Chapter 101
” yeah it was eventually going to happen, one way or the other. Anyway let’s not dwell on the negative things and let me leave you to do your work, people are waiting for you outside.”
Donna reminded Ciara not to prepare anything and promise to bring all the snacks and food instead. With that Ciara bid Donna farewell as she left the practice. Now that she was no longer working and had nothing to do for the rest of the day Ciara decided to do some window shopping at some car dealerships. She was looking at big cars, she wanted a car big enough to fit both her and her newborn baby. It must be able to have enough storage for the new baby’s toys and all.
She went in and out all the shops nearby but still did not find what she wanted in the end she decided to give up and just head home, so she walked out of the car dealership and started walking towards the taxi stop so that can take a taxi back home.
As she walked on the side pedestrian lane, she notice a baby shop not far from where she was and ended up going inside to take a look instead of taking a taxi home.
What was supposed to be a window shopping turned to be a shopping spree, everything in the shop was just beyond beautiful. It’s a pity that she was only limited to gender neutral clothes and toys. But when it came to the baby’s nursery, she did not care much as she wanted to incorporate colors from both genders. Her shopping cart was so big that wasn’t going to be able to carry everything by herself, so she got the store to deliver everything to her apartment later that day.
A few minutes after she left the shop Liam also walked in and got the most expensive beige leather stroller that can also turn in to a car seat and asked the sales lady to deliver it together with Ciara’s order to the same address.
After securing the order he returned to the hotel to have some much needed relaxing time after a full day of work. He was so happy to have seen his beautiful wife and learned that both mother and child were doing well, so when he got to the hotel he offered to treat his friends to a very expensive dinner and they also had the luxury of choosing the restaurant they wanted to dine in.
They all agreed on a five star restaurant a few blocks from their hotel, so they then made their way there.
As they walked in the restaurant, they were surprised to be stopped by a young lady there, especially since they knew no one in that city.
” Mr Jones it’s good to see you again, I trust that you are settling in well in our city.”
Liam squinted his eyes in confusion, he couldn’t put the pieces together as to who the lady before him was. As clever as she was, the lady noticed this and introduced herself again.
” Owh sorry for my bad manners , my name is Yolanda, Dr Donna Smith’s friend. You came to our table last time and said that your wife is Ciara Donna’s friend.”
Only then did Liam remember the lady, but still that did not guarantee a smile from him as he only nodded his head at her.
” Owh, I see. “
” I was only here for a meeting with my client, Mr Jones if you don’t mind, I would like to invite your wife to lunch with some of the girls in our circle, Dr Smith will also be present.”
Seeing that Liam was about to leave her standing like that in front of her client Yolanda decided to shoot her to shot as if she was acquainted with the Jones’ so that she can score a few points in front of her client.
” OK, I will let her know. “
Just like that Liam returned to his table, where his friends were already seated and ready to order.
” Be careful of that woman, she doesn’t look like a nice person at all.”
Finnick had a thing of reading people’s energies and personalities, but Yolanda did not give out the right vibes which left a bad taste in Finnick’s mouth.
” Don’t worry about that, I don’t like her as well .”
After a short while, the food that they had ordered was delivered to their table. The wasted no time and started digging in.
As Donna was wrapping up her last appointment of the day, the receptionist called her to inform her that she had a visitor. After she was done with her patient, she allowed her visitor to come through.
” Hey hey girl, guess who I bumped in to, this afternoon.”
” who? Was it your ex?”
Donna laughed as she started packing up her things, getting ready to leave the office for the day.
“ew no, no. Why would you think that? I saw Mr Liam Jones and also invited his wife over. Owh my god, I can’t believe that he agreed.”
Donna was surprised at the news she just heard.
“He did?.”
” well obviously he said he’s going to talk to her, but either way I’m happy.”
” But you know that I’m friends with his wife, so why didn’t you come to me if you wanted to meet her? Who knows, you could be dinning with her as we speak.?”
“mhmmmm that would be nice, but no thanks, I also want to get close to Mr Jones.”
Donna could not believe her ears, and was shocked that her friend really said that, she actually wanted to get close to a married man.
” Owh my god Dee, not like that. You know I don’t do married men, but if I’m close to both that would boost my career. As a well established writer Ciara will help me a great deal as I am also in the same field and with Liam’s strong backing nothing will stop me from growing. “
She even patted her chest as she said, it was evident that she was proud of herself for coming us with such an idea. Donna on the other hand thought that her friend was just day dreaming. Her wishes may not even come true
Chapter 102
” Hey come with me to dinner if you don’t have anything to do. It’s going to be fun.”
Seeing that Yolanda was already there she decided to just invite her instead, hoping that she will get to know Ciara for who she really is and stop judging her based on her affordability.
” You know I’ll never say no to a treat. “
They then hurried to collect the food from a catering company which Donna had ordered from earlier. When Yolanda saw her driving the opposite direction from where Donna stayed, she started to be more curious about where they were heading.
” Hey I thought we were eating at your place, so why are you going the other direction? Who exactly are we visiting, oooh my God, is it a man?”
” Yolanda quit playing, you know know very well there is no man in my life. We are going to Ciara’s house, please behave yourself when we get there.” “We are going where? Donna why the hell would you take me to that woman’s shack, she can’t even afford to buy herself a meal and gets you to spend your money on her like this. Can’t you see that she’s taking advantage of you?”
Mad is an understatement for describing Yolanda’s mood right now. She had just humiliated and fired this woman from work a few hours ago and now she had to dine at her place.
” You know that’s not true, she has always cooked for me but now she is far along with her pregnancy that I couldn’t bring myself to let her over work herself in the kitchen when we can just get people to do that for us. She is a very nice person so behave yourself. “
” I don’t think she will be that nice after I fired her from work today. “
She said that so casually as if it wasn’t a big thing to humiliate and fire someone in front of the whole company.
” You did what? Why would you fire hire? “
” she was rude, she even assaulted her colleague so I had to set an example with her. “
Donna didn’t want to comment further she knew very well that Ciara would never just hit someone without a reason, she had to be provoked for her to retaliate. But also knowing the kind of person that Yolanda is, if she had to take sides, this conversation will never end and Yolanda will definitely be offended.
” I see, could you at least be nice for today, and if you really don’t like her, I promise not to put you two in the same space again.”
Yolanda was more than happy with the settlement, as long as she compromise for a few hours. She would never have to see Ciara again, who knows maybe she might find something to laugh about in Ciara’s house.
” fine, does she have decent chairs though? Ew what if those chairs are dirty.”
“Yolanda!”
” Fine, fine I’ll behave.”
They drove to Ciara’s security gate, the guards there were already used to Donna so they allowed her entry without any hassle.
” Aaah Dee, didn’t you say that we were going to Ciara’s shack?”
” No I said Ciara’s house, and now we are here. “
Yolanda’s mouth was wide open, amazed by the apartment complex she was in, this is the neighborhood she could only dream of living in but never really afforded it.
” Are you sure this is her house, I mean as her manager I can’t afford this place so how could she afford it with her measly salary? Has she gotten herself a sugar daddy?”
After parking in the visitor parking space, they both got out of the car and took out all the food from the boot and walked to the elevator leading to Ciara’s apartment.
” No I told you not to judge people, she has her own money and never needed the job in the first place. And for your information, she is still married to her loving husband.”
” ohw, I see.”
Only then did Yolanda start taking Donna’s warning seriously, she started to piece everything together. She thought of the possibility of Ciara being the very woman she admired the same one she had always wanted to meet.
” I see, could you at least be nice for today, and if you really don’t like her, I promise not to put you two in the same space again.”
‘ no it can’t be, it’s not her.’
She didn’t want to come to terms with reality. She had always seen Ciara as one beneath her and now things were starting to change, she too was starting to regret how she’d handled things.
They knocked on the door a few times before Ciara opened it up while was still yawning, wearing her long comfortable lounge wear, judging from the throw blanket on the couch it was evident that she had fallen asleep.
” mommy is being lazy now, I see you have been sleeping.”
” yeah I was tired from all the walking I did earlier at the shopping center , so I wanted to nap a little.”
She then noticed that Yolanda was also present in her home.
” I see you brought Ms Yolanda here with you today. “
She stated as she helped them with the food placing it in the kitchen.
” Owh yes, she was at the office earlier so I thought it would be more convenient to just come with her. I hope you don’t mind.”
” of course not, as long as Ms Yolanda doesn’t find my shack too small, I don’t mind at all.”
Ciara repeated her words which made Yolanda feel a lot more embarrassed, it’s only now that she realized how mean her words were and seeing that Ciara was richer than what she thought felt like a slap in her face.
” I’m sorry for my loose tongue Ms Williams, your home is beautiful. If it means something to you, please do come back to work, I will treat you better.”
She tried to make up for her mistakes and apologized to Ciara, it’s a pity because that came a little too late, Ciara was no longer interested in going back to work. Office work is way too demanding especially for a pregnant woman like her.
” I’m sorry I’ll have to turn you down on that, my doctor here says I need to rest more, it will be good for my baby.”
Chapter 103
Although Ciara rejected her offer, she was still nice to her. She was never the type to return bad with evil, but she knew who her friends were, and Yolanda was definitely not one of them.
When Donna is with her friends, the doctor title remains at the office as she was now working her sweat of in the kitchen plating everything they came with, some where Ciara’s current favorites and some was just normal food everyone can enjoy.
They sat down and enjoyed their Meal with Donna being the one keeping the conversation going.
At some point their meal was disturbed by a knock on the door.
” since when did you have visitors at this hour?”
Donna gave Ciara a suspicious look, as she asked her. She knew that Ciara wasn’t an out going person and apart from her and her sister Melissa Ciara wasn’t really close to anyone.
” what? I bought a few things for my baby during the day, I’m sure it’s delivery from them.”
She then pushed herself up and went to open the door. She found a delivery guy already waiting for her.
” Good evening ma’am, are you Ms C Williams?”
After confirming that she was indeed the person they were looking for, the man instructed her to sign on the document he was holding. After signing the man called out to his colleagues who then walked in holding a bunch of boxes with everything that Ciara had purchased.
Just when Ciara thought they were done with everything a lady walked pushing a high quality stroller that Ciara never bought.
” excuse me ma’am, but that is not mine I did not pay for it.”
The lady smiled at her thinking she was a very lucky woman to have some complete stranger buy her such an expensive gift.
” It’s no mistake dear, it’s in fact a gift from a young man who came in to the store right after you left. He asked that I deliver it myself.”
Only one person could be as demanding as this one, could it be that he was in town?
” what did he look like? Describe him to me. “
” uhm he is tan, tall with dark hair I didn’t really see his eyes but he saw is handsome and looks very rich. Miss you better keep him to yourself when he is still inlove with you even when you are pregnant with someone else’s child. “
The lady tried to give Ciara some advice, but what she did not know was that her piece of advice served as an insult instead of a tip to Ciara.
” OK, that will be all thank you. “
Yes she had overstayed her welcome and Ciara was now chasing her away, luckily she got the hint and left.
They then went from eating their meal to opening up the boxes which were filled with clothes and room decorations others had stuffed animal toys.
” owh my God Ciara, so many things for your child. I am so jealous right now, even I can’t buy all this stuff at once.”
” yeah, I probably over did it this time didn’t I?”
She was shocked at how many things she had purchased but still did not have the guts to return any of them to the shop. At the end of the day she kept everything including the beautiful stroller she got from a stranger.
They were now stand in front of a pile of baby clothes surrounding the boxes, even Donna was surprised at how much Ciara can shop.
” I have always known you to be stingy, but today you’ve just proved me wrong. Look at the things you bought, one would swear you have a shop inside your home.”
” you are exaggerating things, it’s not as bad as you make it sound.”
The girls both looked at each other and laughed with both hand up in the air.
” If that’s what you want to think. “
Their laugh was disturbed by yet another knock on the door, now they all looked at each other.
She wasn’t expecting anyone and the security guard did not notify her about anyone coming up to her place. So who could it be knocking at her door this late in the day.
She still went up to see who it was, that was looking for her. She opened the but remained frozen without saying a word when she saw who it was standing on her door step.
” uhm he is tan, tall with dark hair I didn’t really see his eyes but he saw is handsome and looks very rich. Miss you better keep him to yourself when he is still inlove with you even when you are pregnant with someone else’s child. “
Tears started forming in her eyes, she has been longing to see this person, be wrapped around his arms and feels the warmth of his presence for a very long time. She had always thought that when she sees him, the first thing she would do was to throw herself in his embrace and not leave him one bit, but now that he was here, standing right in front of her she was not able to do all she wanted as she was now a bundle of mixed emotions. She did not know how to act or what to do first, only the stream of tears flowing down her cheek expressed how she felt.
” He CiCi, who is there? Are you….”
That was Donna who was now concerned about her as she had been gone fore a while.
” Mr Jones nice to see you.”
When she noticed that it was Liam at the door she understood Ciara’s emotions and why she took so long, so she turned to Yolanda and signaled to her that it was now time for them to go back home.
They then excused themselves giving the couple some time to talk and get over what ever it was Tha their were going through.
Right after the was closed, Ciara dived in Liam’s arms and cried louder.
” Did you miss me sweetheart?”
” of cause what did you think?”
Liam started kissing her passionately as if making up for all the months that they did not see each other. He went in for a while, holding his wife closely and just when they were about to run out of oxygen Liam stopped the k**s.
” I missed you so so much sweetheart. I couldn’t wait any longer to meet the two of you.”
” so you already knew, huh?”
Liam then told her about the brown envelope that they previously received from the doctor with her results from all those tests they did. They spent they entire evening just cuddling, enjoying the company of each other.
Chapter 104
There was a pin drop silence in the car all the way to Donna’s house as both her and Yolanda’s mind were preoccupied by what had just transpired. Donna was really happy to see both Liam and Ciara finally reunited , she kept smiling all the way as she could imagine how happy her friend is at the moment. It was totally the opposite with Yolanda as she was angry with herself, she felt guilty for treating Ciara the way she did. She had always thought of her as her role model and idol, but now she failed to see that idol of hers when she was in front of her and instead she mistreated and abused her.
The car finally came to a stop once they were at Donna’s house, they both followed each other inside , one after the other.
” Dee I really thought you were my friend, clearly I was wrong.”
Her voice was filled with sadness and regret and Donna could clear see what she was insinuating but still probed further.
” Hey what do you mean, I am your friend, why wouldn’t I?”
Yolanda looked at Donna for a while making sure she maintains eye contact before she spoke again.
” You knew very well that she is the writer I’ve always told you about, the one I was dying to meet yet you denied me that opportunity. You know you could’ve told me who she was, and a lot of things couldve been avoided. Now I messed up the only opportunity I had to learn from Mrs Jones, art! “
She was indeed yelling at Donna as if she was the one who made her mistreat people and be prejudice against others, she had indeed brought all of that to herself. She said that last part while throwing herself on the couch nearby.
Donna also followed her and sat next to her, with her arm draped around Yolanda’s shoulders she said.
” dear it’s certainly not about if I told you or not but you should know that you have to treat people well irregardless whether their status is on purr with yours or you see them as beneath you. In this world we always need each other one way or the other hence we need to be nice to others at all time. “
This is the time when Yolanda remembered and believed Donna’s words from before..

She even remembered when Donna told her that Ciara was richer than the two of them combined, and even thought that she should have taken that as a sign of the possibility of Ciara having another identity other than a poor abandoned pregnant woman. Come to think of it, for someone who had zero experience in editing Ciara had quite a lot of knowledge and contributed alot to the company. There were a lot of clues about her identity, but she failed to see all of that.
” I still think you should’ve at least told me her identity.”
Donna shook her head with a slight smile on her face.
” even if I wanted to, it was not my place to expose her identity. She was clearly running away from something and me exposing her identity wouldve put her safety at risk and she would’ve lost all her in me.”
She paused for a second and looked at Yolanda’s eyes to see if she was still listening and following along with what she was telling, when she confirmed that Yolanda was indeed listening she then continued with what she was saying.
” Don’t let this put you down, this should be a lesson to you. Treat people equally and fairly, never judge anyone based on what they wear or how they look, remember not everyone love branded clothes like we do. Ciara is not a bad person, yes it might take her time to be comfortable around you but after that she will forgive you and possibly be friends or colleagues “.
” I don’t know really. “
Regret was eating her up, so much that she couldn’t see past the situation they were facing. Noticing this, Donna stood up and walked up to her coffee station to brew her friend a fresh cup of coffee to calm her down.
” Here drink this, maybe it will make you feel better. Let’s go home tomorrow after bidding Ciara farewell, maybe being with our family will cheer you up, plus it’s been a while since you’ve visited your parents “
This is the time when Yolanda remembered and believed Donna’s words from before..
Yolanda hesitate for a while before she gave in to Donna’s suggestion. They were set to leave the very next day.
Romance and true joy filled the air in Ciara’s apartment as they spent the entire night cuddling while catching up. Liam was filling her in with what really happened after she had left the city, how manipulative Wilson and also told her about the support she received from Annie. He then told her how much her family were eagerly waiting for her return.
” Are you sure dad also feels that way or it’s just mom and Pa?”
He shook his head, then placed a smile all over his face,
” No, I meant everyone from your family. Your father actually regrets how he’s been treating you all this while and wants to make amends with you. He wants you guys to be family again. “
For a while Ciara remained silent, she didn’t know how to digest the news she’d just received. For a long time she had been quarreling with her father, it was safe to say that they had a dog and cat relationship. Whenever they met, they would end up fight each other. So what Liam told her just now was new to her, and did not know how to react. She had always longed for her father’s love, but due to circumstances she had learned to live without it and be comfortable with just herself. Now that she was married to Liam, the man gave her everything she needed including a complete family.
Now she had to learn how to love and accept his father’s love again.
When Liam noticed that she had spaced out, he patted her so that he can bring her back to earth. With a very caring voice he proceeded to say.
” No need to be hard on yourself, if you are not ready to see them now, that’s also OK. We will do it whenever you are ready.”
His words were like a needle that poked her tear bag as her tears immediately gushed out of her eyes and flowed down her cheeks like an endless river.
Chapter 105
His words touched Ciara’s heart as she hadn’t had someone to lookout for her all this while. She was out there on her own for more than 6 months and had to make decisions by herself and sometimes put herself in situations she wasn’t comfortable in as she had no one to reassure her or stand up for her.
“OK let’s take it one day at a time. I will see them when I have the energy to deal with the bickering. “
Just like that the matter was put to rest.
In the morning Liam was the first to wake up and insisted on making breakfast for the two of them.
” No relax and take it slow, I got this. “
He felt that he wasn’t there for her throughout the past few months of her pregnancy, so now he was determined to make-up for those days. His wife was never going to lift a finger when he is around.
So after freshening up he walked out to the kitchen and began busying himself with the pots.
When Ciara was also done with cleaning herself up, she too got out of the bedroom and walked up to the kitchen only to find her husband all sweaty and with some grease on his tee-shirt.
She opened one of the drawers in her kitchen and took out an apron and gave it to her husband.
” here wear this, we don’t want you to be all greasy now, do we.”
They both smiled at each other, while Ciara helped him put it on.
” Thank you sweetheart, now the smoke here is not healthy for you, go and wait for me at the table. I’m almost done.”
He gently pushed her out of the kitchen as he said those words, leaving no room for negotiation. It was his kitchen for now and he made the rules.
Ciara obeyed and sat at the table like an obedient little girl that she was.
Soon the food was ready and Liam started bringing out the dishes, and when Ciara tried to help him, he again rejected her.
” I’ve got this covered, sit!”
What else could she do, she sat quietly waiting for Liam to finish up with what he was doing. Once done, they started eating. Ciara noticed that Liam’s cooking had improved a lot over the past few months and wondered who taught him how to cook this good.
” Were there any women throwing themselves at you? Six months is a long time without someone by your side. “

Liam looked at his wife who was pretending to be jealous and smiled.
” I doubt there were, but even if they tried they would be wasting their time as my heart only beat for you and my eyes can only see you. “
” Haaa don’t be smooth with me here, you and I both know how women behave around. It’s like they are seeing a cute man for the same time. “
Liam was baffled by his wife’s choice of words, so much so that he almost choked on the food in his mouth.
” Cute huh? Is that all you can say about your husband? “
” you know what they say about pregnant women and their brains, maybe I forgot to add something. How about beautiful?”
Liam could clearly see that she was just being playful and cheeky but still did not want to back down, he felt that there was more to him than just being cute.
” How about you say handsome, a grown man like me can never be cute. Did you not wish to add capable, resilient and a family man, I prefer that than just being cute.”
” Hehehe yes you are very capable my love, but I still think that you are cute and we need to hide you from all those hungry women out there. “
Liam’s brows we already raised to their highest point at the sound of Ciara’s voice. The woman in front of him was really testing him, he thought.
” How about we hide you instead, I don’t think it will be safe for you and baby to be out when people like Dexter and Boity are still roaming around.”
His voice was stern and serious, which all of Ciara’s playfulness and brought her back to reality. That’s when she remembered how things were before she left her home. She never really got the reason why Dexter was busy following her around and now that she was about to go back, she needed to be more vigilant for sake and that of her baby.
” mhmm I have completely forgotten about those two…. Owh my God when will I ever find peace.”
Liam laughed at her when he heard that, while picking up the dirty dishes on the table he assured her.
” No need to worry yourself about these, your husband is a capable man, I will protect you both from any sort of danger but you will also have to be careful.”
They decided not to leave Port Elizabeth right away but to spend the day exploring the city. Ciara felt that now it was time for them to find out about the baby’s gender so they scheduled an appointment with Donna and headed over to her practice.
They sat in the waiting room holding hands which were now both filled with sweat, caused by nervousness. It was Ciara’s dream come true as she had always wanted her husband to be with her when she finds out and now all of that was happening. She didn’t really care if it was a girl or a boy as she believed that babies are a gift and one couldn’t always choose what gift they will be receiving but Liam on the other was really nervous, he was really hoping to get a baby girl. He wanted someone he could protect but also did not mind having a little boy to groom.
Finally it was their turn to go in and Doctor Smith was already waiting for them when they entered the room.
“Dee.”
” lovely to see you this happy Ciara.”
She smiled at Ciara lovingly, but also sadness couldn’t be completely hidden in that face of hers. As much as she was happy for her friend, she was still sad that was going away and they might not see each other for a long time.
Ciara looked at her husband who was her source of happiness then smiled, then introduced the two people to each other.
” Thank you friend, but do not feel bad we will sure see each other one way or the other. By the way this is my husband Liam Jones, hunny this is my Doctor and good friend of mine Donna Smith.”
Both Donna and locked eyes, while Donna wasn’t sure whether to continue pretending he didn’t know Liam and were meeting for the first time, Liam pulled out his hand to give her a handshake.
” Nice to meet you again Doctor. “
