Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 381

“Continue with the meeting,” Han Muzi ordered coldly before shifting focus back on the documents.

The meeting did not stop halfway, and so Zhang Yu waited at the door for almost an hour. By the time the conference room doors opened again, Zhang Yu peeked into the room anxiously.

Just when she looked up, she saw Lin Zheng, who had a cold and aloof expression, walking out of the conference room without sparing her a glance.

Zhang Yu’s lips parted, as if she was about to ask something, but she suppressed that urge when she saw how indifferent he was.

“Lin Zheng, wait for me,” Xiao Yiyi called for him while chasing after him hastily.

Shu Guo’er followed from behind, and she stared at the two of their back views as she made her way toward them too. However, someone pulled onto her sleeve out of nowhere.

“Guo’er, what happened in there? What were you discussing? Does a new company have to hold such long meetings?”

Shu Guo’er was an easy-going person, and she seemed good-natured as well. Besides, she didn’t take sides, and so Zhang Yu thought that it was best to ask her about this.

True enough, Shu Guo’er did not show any resentment while answering her in a soft voice, “It is exactly because we are a new company that it is necessary to talk about certain important things related to work, there were discussions as well. A new company requires expansion, so, Zhang Yu, I feel like we should give our new boss some time, and we shouldn’t be mean to her.

Zhang Yu replied unhappily when she heard that, “When was I mean? I didn’t do anything. You saw it yourself; when I went in earlier, she chased me out. Is this something a boss would do?”

“What about you?” Shu Guo’er sighed. “Our boss informed us that we have a meeting, and as a subordinate, why didn’t you attend the meeting?” she asked.

“I…” Zhang Yu was rendered speechless at Shu Guo’er’s blunt question.

Shu Guo’er patted her shoulder and advised her in a quiet tone, “You are at fault in this matter. You heard it the other day—you’re free to leave the company if you don’t wish to stay on. I think she is right, because we shouldn’t go against our true wishes.”

With that, Shu Guo’er smiled at her politely and marched forward.

After listening to her speech, Zhang Yu seemed to have thought of something suddenly. She turned around and glared at Shu Guo’er while asking her with an icy tone, “You just couldn’t wait to give me that speech, could you? Are you trying to get rid of everyone beside you? Are you hoping that once everyone had left, you would be the only person standing?”

Shu Guo’er paused her footsteps when she heard that. Then, she turned around and shot Zhang Yu a helpless look.

“If that’s what you think, so be it. I have something to attend to, so I’ll leave now.”

Zhang Yu was extremely unhappy after Shu Guo’er left because she felt as if her scolding fell on deaf ears. Nevertheless, although Shu Guo’er always wore a kind smile, as if always considering others’ feelings, Zhang Yu felt disgusted by her fake façade.

After everyone had left the conference room gradually, Han Muzi was still at her seat, arranging the documents they used during today’s meeting. Suddenly, she sensed a scorching gaze staring at her.

Han Muzi pursed her lips while looking up at that person.

“Is there anything else?”

Her voice was frosty, just like a block of ice.

It sent chills down Li Junfeng’s spine as he hugged his arms and shuddered involuntarily. “Such a beautiful ice queen. Why are you so cold? My beautiful goddess, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”

Han Muzi frowned while staring at him in displeasure.

For some reason, she had a formidable aura despite being a woman. Li Junfeng felt as if he might suffocate from the pressure she was exerting, and so he smiled helplessly. “I’m just inviting my superior out for dinner.”

“Thank you, but there’s no need,” answered Han Muzi before she lowered her head again and focused on the stack of documents. After that, she flipped a page, and Yan approached to whisper something in her ear, so Han Muzi responded and nodded.

Li Junfeng felt his heart skip a beat while he stared at Han Muzi.

But soon, he thought it was a pity. It’s a shame that such a beautiful woman belongs to Han Qing, sigh.

Besides, a person whom Han Qing treats exceptionally probably wouldn’t fall for someone like me.

Li Junfeng stopped making his moves upon making that conclusion, and so he started packing his things to leave the conference room.

After he left, Yan couldn’t help but complain, “Li Junfeng and his habits die hard. Must he get involved with his own boss? Such a shameless man! I heard that he pursued every woman he laid eyes on. He wouldn’t let it go as long as it’s a beautiful woman. But I didn’t expect that he’d even—”

“That’s enough. Just ignore him,” replied Han Muzi calmly.

“Your brother is another one. Why must he choose a person like him when there are so many candidates to choose from?”

“My brother…” Han Muzi paused for a while, and her gaze darkened. “He has his reasons for the people he chose. It’s not just him; there are others as well. In any case… no matter who it is, we have to get through this adjustment period. You’ve worked hard today, Yan. You should head home earlier and get some rest.”

Yan shook her head vigorously when she heard that. “Forget it. Everyone has the same working hours, so they will start talking behind your back if I left early.”

The two of them continued their discussion for a while longer in the conference room before finally leaving the room.

When they walked out of the conference room, they realized in surprise that Zhang Yu was still waiting outside of the room.

Zhang Yu stuttered for ages when she saw them walking out.

Yan broke the silence. “What is it that you want?”

“I…” Zhang Yu glanced at Han Muzi and realized that she had a distant and blank expression. Hence, Zhang Yu had no choice but to explain. “To be honest, I didn’t barge into the conference room on purpose, but something bad happened. Besides, I didn’t skip the meeting on purpose; it was because Yueyue was ill suddenly, and so I and Wang An stayed in the office to look after her.”

Yan was at a loss for words.

Han Muzi replied, “Mm-hmm.”

Mm-hmm? Zhang Yu was bewildered at Han Muzi’s response. What does ‘mm-hmm’ mean?

“I am telling you the truth. Yueyue fainted just now, and Wang An already sent her to the hospital.”

Yan remarked in annoyance, “We know now. You should go back to work.”

Zhang Yu was not quite sure what else to do. “Is that it?”

Han Muzi and Yan remained silent, and Zhang Yu was so frustrated that she almost burst into laughter. “You truly are a heartless woman. You aren’t concerned at all under such circumstances. Aren’t you concerned about Yueyue at all?”

When faced with Zhang Yu’s loud accusations, Han Muzi’s pink lips finally parted and moved as she answered with a quiet voice, “If her condition were truly severe, why are you still here?

“That’s right. Shouldn’t you be with Wang An to look after her? Why are you standing like a fool at the conference room door instead of looking after her?”

Zhang Yu spluttered in response, “I-I…”

She bit her lower lips. In all honesty, I didn’t stay back in the office to look after Leng Yueyue, who wasn’t feeling well. I look down on Han Muzi, indeed, and that is why I didn’t feel like going for her meeting.

Coincidentally, Leng Yueyue was feeling under the weather, and since Wang An stayed back to look after her, it meant that I could stay in the office too.

However, after Wang An took Leng Yueyue to the hospital, I feel as if… it wouldn’t look good on me to stay in the office alone, and so I thought I’d better explain the situation.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 382

It was unexpected that both women acted so indifferently after knowing the truth. She instantly felt like a fool for that one hour she had wasted waiting.

“We get it. You can go back first.” In the end, it was Han Muzi who spoke.

Zhang Yu was enraged, and she left after a sneer.

After she left, Yan took a look at Han Muzi and asked, “Someone is sick. Shall we go visit?”

Han Muzi pursed her lips. “Look into Wang An’s background.”

Yan immediately understood Han Muzi’s intention and nodded. “Right away.”

Han Muzi and Yan then went to the hospital together after work. On the way to the hospital, Yan carried a basket of fruits and flowers as she said dispiritedly, “Leng Yueyue was so arrogant the other day. Why are we still visiting her?”

Han Muzi just smiled and didn’t say a word.

“Muzi! Hello?”

“Because we are trying to win the people’s hearts.” Han Muzi looked at Yan. “If she were not a member of our company, it wouldn’t have mattered if she was ill. But now, she is a member of my team and was admitted to the hospital during working hours. As a superior, is there a problem for me to show that I care?”

Yan was startled for a moment as she heard her. She then pouted her mouth and replied in disagreement, “Of course you could show that you care, but not every superior cares about their subordinate. If everytime a subordinate falls ill and the superior visits, wouldn’t the President of a national enterprise be worn out?”

“But I’m not a president of a national enterprise; I’m just a nobody that just opened a business. Although we did pretty well in the past when we worked for others, now that we’ve started our own business, we have to take up the responsibility and show our attitude.”

“That’s true. Sigh, it’s so difficult to operate a company,” Yan complained and leaned on Han Muzi’s shoulder dispiritedly.

Han Muzi was emotionless. She used to work in a company, and she had the choice to not do this. She just felt that she should warm people’s hearts at times. It was more important than anything else.

“Ooh-la-la, I’m the cutest, and the cutest is me!” The phone’s ringtone rang suddenly, and Han Muzi’s face changed when she heard it. “This is…”

“Haha, it’s cute, isn’t it?” Yan smiled as she took her phone out. “I recorded Little Bean’s voice and made it my ringtone. There’s only one in the world!”

Han Muzi’s lips curved uncontrollably. Yan and Little Bean really were adorable when they got together.

“Hey, I have never seen this number,” Yan remarked suspiciously. Then Han Muzi looked over to her screen and asked, “It’s a local number. Could it be your friend?”

“No way. I haven’t told them that I’m back.”

Yan gave it some thought and suddenly bit her own finger. “Could it be that… a client?” With that, she answered the call. “Hi, this is Yan speaking.”

Han Muzi wasn’t bothered by Yan’s words, and she just looked out of the window. While Yan was speaking on the phone, she plugged in her headphones and played some relaxing music. The soft percussion beats were like cotton balls jumping on her heart, calming her mind and body. She had indeed been a little exhausted recently.

Soon, Han Muzi began to fall asleep listening to the instrumental music on the chair. Just as she was about to fall asleep, her shoulder was nudged, and she was instantly awakened.

Before she could react, her earphones were removed, and the clear percussion music was replaced by a joyful voice. Yan pulled on her sleeves excitedly as she announced, “Muzi, I was right. There is business!”

Han Muzi was dumbfounded. She almost fell asleep, and now that she was disturbed, her heart was beating really fast. “What do you mean?”

“It’s the assistant director we met at the set in Su City. You remember him, don’t you?”

Han Muzi thought about it and nodded.

“He asked for our business contact. Do you remember?”

Han Muzi didn’t answer and just hinted to her to continue.

“It was the assistant director who called and discussed business. He said that a celebrity, who is going to attend a press conference, saw your previous work and liked it a lot, so she would like to meet up some time.”

Han Muzi froze for a moment. We just worked with a celebrity, and now came another?

Just as she was hesitating, Yan spoke, “I’ve agreed and got their contact. Muzi, our company is just starting, and we need orders! Having a celebrity client can boost our popularity, and she can attend the press conference donning our company’s design.”

Hearing so, Han Muzi was tempted. Indeed, our company is just starting to grow, and if we can sign a contract with the celebrity, this would actually work. With that thought in mind, she nodded her head.

“I will communicate with them!”

“Thanks for the hard work, Yan.”

When they arrived at the hospital, they walked toward the ward. As they walked in, they saw Leng Yueyue lying on the bed while Wang An sat nearby. Her face was extremely pale. She looked weak, yet she still put on an annoyed look and glared at Wang An, who was by her bed. “Get lost, will you? I get annoyed whenever I see your face. Do you not want me to get well soon?”

Wang An wasn’t mad although he was scolded, and he just smiled conscientiously. “Of course. Whatever you say, Yueyue. I will get lost. Rest well.” With that, Wang An stood up and saw Han Muzi and Yan, who were by the door. He was startled at first, but he soon responded with a smile. “You guys are here.”

Han Muzi smiled and walked in along with Yan. Leng Yueyue looked toward their direction as she heard the commotion, and her expression changed instantly when she saw who it was. “What are they doing here?”

Wang An immediately explained, “Yueyue, they heard that you passed out, and so they are here to visit you.”

Yan walked forward and passed the fruits and flowers to Wang An.

However, Leng Yueyue shouted suddenly, “Tell them to get lost! I don’t need their pretentious kindness and caring!”

Wang An was startled. “Yueyue, they really are here to visit you. Don’t be like this…”

“You should get lost as well! It’s none of your business. Ignoring the fact that you stuck around shamelessly; what are you trying to do by bringing them to my ward?”

“Hey, what is your problem?” Yan couldn’t stand it anymore and growled with her teeth gritted, “We came to visit you out of kindness and brought you fruits. We meant no harm, so you didn’t have to act like this even if you don’t welcome us. Where are your manners?”

“Hmph.” Leng Yueyue took a glance at Yan sarcastically and glared at Han Muzi. “Don’t tell me that you thought I would speak for you before others just because you are kind to me.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 383

“It doesn’t matter to me whether you speak for me.”

Since Leng Yueyue said so, Han Muzi expressed her point as well.

“But you’re currently on my team, and it’s my duty to visit you when you’re sick.” With that, Han Muzi looked at Yan. “They took the things. So let’s go now.”

“Okay.” Yan nodded and left the ward with Han Muzi.

Wang An probably felt embarrassed, and so he followed them out. He then scratched his head and apologized. “I’m sorry. This is just her personality. She just has a foul mouth, but she is actually kind-hearted.”

Hearing that, Han Muzi glanced at him indifferently.

This man appeared to be much more simple and nerdy compared to Leng Yueyue’s acrimony. They were clearly from completely different worlds judging by their appearance.

It was clear that Wang An was deeply in love with Leng Yueyue as he could still speak up for her after being yelled at like that.

“We don’t care about her character. Unlike you, we are not her suitor,” Yan growled unhappily.

Hearing that, Wang An seemed to be a little embarrassed and could only put on an awkward smile.

“I’m so sorry. I’ll apologize on her behalf.”

“No need. We’ll leave first. Make sure she rests well.”

“Sure, thank you.”

Yan was still unsatisfied, but she quickly caught up with Han Muzi’s pace as she complained, “Leng Yueyue really is ungrateful. What she said just now really was enraging.”

“Let’s just leave her alone.” Han Muzi shook her head, indicating that it was fine.

“I don’t understand what you were thinking to come visit her personally,” Yan mumbled as they walked forward.

At the same time, Ye Moxuan was being dragged downstairs by Song An. His face looked extremely gloomy, but because it was Song An who was pulling him, he couldn’t do anything. All he could do was to follow her downstairs.

“Must I go?”

His cold voice rang from the back, and Song An immediately looked back and glared at him. “What? You promised me you’d go. So what tricks are you trying to play now?”

Ye Moxuan breathed heavily as he looked up coldly.

Just as he looked up, he saw a familiar figure disappearing before him. He just saw a side profile, which was soon blocked by the wall.

Ye Moxuan just took one glance, and his heart was overwhelmed. His expression changed, and he quickly stepped forward, wanting to check something.

But he could feel a force pulling him on the sleeve. Ye Moxuan turned back and saw Song An glaring at him angrily. “Where are you trying to go? Ye Moxuan, what I said today is true. If you dare—”

“Let me go.” Ye Moxuan frowned as he rebuked with a cold voice.

Song An thought he didn’t want to go on a blind date and wanted to escape, so she held on tightly and didn’t let him go.

Ye Moxuan didn’t have a choice but to shake off Song An’s hand forcefully. He halted in his steps when he heard Song An’s cry, but he soon ran forward quickly.

It’s that face again.

Is she really in North City?

By the time Ye Moxuan ran all the way down, the figure had already disappeared. He looked around several places but never found that person again.

The people around him probably found his actions strange and were all staring at him curiously. But Ye Moxuan just stood there as he fell into self-doubt.

It’s been years, but I saw that face twice in the past few days.

Is she back in North City, or was it just my imagination?

Aunt said that I was just hallucinating. I thought so as well…

After all, that woman has appeared countless times in my dreams in the past five years and tormented me every day and night!

Song An finally caught up with him after some time. Realizing that he suddenly ran downstairs like a maniac, she quickly ran after him after she balanced herself. Now that she saw him standing there like a fool, she walked up to him, pulled his ears, and bellowed, “You bastard, were you trying to kill me? You actually just pushed me away like that! Run now, run! Just let me fall to death!”

Ye Moxuan didn’t say a word, but the pain from his ears still made him frown a little.

He turned around, his aura particularly cold. His cold gaze, like that of a wolf’s, fell on Song An’s face.

Song An could tell that something was wrong. She squinted her eyes and took a careful look at him as she withdrew her hand. “Why are you looking at me like that? Were you possessed by a ghost?”

Ye Moxuan moved his lips and wanted to say something, but he soon remembered the words Song An said to him.

Forget it.

He didn’t speak anymore and just walked away in silence.

Noticing his reaction, Song An quickly caught up with him.

“Where are you going? Ye Moxuan, you have to go on the blind date today. Do you hear me?”

“You should keep in mind that the girl is already on her way to the cafe. You have to come with me even if you are unwilling, get it? The introducer is a friend of mine from the hospital. It’s her daughter, and she is said to be a gifted student. Besides, she plays the piano. Her family background and her looks are excellent.”

Ye Moxuan stopped.

“I’ll go, okay?”

Song An immediately put on a smile. “That’s my boy.”

At the cafe.

The girl’s mother was already waiting inside with her.

“Qingqing, based on what your Aunt Song An said, her nephew is a little hot-tempered, but it’s normal. After all, he is a president of a business group, so…”

Qingqing’s full name was Lin Qingqing, and it was her mother, Mrs. Lin, who brought her here.

“Mom, I don’t mind if he is hot-tempered, as long as he doesn’t simply throw tantrums. You know that I can have a bad temper sometimes, but… I will never lose my temper for no reason. Therefore, I’ll have to see what he is like overall.”

Hearing that, Mrs. Lin nodded in comfort. “I’m glad that you are responsible and have thought about it. I’m assured to hear that.”

“Here they come.” Mrs. Lin suddenly raised her head and looked outside. She was delighted when she saw the familiar figure. “Your Aunt Song is here.”

Lin Qingqing looked up as well.

She knew Song An. Her mother was a close colleague of hers, and they had met several times.

Lin Qingqing recognized Song An at first glance, and she then saw Ye Moxuan, who was by her side.

The man was tall, and he had a poker face as he walked behind Song An. His handsome face didn’t have a smile on it, and he looked hot with his clear jawlines.

Lin Qingqing could feel her heart pounding faster with just one glance.

She froze in place and asked, “I-Is that… Aunt Song’s nephew?”

Mrs. Lin noded with a smile. “I guess so. That’s probably the only person your Aunt Song would bring with her.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 384

Lin Qingqing’s breath shortened instantly, and she was so nervous that she could only put her hands under the table as she watched them move closer.

Mrs. Lin couldn’t help but smile when she saw Lin Qingqing’s reaction.

“Appearance is not the most important; you have to observe his personality, alright?”

Lin Qingqing flushed red as she heard that. “Mom, Aunt Song is not that kind of person. She wouldn’t introduce him if he were unreliable,” she whispered.

“True.”

Soon, Song An and Ye Moxuan arrived before them.

Song An hadn’t met Mrs. Lin for some time, and they missed each other dearly. They sat down after they greeted each other.

“Let me introduce you—this is my nephew, Ye Moxuan. Moxuan, this is my colleague’s daughter, Lin Qingqing. Hurry up and greet each other.”

Ye Moxuan did not come voluntarily. His aura was so cold that it felt like everything around them froze over after they sat down.

He still remained seated after Song An asked him to greet Lin Qingqing.

Instead, Lin Qingqing reached out her hands at Ye Moxuan and spoke. “Hi, I’m Lin Qingqing. You can just call me Qingqing.”

With that, Lin Qingqing put on a smile and showed her clean, white teeth.

Ye Moxuan looked up lazily, and his cold gaze fell on Lin Qingqing’s face. “Hi, Miss Lin,” he uttered after some time.

But he didn’t take his arms out, and his voice was as cold as ice.

Everyone’s face froze a little.

Lin Qingqing was stunned as well. She told him to call her Qingqing, yet he still called her Miss Lin.

How awkward is that?

“Moxuan!” Song An gritted her teeth in displeasement and glared at Ye Moxuan.

Ye Moxuan looked calm and showed no emotion.

Lin Qingqing was the one who took her hand back embarrassedly and chuckled. “Sorry, Aunt Song. Don’t blame him; I was being over-friendly. It’s good that Mr. Ye is like this. We just met today, and we should keep some distance between us.”

Song An knew that Lin Qingqing was a polite girl, but she didn’t expect her to be so considerate. Her words really made her feel touched.

Therefore, the way Song An looked at Lin Qingqing changed, and she spoke apologetically, “I’m really sorry, Qingqing. There is nothing wrong with my nephew other than being difficult to get along. He has always been cold, and he doesn’t even show me any respect, so… please don’t take it personally. He is just someone cold outside but warm inside. After you spend more time together…”

Ye Moxuan couldn’t help but frown as he heard all these.

Cold outside and warm inside?

How is it that I didn’t know the kind of person I am?

Ha.

Lin Qingqing was more and more satisfied as she looked at Ye Moxuan.

She didn’t feel that Ye Moxuan was being impolite. Instead, she found men that were honest and cold like an iceberg more favorable.

Because of her excellence, she had many suitors. In fact, she was surrounded by them, all of which were always hitting on her smilingly. But she had also witnessed these men buying the same gifts for others as they were courting her.

She had been disappointed for a while and had lost interest in those particularly-passionate men.

A man that was handsome and cold like Ye Moxuan was just her type.

As long as I try, he will be mine alone when the iceberg that he is melts one day.

Thinking so, Lin Qingqing’s heart fluttered.

The little girl didn’t know how to disguise herself; the blush and the satisfaction in her eyes were clear. Song An and Mrs. Lin were both experienced, and they could understand the situation clearly.

Thus the two of them stood up together with a smile and said that they were going shopping, leaving the two of them together.

They then walked out of the cafe together.

“I’m so embarrassed. To tell you the truth, this is the first time I saw my daughter being moved,” Mrs. Lin admitted embarrassedly.

“It’s okay. That’s a sign that it’s working.” Song An smiled.

“It’s just that…” Mrs. Lin was worried, but she did not say it out loud.

“I know what you are worried about. My nephew’s personality is just like that. But Qingqing seems to be smart. In fact, it really depends on their fate; if they are destined, Qingqing will probably be good at controlling my nephew’s personality.”

“Sigh, your nephew seems to be decent. I hope they are destined.”

After the elders left, the youngsters both fell into complete silence.

Lin Qingqing did not speak, and neither did Ye Moxuan.

Lin Qingqing took a glance at Ye Moxuan as she felt awkward, but she found that he was sitting there expressionlessly and didn’t seem to feel awkward despite the current situation.

No, it’ll be extremely awkward if this goes on.

Lin Qingqing put on a smile and asked Ye Moxuan as she looked at him, “Mr. Ye, would you like to order a drink?”

Before he could speak, Lin Qingqing just stood up and called a waiter over.

“What can I do for you, Miss?”

Lin Qingqing looked toward Ye Moxuan, who was sitting opposite her. “Mr. Ye?”

Ye Moxuan finally looked up and moved his thin lips.

“Americano.”

He really doesn’t speak much. Lin Qingqing thought as she said to the waiter, “Get me a cup of cappuccino. Thank you.”

“Sure. Please wait a moment.”

After the waiter left, Lin Qingqing looked at Ye Moxuan and asked gently as she looked down, “Mr. Ye, do you have any hobbies during your free time?”

Ye Moxuan stared at the young woman in front of him with a cold gaze.

She was clearly a fresh graduate, and he had no interest in a childish girl like her at all.

“No.”

Lin Qingqing was startled for a moment, but she continued, “Do you usually just work, then? Don’t you have other things you do to pass time?”

“Miss Lin.”

Ye Moxuan suddenly called her. Lin Qingqing raised her head and looked into his deep eyes.

“Let’s just end this blind date.”

Lin Qingqing was stunned. “What?”

Lin Qingqing’s face changed as she watched Ye Moxuan stand up. She immediately got up and asked, “Mr. Ye, do you have a girlfriend?”

Ye Moxuan stood still and did not answer.

“I’m sure Aunt Song wouldn’t lie to me. If you had a girlfriend, she wouldn’t have introduced you to me. Since you don’t have a girlfriend, why not continue the blind date with me?” Lin Qingqing was speaking really fast, as if she was afraid that Ye Moxuan would vanish before her eyes if she spoke any slower.

Ye Moxuan didn’t speak. Lin Qingqing looked at his back, took a deep breath, and walked up to him.

“Are you going to say that you are here just to perfuncturate your aunt? And you wouldn’t have come here otherwise?”

Hearing that, Ye Moxuan frowned.

“Since you already know, get out of my way.”

“But… Aunt Song and my mother just left. If you leave too, it will be embarrassing for a girl like me. So just do me a favor and stay put until the blind date is over, will you?

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 385

Lin Qingqing not only was good looking, but she also had a high IQ and EQ.

That was the only thing she could do when dealing with a cool man like him.

If he had some manners toward a girl, he would probably stay.

But Lin Qingqing wouldn’t be discouraged even if he didn’t stay, for there was always another chance.

With that, Lin Qingqing looked up at Ye Moxuan with a pleading gaze, and her small face was filled with stubbornness.

Alas, Ye Moxuan was no gentleman, so how would he care whether she would lose face?

But the way the woman looked up pleadingly at him, it actually… reminded him of the woman deep down in his memories.

That woman… once looked at me the same way.

Damn it!

Why am I thinking of her again? She’s been appearing in my mind more and more frequently for the past few days.

“Mr. Ye?” Lin Qingqing saw him drifting away as he stood before her. He seemed to be lost in his thoughts, and so she called him.

Ye Moxuan got back to his senses and looked at the woman before his eyes.

There was no sign of that woman’s face anymore.

“I’m really sorry. I know I might be asking too much, but—”

Before she could finish her words, Ye Moxuan went back to his seat and sat down again. He spat indifferently with a cold expression, “Don’t disturb me.”

Lin Qingqing was elated, and she hurried back to her seat.

Great. This man’s heart really is warm inside.

He might look cold like ice from his appearance, but deep inside, a fireball is burning.

As long as… I can hold on, I’m sure I can melt that layer of ice surrounding the fireball.

The thought made Lin Qingqing smile coyly as she looked down.

Ye Moxuan told her not to disturb him, and so she was tactful enough to not to speak to him anymore. She just occasionally looked up at him quietly. The more she looked at him, the more she found his looks to be in line with her aesthetic.

She always liked handsome men. Although a lot of her suitors were handsome, most of them looked more feminine.

But Ye Moxuan gave her a different feeling.

This man was very masculine, and his strong aura made him feel like a king.

This is the kind of man I’m looking for.

Therefore, Lin Qingqing secretly made up her mind to pursue him. She would not hesitate and was determined to make Ye Moxuan hers.

Ye Moxuan could feel the woman’s gaze wandering around his body, and it made him even more irritated.

Why on earth did Song An make me come to such a boring place?

Even if she wants me to get a girl, I can simply pick one. Why does she need to… get a friend’s daughter?

Ye Moxuan frowned and was extremely displeased.

“Five minutes.”

He suddenly spoke.

Lin Qingqing, who was sitting opposite him, was stunned for a moment and didn’t understand his words. “Huh?”

But Ye Moxuan did not give her another response. Hence, Lin Qingqing subconsciously took a look at the time.

Five minutes later, Ye Moxuan got up and left without looking back.

Lin Qingqing didn’t even have the chance to stop him. She took her phone out and took a look, and she then understood what Ye Moxuan meant by ‘five minutes’.

It turned out that the five minutes he said was the time he stayed.

Now that the time was up, he left.

Although today’s blind date didn’t go well, Lin Qingqing remembered that man vividly.

She wasn’t angry at all, and she just left after taking her things. As she got into the car, she couldn’t help but send a message to her cousin, Lin Xinghuo.

Lin Qingqing: ‘Xinghuo, I was dragged to a blind date by my mom today!’

She didn’t get any replies after she sent the message, but she didn’t mind. She restrained her joyful heart and put the phone bag into her bag. Her cousin, Lin Xinghuo, was a popular movie star, who must be filming at the moment, so she didn’t expect her to reply to her message.

Meanwhile, after Yan gave the assistant director Muzi’s contact, he sent her a message asking for her availability.

Han Muzi sent him the address of her company after some thought.

The assistant director couldn’t help but praise Han Muzi when he saw that she had started her own company. ‘I was going to bring you into our circle, yet you even have your own company now. I guess I don’t have that honor, then.’

Seeing this message, Han Muzi smiled.

‘Thanks for the thought, but I don’t have any potential in acting. By the way, if you have the time, you can bring her agent to my company to discuss it.’

‘Sure, I’ll talk to her.’

Han Muzi wanted to make use of this opportunity to see if they would be arrogant. If she told them to meet at her company, Zhao Yiru, whom they met previously, would’ve probably pointed at her nose and yelled at her.

In the evening, Han Muzi received a call from the actress’ agent. After discussion, they agreed to meet in her company the next day, and they then hung up.

She could tell from the friendly manner of the agent that their corporation should be smooth sailing.

After all, people like Zhao Yiru were in the minority.

When Han Muzi went to work the next day, she bumped into Li Junfeng by coincidence when she was taking the elevator with Yan.

He was holding a bag, and he immediately put on a smile when he saw Han Muzi.

“Good morning, Miss Muzi. Have you had your breakfast?”

His enthusiastic voice made Han Muzi look in his direction.

This man seemed to be thick-skinned.

“Good morning,” she answered indifferently.

Li Junfeng was encouraged, and he immediately moved his face closer as he smiled. “I brought breakfast. Miss Muzi, do you want some?”

Before Han Muzi could react, Yan blocked in front of him. “What are you doing? Do you have to be so close to speak?”

“Tsk, Yan…” Li Junfeng couldn’t help but pout as he saw Yan blocking before Han Muzi. “I don’t have a choice. I’ve got a kind of illness where I can’t speak without getting close.”

Yan was speechless for a moment. “Have some dignity!”

With that, Yan reached out to push him aside.

Li Junfeng’s body actually fell backward, and he leaned limply against the wall. “Yan, you actually touched my body. Are you trying to take advantage of me?”

Yan was dumbfounded before she yelled, “Go to hell!”

“Are you actually trying to commit suicide for love with me?” Li Junfeng asked.

“Haha.” Yan couldn’t restrain herself anymore, and she clenched her fist and put on a malicious smile as she approached Li Junfeng. “Do you want to have a taste of my fist?”

Han Muzi, who was at the side, couldn’t bear the sight. She massaged her temples and decided to ignore them.

Ding—

Just then, the elevator door opened, and Li Junfeng fled out.

“Miss Han, Yan, I’ll go first. See you later in the cafeteria during lunch.”

Ding—

The elevator door closed again. Yan was speechless. “This Li Junfeng really is thick-skinned. By the way, did you mention that the celebrity is coming over to our company today?”

Han Muzi pursed her lips together and tilted her head. “I’m not sure if she is coming herself or that her agent is coming.”

“I went online and looked it up after you mentioned yesterday night. She’s Lin Xinghuo, a famous female star. She didn’t just get popular with traffic!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 386

“Oh?” Han Muzi raised her eyebrow. “Continue.”

“Her style is different from Zhao Yiru. Zhao Yiru got famous overnight after playing a role in a TV show, but it was a teenage love story and had nothing substantial overall. The show is just to pass the time and has nothing worth rewatching in it. But Lin Xinghuo is different; she started her career at a young age and played different intriguing roles.

Usually, celebrities who took this path wouldn’t get famous and don’t receive much attention, but she is different. Because of her natural beauty and her excellent acting skills… she has been famous since young and received many opportunities.”

Han Muzi managed to understand a little after listening to Yan.

“Most importantly, it was said that she was born in a wealthy family, has good manners, and never acted arrogantly. She is the complete opposite of Zhao Yiru.”

Hearing that, Han Muzi couldn’t help but to glance at Yan. “It seems that you are very satisfied with our potential new customer, aren’t you?”

“Yes, of course! You have no idea how pleased I am. We have to take this customer down and make Zhao Yiru mad.”

“Wake up. Zhao Yiru is in the past. We are taking this customer in to boost our company’s name. This is our first order, so don’t get too personal, get it?”

Yan only realized that she had brought in her personal emotions after Han Muzi reminded her.

“All right, I understand.”

Ding—

The two of them walked out of the elevator. As they walked, Han Muzi said, “Prepare the documents. We’ll probably meet in a while.”

The appointment was at 10AM.

They only had fifteen minutes.

At 10AM, a black van appeared downstairs as expected. Yan and Han Muzi waited downstairs when it was about time, ready to welcome them in person.

When the door was opened, the agent got down first.

He then looked carefully around to make sure that there weren’t any paparazzis following, and he finally turned and said, “Xinghuo, you may come down now.”

Han Muzi and Yan were both watching from the side as a securely-covered figure appeared before their eyes.

The girl jumped out of the van. She was wearing a hat, and her body was covered securely from head to toe, leaving only her captivating eyes exposed.

Han Muzi and Yan didn’t know what to say.

“Wow, is this the designer’s company? It looks pretty good!”

Her agent was speechless before he uttered, “Xinghuo, let’s go in first. We don’t want to be photographed.”

“Okay.”

Lin Xinghuo then slipped inside and ignored Han Muzi and Yan completely.

The agent was anxious and was about to go after her, but Yan stopped him. “Hi, are you Agent Chen?”

The agent only then realized the two people standing by the door. He was puzzled when he saw them. “You are?”

Yan immediately introduced themselves. “This is our designer, Shelly, and I’m her assistant, Yan.”

Agent Chen immediately understood as he heard that. “So you are Shelly, the designer. Hi, I’m Chen Fei, Lin Xinghuo’s agent.”

“Hello.” Han Muzi reached her arm out.

They shook hands, and Chen Fei said, “Xinghuo just went in. Let’s go in as well.”

After they went in, Lin Xinghuo, who was hiding behind a pillar, quickly dashed out as she saw Chen Fei walking over. “Fei, what took you so long? These two are?”

Lin Xinghuo’s eyes glimmered as she saw Han Muzi.

“Are you Shelly?”

Hearing that, Han Muzi froze and looked at her in surprise.

“Hi, do you know me?”

Lin Xinghuo pulled her mask off and smiled at her.

“I remember you!”

Remember me? Han Muzi was puzzled. What does she mean?

“I attended a fashion week when I was overseas, and the outfit I liked was designed by Shelly. I even asked one of the staff who Shelly was, and I bumped into you at the VIP table. You are so good-looking that I remembered you at one glance.”

Lin Xinghuo just blurted out a few sentences in one go, and it got Han Muzi’s mind muddled. Yan, who was at the side, couldn’t help but widen her eyes. “Wow, you actually met before overseas.”

“I know, right? I didn’t expect that as well!” Lin Xinghuo smiled as she walked forward and grabbed Han Muzi’s hands enthusiastically. “I wanted to get to know you, but my agent took me away to catch the plane right after the fashion week. I’ve always regretted that I didn’t get a chance to meet you, but you actually came back this year!”

Han Muzi had attended many fashion weeks, and she couldn’t recall which one it was. After all, it all happened without her knowledge.

But Lin Xinghuo’s eyes were especially bright as she looked at her, just like how a fan looked at their idol.

She felt a little awkward since Lin Xinghuo was a goddess in many people’s eyes.

Han Muzi smiled awkwardly. “Thanks for appreciating my talent.”

“It’s inconvenient to speak here. Shall we… talk in your office?” Chen Fei, who was at the side, suddenly chipped in.

Lin Xinghuo immediately nodded. “That’s right. It’s inconvenient to talk here. Let’s move our conversation to your office.”

With that, she quickly put on the mask again and looked around nervously, as if afraid that she would be seen.

“My young lady, isn’t it a little late to realize that it’s inconvenient?” Chen Fei asked.

Hearing that, Lin Xinghuo glanced at Han Muzi awkwardly. “It’s okay. Let’s go.”

Han Muzi nodded and walked in front to take the lead.

In her heart, she was thinking that Lin Xinghuo was actually completely different from what she had imagined.

According to what Yan told her, she thought she would be a mature and reasonable woman even if she wasn’t arrogant.

However, Lin Xinghuo’s appearance and attitude looked like a little girl who just debuted.

She was friendly, passionate and infectious.

Thinking so, Han Muzi smiled.

That’s great. It seems like there shouldn’t be any problem with our cooperation this time.

After they arrived at the office, the quiet office was soon filled with Lin Xinghuo’s peevish voice. She kept walking around the office as she exclaimed in amusement.

“Wow! The decoration is so nice. Isn’t this the painting I saw at an auction once? Oh my God, it’s actually here. Shelly, you are really rich! Hey, this chair is nice too. It’s so soft.”

Han Muzi, Yan, and Chen Fei were all speechless.

The three of them looked at Lin Xinghuo without knowing how to react.

Chen Fei couldn’t help but speak after a while. “I’m really sorry. This girl, Xinghuo…” He didn’t know how to continue his sentence. He couldn’t do something like slandering the celebrity under his management, but it seemed embarrassing to not say a thing when Lin Xinghuo was acting like that.

Han Muzi smiled instead. “It’s fine. Miss Lin’s pure and innocent character is very rare.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 387

“It’s fine as long as you understand, haha.” Chen Fei tried to joke it off in embarrassment.

Yan felt rather awkward observing her from the side. As far as I knew, Lin Xinghuo wasn’t someone like this. The things she went through made others feel as if she should be the calm and collected type.

Who would have expected her actual personality to be the complete opposite?

However… this way, it’ll be easier to get along.

“Eh, is this your latest work?” Lin Xinghuo asked suddenly while staring at the draft Han Muzi left on the table.

Han Muzi made her way toward the desk while explaining to her with a nod, “That’s right, this is a draft I’m working on, but I’ve yet to finalize it.”

“Has someone reserved it?” Lin Xinghuo asked after checking it out meticulously.

Han Muzi was stunned for a while before shaking her head. “Not yet.”

“In that case, can I reserve it?” Lin Xinghuo flashed Han Muzi a bright smile while giving her a gaze filled with anticipation. “I fell in love with this design at first sight. So, Shelly, can I?”

“Huh?” Han Muzi blinked several times, as if still in disbelief. “But do you think my work is suited to your taste?”

“That’s fine. Shelly, do you know that I am a fan of yours? I truly love every piece of clothing you’ve designed thus far. I love this piece even more! Can I reserve it?”

Lin Xinghuo was so eager that Han Muzi couldn’t possibly reject her, and so she nodded.

“Of course you can.”

“Fei, quick, pay the deposit.”

Chen Fei was rendered speechless at that.

He stared wide-eyed at her. Isn’t this too fast?

I thought Lin Xinghuo would be fussy. After all, she usually has difficulty in deciding her outfit, and that is why we specifically requested for fifteen minutes to accommodate her within that period.

Who would have expected for this to be done in less than five minutes?

This was the first time Chen Fei thought Lin Xinghuo was an easy-going person.

However, he had seen Han Muzi’s designs and work before, and they were outstanding indeed, and her pieces all went to suited figures.

“However…” Han Muzi paused for a while. “For this design, my original concept is based on a family dinner. From what I’ve heard, I believe you’ll be attending a press conference, am I right, Miss Lin? I’m afraid that this piece is not suitable for that occasion. If you are willing, I can design another style for your press conference.”

Lin Xinghuo widened her eyes in excitement when she heard that. “Really? That’d be great! I was just in a dilemma since I have yet to find a gown for my family dinner. In that case, I’ll get to wear this during my family dinner!”

Han Muzi was at a loss for words.

Is she an angel sent over by the heavens as my savior?

My company has just started, but she’s already so supportive.

Han Muzi cocked a brow before smiling. “Well, Miss Lin, I’ve started a company, as you are aware. I will personally design your gown for your family dinner, whereas my team will design your dress for the press conference, and they will do it up to your satisfaction. As for this design of mine, treat it as a thank you gift for being the first customer of my company. What do you think?”

“Sure,” Lin Xinghuo answered promptly. She is more easy-going than I’d expected.

Meanwhile, Yan stared at Lin Xinghuo in surprise.

“You are so awesome. So I believe your team is great as well. Fei, get the contract out, quick.”

Chen Fei nodded, and he took out the contract, which was already prepared beforehand. “Miss Shelly, this is the contract. Please have a look.”

Yan accepted the contract immediately and started to read through it.

On the other side, after placing the draft of the design back on the desk, Lin Xinghuo started twirling around in the room. She then stopped right at Han Muzi’s front and broke the silence shyly. “Well… Shelly, to be honest…”

She hesitated for ages and could barely string a sentence together.

Han Muzi was rather confused and curious. “Huh?”

“To be honest, I am your fan!” In the end, Lin Xinghuo mustered her courage and voiced out the truth.

Yan, who was going through the contract in a serious manner, looked up in surprise.

“So, can I… get your signature, please?” Lin Xinghuo took a small notebook out from her pockets shyly before presenting it to Han Muzi.

Yan staggered and almost fell face-first.

Chen Fei, on the other hand, cleared his throat while looking away in slight embarrassment, acting as if he didn’t see what was unfolding before him.

If Lin Xinghuo’s fans learned that their goddess was asking for another woman’s signature… they would most probably find it unbelievable.

Nevertheless, the world was sometimes unbelievable, after all.

Lin Xinghuo had been in love ever since she first laid eyes on Han Muzi’s work. This time, when Lin Xinghuo heard that the designer was Han Muzi, she made Chen Fei to make time in her busy schedule just so that she could meet her idol!

Han Muzi stared at the small notebook which appeared out of nowhere, and she was rather stumped and bewildered.

I didn’t expect… to have a fan in the country, and she’s a nationally renowned goddess, no less.

In that instant, she wasn’t sure what to feel, but she still accepted the small notebook with a smile. “Shelly is the name I used when I was abroad, but now, I’m back home. My surname is Han, Han Muzi.”

“Such a beautiful name!” Lin Xinghuo complimented Han Muzi like a fan girl.

Han Muzi hesitated before thanking her. “Thank you.”

Han Muzi placed her signature at the bottom of the small notebook with a faint smile. After that, she returned the pen and notebook back to Lin Xinghuo. “I’m your fan too; can I get your signature, please?”

In that instant, Lin Xinghuo looked shocked to her core, and she covered her mouth in excitement and surprise. “Are you my fan!? Are you being serious?! Oh my god!! I didn’t hear you wrongly, did I? I-In that case, what are some of my work that you’ve seen before?” she asked.

Yan was at a loss for words. Since when does Han Muzi have idols? She has always been alone when she was abroad. How dare she have the audacity to call herself a fan of Lin Xinghuo? Shouldn’t she do some research before she sucks up to her?

“I’ve watched ‘The Weeping Song’, your first costume drama.”

“Whoa! ‘The Weeping Song’ is my debut work. I didn’t expect you to have watched that before. That’s also my favorite work.” Lin Xinghuo started chattering nonstop. She was on fire the moment Han Muzi confessed that she was her fan as well, and so she started chatting enthusiastically with Han Muzi.

Yan and Chen Fei took the chance while they were chatting to go through the details of the contract and finalize everything. Chen Fei paid for the deposit as well.

Ten minutes went by in a flash.

“Baby… it’s time for us to leave,” Chen Fei reminded her in hushed tones.

“Did you know…” Lin Xinghuo was still busy chattering away with Han Muzi.

Han Muzi chatted with a smile, as if she was coaxing a child.

“Xinghuo…” Chen Fei had a plastic smile across his face while he forced himself to sound calm.

Lin Xinghuo continued ignoring him while chatting enthusiastically with Han Muzi.

Chen Fei lost his patience and approached them while roaring, “Lin Xinghuo, are you not planning to continue filming?! Do you plan to get a scolding?!”

His sudden thundering outburst shocked the three women in the office. Yan was so terrified that she had a hand over her chest, whereas Han Muzi felt faint after the sudden shock because his booming voice caught them by surprise.

Lin Xinghuo’s face turned ghostly pale after the initial shock as well, and after recovering from her stunned silence, she somehow managed a chuckle. “Fei, you went overboard! Do you know that you startled Muzi?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 388

Chen Fei was rendered speechless by Lin Xinghuo’s reaction.

Haha, I am about to lose my mind.

“Hang on. Just give me another five minutes.”

Lin Xinghuo looked at Chen Fei with puppy eyes when she begged him, yet he appeared cold and distant, completely ignoring her pleas.

Han Muzi cleared her throat before suggesting, “Miss Lin, your appointment today was set to be fifteen minutes, and it’s about time… Why don’t you go ahead with your busy schedule together with Mr. Chen?”

Lin Xinghuo opened her eyes wide at that. “Muzi…”

“Why don’t we save each other’s contact and chat when we have the time?” Han Muzi was not anticipating for Lin Xinghuo to be fangirling over her, and so she had no choice but to whip her phone out while brandishing at Lin Xinghuo.

Lin Xinghuo nodded vigorously and took her phone out as well to save Han Muzi’s contact into her phone.

After that, Lin Xinghuo even had a small request. “Why don’t we… take a photo together?”

Finally, the two of them had their photos taken, and Lin Xinghuo held onto her phone happily while uttering, “Wait for me. I’ll text you soon enough.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Only then did Lin Xinghuo leave with Chen Fei happily.

While walking out, Chen Fei shot Han Muzi a grateful look.

Han Muzi smiled helplessly while sending them downstairs.

Once they were gone, Yan stood beside Han Muzi before commenting, “It’s out of my expectations. Lin Xinghuo is totally the opposite of how I imagined.”

Han Muzi smiled when she heard that before she remarked, “I’m with you.”

“Right? She has a good personality, but… she seems a little clingy. Who would have thought she’s your fangirl?”

“It’s rather unbelievable.”

“Muzi, we have an order now! Let’s share the news with the others and let them know that you’re capable!”

“We should share the news with the others, but not the way you think; we should be sharing the workload with them.”

Han Muzi turned around and continued walking after making that remark. The two of them chatted while walking together. “You should gather them, and we’ll have a meeting after half an hour.”

Yan nodded. “Sure, I’ll inform them right away.”

Han Muzi returned to her office, whereas Yan went to the team members’ office floor to inform the group about the meeting.

Zhang Yu’s expression soured immediately at the mention of a meeting.

“Why are we having a meeting again? How many days have we been working? Why do we have meetings one after another?”

Leng Yueyue was slumped on her table weakly while staring coldly at Yan.

On the other side, Xiao Yiyi was pouting unhappily as well. “We’ve discussed so much yesterday; why do we have to continue with the discussion today? Is she… trying to make us do things since we seem to be too free?”

With that, she glanced at Lin Zheng before asking, “Lin Zheng, don’t you agree?”

The cold and aloof youth remained tight-lipped.

Yan folded her arms in front of her chest before smirking at them. “So what even if she’s trying to make you do things? You are all staff members of the company, so you have to obey your boss’ instructions!”

“Tsk!”

Zhang Yu clucked her tongue unhappily, but she packed her things and stood up anyway.

Yan smiled in satisfaction when she saw everyone getting ready for the meeting. “It’s in half an hour’s time, not right now.”

She turned to leave after she was done with the announcement.

Once she was gone, Zhang Yu was so angry that she slammed her things on her desk.

“She’s just an assistant, but she’s so arrogant. Who does she think she is? How dare she act all high and mighty around us? Are you guys just going to put up with that?”

No one responded to her question.

Zhang Yu stared at Li Junfeng while calling out, “Li Junfeng?”

Li Junfeng cocked a brow at her while folding his legs. “What? What’s wrong with having a meeting? She’s not even asking you to do physical labor. You don’t even plan to sit at the table and listen to her, is it?”

Zhang Yu did not have a comeback for that.

“Besides, if you don’t go against her, she wouldn’t resent you,” Li Junfeng commented with a sly smile. “You went against her, so it’s only natural for her to return the favor. This is normal.”

Zhang Yu retorted, “Li Junfeng, you are taking her side because she’s beautiful, aren’t you?”

Li Junfeng looked utterly surprised. “How did you know that?”

“You!” Zhang Yu was rendered speechless by anger, and she ignored Li Junfeng after that.

Leng Yueyue, who was observing them from the side, burst out laughing.

After half an hour.

When Han Muzi handed the group their task, everyone was in shock.

“We already have clients knocking on our door?”

“That’s right,” answered Yan gleefully while having her arms folded in front of her chest. “You’ve read through the file; the client will be attending a press conference. Now that you understand the task better, start drafting the design.”

Han Muzi glanced at the date fixed by Chen Fei and Yan, and she pursed her lips before announcing the date. “Hand me the draft after three days.”

“What? Three days? Are you joking?” Zhang Yu stood up abruptly, and her eyes were bulging in shock. “How is it possible to hand in a draft in three days?”

Han Muzi looked up while staring somberly at Zhang Yu.

“What do you think?”

“We need at least fifteen days to produce a draft.” Zhang Yu glanced at the rest of the team. “How can we finish it in three days?” she asked awkwardly.

Han Muzi couldn’t help but smile when she heard that.

“In that case, you tell me—you need fifteen days for a draft, so how long will it take to produce the final version? After that is completed, there’s the manufacturing process. Do you think that the client will wait for so long?”

“I…”

“The submission date is clearly written in the file. Everyone, please have a look.”

The group opened the file to scan the documents, and it turned out that the press conference was in half a month’s time, which was exactly fifteen days. It meant that they would have to finish the draft, set a final version, and have manufacture completed within fifteen days.

“Mm-hmm, we’ll be quite pressed for time,” commented Li Junfeng quietly after reading the file and closing the folder.

Zhang Yu, who was nearby, was unhappy when she heard that. “We are not ‘quite pressed for time’; we have not enough time at all! Fifteen days isn’t enough to even finalize the final version!”

“We have a large team, so is fifteen days not enough?” Han Muzi cocked a brow at them while scanning everyone at the table. “In the past, everyone has worked as a designer. Have you forgotten the concept as a designer? Our job is to fulfill the client’s wishes. This is the difference between receiving orders and designing for yourself. If you are confident with your work, you can absolutely design a piece of clothing according to your personal preference and then put it out on the market. However, we are in a different situation now, because we are now a company, and we are a team. Our clients have needs, and we have to suit their time and preferences.”

Han Muzi’s voice was calm but powerful.

“This is just one product, and you have so many members in the team, so you can communicate more with each other. We will have another meeting here after three days at 10AM. I hope I will see what I want in your hands by then. Meeting is adjourned.”

With that, Han Muzi lowered her gaze and started to pack her things.

Leng Yueyue gathered her things and stood up unhappily, and she left straight away.

Yan stared at her back view while remarking, “Well, Leng Yueyue seems rather quiet today.”

Is it that useful to bribe others? But she doesn’t look as if she’s been bribed, Yan thought as she shot Han Muzi a strange look.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 389

“Let’s go.” Han Muzi left the conference room after packing her things.

Zhang Yu, who was still in the conference room, lost her cool and blurted, “How many days has this company been in operation? But here she is, receiving orders from clients. I suppose President Han must have procured the client for her.”

After that, Zhang Yu folded her arms in front of her chest and smirked. “She’s a woman who functions by relying on another man; she has no capabilities at all, but she has the audacity to order us around.”

No one agreed with Zhang Yu, making her feel slightly embarrassed to be all on her own, and so she scanned the room.

“Do you guys disagree with me?”

Li Junfeng smiled in response. “If I had the resources, and a beautiful woman like her was willing to rely on me, I’d be more than happy to give her the world.”

“You! You are just shameless and disgusting! Why do you even yearn for such a woman? Do you even know how many times she’s been played with?”

Shu Guo’er kept her documents in the folder before glancing at Zhang Yu helplessly. “Zhang Yu, you seem unhappy to be working here. Why don’t you… quit?”

Zhang Yu glared at her ferociously when she heard that. “What do you mean? Are you chasing me away? Shu Guo’er, since when is it your turn to speak?”

Shu Guo’er held her cheeks between her hands before sighing deeply.

“It’s not my place to say anything, indeed; but you’ve been complaining in front of us constantly. We have all received our salary beforehand, but since you have so much to say, why didn’t you reject it when you first received your salary?”

“I-I…” stammered Zhang Yu.

“Shu Guo’er, that’s not right. Previously, when President Han’s assistant, Secretary Su Jiu, came recruiting us, she didn’t mention that our boss would be this type of person.” Xiao Yiyi, who was sitting near Lin Zheng, took Zhang Yu’s side.

When Shu Guo’er heard that, she cocked a brow at her. “No matter who our boss is, isn’t this just a job? As an adult, don’t you understand of the concept of working after receiving money?”

Xiao Yiyi stood up abruptly before asking her in a raised voice, “What do you mean? Are you saying that we haven’t been working after taking our salary?”

Shu Guo’er smiled faintly when she heard that.

“I didn’t say that, Xiao Yiyi, so please don’t look as if you’re ready to fight me. Aren’t you a polite and gentle girl?”

When she said that, Shu Guo’er signaled with a glance at Lin Zheng, who was seated near Xiao Yiyi.

Xiao Yiyi regained her composure. Lin Zheng is still here, and I think I was acting too fierce just now.

Her expression changed drastically, and she sat down instantly.

However, Lin Zheng was done with arranging his documents by now, and he left the conference room with a blank expression.

“Lin Zheng!” Xiao Yiyi chased after him when she saw that. However, Lin Zheng completely ignored her, and so she took her seat again dejectedly while glaring at Shu Guo’er vehemently.

“Why are you glaring at me??”

“It’s all your fault that Lin Zheng is ignoring me now.”

Shu Guo’er burst out laughing when she heard that. “Hasn’t he been ignoring you all along?”

“You!”

“Yiyi, stop chatting with her.” Zhang Yu gathered the documents and approached Xiao Yiyi. “Why are you wasting your time speaking to her? Just let her be if she refuses to be on the same side as us. Let’s ignore her.”

Xiao Yiyi most probably shared the same thoughts as Zhang Yu, and so the two of them left the conference room together.

Li Junfeng and Shu Guo’er were the only ones left in the conference room now. At that moment, Li Junfeng was eyeing Shu Guo’er with interest.

“You are a rather capable woman. After observing you for some time, I realized that you are quite pretty. Would you like to have dinner with me?”

A trace of disgust flashed across Shu Guo’er’s eyes, but something seemed to click in her mind because she nodded promptly. “Sure.”

Li Junfeng flashed her a bright smile.

Since Lin Xinghuo liked the family dinner gown designed by Han Muzi, Han Muzi took the time to complete the final version quickly. After that, she got Yan to get Lin Xinghuo’s measurements immediately, whereas Han Muzi explained the manufacturing details to her.

Lin Xinghuo pestered Han Muzi on WeChat several times over this process.

Lin Xinghuo: ‘As a well-known designer; why didn’t you come over to get my measurements in person? Sob!’

Han Muzi: ‘I have to give Yan a chance. If I were to do everything myself, Yan wouldn’t keep her job.’

Lin Xinghuo: ‘Well, that’s true! Muzi, you are such a kind person! You are always thinking for others!’

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by her reaction.

Is Lin Xinghuo trying to act silly?

Han Muzi: ‘I’m still working. Let’s chat later.’

Lin Xinghuo: ‘Sure, sure, my goddess. Go ahead with your work.’

Her agent felt rather helpless while watching Lin Xinghuo sending text messages non-stop.

“Well, is this necessary? Even if you fancy her very much, shouldn’t you refrain yourself? What if she runs away thinking that you are a homosexual preying on her?”

Lin Xinghuo snapped back to reality with a start when she heard that, and she squeezed her cheeks between her palms. “I don’t look like a homosexual, do I? I just really like my idol. I’m sure she’ll understand!”

“Previously, a female fan waited for you each time you touched down at the airport. She always sent you messages showing her concerns, and she posted things about you on Facebook constantly. Weren’t you suspicious of her?” Chen Fei brought the incident up without an ounce of hesitation to remind Lin Xinghuo brutally.

Lin Xinghuo felt embarrassed, and her lips twitched several times before she waved her arms in dismissal. “Isn’t that the past? I had no idea how it felt to be chasing after an idol.”

“Why don’t you check the text message your cousin sister sent you? I recall that she sent you a message not long ago.”

“Oh, I read it,” replied Lin Xinghuo at the mention of her younger cousin. “However, I’m not interested in her blind date. Besides… how can you possibly meet someone good through a blind date? Just look at how silly in love she is.”

Chen Fei paused while searching for the right words. “That’s not true, because you might meet a suitable candidate on a blind date. It depends on luck.”

Lin Xinghuo was unfazed, and she proceeded to post her photo with Han Muzi on Instagram with a caption—‘I’m so excited to have taken a photo with my goddess! *heart emoji *tongue emoji’

Chen Fei was at a loss for words when he saw her post that.

Not long after she posted on her Instagram, Lin Xinghuo’s cousin sister, Lin Qingqing, sent her a text message.

Lin Qing: ‘Xinghuo, you’re online? I thought you were busy filming until now.’

Oh my, I forgot to hide my Instagram post from her.

Lin Xinghuo: ‘I was busy right up till now.’

Lin Qingqing: ‘Xinghuo, did you read the text messages I sent you earlier?’

Lin Xinghuo: ‘Let me have a look now. Oh, you went on a blind date… Is your date handsome?’

Lin Qingqing: ‘He’s so handsome! Xinghuo, have a look at his photo!’

Lin Qingqing sent a photo over in less than a second, and Lin Xinghuo cried out in surprise before jumping up from her chair when she saw the person in the photo.

“What is it? What is it?” Chen Fei’s heart leaped into his throat by her sudden reaction, and he dashed toward her to steady her on her feet.

“An excellent breed!” Lin Xinghuo praised while staring at the man in the photograph. “Her date this time is really good-looking! Why is Lin Qingqing so lucky?!”

She replied to Lin Qingqing’s text message in a hurry.

Lin Xinghuo: ‘So handsome! But somehow, the man looks familiar.’

Lin Qingqing: ‘You just realized that he looks familiar? He is the dream man of every woman in North City. He is Ye Group’s President Ye, Ye Moxuan! *grin emoji’

“Damn! Lady luck is on this girl’s side. How did she manage to meet such a good man? But… would such an outstanding man be interested in her?

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 390

“Ye Moxuan?” Chen Fei came closer to have a look, and his eyes bulged in disbelief at the mention of that name.

“What is it? Do you know about him? I’ve heard of Ye Moxuan, and he seems to be one of the elites in the business world.”

Chen Fei shot her a strange glance when he heard that, and he explained, “Xinghuo, I’ll have to say that you’re living under a rock; Ye Moxuan is not one of the elites in the business world. If you must describe him, he is akin to the big bosses in the business industry, and he monopolizes the market; well, at least that’s the crude way of saying things. If we are to be elegant with our words, he is the president of an empire…”

“He sounds friggin’ awesome.”

“Baby, you are a female star. Can you please not use terms like ‘friggin’ in the future?” Chen Fei asked her in horror.

“That’s odd. Although the Lin family is doing well… there’s no way we could procure a blind date with the president of an empire. Besides, if Ye Moxuan were truly as awesome as you claim he is, why would he need to go on blind dates? I’m assuming women are throwing themselves at him on a daily basis!”

Chen Fei pondered for a while and agreed with Lin Xinghuo’s theory. “Is it possible that your cousin was fooled? Or… she might have been daydreaming?”

Lin Xinghuo nodded solemnly. “I think she has been fooled; otherwise, why would such an outstanding man agree to a blind date with her?”

“Aren’t you being too harsh to your cousin?” Chen Fei asked as he shook his head.

Lin Qingqing sent another message.

Lin Qingqing: “Xinghuo, who is that woman you posted in your Instagram post? Your goddess? Is she a female celebrity as well? Why haven’t I seen her before?!”

Lin Xinghuo: ‘Oh, she’s not a female celebrity. She’s a designer, who just returned from abroad.’

Lin Qingqing: ‘A designer?’

Lin Xinghuo thought of something. Earlier, Han Muzi mentioned that her company is newly established. Why don’t I introduce Lin Qingqing to her as a client too?

Lin Xinghuo smiled gleefully and made up her mind. Chen Fei, who was beside her, wiped away the sweat beaded across his forehead because he had a feeling someone would be receiving the short end of the stick.

Not long after accepting Lin Xinghuo’s order, someone visited the company too. The person fancied her work after looking through them, and she requested Han Muzi for a designer’s evening gown as well.

Han Muzi welcomed all potential clients, naturally.

“To be honest, my cousin recommended me to you.” Lin Qingqing came clean with her identity while smiling warmly to Han Muzi. “I heard that you are my cousin’s goddess, and she introduced your work to me. After going through your work and designs, I truly think they are exceptionally beautiful.”

I don’t even have to guess who her cousin is… because I have a fairly good idea who she is.

Han Muzi smiled faintly while reaching an arm out to Lin Qingqing. “It’s my honor. Thank you.”

“No problem at all, and since you are my cousin’s goddess, you are mine too! I’m counting on you… for my outfit design!”

“Sure,” Han Muzi replied with a nod before glancing at Yan, who then approached her swiftly. “Miss Lin, may I ask if you have any specific requests for your outfit design?”

“Requests?” Lin Qingqing’s eyebrows shot up in surprise before she turned to Han Muzi. “The only request I have is that I hope Shelly can personally design my outfit.”

Yan was rendered speechless by her answer.

It turns out she’s here for Muzi.

“Well, Miss Lin, Shelly might be…”

“You won’t reject me, will you?” Lin Qingqing glanced toward Han Muzi. “I’m here because of you.”

Han Muzi paused for a while before nodding. “Sure, I will personally design for you.”

Lin Qingqing broke into a grin immediately. “Well, thank you. I can’t think of any requests for now. I’ll phone you later once any ideas come up.”

“Sure.”

Both parties then exchanged their contact numbers.

Yan was rather unhappy once Lin Qingqing left. “If you personally design for her, shouldn’t you charge a higher price? Why are you charging the same price as your team?”

“It’s fine; let’s take it as marketing for our company. Look, Lin Xinghuo brought in another client, Lin Qingqing. Who knows if Lin Qingqing might bring in more clients for us in the future?”

However… if Han Muzi had known that Lin Qingqing would end up recommending an old friend of hers, she would most probably have different thoughts.

The company finally stabilized under Han Muzi’s management. Although there were still people complaining, Han Muzi was firm with her attitude, so no one would cause any conflict despite trying.

However, the draft was sent back to the team, and Han Muzi requested coldly for them to hand in a new draft the next day.

However, the draft they handed in the next day was worse than the first one, and Han Muzi had to suppress her boiling anger in her chest while she placed their work on the table and scanned her team in silence.

“Is this the level of your work quality, my dear elite designers?”

Zhang Yu lost her temper when she heard that, and she countered in a cold fury, “What do you mean? What’s wrong with our work quality? You handed this to us once you arrived at the company. Do you even know these things? You might even be a newbie who knows nothing about the industry. So how dare you have the audacity to order us around?”

Han Muzi shot her an icy look when she heard that.

Her stare was so cold that it stunned Zhang Yu to the spot.

Zhang Yu most probably sensed the intimidating aura through Han Muzi’s stare, and she flinched involuntarily. However, she fought back anyway. “Am I wrong? What are you capable of designing? Who are you to claim that our work and quality is subpar?”

Han Muzi remained silent, and she handed the draft to Yan. “Make some copies and hand one to each of them.”

Yan went ahead to have the original draft copied.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yu thought that she touched a nerve, and that was why Han Muzi did not have the courage to fight back. Thus, she raised her voice arrogantly. “I’ve touched a nerve, haven’t I? You don’t know how to design at all, do you?”

Leng Yueyue smiled with her eyes narrowed while commenting, “If you have complaints about our work, why don’t you design one yourself? This is just a draft, and if you’re so fussy, I’d like to see how skillful and capable you are.”

Han Muzi remained silent despite the jeering remarks they threw at her, and she waited patiently in silence.

Soon, Yan returned and started distributing the copied draft to everyone at the table.

Han Muzi spread out the original draft and looked through them one after another.

“I did not limit you guys, and I allowed all of you to design an evening dress suited for Lin Xinghuo after discussing among yourselves because I was giving you the chance to find out what stands out and works for her. Plus, you were all expected to accentuate the proportions of her body shape to perfection. True enough, you guys managed the body shape aspect well, but you have all neglected an important point.”

“This is such a joke.” Zhang Yu laughed aloud. “You have just said it yourself that we have managed the body shape proportions; in that case, what else do you have to comment?”

Han Muzi glanced at Zhang Yu calmly before continuing, “Zhang Yu, I believe you did not try to understand Lin Xinghuo before designing this evening gown.”

Zhang Yu paused for a bit. How did she know that?

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

“First of all, your style is not suited for Lin Xinghuo’s temperament. Judging by your draft, your design belongs to an energetic and bubbly style; it’s more suited for a petite young girl who has just debuted in the industry.”
