Ch. 461..470
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 461-You Ruined Me After hearing what Alec said, Jenny was surprised. She didn’t expect that Alec had already seen a psychiatrist. While feeling relieved, she still had some worries. Since a psychiatrist was already involved, why was Alec still in his current state?
Jenny didn’t know much about psychology, so she didn’t comment much. “That’s good,” she said. She didn’t insist on Alec seeing the psychiatrist she recommended. She believed things would eventually get better as long as he continued to see a doctor. The two didn’t discuss the matter any further. After dinner, Jenny got up to clean the dishes and left Alec’s place after washing them.
Jenny was just about to take a shower and call it a day when she got home, but someone knocked on her door loudly. Before she could even ask who was there, a drunken voice sounded from outside.
“Jenny! Open the door! You’ve ruined everything for me. Are you happy now? I got divorced from Sam because of you. I would’ve been Alec’s wife if it weren’t for you. I wouldn’t have ended up in this miserable state!” The person outside the door shouted and pounded on Jenny’s door relentlessly.
Jenny didn’t want to deal with Yvonne, but it was already late, and she was making quite the ruckus. If this went on, Jenny’s neighbors would surely complain. Thinking of that, Jenny reluctantly opened the door. She could immediately smell the alcohol on Yvonne, which caused her to frown and think, “My goodness, how much did she drink?” Across from Jenny’s unit, Alec also heard Yvonne’s voice. He opened his door with a grim expression. Yvonne looked at Jenny, then at Alec, and tearfully walked toward him, saying, “Alec, I divorced Sam.” Alec didn’t give her any response.
“We were good friends once. Please help me out one last time, Alec,” Yvonne pleaded. There was no way she would submit to fate and become poor. She believed that with Alec’s help, she could be successful no matter what business she did.
Unfortunately, Alec had already run out of patience when it came to dealing with Yvonne. “Do you know why you still have the chance to stand here?” Yvonne was stunned and didn’t answer.
“It’s because I once regarded you as a friend. That was the sole reason why I showed you mercy. Otherwise, based on what you did to Jenny, you would’ve died many times over,” Alec said frostily.
He spoke his words so coldly that Yvonne couldn’t help but shiver. “Have you forgotten about the days when you were struggling? I was the one who was with you, not Jenny or anyone else. It was me! Why do you think I had to deal with Jenny? It’s all because of you,” she shouted at Alec angrily.
Her heated outburst didn’t stir any emotion in Alec. He simply looked at her with an unbothered expression. “Disappear from Jenny’s sight immediately, or I’ll see to it myself.” Alec thought he was already merciful enough toward Yvonne.
Although Yvonne was very drunk, she could still feel the chill emanating from Alec. Her fight-or- flight instinct kicked in, and she dared not say another word to Alec. However, that didn’t mean she would leave. She turned around and closed in on Jenny.
“It was you! You ruined me!” she shouted at Jenny as if trying to vent her anger.
Too bad for her, Jenny didn’t feel guilty for her sorry state at all. She looked at Yvonne calmly and said, “It wasn’t me who ruined you; it was you who ruined yourself.” If it weren’t for her twisted thoughts, how could she have come to this?
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 462-You’ll Face Retribution Yvonne couldn’t understand what Jenny had pointed out. Even if she did, she adamantly refused to accept it as the truth.
“Do you think you’ve won? Do you think Alec really loves you that much?” Yvonne asked. She then scoffed, “His heart belongs to Quinn, and you’re just a substitute!” Alec’s expression changed in an instant. He’d been wondering who would’ve told Jenny about Quinn, but now it seemed Yvonne played a part in it.
“Shut up!” Alec bellowed as he moved toward Yvonne.
“What are you doing? Do you intend to kill me so that I’ll be silenced?” Yvonne asked and laughed at her own question. She never imagined that she and Alec would face off like this one day.
Alec was now standing in front of Yvonne, ready to strike, but Jenny stepped forward and stopped him.
“Don’t waste your energy on someone like her,” Jenny said. Looking at Yvonne, she continued calmly, “For me, there is no victory or defeat. I rely on myself. I don’t care about the relationship between Alec and Quinn, and I’m not afraid of losing Alec as well. Yvonne, do you understand?” She was strong and could stand on her own two feet, so she wasn’t afraid of losing anyone.
Yvonne understood what she meant. She once dreamed of being someone like that, but she couldn’t achieve it herself. Therefore, she didn’t believe that Jenny could do it either. “Easy for you to say. Are you sure you got to where you are today without Alec’s help?” Yvonne sneered, not convinced by Jenny’s words at all. Jenny was about to speak, but Yvonne interrupted her, “The Dickmans were taken over because Alec intervened. It wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t stop the Blooms. Wasn’t your clothing design company used to be mine? Can you really say that your haven’t relied on Alec at all?” Yvonne thought she had hit Jenny where it hurt with her sharp words. However, Jenny didn’t care, nor was she angry. “Alec’s collaboration with my elder brother has nothing to do with me. I got the company…” She paused, then smiled helplessly. “Why am I telling you all this? You have it in your mind that I relied on Alec to get to where I am. No matter how much I explain, you won’t believe it.
*She felt stupid trying to persuade Yvonne.
Why was she doing something so meaningless?
Jenny turned to Alec. “Get some rest. Don’t mind her. If she bangs on the door again, I’ll just call for security.” “Alright. You go ahead first.” He had to make sure Jenny was back in her unit safely before he could relax.
Jenny didn’t oppose him. She walked in and closed the door, ignoring Yvonne’s sharp glare.
As soon as the door closed, Alec’s gentle demeanor from just a second ago vanished completely. His face turned cold and grim as he asked, “Yvonne, do you really think you didn’t get married to me because Jenny appeared in my life?” Yvonne didn’t reply, but in her heart, she believed so.
“I’ll tell you the truth. Even without Jenny, I would never have married you.” He felt it necessary to make it clear to her so she would stop holding onto unrealistic fantasies. His words were somewhat hurtful to Yvonne.
“But we used to be so good-” “You thought it that way on your own. To me, you were just an ordinary friend.” He didn’t want to give her any hope.
“So it was just all in my head?” She really did think she could marry Alec back then. She thought she was different from other women in Alec’s eyes. But now it seemed she’d been foolish to think that. Besides Jenny, Alec didn’t seem genuine in his feelings toward anyone else.
“Alec, you will face retribution for this!” Yvonne cursed and walked away.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 463-Things Won’t End Well for Them No one would take what she said seriously. Alec didn’t, and not even Yvonne herself. When she came to think of it, what kind of retribution would really lead someone like Alec to his doom?
She left the Perry Residence and stood on the side of the road, not knowing where she could go or who she could turn to. The Dickmans were gone, and she’d divorced Sam. The world was such a big place, but there was no place for her.
“How ridiculous!” Yvonne sneered inwardly.
She was once the proud young lady of the Dickman family. She was at the top of the world, yet, she fell from grace because she fell for Alec. Standing under the streetlamp, she looked around in confusion. In her drunkenness, she was a little unsteady on her feet. She held on to the pole, and it was unclear what she was thinking.
Following a loud rumble, several motorcycles stopped in front of her. Someone got off one of them and approached her.
“Hey, pretty. You look like you need a place to crash. Come on, I’ll take you in.” Yvonne raised her head and looked at the man in front of her. His striking red hair failed to leave a good first impression on her.
“Get lost!” “Oh, she’s quite fierce. I like that.” The man with red hair didn’t care whether Yvonne agreed as he stepped forward to grab her. He didn’t pull Yvonne onto his motorcycle but to an unoccupied alley not far away. Soon, Yvonne’s cries could be heard coming from the alley, accompanied by the laughter of the gangsters, who sounded as if they were enjoying a show… The next day, Jenny was woken up by the alarm coming from downstairs. She got out of bed, stood on the balcony, and looked down. Unfortunately, she was too high up and couldn’t see anything. She deduced that something must have happened. Jenny didn’t think too much about it and turned, walking back to her room. After washing up and changing into fresh clothes, she went out.
Outside, Alec seemed to have been waiting for her for some time. Jenny saw him as soon as she opened her door.
“Uh…were you waiting for me?” Jenny couldn’t help but ask, her curiosity piqued.
Alec nodded and said, “There seems to be an incident downstairs. I’m concerned for your safety, so I’ll drive you to the hospital.” He didn’t really care about what had happened, but he’d heard a little about it.
Word got around that a woman was sexually assaulted by gangsters. Alec was naturally worried for Jenny when such a thing happened in their vicinity.
“There’s no need to be so nervous. You know what I’m capable of.” Jenny was helpless, as she felt that she was not that weak.
Alec didn’t seem to think the same. “How many times has it been? Have you not learned your lesson yet?” Jenny fell silent, unable to conjure any words to refute him. He was right; it was time she learned her lesson. Every time she thought she had the upper hand, she would always face powerful opponents whom she had trouble defeating.
She obediently followed Alec into the underground parking lot and got into his car.
With that, they made their way to the hospital.
When their car passed the entrance of the alley, Jenny could see many people crowding around to have a look. She couldn’t help but lament, “That kind of scum should be given the death penalty!” “Don’t worry. Things won’t end well for those despicable people,” Alec replied.
Jenny stayed silent after that as they drove by. Though she felt sorry for the girl who suffered such a tragedy, it had nothing to do with her, and she couldn’t help much.
“Didn’t you say you were going to visit Grandpa? When are you going?” Alec changed the topic, afraid that Jenny would continue to think about what had just happened and be in a bad mood Jenny thought about it and said, “I think I’ll go tonight.” “Okay, I’ll inform him,” Alec said with a laugh. He was happy that Jenny was willing to pay his grandfather a visit.
They arrived at the hospital soon. Alec didn’t get out of the car. After he watched Jenny enter the hospital, he started the car again and left.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 464-You Think Too Highly of Me Jenny had just arrived at her office and hadn’t had a chance to do her rounds when someone knocked on her door. She was quite surprised to see Natalia when she opened it.
“Dr. Walter,” Natalia said, forcing a smile as she walked in. She didn’t know how to face Jenny, but for the sake of her grandfather, she had to swallow her embarrassment.
Jenny sat on her chair and watched as Natalia approached her. “Do you need something, Miss Cruz?” she asked.
Natalia nodded. “Yes,” she said, taking a seat in front of Jenny. Jenny waited for her to speak. However, Natalia fell silent, seemingly unsure of how to begin.
She felt embarrassed, especially because she and Alec had pretended to be a couple.
“Dr. Walter, have you and Alec gotten back together?” she finally asked.
She had been away for some time, so she assumed Alec must have explained everything to Jenny by then. Jenny frowned upon hearing that. She thought Natalia had come to talk about something important, but she was just there to ask about Alec.
“Miss Cruz, if you’re only here to talk about this, you can leave. It’s working hours now, so pardon me for not entertaining such a pointless chat,” she said, pointing to the door to signal Natalia that she should leave.
Natalia felt very awkward, but she had to press on. “I’m sorry, that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I actually came here for something important.” “Then please get to the point.” “Okay.” Natalia nodded. She had a better idea of Jenny’s personality by now. “I actually came to request you to perform surgery on my grandfather in Bardoff City,” she said and handed Jenny her grandfather’s medical records.
Jenny didn’t reach out to take it from her. She looked at Natalia, feeling amused and helpless at the same time. “Miss Cruz, the medical skills of the famous doctors in Bardoff City are no worse than mine. Why bother coming to me?” “I’ve already consulted them all. They all said that my grandfather’s condition is beyond cure and surgery would be meaningless, but I can’t accept it.” Natalia couldn’t bear the thought of her grandfather’s passing. Even if there was only a small glimmer of hope, she was determined to try her best. Jenny looked at Natalia in a new light after hearing her words. She took the medical records and quickly read through them; her expression. became unusually serious.
“Miss Cruz, your grandfather’s condition indeed doesn’t require surgery.” “What…” Natalia felt incredibly sad. She thought she would finally hear something different from Jenny.
Jenny smiled as if she could read Natalia’s thoughts and said, “I’m no different from other doctors. You think too highly of me.” “Is there really no chance at all?” Natalia wasn’t willing to give up. She thought she saw a hint of a smile in Jenny’s eyes and felt like there might be a way. Jenny didn’t say anything and looked at the medical records again, lost in thought. Seeing her like that, Natalia became even more certain she hadn’t guessed wrong.
“Dr. Walter, please save my grandfather. If you can save him, I’m willing to do anything.” The next moment, Natalia got up from her seat and started to kneel before Jenny to beg her.
Jenny was taken aback and quickly stood up to stop her. “Don’t get too excited.
I’m just offering you a choice. It’s up to you to decide how you want to proceed.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 465-No Surrender To Natalia, Jenny was officially her savior by saying those words. Having a choice was good news to her; it was worrisome if there wasn’t any choice available at all.
“Your grandfather’s condition is indeed very serious, and you know this yourself,” Jenny said calmly as she looked at Natalia. Upon seeing her nod, she continued, “The only way to extend his lifespan would be through surgery.” Hearing her words, Natalia’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Is surgery still possible?
The doctors in Bardoff City don’t recommend going for surgery.” “While surgery is possible, the risk is extremely high. What they said was not entirely wrong.” Not everyone was willing to take risks, especially when it concerned the head of the Cruz family. No one could bear the responsibility if he were to die by their hands.
“As long as there’s a chance, I won’t give up,” Natalia said firmly without any hesitation. She couldn’t just sit and watch her grandfather perish.
Seeing Natalia’s determination, Jenny could relate to her desire to save her grandfather. Nevertheless, she still reminded Natalia of the risks. “I have to make it clear that although surgery is possible, the chances of your grandfather not making it off the operating table are very high. If- “Dr. Walter, I trust you. Even if it really…” She gritted her teeth and made her final decision. ” Whatever the result may be, I accept it.” Jenny nodded. “Okay. Are you sure your parents won’t object?” She didn’t want the surgery to be delayed because of opposition coming from Natalia’s parents. If that happened, it would complicate things, and it would be very troublesome to deal with.
“Don’t worry, I’ll convince them.” Natalia was confident about it. If it meant saving her grandfather, everything else didn’t matter. “When can we perform the surgery? My grandfather’s condition is very bad.” She wanted the surgery to be done as soon as possible, fearing that further delay would make things worse.
Jenny looked at the medical records and replied, “Here’s what we’ll do. You’ll talk to the directors of both hospitals and get them to work together. Both hospitals will have to collaborate so that I can perform the surgery in Bardoff City. Otherwise, I won’t be able to go.” She wanted to save Natalia’s grandfather but couldn’t do so recklessly. They would still need to arrange everything according to the necessary procedures.
“Okay, leave it to me. I’ll get it done as soon as possible.” Natalia nodded. At this point, she would do anything Jenny asked of her.
As she was leaving Jenny’s office, she stopped at the doorway. “Dr. Walter, Alec and I were only pretending to be in a relationship and nothing more. Since we announced our relationship, I’ve only met him a few times.” She felt that Jenny was a good person and thought that Alec was someone who loved quite unreservedly. It’d be a pity if the two of them didn’t get back together.
“I know.” Jenny didn’t say much. In fact, she believed Natalia, but Alec lying to her was something she couldn’t accept. After Natalia left, Jenny studied her grandfather’s medical records and contacted the necessary people. The surgery wouldn’t be easy, and she needed to gather some of the most experienced people in the medical field.
At Parrington Hospital, Yvonne sat in a regular hospital ward, staring out the window with vacant eyes that looked hollow and devoid of vitality. Upon closer inspection, one could see that she was covered in injuries, and there were bruises around her mouth. She looked like a fragile doll on the verge of shattering She never imagined she would be targeted by those gangsters right after leaving Jenny’s neighborhood. What those people did to her last night was unthinkable. Her face crumpled up with grief whenever she recalled the trauma she had experienced. She even wished she could jump out of the window.
However, she couldn’t do that. She couldn’t surrender and back down so easily.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 466-Jonathan’s Sister Suddenly, she thought of something, and a hint of a smile appeared on her gloomy face. However, her smile was somewhat chilling to look at. She got up from the hospital bed, walked out of the ward, and headed straight to the nurse’s station.
“Excuse me, can you tell me which ward Alicia Flynn is staying in?” she asked the nurse at the station with a smile. Her injured face made her look particularly pitiful.
The nurses all knew why she was admitted to the hospital, and they couldn’t help but feel a little. sympathetic toward her. “She’s in Room 308 on the third floor.” “Okay, thank you,” Yvonne said. She then turned and headed toward the third floor.
Alicia was Jonathan’s younger sister. When Jonathan had promised to help Yvonne deal with Jenny, his condition was that she would fork out the money to save Alicia’s life. At that time, she had only paid a deposit. Truth be told, she wasn’t even sure if Alicia was still alive.
Since she was still in the hospital, it meant that she was alive. If that was the case, Yvonne naturally had to go see her. After all, Jonathan lost his life because of Jenny. As his sister, Alicia would want to avenge him.
When Yvonne reached Room 308 on the third floor, she pushed open the door and saw Alicia leaning against the bed, lost in thought.
“Who are you?” Alicia looked over, feeling somewhat wary about the person who just walked in out of the blue.
Yvonne smiled and sat down next to her. “You’re Jonathan’s sister, right?” “Yes. Do you know my brother? Where is he? Why hasn’t he come to see me?” Alicia couldn’t understand what was going on. Her brother loved her the most, so he should’ve come to see her the moment she woke up. However, she’d been awake for some time, and Jonathan hadn’t come to see her even once.
She couldn’t even contact him. Hence, she was angry, but more than that, she was worried.
“I’m sorry…he won’t be able to come and see you.” Yvonne pretended to be sad and surreptitiously observed the change in Alicia’s expression.
Sure enough, Alicia’s face fell drastically. “What do you mean? What happened to my brother?” Yvonne sighed, seemingly unsure of what to say. It made Alicia even more anxious.
“Do you know who paid for your treatment?” Yvonne asked tentatively, afraid of revealing too much and wanting to make sure she was safe to make her next move.
Alicia shook her head and answered, “I don’t know. I thought it was my brother.” “Your assumption is correct. It was indeed your brother’s money.” Yvonne replied, breathing a sigh of relief.
She wasn’t sure where the money for Alicia’s treatment came from. The deposit she’d given was definitely not enough. As for the rest of the money, she didn’t know where it came from, nor did she care. As long as Alicia didn’t know the source as well, she could perfect her lie.
Under Alicia’s persistent urging, Yvonne decided it was time to tell her everything.
“Actually, it’s my fault. I wanted to hire two bodyguards, and your brother came to me and asked me to pay for your treatment as a condition. I found him loyal and righteous, so I agreed. But never did I expect…” Alicia’s heart was pounding heavily. She seemed to have guessed the worst possible outcome, and her face turned pale.
“I have an enemy who has been targeting me for some time. Your brother decided to teach her a lesson on my behalf. But he fell into their hands.” Yvonne sighed, looking heartbroken.
Alicia was stunned as she thought, “Jonathan was caught?” Just when she decided it shouldn’t.be a big deal as long as he was alright, Yvonne spoke again.
“Because of my enemy’s power and influence, your brother would likely be sentenced to life imprisonment. He couldn’t accept it, so…he committed suicide in prison!” Yvonne turned her head away right after saying that, so Alicia couldn’t see her expression. She couldn’t bring herself to put on a sad face. She could only resort to doing that for fear of arousing Alicia’s suspicion.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 467-You’re Responsible Too Yvonne was clever, as not everything she’d told Alicia was fake. For example, the fact that she’d hired Jonathan and that Jonathan had committed suicide were all true. Even if Alicia looked into it later, she would find things were as she said.
“My brother has committed suicide?” Alicia asked wordlessly.
She was in shock for quite some time as she looked at Yvonne incredulously.
The truth was too much for her to bear. The next second, she started shouting at Yvonne angrily, “Don’t talk nonsense here. My brother wouldn’t have committed suicide!” He was such a capable person. How would he be driven to take his own life?
“Don’t get too worked up. It’s not good for your recovery.” Yvonne pretended to give her caring. words of advice before she continued, “I know you’ll find all this hard to accept, but it’s the truth. If you don’t believe me, you can investigate it after you leave the hospital.” Jonathan’s death was related to Jenny anyway. She had sent him to prison, and she was also the one who wanted to sue Jonathan. As to why Jonathan committed suicide, nobody knew. Perhaps he’d really found it unacceptable to be sentenced to life in prison.
Alicia didn’t speak for a long time, and Yvonne was not in a hurry. In any case, judging from the relationship between this pair of siblings, her chances of avenging Jonathan were still quite high.
“Who is that person you mentioned?” After a while, Alicia asked through gritted teeth as she came back to her senses.
Yvonne didn’t answer her question directly but spoke up with fear, “She is powerful and influential in Parrington, and you’re no match for her. Give up your thoughts of revenge. Go far away after you recover from your illness. It’s best not to let her know about your relationship with Jonathan. Otherwise, who knows what she’ll do?” “Tell me her name!” Alicia was unwilling to give up. How could she just let it go when her brother had died in that person’s hands?
Seeing her intense hatred, Yvonne was overjoyed, but she maintained a solemn expression. “Her name is Jenny Walter. She’s a doctor working at a hospital, but she has a good relationship with Alec Faust. You’re no match for her.” “Well, I know I’m no match for her, but my brother can’t die in vain!” Alicia gritted her teeth. She silently swore in her heart, “Jenny Walter, huh? I won’t let you off so easily!” “What do you plan to do?” Yvonne was curious. She was afraid that Alicia would fail to cause Jenny any harm at all. If that happened, everything she’d done so far would be a complete waste. of her time.
Alicia had no idea what to do, so she couldn’t give Yvonne an answer either.
Nevertheless, Yvonne had already thought of a solution before coming to her.
She cautiously asked, “I remember Jonathan mentioning that he had a very skilled mentor. Do you know him?” “My brother’s mentor…” Alicia fell deep into thought and nodded after a while.
“I’ve met him a few times. He’s really skilled.” “In this situation you have to ask your brother’s mentor for help. After all, your brother was his disciple. He’ll definitely seek revenge for your brother.” Yvonne didn’t think that Alicia could cause any substantial harm to Jenny; they needed Jonathan’s mentor to do that. Since Jonathan became accomplished in combat under his tutelage, he must be very capable himself. On top of that, Jonathan might have had some fellow disciples too. If they went after Jenny, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
Thinking about it, Yvonne felt very excited.
Alicia was oblivious to what was going on in Yvonne’s head, but she thought there was some truth to her words. She said, “I’ll go find my brother’s mentor.” Yvonne was satisfied with Alicia’s response. “Rest well. I won’t bother you anymore.” As she was about to leave, Alicia stopped her. “You’re also responsible for my brother’s death.” Yvonne was taken aback and turned around. Pretending to be sad, she said, “Yes, you’re right. You’re fully entitled to seek revenge against me too. But I have nothing left. I even ended up in this state today. I don’t know what I can do to make you feel better.” She looked at herself with a hint of self-mockery and grief.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 468-I’m Around Alicia looked at Yvonne’s wounded face and gathered that she wasn’t having a good time either. At that moment, she didn’t know what to do with her.
“You can leave now and don’t show up in front of me again. I’ll investigate what you just said. If you were one bit untruthful, I wouldn’t let it slide.” Alicia warned.
“Little girl, what made you think you have what it takes to come after me? Who do you think you are?” she sarcastically asked internally, thinking people these days like to talk big. If it weren’t for the fact that Jonathan had a mentor that might be of use, she wouldn’t bother coming to see someone as useless as Alicia.
At the hospital, after a busy day, Jenny was about to leave work when Alec appeared in her office.
“Weren’t we supposed to see Grandpa tonight? Haven’t you finished your work?” Alec asked, showing some concern.
Jenny finished organizing the patient files and got up from her chair. “I’m done.
Let’s go.” “Okay.” As they walked out of the office and out of the hospital, many people saw them together. Curious about it, they all turned to Morgan.
“Have Dr. Walter and Mr. Faust made up with each other?” they asked. They all knew about Jenny and Alec’s breakup and that Alec was now with Natalia. They even felt sorry for Jenny, as she was missing out on such a good man like Alec.
They assumed Alec was a good man because it was rare for someone of his status to show so much care and concern for a woman.
“I don’t know.” Morgan shook her head. She really didn’t know.
“Dr. Walter is so lucky. Not only is she skilled in medicine, but she also found a good man like Mr. Faust,” someone sighed with envy.
Morgan sneered, not quite agreeing with them. “In my opinion, Jenny is way more capable than Mr. Faust.” “Right, right. In your eyes, Dr. Walter is the best person in the universe,” someone teased her on purpose.
Morgan snorted and didn’t continue the conversation with them.
Outside the hospital, Jenny got into Alec’s car, and they headed for the Old Mansion. On their way there, Jenny pondered how to get Old Mr. Faust to tell her the truth later. Asking him straight wouldn’t work, so she had to come up with a plan.
Alec didn’t know what she was thinking and was somewhat worried. “Mortimer is also at the Old Mansion. If you go there later, you may run into him.” Most of the time, Mortimer was in the Old Mansion. Although Alec didn’t like it, Mortimer was, after all, Old Mr. Faust’s son. So, he couldn’t refuse his right to visit his own father.
“It’s okay. I’ll just pretend he doesn’t exist.” Knowing that Alec and Mortimer had a bad relationship, Jenny didn’t have a good impression of him either.
“Well, with me around, he won’t dare to do anything to you.” Soon, they arrived at the entrance of the Old Mansion.
Warren was already waiting for them at the door. When he saw them get out of the car together, he smiled and said, “Mr. Faust, Miss Jenny, OldMr. Faust is waiting for you in the living room.” “Warren, long time no see. How have you been?” Jenny greeted Warren with a smile. Before she and Alec got divorced, she got along well with Warren. He was very caring toward her and didn’t treat her badly because she was Alec’s wife in name only.
Warren nodded and smiled. “I’m doing fine. Thank you for your concern, Miss Jenny.” They continued chatting and catching up as they walked into the living room.
As Alec had guessed, Mortimer was indeed in the Old Mansion. When he saw Jenny, he remained stoic and showed no particular emotion. However, Mortimer couldn’t help but wonder, “Is this woman really from one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City? Dad wouldn’t deliberately pull my leg. would he?”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 469-Why Bother Asking Me “Grandpa.” Mortimer ignored Jenny, and Jenny also couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to him. She looked at the old man sitting nearby and walked toward him with a smile.
The old man nodded, smiling. “Jenny, it’s been a long time since you’ve visited me.” “You know I’m busy. Please don’t be mad at me.” Jenny returned the smile. The two got along very well. An outsider would have thought that Jenny was still his granddaughter-in-law.
“I understand. Of course I’m not mad at you.” Old Mr. Faust wasn’t senile. He knew why Jenny hadn’t visited the Old Mansion better than anyone else.
As they spoke, Mortimer and Alec sat in the living room and said nothing. They just listened to Jenny and Old Mr. Faust’s conversation.
“Grandpa, shall we go to the study to talk?” After the pleasantries were exchanged, Jenny was ready to get to the point. She came with a purpose today.
Old Mr. Faust was slightly surprised but didn’t refuse. “Okay.” He stood up and looked at Alec and Mortimer, who were sitting silently. “You two go to the kitchen and order them to cook some dishes that Jenny likes.” He didn’t know what Jenny wanted to talk about, but he could roughly guess. He wasn’t sure if Jenny would get the answers she wanted this time. When they reached the study, he went in first, and Jenny followed, closing the door behind her.
Old Mr. Faust sat on the sofa and smiled at Jenny. “Have a seat, Jenny.” Jenny didn’t stand on ceremony and proceeded to sit facing him. “Grandpa, you can probably guess why I’m here, right?” “Well, I do have an idea.” Old Mr. Faust didn’t deny it.
“Then just tell me all about it.” Jenny smiled at him, waiting for him to speak.
Unfortunately, he didn’t seem to have any intention of divulging anything. “Tell you what, Jenny? I’ve no idea what you’re talking about.” Jenny was rendered speechless and scolded inwardly. “You really know how to play dumb.” “Grandpa, I went to Bardoff City a few days ago,” Jenny said calmly, looking at him.
Old Mr. Faust remained silent; his emotions were not exactly as calm as the expression he showed.
“I went to see Mr. Spade, and we talked about some things,” Jenny continued, keeping her gaze on Old Mr. Faust’s face, not wanting to miss any reaction from him.
Smiling faintly, Old Mr. Faust asked, “I heard he was hospitalized. Is he okay?” “Not really,” Jenny replied truthfully.
“That’s unfortunate,” Old Mr. Faust responded, but he didn’t really seem sorry for Mr. Spade.
Jenny didn’t care about that and continued, “I went to see Mr. Spade mainly to ask about my birth and origin. I’ve known for some time that there’s something strange about my background, but I had no clue until Christopher appeared.
That was when I had a breakthrough.” “Mr. Spade said that if I followed Christopher to Bardoff City, he would tell me everything, and he didn’t break his promise. I found out everything I wanted to know,” Jenny said.
Old Mr. Faust was surprised and seemed to not believe what she said.
“I’m not from Orchid Village, nor am I my grandfather’s biological granddaughter.
I’m the daughter of an influential family in Bardoff City, right?” She smiled at Old Mr. Faust, looking like. she’d already known everything.
On the other hand, Old Mr. Faust was stunned. “Does she really know everything? Has she found out about her true identity?” he thought in disbelief.
Everything Jenny had said was just a wild guess based on the reactions of Christophers and the others. If Christopher had fallen for her, she must not have come from an ordinary background. Now, it seemed that she had made the correct guess.
But which family was she from? And what happened back then?
“Since you already know everything, why bother asking me?” Old Mr. Faust sighed and turned his eyes away from Jenny..
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 470-No Wonder Jenny felt that she got her work cut out for her. She wouldn’t be here testing the waters if she knew everything.
“Although I know everything, I still want to hear it directly from you. After all, I always thought you were genuinely kind to me.” She looked at Old Mr. Faust with a deep gaze.
He felt unsettled being looked at like that. At first, he’d arranged for Alec to marry Jenny with a specific purpose in mind. Later, even he couldn’t tell whether he wanted her to be his grandson’s spouse because of her identity or truly accepted her as his granddaughter-in-law.
Now, telling her these things seemed to be meaningless.
Old Mr. Faust sighed and didn’t doubt what Jenny had said. “Jenny, since you put it that way, I won’t deny it any longer. I did arrange for Alec to marry you because of your identity.” Jenny had an indescribable feeling in her heart, but she wasn’t too sad. After all, this was something she’d expected.
“Is my identity that attractive to you? The Fausts are already quite powerful in Parrington.” Not only were they influential, but they could also even be considered one of the high society families. Was a marriage alliance necessary for a family like that?
Old Mr. Faust chuckled and thought Jenny was too naive. “While it’s true that the Fausts are influential in Parrington but compared to one of the Ten Elites of Bardoff City-the Walters-we are still far behind.” Jenny was shocked to hear that, but she didn’t show the expression on her face.
After all, to Old Mr. Faust, she should have known about everything.
“The Walters, huh? I see,” Jenny thought.
When she’d previously investigated the Ten Elites of Bardoff City, she’d looked into the Walters and even suspected she might be a daughter of that family.
That was an easy assumption to make since among the Ten Elites, only one had the surname Walter.
However, everybody said that the parents of the Walters were very loving, and they had a daughter. In view of that, how could she possibly be the daughter of the Walters?
She had too many questions, but she didn’t rush to ask them all at once.
Instead, she slowly said, ” Since I am the daughter of the Walters, why did I grow up in Orchid Village? You should know something about that, right?” “I’m actually not too sure,” Old Mr. Faust answered, shaking his head.
Nevertheless, he still told Jenny what he knew, “I heard that when your father and mother were together, the Walters opposed it. They all thought your mother was unsuitable for their family, so when your mother was pregnant with you, she was attacked by people hired by the Walters. You almost lost your chance to be born into this world.” “What happened after that?” Jenny asked, feeling that she was getting closer to the truth.
“Later, your father probably thought bringing you back to the family was dangerous, so he sent you to Orchid Village. Your grandfather was an attendant who’d been with your father since he was young, so your father entrusted you to him. He indeed lived up to your father’s expectations. and raised you well.” After listening to Old Mr. Faust, Jenny didn’t know what to say for a while.
“So, my father has known of my existence all these years? She’d always thought she somehow got lost from her family.
Old Mr. Faust nodded, but he wasn’t very certain. “I think he knows; otherwise, where do you think your mentors came from? Your grandfather was just a servant of the Walters. How could he have the ability to contact so many powerful people for your sake?” “No wonder!” Jenny exclaimed internally. At that moment, she finally understood everything.
“Since he wanted to keep me hidden, he wouldn’t let too many people know of my existence. In that case, how did you know?” Jenny looked at Old Mr. Faust, her gaze full of scrutiny.
Old Mr. Faust looked at her helplessly and sighed. “You suspect too much.”
