Ch. 41..45: The Wife I Never Met chapter 41-45

Chapter 41

Ciara finally finished with what she was doing, and chilled for a while. She then received a call from an unregistered number, she was quite hesitant to take the call. She wasn’t sure who it was from, could it be the Journalists or paparazzi who wants to confirm her identity or is it the crazy netizens who were cursing her the previous day.

Though she was still hesitant about taking the call, she was curious to know who the person was and ended up answering her phone.

“Hello.”

“CiCi my child it’s your uncle, Annie’s dad… You know we have never spent time together, how about we meet at a restaurant of your choice around lunch time. OK?.”

Ciara was surprised and shocked at the same time, although they were related she has never had lunch and was not familiar with her supposed uncle. Yes they have met during family gatherings and the man was always polite and never treated her badly but she just wasn’t close to him and felt that distant. She only knew his daughter only because grandma used to bring the both of them when going out to play and also for martial arts training. Other than Annie, she treated that family like everyone else in the city. Respected him as a mayor.

Since she didn’t have anything to do on that they, she decided to accept the invite, so she chose a restaurant where they’ll be meeting at and set the exact time for their meeting and just like that the lunch date was set.

She then prepared herself to meet up with her uncle.

Mr Wilson walked in to the hotel that Ciara had chosen not long after she had arrived. Him and his men were immediately ushered to the private room that was booked for them, along the way he kept nodding unnoticeably in satisfaction. He was actually impressed by the venue, he had thought that since Ciara was no longer under the protection of the Williams, she was probably broke and could not afford places like these and therefore never visited such a restaurant. He thought they would probably go to a shady restaurant, which was why he had brought so many men with him for protection.

“Mayor Wilson, hello.”

That was Ciara, greeting her uncle like they weren’t family but just a civilian.

” silly I’m your uncle, why would you address me so formally huh? Call me uncle which is how you as my niece should address me.” he said that with a stiff smile. Although he looked friendly but Ciara could tell judging by the fake smile he just gave her and how uncomfortable he looked, that there was more to this lunch invite than what meets the eye. Ciara was a patient person so she was willing to play along and see what this uncle was going to say or do.

But even so she didn’t know how to respond hence she let out an awkward smile.

“It was good seeing you at the party that night, you looked happy. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to talk to you. Now tell me how are things with your family?” it was kind of weird that Mike Wilson would ask her anything regarding her family when he has never shown any concern for her before, so why would he now?.

” well nothing has changed, why do you ask?”

He smiled feeling what he was about to say would be easy as she lacked a family relationship, maybe if he offered her the kind of Love one could only get from family, just maybe, she would agree to his request and if not he would have to force her to.

” I see, since your Williams family has disowned you, now you only have us the Wilson’s to count on. As your uncle it is my responsibility to take care of you, so I will take you in as my second daughter and you can move in to our home. But Ciara you will have to stop hurting your sister, Annie is a gentle soul and wouldn’t say anything even if she’s hurt. “

Ciara laughed hard in her heart, she felt that everything he just said was nothing but a joke. If he really cared about her and her well-being he would try his best as an elder to mediate the situation between her and Har dad, and not just take her in and let the problem be. Secondly his last statement shows that he didn’t care at all but trying to achieve something by using her for his daughter’s sake.

Although she was laughing hard inside, she still kept a straight face, she wants to know how she had hurt Annie whom they were perfectly fine with not so long ago and they even exchanged contact numbers.

“How did I hurt her, she was perfectly fine last night at the party so what’s wrong with her now.?”

“I did tell you that she never voices out her displeasure, but you did break her hurt, she is supposed to be with Liam and that was also decided by the two families. She really like the boy but you took that away from her, but I can overlook it, that is only if you promise to stay away from that boy. He is not yours to keep. Break things off with him. “

‘Not mine to keep huh, we’ll see about that.’ Ciara thought to herself.

” what makes you think that I will do that? ” she then looked intently in his eyes not wanting to miss any reaction from her uncle.

Chapter 42

Her words made this old man’s face super ugly, his true colors were now showing and that was not good at all. If she’s not willing to give up on Liam, then he would be left with no choice but to force her to leave. Liam had to marry his daughter and he could do anything to bring them together since he had Maggie on his side.

This marriage was more important to him than it was supposed to be to his daughter. To him love didn’t really matter, but what mattered the most was status and wealth. It was important for him to join power with the Jones’ as it will strengthen his career and would make his family name even more powerful. So he wasn’t about to let a little girl take that away from him. But because he couldn’t say that out loud, he used his daughter’s name and made it seem like he was doing everything for her.

“what do you mean by that?, I’m telling you Ciara, you’re going to break up with that man like it or not.”

Although Ciara didn’t want people knowing about her relationship with Liam, but now since some people found out about it, she was willing to protect it by all means.

” well I’m not promising anything, why don’t you tell Liam to do that instead or let your daughter fight for her man if she is even interested in him.”

“I’m giving you 2 days, think about it. If not I’ll make your life a living hell, and don’t think Liam will protect you. To him you are nothing but a temporary infatuation, just a passing girlfriend. He will dump you in no time I tell you. So 2 days is all I’m giving.” he then stood up and angrily left the room without touching his food and also didn’t pay the bill. He thought by doing so he would be punishing Ciara, he was so sure she wouldn’t afford to pay up…

On the other side Maggie who had never been to the Jones headquarters ever since Liam took over the company, was there today. She was there to see her son, but mainly to get answers. She wanted to know who the screen writer girl was and what kind of relationship did she have with her son.

” I understand that you don’t like me poking my nose in to your business, but son tell me who is that woman. You need to tell me the truth, coz I can’t be running around looking for a mate for you when you already have a girlfriend.” although she knew the possible answer but she still wished that it could Annie, she may be having problems but at least she was the mayor’s daughter and trusted them. She still didn’t want to believe the negative thoughts she had about Annie previously. She still hoped that the girl can be a member of the family and be Liam’s wife.

Liam on the other hand was in deep thoughts, he respected his wife and had kept his promise in keeping their relationship a secret and was not sure how Ciara would feel if he told his mom the truth. But since rumors about them are going around, he felt that it’ll be wise to just come clean now before it’s too late. Telling his mom now was also for Ciara’s good, otherwise his mom would find reasons for hating her and blame her for everything instead. Which mom wouldn’t want to know when their child is getting married.

” what would you say if I tell you that she is the woman I desire and the only woman I love.”

Maggie looked confused, she never in her wildest dreams thought that she would ever hear her eldest son use the word “love “. She didn’t think that their relationship would have progressed this much, when she had only heard of this woman just a day ago.

“love? How do you know this is love, I don’t think you you even know her that well to think you are in love with her. How do you know this is love huh?”.

Now Liam was annoyed by his mom, he was way old enough to know his own feelings and should damn well know when he loves someone and when he doesn’t. He gave his mom a side eye look and asked

” are you sure you want to know? “

” yes please tell me, your happiness is my priority here.”

“because she’s the only woman who can get it up.” he then stood up from the couch in his office and walked back to his work desk, he was indicating that he was done with the conversation, but Maggie didn’t back down. She came here for answers and was not going anywhere until all her questions were answered.

” So are you telling me that this is all about l**t, you are with her to fulfill your desires?. Liam she’s human and I didn’t raise you like that.”

Her words had touched a very sensitive spot on Liam, that he got angry immediately and hit desk with a loud thud, how dare she say that he was only using his sweetheart for his s****l desires. She is his wife for heaven sake, why would he treat her like that.

“which part of, she is the one I love did you not understand and how dare you say I’m using her for my s****l desires? She is my wife for heaven sake, the only woman I’ll spend the rest of my life with. Not Annie not Missy’s daughter or any other woman you set me up on a date with but her. Ciara Liam Jones is her name and she’s the only woman for me. “

He laid everything in one breath, which showed how angry he was.

Chapter 43

“What do you mean your wife? How could you get married and not tell me, why? Tell me Liam, why?”

Maggie was heartbroken, it’s every mom’s wish to witness their children getting married, she too wanted to be a part of that milestone and be happy with him but he had shut her out.

Should she be angry and Ciara or her son, she felt it appropriate to vent her frustrations and hurt on her son. Ciara has no obligation to introduce herself to her or tell her about the marriage, so she did not hold her responsible. It was her son she needed to deal with not the other person.

“I mean Ciara is your daughter in law, not Annie or the other women. I’m truly sorry we didn’t tell you but we just wanted to keep it between ourselves and not involve others. Ciara wish to grow in her career without the help of our Jones family and that’s what I’m giving her. We were avoiding people’s judgment and we really wanted our relationship to be only known by just a few people. So mom, please promise me you won’t say a word. Ciara is really a good girl. “

Although she still wished she was amoung the first few who was told about the relationship, she was quite an understanding person and as someone who has background in social media she knew how cruel netizens can be. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t told about it in the beginning but since she knew about it now, was going to do all she can to protect them. But first she wanted to meet the person who had captured her son’s heart.

” OK I understand, bring her home for dinner tonight. I want to see for myself if she’s a good person or not. Don’t worry, from what you’ve said about her I think I’ll like her. But what worries me now is Annie, I thought you were getting along with her. She’ll be heartbroken, I think she liked you, you know.”

” As a brother in law I’m sure she did but nothing more. “

This shocked Maggie even further, she was now confused.

” what do you mean brother in law, are they related? “

” yeah kind of, but she only found out about us last night. “

” so if she had just only found out about it, does that mean that she was never inlove with you?.”

“No she doesn’t like my kind, she has a girlfriend to love.”

Maggie’s shock further intensified, she also felt like a fool. Trying to bring to people together so that they could be a couple and potentially marry but the two knew very well that, that was never going to happen. None of them thought of informing her about what was going on but played along with her. She was hurt and felt deceived.

“Does Mike the Mayor know about this?” she asked in a low voice and one would clearly see the hurt all over her dejected self.

“well I’m not quite sure, but from what I know there’s a big possibility that he’s aware. So he’s probably doing it for his benefit.?

She was now seething with anger at least she had come to be aware of the facts before the situation escalated further, now that she knows Wilson’s true nature, she would sure stay far from him.

“we’ll see what he’ll do now, he’ll never be part of the family over my dead body.”

Liam was slightly amused by his mom’s reaction, not so long ago she was dead sure that the Wilson family was the way to go and now it’s ” over her dead body” but of course he didn’t show his amusement as that might just send the already angry Maggie to the ICU. All he could do was to calm her down and assure her that everything was going to be fine. Whatever no matter what Mike tried, he wouldn’t be able to succeed, he loved his wife so much that nothing or no one can separate him from her. He was in it for life….

Ciara who was sitting in font of what seemed like a feast of food for a party, decided to call her foodie friends and enjoy the food together. If she was going to pay for everything, she might as well not put it to waste, plus she knew the right people to enjoy herself with. People who appreciated good things.

Like she had predicted, they were there in no time. Both Lisa and Stacey were happy to get a free meal.

” I thought you said you were meeting with your uncle today why on would he leave so much food behind or didn’t he arrive at all?” at least Stacey was still able think beyond the free gourmet meal they were having. She wanted to know what had happened for her friend to be stuck with so much food, the food was a lot for two people, it was actually enough to feed about 10 to 12 people. So why on earth would Ciara order so much food.

Chapter 44

Now that’s the part she was dreading, which is explaining her disastrous life. How could she tell her friends that the mayor who was a well respected man in the city and who was actually her uncle told her, he would force her to give up on the man she loved so dearly. But they were her friends and they’ve always been there for her especially in times of need.

So she started from the beginning which was the reason why Annie trended with Liam and how her uncle reacted when he found out about herself and Liam. And how he literally forced her to leave her husband for Annie.

“Bustard, how dare he do such a thing and with what right did he possess to think that Mr Jones would go for his daughter. Argh man I wish I could kick his a*s right at this moment.”

Stacey the ever so caring and thoughtful one between her two friends, was so angry at everything that happened to Ciara and immediately went in to her protective mode. She didn’t want her friend to suffer, and the very person who was supposed to be protecting her was the very same person who was causing all the pain and suffering right now and that really angered her.

” He could be right though, I’m not worthy to be by Liam’s side. I have been disowned by my own parents, no backing at all. And maybe I’m just an object passing, he will probably be tired of me shortly and leave, what will I do then?” her voice drifted and her friend saw her drifting in to a depressive state which she didn’t want to witness, so she tried to pull her out.

” Hey hey hey, don’t think like that, you’re certainly not a passing object to him. I have seen it with my own eyes how the man looks at you and his eyes are definitely not those of l**t but are always filled with love and passion. That man truly loves, so don’t you dare think of yourself as a play thing to Liam because you’re not, and Liam is your husband. OK? ”.

Ciara seemed to be thinking deeply about something, it could be the word Stacey just spoken. But soon Lisa who had been quiet all this time, finally spoke. She was concerned about her friend but also wanted to know about her family whom Ciara had never mentioned till today, so now was the day she was hoping for the truth.

” Are you telling us that you are related to the mayor? Ciara that means you’re from a Rich family, people shouldn’t say that you don’t have a strong backing. If you’re related to the mayor, then your other relative must me equally as powerful as he is. So even if you are not worthy in Mayor Wilson’s eyes you’ll surely be worthy in Mrs Jones. “

They then went on to eat whatever was there for them to enjoy and the three foodies sure did enjoy themselves.

On the other side of town at the business district Liam was sitting behind his desk listening to Larry his assistant telling him about what had happened between Wilson and his wife Ciara.

Liam had always been suspicious of Wilson, and ever since he collided with his mom to find a ” mate” which is his precious daughter Annie, he organized people to follow him and keep him updated with everything he does. And today it was about his wife and what he heard infuriated him.

‘ what did he mean when he said I’m with my wife in passing and will use her then disgard her like that. Since when was he a playboy.’ the thought of that just made him mad.

Although he was mad, he was also worried, he was worried of the threat Wilson made to Ciara. What if she gets cornered and gives in to his demands and leave him. He wanted to deal with Wilson immediately but also he wants to see if his relationship can withstand the test. And see if the women he called his wife really did care for him and truly did love him , although she seemed to stand up for their relationship in front of Wilson she wasn’t really firm in her words.

“Nobody will take you away from me sweetheart, no matter whatever happens, you are mine and mine alone. I will fight for you.” he thought out loud.

He thought even if she didn’t love him that much, his love for her alone was enough for the both of them so he was not about to wait for Wilson to ruin everything he worked hard for all these few months. At least his mom’s opinion towards Ciara were not that strong which means they only have one opposition apart from the love rivals. Now if he could get his family’s support it would be very easy to get rid of him. But he won’t retaliate just yet, first he want to see what Wilson is capable of doing. But most importantly, will Ciara be able to stay by his side, will she be able to fight all the negative thoughts she had about their relationship.

Now Liam was determined to prove that Ciara was worthy of being his wife, she had everything it took to be a Jones.

Chapter 45

After some time of enjoying the delicious food, Lisa who hadn’t had all her questions answered was finding ways of getting her answers.

“Ciara is it possible that you are related to theee Williams family that deals mostly with construction?”

Ciara kept quite for a while staring at an empty space, her face devoid of any emotions. She thought she had dealt with it all but now that someone asked, memories of her fights with her father over her career to the days leading up to her being disown came flashing back like a movie. It was as if someone had taken her back to those miserable days with her family. It wasn’t that Mr Williams hated his daughter but he had always expected more from her, and had never showed to be proud of her small achievements. He never realized that his actions were the root cause of their strained relationship and had always thought of his daughter as rebellious which was why he cut her off in hopes of teaching her a lesson.

To him a child born to a business background should do nothing else but to support the family and what Ciara was doing was just her being selfish.

Just when Lisa thought she would not be getting a response, she heard Ciara’s low voice. Judging from her reaction earlier when she asked, Lisa could easily guess the answer but chose to wait and get the facts and not speculate.

“unfortunately yes, they are my family by b***d but in actuality I am but without a family.”

This blew their minds out, although they suspected that Ciara came from a rich family, but they never thought it was that influencial. They just couldn’t understand how rich people dealt with certain things. How could one disown their own flesh and b***d just because of their career choice. Although they had these questions, they decided not to ask out loud they just didn’t want to touch her wounds.

“it’s alright you have us as your family, plus Liam is on your side as well.”

They then wrapped up their lunch, Ciara paid for the bill using the black card Liam gave her and decided to check up on her husband, so she drove straight to the company. When she got there all eyes were curiously looking at her. By now most people had seen the post about her and the President. Luckily for her it was already holiday time and most employees were on leave so she had to endure only a few eyes.

No one stopped her as she walked in, it could be that they were already aware of the relationship she had with the president as it was not her first time going in or maybe it was because of the hot gossip trend that was circulating the internet.

When she reached the elevator she pressed the up button then waited for a while till the elevator came. It stopped with a “ding”…..

Since she wasn’t wary of anyone as everyone was on leave she walked in without hesitation but to her horror the lift was full of men in business suits who were engaged in what looked like a serious discussion.

By the time she realized what was happening it was already too late for her to exit as the elevator was already on the move. Whatever conversation they were having stopped immediately when she walked in and one of the workers tried to break the silence by talking.

“hello, are you also a stuff member here.”

Ciara hummed in response, she didn’t want to be there nor did she want to have a conversation with these men but what she didn’t know Was that she had dug a hole for herself with her response as the worker continued to probe further.

” which department are you in?.”

“uhm errh…” she didn’t know what to say. Just when she was about to say something else, everyone felt a cold and unbearable air being emitted from the back, it was so oppressing that no one had the courage to turn around and see who it came from. As the air turned in to ice, no one could bare to endure it any longer so they all exited at the next floor. Just as the last person got out Caira was pulled in to the corner of the elevator and she gasped in shock, it was so loud that everyone outside the elevator turned to see their boss holding this beautiful woman who was supposed to be their colleague. They were all curious and wanted to ask who thae woman was, but the elevator door closed way before they could be heard. That was when one of them remembered the trending topic about a screen writer being in a relationship with the president.

” did you guys feel that could stare I got from the president when I was talking to that woman…. Owhh it sent shivers down my spin.”

“shuuuuh I think we all felt it, damn I just couldn’t hold my composure under those conditions…. Anyway who was that woman? .”

“I don’t know but she looks like that screen writer who was rumored to be in a relationship with Mr Jones . She could be our Lady boss in the future.”

” yeah we shouldn’t offend her at all if we want to keep our jobs.”

They all vowed to treat Ciara well so that she wouldn’t fire them or get Liam to do her dirty work like what all women who are in a relationship with a Billionaire would do, but what they didn’t know was, Ciara was never that kind of person and would never involve herself in Liam’s business. She respected him and would allow him to make his own choices with his subordinates. And on top of that she never a nasty person, she was kind hearted and as long as you treat her well she too would be kind to you.
