When Fang Tangtang returned, Jiang Xiaobai had gotten up and was shelling sunflower seeds. Glancing at Fang Tangtang, she teased her, “Did you and your crush start a relationship?”

Fang Tangtang’s face flushed red at her words. “What nonsense are you saying? How can things move so quickly? Besides, though I worship him, I see myself in the role of his mother, okay?”

“Uh.” He was beyond embarrassed. However, when he saw her pouting her lips as if she was about to get angry, he let go of her hands.

“I just pinched your ear; I didn’t even kiss you. What’s wrong with that?” She looked around and rolled her eyes. “Also, who’s going to see you at this hour? Don’t worry.” She pulled her hand out and planned to pinch his red ears again. It was never-ending.

When he saw her hand going for his ear, he instinctively lifted her in his arms. Before she could react, she found herself being carried up in an instant. “Hey. What are you doing? Let me down now. I’m not done touching yet.”

“Shush!” With a flushed face, he scolded, “Are you trying to let everyone in this building hear you with that loud voice?” And what did she say? Not done touching yet? With that loud voice in the middle of the night, isn’t she afraid that someone might misunderstand?

On the other hand, Jiang Xiaobai did not think that far. However, when she saw his red face and was reminded, she suddenly realized what she had just said.

“Girlfriends are meant to be spoiled. Plus, we’re on trial mode now so you’re still on probation! Hurry!”

He did not argue with her anymore and just turned around reluctantly to head to the kitchen. A while later, he poured a glass of water and brought it out to her. But when she took it, she gave him a disapproving look. “Xiao Su, don’t you know how to be a boyfriend at all? This cup of water is so cold. I am a girl. What will you do if I drink this and get a stomachache later?”

He was confused. She blinked at him. “Get a glass of warm water for me. Thank you.”

He took the glass back from her and muttered before turning around, “Fussy.”

However, Jiang Xiaobai heard it, and she immediately retorted, “How is this fussy? Women’s bodies are naturally on the colder side. Won’t you, as a boyfriend, feel hurt if your girlfriend drinks cold water in this weather and gets sick?”

That seemed to make sense to Xiao Su, so he had no way to counter it. He quickly got her a glass of warm water and she was finally content. After that, he returned to his room and took a hot shower. He had just walked to the side of his bed when the sound of a girl’s voice spooked him. Turning around, he found Jiang Xiaobai lying down and hugging on to his blanket on the other side of the bed while keeping her eyes fixed on him. He squinted at her. “What are you doing here?”

“This question of yours is a bit strange. Aren’t we a couple now? What’s wrong with me being here?”

Xiao Su frowned. Do couples have to sleep together? Even though they were dating, they were still not married yet. Moreover, he had acted out of character once last night. How would this work then? Can we sleep together without making any commitments? He pursed his lips and pulled his towel down. “I’ll sleep in the guest room.” After he said that, he turned around and headed outside.

“Stop right there!”

Xiao Su stopped in his tracks. She then asked, “Are you giving me the cold shoulder?”

He turned back around and shook his head in denial.

“If you aren’t, then why are you going to the guest room to sleep?”

Since she asked, he decided to reply truthfully, “We’re just trying out this dating thing now. It doesn’t seem right to sleep on the same bed like this.”

“I don’t mind. We’re already dating. What’s wrong with sleeping together?” Xiao Su hesitated, which prompted her to continue, “Jeez, were you also such a prude last night?”

The moment Jiang Xiaobai asked that question, Xiao Su felt choky and was unable to say anything. He looked at her awkwardly and his expression turned sour.

Jiang Xiaobai complained, “Why are you giving me that face? Did I say something wrong? If you were as much of a prude last night as you are now, would anything have happened between us?”

Xiao Su did not think there was anything wrong with what she said. If he had controlled himself better last night, something like that would not have happened. But since it did and they decided to become an actual couple, yet he was still acting this way, he was indeed being a prude. With that, he walked back silently and sat down on his side of the bed. After a moment of silence, he suddenly spoke, “Can you not be so blunt when you talk?”

“What do you mean?”

“Be more mindful with your words when you’re talking about sensitive topics.”

“How am I not being mindful? Plus, it’s just you and me in here and we already did things together. Why the need to be more mindful?”

“Just pretend I never said anything.” I shouldn’t argue with her over this. She is too good with words. I’m no match to her at all. Whatever she says will be I guess.

Jiang Xiaobai did not quite have a bold personality, but meeting someone like Xiao Su naturally gave her more courage. There was a saying that one became stronger in the presence of the weak, and weaker in the presence of the strong.

Even though they had done things the night before, she could not remember one bit of the situation because she was drunk and had forgotten everything. She only knew what happened when she woke up. Now that he was getting closer to her on his own, she was starting to feel nervous. However, she did not let it show because she did not want to seem cowardly in front of him. Her hands that were hidden under the blanket picked lightly at the bedsheet while she looked calm on the surface and watched him close in and place a kiss on her forehead.

His movement was light, like a dragonfly hovering over the surface of the water. Jiang Xiaobai blinked and suddenly remembered the kiss that happened downstairs. How was he so passionate at the time? Why is he being shy now? Is he only passionate in certain situations?

She reached up to touch her forehead. Xiao Su had already covered himself under the blanket. “Go to sleep!”

“Of course not. You’re so skinny. Chubbier people would still wear their dresses as they were. The brides I met before always asked me to make their dresses smaller. So they tried to lose as much weight as they could before the wedding in hopes that they would look beautiful on the day itself. You, on the other hand, are making space to indulge. Aren’t you even a little bit worried?”

Yan was put in a tight spot. She was not making space to indulge. In fact, she also wanted to look beautiful on her wedding day, but she was pregnant now so she did not have much of a choice. It’s not like I can get married after having the child, so I will just have to make do. Moreover, since getting pregnant, she did not dare to eat as much junk food as she used to. But Xiao Su spoke up at that moment, “How long ago did she leave?”

Jiang Xiaobai was taken back. A moment later, she replied, “About twenty minutes.”

Twenty minutes? I can’t catch up to her now. He frowned and remained silent.

Jiang Xiaobai finally sensed that something was going on. As she stared at his eyes and expression, the smile in her eyes slowly disappeared.

“The person who brought this invitation was a girl. She is petite and quite pretty.”

Once he was done sorting everything out, he saw that the room door was still firmly shut. She had not come out since she went in there. He was going to go in and explain to her but found that she had locked the door.

He went back into his room to brush his teeth. When he came out, he did not leave and went to sit next to her instead. “You’ve made so much food. Can you finish it all?”
