Ch. 481..485: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 481-485
Chapter 481: Communication
Darrien
"I don’t think he is dead,’’ I manage as I run my hands through my hair from the frustration I feel right now.
"What did you do with his body?’’ Beau asks me calmly.
I sigh because I don’t even want to have to think about what happened after. I don’t want to think about how I had to carry his body to the car, how I had to bury him in the woods. I don’t want to have to think about how I became a monster to protect the man I love. I have done a lot of bad things in my life; I am no fucking saint but I have never killed someone that didn’t fight back.
"I buried him. His heart was out of his chest, so I shouldn’t even have these thoughts in my mind right now. The doubt that he might still be alive scares the fuck out of me.
"Why do you think he might still be alive. there must be a reason why you have these worries.’’
I nod because I can’t stop thinking about the smile on his face as I ripped his heart out. There was no aorta of fear. It is almost like that was what he wanted. Like he wanted me to freak out. That was the reaction he was hoping for.
"I don’t know, maybe it is all in my head. I am just so worried. Have you ever heard anything about the myths of hybrids?’’
He furrows his brows "No, this is something that doesn’t happen."
"He was interested in Jabi because of his blood. Which makes me think there is more that we are not aware of. Something that could in turn be a problem. Your babies are hybrids, Gyles is a hybrid. It seems like the community is full of hybrids. Should it be something we have to worry about?’’
I have been thinking about it for some time now. If word got out, that we have hybrids here and their blood is actually as special as Lenny said, then it could lead to a problem.
There will be vampires out there that would want their blood, just as Lenny did. There will always be people that wouldn’t follow the treaty. It is normal to have people that never follow the rules.
"Shit," he exclaims and I know that he is thinking the same thoughts as I am. This could be a problem that we don’t need right now.
"I am going to go home and ask my father. Get more information on this before we panic." I tell him.
He nods his head slowly.
"Does it ever end?’’
I have been thinking the same thing. Like when will we just have peace. I am tired of these problems. I just want to live a peaceful life with Jabi and not have to worry about anything hurting us.
"I don’t know man, I don’t know.’’
**********************
I walk into the house and Jabi stands up from the couch immediately. He is looking at me but he doesn’t make a move to come to me. He is acting weird and I don’t want that. Somehow, it feels like he thinks this is all his fault.
I know that this is not his fault because Lenny would have found a way to get to him, even if he didn’t push.
"Are you hungry?’’ I ask him as I slowly walk over to him. He is still standing on the same spot.
"No, I am fine.’’
I know he is lying. I know him too well to even think he isn’t. It has been hours since he had any real food.
"Let me go and get meat from Beau’s house. I don’t want you skipping meals.’’
"Elu gave me blood earlier, I don’t need to eat tonight."
I sigh because I know we have to actually talk about everything that has happened. I don’t want to keep how I feel to myself. I walk over to the couch and pull him with me, he follows me obediently. I always want to communicate with him, let him know where my head is at and right now, my head is in a confused fog.
I don’t know what we are going to do with all the information that I have gathered. For now, we know that a hybrid’s blood might be special. Something that other vampires might want and that could bring danger to the community. Especially knowing that we have hybrids here.
I sit down on the couch and he sits on my lap gently. His eyes roam around me like he is trying to figure me out but he can’t. I have always been an open book with him but I don’t want him to read my fear right now, since this is basically like the first time, I have ever cared about something so much.
I have a lot to lose and I can’t lose him.
"I know you think this is all your fault,’’ I reach for him and cup his face softly. His eyes remain on me "This is not your fault. don’t ever think it is,’’ I add calmly. "I want you to ask me anything, and I will answer,’’ I add. I want to be an open book with him. I have to be.
"What happened with Lenny? What did he tell you when you went to find him?’’ he asks me finally. I knew this was going to be the first thing he would ask and I am okay with it.
"He took your blood from you. He didn’t hide it."
He furrows his brows in confusion "Why me? He could have any human’s blood. What did he want from mine?’’
I tell him everything and I watch him as he digests my words. I see the flicker in his eyes, the doubt, the fear and I didn’t want him to feel this way. I want to be his comfort, his protector but this is where we are at right now. This is the only way that I can protect him.
"What if he is not dead?"
I can see that he has the same worries as me. There is a part of me that believes he is still alive. I just find it hard to believe that he is dead.
Some part of me doesn’t believe it and Jabi seems to think that way too.
Chapter 482: Invasion of privacy
Lenny
I feel his blood in my veins as my heart throbs against my chest. It is dark and it feels like I am suffocating but I know what this is, I know what happened and I know how to get out of this. The sand is all over me, he fucking buried me.
I knew he was trying to kill me and I let him.
I needed to know for sure, I needed to know if the blood of a hybrid is a powerful as they say it is and this just proves it is.
I risked my life to get to this point. I don’t have any regrets. I have lived long enough to fear death. If it ended up not working, I would still be glad I tried. So here I am, buried alive.
I can see the sky and I can hear the sand crunch and the wind make its way through the dry skin of my skull. The sun is shining as I dig a hole through the sand to see something. My heart is pumping and I wonder if he is still out there. I wonder if he waited to see if I really died.
I dig a hole right in the middle of the sand and catch a whiff of air. I literally died and came back to life. His blood worked all the wonders that I knew it would. Now I am certain.
I am going to have him.
Jabi
I open my eyes and I am covered in sweat. My heart is beating so fast, it feels like it is going to explode in my chest. Darrien is next to me on the bed but his eyes are wide open.
He turns to me slowly as I shift closer to him and manages a faint smile "You okay?’’ he asks me calmly.
His hands pull me closer and I cuddle up against him.
"Do you hate that we are here?’’ he asks suddenly.
I look up at him "No, I just hate that we came here because of me.’’
He glares at me with a frown "I told you this is not your fault. Sooner or later, someone would have come across you and wanted your blood. I am just glad that we found out now.’’
I nod even though I feel like crap.
I feel helpless, even though I know that I am not.
"The community is the safest place for you right now. You are with people that will fight to protect you and this is not something I can do on my own anymore."
I understand what he means but I also wish he didn’t always feel the need to protect me. I am stronger than I have given myself credit for. I should be able to protect him sometimes. I close my eyes and feel him wrap his arm around my shoulders and I rest my head against his chest.
"You should go back to sleep now,’’ he says softly. I nod as I turn over to face him and I curl up against his chest.
"Thanks’’ I whisper with a soft laugh.
He doesn’t say anything but I can feel his strength flow into me and it makes me feel safe.
I lay there for a few minutes before I suddenly sit up.
"Darrien?’’ I call out softly.
"Yeah?’’ he asks.
"Can we go for a run?’’ I ask him out of the blue. We haven’t gone for a run in a while. The feelings I get with running with him is everything and right now I want to feel that way. I want to escape from the drama that has come from Lenny and the whole special Hybrids blood.
"Right now?’’ he looks out of the little window and it is dark outside.
"Yeah, it’s pitch black out there. We should be able to see the moon, right?"
He looks at me and I can tell he is about to say no but then he nods "Yes, we can go for a run.’’
I jump out of the bed and run to the door and he follows me out of the house and in the direction of the woods. I haven’t turned in a while and I need to feel my wolf outside. I want him to take the reins for a while and I want to feel him growling. I don’t want to be weak and I don’t want to feel the way I feel right now.
"Remember how we do it?’’ Darrien tells me with a smile on his face.
He runs up to my pace which has become very fast. Having him next to me is the best gift I have been given. I don’t need a pack; I just need him.
I feel the transition taking over and I feel my wolf come out instantly, almost like he has been starved. Darrien is right beside me and that is what makes this all better. I trust that he is there with me, I trust that nothing is going to happen.
Once in full transition, I turn to him slowly and he gives me a warm smile, like the one he gave me the first time we ever ran together.
It makes me feel alive.
I want to run forever and I want it to never stop.
I knew this would feel better, I knew that this was what I needed and I am glad that he gave it to me.
JABI.
I stop as the sound of a familiar voice swarm my head. Darrien stops with me immediately as I fall to the cold ground. He runs over to me but I can’t communicate with him while Lenny is in my head.
How is this even possible?
Why is he here?
Jabi.
He calls my name again.
My wolf is panicking. this is an invasion of our privacy. I don’t want him inside my head. He is supposed to be dead.
Why is he still alive?
I will find you Jabi.
You are mine.
Chapter 483: Takeover
Jabi
His screams in my head make me recoil on the ground. I am still in my wolf form, to Darrien, I must look hurt but I am just terrified.
"Baby, what is wrong?’’ he asks immediately, his hands reaching for my fur. I don’t know how to tell him that Lenny is alive. We have had this doubt in our minds. Deep down, I knew that something was not right. I knew there was a chance that Lenny was still alive and this just proves it all.
I close my eyes and my wolf creeps back inside me and I come out. I am naked and it is cold as I open my eyes but Darrien is looking at me with concern filled eyes. I reach for him and he pulls me up into his arms and lifts me off the ground. His body engulfs me as I try to take steady breaths to calm myself down.
I have to tell him what happened but I am so worried that this will make him tense again. Things were just going good again and now, Lenny is back into our lives. I don’t know how to explain it to him properly.
I don’t know how to say this properly. I don’t even know the words to say it.
I am so scared.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how to tell him that we were wrong. He leads me back to the house but he doesn’t say anything. I hold him tightly for fear of Lenny crawling back to my mind. I don’t even know how it was possible in the first place. It felt like a mind link but how is that even possible?
How did he get into my mind?
Once inside the house, he places me on the couch and walks into the room. I see him as he comes back into the living room with clothes in his grip. His eyes are fixed on me and I know that he wants to ask me what happened.
"He came into my mind,’’ I tell him immediately as I collect the shirt from him. His eyes open wide from the shock of my words.
"How are you sure it was him?’’ he is trying to fish for hope. Something else that would prove that this is not Lenny’s handwork. "It was Lenny’s voice, he wanted me to know that he was the one,’’ I tell him. I exhale and close my eyes. I almost need to just let my head fall back on the couch and rest.
Darrien’s eyes widen in shock and disbelief.
"What are you saying?’’
I feel my head could fall off and it is just plain old exhaustion that comes through me.
"He said I was his." As I say those words, I feel like shit. I didn’t want to have to say this to Darrien. I didn’t want him to worry but I can’t keep this from him. "He’s come back,’’ I say and tears start streaming down my face.
"You are sure?" he asks. I nod. I can’t read his face.
"He told me that he would never let me go. He said that I was his. I am so sure that it was him.’’
I tell him.
Darrien comes closer to me and leans in. He leans over me and I can feel his heartbeat.
"Did he say anything else?" he asks me. I shake my head. He takes this all in, his face is almost a mask of shock.
"Baby, I am sorry.’’ He says. I see his tear fall down. This is the first time I have ever seen Darrien cry. Granted, he is not crying, I mean, it is just a tear but I know that he is scared and I have never seen him like this.
"We are safe here, I just need to go and talk to Beau again,’’ he stands up from the couch. It is a good thing I am not feeling so strong right now because I would have been on my feet in an attempt to stop him from leaving me.
He stops before he gets to the door "I need you to stay here, can you promise me that you won’t leave the house.’
I nod. He opens the door and leaves. I am sitting on the couch, my head falls back and my eyes are closed. I can’t even get to the point to feel sorry for myself, I feel like crap. I am worried for Darrien and we have a lot to deal with. He might say that this is not my fault but I feel like it is.
I know that it is.
I close my eyes because as each second passes by, I feel even weaker. I don’t know what Lenny did to me but somehow, it feels like whatever he did is taking its toll on me. The more I try to keep my eyes open, the harder it is. I am tired.
I just want to be asleep.
Maybe I will feel better if I do. I hear the door open slowly and I manage to squint my eyes open. Everywhere is blurry, almost like I can’t see properly. "Darrien,’’ I manage to say in a low whisper. I try to sit up but I can’t. Maybe something is wrong with me. I open my eyes wider and the person in front of me is not Darrien. My vision clears up as the figure crouches over me in front of the couch. There is a smile on his face. The kind of smile that terrifies me. I can’t move. I hang in fear of what’s to come.
"Hello, Jabi,’’ he says gently as he comes closer to me. He reaches out a hand to touch my face. I flinch. I feel like I have been punched. I try to move but my limbs feel heavy. I can’t move.
"Don’t touch me,’’ I beg him because I can’t move right now.
He places his hand down and takes a deep breath "I am not here to hurt you. I will never hurt you,’’ he breathes out the words but I don’t believe him.
"Please,’’ I beg him desperately because he has the upper hand right now. I want to scream for Darrien but I feel paralyzed.
He did something to me.
"I am taking you with me, I will love you as much as he did,’’ he reaches for me and I can’t fight him. I don’t have the energy too.
NO.
Chapter 484: I win
Darrien
I go over to the main house just as Beau is walking out of the front door. He looks up at me with a confused expression plastered on his face "Hey,’’ he calls me out but I am panicking.
Right now, I don’t know what to do, somehow, coming here doesn’t seem like such a good idea anymore. If Lenny is still alive, then that means that he is going to look for Jabi and somehow, I led him to the community.
There are too many hybrids here.
It is almost like I led him to the buffet.
"He’s not dead,’’ I tell him immediately. He furrows his brows for a second before it registers in his mind.
"Fuck,’’ he runs his hands through his hair.
"Who is this fucker?’’ he asks me a question that I don’t even know the answer to. Lenny just came into our lives and fucked everything up.
"I don’t know. He is just some guy that just came out of fucking nowhere.’’
He nods and leads me into the house. We walk in until we get to the living room and I shut the door behind us. "Your family is the only vampires in town. Why is he here in the first place?"
He is asking me questions when all I want is a solution to this. I hear footsteps and Alanis peeps his head into the living room.
"What’s wrong?’’ he asks immediately when he notices me and the worry on my face. Beau stands up and walks over to him hurriedly. I hear his whispers as he assures him that there is nothing wrong. I don’t know why he would tell him that especially since he has hybrid babies.
"Are you sure?’’ Alanis looks at me, almost like he knows that I won’t hide it from him. I nod because I need Beau’s help and I don’t want to upset him right now. It is not a good idea to keep it from his mate.
"I’ll be with you in a minute,’’ he tells him and I watch him kiss his lips gently. Alanis disappears and Beau turns back to me "I don’t want to worry him unless there is something to worry about." He shrugs. I don’t object, or tell him that I think he should tell him because that is not for me to say.
"Let’s go see Blue," he tells me and I stand up from the couch as we walk out of the house. We are the three people that will be tremendously affected by this because we have hybrids in our lives.
Blue and Rex have Gyles, Beau has his babies and I have Jabi--my whole life in one person.
He is the one who I most need to be concerned about.
When we get to the front of their house, he turns to me "Where is Jabi right now, did you leave him alone?’’
I nod even though thinking about it now, I should have brought him with me. I hated him seeing me the way I was. I have never felt so useless in my life. I just needed to get some fresh air and that is why I left him at the house.
"Do you think that was a bad move?’’ I ask him.
He shakes his head "Not really, he might not like being alone with his thoughts after what happened.’’
I know and I have been messing up lately but I haven’t had to handle something like this. I have always been on my own. I didn’t worry about anyone but myself and now, I have someone that I would die for and I don’t want him to see me as weak. I want him to know that he can always count on me.
That is the main reason why I left him. I saw the pain in his eyes, the fear and I didn’t know what to say to make it better. "Just make sure he is okay after this. Stay with him, he needs you the most right now," he advises and I nod even though I feel like shit.
After a couple of minutes, the door opens and Blue peers at us from the other side of it. He is dressed in pair of black shorts and a plain white tank. His hair is packed in a messy man bun "Hey,’’ he manages.
"Hey,’’ Rex coughs out, I look over Blue’s shoulders and Rex is behind him. Blue opens the door and we walk into the house "What up?’’ he asks immediately.
"We have a situation,’’ Beau goes straight to the point. I know that Blue is still dealing with some issues with his mother. I don’t even know what’s up with that and what they are doing to do about it.
The fact that I am here to add to the problems he has, just makes me feel even worse.
"What kind of situation?" Blue asks as he leads us back to the living room.
Beau tells him about what Lenny has done and how he just came into their lives, how he is a threat and I just watch them.
Baby
I send Jabi a mind link, just to check up on him but all I get is radio silence.
"Hybrid blood?’’ Blue asks with furrowed brows.
"Apparently it is the new craze of the town.’’
The whole thing is just a new development.
How do they even think about these things?
Why is there always a problem?
I stand up "I need to go back to Jabi,’’ I interrupt them because something feels wrong. They all look up at me just as Gyles walks into the living room.
"Sure, Beau tells me as I leave them and walk hastily back to our house. I get to the small cabin and the first thing I notice is the front door open. I take a few steps into the house and the couch is empty. My heart starts to race as I start to panic. Worried that something might have happened to him.
"Jabi is not here,’’ I whisper to myself as I walk further into the house. I don’t need to even check the house. It is obvious that he is not here, I can’t feel him anymore.
I hear Jabi’s phone on the counter table as it vibrates and I run over to it. Once I pick it up, I see a message from Lenny.
I WIN.
Chapter 485: Precious
Jabi
"You have nothing to be afraid of, I am never going to hurt you,’’ he looks at me through the rearview mirror as he goes down the road. I am not tied up, just seated at the back of the car but I can’t move.
Tears are pouring out of my eyes, but I don’t care. I feel like I am going to go insane right now. He took me away from the community which just means he walked in with no fear. He is the worst type of person.
How can he do this to me? My eyes are focused on the road but I see everything. The roads that we pass, all the street signs. I want to know where we are going and how I will get out of this mess when given the chance.
"Why are you crying?’’ he asks me calmly.
How can he ask me this?
"I don’t want to be here, let me go,’’ I try to move but my hands and legs are numb. I don’t know what Lenny has done but this all seems planned. Like he didn’t coincidentally meet me at school. Like he has wanted to do this all along.
"Do you know why I took you away from Darrien?’’ he asks me as he focuses on the road.
I don’t want him to say his name. I don’t want to know anything. I just want him to let me go.
"Please, don’t do this to me. I thought you wanted to be my friend,’’ I tell him desperate for a miracle.
He smiles "I am your friend. I will be whatever you want me to be,’’ he adds.
I want to scream at him to just let me go but I have no voice. Tears run down my face. I don’t want this to be happening.
"He is going to find me. We are connected," I tell him in a low whisper. It feels like I am losing the little strength I have left inside me. It is almost like he is taking it away from me when he wants to.
"I know that, have you noticed that you can’t send him a mind link?’’ he asks me calmly.
I don’t know what to do. I am just sitting there. He is driving for what feels like an eternity.
"I had to do a lot to make this happen, so you have to know how important you are to me.’’
"Please,’’ I try again.
He sighs "I am not the monster that you think I am. Give me a chance and you will see that this could work out.’’ I have no idea what he means by these words but I am scared. I don’t want to be around him.
He took me against my will.
For what?
"Why me?’’ I ask him.
He turns the steering wheel "You are the only one of your kind. At least the on you that I’ve seen so far.’’
I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to be around him.
I remain quiet because I don’t even want to continue this conversation.
After a few minutes, he stops the car and turns to me slowly "I promise you’ll be safe. You can trust me.’’ I would love to believe him but there is a huge problem here. I don’t trust him, I don’t want to be with him.
I hate him so much.
I want to go home, I want Darrien.
I turn away from him and he starts the car again. I keep my eyes on the road and I watch him as he takes turns and turns. I watch him for as long as I can hold out for. The weakness I have been feeling suddenly takes over again and I feel my eyes closing again. My heartbeat is slow, my hands and legs are numb. Slowly, my eyes close and I succumb to the weakness.
*******************
I open my eyes and I am in a dark room. The only light comes from a window at the far end of the room. The sky is dark, the moon is shining brightly. I sit up from the bed and look around. I can’t see anything but I know I am being watched.
Suddenly, there is a sound from outside the room. I stay on the bed because I am scared. I don’t know what is happening but I am not myself.
I feel like a completely different person and I don’t know how to get out of this mess. I don’t know how to go back to what is important.
The door to the room opens slowly and Lenny walks in with a bottle in his grip. He is wearing dark jeans a white shirt. Different from what he has on when he A smile sprawls on his face when he sees me "You are awake,’’ he mutters as he walks over to me with the bottle.
"Here,’’ he hands me the bottle and my sense heightens immediately.
I know it is blood instantly.
"I don’t want anything from you,’’ I turn away from him.
He sighs "You will go crazy if you don’t take it,’’ he nudges the bottle at me but I just shake my head. I won’t give in to him, I will not let him think he has won. I will find a way to get out of here.
I am not weak and I will fight to get out of here but first, I need a plan.
I can’t just sit back and let him think that he has won.
"Whatever you are thinking, just stop. I don’t want to have to hurt you. I want to be good to you if you would let me."
I clutch my hands into fists as he gives me a small smile. He is acting all high and mighty. I hate it.
I don’t want to hear anything from him.
I lie down on the bed with my back to him. I don’t even want to have to look at his face. I don’t want to talk to him and I don’t want blood from him.
"You are precious, you have no idea,’’ I hear him as he stands up and I hear the door as it closes with a click.
I want to go home.
