Ch. 91..95: The Wife I Never Met chapter 91-95
Chapter 91
At this moment Ciara was having some fruit Donna prepared for her as it was now her turn to host Ciara in her home, as they engaged in some conversation while the TV was playing. With Donna being the only person she knew in the city, they’ve grown closer over the days and now we can safely say that Donna was both Ciara’s doctor and friend.
They chatted happily about general topics and the television programs they both liked and watched and also discussed their views on the plot twist on those shows, untill the security intercom tone sounded through out the whole house.
Donna lived in a gated community so whenever she had a visitor, they would have to report to the security officers at the gate before they are granted access so since Donna didn’t report anything or let them know that she was expecting two visitors, the officer called to confirm if the person at the gate was really going to her house.
“Owh yes, please let her in.”
After finding out that the person at the was her younger sister Melissa, she instructed the security officer to let her in.
After some time there was a knock on the door and Donna was in the kitchen pouring her second glass of soda opened up her.
” Hey I thought I should bring pizza for lunch, have you eaten yet?”
” Nope we were just having frui….”
” Owh my God! what the in the word of God are you guys watching, I’m only here to see my crush but look at you.”
Ciara was left dumbfounded when she heard Melissa’s remark, she wondered who that crush of hers could be.
” Owh yeah she’s madly inlove with some famous business tycoon, Ciara this is my crazy little sister Melissa. Melissa be good now we have a guest, this is my friend Ciara she has just moved in here.”
” Owh nice to meet you Ciara, luckily I brought a pizza with, that will now be your welcome gift hahaha. “
She said those words as she happily brought the pizza out and opened the box up so that they could all share, she then picked up the remote and changed the channel while Ciara excused herself as she needed to use the bathroom.
” hush hush you guys, the program will start at anytime now. “
Donna was somewhat annoyed by her sister’s enthusiasm, she felt it wasn’t necessary for her obsess over someone who was already taken.
” Hey don’t tell us to keep quiet, look he is with his girlfriend there. That man is already taken and you better look for another man to crush on.”
Melissa threw herself on top of the couch as she sulked, yes she was a drama queen.
“oooh man this just sucks, some people are just lucky. Look at this girl, just because she was born in to a political family now she gets to keep an outstanding man as him. But it is fine, I will put my feelings to rest once they make their relationship public. “
She really hoped that announcement will not come out today. Soon both Liam and Annie came in the conference room, with Liam opening the door for her and carefully guiding her to her seat. He went as far as opening the chair for her so that she can sit down.
That was when Ciara walked back in the room.
” anyone wants a..”
She trailed off as she too saw the attentiveness of Liam towards Anne, but she was not jealous at all. She knew that with both their personalities they would never agree to what they do not wish to do and there was a slim to no chance that Annie would date someone of the opposite gender. What shocked her though was the sudden appearance of her husband, she was still trying hard to make peace with the fact that they can’t be with each other at the moment. And she unknowingly touched her belly.
Both the girls in the room turned around when they noticed that she had trailed off but saw that she was stuck in one place with a painful look on her face.
“Melissa laughed a little, what? Is he also your crush? Huh! I knew it, nobody can resist the charm my man has. But don’t worry I’m not greedy we can share my crush.”
Ciara forced out a smile and tried her best to be cheerful and returned to her seat.
” Don’t be silly, here eat your pizza otherwise it will go cold. You don’t want to eat a cold hard pizza do you? “
Mellisa huffed as she took out a slice for herself.
Donna though knew how to see through people and she definitely noticed that Ciara wasn’t being herself. Ever since she saw the said couple her mood was a bit off, so she patted her lightly and asked.
” Are you sure you are fine?”
” uhm jeah, yes I am, don’t worry.”
Donna couldn’t say anything after that as the program started and she dared not to disturb her sister while listening to her crush as she would never hear the end of it.
” Ladies and gentlemen you are welcome to this press conference as Ms Annie Wilson will address all your questions and concerns regarding her recently leaked photo of her and her friend which I can not mention her name. You may ask all your questions when both Mr Jones and Ms Wilson are done.
When the speaker was done with his greetings he welcomed Annie to the stage.
” Hello, although most of you may already know who I am, my name is Annie. I’d like to confirm that the person on that picture is indeed me, unfortunately this photo was taken without my consent. This was a private moment between my friend and I. Something that was supposed be fun, private and between two friends was now shared with the world and sadly because of this my male friends were also affected. I would like to apologize to Mr Jones for any inconvenience and trouble caused because of my negligence and would also like to clarify my relationship with with once and for all. Although most of you may think that we are inlove, I’m afraid to disappoint you because we are not. He is my brother in law and I respect him as that, and wish not to go beyond that. The woman on the photo is the one my heart most desire and she is my partner.
We will appreciate it if you respect us and our decision. Thank you. “
Chapter 92
“what? Owh my word you guys look at that, I guess the gods are still with me hehe hehe. They are not together.”
Melissa stood up happily and went to pour herself a glass of wine, when she came back she noticed that the two ladies with her are not as thrilled as she was, what made things worse Ciara still looked as sour as she was before Annie started talking.
” Hey what’s wrong with you?, are you mad that I get to keep my crush hahahaha loosen up now won’t you.”
“Hey stop it, leave Ciara alone in fact even if they are not in a relationship that man is still taken. Now shut up and listen.”
She took another slice of pizza and stuffed it in her in frustration and continued watching. Once Annie has sat down the reporters were given a green light to ask all the questions they had.
” so Miss Wilson, does this mean that you are gay or are you bisexual as some of the netizens expressed? .”
One of the reporter asked.
” to answer your question, yes I am gay. I’ve only dated people of the same s*x as me and it will continue that way.”
Another one mustered up all his courage to ask a question that could potentially end his career.
” I know this is Miss Wilson’s conference but Mr Jones if you do not mind, is it true that you are really married? And if that is the case can you please share some details about your wife, who is she and why is she not here with you today? .”
” You are right this is not my conference and I am only here to give support to Ms Wilson. I will however allow one question and hope it will address all your queries. “
He paused then moved his eyes to one of the camera lenses in front of him.
” I am indeed a married man, unfortunately to all the single ladies out there, this man over here in no longer on the market. My heart have been captured by the most amazing, beautiful woman I’ve ever met. She is the one I long for each day, her beautiful smile brightens my day and my heart screams for her name every single day. She is however a very private and shy person hence you have not seen her on the spot light quite often . She is the famous writer Ciara Williams. My Mrs Jones ” although he was only facing a camera lens, it was as if he was talking to Ciara directly, assuring her that he still had her in his heart and was fighting for their love. He then winked before returning back to his seat.
As Liam was speaking Ciara kept blushing little by little and by the time Liam revealed her identity she was already as red as a tomato and buried her head in her hands.
” No he didn’t. “
What she didn’t know though was that there was one person in the room who was concerned about her from the time she came back from the bathroom and kept stealing glances at her to ensure that she was still fine so all these movements and blushing did not go unnoticed. And because of this reaction Donna started getting suspicious then looked at her ring finger and back at Liam’s finger and smiled.
” no no no no, Why did he have to be married though. Agh at least he is a romantic man. Don’t you worry Ciara, we will find another guy to crush on. Wooo wait a minute. “
She paused for a moment, looking at Ciara with shock and disbelief and then shook her head.
” No it can’t be, your name is Ciara Williams right? Oooh gosh what are the odds, are you really his wife and the famous novelist? “
Ciara was like a child who was caught stealing as she couldn’t answer Melissa.
“uhmm ehhh…”
” Can you not be this ignorant Melissa, they are wearing the exact same rings, what does that tell you huh? But since she didn’t say anything it means that she doesn’t want to be known so please keep it down. “
And yet again the doctor saved the day.
” Thank you. Can you guys not mention it to anyone else.?
“no need to ask dear. What writer again? My friend Ciara is just an office girl.”
Donna was so used to the doctor patient confidentiality rule that she didn’t see a problem with keeping this one little secret for her new friend so she readily agreed.
That was not the case though for Melissa who loved freebies.
” Hey speak for yourself, I’ll keep your little secret only if you promise to take me to set on your next movie. I have always been curious about how they are made and of cause meet a hunk.”
Ciara let out a sigh of relief when she heard that, she had initially thought that Melissa would have an unreasonable request. Turns out, the girl only wants to meet celebrities, huh! So Ciara responded with the widest grin,
” I promise. “
It’s a good thing that Melissa wasn’t really obsessed with Liam and only treated him as a celebrity crush, because this could have easily gone left and instantly became enemies with Ciara. But fortunately that was not the case this time, Melissa will soon be on another crush finding mission.
Wilson who was watching everything inside his Mayoral office was now going mad about the change of things. He could take being played by people as he was in a political environment and that was a normal occurrence in politics, but what he couldn’t accept though was being betrayed by his own daughter. He thought he had everything planned out, but it was obvious as day light that Liam’s plan was tighter than his. And the wink at the end of Liam’s answer made things worse as he angrily threw everything on his desk to the floor.
” aaaaaah, damn you Liam. Annie I no longer have a daughter like you.”
Chapter 93
Seeing that he had no control over his emotions, Wilson opted to head home and deal with his problems. He locked himself up in his study and no one dared to disturb him, lest they provoke a lying beast even his wife was not comfortable going to that study. It wasn’t until dinner time that he opened the study door and headed downstairs, if it wasn’t for his protesting intestines maybe he would have locked himself up until the next morning.
As he walked in to the dining room he found that everyone was happily having their meal without bothering to wait for him, what made things worse was the fact that Annie was also in the room eating her meal as if nothing ever happened, like she did not just stabb him in the back when he least expected it.
” You even dare come to my house after all you have done. My reputation is in the muds because of you, in fact I no longer have a daughter like you! Get out of my house.”
“Wilson No, she’s our only child..”
His wife tried to defend Annie but Wilson had always been head strong so there was no way he would change his mind. Once a decision was made, he stick to it no matter what.
He pushed his wife aside while pointing a finger toward Annie his very own daughter.
” I said get out!”
Instead of trying to defend herself or get Wilson to understand her view on the situation, she just accepted the punishment. If Ciara was able to live her life even after she was disowned by her parents then what will stop Annie from doing the same thing. She stood up wiped her mouth and looked at her mother with a reassuring look.
“Mom, it’s ok. I will be fine.”
She then went to her room and grabbed her purse and a few items of clothing and stuffed those in her small suite case. She was out of that house in no time.
” Wilson are you insane, you started this whole mess. All Annie did was was clean up after you, she was trying to save your a*s but no you had to chase her away.”
After dropping those words, she ran upstairs straight to her bedroom with tears leaving a trail as she ran and locked herself up. She had no intentions of sharing a room with that cruel man she called her
Husband.
Just like that Wilson was left in that big dining room with no one but his big ego. With adrenaline still pumping in his b***d he felt that he did nothing wrong but only got rid of one bad apple. He continued to sit down and ate up whatever dish was on that table, but because of the sour mood he was in, everything that was in his mouth seemed to have no taste but that still didn’t stop as he gobbled it all up.
Days passed by quite quickly and the chaos caused by Liam and Annie’s statements on social media had died down a little, but both Liam and Wilson were still at hard war with each other, it was one problem after another. Annie finally left the country and felt it was time for her degree to be put in to use, she was able to score herself a good Job in the states. It was bitter sweet for her, she was supposed to happy that she was finally going to be independent and have a new identity but now she was just sad, sad that she was leaving her family and everything she knew behind. It was hard to sit by and watch her own father destroy the entire family and reputation, she could not go against him but it was also hard to see him get defeated, falling from his glory and the most respected man in the city to nothing. She knew that once Liam started with his attack, he will certainly go all out and her father will not be able to defend himself, too bad he does not take any advice. Since that incident when Wilson disowned Annie Mrs Wilson had been ignoring her husband and refused to talk to him.
Not long after Annie left the country, things took a turn for the worse for Wilson. Skeletons he thought he had long buried, resurfaced.
Firstly it was rumored that the remains of a man who worked for him during the days he was venturing in to politics, and was reported missing at that time were now found and he was somehow linked to the murder of that man and was now currently under investigation for murder.
When he was still dealing with that, trying to salvage what ever dignity he still had, a woman came out claiming that Wilson had sexually assaulted him and promised her a job as compensation. As if that was not enough another group of women claimed the same thing, and one of them even had a baby boy to prove her claim. All of this betrayal and dishonesty weighed a lot on Mrs Wilson’s heart and she just couldn’t take it any more and filed for devorce and also joined her daughter overseas. Unfortunately for her, all of Wilson’s assets had been frozen so she couldn’t get any devorce settlement payout. She had to start from scratch yet again. By the time Wilson was finally arrested and charged, his crimes had piled a lot. Fraud and money laundering was also added, so his crimes were enough to send him to jail for a life time.
Although things were very chaotic in this city, it was relatively calmer where Ciara was. She was now 6 months in to her pregnancy with her friend Donna there to help her whenever she needs help. Her baby was developing well, and the bump was well visible to anyone who saw her.
Apart from office politics she was actually settling in quite well. She was now promoted from an office girl to a junior editor which earned her a certain level of respect from her Co workers. Of course she still practiced her passion of writing, she would write every time she was home, and as of current she was done with the scripts that she started when she was back home and had also submitted them for editing and review.
Chapter 94
She told herself that this was her last work until she gives birth and also the last script under that company , after this she was going to terminate her contract. It wasn’t that she had a bad contract or was mistreated by the management team but she just wanted a new start with her new life.
She was now sitting in her living room brushing her bulging tummy as her little one was being playful in that womb of hers. Every part of her tummy was moving as her baby turned and kicked, she even at some point thought that her baby was actually a boy and if that was true he will certainly be a soccer player.
Yes she still did not know the gender of her child, there were many times when Donna wanted to share the news but every time that happened, her response will always be,
” No Dee I don’t want to know that now, I really want my husband to be present when you tell us. I want us to both find out about the gender at the same time.”
She still had hope that Liam was going to come for her and was looking forward to seeing his reaction when he finds out that he was going to be a father. The news playing on the television right now gave her a lot more hope that her dream of seeing her husband were nearing, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
” Oh baby, daddy is going to be happy to meet you soon!”
At the sea side villa, Liam, Finnick and Matthew were in a meeting. As they were able to defeat Wilson after such a long time of hard work, it did not stop there as it was now time to look for his family.
They had previously confirmed that Ciara was in the neighboring city, so what they had to do now was to mobilize a team to help them look for her.
They were able to track the exact location where the phone was switched off, so they packed up whatever they will need for a few days and left.
Because they had left the villa in the afternoon and during traffic hour, by the time they reached the next city the sky was already dark and most shops were closed so they had to book a hotel for the night and would resume their search in the morning.
They were able to get a suite and everyone turned to their rooms as they all needed some rest. When Liam got in his room, instead of catching some sleep he decided to set up his work station there. The table was full of video screens and a computer connected to those and started working, he tried to find out if there were any activities from Ciara that were performed prior to entering that shop, those may serve as clues which would be of great importance to finding his wife.
As he couldn’t find anything there, he decided to also hack the CCTV footage of the cameras that surrounded that shop. After a long time of watching what seemed like a fruitless labor, he finally saw the exact same cab that was at his house on the same day Ciara disappeared. On the video she got off and walked for a while till she entered the luxe watch shop.
Liam then shifted to the Camera from the shop where Ciara entered, he watched as Ciara was standing on the opposite side of the counter while talking to the attendant of that shop, she then took of her watch and gave it to the man not long after that she took out her phone, typed something on it and it did look like she had switched it off before placing it face down on the counter . After some time the attendant was back with her watch, she paid cash for it and left without taking her phone with her.
She stopped another taxi but just when Liam was about to follow that, the door to his room was pushed wide open by Matthew while holding a bottle of whiskey in his hands.
” Man don’t do this, you need all the strength you can get to find your family. If you overwork yourself like this, you will end up in hospital. How are you going to find them when you are in your death bed. Here take a few sips.”
He handed him that bottle, then Finnick also showed up with two more glasses.
” Again why are you fellas not sleeping?”
He asked in a serious questioning voice forgetting that he himself was not sleeping.
Liam pointed at the screen in front of him,
” Well as you can see, I’m working.”
“Hey don’t look at me, how was I supposed to sleep with Liam’s lights so brightly lit?”
Matthew shrug his shoulders as he spoke and then took a sip of the fine whiskey in his glass. He then turned to Finnick to hear what excuse he will come up with.
“Well I’ve been thinking, if she was careful enough to not use any of her cards here then don’t you think she might not even be in this city as we speak?”
” That’s exactly what I thought, which is why I got in to the camera surveillance around the shop. Come check this out.. “
They again went through the footage and would stop it at times and discuss that particular scene displayed on the monitor. They were able to see that after she got in to the second cab, it drove her straight to the airport but because of the security strength and wall put in place to protect their data they were not able to track her movements while inside the the airport.
After some time of sharing each person’s point of view and plans for the next day, they decided to call it a night. Immediately when Liam got in his bed he fell asleep almost instantly. And slept peacefully through the night.
Chapter 95
On the next day after they had woken up and finished getting ready, Liam and his friends headed out of the hotel and straight to the luxe watch shop where they first spotted Ciara, when they got to the shop they saw the very same man who had attended to Ciara when she was here.
” Good morning gentlemen, how may I help you today.”
He welcomed them with a big smile on his face, as he thought that he had hit a jackpot with these three rich looking men that had just walked in his shop.
“Remember this woman? You helped her about a few months ago, we are looking for her.”
Liam took out his phone and showed the displayed picture to the shop attendant. The poor guy took the phone and spent some time looking at the picture trying to remember if he had seen the woman anywhere.
” Vividly yes I do remember seeing her, but I just can’t remember how I’ve helped her and certainly dont know where she is right now.”
Finnick took a step closer and assessed the shop attendant, we wanted to ensure that what he was saying was true.
” How about I help you remember, when this woman was here, she left a white apple phone on your counter , and it was switched off. “
It was rare to hear Finnick speak in public and when he did, his gravely voice always scared people and this time was no different as it seemed that the man instantly remembered Ciara.
” Ohw yes I do remember her, she was here to remove a tracker from her watch, which I really found it odd but still did remove it for her anyway . Hold on I’ll get the phone for you, we’ve been keeping it safe, incase she came back looking for it.”
He turned around and walked to back of the shop where the storage safe was being kept. After punching a few numbers on it, he opened the safe door and took out a phone among the many things that were stored in that safe..
” Gentlemen, I trust that this is the phone that you are looking for.”
He pushed the phone toward Finnick, but Liam reached out and took the phone to check it out.
Because the phone was switched off and was not in use for a long time now, the battery was dead and needed to be charged before they could be able to page through it.
” are you sure that’s all that you remember?”
Finnick asked again, just to make sure that they were not missing anything useful to their search.
” I swear!”
Since the man had sworn that he knew nothing, all they could do now was to just go back where they came from. They returned to the hotel where they charged the phone and Matthew called for room service so that they could enjoy their meal while waiting for the phone to fully charge.
As a busy man who ran a multi billion rand operation, Liam needed to check-in on his work every now and then. Even when he was out of town, he still had to do his work, so in reality Liam never really had a day off. He had instructed Larry to send him all the important documents that needed his signature and attention, so that is what he was currently busy with right now. He was engrossed in the documents that he was reading that he did not even notice when the food was delivered to their suite. His friend had to remind him that he needed to eat before he could close his laptop and stop working. He then walked up to the buffet setup that the hotel staff had set for them and dished up his meal. He then sat down to eat.
” Hey Liam, how big do you think Ciara’s belly is right now? Owh wait do you think it is a girl or a boy that you guys are having.?”
Liam scratched his head, he understood that Matthew asked that question so that he can lighten up his mood, make him look at the brighter side of things and encourage him not to give up.
He took a sip of the Mango juice in front of him and looked out in space through the window in the room.
” Owh Matt, let me say that your timing is really bad but if I had to answer you, I would love my child regardless of the gender. But if I really were to choose it would be nice if she was a girl. I will be able to protect her from all the harm and bad people of this world, she would be my little princess. But of course if it is a boy that’s also OK as he will help me protect his mommy and and run the family business. “
He smiled while thinking about these things, a future worth looking forward to. He continued to enjoy his meal now in a much better mood and when they were done with their meal it was time to switch on the phone and browse through it for clues. Luckily the phone was still working and the first thing they did was to check for the calls she made leading up to the day of her disappearance. After a few minutes of jotting down the numbers that were not saved, they started making calls, one by one they called those numbers from the list.
A long time had passed but they still did not find anything useful from that contact list. They were hoping that she might have called a friend or maybe a relative to help her but as it turned out, she did everything on her own.
“Damn it!”
Matthew hit the table in frustration as he did not know what to do next , but the investigative side of Finnick never gave up. He deals with things like this daily at work, so this was nothing but a minor set back to him . He intensely looked at Liam and maintained an eye contact with him, it was as if they were both up to something.
” If you were Ciara and had no relatives or friends to depend on outside your city , what is the first thing that you would do when planning an escape?”
As he spoke, he was lazily sitting at the edge of his chair with his back against the back rest while his right hand gently tapping on the table.
