When Ye Moxuan looked up and saw her exposed chest, his eyes turned cold.

Is this woman doing this on purpose?

Lu Xunchang narrowed his slender and sharp eyes. “You know who I am?”

Suddenly, Lu Xunchang moved to lean against the window of the car to stare at her. “Oh, is that so? Are you crying?”

“You!” Shen Qi bit her bottom lip. “You’re despicable!”

“Then think about it. Do you want to go for dinner with despicable old me?”

“Never!”

“Since you’re unwilling, then I’ll have to resort to—”

Before Lu Xunchang could finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a fierce kick to his calf. Surprised, he fell on one knee in front of Shen Qi.

Shen Qi stared at him with wide eyes, covering her mouth in disbelief.

“You’re giving such a deep bow to her; is it because you want to form a partnership with my assistant?”

That cold and familiar voice rang out, and Shen Qi looked toward the source of that voice in surprise.

Ye Moxuan, who had taken his leave earlier, had returned at some point during her conversation with Lu Xunchang. He was currently sitting on a wheelchair, staring at the half-kneeling Lu Xunchang with a calm and cold gaze. Xiao Su was standing behind him, wearing the same expression on his face and was glaring at Lu Xunchang angrily.

Why are they back?

Hadn’t they… left?

Ye Moxuan’s lips curled into a bloodthirsty smile, thereupon he sneered at Lu Xunchang. “What a shame though, for even if you were to get on your knees and beg my assistant, I certainly have no intention to collaborate with your horrible, low-class company.”

Thud! Thud! Thud! Those words pounded against Shen Qi’s heart heavily like the ringing of a bell.

Even though Ye Moxuan seemed like a heartless person, his actions proved otherwise, as whatever he did was all to protect her.

At least, that was what it looked like to people who watched from the sidelines.

He was defending her!

Shen Qi didn’t know why, but her tears that had dried up earlier began to fall once more, and her nose became itchy.

Throughout her entire life, nobody had ever stood up for her repeatedly, time and time again, like Ye Moxuan had.

The moment Lu Xunchang fell to his knees and heard Ye Moxuan’s mockery, he was livid. When he tried to pick himself up, he found that he wasn’t able to; his calf had been struck with so much force that it hurt too much for him to get up.

Lu Xunchang did not know exactly who was the one who had kicked him. Since Ye Moxuan was sitting in a wheelchair, he chalked it up to Xiao Su and regarded him as the one who had kicked him.

It took a while for Lu Xunchang to get back on his feet, and when he finally did, he grimaced and wiped away the cold sweat that had formed on his forehead. “How impulsive and stubborn you are, Young Master Ye! This partnership is very important, so I’m not sure if Old Master Ye will allow you to do as you wish.”

A sudden coldness flashed in Ye Moxuan’s eyes. “We’ll see about that.”

“Pfft, hitting me for the sake of your assistant? I’ll be waiting for you to come and beg me, Ye Moxuan.”

Lu Xunchang fixed an angry stare on him before he limped away to his car and left.

Shen Qi stood in place, her mind struggling to process what had just happened. She hadn’t expected that they would actually return after leaving.

Xiao Su then pushed Ye Moxuan away, while Shen Qi continued to stand there without moving. A while later, Xiao Su suddenly stopped and Ye Moxuan called out to Shen Qi in a voice that sounded as though it originated from the depths of hell.

At that, Shen Qi immediately regained her senses and hurried to follow after them.

Once they got into the car, Shen Qi felt as though she had done something wrong, so she could only lower her head.

The temperature in the car felt as cold as Antarctica, and none of the people in the vehicle dared to say anything at all; that included both the driver and Xiao Su, who tried their best to ignore the situation.

Shen Qi bit her bottom lip. Cold sweat began to pour from her forehead as she mumbled, “I…”

Ye Moxuan’s lips were dry and cold, and there wasn’t a single shred of warmth as he rubbed his lips against Shen Qi’s soft ones with force.

A long time had passed, yet Shen Qi did not come back to her senses. She hadn’t expected that she would be kissed by Ye Moxuan.

Ye Moxuan’s hand was placed behind her head, and he kept moving, wanting her to reciprocate the kiss. She could taste anger in his kiss as it felt rough on her lips.

Ever since Ms. Jing had helped Shen Qi apply that peach-colored lipstick on her plump lips, and after Shen Qi had bitten down on her lips in front of him, Ye Moxuan had felt a desire to kiss those luscious red lips. Even when she got into his car, Ye Moxuan had a hard time resisting the temptation that was Shen Qi. It was like that up until the moment he saw Lu Xunchang pull her close to him.

Ye Moxuan was provoked at that sight.

Ye Moxuan wanted to kiss her to vent some of his anger. In a daze, Shen Qi just sat there and allowed him to keep kissing her, while staring at him incredulously with wide eyes.

Ye Moxuan grew more and more angry at how she did not reciprocate his kiss; it was as if she did not feel anything at all.

Ye Moxuan’s other hand snaked around her waist and he half-dragged, half-pulled her into his lap. Being small and petite, Shen Qi was easily dragged over onto his lap. Her body went into his arms and she reflexively hooked her arms around his neck.

Shen Qi’s body was sprawled all over Ye Moxuan, and her position made it even easier for him to access her lips.

Both the driver and Xiao Su witnessed everything that was happening; they could distinctively feel that the temperature in the car was a lot warmer compared to the frostiness from before, and the temperature continued to rise steadily.

Xiao Su had never expected that he would actually witness Ye Moxuan behave in such a manner.

Before Shen Qi could recover from her initial shock, she found herself trapped in Ye Moxuan’s deep and intense kiss; she even unconsciously wrapped her arms around his neck. She was kissed so passionately by Ye Moxuan that she had forgotten how to breathe and before long, she was panting, her body limp as she lay in his arms weakly.

When Ye Moxuan noticed that, his gaze darkened considerably.

Just as Shen Qi was about to pull away from his embrace, Ye Moxuan held onto her chin with his hand.

“Why are you resisting? Were you not enjoying it?”

His kiss was passionate and hot, but his tone was still icy cold. Slowly, Shen Qi came back to her senses. Only when she met Ye Moxuan’s dark gaze did she realize just how she had reacted to him. “I—”

Suddenly, Ye Moxuan moved in close to her ear, whispering seductively, “Do you want more?”

When she thought about what he had said before he kissed her, Shen Qi’s face paled considerably and she bit her lips hard without a word.

“Missy, your reaction tells me that you’re actually rather satisfied with it.” The hand that Ye Moxuan had placed on Shen Qi’s waist began to move upward in search of new territory. At that, her indignation grew and she yelled, “Let go of me!”

At once, Ye Moxuan halted his advances. He then narrowed his eyes, a dangerous gleam evident in them.

“What? Were you not happy when Lu Xunchang hugged you earlier?”

Shen Qi continued to bite her lower lip. “When exactly did you see me being happy?! Did you not see that I was being forced?! Ye Moxuan, will you only feel a sense of satisfaction after crushing someone else’s self-esteem?!”

The expression on Ye Moxuan’s face grew frosty as he fixed a cold glare on her.

“Keep in mind that even if I am unwilling to touch you, I have left my mark on your body; no other man is allowed to touch you in any way!”

Shen Qi was silent.

“Next time, if I catch you in close contact with another man, just know that it won’t only be your self-esteem and dignity that will be stepped on by me.”

After he said that, Ye Moxuan released her, and his thin lips were pursed. “Leave.”

Shen Qi was still sitting in his lap. Her lips trembled and her face paled when she heard him tell her to leave.

“Don’t forget your place.” He dropped yet another warning to her.

Finally, Shen Qi lowered her gaze and calmly returned to her seat without another word.

After she returned to her seat, Shen Qi stayed silent and kept her head turned toward the window, ignoring Ye Moxuan’s existence. But, it was clear that her spirits were much lower compared to before.

When they returned to the Ye residence, Xiao Su wheeled Ye Moxuan into the house while Shen Qi followed after them with her gaze on the floor.

Ye Moxuan went to his study instead of his bedroom. As for Shen Qi, she went into her bedroom and took a shower. Ye Moxuan hadn’t retired for the night even after she was done with her bath, so she promptly crawled under the covers and slept.

Just as she had settled in and made herself comfortable on the floor, her phone vibrated.

Shen Qi glanced at her phone and saw that it was Lin Jiang who had texted her. ‘Qi, have you slept?’

When she saw his text message, Shen Qi instantly frowned. He hadn’t spoken to her ever since their divorce and tonight at the mall was the first time she had seen him since then.

When Shen Qi recalled what he had done at the mall, she shut her eyes and put her phone down without replying to him.

After a short while, her phone vibrated again. ‘Qi, I didn’t mean to leave you by yourself just now, but the baby is due any moment so the only thing I could do was to listen to my wife. It would be bad if we did anything rash and hurt the baby. You understand the position that I’m in, right?’

What was there to understand? In the past, Shen Qi had thought that Lin Jiang was a pretty decent man. However, she felt that he had become quite a strange person indeed. He had found another woman and thrown her out of his home, yet he had the audacity to ask for her understanding?

Lin Jiang then sent another text. ‘Can we meet up tomorrow?’

Ye Moxuan frowned and said in a low voice, “Will you please be a bit more quiet when you walk?”

“Huh?” Xiao Su turned around and shot him a bewildered look. He was quite surprised, so his voice was very loud.

Ye Moxuan’s expression changed and he fixed an intense glare on him. “Do you want to die?”

His voice was very soft.

Xiao Su was so frightened by how cold Ye Moxuan’s voice was that he didn’t know how to react. He looked around the room and when he finally saw how Shen Qi had curled into a ball and was fast asleep, he came to his senses.

Could it be that my voice was too loud? Is that the reason why Young Master Ye is angry with me?

When he lightened his footsteps, Ye Moxuan no longer scolded him, and Xiao Su finally heaved a sigh of relief.

As he was cleaning him up, Xiao Su couldn’t help but ask, “Young Master Ye… both you and Miss Shen Qi…”

“What are you thinking?”

“N-Nothing. I just wanted to say that Miss Shen Qi is currently pregnant, so wouldn’t it be bad for her to sleep on the floor?”

That night, Shen Qi dreamt.

She dreamt about the night from more than a month ago. The man fiercely held onto her waist tightly while kissing her violently. His breaths were hot and passionate, and low and husky moans filled the air.

Shen Qi tossed and turned, kicking off the blanket because it was too hot before opening her eyes.

The sun was already up; the room was filled with rays of sunlight that shone in through the window while a gentle morning breeze rustled the air.

In a daze, Shen Qi sat up and stayed there as her brain began to process her dream.

Such a long period of time had already passed; why was she dreaming about that man again?

In her dream, that man was as domineering as ever.

However, his voice had already begun to fade somewhat.

Beads of sweat dotted Shen Qi’s forehead and her throat felt itchy. Covering her mouth with her hand, she coughed a couple of times to clear her throat. It was at that moment that she suddenly recalled something, and she turned to look at the bed that was located not too far from where she sat.

Ye Moxuan was still sleeping. Shen Qi was afraid of waking him up so she suppressed her coughs, but the discomfort in her throat was just too hard to bear. The only thing she could do was get up and take refuge in the bathroom.

After she hid in the bathroom and coughed her lungs out for a long while, she finally squeezed out some toothpaste to brush her teeth.

As a light-sleeper, Ye Moxuan had already woken up when Shen Qi turned over, yet he did not open his eyes.

A short while later, Ye Moxuan heard the faint sound of a cough before it was suppressed hastily. Then, he heard the shuffling of feet as she made her way to the bathroom.

This made Ye Moxuan recall what Xiao Su had said to him last night. Now that Miss Shen Qi is pregnant, would it be bad if she were to continue sleeping on the floor?

Even though it was not yet winter, it was gradually transitioning into autumn and only a thin futon was laid out on the floor. Moreover, she was a woman, so it certainly would be bad for her health in the long run if she were to continue sleeping on the floor.

So it seemed that that woman still had a measure of self-awareness, and she knew that she had woken him up.

Shen Qi did not have the habit of wearing undergarments to sleep at night. However, she would put them on as part of her morning routine in the bathroom. But because of her bout of coughing, she had forgotten about it.

Suppressing his rage, Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrow and asked, “Are you deaf?”

Resigned, Shen Qi could only walk in his direction, but each step she took felt like she was stepping on the sharp edges of knives. She felt so awkward that she couldn’t look Ye Moxuan in the eye.

When she finally arrived before Ye Moxuan, Shen Qi could not stand straight and had almost squatted down in embarrassment.

Ye Moxuan narrowed his eyes, then raised his hand to pull her close to him, but that action scared Shen Qi so much that she hunched over in surprise.

As Ye Moxuan’s hands hung in mid-air, the temperature around them dropped to sub zero degrees.

Ye Moxuan frowned and asked, “Just what are you doing?”

Shen Qi continued to squat there without moving.

“Well?”

“M-My stomach hurts.” Finally, Shen Qi managed to form a crappy excuse, and she was determined not to stand up again no matter what.

Ye Moxuan’s frown deepened. “Your stomach hurts?”

He again recalled what Xiao Su had told him yesterday, and he thought about the possibility that the reason why her stomach hurt was because she had caught a cold.

When he thought of that possibility, Ye Moxuan began to worry.

He did not say anything in reply, and Shen Qi continued to squat down.

Time passed, but both of them continued to maintain their positions.

Ye Moxuan was suffering from a disability, so without Xiao Su to help him up, he could only remain seated on his bed. As for Shen Qi, she didn’t dare to move an inch, hence the both of them continued to stay there unmoving.

They didn’t know how much time had passed and Shen Qi’s legs were starting to cramp, yet she continued to stare at Ye Moxuan blankly.

But he was not moving, so she didn’t dare to move.

“What are you looking at me for? Don’t expect me to help you up.”

When she heard what he said, Shen Qi abruptly came back to her senses.

That was right. Ye Moxuan was disabled, so he had no means of getting up by himself. Then, Shen Qi’s lips quivered in response. “W-What did you call me over for?”

“Won’t you say something?”

“Help me bring my wheelchair over.”

His gaze fell on the wheelchair that was located not too far away. At that, Shen Qi finally realized that he wanted his wheelchair. Picking herself up slowly, she said, “Just a second.”

After that, she went and wheeled his wheelchair over to him.

“Help me up.” Ye Moxuan then raised his eyes to look at her face and asked, “Will you be able to do it?”

When she looked at the distance between the bed and the wheelchair, Shen Qi nodded and stammered out, “I think… I should be able to?”

She had no choice; the only thing that she could do was to help him.

“I have no strength in my legs, so squat down and lend me your shoulder.”

“Okay.” Shen Qi did not have anything against the method Ye Moxuan suggested and immediately bent over and squatted down.

Ye Moxuan placed his hand on her shoulder for support. He was 185 centimeters tall, while Shen Qi’s frame was petite and she was just shy of 165 centimeters tall. Therefore, when Ye Moxuan’s additional weight was added onto her shoulders, she could not summon any strength to stand up again.

Fortunately, she had braced herself in advance, and her face was red with exertion as she supported him.

“Are you alright?” Once she stabilized herself, Shen Qi asked him nervously.

Ye Moxuan had never been treated in such a careless manner before in his entire life, and his facial expression was livid. “What do you think?”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.” Shen Qi could only apologize to him. “Fortunately, you didn’t fall onto the ground. Here, I’ll help you up.”

Ye Moxuan pursed his lips and didn’t reply as he slowly got into his wheelchair with Shen Qi’s help.

Although the process was torturous, once Shen Qi saw that he was seated on his wheelchair, she released a sigh of relief and a sense of accomplishment washed over her. Just as she reached out to wipe away the sweat on her forehead, her wrist was caught in Ye Moxuan’s grip.

Startled, Shen Qi stared at him with wide eyes.

“W-What are you doing?”

Ye Moxuan’s eyes narrowed, traces of evil gleaming in his eyes. “You really have an… interesting way of seducing people. I seem to have underestimated you.”

“What? Since when did I—”

Before she could continue, Ye Moxuan tugged her hand with greater force and Shen Qi fell into his embrace. He then grabbed her by her chin and said to her, “How interesting. I know that we aren’t intimate with each other, but I can’t help but be curious to know why your ex-husband divorced you even though you are such a seductress.”

As those embarrassing words fell upon Shen Qi’s ears, her face paled and she bit her lip. “I have never seduced you before.”

“You’re still denying it?” Ye Moxuan sneered at her. “How stubborn.”

“I have never done anything of the sort!” Shen Qi stared at him adamantly. “Ye Moxuan, you keep on going on and on about how I’m the one who is seducing you! Since when have I ever seduced you?! Am I really the one who is seducing you, or are you the one who has lost self-control and just acts on your desires whenever you see me?!”

Ye Moxuan said, “I never realized that you were such a witty person.”

He increased the strength in his grip and Shen Qi cried out in pain as she frowned, “Let go of me!”

“Let go of you? Is this not what you wanted? You aren’t wearing your undergarments in the early morning and even purposely came to support me with your body…” Ye Moxuan moved in close to her ear and breathed on it. His hot breath scalded her neck, and Shen Qi couldn’t help but tremble in response.

“Y-You’re just spouting nonsense!”

The blush faded from Shen Qi’s face when she suddenly recalled something.

Her body had been seen by him and after that, she was afraid that he would fall from his bed, so she rushed forward to grab him by his shoulders. At that time, both of their bodies were pasted close to each other, hence Ye Moxuan probably felt her chest against his back.

“Ha.” Ye Moxuan sneered at her and said, “I’m not spouting nonsense, and your body knows that very clearly.”

After he said that, Ye Moxuan pushed her away, making Shen Qi stagger and almost fall to the floor. She then turned around and threw a hateful look toward the conceited man who was sat upon his wheelchair. Suppressing her indignance, she narrowed her eyes at him before she turned around and walked away.

She picked up her clothes and proceeded to put them on in the bathroom. By the time she was done, Ye Moxuan was no longer in the room.

Shen Qi looked down and stared at her soiled shirt. Milk was still dripping from it, and there were broken shards, eggs and milk on the floor.

Everything looked messy and pathetic just like her.

“What are you doing?” A puzzled voice rang out.

When the maid, who was acting high and mighty, heard that voice, her expression changed immediately and she stepped to the side.

Holding a briefcase in his hand, Ye Linhan walked toward them, looking perplexed. When he noticed Shen Qi sitting there with a droopy head, covered in milk, his face became sullen.

“Shen Qi?”

The maid looked flustered, and she didn’t dare to make a sound.

Why is Young Master Linhan up so early today? He usually comes at seven o’clock on the dot.

What should I do since Young Master Linhan has seen this?

“Come. Stand up and go change your clothes.”

His blazer was quite warm. After a brief pause, Shen Qi raised her head slowly and met Ye Linhan’s gentle eyes which were looking at her tenderly.

Those eyes… Shen Qi paused for a while before slowly standing up with his support.

“Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. You should hurry up and change your clothes.”

“Young Master Linhan, she really spilled it on herself accidentally. I have nothing to do with this!” The maid was still trying to cover up her wrongdoings.

Ye Linhan turned abruptly and looked at her with exasperation. “I witnessed with my own eyes how you bullied her the last time. And you dare repeat it this time? Didn’t I warn you before? If you really hate being in the Ye Family, you can pack your things and leave today.”
