In the middle of the night, Song An followed Xiao Su along the corridor while she muttered, “Do you know how late it is now? Don’t look for me whenever you’re in trouble and spare me some free time!”

Xiao Su looked miserable and said, “Aunty Song, I didn’t mean to bother you. It’s an order given by Young Master Ye, so I have no other choices.”

Song An glanced at him and asked, “What’s the trouble this time?”

At that moment, Shen Qi had entangled Ye Moxuan’s body with her limbs like an octopus. She was clad in a white shirt while her hair was messy. Beside her was a sweaty Ye Moxuan who was trying to push her away while dodging her assault.

The scene before their eyes didn’t seem to be beautiful. Instead, it was hilarious.

Ye Moxuan was furious when he saw that they were dumbfounded after entering the room, so he chided them. “What the hell are you waiting for? Come over here!”

Song An widened her gaze in disbelief. Her icy cold nephew rarely called her ‘Aunty’ but just now he called out to her as if he was begging for help, and it was for a woman.

Song An came around from her thoughts and whipped out the medicine she had prepared. She placed it under Shen Qi’s nose while pressing against her.

She didn’t use much force. Her hand seemed featherly but it easily fixated Shen Qi. After a moment, Shen Qi slowly calmed down and passed out.

Ye Moxuan reached out and pulled her into his arms, his gaze fierce.

“Is that all?” he asked.

Song An sat down on the side of the bed and said, “Of course not. Lay her down and go tidy up yourself. I’ll handle this.”

Xiao Su hurriedly helped Ye Moxuan sit on the wheelchair. After all, he was shirtless and didn’t look appropriate. Song An was Ye Moxuan’s aunt, so he could be relieved of any worry handing Shen Qi over to her.

After they left, Song An took a look at the sound asleep Shen Qi. She couldn’t help but shake her head and sigh.

In another room, Xiao Su was helping Ye Moxuan put on a white shirt. He couldn’t help but ask, “Young Master Ye, why didn’t you…” He didn’t dare finish his sentence for fear of being killed.

As expected, as soon as he finished, the atmosphere around Ye Moxuan dropped to a freezing point. Ye Moxuan stared at Xiao Su with a gaze as sharp as a knife and said, “What does it have to do with you?”

After a long while, a sound was heard outside his room.

Ye Moxuan lost count of how many cigarettes he had smoked. He put out the cigarette upon hearing that and turned his wheelchair to the door.

“Young Lady Shen is awake,” Xiao Su said.

Ye Moxuan’s gaze turned colder. “Got it.”

Song An was talking to Shen Qi when Ye Moxuan entered the room. “Take a good rest tonight. Sleep well and you’ll be alright when you wake up.”

After Shen Qi regained her senses, the ordeal she just underwent came crashing into her mind. She was still worried and asked, “Am I really alright? I…”

Song An knew exactly what she was worried about. She caressed the corner of Shen Qi’s eyebrow and caringly consoled her. “Silly girl. I’m a doctor. Of course I know what you’re worried about. Rest assured, your baby is okay.”

At last, she talked about the baby. Shen Qi could finally relax when she was assured that her baby was fine. “Thank you.”

“Look who you are talking to!” Song An glared at Ye Moxuan angrily. “How can you talk this way to your wife? Shen Qi, ignore him. Have a good rest tonight. I’ll teach him a lesson.”

After saying that, Song An immediately got up and walked toward Ye Moxuan. Ye Moxuan’s brows knitted and before he could react to the situation, Song An had already reached out to pull his ear. “Come out!”

His handsome face, which had been a blank slate, completely changed at once. Shen Qi was startled to see that as she had never seen such an expression appear on his face before this; it was a mixture of anger and embarrassment. However, he couldn’t rebuke his aunt and could only say coldly, “Let me go!”

“No way.” Song An pulled his ear. “Come out with me. I have something to tell you.”

“Damn!” Ye Moxuan’s face turned livid, but he could only follow her obediently.

After they went out, Shen Qi subconsciously looked to Xiao Su who was standing beside her and felt a little bit awkward.

Ye Moxuan sneered and refused to agree with her.

Shen Qi gaped in shock. Does he want to sleep here tonight?

She didn’t move and pretended that she had fallen asleep.

“Is this how you treat your savior?” Ye Moxuan asked.

“Isn’t there another bedroom?” Shen Qi asked weakly.

Ye Moxuan booked a suite room so there was another bedroom next to this room. She used to sleep separately with Ye Moxuan so she wished that they could be the same as before.

Ye Moxuan sneered and said, “I want to sleep here tonight.”

Helpless, Shen Qi could only get off the bed slowly. “I’ll help you get into the bed. You may sleep here. I’ll go to another room.”

After saying that, she walked to Ye Moxuan and moved to help him up but she found that he was reluctant to move. Her pretty brows furrowed and she raised her gaze to look at him confusedly.

“How can I help you up if you don’t want to move?”

Ye Moxuan glared at her and sneered. “Help me up to the bed and you go to sleep in the other room? Miss Second-marriage, you’re so cruel. You were hugging me tight when you were drugged a while ago. Why didn’t you say so just now?”

Shen Qi’s expression changed as soon as he mentioned the drugging.

Ye Moxuan seized her wrist and placed her hand on his neck.

“I believe you have seen your masterpiece. This, this and this, these were all left by you,” he said in a husky voice, grabbing her hand and moving it around his neck to touch a few places.

Shen Qi was dumbfounded at the beginning and soon she became guilty, attempting to pull her hand out of his grip but failed. Ye Moxuan pressed her hand hard on his chest.

“You were half-conscious? Then how did you gather so much strength to reject Ye Linhan and explain yourself to me? Miss Second-marriage, are you forever going to deny that you have fallen for me?”

In that instant, she was stunned, as if a lightning bolt had struck her. Looking at Ye Moxuan who was just inches away, her heart started to race. She was drawn in by his icy cold gaze, his sharp nose and those finely textured lips of his.

Their breaths mixed in the air as there was barely any gap between them, and Shen Qi could finally read the emotions that were buried deep in his gaze.

For no reason, as if something had gotten into her, she asked him a question dazedly. “What about you?”

Ye Moxuan was stunned.

Shen Qi glanced at him and asked, “Do you like me?”

Ye Moxuan halted, then squinted his eyes.

Shen Qi took a deep breath as she looked fixedly at him who was just inches away. “Ye Moxuan, I won’t give my heart to someone who doesn’t love me or even despise me. If you don’t love me, why should I love you back?”

“Haha.” Ye Moxuan laughed disdainfully. “That’s the reason you deny it? Miss Second-marriage, stop lying to yourself. The moment you rejected Ye Linhan and walked toward me, you already knew what you wanted, didn’t you?”

Gao Yun glanced at her and said coldly, “We are not afraid of you even if you’re the Young Lady of the Han Family. However powerful your family might be, there’s no way you can butt in the matters of Ye Group. We were told to put some pills in the woman’s drink and hand her over to our manager. Su Jiu flashed a smile to her and explained, “Yeah. I came to look for President Han for some issues regarding the company. It’s late now. Bye.”

Han Xueyou said in a soft voice, “I’ll ask our chauffeur to send you home. It’s late now so it’s not safe for you to go home alone.”

“There’s no need. I have my own car and it’ll only take about 10 minutes. Miss Xueyou, I should leave now.”

Su Jiu left the Han residence after bidding farewell to Han Xueyou.

The soft smile on Han Xueyou’s face gradually disappeared and it was replaced by a sense of dismay. She strode upstairs to Han Qing’s room and knocked on the door.

“Qing, are you asleep?”

After a moment of silence, the voice of Han Qing was heard. “Not yet.”

“Qing, then can I come in?”

“Okay.”

Han Xueyou finally put on a smile and entered the room.

“Qing, I went to the Ye Group’s anniversary banquet tonight. Look, it’s the dress I just bought yesterday. Does it look good on me?”

Han Xueyou summoned all her courage to ask Han Qing this question.

“Qing, why are you still working this late?”

Han Qing parted his lips. “Yeah.”

Han Qing was obviously not bothered with her. Han Xueyou stood still and bit her lower lip in embarrassment.

Qing…is always so cold to me. It’s been years but he’s never changed.

She lowered her gaze and stared at her toes, as her heart gradually sank.

Han Qing suddenly realized it had been too quiet since she entered the room, then he looked up and saw a dispirited Han Xueyou staring at her toes in trance. He realized that he might have been too cold to Han Xueyou.

With that, he sized up the dress she was in and said in a serious voice, “Not bad.”

Upon hearing that, Han Xueyou abruptly raised her head and looked at Han Qing in disbelief. “Qing?”

“I was talking about the dress,” explained Han Qing, then he focused on his work again.

Han Xueyou regained her senses after a long trance, and her eyes gleamed with joy. “Qing, you really think it looks good on me? Thanks!”

After she finished, she moved forward and took a seat on a chair opposite Han Qing, only to see that there was a beautifully wrapped box on the table. “Eh? This box is so beautiful. What’s in it?” Han Xueyou said and reached out.

But before her hand could reach the box, Han Qing chided her, “Stop!”

His voice was as cold as the water at the bottom of a lake, frightening Han Xueyou and causing her hand to hang in the air.

“Get out.” The atmosphere turned freezing cold as he berated her.

Han Xueyou looked up and met his icy cold gaze. His face was solemn and even looked a little fierce.

For some reason, Han Xueyou felt a sense of grievance in her heart. She retracted her hand carefully, got up from the chair and whispered, “O-Okay.”

Then she turned around and strode out.

Han Qing remained expressionless as he reached out and touched the delicately wrapped box with the tips of his fingers.

It was a dress he told Su Jiu to pass to Shen Qi, but she said she couldn’t reach Shen Qi over the phone. He later found out that Shen Qi already had her own dress so this box was sent back to him. But it was no ordinary dress—it was a dress which Han Qing particularly treasured.

So there was no way he would let another woman touch this dress, because it was only meant for Shen Qi.

At the thought of this, Han Qing took out his phone and sent a message to Shen Qi.

After running out from Han Qing’s room, Han Xueyou returned to her own room, still sobbing, and realized that no one was behind her.

She never expected Han Qing to look for her, but his indifference toward her still made her feel dejected. But more importantly, she was in fear.

After all, her identity didn’t belong to her. The moment she became the Young Lady of the Han Family, she got to enjoy all the glory that came with it and everyone revolved around her like the stars which cupped themselves around the moon, but at the same time, nightmares never failed to haunt her.

“You’re awake, Young Lady Shen.”

The sudden emergence of a female voice frightened Shen Qi. When she took a closer look, she remembered seeing this woman in the villa before, and vaguely recalled that her name might be Yu.

”Why are you here?”

Yu looked humbly at her and said, “Young Master Ye told me to stay here until you’re awake. These are the clothes for you to get changed into and some toiletries as well. I’ll prepare some breakfast for you now.”

Shen Qi looked at the direction where she was pointing at, and realized there were indeed some brand-new clothes.

“Did Ye Moxuan buy them?” she asked instinctively.

Yu was stunned for a while, then shook her head.

“Young Lady Shen, I’m not sure about that. Since they were prepared by Young Master Ye, we can assume that he bought them, no? You’re really blessed.”

Yu left the room to prepare breakfast. After spacing out for a moment, Shen Qi got up, washed her face and got changed. She picked out a simple-looking dress, before reaching out to get her phone.

Then, it was shown that there were many unread messages, as well as other unreceived calls.

Most of them were sent by Yan, expressing her concern and asking how she was doing with Ye Moxuan. After going through Yan’s messages, she pressed the ‘back’ button on her phone and saw another message which was sent by Han Qing.

She pressed it, and found that it was a voice message from Han Qing.

‘I’ll tell Secretary Su to pass you the dress another time. Or tell me when you’re free to meet?’

Shen Qi was speechless, as the banquet was over and there was no need for a dress anymore.

So she replied to him with a brief message.

“Thanks for your kindness. But the event is over so I don’t really need any dress now. Please keep it.”

She didn’t expect Han Qing to reply to her, as she was just trying to explain what happened. After all, she did tell him clearly that there was no need to give her the dress, but he told Su Jiu to come over anyway.

After they came to an agreement, Han Qing stopped replying to her message. Shen Qi let out a sigh of relief and put down her phone. Then, she left the room and saw that Yu had prepared breakfast.

“Young Lady Shen, I don’t know what type of food you like to eat, so I have made a few different dishes. Please have a taste and see if they are to your liking…”

Shen Qi presumed that they had gone to the office, and so she planned to go there as well after having breakfast.

When she arrived at the company later, she never expected to see that her department had descended into chaos. There was a commotion in the office about the lay-off of Xu Liao, but no one knew the reason.

“What happened? He has been the manager in the company for years. Why was he laid off suddenly?”

“Linhan.” Shen Qi interrupted him before he could finish, not a hint of joy on her beautiful and delicate face. “Why did you transfer me to your department?”

“I’m transferring you over… Don’t you like it?” The smile on Ye Linhan’s face faded a little as his voice turned calm. “You know what Xu Liao is like. I must transfer you to my side to stop this kind of thing ever happening to you again, and I will protect you from any harm.”

He never cared about your wellbeing. My heart aches for you, and I have no intention of letting you go through that again.”

“Let me go!” Shen Qi’s lips quivered as she struggled. “Even if Ye Moxuan does not care about me, it has never been your place to do so either. You are his brother for God’s sake!”

“I’ve held back for such a long time precisely because I am his brother!” Ye Linhan’s tone became harsher. He squinted his eyes, and the aura he emanated turned freezingly cold. “Based on what he has done to you, I would’ve stepped in way sooner if it wasn’t for the fact that he was family.”

Shen Qi’s lips froze, and her gaze was full of disbelief. How could this be? Does Ye Linhan fancy me? Perhaps he just pities me, seeing how I am living such a miserable life.

“No!” Shen Qi seemed to have recalled something important, which led her to give Ye Linhan a hard shove. “We can’t do this. With that, Shen Qi turned to dash out of the office. Ye Zi had been waiting outside the office, and Shen Qi nearly bumped into her while rushing out. It prompted her to stand up from her seat and give a snarky reply. “I am neither the one behind their discharge, nor am I the one who transferred myself. How am I supposed to know what this is all about? I only got to know of my transfer from you all! If you want to know so badly, why don’t you go ask the higher-ups?”

Her outburst surprised everyone, as they had no idea as to why she had lost her temper. As such, one of them harrumphed in disdain. “What the hell? Why are you lashing out on us? We were only asking you a question. You don’t need to put on that attitude even if you don’t want to answer it.”

“Pftt, who does she think she is to start blowing up at others as soon as she receives a promotion? With that arrogance of hers, it’s no wonder she was demoted, and she might as well end up being fired in the future!”

“That’s right. She used to be Young Master Ye’s assistant. Even though she is a full-timer by now, she is still at most Vice President Ye’s secretary. Who does she think she is?”

Shen Qi sneered upon hearing their quibbles and proceeded to sit down to work. Gao Yun, Cui Minli, Xu Liao are fired. This could be the handiwork of either Ye Linhan or Ye Moxuan.

It gave her a headache whenever she thought of them. She never would’ve thought that Ye Linhan would say that to her. Her relationship with Ye Linhan had been inextricable at best, and it was already complicated enough to sort out. However, he had just made things worse.

Shen Qi spent the following hours in a state of confusion with her mind all muddled up. While leaving the department at noon, Shen Qi spotted Yan, who ran over and latched on to her arm.

“Hey, I thought you wouldn’t be coming to work today.” Yan inspected Shen Qi from head to toe after that statement. “You can stand?”

“Why can’t I?” Shen Qi asked.

“Shouldn’t last night be intense for you and Young Master Ye?”

“What kind of delusions are you having?” Shen Qi found herself rather speechless.

“I’m not delusional. You were drugged last night! Facing a woman like you, how could… Is he…” She trailed off, but her eyes suddenly widened as she let out a cry, which attracted some attention. “Is Young Master Ye impotent?”

Shen Qi’s complexion changed, and her hand shot out to cover Yan’s mouth. “Don’t speak nonsense!”

Shen Qi only pulled back her hand when Yan blinked hard and shook her head. “You shouldn’t be asking about this, and it doesn’t concern Ye Moxuan. Let’s go get something to eat.” With that, she strode ahead with Yan trotting behind her.

“I don’t care. I have to ask you, and you will provide honest answers. Why are you Young Master Ye’s wife? Why do I have no knowledge of this?” It took Yan an entire night to swallow this piece of information.

Shen Qi’s head hurt at the mention of it as Yan had the uncanny ability to force answers out of her. As such, she helplessly said, “I’m also at a loss myself. It’s a long story, I—”

“Then, cut it short!“ Yan slammed on the table. “Organize your thoughts while you wait here. I’m going to get your meal, and you have to tell me when I get back.”

Yan ran off before Shen Qi had the chance to turn her down. Yan had led Ye Moxuan to her; perhaps she was the one who found out about her disappearance and went to Ye Moxuan for help. Shen Qi understood Yan’s concern for her; however, the matter at hand was just too complicated, and it was hard to relay everything on the spot. “It’s too crowded here, and it’s not the best place to talk about this,” Shen Qi said after giving it some thought. “If some conniving person caught wind of this, things will be…”

Yan seemingly realized something as well, and she nodded in agreement. “True, people are going to swarm you if they know about your identity. Forget it, and just tell me about it another time.”

“Thank you, Yan.”

Yan smiled and waved it off. “You don’t have to because we’re friends.”

“Oh, speaking of that, I think you should keep your distance from Han Xueyou. Did you hear what she told the dude from Zhao Group last night? I’d be inclined to remind you despite the fact that you two are besties, that friend of yours isn’t a goody two shoes. You better be wary of her.”

Shen Qi frowned with discontent upon hearing Yan bad-mouthing Han Xueyou again. “Yan, do you understand that talking behind people’s backs is a vice?”

“I know, but I can’t help myself. I hate the sight of her. The feeling did not vanish after meeting her. Instead, it intensified. Qi, do you know that my instincts are always spot on? Just be careful around Xueyou.”

Shen Qi rose from her seat as she couldn’t stand it any longer. Despite her surprise, Yan quickly held on to Shen Qi. “Okay, I’ll stop. Sigh, I’m just looking out for you, all right? She worked her *ss off last night for the first place, and I was the one who realized you were missing. If it wasn’t for me… Hmph!” Yan said as she chewed on a piece of rib angrily.

Aren’t you the one who pitted that man against me? I just registered a small company using my money, but before the profits returned, your man ruined everything! Now, I’m begging you for forgiveness; can you forgive me just this once for old time’s sake? Or would you rather see my family ruined before feeling satisfied?”

Lin Jiang was extremely agitated, his eyes overflowing with resentment. However, Shen Qi had not a single clue as to what happened. She was able to extract some information from his words, yet they were vague. My man… Who is my man? Did he mean Ye Moxuan? No, Ye Moxuan has never met Lin Jiang, so how would he go after him?

“Stop pretending! It’s the guy who saved you at the entrance of the hospital! Rumor has it that he also gave your mom 300,000, am I right?”

Shen Qi paused before she asked, “What shady things have I done? Come on, give me your list then!” She took a step forward while staring Lin Jiang down with her sharp gaze, and the aura she emanated had changed. She would really like to know since when had she done anything shady.

Lin Jiang was nailed in place by her tremendous aura, and his fear led him to take a step back. “D-Do you think you are all high and mighty now? Your reaction only implies that I hit a sore spot. Shen Qi, I thought you were a pure and innocent lady; I never expected you to be such a shameless b*tch! You don’t only seduce men, you even take their money as your own family’s money! Shen Qi looked into his eyes and iterated her words one-by-one. “You. Deserve. It.”

“You—”

“Don’t come after me, or else… you might plummet faster into your inevitable ruin.”

Shen Qi stood as still as a piece of log, and her heart was numb. However, as she heard what Lin Jiang said, her heart sank with a bad premonition. “What are you scheming about?” she questioned.

Lin Jiang chuckled. “President Ye, can’t you see she’s afraid? She did you wrong, President Ye… As long as you help my company make a comeback, I will reveal her fears to you!”

Shen Qi gave it some thought and raised her head to meet Ye Moxuan’s eyes. “Don’t believe him; what he said isn’t real. He only wants to save his company!”

“Alright,” Ye Moxuan sneered. “Tell me how exactly did she do me wrong.”

Shen Qi’s heart went cold. Is Ye Moxuan… so ready to believe him?

Lin Jiang’s eyes gleamed with a sense of complacency, and he failed to notice the blood-chilling sensation arising in Ye Moxuan’s gaze. He proceeded to speak in an animated fashion. “I was at the hospital with my wife when I saw Shen Qi there as well. I was about to approach her, but not before a guy walked up to her. They were intimate with each other and were obviously a thing. President Ye, this woman had an affair while she was married to me. Now, she probably thought you would be lacking in that sense—seeing that you are on a wheelchair—thus she went and got herself another man!”

Lin Jiang was so pleased about it and blabbered on as if he caught onto the last straw. There was an evil light within his eyes, but he was unaware of the fact that Ye Moxuan had been glaring at him while his aura froze over. “President Ye, I am telling the truth; Shen Qi is an outright whore who has absolutely no shame!“

Shen Qi was totally dumbstruck. She had expected him to reveal that they had never shared a bed, but he instead opted to slander her as a whore. While angered, Shen Qi had also realized just how blind she had been to fall for a man like Lin Jiang. Any favorable opinions she had toward him were basically nonexistent by that point and had taken another plummet into the realm of negativity, while her loathing of him just kept rising. On the other hand, relief washed over her; she was afraid it would raise Ye Moxuan’s suspicion regarding what she had told him about her baby.

“Is that so?” Ye Moxuan snickered, and his smile was rather sinister as he stared at Shen Qi. “Is she truly a whore?”

Lin Jiang nodded. “That’s right, President Ye! She is! Why else would I divorce her?”

Lin Jiang kept on nodding. “Yes, that’s right—” He seemed to have picked up on his error all of a sudden. “No, no, no, President Ye, that wasn’t what I meant! I was warning you against her! Shen Qi is not some nice lady, so you should leave her in search of someone better.”

“And you just said… I’m impotent?” Ye Moxuan seemed to pay no heed to his explanation.

Lin Jiang was totally freaked out. “President Ye, I—”

“Who the hell are you to come in front of President Ye and accuse him of being impotent? Do you think you’ve had enough to live?” Xiao Su asked.

Shen Qi did not anticipate things to go down this lane. She stood still at her position and cast a confused glance at Ye Moxuan.

“President Ye, that’s not what I meant. I’m j-just—”

“You said what you said, didn’t you?” Ye Moxuan sneered in a bloodthirsty manner. “You came all the way to Ye Group to tell me this? It’s pointless. Xiao Su.”

“Yes, sir!” Xiao Su walked to Lin Jiang. “Scram. Our Young Master doesn’t want to see you. Also, you should also give up on your company. If our Young Master ever sees you harassing our Young Lady again, you won’t be having it as easy.”

Lin Jiang was unsatisfied and wanted to beg for more, yet he raised his head to see Ye Moxuan emanating an icy aura, as if a dark fog was wrapped around him. He bit his tongue, nodded in agreement, and stood up to leave. Shen Qi remained at her spot after he left. Ye Moxuan then scolded, “Come over here.”

“You…” Shen Qi glanced at him unconsciously upon hearing him. Why is he behaving like this? Does he not believe in what Lin Jiang said?

“Does your reluctance to move imply you want to follow him?” Ye Moxuan’s tone turned colder. Shen Qi picked up on that and quickly moved toward him. Meanwhile, Xiao Su stepped aside consciously, allowing her the space to push Ye Moxuan from behind.

“So this is the man whom you fought tooth and nail for in order to keep his child; he gladly put you into infamy for his own benefits. Shen Qi, you have exceedingly poor standards regarding your choice of men.”

Shen Qi was speechless for a moment while she forced a smile. “Did you call me over to torment me?”

“And you find that unacceptable?” Ye Moxuan sneered as his gaze turned gloomy. “That man gravely insulted you, and yet you are keeping his child?”

“Can you stop mentioning it? The child is innocent!”

“Innocent?” Ye Moxuan signalled Shen Qi to stop, and she stood there in confusion. “The child is innocent, and you too? I’ve heard about Ye Linhan’s transfer.”

She paused for a moment upon hearing that and looked to the back of Ye Moxuan’s head. “So what? I didn’t force him to do so.”

“Miss Second-marriage, I have to agree that you have your ways to be able to keep my eldest brother under your palm.”

Shen Qi stopped in her tracks, refusing to push him any further.

“Keep pushing,” Ye Moxuan ordered icily. “Hereafter, you shall return to the Ye residence with me everyday after work.”

Shen Qi’s eyes went wide. “What? Together with you? You wouldn’t want me to go to work with you, would you?”

“What’s the problem? We are husband and wife, so what wrong is there with us going to and leaving work together?”

“Of course there is; we work in different departments. I used to take the bus by myself. We should maintain our previous routines.”

“Ha.” Ye Moxuan squinted at her. “You thought I would have you seize an opening to seduce my brother? From tomorrow on, you will resume work in my office.”

“What did you say?” Shen Qi stared at him in disbelief. I will be returning to his office?

“To resume your position as my assistant.”

Shen Qi stared at him for a moment before sneering, “Ye Moxuan, do you think it’s exceedingly fun to toy with me? That I will bend to your every whim? Let me tell you—I’m doing great at my current department, and I won’t be settling into the positions beside either of you two brothers!”

She turned to leave upon saying that, yet Ye Moxuan grasped onto her wrist. “You can choose to not go to Ye Linhan, but you’ve got no right to refuse me. Get in the car.”

“No, I won’t!” Shen Qi struggled in an attempt to withdraw her hand. However, Ye Moxuan had a grip of iron that held onto her like a pair of pliers, effectively preventing her from doing so.

Shen Qi’s face reddened in rage. “Ye Moxuan, let go of me! I have no intention of complying to you. Have I no right to decide on where I will be?”

“Your fate of having to bend to my every whim was decided from the very moment you were married into the Ye Family.” Ye Moxuan gave a hard tug, causing Shen Qi to fall into his embrace while his other hand looped around her waist.

They were still at the entrance of the company, and the other employers bore witness to such a scene. Shen Qi pushed him away out of shock. “Get your hands off me.”

What he said caught Shen Qi off guard, and for a few moments, she could only stare blankly at him. Ye Moxuan then proceeded to push the wheelchair himself. Shen Qi dared not protest against any of it because she was afraid that he would kiss her in front of everyone.

In the end, she got forced into the car by Ye Moxuan. She didn’t dare to lift her head throughout the whole ordeal; instead, she buried her face in Ye Moxuan’s chest before finally pushing him away forcefully once they got into the car.

“Why did you do that?” Shen Qi fell onto the car seat as she sent Ye Moxuan a dissatisfied look. “Didn’t you tell me I would only be your subordinate while we were outside? So what are you doing?” You set me onto your lap brazenly, brought me into your car, and from now on, you’re forcing me to go in and out of the office with you.

“Don’t you get what I’m trying to do?” Ye Moxuan returned the question.

Shen Qi was terrified by his intense gaze. Thus she chose to avoid it while her voice lowered in volume. “How would I know?”

“Alright.” Ye Moxuan held her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. Shen Qi struggled to look away, but in the end, he was still holding onto her chin. He exerted too much force, and it made her grimace in pain.

“Ye Moxuan, you’d better let go!”

“I’ll tell you what I intend to do.” Ye Moxuan’s gaze was a scorching fire; it left a brand on her face, burning it away inch by inch. “I will make the fact that you are my woman public; nobody is to have second thoughts over you, Ye Linhan included. If… he is to transfer you or approach you, he will essentially be undermining me.”

Ye Moxuan’s gaze burned with hatred as he reached this point. “He is just the same as that woman. The grass is always greener on the other side, and they would snatch it over with any means possible. Miss Second-marriage, I’m warning you; if you dare initiate anything between Ye Linhan and yourself, I promise… I won’t let you off the hook. Do you understand?”

And how could she not? She resumed to push his hand away while complaining, “Why did you involve me in your sibling rivalry? Let me go!”

“Who told you to be involved with others after being involved with me?” He latched onto her wrist and refused to budge an inch. It hurt, so Shen Qi ceased struggling. They were in the car now anyway, and nobody would notice no matter how intimate it got, so she just let him be.

He seemed to deem it boring as soon as she calmed down, so he loosened his grip on her wrist while his body started leaning toward her, making her recoil in shock. Just when she was about to push him away, Ye Moxuan rested his head on her shoulder.

“What now?” His actions were truly unpredictable, and they came to Shen Qi as a grave shock.

“Lend me your shoulder for a bit.” Ye Moxuan sounded tired, and there were heavy bags under his eyes. This woman had stirred up his desires last night and fled to spend the rest of the night in another room, leaving him alone in his wake.

Shen Qi froze. When she came to, Ye Moxuan had already put his entire weight on her shoulder, forcing her to lean back on the soft cushions. “You… ”

She found it heavy and unconsciously wanted to push him away, but Ye Moxuan pressed down on her hand and spoke in a raspy voice. “You’d better stop that. Don’t forget how I served you last night.”

Served? Shen Qi immediately thought of something inappropriate upon hearing the term, and her face reddened. “Don’t speak nonsense. Last night—”

“Are you denying it?” Ye Moxuan’s tone hardened, obviously unhappy about it.

Shen Qi opened her mouth in an attempt to argue, but she then opted to remain silent after some thought. He did help her out last night; he didn’t do anything to her during that crucial moment, and he called his aunt in instead… Shen Qi couldn’t bring herself to refute him anymore just by the thought of this. He could do as he pleases. Letting him lean on me wouldn’t kill me, anyway.

Shen Qi quieted down as soon as she thought it through, and then she turned to look at the retreating buildings and trees outside of the car window. She began recalling several fleeting moments from last night, when Ye Moxuan had retreated himself just as he was about to enter her and didn’t make any more moves on her no matter how she ached for his touch.

Why was that? All of a sudden, Shen Qi wanted to know the answer, so she enquired in a low voice, “Ye Moxuan, you— ”

Ye Moxuan’s breathing was sound and even; he was apparently in a deep slumber while leaning on her shoulder. Hence, Shen Qi swallowed her words and resumed her stare at the scenery outside in silence. Xiao Su drove steadily, and Shen Qi slowly started nodding off before eventually succumbing to sleep.

Her slumber lasted for some time, and she woke up only to realize she was already back at the Ye residence. She was sprawled atop the huge bed owned by Ye Moxuan and could easily see the mattress she laid out by the bed upon flipping herself over.

Shen Qi’s brain managed to resume its cognitive operation after a good ten seconds. She then sat up slowly to observe the mattress she had laid out. It came as a surprise that she was on the bed, seeing that she was asleep in Ye Moxuan’s car not so long ago. Why did I wake up to find myself here? Who moved me onto the bed?

Logically speaking, even if Ye Moxuan were able to support my weight, wouldn’t it be a bit too taxing for him to move me onto the bed? Or did he ask Xiao Su for help? Whatever. What’s the point in mulling over this, anyway? She halted her line of thought and lifted the blanket to get out of bed before she went for a wash up before having dinner.

At night, Shen Qi was heading toward her spot on the floor, ready to go to bed, but Ye Moxuan suddenly looped his arm around her waist. “Get someone to take those away by tomorrow. You can only sleep with me from this point onward.”

Shen Qi’s expression contorted. “Ye Moxuan, how dare you take my stuff away! Didn’t we agree on sleeping separately?”

“As I had said, I want everybody to know you are my woman, and nobody is to lay a finger on you. So why should we sleep separately?” Ye Moxuan spoke with a fierceness to his tone, its underlying dominance making her shudder.

“We are at home, so nobody is here to witness it!”

“So what?” Ye Moxuan held onto her waist. “As long as I desire so, where it happens doesn’t matter.” He shoved her onto the bed with a steadfast push of his arm. Shen Qi was donned in a knee-length nightdress, which flipped over due to the sudden motion, revealing the bottom half of her body. She shrieked in astonishment while quickly pulling it down.

However, what happened did not escape Ye Moxuan’s sight, and it disrupted the calmness within his deep gaze. He flipped himself onto the bed with a stretch of his arm, his exaggerated motion catching Shen Qi off guard. He was already pressing on top of her before she had time to react. “Doraemon? Are you that childish, Miss Second-marriage? Or is it a deliberate act of seduction?”

Shen Qi stifled a breath, and her heartbeat nearly came to a stop.
