Chapter 106
Liam has never kept a secret from his wife and was not about to do that now, especially with a silly thing as admitting that he had met Donna before.
” meet you again?, what does that mean, do you guys know each other or have you met before?”
Although she was certain that Donna didn’t know Liam at all before today, but what did Liam mean by ‘nice to meet you again. ‘
” Well she was the one who helped me find you and understand everything about your health when we got here. “
He responded honestly which unknowingly scored him a few more points in Donna’s good books. Am honest man is always a keeper.
” My God, I thought someone was my real friend but she was ready to sell me out as soon as an opportunity came up huh. “
She exclaimed in exaggeration, which prompted Donna to laugh at her.
” Well it was for your well being my friend. Let’s get to the work at hand, how may I assist you today? “
Ciara then excitedly told her friend that now that her husband was here, they would like to know the s*x of the baby.
Although Donna knew the answer since long ago, and as Ciara’s friend she could just casually tell her the answer to that, but instead she chose to be as professional as she could.
” That’s great news, come this side and do another scan so that I can walk you through it.”
They all walked to the scan room where Ciara lay down on her back and lifted up her tee-shirt for Donna to spread the ultrasound gel and rub the transducer on her tummy.
” ohk so right now we are looking at the genital of the fetus, we are looking for either a hamburger sign if it’s a girl which should look like three line or two buns with a patty inside, or a turtle sign if it is a boy, This is where you can see the tip of the p***s peeking out from behind the testicles. Now look carefully and tell me what do you see? “
She then looked at them expectedly, instead of answering her question Ciara’s smile widened while looking at her husband as her tears threatened to come out.
” It’s a hamburger, does that mean that…. It’s a girl right doctor? Is it a girl? “
Liam was overjoyed, for a man who had always had control over his emotions and known to be aloof and cold, today he displayed another side of him. He was not just a billionaire ceo, who was both feared and envied by all but now he was just a man happy to be a first time dad. It was a great sight for Donna who at some point was scared to be around him as his aura would always weigh down on her. Right now it felt like he was an ordinary man.
He was so happy that he immediately gave his wife a tight hug not giving the least bit care about the gel on her belly that might stain his clothes. Luckily nothing happened.

Today was the first time Ciara got to see Liam this emotional for some reason she didn’t find this odd instead she felt their bond growing stronger than before. This was her husband and they had to share their emotions, be happy together, cry together and overcome obstacles together and right now was their special moment as they were happy together and luckily Donna got to experience their love and joyful moment together with them.
” congratulations you are going to be parents to a beautiful baby girl.”
Her voice broke the hug and the little bubble that the couple was currently in, there was no need for her to answer Liam as they had already figured the answer out but since he had asked as the doctor she had to answer.
Everyone in the room broke in to laughter when they heard what Donna just say.
” Hey no need to tell us, we know already ehehehe.”
Ciara answered mischievously. Now was the time to address the elephant in the room.
” Yah yah go on, make fun of me hehe. Since you are leaving tomorrow I’ll write down your pregnancy report and send it over to your hospital of choice where you will be giving birth.”
” now that will be very helpful, if only you could send yourself as well. I don’t don’t think I have the energy to go to another doctor again. “
She said that in passing not knowing that someone else was listening carefully and taking notes of what she was saying.
They soon wrapped up their appointment and invited Donna to come with her sister for a farewell dinner that very evening, after that they left her to continue with her patients.
Although they had agreed on exploring the city and going sight seeing, they could only do so much as Ciara was pregnant, they left Donna’s practice and entered the car Liam was driving and drove to the nearest mall and entered a maternity shop to buy her a few more comfortable clothing.
” At Donna’s office you said she was the one who helped you when you first got here, who is the we you were talking about? Are you here with other people?”
” yes Finnick and Matt are also here to help me look for you, I left them at the hotel yesterday. “
” Owh my God Liam don’t tell me you’ve abandoned them in a foreign city when they were only here to help you. We are going to the hotel now after this. “
Liam felt that his friend were old enough to take care of themselves besides he didn’t have to report his where abouts to anyone.
Since Ciara has spoken, After paying for the few dresses that they had picked up, they went to her favorite eatery and bought a few takeouts she knew the boys would appreciate as they were foodies just like her.
They then drove straight to the hotel where they found the two men lazily sitting on the couch not knowing what to do for the day. As soon as the door opened Matthew jumped up and started reprimanding Liam.
” Hey man you can’t just dissappear on us just like that, we thought something might’ve happened to you. Where were you all this time? Do you know we almost set out a team to go look for you.”
” Sister in law, nice to see you again.”
While Matthew was busy reprimanding Liam he failed to notice he wasn’t alone, it was only after Finnick spoke when he looked behind Liam that he noticed there was another person following Liam in.
He was so embarrassed that he did not know what to say next so he decided to just keep quiet.
When Ciara noticed this she smiled at them and responded.
” Hey guys, nice to see you too. I know you guys would appreciate this like I do, so we got this to share.”
She then placed all the boxes on the table and helped them dish up, but Liam quickly stopped her.
” They can do that on their own.”
Chapter 107
Now that the husband had spoken, no one could dispute that. They both showed their gratitude, Matthew got up to dish up for himself and immediately when he opened the boxes all the aroma of the spices and herbs used filled the room.
” Let me tell you Ciara if it wasn’t for you maybe we would have been dead from hunger by now. All your knows to do is to order room service with bland unflavoursome food, now this I can eat everyday .”
Matthew commented trying to curry favor her not caring one bit of what Liam might say or do to him.
” Careful now, this kind of food is not healthy for your body. If you eat too much of this you will get fat. “
Matthew did not pay her no mind anymore as he felt that his metabolism was pretty good and there was no way he would gain weight. He laid the food on the table and continued to form a buffet for everyone to just pick whatever food they felt like having. Since both Liam and Ciara had eaten not long ago, they only snacked on only a few dishes on the table.
” by the way, we will be having a farewell dinner with two of my friends that I met here, not sure if you guys would like to come over to my place and join us?”
” Are you getting this store to do the catering? If that’s the case we are sure in.”
Matthew’s question and finnick’s vigorous nod made it clear how much they enjoyed the meal, everything was made just perfect.
” Hey there will be plenty of food you will even forget about what you are having now. “
They both disagreed with the statement, but chose to just focus on their meal. Once they were done it was time for sight seeing, they visited some of the historic places and learnt a lot about the city’s history. They even went as far as checking if there was any room for business should they wish to expand their business this side.
At the end of the day Ciara was a pregnant woman and she got tired very quickly, she exited the building they were in and walked toward a beach Cafe which was situated at the beach front.
She got herself a slice of lemon cheese cake and some vanilla ice-cream while she waited for the boys to finish with their stuff.

The beautiful ocean views along with the peaceful atmosphere best described her life right now, she was reunited with her loving husband and was expecting a new addition to her small family. What more could she ask for. Everything was just how they supposed to be.
She picked up the dessert spoon on her plate and spooned out some of the cheese cake in to her mouth.
” mhmmmm”
She closed her eyes as she found herself moaning in pleasure, the smooth texture with a burst of flavours from the cake creates what she likes to call a mouthgasm.

When she heard that deep manly yet familiar
voice her eyes jolted wide open. Feeling embarrassed that she was caught in the act, her entire face turned scarlet red.
” Hey Hey cut it out, it not funny. You can’t just sneak up on people like that. “
Liam paid her no mind and instead laughed at her as he found her adorable.

His words rended Ciara speechless, and the color on her face intensified. She had no word ls for him as she found herself scooping more cake and shoving the spoon in Liam’s mouth.
” Shameless!”
As soon as the spoon entered his mouth, the cake melted instantly leaving a very nice cheesy yet sour taste in his mouth. After swallowing, he wiped the corners of his mouth and muttered.
” Not bad, but I still think you should made a wiser choice. “
Since it wasnt a sweet dessert, Liam took a second spoon and they both shared That cake and ice cream. Once done they walked back to the car where they found both the boys already waiting for them.
As soon as the car opened, Finnick spoke, it looked like he was either jealous or sad about something.
” why are you guys making it obvious that some of us are still single, why don’t you keep your romance in the bedroom where it belongs?”
Everyone in the car looked at each other and immediately laughed, no one expected that to come from him. It would’ve been understandable if it came from Matthew the silly guy in the group…
To rub it in, Liam went as far as pulling Ciara closer to him and held her tightly toward his chest. They drove back to Ciara’s apartment in awkward silence, they had to prepare for the guests and also welcome the catering company in when it is almost time for the dinner to arrive.
It was now only two hours till the time they had agreed on, but nothing was done. Although this was stressing her out, Liam did point out the fact that they were all friends and it was not like they were having a formal event, so it went without saying that her friends would understand if it happens that the event start later than expected.
They finally arrived at her housed, they parked the car at her parking spot and walked to the elevator and toward her door. She was shocked to find her door wide open and it seemed like there were a lot of people wearing black and white formal wear inside, moving up and down as if the were working on something big. She looked at Liam in confusion, she wasn’t sure what was really happening in her own apartment.
Liam held both her hands, pulled her in to an embrace and whispered in to her ear.
” I told you my wife will not be overworking herself, if you wish to host a party that’s what you will get but people will plan out everything for you.”
“But…”
As she was about to say something, she saw Melissa walking out of her apartment.
“No buts you need to relax and enjoy the night. “
Chapter 108
“Hey what are you doing here? , I thought you will be coming in later with your sister. “
Ciara was surprised to see Melissa helping out in her house, she did not expect to see her there, not at that hour.
” Dee asked me to come help out. Enough now with the questions and go have a sit, relax and watch us do magic. “
She acknowledged that, and then Liam led her to the bedroom to rest for a while. As much as she wished to take a nap, her conscious did not allow her to sleep while there were people working her house.
Soon the catering company also arrived with plenty of delicious food that they had ordered, they set up the food station and the left.
Now that everything was set, all the rest of the workers also left and only the five friends remained behind. When Ciara joined them again, she introduced Melissa to the guys.
” Hey what about me, they don’t know me as well so why don’t you introduce me? .”
Donna tried to crack a joke as she entered the apartment, but what she didn’t know is that from the time her voice was heard in the room till when she finished speaking, someone’s heart was tickled by what felt like a feather and from then on his eyes never left her as they followed her inside toward where they were all sitting. She was still dressed in her scrubs, it could be that she came straight from the hospital and not her practice as it was usually the case.
” Hey Dee, you are finally here! Come, come let me introduce you to my family.”
She went on to introduce her to both Finnick and Matthew. She introduced them as Liam’s brother as they also considered themselves brothers.
” Lovely to meet you Ms Smith, the uniform looks good on you.”
Finnick held on to her hand firmly without causing her any harm, his eyes still locked on to hers. It showed by the type of complement that he was indeed nervous, but of course Donna didn’t notice that at all as she herself felt like she was being electrocuted by Finnick’s handshake. They remained in that position for a few seconds, locking eyes, deeply immersed in the moment until someone disturbed them.

Only then did they realize the awkward position they were in. Finnick moved aside to make space for Donna to pass next to him. His movement were so natural as if he didn’t care about what had just happened second ago, which was the total opposite with Donna who behaved like a little girl who had just been caught by her parents being with a boy for the first time.
Immediately when she saw space, she ran to sit near Ciara as if she was using her as a shield or hiding place.
When she saw this, Ciara tried to lighten up the mood in the room and called them in to the dinning area for them to enjoy all the mouthwatering food they had.
“yarll we need to finish everything up, there will not be any one to eat the leftovers tomorrow.”
While others thought Ciara would be torturing them if she did end up forcing them to finish everything, Matthew was thinking they will certainly finish it and if it happens that one of them slacks behind, he would be more than happy to help them out.
They sat comfortably at the table with Donna sitting next to Finnick, Ciara next to Liam and Matthew and Melissa seated at the opposite further ends.
” Mel, you are unusually quiet today are you OK?
Donna asked her sister in attempt to avoid the person next to her, she knew very well why was she this quiet. It could be because there was another bubbly person with a strong personality aside from her so she was forced to back down or it could be that she had found herself another man to crush on within that room. The second reason was most likely to be true.
Melissa shot her sister a glare, indicating that she was still going to deal with her for exposing her in front of so many people like that. Donna giggled lightly when she saw Melissa’s reaction, but still looked at her expecting her to answer.
” I’m great, just a little sad that my little bunny will be leaving without me being able to meet her.”
” You know Ciara will still be in this country right? You can go see your bunny whenever you miss her.”
” not the same.”
She felt that once Ciara returned to her home she will be a completely different person and might not care about people like her. She did not voice that out though since it wasn’t just them girls in the room but they had a few other people in the room as well.
They all kept on eating while engaging in some light conversation, one that will include everyone in the table and not just the girls. At some point the topic go so heated that Donna didn’t realize that her plate was never empty as someone kept on adding dishes for her to eat, and so she did.
After the meal was done they shared their goodbyes and Ciara along with Liam walked them out to their car.
“Miss Smith, may I have your number so that we can know when you get home safely.”
Finnick couldn’t bring himself to part with the girl he liked without a guaranteed form of contact, so he used their safety to avoid any suspicions from Donna. His method did work as Donna started calling out her phone number to him.
” Thank you, I will call you in an hour to confirm.”
He then turned around and walk to where they had parked the car they were using while Donna also rolled up her windows and took off.
It was a bitter sweet moment for all of them, but they believed that they will see each other again and will maintain their friendship no matter the distance.
Ciara wiped her tears as she watched he friends go, it was especially sad for her as she knew that it would be a while since they can meet again.
She didn’t have much friends and whenever she does form any friendships with people, she makes sure it’s with genuine people and people that she can keep for a lifetime.
After some time had passed, Liam pulled her inside her apartment complex.
” come on you are going to catch a fever if you continue like this. You will see them in no time plus they can always visit us when they get a chance.”
” really?”
” yeah, you know I don’t lie.”
Knowing that her friends were welcomed to come and stay with them when they visit in the future cheered her up a little.
It was getting late, they needed to rest for the trip ahead of them but still had a lot to pack.
Chapter 109
The morning rays sipped in through the window waking the sleepy Ciara up, with a few flutters of eyelashes she opened her eyes only to be flashed with muscles everywhere she looked. She found her hand brushing through his ebbs slowly trying her best not to wake him up.
She then moved her eyes up to peak on the man sleeping next to her, only to find him also staring at her with big satisfaction in his eyes.
” Do you like what you see sweetheart?”
She couldn’t believe how brazen this man can be, couldn’t he just act like nothing had just happened.
She thought of acting like she didn’t understand what he was referring to and completely changed the topic.
” what do you mean? Get up already we need to start putting our things in the car.”
Instead of getting up Liam pulled her even closer and closed his eyes.
” there’s no way we are going to take a more than 15 hours drive when you are pregnant like this. Don’t you worry about your things, someone will bring those home to you later. “
To their surprise, they both fell asleep again at that very moment. They only woke up when they heard a loud continuous knock on the door. Liam lazily got off the bed wrapped himself with one of Ciara’s unisex Rob, which fitted him perfectly as Ciara had gained a little pregnancy weight in the past few months. Liam was getting more and more irritated as the knock grew louder and louder by the second.
He opened the door only to find Matthew lazily leaning against the door frame, he was smelling clean and fresh ready to hit the road.
” what’s the matter?”
” woooh please don’t tell me that you are still sleeping, have you guys changed your minds on leaving or what. The plane boarding time is in two hours what’s your plan?”
It only dawned to Liam that they had overslept, but he didn’t want to rush Ciara in to getting ready on time. They all need to be back by today to ensure their companies run smoothly. He became quiet for a while thinking for the best solution when Ciara’s inaudible voice was heard coming from the bathroom , it sounded like she was already brushing her teeth.
” We are coming, will be done in a minute.”
When Liam heard what she said, he nodded his head and opened the door for Matthew to come in and sat on the couch.
” Where’s Finnick?”
” He’s by the car, on a call with his doctor friend.”
So that was the reason why Matthew came up to the apartment to personally wake them up when he could’ve just called them, it turned out that he was just annoyed by the flirty Finnick that he wasn’t used to. He was also probably jealous that there was quite a good chance that he will be the only single one among the group.
Indeed it was a minute as she took a quick shower and was done getting ready in no time.
” You mean Dr Smith?”
” And who alse would it be if not her.”
When Matthew confirmed that it was Donna that Finnick was on a call with, Liam just nodded his head as if he didn’t care at all but deep down he was cheering up for his friend as if saying.

He too left Matthew behind to freshen up and was done in no time, they only took a few bags with their important items and made their way to the airport.
The driver dropped them off at the airport and will be following them back to their city after taking everything that they’ve left behind.
After checking in their bags they walked to the boarding gate and made their way to the aircraft that will be taking them back home.
The 2 hours trip felt like 2 minutes to Ciara who was very nervous about her return. There was still people like Lisa and Stacey whom she never explained anything to before she left to Port Elizabeth. She wasn’t sure if they’d be angry with her or be on her side. There was also Maggie whom she felt she had disappointed when she upped and left when they were facing a tough situation. She had left Maggie’s son to deal with everything on his own so Ciara was scared that Maggie might view her as a coward, someone who failed to face her problems head on and rely on her husband to help her deal with whatever problems she was facing.
Then there was her father, a man she thought despised her for not taking up the family business but chose to do her thing, now that she learned that things were not exactly how she thought they were, she had to try and work things out with him in order to maintain peace within the family.
While she was still lost in her thoughts, the final announcement was read out. They only had 10 minutes till the aircraft lands.
They landed safely, they retrieve their bags and walked out of the airport. Larry was already waiting for them in a Mercedes v class to take all of them back home.
As the car drove further and further away from the airport they started seeing burnt down buildings with smoke still coming out, showing that it was something that had happened just recently or maybe within the past 24 hours.
As the car drove deeper and deeper in to the city they noticed that most of the shopping malls and big stand alone shops were also burned. It looked like it was indeed an apocalypse.
Noticing this every person in the car tensed up wondering what had happened, none of then got the chance to view the news so they all had no idea what had happened.
Larry saw the uneasiness in everyone’s behavior as they all exchanged looks, embracing the on coming danger.
“There was a civil unrest, with people fighting for the former president’s freedom as he was arrested for fraud a few days ago, people were looting in shops and in some places it turned it turned to a racial matter as they too started killing each other.”
He then looked at Liam for a short while as he was driving.
” Non of our malls where affected but we had to close down for the safety of our employees and customers and we also increased armed security personnel in every corner of each mall and also encouraged shop owners to also put an edition security guard at their entrance just in case… Among the few malls that did survived the unrest we will be faced with panic buying from those consumers who did not loot or shop lift, we might need to limit some purchases per customer. “
So much negligence from those involved could put the country’s economy at risk and that is not a good thing for those in the business world and the aftermath could be unbearable for the poor.
Chapter 110
Now they were waiting for the president to address the nation on a way forward and ways they could strengthen the city’s economic structure.
All they had to do now was to rebuild their city, they aimed at building it to be much better than how it was before but first they needed to assess the damages caused by the unrest, especially Finnick who was a law official
The car drove toward the outer skirts of town, to the Jones family residence where Ciara can be with people who can assist should she need any help in the house, besides Maggie wanted to see her after so much time they’ve spent apart. The family was yet to find out about the pregnancy as Liam had made it a point to not tell anyone about it. Apart from Finnick and Matthew no one else knew about it, not even his sister Azzy. As they neared the community, the place more peaceful and serene so much so that one would even think that they were in a completely different city, as there was a huge difference between the burned down buildings as if there was a full on war or an invasion by another country, in contrast to this peaceful community they were in.
Soon the car pulled in the driveway and as it was about to park they saw Azlea coming out from the car running fast towards the car, screaming in happiness. She was delighted to see her sister in law after so much time had past. She stopped in front of the sliding door to open it.
” Owh my God you are finally here, do you know how much we’ve missed you. We even thought you were avoiding us really.”
Ciara felt sad that the little girl thought that she was avoiding her. If it was up to her she would probably be in the Jones family residence every single day, that’s how much she adored them. But also thought of the possibility of Azzy growing some sort of attachment toward her because of guilt, as ever since Ciara’s abduction she had been calling her frequently checking up on her and would from time to time pop up at her house. So when she lost all forms of communication with Ciara she was frustrated and sad, the fact that she did not know anything about her well-being drove her crazy and went as far as thinking that Ciara was pushing her away. Although she knew the reason why she left in the first place and respected her decision, she still craved for at least hearing her voice through a phone call.
” Oh No Sweety, that’s definitely not true. I will never avoid you guys not when I’m still alive.”
While flashing Azzy her beautiful smile she got down from the car and her baby bump was revealed. This got Azlea going crazy, she couldn’t believe that there was going to be a new addition to the family, and she was now going to be an aunt at such a young age.
” woooo is that real? Do you really have a baby inside your uterus?”
Everyone laughed at her childish questions, ‘ of course it’s real, why would someone sane dress up to pretend that they’re pregnant’ they thought to themselves.
Instead of answering her questions Ciara decided to shoot one of her own.
” would you like to touch it and feel if it’s fake or real?”
Azlea was rather elated when she heard that question, she didn’t even need to answer as her hand was already over Ciara’s belly caressing it. Not even a second had pass since she started caressing Ciara’s belly, and the baby started moving which caused her to be even more happy.
With exaggerated expressions on her face, she looked at everyone in a boasting manner.
” See! baby can feel my presence, she started dancing the moment I rubbed her her head.”
Everyone laughed at her silly comment, wondering how did know if what caressed a head when all she saw was Ciara’s protruding tummy covered by her maternity dress and nothing else.
All the noise and chaos caused by the people that had just arrived was heard by the Jones elders and this prompted Maggie to go outside to see what was happening while George remained in the living room watching the news and all he heard after his wife left him alone was her loud voice shouting for him.
” Oh my Goodness, George! George! The heavens have heard our prayers come out and see.”
She then went on to reprimand her son for not telling them sooner.
” Naughty boy, how selfish can you be. Why didn’t you inform us about our grandchild, don’t you think we deserve to know? Don’t you think that now that you are all grown up and have your own family I won’t smack you in to line.”
She was trying to put her son in line but she was too happy to even act like she angry.
” Relax mah, aren’t we here now , is there a difference? “
By the time he was done talking Maggie was no longer bothered by him or what he was saying but all her focus was now directed at Ciara, as she started asking how she was feeling and insisting that she needed to sit and not stand for too long as that will tire her easily. She even started pulling her in the house and ordered to sit on the day bed couch in the living room.
” congratulations son, daughter in law. So tell us when did this happen?”
It might seemed like an innocent question, an elder wanting to know how far along his daughter inlaw was with her pregnancy. That’s exactly what everyone including Ciara thought when they heard the question, but there was indeed a hidden meaning in that question itself. Only those with a quick mind will be able to catch up on it, obviously a good lawyer like Matthew, the head of the police department with many years of experience and a business mogul were definitely able to see what George was trying to imply. Right after his question, he could see Liam’s eyes darkened but quickly returned to its normal state then he responded in his normal voice.
” We both found out before she left, but I couldn’t share the news with you as I wasn’t sure of both their health and safety.”
His answers erased any doubts that George could’ve had as it shown that there wasn’t any infidelity that had occurred between the two.
