Ch. 476..480: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 476-480
Chapter 476: Craving
Lenny
Mind games
That is exactly what I am doing and this is the most fun I have had in a long time and hell; I have lived such a long fucking life.
I didn’t plan this.
I didn’t even know that Hybrids existed.
It was just something that was talked about. Something I have heard about and brushed off. It was a myth and meeting Jabi made that myth a reality.
A hybrid’s blood is like a miracle to a vampire.
Not a lot of people know that because this is something that hasn’t even existed until now. Werewolves and Vampires have been enemies for as long as I can remember and now, with Jabi, that is not the case.
He is mated to a vampire.
That is something that wasn’t even possible.
This is an opportunity that I might have never come across in all my life. I am fortunate to have met him and I don’t think I can let him go.
His blood is running through my veins right now and I have never felt more alive. I have never felt stronger than I do right now. I feel like I can take on the world.
I feel like I can do anything.
My heart is throbbing, beating right now. A vampire doesn’t have a heartbeat but with his blood, I can hear the bounding. He jolted me back to life with such a small amount. I don’t want to kill him; I just have to have him.
I need access to his blood for as long as I live. I want him by my side all the time. I want to be able to taste him, I want to hear his cries as I have him.
"Fuck,’’ I run my hands through my hair as the thoughts roam around my mind. I am not even close to him and my heart is craving his blood. I lean back against my couch closing my eyes.
My mind races. The blood of a hybrid, it is so rare. This is something I am not used to.
Why does it feel so good?
Why am I so attracted to the potential of having him? "Hey,’’ I look up and open my eyes slowly to her as she walks over to me. She is naked, her eyes fixated on me. Human blood.
Something that used to satisfy me.
"The bed was empty when I woke up,’’ she pouts as she walks over to me and kneels down in between my legs.
I smile at her.
She is gorgeous in the afternoons. Her hands rest on my knees as she looks up at me seductively. I don’t even know her name, it is not important to me. I consider her to be my blood bank but she looks at me like I am her world.
Yeah, that is just me compelling her to feel this way but it comes in handy because I get to do whatever I want to her.
She loves me, so she can’t fight me.
The things I will do to Jabi when I get the opportunity. I just have to eliminate his mate first. Darrien is going to be a threat; I can already tell but once he is gone. Jabi will be mateless and he will come crawling to me. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asks me.
I smile at her.
"You’re hot,’’ she smiles back at me. "Are you hungry?’’ she asks me as she rubs against me slowly. I close my eyes for a second as I remember Jabi’s blood and I don’t want to taint it with hers. I want to have his again.
My phone beeps on the chair and I look away from her, slowly grabbing it. The message I see brings a smile to my face.
Jabi: Where are you?
I already know that this is not from him. there is no way he is the one sending this message but it intrigues me because I know it is his mate.
Darrien.
Lenny: Home, do you miss me?
I reply to his message because this is the most fun, I have had in a long time. Even though this is not Jabi, it will get me closer to him.
Jabi: Can we meet up?
The smile on my face widens as I look back at her as she looks back at me.
"I’m going out,’’ I answer,
She runs her hands down my body. "Where are you going?’’ she asks me.
I lean forward and kiss her, "To have some fun,’’ I stand up from the couch and her gaze pierces through me as I leave the house.
The excitement kicks in as I walk back to the school.
I can hardly contain my excitement. Darrien probably knows what happened and he is probably coming to meet me, upset and ready to kill me. I am not afraid of death. I love the pain. I love the regret.
I walk to the parking lot and walk over to the field. This is the place that I had a taste of Jabi, so this is the place that I should meet his mate. I don’t know how long it will take for him to be here but I know it won’t take a while. He must know about what happened to Jabi and I am excited about the outcome.
Once under the bleachers, I sit down on the grass and wait for him to come. With my eyes closed, I think about his taste and how it made me feel. I think about how much I want this to be a permanent situation.
How I am going to make this a permanent situation. I wish Darrien was not in the picture, then I wouldn’t have to hurt him but he is, and he is in my way, so I will have to eliminate him from the picture.
I take a deep breath as I feel his scent closer.
He is here.
Time to have some fun.
Chapter 477: Death
Darrien
"What do you want?’’ I ask him again.
I need an answer from him before I spiral. He is not giving me what I want. To him, this is all a game and I can sense it.
I hate this man and I don’t even know what the hell he wants from us.
He takes another step closer to me and the smile on his face widens. He is enjoying this too much. I have thought about all the ways I want to kill him and all he does is smile and stare.
"I don’t know what you are talking about. I don’t want anything from you. You have been suspicious of me from the first day you met me, even though I haven’t done anything wrong.’’ He stops in front of me and my eyes shift to his neck.
How easy it would be to snap it into two.
"I know what you did,’’ I tell him deadpan. There is no beating around the bush. I want to know why he drank Jabi’s blood.
"Do you hate vampires?"
I furrow my brows in confusion. I don’t even know what the hell he is talking about anymore. He is just messing with me and it is working.
"You must hate vampires, to hate me this much,’’ he adds in explanations. His words are deflecting. He is trying to change the conversation. He has been playing mind games because deep down, he knows that he took advantage of Jabi, he knows what he did but somehow, he messed with his memories, so that it would look like I was insane.
"There is a treaty between werewolves and vampires, you are not supposed to hurt him.’’ I manage. This is so unlike me, I don’t think. I just act and I should have beaten him to a pulp by now. Being with Jabi is making me soft and it is not good for me.
"He isn’t a werewolf,’’ he shrugs nonchalantly.
"He is."
He scoffs "He doesn’t taste like a werewolf."
As those words leave his lips, all the anger turns into a reaction and I lose myself in that second. That is him admitting to it all. He knows what he did and he just indirectly told me. That is my go-ahead to kill him. I jump over to him as my fangs come out with all the inner strength I have. The force is so strong that I feel the compact of the hit. He flies to the other side of the field but he is quick to his feet. I run over to him with my super speed and grab him by the collar of his shirt. His smile widens as I hit him square in his jaw.
He is enjoying the pain.
It just doesn’t make any fucking sense. I push him to the ground with my grip still on his collar. I don’t know how he is smiling through a beat down but that is what is happening. He is not making this fun. How do I kill someone that is not fighting back?
"What you are doing is pointless,’’ he mutters with his face battered "I will just heal right back up when you are done,’’ he adds.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?’’ I shout to him even though I know that he will never answer me. He wouldn’t tell me what he wants, he wouldn’t leave Jabi alone. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if killing him is the right thing to do.
"You should kill me...If you can. I mean, that is the only way I will leave him alone." He threatens me, almost like he is begging for death. I don’t know why this is so funny to him.
Now he is calling my bluff. Reading my mind and continuing the mind games with me. He is messing with me. Testing me to see what I can do.
"Why is he so important to you. What do you want from his blood?’’ I ask him.
He closes his eyes for a second and I watch him because I need an answer from him. I need to know the reason before I take any action.
Maybe this is unlike me, maybe I have changed ways and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. I have a family now. My mate is important to me and I don’t want to do anything to mess things up with him. I don’t want to endanger him or do anything that will hurt the walls I have built with him. Right now, Lenny seems to be breaking the said wall and trying to get in but I won’t let him.
He won’t win.
"Have you ever tasted the blood of a hybrid?’’ he asks me after opening his eyes. His question is ridiculous.
"What are you talking about?’’
His smile widens "I want his blood, I want him.’’
I frown and that is all it takes for me to go off the wall. I am still on top of him, my hands are still holding onto his collar. That cheeky smile is still on his face as I hit him a couple of more times. I know he is not going to fight back but I also know that he is feeling the pain of my hits. I hit his chest and the force is so much as I pull out his heart in one hit. His eyes open wide but the smile is still on his face. That mockery that he carries, I am literally digging into him and he is not even fucking fighting back.
I don’t know what else to do.
I watch him as his eyes dim and even though they are still open, I see the life slip from his eyes as I pull his heart out with all the power left inside me and toss it to the grass. My hands tremble as I stand there in the pool of his blood and watch him lifeless on the ground.
My hands are covered in his blood as I stand up from the ground.
"Fuck,’’ I exclaim, not sure that I did the right thing.
"Fuck.’’
Chapter 478: Regrets
Jabi
"Just calm down, Darrien wouldn’t do anything to hurt himself. He will be fine,’’ Elu breathes out gently. Her voice is calm and it would have been soothing if I wasn’t already panicking right now. He stormed out of the house angrily and it has been hours.
He took my phone so I can’t call him. I can’t make sure he is okay.
Where are you Dar.
I send him a mind link but I don’t get a response. My hands are on my l. I am seated on the couch in the living room. I have been here since he brought me earlier. He left angrily, saying he remembered everything. It is just so confusing to me. My memory seems intact, so how does he remember something that I don’t.
I trust him completely. Even if I never remember, I will believe only him and I just want this to be over with. If I have to stay away from Lenny, then that is what I will do. I will do whatever I need to do to make this relationship stronger.
Right now, Lenny is messing things up and I don’t want that. I don’t want anyone to come and mess with the happiness that I have built for myself. Darrien left here and I am panicking. What if he is hurt?
What if Lenny did something to him?
"Why isn’t he back, it has been hours?’’ I ask Elu even though we have been here together since he left. She has been sitting with me, I know she doesn’t want to leave me and I understand that she is doing this because of Darrien. He is her brother after all.
"He will come back here, just relax.’’
I shake my head because I am worried and I can’t relax when I don’t know what is happening to him. I can still feel him, like deep in my heart, so I know he is still alive, but I don’t know if he is hurt. Not that I am saying I want him to be hurt but I just want to know where he is.
"Can you call him, just make sure he is alright? He took my phone, so I can’t call him,’’ I stomp my leg on the floor anxiously. I can’t sit still, my hands are shaking, my heart is beating so fast that it feels like it is about to explode. I guess not knowing is what is affecting me. I need to know that he is at least safe.
If Lenny did all Darrien said he did, then he is dangerous. I don’t want him alone with him. I want Darrien safe and with me.
"I tried already; he is not answering." Elu rubs my back and I sigh. I don’t know how to handle this. How to stay strong when I don’t know what happened to him.
"Can you drive me home?’’ I turn to her slowly because I would rather be at the apartment than here. If anything happened to him, he would come to the apartment first. I just have that feeling inside me.
"What...why?’’ she asks me, probably confused about why I would want to go home right now.
I don’t like being here.
I don’t like to think about everything that could possibly happen to him. I was there and I am nothing but confused. It is the only thing that is clear to me.
I know now that something happened with Lenny. There is no way that Darrien would have that kind of reaction if nothing happened. I trust him and him alone and now I need to go to him because I feel like he needs me right now.
"I want to go home; can you drive me?’’ I repeat myself, hoping that she will listen to me and actually take me home. I don’t have any reason to be here.
"He wants you to stay here, do you think it is a good idea to go back to the apartment?" she asks me but I just nod because I don’t know what else to say "I think we should just wait for him. He would be upset if he finds out that I let you go home alone."
I shake my head because she can’t tell me what Darrien wants. There is no one I know better than him and the only place I should be is in our home.
"Please take me home,’’ I stand up from the couch and she looks at me with concern "If you don’t take me home, I will go on my own.’’
I hear his footsteps before he comes into the living room "I’ll drive you,’’ Eligio says as he comes into the room. His expression is blank and I can’t really read him. I walk over to him and he leads me out of the house. Once we are in front of his car, he speaks up "You know Darrien can handle himself, he has always been the only one that didn’t need anyone."
I hear him but now he has me. So, I don’t want him to always feel like he can take on everything.
I want him to lean on me sometimes.
"He will be fine; I know you are worried but I don’t think you should be."
I nod because the faster this conversation ends, the faster I can get back to the apartment.
He opens the car door and I enter quietly. He is staring over at me and I can feel his stare. He looks very concerned; I don’t know why he looks so concerned.
"Darrien is looking out for you and is always going to be the one to protect you. He won’t let anyone do anything to you if he knows it.’’
I look away because he is so right. He never lets me get hurt, but today, I pushed him away. I don’t know what happened, but I pushed him to the point where he felt he had to go looking for Lenny and this is my biggest regret.
The fear that he would do something.
Something he might regret because of me.
Chapter 479: Be better for him
Jabi
Eligio parks his car in the parking lot of the apartment and turns to me with a comforting smile on his face "He will be alright. don’t you worry about anything,’’ he tries to assure me but it is not working.
Everything is messed up because I let Lenny into our lives. I don’t even know why I was fighting so hard. It is not like I was desperate for a friend. Yes, I wanted a friend but thinking about it all now, is it worth it?
Was giving Lenny my number and inviting him over to the house a good call. I saw it in Darrien’s eyes. He didn’t really want to give in but in the end, he did it for me and I manipulated him into agreeing. I used the fact that he would do anything for me to make him agree to it and now it has all backfired.
Now, I am left in the dark because of how immature I am. How naive I was to think that Lenny was a good person.
I should have trusted Dar; he didn’t trust the guy and the fact that he had doubts should have been enough for me.
"Thanks," I manage because I don’t even have the energy to act like I am okay. I know he can tell and I have been feeling very faint all day.
I don’t know why.
He lets me get down from the car and I go up the elevator, till I get to the apartment. I already know he is not here. His scent is nowhere close to me and maybe coming here was not the best idea. I don’t know what to do, I just want to have him in my arms again. I want to apologize to him again and I never want to have anything to do with Lenny.
I walk into the apartment and it is dark.
The lights are off and somehow, I don’t even want to put them on. I just want him to come home. I walk over to the couch in the living room and sit on the side facing the door. The distance from the living room to the door is not far. Our place is comfy and cozy. it is usually just us in the confinement of this small space and I liked it so much. My hands cover my face as I try to stay strong, try to stop worrying.
He is going to come back.
My wolf assures me, just like Elu and Eligio tried to. I believe that he is going to come back, I mean, there is no doubt that he would but I just want him to come back and I want things to go back to the way there were.
I close my eyes on the floor, with my hands still covering my face as I drift off waiting for him to come back.
***************
I hear the shuffling of keys and that is what wakes me up, even before the door opens. I sit up because his scent becomes stronger. He is here.
I stand up before the door opens and the sight, I see in front of me has my eyes open wide from shock and worry. There is blood all over his clothes, like all over. His hands and face as well. He looks at me and I see the guilt on his face. He didn’t want me to be here.
Which just tells me that this is not his blood.
Is this Lenny’s blood?
"Why are you here?" he asks immediately.
Now I know for a fact that he didn’t want me to be here.
"Why is there blood all over you,’’ I run over to him and I start to check his body. He would have healed by now if he was injured, so there is no point even checking him. "Are you okay?’’ I add because I am worried out of my mind. I already know that he has done something to Lenny.
That is the only explanation for all this blood.
"I need to get all these clothes off first and have a shower,’’ he tells me and then tries to walk past me. I am quick to grab his hand because I need us to talk about this. I don’t want him to brush it off like it is nothing. I will not judge him...no matter what.
"Dar, what happened?’’ I ask him calmly; I don’t want to scare him into talking about this.
"It is sorted, you don’t have to worry about anything,’’ he says and shrugs it off like it is nothing. He is not looking at me, he is avoiding my eyes. Which just means that nothing is okay.
"What do you mean?’’
I already know what he is talking about. He doesn’t want to tell me blatantly because he thinks I will judge him or see him as a bad person but I could never see him as a bad person.
"Look Dar, I am not going to judge you, I just want us to talk about what happened. What did you do?’’ I ask him.
Finally, he looks at me and I watch him as he runs his hands through his hair. "I wanted to be better, for you. I wanted to change. I didn’t want to be the guy I was but he wanted to hurt you, he wanted to take you away from me.’’
this is the first time I have ever seen Darrien break down in front of me. Like, all I see is regret in his eyes. He doesn’t have to say anything. I already know what he has done without words.
I don’t hate him.
I am not upset with him because I know that he would have had a good reason.
I already know that he killed Lenny and I don’t have any problems with it.
I trust him. I pull him into my arms and he stays there. He doesn’t cry, I feel his breathing as I hold him against me.
I need to be better for him.
I need to be a good mate.
I don’t know how I am going to do that but I need to try.
He can’t shoulder it all on his own.
I won’t let him.
Chapter 480: Doubt with a lot of fear
Jabi
I watch him as he grabs a bag from the closet and starts to put clothes inside. I don’t know what he is doing or where he wants us to go but I just want him to take a breather and talk about what happened.
He is dressed in cleans clothes now, after having a shower. All the bloodstains seem like something he wants to forget about and he hasn’t even talked to me about it yet. I know he did something to Lenny but I don’t know what he did.
"I need you to pack a couple of things you will need,’’ he tells me as he finishes putting some clothes inside the bag.
"Where are we going?’’ I manage quietly.
I don’t want to do or say anything that will upset him or make him think about the things that I have done.
"The community,’’ he tells me as he drops the bag on the floor and walks over to the closet again. I wait for him to come out again and he does after a couple of minutes with another bag. ’Here, I need you to put some things here,’’ he manages before walking to the bed and opening his drawer by the table. I watch him as he brings out his phone charger and laptop.
"Why are we going to the community?’’
He turns to me with a frown on his face "That motherfucker knows where we live, I don’t want him to come back and try anything. We need to hide out for a while.’’
"I thought he was dead,’’ I mumble so low for fear that I am wrong.
He nods "He is, but I don’t know for sure. I don’t want to take any chances. I don’t want to relax and have him hurt you.’’
He is talking so fast,
It takes me a while to piece together what he is saying.
"Okay.’’
I mumble "You are ready?"
"We need to go.’’ He says as I walk out of the closet with a couple of shirts in my hands.
I nod and toss them into the bag as he stands up and walks over to me. He grabs my hands in his and squeezes them gently "I know you are scared right now and I am not helping you but I promise, everything will be okay.’’
His assurance is comforting but I wish I was the one giving it to him. I wish I was the shoulder that he could lean on.
"I am sorry,’’ I manage with a small smile on my face.
"You didn’t do anything. These things happen. I am the one that let it happen in the first place.’’ He is still holding my hands but he puts them down by his side.
"I just want you to be safe,’’ I tell him as he leans forward and rests his head on my forehead. I close my eyes because I wish we could just stay like this--without any problems.
Just me and him.
In this world.
"I love you so much,’’ he whispers as I slowly part my eyes open and wait for him to kiss me. His lips touch mine and I feel it in my soul. He kisses me with so much love and tenderness it is hard to resist. His lips are soft and warm as they explore my mouth. We linger just a little longer than we should. I don’t know if I want to stop it or want to make it last forever.
He pulls away from me and looks at me with so much love and tenderness in his eyes. I feel the hot tears in my eyes as I whisper "I love you too."
We don’t say anything else and he grabs my hand again and walks out of the room. I follow him out of the apartment with the bags in our grip.
This is our home and Lenny is making me leave my home.
I have never hated anyone as much as I hate him.
***************
We get to the community and Beau is waiting for us by the gate. I don’t know what Darrien told him but he has this look of worry on his face as he welcomes us into the community.
We left the pack because it didn’t feel like home but now, we are coming back because this is the only place Darrien feels safe and protected. This whole ordeal just makes it seem like this place is home to Darrien.
I come down from the car and Beau walks over to me "Hey,’’ he smiles at me but I see the pity in his eyes. Beau has always treated me like a child. Like someone, he needs to watch out for. In fact, everyone has always treated me like I am fragile and maybe they are all right.
Why else would Darrien need to kill someone for me?
Why else would I put him in this kind of situation?
The fact that I can’t even remember everything that happened just makes me even angrier. I hate that he is the one that remembers, that he has to think about it and see it.
I wish I didn’t put him through this.
"You okay kiddo?’’ he asks me as he slings his arm over my shoulder and pulls me into the community.
"Yeah."
I manage as we walk inside.
Beau continues to stare at me with those sad eyes.
"You are still scared, right?’’
I shake my head and try not to think about the thoughts that are pushing their way inside my head.
"I’ll come by and check on you tomorrow,’’ Beau offers but I shake my head before he can say anything.
"No, it’s okay,’’ I tell him. I really don’t want to talk about this with anyone. I need to talk to Darrien. We need to actually have a conversation about what happened. He frowns "I will come and check up on you tomorrow."
It is almost like he is not asking.
Like he is telling me that he is going to like it is not an option. We walk into the community and I look around with a sense of fear and trepidation. I don’t want to bring any problems to the confinements of the community.
He walks me to the house and I hear Darrien’s footsteps behind us.
Once in front of the house. He stops walking "It’s going to be fine, don’t you worry about anything.’’ he tries to assure me but I am not so sure.
I am terrified because I feel like it is not over.
Like we haven’t heard the last of Lenny.
I hope I am wrong.
