His voice suddenly became stern, causing Shen Qi to jump in shock. Gripping her towel, she slowly walked toward Ye Moxuan.

While she was still a distance away from Ye Moxuan, Shen Qi stopped.

She then bit her lower lip. “Do you need anything?”

“Help me onto the bed,” Ye Moxuan commanded in a cold voice, his eyes emotionless.

Shen Qi was relieved. It turned out that he only wanted her to help him onto the bed, which was not a big deal. However, there was only a towel wrapped around her, and it could easily slide down if she wasn’t careful enough. Therefore, Shen Qi could only plead, “Can I change into my clothes before helping you? I forgot to bring my clothes in just now…”

Ye Moxuan didn’t say anything and continued to stare at her.

Shen Qi gripped the corner of her towel and continued speaking while biting her lower lip, “It won’t take long. I just need a second.”

He remained silent. Shen Qi knew that she could not help him in just a towel, so since he didn’t say anything, she stepped back slowly. When she noticed that Ye Moxuan didn’t move, she quickly turned and ran to the bed. After grabbing the clothes that she prepared earlier, she dashed into the bathroom.

A few seconds later, she emerged with a messily worn gown; one of her snow-white shoulders was even exposed when she got out. While pulling at her gown, she walked toward Ye Moxuan, and when she finally stopped in front of him, her gown was already nicely worn.

The whole process didn’t even take a minute.

So she was indeed fast.

The only thing was, her hair was messy.

Ye Moxuan narrowed his eyes at the woman in front of him. Barefoot, she was wearing a light blue sleeping gown of mediocre quality. The gown was probably quite worn because the fabric was slightly damaged and its color had faded. It was completely incompatible with her fair, delicate skin.

And it somehow diminished her temperament.

Furrowing his eyebrows, Ye Moxuan stared at her in displeasure.

Noticing his gaze, Shen Qi looked down at her gown and figured out what he was looking at. She was slightly embarrassed, causing her face to blush. Pursing her lips, she mustered up the courage to speak, “I’m done. Let me help you onto the bed to rest.”

As she was speaking, she stepped forward and pushed Ye Moxuan to his bedside.

After Ye Moxuan got onto his bed, he looked at her in disdain before moving his thin lips. “Open the drawer of the bedside cabinet.”

“What?” Shen Qi couldn’t understand at first but she quickly nodded the next second. She crouched to open the drawer of the bedside cabinet while asking, “Young Master Ye, are you looking for something?”

She was used to addressing him as Young Master Ye in the office, so she always called him by that name.

The drawer was very neat. Only a few books, cards and watches were placed inside.

“There’s a card at page 205 of the second book. Take it out.”

“Alright.”

Shen Qi didn’t ask further and followed his instructions. After taking out the second book, she flipped to page 205. While flipping to that page, she inwardly exclaimed in surprise that he could remember the page so clearly.

This showed that he was a person with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

“Found it.” When Shen Qi saw the card, she took it out and handed it to Ye Moxuan.

But Ye Moxuan didn’t take it. Instead, he stared at her with his dark eyes, unblinking.

“Young Master Ye?”

“It’s for you.”

Perplexed, Shen Qi glanced at the card in her hand again.

It was a bank card.

“For me?”

She thought that he was looking for some name cards, but surprisingly, it was a bank card.

But why did he give her a bank card?

“Young Master Ye?” Shen Qi couldn’t make any sense out of it, so she gripped the bank card in her hand and looked at him for answers.

Ye Moxuan gave her a mocking smile. “As the Second Young Lady of the Ye Family, you’d better wear some decent clothes. There’s money in that card. Do you understand what I mean?”

As soon as he finished his sentence, Shen Qi’s face instantly became pale, and she bit her lower lip.

“Are you looking down upon me for dressing indecently?”

“Unless you think your clothes are decent?” Ye Moxuan looked at her faded sleeping gown while speaking in a disrespectful tone.

Shen Qi was consumed with embarrassment, and she almost bit through the flesh of her lower lip as she gripped the bank card tighter. “This isn’t necessary. I’m working at the company now. As long as I get my salary on time every month, I’ll have money to buy my own clothes. Hence, I don’t need your money at all.”

After that, Shen Qi placed the bank card back on the bedside cabinet.

“Just take it.” Ye Moxuan stared at her, unmoving. “After all, you don’t have money now, right?”

Shen Qi finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Yes! I don’t have money now. But so what? I didn’t steal or rob the clothes I’m wearing. They’re just kind of old! Do you have to keep mocking me about it?”

“Hmph! Your outburst proves my point.”

“Ye Moxuan, don’t cross the line!” Shen Qi clenched her fists, her beautiful eyes burning with rage.

Once she got mad, that tranquil pool of water inside her rippled, making her look livelier, gorgeous even.

Crossing his arms, Ye Moxuan smirked at her.

“So what if I crossed the line? Am I not telling the truth? Although you’re not the real Young Lady, you’re still my assistant. The way you dress is a disgrace to Ye Group.”

“If I’m such a disgrace, why don’t you talk to Old Master Ye and tell him you don’t want me to be your assistant?” Shen Qi’s face went ashen, but she stubbornly glared at Ye Moxuan.

“Pfft.” Ye Moxuan sneered in contempt. “I didn’t even refuse the marriage. Do you think I would tell him that?”

Indeed. He even accepted the woman Old Master Ye gave him; he could care less about her being his assistant. Or, perhaps he knew something?

Upon thinking of that, Shen Qi stared at him and asked, “Will you agree to any of Old Master Ye’s requests?”

“Why? Are you trying to get answers from me for Old Master Ye?”

Upon hearing that, Shen Qi’s expression changed instantly and she shook her head. “No.”

“Take the card and leave.” Ye Moxuan’s face became cold, his dismissal obvious.

The topic was back to square one, and Shen Qi said angrily, “I will not take your money.”

After that, Shen Qi turned and walked to her bed.

Looking at her resolute figure, Ye Moxuan suddenly smiled. “Are you scared that the limit is too low, and so you don’t want it? If that’s the case, let me tell you clearly that there is 10 million in the card; it’s sufficient for your expenses.”

Shen Qi stopped abruptly.

Ye Moxuan squinted. Is she tempted now that she knows that there’s 10 million in it?

Shen Qi turned to look at him and spoke through gritted teeth, “It’s only 10 million. How is that sufficient for me? That little amount is nothing to me!”

Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrow. “Oh, really?”

“Therefore, don’t ever use that card to brush me off in the future. I don’t need it!” After Shen Qi said that, she turned her back on him and quickly went back to her bed.

That man is truly a b*stard!

She gripped her clothes angrily, whereupon she could feel the roughness of the fabric. Looking down at her clothes, she felt even more embarrassed.

The Ye Family was a distinguished family, and they lived among the upper class society. In their eyes, the people who were living at the bottom society were like a joke to them.

Shen Qi lay on her bed and grabbed her phone to glance at the time.

It was almost time for Ye Moxuan to fall asleep; all she needed was to wait a little longer.

However, Shen Qi was probably tired from being angry because she ended up falling asleep instead. When she woke up, it was already the next morning and Ye Moxuan’s bed was empty. She then grabbed her phone and checked the time, realizing that it was almost time for work.

At this moment, Shen Qi suddenly remembered the button and hurriedly got out of bed. Then, she got on the ground next to Ye Moxuan’s bedside.

Luckily for her, the exquisite-looking button was still lying there under the bed.

Shen Qi reached out to grab the button, but it was too far away from her. Her fingertips barely grazed it, thereupon she accidentally pushed it further away.

When Shen Qi saw the button roll further and further away from her, she sighed in dismay.

She was already at her limit and couldn’t reach out any further.

Then, Shen Qi got up and walked to the other side to see if she could reach it from there. However, it was even further from there.

“What are you doing?” A cold voice suddenly rang out.

Shen Qi was so startled her soul almost left her body.

That is Ye Moxuan’s voice. Shouldn’t he be at work right now? Why did he suddenly come back? Shen Qi lay on the ground not moving because she didn’t know how to react. What if Ye Moxuan found out after she got up?

However, staying still made her even more suspicious, and Ye Moxuan squinted his eyes as he wheeled his wheelchair toward her. Just as he reached her side, Shen Qi got up, with an earring in her hand.

“I dropped my earring near your bed, so I was looking for it.”

Ye Moxuan then turned to focus his gaze on the shiny earring in her hand before he said, “You look nervous.”

When Shen Qi heard what he said, she held her breath and answered, “No, I’m not.”

“You aren’t?” Ye Moxuan raised an eyebrow and continued to wheel the wheelchair closer to her, his strong masculine aura slowly approaching her. “Then, why are you looking around? And why is your forehead covered in sweat?”

Shen Qi hurriedly took a step back to escape the bubble of Ye Moxuan’s masculine aura. “I was just looking for my earring. Since the weather is pretty hot today, and I was looking for my earring for a very long time, it’s natural that I’m sweaty.”

With that, Shen Qi turned around and walked toward the shower; it was time for her to get cleaned up for work.

The reason she was not worried that Ye Moxuan would notice was because he was on a wheelchair; he wouldn’t be able to see what was under the bed unless somebody helped him. Therefore, the button should be safe there.

That was why she had the peace of mind to go to work.

Before Shen Qi went to work, Old Master Ye called her to his study to remind her to empty her schedule and head to the Lu Group to discuss the business collaboration with Lu Xunchang; he even told her not to tell Ye Moxuan about it.

Shen Qi’s head throbbed as she arrived at the company.

She was having a hard time being the middle person for Old Master Ye and his grandson; both of them had very different opinions and she didn’t know what to do.

However, she didn’t dare disobey Old Master Ye’s orders.

After some hesitation, Shen Qi got up and left the office, then hailed a taxi and said to the driver, “Hello, please send me to this address…”

Shen Qi told the driver the address of the Lu Group she found online.

After Shen Qi arrived at the Lu Group, she walked straight to the front desk, and it was only then did she realize that she hadn’t made an appointment.

“I’m sorry, Miss. There is no way you can meet President Lu without an appointment. Is there anything else that I can help you with?” the receptionist asked as she stared at her suspiciously, eyes focusing on her clothes.

Shen Qi’s face turned red from her stare and she recalled what Ye Moxuan said last night as well as what happened the day she first entered Ye Group.

I guess I should really go and buy some new clothes.

“I’ll make an appointment and come back later this afternoon.”

With that, Shen Qi left the Lu Group. In fact, she hadn’t requested for leave from Ye Moxuan when she left the office earlier. For the past two days, he had treated her as if she was invisible; he didn’t need her help at all. Besides, Old Master Ye had told her not to let Ye Moxuan find out about their business with the Lu Group, hence she kept it from him.

Shen Qi sneaked back to her post and sat there, whereupon she let out a sigh of relief when nothing happened after some time had passed.

After Shen Qi calmed down, she made a phone call to the Lu Group. However, just after she told them her identity and the purpose of the meeting, the person on the other side of the phone immediately hung up. Startled, Shen Qi made the call again.

This time, the person on the other side of the phone sounded unfriendly and threatened, “Miss, if you make another call and disturb us, don’t blame me for calling the cops.”

With that, the person hung up the phone.

Shen Qi helplessly put down the phone.

The person on the phone sounded firm; it was probably Lu Xunchang who had given him the order to do so.

It seems like I can’t make an appointment. All I can do is pass the message to Old Master Ye after work.

When it was almost time to get off work, Han Xueyou called Shen Qi and asked her to meet, to which the latter agreed.

After Shen Qi tidied her desk and walked to the elevator, she bumped into Xiao Su who was pushing Ye Moxuan out from the office. When Shen Qi saw him, she immediately looked away guiltily.

Ye Moxuan hasn’t been paying attention to me lately, so he probably doesn’t know that I went out this morning, right?

“Assistant Shen.”

Xiao Su naturally changed the way he greeted her from Miss Shen to Assistant Shen.

Shen Qi was grateful toward Xiao Su. After all, it was he who had moved a small bed into their room, saving her a lot of trouble.

Which was why when Shen Qi looked at Xiao Su, a warm smile naturally appeared on her face and she gave him a nod.

However, to Ye Moxuan, her smile was so bright he was blinded by it. As such, he couldn’t help but frown.

Having worked for Ye Moxuan for a long time, Xiao Su could instantly understand what Ye Moxuan wanted with just some simple instructions. At that moment, Ye Moxuan emitted a cold aura which Xiao Su immediately noticed.

Young Master Ye has been acting rather odd lately.

Ding! The elevator arrived, but Shen Qi stood still even after Ye Moxuan and Xiao Su had entered the elevator.

“Assistant Shen, aren’t you coming in?” Xiao Su couldn’t help but ask.

Shen Qi immediately came back to her senses, thereafter she smiled and said, “I think I forgot to turn off my computer. I’ll go check it again right now. The both of you can leave first.”

With that, Shen Qi turned to leave, but Ye Moxuan suddenly opened his mouth and said, “Come in.”

Shen Qi froze before she turned around to look at him. “Young Master Ye, my computer—”

“Your computer is already turned off.”

“How do you know?”

“I saw it.”

He gave such a firm answer that Shen Qi didn’t know what to say. Thus, she could only enter the elevator.

After she got in the elevator, the doors slowly shut.

The tiny elevator was filled with Ye Moxuan’s cold aura; Shen Qi couldn’t hide from it even if she wanted to.

“Did you go out this morning?”

Shen Qi felt her heart drop.

“N-No, I didn’t,” she muttered after recalling that Old Master Ye had told her that Ye Moxuan couldn’t find out about the business with Lu Group.

“Really?” Ye Moxuan asked with an eyebrow raised, his tone steely.

Shen Qi immediately looked away.

“Are you not going to tell me the truth?”

“I-I did go out for a short while this morning.”

“Where did you go?”

“Where did you go?”

Shen Qi was so nervous she was tongue tied. “I…”

I have to calm down. All Ye Moxuan knows is that I went out; he doesn’t necessarily know where I went. I can’t panic right now.

Shen Qi took a deep breath to calm herself down before she said in a soft voice, “I went out to buy some things.”

“Leaving the office and shopping during working hours? How do we punish people like her?”

Shen Qi’s lips moved like she wanted to say something, but Xiao Su glanced at her and explained, “There are rules in the Ye Group. One of them states that no one is allowed to leave their post during office hours. If there is something urgent, you must get permission from your supervisor. Assistant Shen, your supervisor is Young Master Ye, but you left the office without his permission. For that, we have to cut off one month of your salary as a warning.”

“Cut off one month of salary?” She had just started work a few days ago; if they were going to cut off one month’s wage, it would mean that she wouldn’t be receiving her salary for a long time.

“Yes, Assistant Shen. It’s the company’s rules.”

Shen Qi stole a glance at Ye Moxuan and muttered, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know… Can you—”

“No.” Ye Moxuan was decisive and resolute; he didn’t want to give her the slightest chance.

Fine, it’s my fault anyway. I didn’t seek permission from him and left the office. Since this is one of the company’s rules, I’m sure this rule applies to every employee in the company. There is nothing for me to be angry about.

After Shen Qi thought it through, she lowered her head to look at her feet, not saying a word to defend herself.

The enclosed elevator then plunged into silence; even the sounds of their breathing could be heard. Ye Moxuan was a little surprised when Shen Qi didn’t defend herself, but after some thought, he understood why.

Why would a gold-digger like her care about one month’s salary?

Pfft, I guess there is always some truth in silence.

After they got out of the elevator, Shen Qi stood there and watched as Xiao Su and Ye Moxuan left before she walked out of the company building. Standing not far away from the company building’s entrance, she could see Han Xueyou’s car waiting for her in the distance. A smile immediately appeared on her face and she hurried over to her.

Just as Shen Qi got in the car and fastened her seat belt, she heard Han Xueyou ask, “Is that your husband’s car?”

Shen Qi looked up upon hearing that. Following Han Xueyou’s gaze, she saw Ye Moxuan’s car coming out of the car park, thereupon she nodded. “Yes, but he’s not my husband.”

“Ha! Of course he’s your husband; you’re married to him.”

“It’s not like you don’t know about the arrangement we made; our marriage is just a marriage of convenience that will only last for half a year.”

Han Xueyou heard her answer, and with a hand under her chin, she mused, “A marriage of convenience it is then. However, I hear that the Second Young Master of Ye Group… can’t really do it.”

Shen Qi immediately stopped what she was doing and glanced at Han Xueyou.

“What? I think you understand what I mean.”

Shen Qi didn’t reply to her.

After a few seconds, Han Xueyou got closer to her and asked curiously, “Throughout your marriage, have you guys done it before?”

Shen Qi was so embarrassed by her question her face turned red. She then bit her lower lip and said, “Of course not!”

“See, I told you. The rumors are probably true.”

“Xueyou, don’t speak nonsense. They’re probably just rumors.”

“It’s not impossible you know. There’s no smoke without fire. Now that you two are married, why won’t he do it with you? If there’s nothing wrong with his body, why would he let you stay?”

“There is a reason.” Shen Qi looked down so that Han Xueyou wouldn’t be able to see the emotions in her eyes before she said, “He doesn’t like me anyway; it’s normal for him to not want to touch me. You can’t just assume that he’s sexually incompetent.”

“Qi, why are finding excuses for him?” Han Xueyou said before she helplessly splayed out her hands. “Do you like him?”

Shen Qi’s eyes widened after she heard her question and shouted, “That’s absurd!”

“Then why are you finding excuses for him? Besides, if he’s sexually incompetent, it’s good news for you; that way you don’t have to worry about losing your virginity. Oh, I received some news about the button that you asked me to investigate.”

“Already?” Shen Qi asked in shock.

Delighted, Han Xueyou’s lips curled into a smile. “Don’t forget that I’m from the Han Family; of course I can easily find some clues about small matters like these.”

“What did you find out?”

“Buttons are very common. At first, when my brother heard that I was looking for someone based only on a button, he gave me a scolding because he thought that it was impossible. However, after he saw what the button looked like, my brother noticed that the button is made of great quality material; normal clothes won’t use buttons like these.”

Then, Han Xueyou paused and gave Shen Qi a mysterious smile before she looked at her belly and said, “Qi, the father of the small child in your belly is definitely a wealthy man.”

When Shen Qi heard that, her eyelids twitched.

“This is all the information I have for now. As for the rest… my brother said that you have to bring the button to him so that he can take a closer look. After all, pictures aren’t enough. He needs to see the button for himself to be able to find more detailed information. Do you have it on you right now?”

Shen Qi shook her head. The button… is still under Ye Moxuan’s bed.

“What? Why aren’t you carrying around such an important thing?”

“I just found it yesterday night. I’ll go back and get it and pass it to you tomorrow.”

“Okay, then. You must remember to bring it to me tomorrow. Just wait until I help you find the baby’s father. Once we find him, I’ll help you leave Ye Moxuan. Let’s see if he can still be so arrogant then.”

Shen Qi nodded. “I know.”

“You have to be extra careful and take care of yourself as well as the baby. I’ll try my best to help you find out more about the baby’s father. I’ll update you if I find anything.”

“Thank you, Xueyou.” Then, Shen Qi bit her lower lip and said, “I’m lucky to have met you.”

Hearing this, Han Xueyou chuckled and said, “Stop being so melodramatic. It’s annoying!”

At that, Shen Qi moved closer and hugged her.

“Alright, let me take you home.”

“Okay.”

Then, Han Xueyou took Shen Qi back to the Ye residence. After Shen Qi got out of the car, she entered the house and went straight upstairs.

On the way to her room, she had been thinking about Han Xueyou’s words, hence she wasn’t really paying attention to her surroundings. She only realized that there were maids cleaning the room when she reached her room’s doorway; they had just finished cleaning and passed by her on their way out.

Shen Qi didn’t really bother about them. After she entered, she realized that Ye Moxuan was not back yet, so she hurriedly put down her bag before she got on the floor and looked under the bed.

The button that was under the bed this morning was gone! Shen Qi was so scared she felt as if her soul had left her body.

Then, she suddenly remembered the maid that passed her by when she entered the room. She was here to clean; is it possible that she took the button?

After some thought, Shen Qi got up and hurriedly walked outside the room.

Not far away from her, two maids were talking. “I found this button when I was cleaning the Second Young Master’s room just now. Take it and help me ask the Second Young Master whether the button belongs to him.”

Shen Qi rushed out of the room in a hurry to find the servant; she didn’t even bother to put on her shoes.

“Hello.” Since the beginning, Shen Qi’s attitude toward the maids had always been timid because she knew that the maids of the Ye Family looked down on her. As such, she didn’t even know if they would give her the button back.

Which was why Shen Qi was already mentally prepared to be scorned at by the maid, but to her surprise, the expression on the maid’s face immediately changed when she saw her. The maid took a step back and respectfully greeted, “Second Young Lady.”

Shen Qi was startled by her reaction. What is happening?

“Second Young Lady, are you looking for me?”

Shen Qi paused for a moment before she nodded. Even though she didn’t understand why the maid had suddenly changed her attitude, she didn’t have time to figure that out because the most important thing right then was to get the button back.

Shen Qi asked, “I saw you cleaning my room just now. Have you seen a button?”

When the maid heard her question, she immediately replied, “Second Young Lady, are you looking for a gold button? I thought it belonged to the Second Young Master.”

“No!” Shen Qi had a big reaction. “That button belongs to me. Where is it?”

The maid instantly felt nervous, and her lips trembled as she said, “Second Young Lady, I’m sorry. I thought the button belonged to the Second Young Master so… I asked Yu to ask the Second Young Master whether it belonged to him.”

Hearing this, Shen Qi’s heart leaped to her throat. With an angry expression on her face, she said, “Ye Moxuan has not returned home yet, so did she take it?”

“Second Young Lady, it’s because I’m getting off work soon and Yu is the one working the night shift today. I passed the button to her so she could help me ask Young Master Ye after he returns home tonight. Second Young Lady, if the button is yours, I’ll go and get it back for you now.”

Deep down, Shen Qi was extremely anxious because she was worried that the other maid, Yu, would take the button to Ye Moxuan. Hence, she decided that it would be better if she went to get it back herself.

“Never mind. Tell me where Yu is. I’ll go and get it myself.”

Seeing the grave expression on Shen Qi’s face, the maid carefully said, “Second Young Lady, I’ll take you to her.”

“Okay.”

The maid led her to go look for Yu, only to find out that Yu was not in the house.

When Shen Qi found out that Yu had gone out, she was more annoyed than before. The maid saw her expression and was so scared that she trembled when she said, “S-Second Young Lady, I’m really sorry! I didn’t know that the button belongs to you. If I had known that it was yours, I would’ve definitely given it to you instead of Yu!”

“I’m Young Master Ye’s wife. You passed me by just now but you didn’t bother to pass it to me. Instead, you passed it to…” Shen Qi was indeed angry at her because the maid had passed her by when she exited her room. She knew that Shen Qi slept in that room, so why didn’t she pass it to her?

As such, she couldn’t help but lose her temper.

“Second Young Lady, the button belongs to a men’s shirt. Besides, I found it under the Second Young Master’s bed, and thus I assumed the button belongs to him.”

Hearing that, Shen Qi’s eyelids twitched. She’s right. I almost forgot that the button is from a man’s shirt. She’ll definitely get suspicious if I’m too nervous. As the thought came across Shen Qi’s mind, she tried her best to control her emotions and said in a low voice, “The button is from a suit that my father bought, so it’s very valuable to me. Can you please contact Yu for me and help me get it back?”

The maid nodded. “I understand, Second Young Lady. I’ll contact her for you.”

With that, the maid went to make a call, leaving Shen Qi standing there alone.

Even though Shen Qi was very anxious, she didn’t dare to show it.

After waiting for 2 minutes, the maid finished the call and came back. “Yu has gone out to buy some groceries. Second Young Lady, why don’t you head back to your room and get some rest? Yu will be back in an hour; I’ll ask her to pass the button to you later.”

One hour? I can’t wait an hour; Ye Moxuan will be back by then! If Yu came back at that time, he might find out about the button. After some thought, Shen Qi asked, “Is the button with Yu right now?”

“Yes.”

“Second Young Lady, I understand your feelings. I’ll stay back and wait for Yu. Once she comes back, I’ll get the button from her and pass it to you personally. Is that okay?”

Ye Moxuan was momentarily stunned before he glared at her dangerously. “Repeat what you just said.”

Shen Qi gripped her phone and slowly inched toward the door. “I don’t want to!”

Seeing how determined Han Xueyou was, Shen Qi felt like she didn’t need to worry as much.

Shen Qi stood outside for a long time, waiting for Han Xueyou’s call.

After waiting for some time, Han Xueyou finally called and said, “It’s done. You can relax now.”

Suppressing her excitement, Shen Qi asked in a soft voice, “Did you get it?”

“Yes, I did. It’s safe in my hands. Do you want me to take a picture for you?”

“There’s no need for that. All that matters is you have it. But… how did you guys do it? Did anyone notice?”

To her surprise, Ye Moxuan didn’t even bother to look at her and rejected her coldly. “No.”

Shen Qi was a little confused by his answer so she asked, “No? Why not?”

Ye Moxuan ignored her; his gaze was focused on the documents and it was obvious he didn’t plan on giving her an answer.

Shen Qi saw this so she bit her lower lip and took two steps forward and said, “Young Master Ye, I really have some important business to handle, hence I need to leave the company for a short while.”

“I told you, the answer is no.”

“What’s the reason?”

“Get out!”

“Ye Moxuan!”

Furious, Ye Moxuan put down the documents in his hand and slammed his palm on the table.

The sound was extra loud in the quiet office.

Shen Qi immediately swallowed what she wanted to say, and the both of them just glared at each other.

In the end, Shen Qi was forced to give in, thereafter she turned and left the office.

After Shen Qi left his office, she was infuriated. Those two men had really put her in a tight spot; it was hard being the middleman for Old Master Ye and Ye Moxuan.

Lu Xunchang chuckled and buried his face in her neck. “Darling, I had a business meeting last night, hence I was busy. I’ll go to your house tonight?”

“Really? Don’t you lie to me,” the woman said before she pouted her lips, asking him for a kiss.

Darkness flashed across Lu Xunchang’s face as his hand laced around the woman’s waist. Pulling her closer to him, he lowered his head to kiss her.

“President Lu,” a soft woman’s voice suddenly rang out.

Lu Xunchang immediately stopped what he was doing. Upset, he turned to see who was the person that had interrupted him and the woman in his arms.

Shen Qi clenched the bag in her hands tightly and stood there as she watched them awkwardly. It is indeed pretty impolite to interrupt people’s sweet time together but what happened at the park last time taught me a lesson. If I don’t stop Lu Xunchang now, he and that woman will probably do something R-rated in front of me. Even though I can close my eyes, I don’t have the time to wait.

When Lu Xunchang saw that it was Shen Qi, he narrowed his eyes a little. “Oh, it’s you.”

Her tone was neither humble or haughty; there wasn’t any expression on her face as her eyes were fixed on Lu Xunchang.

Lu Xunchang looked at her for a moment and chuckled before he said, “What makes you think you’re worthy enough to discuss business with me? If the Ye Group wants my cooperation, ask Young Master Ye to personally discuss it with me.”

“President Lu, I hope you can understand that it’s inconvenient for Young Master Ye to travel around in a wheelchair,” Shen Qi said emotionlessly.

After staring at Shen Qi for a while, Lu Xunchang suddenly told the woman in his arms, “Go on and head home first.”

The woman was angry and unwilling to leave so she whined, “Xunchang, I don’t want to. I want you to accompany me back home.”

“Be obedient.” Lu Xunchang said with a stern look on his face; the drastic change in his aura made the woman so scared that her hand trembled a little as she stared at him blankly.

Then, Lu Xunchang patted her head and said, “The women I like most are women who are obedient.”

“Well… okay. Then I’ll be leaving now.”

Before the woman left, she glared at Shen Qi; it was obvious that she thought Shen Qi was her rival in love.

Shen Qi caught her reaction but she remained calm.

After the woman left, Lu Xunchang took out his car keys and said, “Let’s discuss it in the car.”

Shen Qi felt a shiver run down her spine upon hearing that. She then gritted her teeth and said, “President Lu, there is a cafe right outside. I think it is a suitable venue for us to discuss business.”

“You are the one who came to meet me. Shouldn’t I be the one to decide the venue?” Then, Lu Xunchang suddenly took a step forward, looking like he was about to hug Shen Qi. Shen Qi was so startled that she staggered back a few steps and asked, “President Lu, may I ask what venue do you have in mind?”

“Just get in the car!”

Startled, Shen Qi straightened her back and stood still.

However, she didn’t realize that the more serious she was, the more Lu Xunchang wanted to tease her so that he could see her panicked reaction.

She immediately turned to leave.

“Isn’t it a little too late for you to back out now?” Lu Xunchang said as he hurriedly chased after her, “I even asked my female companion to leave because of you. Assistant Shen, I believe you aren’t that unreasonable, are you?”

“I’m heading to the cafe right outside the building. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to join me or not!”

With that, Shen Qi forcefully shook off Lu Xunchang’s hand and walked out of the parking lot.

Her straightened back, thin figure and determined expression aroused Lu Xunchang’s interest in her. His gaze roamed her back before it stopped at her bottom.

After Shen Qi entered the cafe, she chose a table at a quiet corner and sat down. Two minutes later, Lu Xunchang entered the cafe.

Even though he was the President of Lu Group, he playfully sat down next to Shen Qi and even reached out his arm to hug her. When Shen Qi saw this, her expression instantly changed and she admonished, “President Lu, please be respectful!”

Then, Shen Qi got up and sat at the seat opposite him.

Lu Xunchang chuckled. “Woman, are you really here to discuss business with me?”

Shen Qi called the waiter over to order two cups of coffee before she lowered her voice and said, “I apologize for that night!”

“Oh?” Lu Xunchang raised an eyebrow. “Did Ye Moxuan send you over because he doesn’t dare to meet me himself?”

“I came here on my own terms. This has nothing to do with him,” Shen Qi pursed her lips and said.

“Then what if I say I don’t accept your apology?”

Shen Qi looked up at him and her gaze was cold. Along with the expression on her face, she looked dull.

“Why not?” Lu Xunchang spread his hands, unbothered by her words. Then, he leaned back against his chair and continued making fun of Ye Moxuan. “Isn’t it a well-known fact? Everyone else in the coffee house heard the commotion. They were stunned after they saw what happened and continued to look on in amazement.

The cup of coffee was so hot that after it was splashed on Lu Xunchang’s face, he was stunned for several seconds before he could respond. “How dare you throw your coffee at me?”

Then, he stood up and reached out his hand to slap Shen Qi.

Shen Qi stood still and glared at him without any sign of fear in her eyes.

Unfortunately for him, he was stopped by someone before his hand got near Shen Qi’s fair cheeks.

Xiao Su grabbed his hand and shouted, “If you want to hit Shen Qi, you have to ask Young Master Ye’s permission first!”

With that, he threw Lu Xunchang’s hand away with such force that the latter staggered backward, knocking over the table next to him before falling butt-first to the ground.

As for Shen Qi, she was so startled by what happened that she looked at Xiao Su in astonishment. At that moment, panic replaced the previous defiant expression on her face when she was about to get slapped by Lu Xunchang.

She clenched the hem of her shirt tightly as she looked at Ye Moxuan, who was sitting in his wheelchair, at a loss.

I was sure he was still in his office when I left just now, so how did he know that I was going to be here? Could it be that he had known all along?

Shen Qi then suddenly remembered Ye Moxuan’s words when he questioned her last night, and she immediately felt like an idiot.

Meanwhile, Lu Xunchang got up from the floor. His jaw was swollen and the corner of his lips were bleeding. He then wiped away the blood from the corner of his lips and chuckled before he grabbed the chair next to him and threw it at Ye Moxuan.

“Young Master Ye!” Xiao Su, who was standing not far away from Lu Xunchang, didn’t expect that the latter would be so despicable.

“Gasp!” Shen Qi saw this and without any hesitation, she rushed forward to block the chair from hurting Ye Moxuan.

Ye Moxuan was about to ask if Lu Xunchang had a death wish, but to his surprise, his view was immediately blocked by someone else. It was because that stupid woman, Shen Qi, had run over and hugged his shoulders as if she wanted to protect him from the hit.

As she leaned forward, her soft hair touched his face and he could smell the unique fragrance that only women had as she got closer to him. As such, Ye Moxuan was stunned.

When the other people in the coffee shop saw this, they were utterly shocked.

Fortunately, Ye Moxuan had grabbed Shen Qi and avoided the chair at the crucial moment.

“You shameless b*stard!” Xiao Su let out a sigh of relief after he saw that Ye Moxuan and Shen Qi were safe. However, what followed was anger as he walked up to Lu Xunchang and grabbed his collar before giving him a punch in the jaw.

Lu Xunchang got hit by Xiao Su the first time because he was unprepared. However, he had learned from that lesson and was prepared this time, so he punched Xiao Su back. The both of them then started fighting each other.

Meanwhile, Shen Qi was still hugging Ye Moxuan’s neck tightly with her eyes closed tightly; she was so afraid her tiny body was shaking and even her eyelashes trembled. However, even though she was scared, she did not let go of Ye Moxuan.

“When are you going to let go?” Ye Moxuan asked in a hoarse voice.

He was a little startled by her actions. When the chair was thrown in his direction just now, he was calm because he knew that he could get out of the way easily, but Shen Qi had thrown herself onto him without any thought, becoming a hindrance to him.

However, Shen Qi had rushed forward to save him without regard for her own safety, and her actions were like a wave of warmth that slowly spread through his body.

Shen Qi was a little surprised when she heard his voice. She slowly opened her eyes in fear and looked around before she noticed that she wasn’t feeling any pain.

After Shen Qi realized that she was still hugging Ye Moxuan, she hurriedly got up and coughed awkwardly before she asked, “Are you okay?”
