanting to enjoy this for a second longer.
"How are you?’’ he asks me calmly. His voice is like music to my ears. The kind that you just want to get lost in.
I close my eyes and memories from earlier in the day swarm in. I can’t believe I agreed to help her. I can’t believe she threatened me. Analise is going too far and I don’t know how much longer of her I can take. She said I will be free to leave when we turn eighteen but I have a feeling that things will be worse by then. I can’t handle more of her. The things she is doing. I want to tell dad. I need to tell him that she went into the forbidden room. That she is reading the books. The spells that are not to be tampered with. Dad will understand. I might not really have a relationship with my mother but I have one with him. He will help her.
"Something is wrong," he says pulling me out of my thoughts. I look up at him and he is watching me, with this concerned look, sometimes, I think Badger is not sincere. I mean, it all happened too fast. It all happened and I still don’t know how to handle it but at this moment, in his arms. I feel like I could trust him. I need someone to talk to and maybe he wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
"Can we go to your place?" I ask him calmly.
I don’t know if this is a good idea. Trusting him but I want to. I want someone in my corner and it pretty obvious that Analise is not that person. I have always been by her side and the one time I don’t feel comfortable being there, she uses it against me.
"My mom is home,’’ he manages calmly.
He is basically telling me that we can’t go there right now. I take a deep breath. He cups my face in his palm "What is wrong. You know you can talk to me,’’ he assures me.
Do I really know that?
"Is this about Lissy?’’ he pushes. The fact that he wants to know so badly must mean that he actually cares...right?
"Yes.’’
He nods immediately.
"Is she okay?’’ he asks and that concern shows when he asks about her. I know Badger cares about Lissy. In fact most times, I think he is more loyal to her than me. The fact that we are kind of an item right now doesn’t mean he will choose me over her.
I don’t know what I am even thinking. All these thoughts are running through my mind. I am so out of it right.
"Yeah, she is.’’
Technically, there is nothing wrong with her. Yes, she is pregnant and it might come as a shock to our parents but they will eventually calm down. They will look for a solution to everything. She doesn’t need to take things so far. She doesn’t need to react the way she is. The things she wants to do to get rid of the baby.
It all makes no sense to me.
I tell Badger everything and the concerned expression on his face, transitions into shock and then disbelief at my words. Telling him that we went into the forbidden room might be a mistake but it feels good to actually let it all out.
He lets go of me just as I finish all I have to say. "You can’t tell anyone,’’ I breathe out because, at the end of it all, I want to keep my promise to her.
"You have to tell your mother.’’
I shake my head immediately "No way. I just have to find a way to convince Lissy that this is not the best thing to do. I have to make sure that she doesn’t go along with this.’
He sighs and then I watch him run his hands through his hair. I know what he wants to do but that is not what we are going to do. This is his chance to prove that I can actually trust him. I didn’t have any reason to stay in the coven but now, he is here, with me and there is some hesitation. I want him to come with me.
"Analise can’t be the next in line.’’ He breathes out, slowly letting go of his hair and walking back to me. He grabs my hands in his "You know as much as I do that she is dangerous. She is not a good person.’’
"She is not a bad person. She can change. She just needs me by her side."
He shakes his head "You should be the one. You should take over after your mother,’’ he adds.
My heart races against my chest. It doesn’t sound like something that he just thought of. Badger actually thinks I will be better as the next chief. I don’t want that. I will never want that.
"You and me, we could rule this place beautifully,’’ he leans forward and suddenly, trusting him seems like the worst thing I could have done.
The door opens and Lissy walks in. she raises a brow at the sight in front of us and then a smile sprawls to her face "Someone is very bold right now,’’ she wiggles her brows.
I sigh.
"Come on. I need to show you something,’’ she tells me and I know whatever it is. She is up to no good.
Damn.
Chapter 329: All out of options
Levine
"Can you give us a minute?’’ Badger asks her calmly.
To her, he snuck in to see me. This is something romantic and from the grin on her face, I can sense that she is happy for me. I just broke her trust and I don’t think I told the right person. It seems to me like Badger is only interested in power. Just the same way Lissy wants it. They are the perfect match. I don’t know why I am fucking involved in all this.
I just wanted Badger.
I wanted to be loved.
I don’t know what to do anymore.
Lissy raises a brow at me and then winks "I’ll give you five. Hurry up.’ She walks out of the room and Badger faces me again.
"You need to tell your mother. She will know what to do,’’ he mutters immediately she is out of earshot.
I shake my head "I can’t do that. Analise will literally kill me.’’
This is all the pent up fear. I see my sister and I see her capable of murder. I don’t want to be the one she starts it out with. I want to leave this town. I want to leave it all behind and not think about her anymore. I just want the freedom of not living in fear.
"Tell all this to your mother. You should have a long time ago."
To me, it seems like he has known all along. Maybe not as much as I do but I see it in his eyes. There isn’t that surprise that should come from finding out your best friend is a psychopath. He only seems to care about the title.
I made a mistake trusting him.
I just got with him and maybe all the emotions have riled up my thoughts. He is right about one thing though. I need to talk to someone about this. I have to tell my dad. He is the only one in this forsaken place that I trust. He is the only one that I can actually believe will do what is best for Lissy. Right now, Lissy needs to be locked up. She needs to stop practising magic. Go on medication and maybe live a normal life.
No one believes in that here. Maybe I can try and convince dad. I don’t know what I am doing anymore.
"You have to trust me, Levine. I know what is best for this situation,’’ he grabs my hand in his again. My heart thuds against my chest. I want to trust him so badly but I don’t want to lead this coven with him. He wants that and that is far from my dream. That is far from anything I want in this lifetime.
The door opens again and Analise pokes her head inside "Get your butt out here sis.’’ She glares at me. I let out a heavy sigh and detach from Badger. He is still watching me as I walk to the direction of my door to meet my sister.
"We will talk about this later,’’ he states. There is no question in his tone. He is basically telling me that we have to talk about this.
Fuck my life.
I get out to the halls and Lissy hits me on my shoulder roughly "You fucking told him,’’ she shouts so loud, that I am sure the whole house heard her. I rub the arm that she hit, terrified to even look at her. She should be angrier than she is.
"How in love are you that you would go and tell Badger an hour after I tell you?’’ she stops walking and faces me. There is an angry expression on her face. I deserve this. I mean she is right. The only reason I told him is because of the love bubble I was in. now I know that I made a mistake.
"I am sorry Lissy. I just needed to talk to someone about it. Someone other than you,’’ I add.
She rolls her eyes "You know that Badger is my best friend. I would have told him eventually.’’ She shrugs like she is not even upset that I told him everything.
I take a deep breath.
"You’re not upset?’’
She hits my arm again. This time, a lot rougher. "Of course I am. I trusted you.’’
"And now?’’
"Now I know that you are a fucking snitch. Come on,’’ she grabs my arm and roughly leads me down the stairs to the basement again. We stop in front of that room and she prepares to unlock it.
"I don’t want to be in here,’’ I plead desperate for a way out of this but I know I already agreed and she is not going to take no for an answer. She ignores my pleas and opens the door. There is a candle lit on one of the tables. Illuminating all the shelves even more.
"Did you light that?’’ I ask.
She nods "I have been doing some research on the reason why this place is so restricted." She walks further into the room and like the fool I am, I follow her until she grabs a book from the shelf. She carries it over to the table.
"You remember what dad told us about dark magic and how it eats at your soul If you are not able to control it?’’
I nod.
She smiles "All the spells in these books are tricky and confusing. They have deeper meanings that wouldn’t be understood easily. They all have consequences."
I look at the inscribed word on the front cover of the book. There is just one word on it. Desires. Written in a bold cursive. I get the chills from the book. My heart trembles. She is talking about dark magic and consequences and she has a fucking smile on her face. What is there to smile about?
I don’t want to mess with dark magic. I don’t want to do anything that will have repercussions.
She doesn’t even wait for a response from me as she opens the big book and starts to turn the pages "I found something that we could try. A spell,’’ she looks up at me for a second then goes back to turning the pages.
After a couple of seconds, she stops "Here it is,’’ her smile widens.
I move closer, peering at the book. At the top of the page, there is a label "The rescinding spell.’’
Just say these words and your hearts most desire will be granted.
Reversus revolvus,
Returnus resolvus,
Take me back to what I was.
What was once, is now gone
Take me back where I belong.
I stop reading, afraid to continue. Using spells is also about interpretation. Like she said. It could mean more. You can’t just eliminate a child and expect things to go spick and span.
"I am not doing this Lissy. There is no way in hell."
"You have no choice."
I frown. I might live my life in fear. I have always been a coward but I will not partake in this. I cannot. "Well you will have to stop me,’’ I tell her and turn in the direction of the door. I get to the door in what feels like a second but the minute I raise my hand to open the door. I feel a force, a pull so fast that I am back in front of her. Her hand is outstretched and there is a smile on her face. She pulled me back with magic. Magic that we haven’t been taught.
"Don’t make me force you to do this Levi. Just don’t.’’
It almost seems like I have no choice in this.
Chapter 330: Desires can be tricky
Levine
Being here against my own will by my sister.
I don’t know how I feel about it but now I have so many regrets. I should have told my father when I found out that she was doing this. There was still a chance to save her from this situation. Now that she is so far gone, it is too late.
"Lissy, there is still a chance for you to stop this. You don’t have to do this.’’ I beg her. I want her to think about her actions and the consequences.
"There is nothing to think about. This has to be done.’’
I close my eyes and take a deep breath "Why? Because you don’t want the kid?’’ I ask her calmly. I want to talk sense to her. I have to thread this carefully unless I might just end up losing this fight.
"This is not about the kid."
"Then why are you doing this. That child has a father. You should talk to the father. It’s that guy from the bar...right?’’
"He doesn’t even know anything about me. I can’t tell him about this.’’
"Does it matter? He deserves to know that you are pregnant."
She sighs and then shakes her head "He thinks I am eighteen. He would want me to do this too. There is no way he wants a baby with me,’’ she shrugs like she is even making any sense.
"He still deserves to know. Let him make that decision. Don’t do things this way.’’ I am desperate for her to see things the way I see them. She thinks the books in here will help her but I am so sure that once she crosses to the dark side, there might be no way to get out of it. She is already being consumed by a darkness that I can’t even pull her out of. Imagine what happens when she decides to let it completely take over.
I am her twin sister. I have always had her back and she knows it. There is no hesitation in turning against me at this moment. She doesn’t care what happens to me. All she cares about is her plan to kill her unborn child with evil magic.
There is no convincing her anymore. No matter how hard I try. I just can’t win with her. There is no hope here.
"Let me do this my way." She drops the book on the table and walks over to me. She places her hand on my face. It feels like something is pulling at my muscles. I can’t move, I can’t make a run for it. I don’t want to be here with her, involved in this.
"Badger knows about this. He knows that you are pregnant. Are you not afraid that he will tell mom?’’ I ask her. She is so calm about Badger. She doesn’t see him as a threat and that is weird to me.
"Badger is a coward. He will do nothing unless you edge him on.’’
This stings because this is her best friend. This is someone that she has always had a relationship. They have been close since we were five. I don’t understand how she can be so detached from her emotions. How she doesn’t even care about anyone but herself.
"Please Lissy, don’t do this,’’ I beg her desperate for any way out of this. She drops her hand to her side and walks back to the book.
"I am so sorry about this. It is not about you.’’ She grabs the book and I watch her. "This spell seems legit... don’t you think?’’ she asks me calmly. She is talking about the reverse spell. I read the contents and it is not specific. There is no way in hell it is going to be that easy. I know how spells work. Analise might be better at her magic but she has never really been able to perceive the deeper meanings of the spells.
She thinks this is just an undo spell.
That sex with the man she met at the bar might be erased and the child will never exist but these things are not always that easy. I know for a fact that it won’t end the way she thinks it will.
"You can use that spell," I beg her.
She turns to me "Why not?’’
"Things are not always as they seem.’’
She rolls her eyes. As usual, Analise doesn’t listen to me. I always try to get her to see that the things she is doing are wrong but she always ignores me like she is doing right now.
"You don’t have any clue. You are just being a coward. You don’t want to go out of the bubble you have put yourself in all these years. You don’t want to live up to your potential. Maybe the best thing is for you to leave. Skip this family like you have been planning all these years."
Her words are harsh but I mean, that is the purpose. She is trying to hit where it hurts and it is not even working. I am not interested in anything she has to say. At this point, I am completely done with Analise. I just want to be free from her reigns.
"Do whatever you want Lissy. I don’t give a fuck.’’
A smile sprawls on her face at my words. Maybe that is exactly what she wanted. The reaction I just gave her but like I said, I don’t care anymore. All her attention goes back to the book and I watch her as she starts to read the spell out. She is going for it outright. She doesn’t even want to practice first. I watch as her eyes brighten. As the air suddenly feels colder. I watch her confused with everything that is happening.
Suddenly, it seems like the room is spinning, spinning so fast. I close my eyes because I wish I wasn’t involved in this. I wish she didn’t drag me into this. Everywhere suddenly becomes quiet and I open my eyes and I am on my bed in my room. Being in that room with Lissy suddenly feels like a dream. I mean, what if it was all in my head. Because of Lissy, I haven’t been eating or sleeping properly. I don’t even know what is real and not anymore.
I get up from my bed and I am in my pyjamas. That wasn’t what I was wearing. I know I woke up this morning and had a shower.
"Fuck,’’ I run my hands through my messy hair from all the frustration of the confusion. My heart thuds against my chest as I walk into my bathroom. The light is off but I don’t bother to put it on. I don’t even want to look at my reflection in the mirror.
"Levi,’’ I hear my name out the door. It is Lissy and I don’t even want to talk to her right now. Even if it was a dream, I know that she is still dangerous. I know that I can’t trust her and she will never trust me. "I know you are in there,’’ she shouts and opens the door roughly.
"Something happened,’’ there is a gleam in her eyes and suddenly I don’t think it was a dream anymore "I think it worked,’’ she manages with a wide smile.
"What are you talking about?’’ I ask her. Maybe if I play dumb, she will leave me out of all this. I don’t want to be involved.
This could be my way out.
With an eye roll "I know you remember. Stop acting stupid.’’ She grabs my hand and pulls me out of the room "So I know something happened. Today is the 15th of April. That is two months before I met Jules.
Jules is the man that she met at the bar.
"What?’’ I pull my hand away from her grip and grab my phone on my bedside table. She is right.
"What the fuck is going on?’’
She shrugs "I don’t know. I thought I would at least been taken back to that night. You know. The night I had sex with him.’’
Oh. This is very weird. I knew this was a bad idea and she didn’t listen to me. Now we don’t know what the fuck is happening.
"You didn’t do it right,’’ I glare at her.
She frowns "I did exactly what it said I should. I don’t know what you are talking about,’’ she crosses her hands over her chest.
I run my hands through my hair "What happened on the 15th of April. What is so significant about that day?’’
We both look at each other. I don’t have any thoughts. I don’t know what to even think right now "Mom and dad went for the yearly witch’s conference,’’ she blurts out.
I shake my head "They came back on the 15th," I remind her, checking the calendar on my phone. I hear a knock on my door and my heart stops for a second. I am suddenly getting this chilling feeling. That something is about to go wrong.
I open the door to see Balt.
"What’s wrong?’’ I ask immediately. The expression on his face is unreadable but the words that leave his lips will forever be etched into my memory.
