Ch. 46..50: The Wife I Never Met chapter 46-50

Chapter 46

As she was pulled in to a rock hard chest, Ciara gasped in shock. At first she was scared and confused as she couldn’t figure out why Liam’s respectable subordinate would behave in that manner. But soon found the embrace familiar, this man even had a familiar scent. Familiar to the man she shared a bed with, yep her husband.

She slowly raised her head up to get a clear view of the man who was currently hugging her, only to find Liam smiling at her. His eyes were tender, filled with love and affection. But under all of that, fear was well hidden, it was buried deep in is heart. What he feared the most was Ciara leaving him, he thought she has given in to Wilson’s demands and was here to dump him.

He buried his lips in to hers, giving her no chance to speak. He thought she would make things hard for him and probably push him back but to his surprise, she kissed him back, she even hugged him by his neck.

‘Does this mean that she’s here only because she missed me and not for breaking up with me?’…

Liam thought to himself , then tried to ease up the burden that has been weighing on him the whole day.

“Hey didn’t we say that we are keeping a low profile, what is this now that you doing in front of your subordinates?what would they think of me?”

“Well I’m claiming what’s mine, besides you have been trending so some people do know about us. Don’t you think it’s now time?.”

After the stunt that Wilson pulled on his wife, Liam now didn’t care about keeping his marriage a secret. He was now determined more than ever, to protect his marriage, and if people know about it no one will dare try to sabotage it and even if they do, he’d make sure to teach them a lesson they’ll never forget.

” I guess you are right, and probably your family has found out about it, what did your parents say about me.” now that it had registered to her that people are aware or are suspicious of their relationship, she got scared, she was dejected. Coming from a rich family herself she knew how picky influential families are when it comes to relationships. She was aware that there was a huge possibility that they wouldn’t accept her given how they had been organizing blind dates and parties with a lot of single ladies for him and that’s what she feard the most and was part of the reason why she wanted wheir relationship to be kept a secret. Now she has to fight this never ending war with her in- laws and wasn’t sure if she was strong enough.

Liam noticed the panic written all over her face and tried to calm her down.

” Hey don’t stress yourself like that, my family wouldn’t do that to me, they are not like most families who only think of how their family would benefit from a union. They don’t care who I marry as long as that person is good for me and loves me the way I do if not more. Now tell me, do you love? “

Ciara’s face turn crimson red as soon as she heard that question, she had shown by her actions that she loved him and would occasionally use words to describe her love, but now that his question was this direct she just couldn’t come up with anything but said. ” yes I do and you know very well that I love you dearly and deeply.”

It wasn’t a lot of words but was enough for Liam to keep him smiling for the entire afternoon and luckily there was only Ciara to witness it. Everyone who saw him like that would think something was definitely wrong with this usually indifferent, aloof unapproachable CEO. They finally reached his office and sat down on the couch.

“You know my mom would like to meet you tonight, she wishes to see the kind of person you are and not learn about you from the internet.”

These words really touched Ciara’s heart, if what Liam was saying was true, it meant that Maggie was actually giving her a chance to prove herself. A chance for her to represent herself the way she really is and not the false rumors that were spread across the internet.

She had mixed emotions, part of her respected Maggie for that but also another part of her was panicking, she wasn’t sure if Maggie would love her true self or would dislike her more than what the netizens had portrayed her to be. All of these emotions didn’t go unnoticed by Liam, who had been observing her reaction and every facial expression she’d displayed.

” Don’t you worry, I’ll be by your side through it all, besides my mother would never cause any unnecessary problems for you. If she doesn’t like you, that’s also OK, you don’t need to worry about it as my love for you is all that matters. Plus you will not be seeing each other much as we don’t stay in the same house as them. “

Knowing that Maggie was a not troublesome person put Ciara at ease. Although she couldn’t control how other people would receive her, she still wished that the whole Jones family would accept her. She would really love to be part of the family but if that doesn’t happen that’s also OK. Like what Liam said, all she needed was his love and companionship.

Chapter 47

Once they were done with their chit-chat, Liam excused himself as he still had some work to do, tomorrow is a holiday and he’s supposed to be relaxing at home with his loved ones but here he was working his but* off so that he can provide for his family.

He opened his laptop and started typing something, it was quiet in the office room and only the sound of the keypads could be heard, he would from time to time look at the woman on the couch not far from him who had already fallen asleep. It could be because she was bored or maybe because she had over fed herself with all the food Wilson had ordered or maybe her body was exhausted from all the anxiety. When Liam was done for the day, he quietly packed up his bag and then gently woke Ciara up.

Now that the time had arrived Ciara kept sweating profusely, her nerves were on peak, although Liam had told her not to worry, she just couldn’t help herself. All the negative questions kept bothering her, ‘what if she doesn’t like me?, what if Maggie cares more about family backing and benefits?’

The questions did not stop, some were even ridiculous. As nervous as she was, she tried hard to conceal her nerves and stood up and went to freshen up in the break room, before following Liam to the elevator all the way down to the underground parking.

They then got in the car and drove straight toward the Jones family residence, throughout the ride no one said a word. Everyone’s mind was occupied by something, although Maggie had assured Liam that she wouldn’t try anything funny he still wasn’t sure how well they would receive her, he was hoping that everyone in his family would like his wife but also if they don’t, that’s also fine he would just protect her from them.

Ciara on the other side was just anxious, she hadn’t dined with people from the rich society in quite a long time and she was very sure that how she carry herself now is way too different from how she use to when she still lived with the Williams, she was scared that she would embarrass Liam in front of his whole family.

As Liam’s mind was also occupied by his doubts, he couldn’t say anything to Ciara’s to encourage her. All he could do now was to hold her hand tightly to show his support for her, and that was all Ciara needed.

As the car moved faster on the road the forest trees on either side of the road were also on the move. Flashing fast on the car window showing off its greenery, but soon a huge house or mansion which was well decorated came to view. Looking at the decorations alone one would think that there was a party held at that house, but in this case it was just a dinner party. One could say that it was to welcome the new bride to the family.

When Ciara and Liam alighted from the car, they too noticed the extravagant decorations and looked at each other.

“I know you said she’s giving me a chance to prove myself, but this gives me a feeling that it’s one of your blind dates party, and maybe she’d organized other female singles just incase I don’t make the cut.” Ciara voiced out her concerns but her words rendered Liam speechless. He didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.

” she’s not like that, you know. She only did it because she thought I was single. ” he then smiled at her in attempts to make her feel better or at least lift up her mood. Just when Ciara was about to say something, the family butler came to welcome them in.

” young master Jones, young mistress. Please do come in Madame is awaiting your arrival.” he bowed to both of them as a sign of respect and then went on to lead them in to the house, towards where everyone was seated.

As they walked close and closer to the family Ciara’s heart pounded louder and louder to a point where Liam who was very close to her could clearly hear it beating.

“Ciara Williams!! is that you?” shocked Maggie walked up to the couple while holding her wide opened mouth in disbelief, tears filling her eyes. She couldn’t believe that she was busy looking for a mate for her beloved son and here he was with his own wife in front of her which turned out to be Ciara Williams.

” Aunty Mag!” Ciara’s eyes were also brimming with tears, she too couldn’t believe that the person she feard the most and was worried wouldn’t accept her as a daughter in-law turned to be someone she knew well.

Seeing the reaction of the two people, everyone in the room were surprised and shocked that the 2 knew each other, even Liam himself couldn’t believe his eyes. Now everyone except for Liam was wondering how the two knew each other considering the fact that Ciara didn’t look like someone from the upper class.

Although her clothes were nice and presentable, but they were not custom made or designer clothes. Only the working class would wear what she had on that night. And even how she carried herself wasn’t with pride like how those rich people would, so it was easy to believe that she came from an average family.

” owh my God, how long has it been. Look at you now, look how beautifully you’ve grown. How are your parents doing? . I haven’t seen them in almost 10 years now.”

Every time someone mentions Ciara’s parents, the pain in her heart becomes clearly visible and it wasn’t any different now. Maggie clearly saw the change in Ciara’s mood right after she had asked that question.

” Well I’d like to believe that they are both doing well, I haven’t seen them for some time now.”

With Maggie’s experience and wisdom she could see that there was something wrong happening in Williams family, but now was not the right time to prob her for information. So she decided to change the topic. The purpose of this gathering was to meet Liam’s new wife and get to know her better, and that’s exactly what she wanted to do. Other matters would be dealt with some other time.

Chapter 48

Maggie then pulled Ciara to the sofa, so that they could talk freely and comfortably.

” tell me what have you been up to, I hear you are a screen writer now.”

“Well after I moved out from home, I did film studies and majored in creative writing. That was when I started writing novels and now added screen writing.”

“I’m sure that’s a fun job to do. All you need to do is being creative.”

“you know me Aunty Mag, I love writing”….

They were now in their own world and had forgotten that there were other people in the room who were still waiting for an introduction. Liam like everyone else in the room was surprised at how well his mom got along with his wife, although he too wanted to know how they knew each other he kept quiet and waited for them to finish catching up, besides he was able to piece together some of the things that were said.

Since Maggie knew Ciara’s parents, it was obvious that their relationship go way back to when Ciara was still young.

” Aheem”

Not everyone was as patient as Liam, his younger brother Zane didn’t want to be left out of the conversation and also want to be introduced to this beautiful sister in-law of his.

“Hey hey hey, that’s enough now. We get it that you guys know each other, but mom don’t you think you need to finish the introduction first, and maybe you can add how you met.”

Only then did Ciara and Maggie stop talking. Maggie wasn’t at all embarrassed by her son’s statement, indeed she had forgotten about them and was fully focused on Ciara whom she had not seen since she was very young and now that she has met her she came to understand a lot of things. She now understood the reason why Ciara wanted to keep things private. Firstly with the profile of the two families, if it was exposed even her relationship with her parents would be dug out. Secondly Ciara has always been a hard worker and never had she seen Ciara using her privileges to get ahead, even when she was in school, so Maggie understood that Ciara wanted to progress in her career without using the Jones’ surname to get ahead.

“I’ll leave the introductions to Liam as her husband..”

When the husband word dropped, everyone in the room was shocked, the Liam they knew was single and would never look at a woman in that manner. So how did he find this woman and when did they get married. Just yesterday they thought he was a cassanova and today he turns out to be a man of his household.

They moved their eyes from Maggie to Liam in expectations, what they had forgotten was that their brother was not one to explain himself. He never liked to explained his actions, unless he’s explaining to his parents or his wife.

” This is my wife Ciara, please respect her.” , and then when on to mention each and every one in the room to Ciara so that she could be familiar with them. Azzy Liam’s teenage sister was the only one who stood up and welcomed her with a hug, while the others only gave her a warm smile from where they were seated.

Immediately after he was done with his introductions, Liam’s father George who wasn’t a man of many words called him to his study.

He then turned around and walked away, Liam followed behind him. He wasn’t worried about anyone picking on Ciara as he had seen his mom’s reaction and knew that she would take care of her.

He then knocked on the slightly opened door of the study, and then walked in and sat on a chair opposite his father’s. Instead of saying anything Geoge took out a bottle of whiskey and two glasses from the cabinet behind him and poured out some of the whiskey in the glasses and handed one silently to Liam. He then leaned back to his chair and sipped on some whiskey in his glass with his eyes fixated on his son. It was as if he was studying him, trying to figure something out about him. After a couple of minutes of silence George finally spoke.

” Since when do you do keep thing from us, why didn’t you tell us you wanted to get married?”

” It’s not like that dad. We were going to inform you, just not now.”

“just not now? So when were you planning on tell us, is it on my death bed, or at my grave site?”.

” OK now I think you are exaggerating it, we were going to tell you guys once we are settled. But now you already know. “

” tell me, how am I exaggerating, you will be the death of me I’m telling you.” George then laughed it off and moved on to questioning Liam about his relationship with Ciara, he wanted to find out how much his son loved her and if they were good for each other. They spoke for a while, they had even moved from the marriage topic and were now discussing about business related stuffed. Although it’s been a while since George been in an office or taken care of the family businesses his brain is still as sharp as it was when he was still in office.

Downstairs the family was setting up the table, Ciara was also helping out with bringing out the dishes from the kitchen. Since it was a family gathering all the servants were asked to leave as soon as they were done cooking and preparing for dinner.

Who ever said Ciara wasn’t worthy of becoming a Jones would be shocked or at least surprised when seeing how well she blended in with the family.

When they were done Azlea volunteered to call Liam and old Mr Jones in.

Chapter 49

Not long after Azlea had returned to the table, Liam and old Mr Jones came in and took their seats next to their wives. After saying grace they digged in and enjoyed their Meal in silence, as that was the custom of the family.

When they were almost done, Zane who was still curious asked his question again,.

” so mom how do you know each other again?”

That question plastered a smile on Maggie’s face, she was actually happy that the daughter of her friend was now her daughter in law. Knowing Ciara erased every doubt she had, she knew that it was impossible for Ciara to be a gold digger, or have ulterior motives for marrying her son. And because of that she didn’t mind explaining.

“well her mother and I knew each other very well and were friends in college, so later after our college days we would occasionally visit each other and that’s how I was able to meet her and watch her grow.”

All the siblings were surprised that their mom was friends with someone from the middle class and it was possible that they too have met Ciara’s mom.

” so if you say you guys visited each other, does that mean that we also know her.? “

” Yes everyone in this room know who her parents are and that’s Hillary and Mark Williams from Epic Estates.”

Everyone was surprised, the simply dress lady who looked like she’s from the middle class was actually from the upper class and they knew her parents very well.

” So you mean she is their long lost daughter everyone is talking about. “

Maggie gave her son a warning look, it was as if she was telling him to watch his mouth or else she would have to teach him a lesson.

While the atmosphere was very good at the Jones family someone couldn’t rest at all without seeing Ciara suffer. That person was busy working overtime formulating ways to destroy Ciara. Last time someone was able to take down the topic related to her and this time she would make sure it’s impossible to do so. They gathered the green army from the internet along with some pictures to prove their statements. This time they were sure to get her.

Someone posted a picture of George and Maggie having lunch with the Mayor and they were all smiles on that picture, next was another picture of Liam on the night he had accompanied Annie home and lastly was, was Liam and Ciara having lunch at a restaurant together and they looked intimate.

Headlines started forming up…

“Ciara the home wrecker, snatches Liam from Annie the Mayor’s daughter.”

Everyone started to analyze the pictures, by the look of it, everything was already settled and both families were probably talking marriage now. And judging by how happy both families looked on the picture, one would assume that everything was true. Ciara was the third party in the situation and all the netizens started scolding her. No one dared to scold Liam as the cheating party in this matter but the comments were one sides and all the insults were directed at Ciara while everyone sympathized with Annie.

“This good for nothing Writer is a home wrecker, she doesn’t know how to behave herself. Maybe we need to teach her a lesson.”

” Ciara why don’t you find your own man and stop snatching what doesn’t belong to you, thief!!”

” I knew there was some truth to what they said about her previously, she’s just a loose woman. Why don’t you just die. “

As Ciara was still new in the writing world, she didn’t have much of fans but her followers doubled up. Although not much people spoke for her most of her fan knew that she wasn’t the kind of person they were portraying her to be. It’s just that they could say anything as there were even photos to support what was on the internet.

At the same time at the Jones family residence, the family wasn’t aware of what was happening on the internet. Both Ciara and Liam had left their phones in the car, they didn’t want to be disturbed as they wanted to spend the time with family. They had thought they would check their messages once they get back to the car when they leave.

But now as they stood up to say their goodbyes Maggie stopped them.

“Don’t think you are going back when we are only meeting your wife for the first time. You will be spending the night here, I’ve already prepared a room for the two of you. Besides tomorrow is a holiday and soon you will be going back to work so I’m not taking no for an answer. “

Liam looked at his dad for support but George only shrunk his shoulders indicating that there was nothing he could do for him, and just like that they had no choice but to stay at the Jones family residence for the night.

They were directed to the room where they’ll be sleeping and when they got there Ciara was surprised to find fresh pajamas and clothes prepared for them. Maggie had thought this through.

After freshening up Ciara went back downstairs where everyone was relaxing and enjoying some hot beverages over fun conversations.

” Hey Ciara come see this, you know this baby here is you when you were still young and Liam here your husband held you in his arms, I guess you guys were fated to be together from the beginning.”

Everyone in the room laughed when they heard that, Ciara on the other hand was embarrassed, she didn’t know that Liam was Maggie’s son. And now she recalled his words on the night they met and got married. He too said something about being fated to be together.

Chapter 50

Unaware of what was happening in those Twitter streets the Jones family continued their chat till late at night,. It was really lively, maybe because they were deep in the holiday season and everyone’s mood was jolly.

When it was almost midnight they all retreated to their bedrooms to sleeping. Ciara too slept peacefully next to her husband, till she was woken up by the sunlight coming in through the windows.

As usual when she woke up Liam was not in the room. She got out of bed and freshened up, when she was done, she walked down stairs to a lively room but as soon as she walked in the room everyone immediately kept quiet and started giving her food others trying to keep her relaxed as they helped her in to the most comfortable seat in the dining room. Azlea on the other hand was distracting her with meaningless conversations.

Ciara was confused by what was happening, they were perfectly fine last night, so why were they now behaving weird, it was as if like she was sick or injured and maybe pregnant. She just couldn’t figure out the reason behind their actions.

She followed along and sat down to eat her breakfast, when she was halfway through her meal she remembered that she had left her phone in the car.

“Hey where’s Liam?”

” In the study with dad, probably going through some work. “

She remembered that Liam had said he wouldn’t be touching anything work related this weekend, so what is it now that couldn’t wait till they return back.

She finished her meal, then stood up, heading to the direction of the study, but was stopped by Maggie.

“Hey wait they are probably busy there, why don’t you try my specialty soup, it’s really good you know. ”

Now she was suspicious, with how they are all behaving, it must be that something has happened. She needed to find out what exactly did happen, and seemed like no one in this room would tell her, and they were trying hard for her not to find out. For now though she tasted the soup she was given by Maggie.

Once she was done she snuck out, and went straight to the study where she knocked and only entered once she was call in by Liam.

Liam whose head was still buried on the laptop screen did not look up but asked.

” Is She awake?”

” Yeap she’s standing right in front of you.”

He raised his head abruptly, shocked that the person he was asking about was right there, in the same room as he was. He tried to control himself as to not give himself up.

” Hey, you were sleeping peacefully earlier I didn’t want to wake you up, how did you sleep.?”

“Liam stop, tell me and please be honest, what’s going on?” . She asked as she was moving closer and closer to where he was. As he saw her coming nearer he suddenly closed his laptop shut and that action alone confirmed Ciara’s suspicion. She came to a halt.

” It’s either you tell me now or I’ll go out now and dig for myself. You decide.”

Liam sighed, he didn’t want her to see all the negative comments nor did he want to witness her reaction when she realize that she was being insulted by the crowd. But now he had no choice but to show her.

“fine but you’ll have to promise me that you wouldn’t take it to heart, OK.”

” fine”

He then motioned her to come over, he opened the laptop and showed her the head lines.

“I’ve been busy trying to neutralize everything but this started last night so there’s almost nothing we could do with the situation. It has spread all over and by now everyone in the country knows about it. “

Ciara kept quite while reading the comments, this time she saw for herself how much they were cursing her, with each passing comment, bit by bit tears filled her eyes. She wasn’t hurt at all, she knew that everything they were saying about her were false. But she was angry, angry at the person who started all of this nonsense, everything written about her is destroying her character and portraying her as the person she’s definitely not.

Some where not holding themselves at all cursing her to die, some calling her a home wrecker.

She laughed a little when she read that part and found herself speaking out loud.

” hehe, how am I a home wrecker when I’m married to the man you’re saying I’m cheating with. Makes no sense.” she continued reading with tears now rolling down her cheeks, she didn’t want to cry but she just couldn’t control her anger.

Noticing this Liam shut the laptop, he just couldn’t bring himself to watch her torture herself like that.

What was Important was to find the culprit and solve the problem as soon as they could.

Coming back to her senses she looked at Liam who had a worried look plastered all over his face.

” Do you know who did this?”

” Well it’s only two people who have the courage to do this, but I’m working on it, don’t worry too much alright!.”

Even though he said she shouldn’t worry, she still wanted to know her enemy. She wanted to know the kind of person she’ll be going against
