Chapter 486: Maniac

Darrien

"You can’t just go looking for him when you don’t have any leads," Beau tells me but I am at this point in my life where I have nothing else but him. Lenny is messing with me and maybe this is the reaction that he wants. This is the reaction that I am going to give him.

I will find Jabi and I will fucking kill Lenny.

"I don’t give a shit, I need to find him,’’ I try to calm my breathing but I can’t. I am going insane with anger. I want to hurt him so badly, rip him into a million pieces.

"What is going on?’’ Alanis walks out of the house when he sees me with Beau.

Beau looks at me but I can’t keep this from Lanis "Jabi is missing. Someone took him. I need to find him,’’ I tell him immediately even though Beau is against it.

"How is that possible?’’ he asks immediately.

"I have called a meeting, it happened in the community, which doesn’t make sense because the gates were guarded."

"Yeah, and did you get any leads? Like who took him?’’

"I know who fucking took him but I can’t sense him. I don’t know where they are, I don’t know what he fucking wants. I don’t know what to do." I run my hands through my hair in frustration.

"Calm down, Darrien. Beau is right. You can’t just go looking for him when you don’t know where he is.’’

"I can’t just sit here and do nothing, Beau. He is my mate. I have to bring him home. How would you feel if someone took your babies if someone took Alanis?" "Then you need to get some leads, you need to find a way to feel him, that is the only way you will be able to find him.’’ He is right, I know he is right, but I can’t just sit around and wait for him to come home. "I am going to find him. I am going to find Jabi. I will find help. I am going to find a way.’’

I am going to find a way, I am going to find a way. My voice is telling me to calm down but I can’t.

I leave them because I don’t want anyone to see me this way. I just want to find him and make sure he is okay. I know what Lenny is using him for. He is literally going to be a blood bank to him. That is all he wants, his blood.

I walk all the way to the gates and go into my car. I grab my phone from my pocket and dial the only person I can think of that I can trust.

"Amber, it is Darrien.’’

Amber is not someone I want to call. She is someone that I would only call when I am desperate and right now, I have never been more desperate for her help.

I hear her breathing through the phone and I know she is hesitant to do this for me. She will be reluctant to help me and that is fine, I don’t care.

Our relationship is complicated. The kind of relationship that should have never happened but she is the only person I have ever trusted. She is not a typical good person but she was good to me.

"It has been decades, it must be important,’’ she sighs into the phone finally. I know she also doesn’t want to hear from me either. Our story is not one that I like to revisit. I don’t even want to think about it but I know she is the only one that can help me.

"I know, trust me I know this is not the best idea I have ever had and I know you don’t want to see me, I know we have history but I wouldn’t be calling you if I didn’t need your help right now."

"You found her,’’ she breathes into the phone. I feel the pain etched in her voice but I can’t think about how hurt she is at that thought. I can’t think about how I always knew that we would never be each other’s links. I can’t think about how I left her in the dead of the night with no choice.

I can only think about Jabi--my happiness and how he could be hurt right now.

"Can I come over? I need your help,’’ I repeat, not answering her question. "Darrien, what the hell is going on?’’

"Can you just tell me that you won’t turn me away? I need you to tell me that you can’t turn me away. I need you to tell me you will help me. I need you to tell me that you won’t turn me away because I am going crazy.’’ I tell her immediately.

Even Amber has never seen me vulnerable. Jabi is the only person that has ever seen me like this and because of him, I am showing her something that I never used to before. "I am going to help you,’’ she whispers into the phone.

I start the car with the phone still presses to my ear.

"Come over Darrien."

I end the call and start the drive, calling Amber is my last resort and it is something that I need to do to find him. I know she is the only one that can help me as quick as I need. I know she is the only one that will be able to trace him.

I might come to regret this decision but as long as I have him, alive and well. I will take the chances.

This is my fault.

I am the one that left him alone. I should have known better. There is no time for the blame game but I need to find him. I need to get him safely back to me. I drive like a maniac, I drive to her house and silently hope that she helps me with this.

Chapter 487: Fail

Darrien

I get to the house and I see the light on in her bedroom window.

I know she is waiting for me.

It has been such a long time but the memories make it feel like yesterday. I used to come here all the time. Escape from my family. She was the only one I got along with. The only one I cared about in this messed up world and I thought I was in love. I used to believe that she would eventually become my link.

I thought I knew what love was with her. I felt everything but I never even knew what it was until Jabi. He is the only one that can make me feel everything. He is the only one that I want to be with for the rest of my life.

I park the car and get down immediately, just as I walk over to the front door, she opens it up and there is a faint smile on her face. this is awkward for me and I know it must be the same for her. We didn’t end things on good terms. Our relationship exploded right before my eyes and I didn’t fight for her. I just walked away.

I walk into the entrance and she looks at me with her deep chocolate brown eyes and that intense stare is still in her eyes. I know she already knows why I am here and I know that she is going to help me but what comes after her help.

What will she expect from me?

"It has been years," she exclaims calmly.

She is dressed in a white nightgown; her hair is up in a ponytail. Her skin is pale, as pale as it always used to be. Her eyes are bright and wholesome.

"Yes, it has,’’ I manage.

She takes a step towards me, her stare still intense "You want me to help you find her?’’ she manages.

I didn’t correct her earlier but I feel like I need to know. When Beau was missing, I didn’t even think to call Amber, I didn’t want to bring her into my life again. I didn’t want to take the chance but with Jabi, I don’t even care.

I don’t know what else I can do and she is the only option.

"He’s a he.’’

She furrows her eyebrows, "a boy?’’

I nod my head "yes, a boy. His name is Jabi.’’

"How is that even possible D?’’

I don’t want to go into all that right now. I didn’t come here to catch up with her. I came here to ask her if she can help me find him. The fact that I left Amber in my past is something I don’t even want to think about. She is in the past and I will leave her there once I find him.

Me not responding to her gives her the hint that I am not here for small talk "You know what I need, so yeah.’’ she tells me after my silence. I pass his shirt to her, the one I brought with me. As long as he is still alive, she will be able to find him. She walks away from me with the shirt and I follow her until we get to her living room. She has a process and it should be easy for her. I hope she does this as fast as possible.

She sits in her living room chair and I stand behind her. She starts the process.

The room is so cold, as it always used to be. This is her special ability. One that will be useful to me right now.

One that will help me find Jabi.

I watch her as she places the shirt on her face and takes a whiff of it. The ability to be able to sense anyone, anywhere in the world. I watch her as I wait, wait for her to bring him to me. Wait for her to tell me the answers I need. Amber is the only one that can help me.

This situation with Lenny has to be solved with Violence.

I have to kill him and make sure he is actually dead.

"There is a wall around him, one that was put there by magic. One that will be very hard to break,’’ she tells me as her breathing spikes. Her hands clutch his shirt. My eyes stay on that shirt which used to be mine. This was the first cloth that Jabi took from me. He made it his and now, his scent is all over it.

"Can you at least feel him, is he scared, hurt? Please give me something,’’ I beg desperately. She closes her eyes and I watch her as she draws power from inside of her. I can feel her power surge through all of her.

She sighs and she focuses on him, she senses him as her power is slowly building.

"Whatever is blocking him from me is very strong. Stronger than I have ever seen. which makes me worried about what you have been involved with."

Fucking Lenny.

She opens her eyes slowly and suddenly, the only hope that I thought I had seems like a fucking dead end "I couldn’t find him. It seems near too impossible.’’

My heart sinks in my chest.

I lose all hope in a split second.

"Fuck,’’ I exclaim in despair as she stands up from the chair. She walks over to me quickly and holds out her arm, a small handprint on her arm.

"What is this?’’

She shows me the mark "This is a repercussion of me trying to get in. That is how strong the magic is and I want to help you. I want to try and get in but I need something stronger. I need something more personal from him."

I know what she is asking for but I don’t know what else I could bring.

"I want to help you with whatever is going on but I can’t promise you that I will succeed. I will help you as much as I can. Bring me something that I can use and we will go from there."

Fuck.

Chapter 488: Helpless

Jabi

The door opens again and he walks in with another bottle in his hand. I look at the table and the one he gave me last night is still there. I am being stubborn but I know that I need to actually drink the blood. I need all the strength I can get to get out of here. For once in my life, I want to prove to everyone that I am strong enough to fight my own battles and I have been thinking about it all night.

I just don’t know how I am going to get out of here.

"Hi,’’ he manages as he drops the bottle on the table, next to the other one. "I need you to drink the blood Jabi. I need blood from you, that is the only way this thing can be mutual,’’ he adds.

I furrow my brows "I don’t want to give you my blood," I tell him blatantly.

He cups his hand around my jaw and puts his face close to mine. "Listen,’’ he sighs "I need you to make this easy for the both of us. You can’t keep pushing me away when you have nowhere else to go.’’

"I have a home; I have a mate. You are keeping me here against my will,’’ I remind him because he seems to think I will cooperate with him to survive. I will rather be dead than cooperate with him.

"Drink the blood Jabi, please."

He moves away from me and I watch him as he walks out of the room and closes the door gently. I sink into the bed and close my eyes for a second. I don’t know what he did to me but I don’t feel as weak as I felt yesterday. I have been here for a day and it feels like I am suffocating inside these walls.

You need to do something about this.

My wolf tells me.

Yes, I know you are right but I don’t know how I am going to get out of here. I don’t know how I could possibly trick someone who seems to have everything planned and figured out.

Lenny seems to know what he is doing. He seems to know what he wants and right now, all he wants is my blood.

Drink the blood.

Get stronger and get the hell out of here.

I look at the bottles on the table, the blood is calling to me but I have been trying o have self-control. I have been trying to show him that I am stubborn but it is not working. Maybe my wolf is right. I know I need to find a way to escape but how can I. I stand up from the bed and walk over to the window. there are bars on the other part of the window, it just makes me feel like I am in some sort of prison. I look out of the window and all I see is the ocean.

The water, in the middle of nowhere.

I don’t know where we are and how I can get out of here. He must have known to bring me here before he even took me. I should have insisted on following Darrien. I shouldn’t have let him leave me alone.

I walk back to the bed and grab the first bottle from the table. I open it and then drink it down. I feel like I am finally getting the strength back but I am not sure how much strength this bottle will give me. I drink the whole bottle and go to the next one. I didn’t realize how thirsty I was. I didn’t realize how much I needed this. Just as I am done, the door opens and he walks in. His eyes dart to the table and a wide smile spread on his face.

"You finally finished my bottles,’’ he says and moves towards me. I try to push him away but he is too strong for me. He grabs my arm and then pins me to the bed. My breath gets stuck in my throat as he leans down and kisses my neck. I am frozen. I can’t stop it from happening, I am letting him do this. The only thing I am doing is crying out in pain as he bites my skin. I try to cry out but I am unable to. I can only look at him as he bites and drags his canine fangs across my neck. He keeps licking until it is all over. I feel my arms being tied down as he takes in my blood. The strength I just got. The strength I was supposed to use to get out of here.

I lie there, unable to stop this violation from happening. Unable to do anything and suddenly a memory springs up to my head. He has done this to me before, everything Dar said was true. Under the bleachers, the pleas. This is all like deja vu and just like the last time, it seems like I am helpless, like I can’t do anything to get out of this.

Help me.

I silently beg my wolf, even though he is a part of me. Even though I am supposed to be the strong one in this.

I try but nothing happens.

You have to do this on your own. You have to learn to protect yourself.

My wolf tries to motivate me but I can’t do anything. I can’t fight him, he is just too strong for me and the more of my blood he drinks, the weaker I get. I lie there, helpless as he finishes off.

I feel violated as he gets up from the bed, licking his lips slowly "Thank you for that Jabi, I really mean it."

He walks out of the room and I am alone again. This time, I feel worse. It feels like he took something from me. Something that I can never get back and I couldn’t fight him.

I couldn’t do anything.

I am useless.

Useless without Darrien and this time, I don’t think he can find me.

I haven’t felt him all day and I know he can’t feel me too.

I am in trouble.

Chapter 489: The island

Jabi

I open my eyes and the light from the sun hits me blindly. I am so weak, so hungry. I haven’t seen Lenny since that night. I haven’t been able to count the days since that night. I haven’t been able to stay awake for more than a few minutes. This is the most torture I have ever been through and I have been through a lot in my life.

I have been abandoned, not cared for, I have starved for so many days, but this time, I don’t see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. I want to get out of here but I don’t know how else I can.

I try to sit up and

I can’t because I am so weak. The door opens and my heart lunges in my chest but that fear that I had disappears when I see a woman walk into the room. She is carrying a tray with her, as she walks over to the bed.

"You’re awake, finally,’’ she smiles as she drops the tray on the table beside the bed. I don’t even look at the tray, my eyes stay fixed on her. I didn’t know there was anyone here. I thought it was just me and Lenny. I think I’m too weak to be afraid.

"I came to check on you, he said I should give you something to eat." She tells me even though I didn’t ask.

"Can you help me?’’ I ask her my eyes fixed on her. I want to stand up but I can’t. I don’t have the energy to even move.

"With?’’ she furrows her brows as she asks me quietly. There is a faint smile on her face, almost like she is oblivious to what is happening right now.

"Help me get out of here,’’ this time, I manage to sit up on the bed and I see the raw meat on the plate. He wants to feed me, give me energy so that he can feed on me again. I will not give him the chance to win this.

"There’s nowhere to go, this is home,’’ she smiles. I see the dead look in her eyes. She is being compelled right now.

"You are human,’’ I mutter in shock.

she nods and slowly sits on the bed beside me "Don’t you just love Lenny; he is everything you can ask for.’’

"Where is he right now?’’ I ask her.

She shrugs "He has been gone for a couple of days. He should be back soon,’’ she tells me. This time, I stretch my legs out, until they hit the wooden floor. My knees are weak but I lean over to the tray for the meat. I need my strength right now because the fact that he is not home means this is a perfect time to figure out what I am going to do.

"Lenny said I need to make sure you stay in your room, he said you are not strong enough to come out."

I ignore her words and reach for the plate. The meat is cold, the blood is dripping from it as I place it on my lips. I can feel her eyes on me as she watches me eat. I look away from her and to the door, it is slightly open. If I can get out of this room while he is away, then I might be able to escape.

My bites increase, the hunger quenches as I eat all of the meat. Whoever she is, she watches me as I finish the meat.

"That’s gross,’’ she points out as I close my eyes and wait for the kick. The Lycan side of me, getting exactly what I need to be stronger.

I part my lips "I need water,’’ I tell her. She nods her head immediately and jumps up from the bed.

"I will be back," she tells me calmly.

My eyes watch her as she leaves the room and I silently pray as my heart races, the moment I hear the door close, I wait for the click sound. I pray that she forgets and just as I hear a footstep, a smile sprawls to my face. She is gone and the door is open.

I hold onto the bed as I get up and the moment I stand on my feet, I walk over to the door and open it up. I can hear her around the house, she is loud. She is the wrong person to have kept here but I am glad.

I open the door and the hallway is bright, brighter than the room he kept me in. I walk all the way down the steps as fast as I can. I walk until I see the front door, I can hear her rummaging through the kitchen, I ignore her sounds and reach for the door. I open the door and it is cold, but I feel the warmth that comes from the sun. I quickly close the door and continue to walk as I look for somewhere to hide, I need to get to the road. If I can do that, I can get out of here. Find someone that can help me.

I look at the ocean in front of me one last time before I head in the other direction. I am terrified, scared that he will find me but I keep walking. I keep walking until I see trees but there is a path, a path that could lead me out of the beach and to the streets. I walk into the forest and for some reason, I don’t feel like this is the right place. I keep walking but it seems like I am going in circles.

Like there is no way out of here, I turn and turn, lose all the strength in me but I don’t give up. I keep running in hopes that I will find a way out of here but when I get back to the beach, I know that I am in a mess.

I know that there is no way out of here.

I am on a fucking island.

"No,’’ I cry as I stare at the ocean and the sand.

"No,’’ I repeat.

There is no way out of here.

Chapter 490: Worry

Darrien

I look around the room, I look everywhere in the house for anything that could be used as a personal object to find him. I am not thinking straight and Beau and Alanis can see that but I will not stop until I find him.

I will not stop until I get him back.

"Yo, you need to calm down. You are doing that thing where you don’t think with your brain. You are irrational right now and we can’t help you if you are this way.’’

Alanis tells me, following me on my search.

"Do you have any ideas? Do you know how I can find him?’’

He has a sad expression on his face and that gives me the answer I need "Blue is looking for a solution. The good thing about this is that he is not going to kill him. He needs him for his blood, so he will keep him alive,’’ he rationalizes.

I glare at him because he is not making any fucking sense. I don’t care that he is still alive because Lenny needs him. I need him back; I need him away from this mess.

I want my baby back.

"I can’t wait for Blue to figure something out, I will get Amber to find him, she is the only one that can help me find him.’’

he furrows his brows and I regret telling him about her "Amber?’’ he questions with a curious stare. Alanis knows who she is, everyone in my family knows Amber. So, he would know that I must have been desperate to bring her back to my life again. I nod and look back at the drawers. I am looking for anything that we could use.

"Why would you go to Amber?’’ he asks me.

I shrug "You know I had no choice.’’

He scoffs "Dude, anyone but Amber. This is the wrong move and you know it."

Alanis wouldn’t understand, no one can understand how I feel right now and maybe I will regret bringing Amber back into my life but at least, Jabi will be with me again. That is the only thing that matters to me and no one seems to understand. I walk into the small closet. There are a few things here but this isn’t really the place we call home. Jabi has never felt at home here, so I don’t even know if I will find anything here. I hear Alanis’s footsteps as he walks to the door.

"What did she say?’’ he sighs and I turn to him as he runs his hands through his hair.

My eyes go back to the clothes that are hanging. Nothing here is going to help me. I will never be able to find him at this pace.

"She couldn’t find him with his shirt, she is usually able to find people with their belongings. She said there is some force blocking her." He shakes his head and looks at me. There is a very serious look on his face as if he is about to say something.

"Blue is working on it. He mentioned something about a locating spell. Give him some time to get the ingredients. He is the best bet. You have to have a little faith in your family."

It has been two days already. I have gotten no leads. I went to the school. I asked around, no one even knows who Lenny is. He is suddenly a ghost.

I sit down on the floor upon the realization that I am fucked. Jabi is all alone, scared and I don’t know how to find him. I have always prided myself, just knowing that we were connected and it doesn’t make any sense to me that someone can just tether that bond. Choose to block our connection with evil.

There has to be a way, that we can prevent things like this.

I can’t just lose him every time someone feels like they want to hurt him.

My eyes are closed but I feel Alanis’s touch on my shoulder as he tries to comfort me.

I don’t need comfort; I need to find him.

"Hey, can you just give blue a couple of days? Can you trust that we will find him? Lenny needs him alive, so you don’t have to worry about him being hurt.’’

I open my eyes and he is looking at me with worried eyes. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know how I could possibly sit back and just wait for other people to do what I am responsible for.

"Two days, Beau said he is working on a potion. Just two days."

I take a deep breath because two days feel like an eternity. Two days, plus the two days that he has been gone. Jabi is in a bad position. I have to figure something out.

"Two days,’’ he repeats again when he notices my hesitation.

My eyes are locked with his as I feel a tear fall down my cheek.

I shake my head and push his hands away.

The wind rushes against the door.

It is like a voice whisper in my mind as the wind whispers in my ears. I stand up and walk out of the room and out of the house. Alanis doesn’t stop me as I feel the wind hit my skin. The goosebumps crawl up to my skin. I walk in the direction of the woods. I don’t know where I am going, I don’t know what the hell I am doing but my legs keep walking. The sky is getting dark, the moon is coming out. I am without the one that makes my nights worthwhile. I walk and walk until my legs are numb. I can’t feel myself anymore. I have been walking for hours now and I don’t know how I lost track of time. I stop, as some sort of animal runs towards me.

My heart is racing and panic spread through my body. I turn around, as the animal takes off and I can swear that that was Jabi’s wolf.

I run over in the direction because I need to find it.

I need to make sure and maybe this is me finally losing my mind but I don’t have any other option.

I don’t know what to do.
