Chapter 116
The lights in the house were then turned on, then Hillary’s voice was heard coming through the intercom.
” Hello?”
” Aunty it’s me Boity.”
Immediately when Hillary recognized Boity’s voice she opened the gate and allowed her entry.
” Now what are you standing there for, come on inside.”.
With a smile on her face Boity picked her bag up and started walking in the manor. She just couldn’t believe how she had elevated her life in just a few minutes, moving in to the Williams’ household was definitely an upgrade for her. It was an upgrade that came with losing the only man that she loved or better yet, the only thing she had managed to successfully snatch away from Ciara since they were young and was definitely going to fight for when the time is right. She quickened her pace as the front door opened which distracted her from her thoughts.
” Sorry Aunty for coming this late , I stopped at my friend’s place and I totally lost track of time.”
Hillary shook her head in a disapproving manner , showing that she did not agree with the youth’s way of doing things .
” You are a girl so you need to be extra careful , anything can happen to you while you are out there at night.”
She even reprimanded her sternly hoping that she gets the point across.
Boity tried her best to hide the irritation and annoyance she felt from just listening to Hillary’s nagging.
” Don’t worry aunty I’m a big girl now, I can take care of myself. Anyway, I’m here to visit you guys for a few days, I hope that you don’t mind.”
” No , not all all. You are family after all, besides this house is too big for just the three of us, we could use a visitor or two.”
” owh that’s nice of you, I’ll show myself to Ciara’s room then.”
She said with a huge fake smile on her face, but when she was about to turn around and leave the room, Hillary stopped her.
” No need for that, you can use the guest bedroom that will be more suitable for you. As you’ve said it is Ciara’s room so she needs to find it intact with no one in it when she comes back home.”
” I see. I’ll use the guest room then.”
She then rolled her eyes and started walking up the stairs to the direction of the bedrooms. As she climed up the stairs she noticed that the old man Williams was standing just outside his study room looking down where they were and there was a big possibility that he would’ve seen all her hidden annoyance and micro reactions to what Hillary was telling her .
She continued to walk up and since the man had already seen her, it would be rude of her to just carry on with her way without acknowledging the older can. So she greeted him while bowing slightly in respect.
” Grandfather ,good evening.”
The old man can hated fake people and could smell one at a distance, so he didn’t hide his disgust in front of her as he immediately turned around and walked back inside his study room and shut the for behind him.
Boity was left there feeling embarrassed, she picked herself up and continued her way.
When Ciara woke up the next day, the first thing she did was to go to the bathroom to clean herself for the day ahead. When she was finally done she walked out of the bathroom, still stressing about what she was about to wear she tripped over something but did not fall when she looked to see what it was that almost injured her and her child , she noticed it was a shopping bag, the very same bag that Liam came in with the previous night. She had totally forgotten about, it was only then that she remembered that her lovely, thoughtful husband had arranged for a few clothing items for her to wear while they were still waiting for the delivery of her clothes from Port Elizerbeth.
She then took out all the clothes in that bag and laid them all on the bed, after scanning through everything she picked out a very beautiful green flared dress. It was off the shoulder and covered all her legs as it was ankle long. She then took out her black slides from her closet, wore some perfume then walked downstairs to look for her husband who was already up and ready to start his day when she walked in.
” Good morning Darling.”
Liam’s smile widened as he watched his beautiful wife walk elegantly down the stairs towards him.
” If you look this good ,then we will definitely have to lock you in the house and only be seen and admired by your husband only. What do you think?”
” He he he, as long as you lock us both inside, I too don’t want any woman to drool over my handsome husband. Let him stay in the house with me for the rest of his life.”
Liam too was exactly how Ciara described him and more, he looked crisp and elegant in his black fit suit with his white shirt that had the first three buttons undone. It was giving sexy and wild but also his aura made him look a tad bit serious.
Today they were going to have their breakfast out, but first, what was important was their doctor’s appointment they had made.
Larry was as effecient as always as he was able to find them the best doctor in town ,in just a few hours after Liam had instructed him to do so, he was able to get the doctor to squeeze them in although his schedule was packed for that day.
Liam then led Ciara to the car , where Larry was already waiting for them and had also opened the door so they can enter without hustle.
” Hello Larry. “
” Hello Mrs”
He greeted back with a polite smile, as he then returned to his driver’s seat while the couple got in the car. They then drove out and headed on their way to the doctor’s office, that was when Ciara noticed that it had been very quiet for a while now in the car, so she decided to break the silence.
” Larry , you know I have never seen you with a woman beside you. Are you single? “
Larry got so awkward and and embarrassed that he didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t find any words to reply to Ciara’s question, anyway what would he say , that her husband was keeping him very busy that he didn’t have the time to find himself a woman?
His tight grip on the stiring wheel and the blush on his face told Ciara everything she needed to know about his relationship status.
” you know ,you are not getting any younger, you need to settle down and start a family while you still can otherwise you will die a lonely man.”
‘ Owh God now I’m an old man, is that what she is implying?’
Of cause he didn’t say this out loud , instead he looked at Liam for help. Ciara was his wife so it would be best of Liam gave the answers. But instead of helping him out Liam just shrugged his shoulders as if removing himself from the whole conversation and it was like telling him that ,’ you are on your own buddy.’
” Right now I don’t have the time to waste on dating, my work comes first. If the right woman comes at the right time, I will surely take them as my wife. But for now I’m too busy to play around.”
His answer was firm, but it also revealed something, although he was busy with work he still did want a family of his own and have a wife to keep him company than to spend the rest of his life lonely while making lots of money with no purpose.
Chapter 117
” Nonsense, you can never be too busy for love, you know what? I have a very good friend who is also single maybe you guys should meet, who knows maybe you might just get married.”
It was true, no matter how busy one can be , but there will always be time for love and romance. So knowing the kind of person Larry was ,Ciara decided to be the one to play hero in his love life.
In no time the car pulled up in the hospital’s parking lot and Larry led the couple to the gynae and obstetrician floor where the doctor’s office was located.
When they got there, the doctor quickly wrapped up his session with the patient he was attending to, and soon after that both Ciara and Liam where called in.
As soon as they walked in Liam noticed that their attending doctor was male and that dissapointend him a lot but didn’t say anything as they were already there and also considering the fact that the doctor had already made so much sacrifices in order to accommodate them.
Immediately when the couple sat down the doctor pulled out a file with Ciara’s medical records that he had already printed out from his email.
” Mr and Mrs Jones, I trust that you both are doing well. I have received your medical records from your previous doctor, Dr Smith. Everything seems to be going well. We will not be doing another scan as you have already done two in the past few days.”
They then again went through the records again and the doctor gave them an opportunity to ask questions if they had any.
” uh Doctor is it safe for us to have s*x at this time of the pregnancy?”
Liam asked shamelessly with no embarrassment what so ever, maybe if it was a female doctor he would’ve felt awkward to ask that Question, but now it was of cause different. He needed to declare his presence as Ciara’s husband.
” Yeah absolutely! Her pregnancy is Normal and healthy and I don’t see any complications that can possibly arise. So that means that you can have fun right up until the day of your delivery. But remember, now that you are deep in to your pregnancy, third trimester to be precise, you will have to take good care of yourself.”
With that now out of the way , they both thanked the doctor and then left the practice.
As they got in the car, Larry informed Liam that there was something urgent that needed his attention back at the office. Instead of going out to have their breakfast now they had to go to the office, and so they did.
By the time they reached Liam’s office, Larry’s junior had already organized a table full of all breakfast delicacies you can think of.
When she saw this, Ciara sighed in relief, at least they were not going to die of hunger. She urged Liam to grab a bite first before he attends whatever it was that needed his attention, but Liam only took a muffin and a sip of orange juice and left right after giving Ciara a k**s on her forehead. Yep that was exactly how urgent the matter was, and being a business minded person that he was hunger could never stop him from doing his work.
Once Liam had left, Ciara started digging in to her meal without the worry of being seen by others stuffing herself like that. Once she was done she put some for her husband aside, she then moved to the break room to rest a little, she was too stuffed to even think so she decided to close her eyes for a few minutes.
She was soon woken up by the sound of her phone ringing, which she lazily grabbed and answered.
” Hello.”
” Owh my God CiCi, are you sleeping, hurry up and open for us we’re at the gate waiting for you. You said we must come remember?”
Ciara immediately checked the time and noticed that she had slept for over two hours now, and it was only then that she remembered that she had invited both Lisa and Stacey over to her house.
” Crap, uhm , friend don’t be mad at me okay, I’ll be there in a few minutes don’t leave please.”
” Huh? What do you mean?, you are not even here, Ciara Williams tell us where did you sleepover last night. You are still a married woman you know that.”
” Don’t be silly , where else can I go with this big belly of mine. I’m coming now.”
She then ended the call and walked out of the break room, only to find Liam very focused on the paperwork he was reading through. The office had been cleared of all the food and it no longer smelled like a restaurant but a place of work.
” You are finally awake, I almost thought you might have died in your sleep since you’ve been out for so long.”
Only then that Liam moved his eyes to look at Ciara.
” No way, why don’t they come some other time. Today you are spending time with me.”
The man was being clingy like a little baby when their parent is about to leave the house. He hadn’t spent enough time with his wife in the past few months so he wanted her all to himself, sadly though that was not possible.
” Hey that will be impolite of me to do, I’m the one who invited them remember? Plush they’re already at the house. If you want to spend time with me , you too can come along. “
And just like that Liam lost to Ciara, he was not about so sit in a house full of women and listen to them gossip and talk about all the women stuff.
” No ma’am, I’ll rather spend my time with this paperwork than to listen to you women talk the whole time.”
Even though he said that, Liam still drove Ciara back home. They eventually arrived at the villa after the many stops they made along the way to buy the snacks Ciara was craving to eat when she get home.
” I still can’t believe how on earthquake do you still look this hot when you always eating all the time.”
Ciara was not offended by her husband’s comment as she still stuffed the grapes she was holding in her mother, and responded while still focused on eating.
” It’s the genes darling, the secret is in my good genes. Have you seen how hot my mom is?”
That response shut Liam’s mouth completely as he found no lies in that, Mrs Williams was indeed a pretty woman who took good care of herself. Even with her age you would swear she was a couple of years younger than what she was.
When they got to the gate they found Lisa’s car already parked there, the two girls in the car looked like they’ve been sitting there for quite a while now and were starting to get bored.\
Chapter 118
The security personnel opened the gate and they all went in, Liam left the villa immediately after dropping off Ciara .
The two girls followed Ciara in the House, while they still seem to be exhausted that did not stop them from scolding her.
” Don’t you dare think that just because you are pregnant we will go easy on you. Did you really have to keep us waiting for that long? I mean we almost died at your gate just waiting for you.”
” Arhg sorry friend, I had to get what baby wanted, you know how demanding they can get. Anyway how have you guys been keeping all this time, owh my god you have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
She tried to divert the conversation to something neutral and let them focus on something else than her being late.
Although they understood what she was trying to do they still let it slide, who would want to fight a pregnant woman who’s about to pop at any moment anyway.
” Girl we see you and what you are trying to do , any ways where is your booze , I need something to boost my mood”
Lisa asked that question while already opening the wine cooler and took out a bottle of white wine and two glasses , that was one for herself and the other for Stacey.
Seeing that Lisa wasn’t answering the question at hand, Stacey was left with no choice but to start talking.
” Well we are still alive aren’t we? You know ever since your contract with the company was never renewed and the management couldn’t get hold of you after your final submission, there had been rumors about the company sinking. People were talking about the company doing huge staff cleanout. I guess we too might be within those that will be laid off”.
Ciara was saddened by these news, although she did not want to renew her contract with the publishing company, she still didn’t want her friends to suffer. Now she was caught in a dilemma, she didn’t know if she should renew the contract and suffer her colleague’s pretentiousness or let her friends figure things out on their own.
” Did management say anything about this or is it only just a rumor?”
Lisa gulped down the wine in her glass before she was able to answer Ciara.
” Well there was no need for them to say anything as they sometimes wouldn’t pay up our salaries, that on It’s own is proof enough that the company is struggling. Although they were able to pay you your royalties, they were not able to handle the company’s funds properly and now the company is struggling to stay afloat.”
It was indeed disheartening to hear everything that had been happening while she was away, and was happy that she didn’t sign the new contract after the previous one had expired. Now she wondered how both Lisa and Stacey were able to survive and take care of themselves when they didn’t receive any salary at times.
Noticing how stressed she looked Stacey passed Ciara a tub of grapes that she had forgotten about and munch on them instead of the nails she was busy chewing.
“Don’t stress about us, we are big girls now. We will work hard and find another studio to work with and it might even be better than the one we are currently working for.”
Ciara took the tub and stuffed some of the grapes in her mouth ,she remained silent for a while , while she chewed on her grapes.
” It’s not that I’m stressed about the situation but saddened that you guys have to go through what you are going through because of selfish management who failed at managing the company well. What’s even sadder is the fact that I can’t help with anything as I am about to give birth.”
The room remained silent for a while, Lisa and Stacey quietly drank their wine, while Ciara ate her grapes peacefully without a word more.
They were hoping that Ciara might be able to help them in a way, they knew very well that there was a high possibility that Ciara wasn’t going to return to their company but thought that she was already signed with another company.
So Ciara being signed under another publishing company would make it easier for them to get a job in that company as Ciara would have spoken to Hr for them.
What they didn’t know was that Ciara was a free agent and wasn’t working for anyone.
After some time of silence, Stacey continued with the conversation and asked.
“So what are your plans now that you’re back, have you found a better company?”
this question put a smile on her face as she started brushing her big tummy and answered.
” My only concern for now is to give birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl, business will follow
After that.. I was also thinking about opening my own studio but take a different route now, instead of writing romantic novel and screen plays, I want to write a children’s book and focus on cartoons. Maybe you guys can also join me in this venture, What do you guys think?”
The two had always been there for her through it all, they were there when Dexter humiliated her, they were also there during the Laura’s saga, when she got married ,it was without a doubt that they would come through for her without asking questions.
” Shoot, as long as you believe that it will work, we are in. I’m pretty sure it will be less stressful than what’s happening at work.”
Right then it was as if it was the good old days where they used to come together, and gossip over some perfectly chilled white wine, the only difference now was that Ciara couldn’t have any. So her glass was filled with mango juice.
They sat and chatted for a while the now drunk Lisa was sharing all the juicy stories about office politics and releasing files on the people who used to mistreat Ciara back then. Apparently right after she left town, a middle aged woman once came to the office and was shouting and cursing at one of the ladies there for sleeping with her husband. So basically the same person who was accusing Ciara of being a sugar baby was in fact living that life herself, worse with a married man. Their conversation went on and on and they didn’t realize that it was now starting to get dark outside, it was only when Liam came back from work that they started checking their watches for the time.
It was as if he knew that he would find the two friends still at his house when he came back, probably that’s why he brought lots of food back with him.
When Lisa and Stacey saw him, they immediately stood up, as they were feeling embarrassed that he still found them there after so much time.
” Hey Liam, was nice….”
Just when they were saying their goodbyes and was about to leave the room, two men followed Liam in, and that is what stopped Stacey from finishing her sentence.
Chapter 119
“Woooo, what do you mean you guys are leaving already, I mean we just got here and look at all the food that we’ve brought for you guys.”
Matthew was the one to speak, yes as they’ve been having a thing with Stacey, she happened to blushed immediately after she heard him mention the fact that the food was brought especially for them.
When Lisa noticed she was the one to speaks first.
” Well we thought we would be giving Mr Jones and Ciara here a chance to be alone and enjoy the presence of the other, but now since you are all here , we don’t mind staying over.”
She didn’t even care whether she was drunk or not , what mattered to her was for her friends to have a chance at love.
” Is that so?”
Matthew asked while staring at Stacey to see what she had in mind. Right then Stacey had no choice but to agree with whatever Lisa said, because in front of this man she could never think straight. Hence she nodded her head vigorously, before saying,
” Yeah, sure that’s absolutely true. We can stay.”
At this moment her whole heart was pounding so hard that it was about to break through her chest and come out.
They ended up turning around and made their way to the kitchen where Ciara later joined them as they reheated all the barbaque that Liam had brought. They then set up the table and then placed all the dishes of barbeque on it.
They were having a feast of barbeque steak, sausage, ribs with corn ,salsa and some garlic bread.
While they had their meal peacefully in the villa ,Boity on the other side was busy bad mouthing Ciara to her parents.
They too were having dinner at this time over some light conversation.
” So Boity, now that you are back what do you plan to do with your life?”
Mrs Williams asked seriously, as she was against useless women who did nothing in life, who all they knew was to spend money given to them by men. She strongly believed in hard working women and independence. And Boity knew all of this.
” well I will be applying for more work this side or maybe I can just come and help at the family’s company again. I don’t want to be as useless as Ciara and not do my part at building the family’s wealth.”
The moment she finished those words everyone at the table looked at her weirdly, and she couldn’t understand why because they were the ones who had disowned their own daughter so it shouldn’t be a problem when she talks badly about her , ‘right?’
” Anyway do you have anything for me to help with, maybe I can find better business to invest in and not those bad movies Ciara wrote. Plus the construction side of business isn’t growing as fast as it should.”
Now things were about to get real , she had touched the sore spot a couple of times now and people were getting tired of it. Old man Williams the straight talker who never liked this granddaughter of his was the one to speak.
” Hold it right there, don’t you dare put my granddaughter’s name in your Mouth when you don’t have anything nice to say. Ciara has achieved a lot in her life and is doing well, yes she chose not to work in the family business but that still doesn’t give you the right to speak ill of her. so behave yourself.”
Boity was irritated by her annoying grandfather’s comment. So she looked at the only person in the room she knew well that did not have a soft spot for Ciara.
” But it’s the truth, uncle you too know that.”
Mr Williams looked back at her, and shook his head.
” That’s where you are wrong my child, although Ciara chose her own path that doesn’t mean that she is useless. I am the one who wronged her and should be the one to apologize. Ciara respected us no matter how awful we treated her and still continued to build her brand on her own. She managed to be where she is today by herself, without the help of a man or of her family and for that I’m proud of her.”
As she listened to the people who used to hate hearing anything that involved Ciara’s name, sing praises of her ,Boity felt her body cringing. She bawled her hands in to fists under the table and grinded her teeth in anger. As the family focused on the food in front of them no one except old man Williams who had been observing her all along noticed all of her actions and shook his head.
” Now if you want peace with the family, you will have to stop that attitude and treat her as your sister, as you will be seeing more of her these coming days .”
Boity tried hard to force a smile on her face but because of her unstable mood, it came out awkward and fake so everyone saw it.
” Of cause grandfather, she is my cousin and I will treat her fairly.”
“Good”.
Judging from her character and how she had just behaved not so long ago, they knew that she wasn’t being genuine with her answer, but still let it slide.
‘ what’s the worse thing that she could do, she’ll never hurt our Ciara and she knows it.”
Well that was what the family thought, but was it really true? .
Boity had already hurt Ciara numerous times before so what would stop her now. Their presence perhaps? No one truly knew.
The following day Ciara asked her friends to accompany her to the mall as she needed to buy a few things for her hospital bag, her days to delivery were getting closer and closer .
They visited a couple of maternity shops and a few mother and baby’s essentials and once they were done they decided on getting something light to eat on one of the restaurants in the food court. They ordered a few items then sat down to eat, but before the food arrived Ciara excused herself to the bathroom. Her bathroom runs were now more frequent as she was at the later stage of her pregnancy.
She walked in the bathroom and did her business once she was done she washed her hands and exited the bath room but as soon as she stepped out a huge hand grabbed on to hers and pulled her to the side.
Chapter 120
she let out a scream in shock but soon calmed down when she noticed who it was. Although she had calmed down a little, her anger did not subside one bit. She couldn’t understand why the man would show up in that restaurant especially when it wasn’t the type of place he would normally frequent and what made it worse was him being there exactly at the same time she was .
” Do you really like following me around Dexter? Why , don’t you have anything important to do than this?”
Without letting go of her hand, Dexter looked down in disappointment. He then shook his head while replying to Ciara with a low voice, which displayed no confidence at all in it.
” Can’t you see Ciara that I love you, yes I was stupid and wronged you back that. But can’t you give me another chance and I will surely make it up to you, please.”
Dexter begged, but his begging angered Ciara even more. This was the same man who used to say he wanted nothing to do with her, he left her for her very own cousin. How could she forgive a man Like that, not to mention that he left her just a few day before they were supposed to get married with just a text message and no explanation.
” No it’s too late for that now, you’re the one that left not me. You are the one who got cold feet and ran without a care of how I felt and how I’d cope , you didn’t care at all about me so why would you now. What changed?”
” well I’ve realized how stupid I was to neglect you like that, I love you Ciara Williams, I always have and always will do. I was young back then and didn’t think things through, I’m sorry. Can you just give me a chance to prove my self, I’m not saying love me the same way you did before but please learn to love me and we’ll grow together.”
” Sorry to disappoint you Dexter but you’re asking for the impossible. I’m happy with my life right now and wouldn’t change it for anything. I love my husband and he would never do me like you did as he values me more than anything.”
She then yanked her arm off and spun her heels and left. As she was walking away she heard an angry voice behind.
” He values you ,you say?. Let’s see if he continues to do so even when you bring him nothing but problem.”
Hearing that, Ciara stopped for a second but then again remembered that there was nothing Dexter can do to separate them, and so she walked away.
She then got to her friends now in a sour mood,
” finally! It’s about time you came back, we almost called security on you.”
Not even entertaining her friend’s comment which was meant to be a joke , she seriously said,
” uuhh , can you guys get them to pack these up. I really can not stay here any longer.”
” why? What happened?”
As soon as Lisa asked that question Stacey pulled her hand to get her to shut up and luckily Lisa got the hint and did shut her mouth up.
After their dishes were put in take away containers , all three ladies left without wasting any time.
The driver was already waiting for them outside at the mall’s parking lot.
He greeted them courteously before opening the door for them to enter the vehicle. The car then drove straight to Ciara’s seaside villa , as the car pulled over ,Ciara noticed the black Mercedes s classed parked closer to the entrance food of their Villa and she started sweating.
” Owh my god he is here already. “
She commented while placing her slim slender hand over her face. As soon as the cara stopped Ciara got off but the two could read through the lines and did not want to be part of the storm that about to come. So they asked the driver to drive them back to their apartment.
Ciara slowly walked in to the house and found Liam sitting comfortably on one of the couches near the entry hallway, with his one leg crossed over the other and a laptop in front of him.
He was typing furiously on the keypad and seemed to be engrossed in whatever it was that he was typing .
Now that Liam was sitting right there in front of her ,she had no where to hide and was left with no choice but to show herself.
” Honey, you are home.”
She looked at him with a sparkle on her face and a huge smile that left Liam defeated as he sighed then closed his laptop. He then looked up at her again
” Your food is in the microwave oven, heat it up and eat.”
Not wanting to cause more trouble for herself, she quickly ran to the kitchen and did as told.
As the the food was heating up the whole room was filled the aromas which to her stomach growling in hunger, that’s when she remembered that she didn’t get a chance to eat at the restaurant and was now starving.
She took her food and returned where Liam was and sat on a couch opposite him.
When she started eating she noticed that the food was exactly what she had ordered earlier at the restaurant but how Liam could’ve known.
Noticing the confusion written all over Ciara’s face Liam spoke in a serious manner.
“Did we not agree that you will extra careful about your safety and not leave the villa for the time being?”
He looked at her directly as he waited for Ciara’s answer.
Ciara on the other hand felt like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar and couldn’t explain herself and all she could was to nod her head.
” So what were you doing at the mall without any bodyguards with you ? Why didn’t you ask me to accompany you if you didn’t want strangers with you?.”
He was so angry but still managed to speak in a leveled voice with his wife as he would never shout at her bit at the same time he needed to display the seriousness of the matter and reprimand her for her negligence.
” Well I was bored being here alone so I asked the girls to come along with me. Nothing really happened to me, so don’t get angry okay.”
Liam shook his head and chuckled mockingly as he continued to look at his naive wife.
” Nothing happened you say? Tell me ,Where they with you when Dexter showed up and roughly pulled you to the side huh? Did they even see him at all, and what if he caught you outside the restaurant , do you think he would’ve let go of you that easily? Or we would be singing a different song by now.”
She truly understood what he meant and knew very well that he was write but that was not the point right then.
” Hey hey , how did you know that we were at the mall and what happened there, no one was there. Liam Jones are you following me?”
