Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 981

Mother-in-law… Ye Moxuan’s mother—Song Xin. This person… Ye Moxuan has brought her up to me before.

It was when Ye Moxuan and Ye Linhan first fought with each other. When she heard about her from Ye Moxuan, she felt that this mother-in-law of hers that she had never met before had a strong character—as soon as she discovered the affair, she asked for a divorce, then never saw him again. Such a decisive and resolute character was admirable to Han Muzi.

That was why back then, Ye Moxuan abhorred Ye Linhan. Just that…

“I’m going off tangent, and these are only my thoughts. There are no ‘ifs’ in this world; if there are, so many people would not die, and things would not be what they are now. No matter what, it’s nice that we can all be together today.”

Song An continued to wipe off her tears before she whispered, “Everything in this world is fated. When my sister and I decided to run away from home, my sister was destined to meet a heartless man who would have an affair behind her back, and Ye Moxuan was also destined to be brought home by people from the Ye family. Then… he was also destined to meet you.”

Han Muzi remained quiet.

“Everything that happens has a cause and an effect,” Song An closed her eyes and continued mumbling.

“Aunty, what is done is done. Let’s not think about it anymore.” Han Muzi went up to her and gently patted Song An’s shoulders.

“Alright, I know.” Song An went up to the sink and washed her face. She then let out a gentle smile. “It’s all good now. Let’s go back.”

“Aunty, there’s something I would like to speak to you about here.”

“What’s the matter?”

Han Muzi looked at her and hesitated for a while before telling her what Ye Moxuan and she had decided.

After she finished, Song An still had a normal look on her face. “For sure. It’s between the two of you. You two can decide that.”

Han Muzi was slightly surprised that Song An would accept it so easily. “Aunty, I—”

“You’re worried that the old man would not agree, aren’t you? Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, I’ll make sure he’s convinced, no matter how stubborn he is.” As she said this, she rubbed her fist. “Unless he wants to abandon me as his daughter, otherwise I can still decide for the both of you.”

“Honestly speaking, I’m afraid that Grandfather would not be happy. After all, he’s quite elderly…”

“I have an idea.”

“What is it?”

“That grumpy old man only cares about his precious great-grandson now. If you two are willing, you can leave Little Bean here to be with him.”

“No!” Immediately, Han Muzi shook her head firmly. She could not take advantage of Little Bean by leaving him here for her interests. This was not something she could do as it would deprive him of his freedom.

“I knew you would not agree to that; I was just saying. Please don’t mind me. When the time comes, please just fly home with the kid and Ye Moxuan; I’ll take care of the rest.” What she meant was that Han Muzi could do whatever she wanted without considering the consequences as she would help them take care of whatever that would transpire. She was such a responsible aunt.

When the two came back to the table, the atmosphere did not feel quite right. Han Muzi did not think too much as she thought it was caused by what Song An did earlier. Who knew that, not long after they were seated, Yuchi Jin’s gaze fell on Han Muzi; his gaze was as sharp as a knife, making Han Muzi worry. What’s going on? I just left for the bathroom to find Song An and bring her back. Did I do anything that offended him? Or was Little Bean not able to help me put in a good word?

Even though Han Muzi had many questions, she did not have the boldness to speak up and ask; she could only put up with his stare. After dinner was over, Yuchi Jin suddenly said to her, “Please come to the study with me.”

Han Muzi looked up to make sure that Yuchi Jin was looking at her and talking to her. But, why did he ask her to go to the study out of the blue?

Perhaps that might be a good idea, as whatever reason Yuchi Jin suddenly asked her to go to the study for, she had something to tell him as well. So, it might not be a bad idea after all. At this juncture, Han Muzi agreed.

But the cold voice of Ye Moxuan came from the front.

“If there’s anything, you can look for me, Grandfather. There’s no need to trouble her.”

Han Muzi was confused.

Yuchi Jin was probably agitated by Ye Moxuan’s overprotective actions, so he angrily responded, “What do you mean by troubling her? Am I troubling her by asking her to speak with me in the study? I know that you like her, but don’t get too obsessed with her.”

Ye Moxuan’s eyes were cold. “Grandfather, I’ve already made things clear earlier. You asking her to speak with you in the study is just putting her in a difficult position.”

“Y-You!” Yuchi Jin’s whole body began to shiver due to anger and he could not utter a single word.

At this moment, Han Muzi held on to Ye Moxuan’s hand and moved in front of him to block him. She then whispered, “Grandfather, let’s go to the study.”

Ye Moxuan frowned and grabbed her by her wrist. Han Muzi gently pinched his palm to signal him to let her go and whispered, “There’s nothing to worry about. It’s just a few words; I won’t get beaten up. What are you afraid of?”

Yeah. It’s just a few words. Even if it was just a few words, Ye Moxuan worried that his grandfather would say something horrible to hurt Han Muzi. This was the reason why he wanted to protect her by not letting her go. As she went to the bathroom earlier, she did not know what happened. He helplessly replied, “When you went to look for your aunt earlier, I told Grandfather about us moving back.”

This surprised Han Muzi, as she was wondering why Yuchi Jin had such a sharp look in his eyes when he looked at her earlier—it turned out that Ye Moxuan had already spilled the beans. No wonder…

“Okay, I understand.” Han Muzi nodded calmly and gently patted Ye Moxuan’s hand. “I’ll be in there for just a few moments. If you’re worried, you can stand by the door and wait for me to come out.”

After Han Muzi had gone into the study with Yuchi Jin, Ye Moxuan took her advice and stood right by the door with a serious look on his face. Standing not too far away from him, Song An saw everything and could not help but bend over and say to Little Bean, “Little Bean, look at your father. Doesn’t he look like an obedient lapdog?”

Little Bean did not say a word. Han Qing, standing next to them, also had an expressionless look on him. Hearing this, the corner of his lips twitched, then he turned to look at Song An. Is she really Ye Moxuan’s flesh aunt? Why would an aunt make fun of her own nephew like this? He would never believe it had he not seen it with his own eyes.

Little Bean blinked and naively responded, “Grandaunt Song, now that you mention it, he does look like one.”

Han Qing gave Little Bean a look. Forget it. Not only the aunt, now even his own son is making fun of him.

As Han Muzi’s brother, Han Qing felt this was not anything serious. But as a man, Han Qing began to pity him.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 982

In the study, Yuchi Jin sat at the desk, looking strict and deep in thought. Still, his sharp gaze was all over her face. Earlier on, when they were at the table, Han Muzi was already terrified by this look. Right now, as there was no one else around them, the look in his eyes had intensified.

“I suppose Moxuan has already told you what he told me at the table earlier.”

Han Muzi nodded. “Yes, Grandfather.”

“Hmph. It seems like he’s really into you!”

Han Muzi did not respond.

“He doesn’t even trust me, his own grandfather, and is afraid that I would do something to you!”

“It’s not like that, Grandfather.” Han Muzi gently explained, “It’s not that Moxuan doesn’t trust you; the person he doesn’t trust is me. He’s probably worried that I’d come across too strong and offend you, and when that happens, it’ll worsen our relationship. You’re his grandfather and the person who saved his life when he was drowning at sea. You’re his family, and he’s indebted to you. Both Moxuan and I respect you a lot, and we’d never think of you that way.”

These words touched Yuchi Jin’s heart. Looking at the sincerity in her eyes that knew no deceptions, the raging anger within him mellowed slightly. “Hmph. Good that you know.”

What Han Muzi said not only calmed Yuchi Jin down considerably, it also greatly changed his impression of her. The good word Little Bean had been putting in for her had made him feel that she did indeed go through a lot of suffering and he should no longer give her a hard time. But then again, these words came from a kid; he was not entirely convinced.

Having heard what Han Muzi told him just now, he could tell that she had a good attitude, and those words did strike a chord.

“So, Grandfather, about Moxuan and I moving back—”

“Since you two have decided already, why are you still asking me? You want to leave me, an old person, here abroad by myself, don’t you?”

Han Muzi shook her head. “No, Grandfather. My initial thought was this; if you’re willing—”

“Willing to what?”

“Move back… with us.”

“Not a chance.” Yuchi Jin instantly rejected. He continued, “If I were to move back with you two, who’s going to manage the company?”

Han Muzi did not know what to say in response. She had never thought that there would come a day where she would realize that having a large estate and business could be a burden. But that was only her thought; Yuchi Jin would never think of it that way.

“So—”

“How about this…” Yuchi Jin nervously rubbed his hands—this gesture did not match the image that he portrayed at all. “If you’d let Little Bean stay here to be with me…”

Han Muzi was startled; she did not expect his response to be exactly how Song An had described it. It seemed like he was not bothered that much by the fact that Ye Moxuan and her were moving back. As long as Little Bean stayed, Yuchi Jin would not care much about where the two of them were moving to.

“Grandfather, I’d most certainly want to help you realize your wish, but… as a mother, I’m not able to deprive a child of his freedom and thoughts. I’m afraid I can’t do this.”

Yuchi Jin squinted after hearing what she said. He looked somewhat displeased.

“But…”

As Yuchi Jin heard that she was about to steer the direction of the conversation and knowing that there might be room for negotiation, he followed up, “But what? Please finish your sentence.”

“If Little Bean is willing to stay on his own accord to be with his great-grandfather, I won’t stop him.”

“Good! Those are your own words!” Yuchi Jin quickly sealed the deal as if he was afraid she might regret it. “I’ll go and ask Little Bean about it. If he is willing to stay, you can’t change your mind by then!”

Seeing Yuchi Jin’s response made Han Muzi chuckle; he was acting like a child who was afraid that the candy in his hand would be snatched away.

“What are you laughing at?” Yuchi Jin became annoyed. “Is this funny?”

Han Muzi stopped her giggles and said softly, “Nothing. I think that you’re a nice person and Little Bean would love to stay and be with his great-grandfather.”

“Hmph.” Yuchi Jin unhappily threw a glance at her, but she could tell from his look that he no longer disliked her like before. Right now, Han Muzi was treating him with the utmost respect.

All of a sudden, he seemed to remember something. He opened the drawer and took out an exquisite box. “Come over.”

Even though Han Muzi was somewhat confused, she nonetheless started walking toward the desk. Then, Yuchi Jin was seen pushing the exquisite box toward her.

“This is?”

Yuchi Jin did not look at her. He just softly said, “Seeing how well you have raised Little Bean, this is my welcome gift.”

Welcome gift? Han Muzi blinked and recalled the first time the two of them met. She could not help but giggle. “Grandfather, if I keep this welcome gift, will you make me leave Moxuan?

Yuchi Jin remained silent. He was instantly stunned. He lifted his head and saw Han Muzi’s somewhat sneaky smile. This brought Yuchi Jin back to the first time they met each other. At that time, he asked Yu Bo to bring her money and ask her to leave. But now… she was using this incident to make fun of him!

At this point, Yuchi Jin was agitated. He put out his hand. “Then don’t take it.”

“Of course I want it!” Han Muzi quickly grabbed the box before he took it away, and she held it in her arms like it was a treasure. “This is the first-ever welcome gift from you, Grandfather. As your granddaughter-in-law, I’ll keep it no matter what. Thank you, Grandfather!”

There was such a stark contrast in her behavior, and that made Yuchi Jin immediately feel that she was quite a character. He did not know what else to say.

“Grandfather, thank you for today. I’ll go now.”

“Go! Go! Go!” Yuchi Jin waved his hand, looking annoyed.

Han Muzi then carried the box and left. After she left, Yuchi Jin appeared to look slightly sorrowful. Truth be told, previously, he was still hoping that Ye Moxuan would be with Duanmu Xue so that it would help the business when Ye Moxuan took over the Yuchi Group. But right now, he finally understood that some things could not be forced.

As nice as Duanmu Xue was, she was ultimately not destined to be with his grandson. Even though he was tough, he would never allow himself to break up this big family again. Fortunately, he had a great-grandson to comfort him.

Speaking about his great-grandson reminded him of the conversation earlier, so he proceeded to walk out of the study. He had to make full use of the remaining time he had before they left, so he could talk Little Bean into staying back with him. As long as this little guy is willing, the others can go anywhere they want.

When Han Muzi came out of the study, she saw Ye Moxuan guarding the door. She decided to make fun of him, “I didn’t know you’d actually guard the door just because I asked you to.”

Seeing that she was out, Ye Moxuan quickly went up to her and grabbed her by her arm. “So, what happened? Did he give you a hard time?”

“You b*stard, what kind of person do you think I am?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 983

Yuchi Jin was initially planning on talking Little Bean into staying with him, but the moment he stepped out of the study, he saw that his grandson was talking to Han Muzi. Not to mention, this grandson of his still assumed that he would do something to his granddaughter-in-law! Why is he being so unreasonable?

Hearing Yuchi Jin’s voice, Ye Moxuan lifted his head and caught Yuchi Jin’s unhappy look. He pursed his lips and remained silent. It was probably because of the things that Yuchi Jin did in the office before that left a deep impression on Ye Moxuan. Even at this point, Ye Moxuan still felt that Yuchi Jin would give Han Muzi a hard time.

“Grandfather, don’t you have other matters to attend to?” At this point, Han Muzi’s voice broke the silence.

Her words reminded Yuchi Jin of another important matter. He looked around and found Little Bean standing not far away from him. After that, he happily began walking toward Little Bean. Within a short time, Yuchi Jin was able to get to where Little Bean was. Little Bean, being a good boy, walked up to him. “Great-grandfather, please walk slowly.”

“Little Bean, I have something to ask you. Would you be willing to speak to me somewhere else?”

Little Bean blinked and unconsciously gave his uncle, Han Qing, a look. Han Qing blandly nodded.

“Sure, great-grandfather. Let’s go somewhere else.” Little Bean then proceeded to hold Yuchi Jin’s hand and walked in another direction.

After they were gone, Song An threw a glance at Han Qing. “Are you going to let Little Bean go with him just like that? Aren’t you afraid that your sister will hold you accountable for that?”

Han Qing looked indifferent. “It’s Little Bean’s great-grandfather who took him away. Why would Han Muzi hold me accountable for anything?”

Song An chuckled with her arms crossed. She did not respond.

“Aunty, Qing.” After Little Bean was gone, Han Muzi brought Ye Moxuan with her and called the two of them.

They both nodded while Song An noticed the box in Han Muzi’s arms—it looked especially exquisite. Furthermore, she did not notice that box in Han Muzi’s arms before she went into the study. Is that…

“Muzi, what are you holding?” Song An asked.

Hearing that, Han Muzi looked down at the box in her arms. “Earlier on, Grandfather gave it to me in the study. It’s a… welcome gift, he said.”

“Welcome gift?” Song An raised her eyebrows, looking somewhat surprised. She then gently let out a smile. “What kind of welcome gift is it?”

Han Muzi shook her head. “I don’t know either. I haven’t opened it.”

“Why not open it now? The design of the box looks exquisite; it may be some good stuff,” Song An playfully commented.

When Han Qing and Ye Moxuan heard that, their gaze also fell on the box. They were all curious. Everyone knew how Yuchi Jin had been treating Han Muzi, so they were somewhat curious as to what kind of welcome gift he would give her.

Initially, Han Muzi was planning on opening it after she went home, but now, after hearing Song An’s suggestion, it would be rude of her to not open it. So, she nodded and slowly opened the box in front of the three of them.

The design of the box was ingenious because one would not be able to open the lid until they had unlocked certain parts of the box. Han Muzi was a designer. Even though she worked in the fashion industry, she was gifted in any sort of design. It did not take her long to figure out how to easily open the box.

Once the box was open, everyone was taken by surprise. They saw a blue diamond necklace silently lying in the box. Apart from Han Muzi, everyone else was in shock. Song An was especially surprised; her face looked astonished and her eyes widened the moment she saw the necklace.

The blue diamond emanated rays of faint blue light under the lights—it was magical. It looked like the boundless sea, as well as the vast starry sky of the universe. It was mesmerizingly beautiful. At this point, the calm look on Han Muzi’s face changed slightly, and her lips were somewhat opened. She had never seen this necklace before. But after she spent some time looking at it, she found what made this diamond necklace stand out. Also, for a diamond of this size, it must have been worth… much more than she could imagine.

This… This… All of sudden, Han Muzi’s hands began to sink as if the box became heavier.

“‘The Heart of the Universe’,” Han Qing, who had been keeping quiet, uttered these words.

Han Muzi turned around to look at him while Ye Moxuan nodded his head. “That’s right. This is the ‘The Heart of the Universe’.”

The Heart of the Universe? Why does it have such a majestic name? But Han Muzi felt strange as to why a necklace that was so beautiful had such a name. Was there any special meaning?

Song An saw the necklace, and tears began to flood her eyes. She looked somewhat emotionally stirred up.

“It seems like Aunty Song’s pretty familiar with this necklace.” Han Qing threw a look at Song An and put her on the spot, hoping that she could give them an explanation.

Just as everyone’s eyes were on Song An, she came back to her senses and resisted the tears that were already in her eyes. She let out a gentle smile. “That’s right. I know this necklace well…” She contemplated for a moment, appearing to be thinking about how she could put her thoughts into words. A few moments after, she responded, “Before my mother passed away, this necklace belonged to her. This was a gift from the old man to her, and her favorite one throughout her whole life. But… after she fell sick, she passed it to my sister, saying that she didn’t want her sickness to be attached to this beautiful diamond.”

At this point, Song An paused for a bit before continuing, “So, strictly speaking, this was my sister’s wedding gift. Just that, when we left home, my sister left this necklace here and didn’t bring it with her. This was because she knew how important this necklace is to my parents… No matter how upset she was, she had never allowed herself to bring such a meaningful item with her. So, after we left, this necklace has been sitting here at the Yuchi residence. I didn’t expect… the old man to still have it.” It was even locked in such an exquisite box.

All of a sudden, Song An’s hatred toward Yuchi Jin had decreased. At least he knew to hold on to these things. This showed that he had never forgotten everything that happened in the past.

These words caused Han Muzi to finally understand the origin of this necklace. She was stunned for a moment before giving the box to Song An. “Aunty, this gift is too precious. Since it belonged to your sister, maybe…” She dared not keep it. Had she known what was in this box was something so expensive and important, she would never have accepted it.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 984

“What’re you talking about?” Song An stared at her. “My father gave this to you, so you have to keep it properly. Don’t even think of giving it to me.”

“But—”

“But what? Even if this item belonged to my sister, she’s your mother-in-law. If she was still alive, seeing that Moxuan is now married and has formed a family, this diamond necklace would naturally be her gift to you.” At this point, Song An paused for a second, looking like she had just recalled something. She then gently smiled. “My father is doing this on behalf of my sister, so… that means he acknowledges you as his granddaughter-in-law.” Otherwise, he would not have given such an important item as a gift to Han Muzi.

This blue diamond was bid with a high price at an auction at that time. After bidding it, Yuchi Jin found a skillful craftsman to make it into this necklace and gave it a name—‘The Heart of the Universe’. This was Yuchi Jin’s best wishes for his wife. She was the only one in the whole universe for him.

When Song An first heard about this majestic name, she even made fun of it, thinking that it did not match the necklace. Why would a beautiful necklace have such a scientific name? Until later… after their mother passed, Yuchi Jin had never gotten with any other woman; even if many of them voluntarily came up to him, he would never be tempted. In his heart, there was only one woman for him, till the end of time.

At this juncture, Song An let out a gentle sigh in her heart. Her mother had good taste in picking a husband, but unfortunately, Yuchi Jin did not learn how to be a good father.

Meanwhile, Han Muzi was stunned by Song An’s words; she was completely lost in her thoughts. Does Yuchi Jin giving this necklace to me mean that he has acknowledged me? When he heard that Moxuan and I were moving back, not only did he not get upset, but he even gave me this necklace as a gift. What an attainment.

Han Muzi smiled and kept the box. It seemed like Little Bean did not waste his time here. He really meant it when he said he would put in a good word for her.

“Alright. Now that we know what it is, please keep it properly. It’s getting late, so I’m going back to the hotel.” After Song An finished, she turned around right away and headed out while waving at the others. “There’s no need to send me. I’ll grab a taxi.”

Before she could go far, she was stopped by Yu Bo. “Miss An, Old Master hopes that… you can bring your suitcases back to the Yuchi residence.” After all these years, Song An had been alone and never got married. Since she was still part of the Yuchi family, it was normal for her to move back.

Suddenly, Song An stopped walking. She placed her bag on the floor next to her and blandly responded, “Why would I want to move back to the Yuchi residence? Mr. Yu, I respect you, and I always speak to you with reverence. But about this… If he really wants me to come back, he should be here telling me this, and not asking you to speak on his behalf.”

Yu Bo did not foresee that Song An would get upset. He brushed his nose and awkwardly replied, “Miss An, I—”

“Mr. Yu, I know you’re trying to help him. But I’m still a human being, and there are things that I have yet to be able to let go. Anyway, I got to go.” As Song An finished, she took her bag and left right away without looking back.

After she left, Yu Bo was seen standing there, helplessly sighing and shaking his head. He then walked over to Ye Moxuan. “Young Master Xuan, are you guys planning on staying the night?”

“Not really.” Ye Moxuan faintly shook his head. “We’re leaving now.” He reached out and held Han Muzi by her waist. “Let’s go and grab Little Bean. Then, we’ll go home.”

Little Bean? Yu Bo became dazed for a second and responded, “Oh, right. Little Young Master would like me to pass a message to you. He said he’d be staying the night with Old Master, and he’d be back tomorrow.”

Han Muzi blinked and thought to herself that this little brat must have liked it here a lot after spending so much time here recently. Yuchi Jin must be treating Little Bean well for that little brat to be willing to stay here. She did not say much and just nodded.

When everyone was leaving together, Little Bean was seen leaning against the window on the third floor, tiptoeing to watch his parents leave in their car. Yuchi Jin saw this scene and sighed. “Little fellow, come over here.”

Hearing Yuchi Jin’s voice, Little Bean swiftly ran to him. “Great-grandfather!”

“Little one, do you want to go back but you feel obligated to stay here because of me?”

The expectation that was found in Little Bean’s eyes when he was watching the car leave had disappeared. Instead, he had an innocent and naive look on him. “Great-grandfather, what are you talking about? I’m staying because I want to. You’ve been really nice to me. Mommy said you’ll feel lonely by yourself, so I’ll have to spend more time with you.”

These words made Yuchi Jin tear up. “You have your mommy, but… I don’t wanna force you. So, if you’d like to go back, or no longer want to stay here, I won’t force you.”

After all, Little Bean was his great-grandson, not his puppet.

Back in the day, he wanted to control Ye Moxuan and thought that he could make better decisions on Ye Moxuan’s behalf. But now, as he saw how a little kid like Little Bean could sympathize with him and sacrifice so much for his mother, an epiphany came upon him. Love was about selfless giving, and not selfish possession and control.

He controlled Song An back then because of his love for her. Since he had lost his wife, his daughter would have no one to teach her; as a father, he reckoned that he could give her the best. She might not like it now and would even resist it, but that was because she had not understood his intentions and thoughts as a father. However, he had neglected what his daughter genuinely felt in the deepest part of her heart. Even if he gave her the best—so what? For a human being, the best thing meant the thing that one desired to have the most.

Like a man stranded in the desert; would he need silver and gold if you gave it to him? No. What he needed was a water source. At that time, Yuchi Jin had no idea what his daughter wanted; instead, he gave her what he thought was the best. In the end, everything backfired, and both of his daughters left him, and they never wanted to return after all these years.

Now, looking at Little Bean, Yuchi Jin was full of regrets.

“Great-grandfather, you’re not forcing me. I’m doing this willingly.”

That’s a lie. This little fellow was extremely understanding.

“Silly little one, do you think I’m so old that I can’t see anything anymore? Why would any child in this world be willing to leave his parents?” Furthermore, Little Bean was raised by his mommy alone; there was no way he would leave her.

“How about this—when the time comes, you move back home with them, and I’ll stay here by myself.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 985

Upon hearing that, Little Bean was taken aback. Originally, Yuchi Jin was planning on discussing this with Little Bean—whether he would like to go back to the country with his parents or stay here to be with him. If he stayed, Yuchi Jin would be less lonely. To make Little Bean stay, Yuchi Jin even made himself look pitiful.

Now that the talk was over, he suddenly felt that this was unfair to the child. And of course, being an intelligent kid, Little Bean understood Yuchi Jin’s intention. So he decided to tell Yuchi Jin that he was willing to stay here to be with him.

Mommy has already gone through so much. I can’t do this to her anymore. This was what Little Bean thought earlier.

“Great-grandfather, if I move back with Mommy, you’ll be by yourself, and it saddens my heart. I feel sorry for you. So, I’m not going back with Mommy.”

Yuchi Jin was moved. “You feel sorry for me but not your mother?”

Little Bean blinked and whispered, “Mommy has Daddy with her, but you… have no one. So I want to be with you.”

“Good boy!” Yuchi Jin was touched and he proceeded to pull Little Bean into his arms; his heart was filled with affection and gratitude. For Yuchi Jin, the long-lost family affection was finally found in Little Bean.

On the way home, Han Muzi worriedly looked at Ye Moxuan, as if she was hesitant to say something. Ye Moxuan lifted his head and his gaze blandly fell on her face. “Are you worried about Little Bean?”

Han Muzi nodded.

“Don’t worry; Grandfather likes him a lot. Also… if you’re unwilling to part with him, we can bring him home with us when the time comes.”

“But… Grandfather—”

“Since he’s already acknowledged you, he’d probably stop giving you a hard time, much less Little Bean, whom he loves so much.”

“To be honest… your grandfather is nice, and he saved your life. Not only is he our family, but he’s also someone we’re indebted to. I don’t think it’s too much to let Little Bean spend more time with him; it’s just that… Little Bean is still so young, so I feel like this might seem unfair to him.”

Young? Ye Moxuan recalled the time when Little Bean tried to justify himself—that was not something a kid his age would do. He even thought that Little Bean would think it through before making any decisions, and no one else could easily make any decisions for him—not even his own father. However, he always appeared to look particularly obedient and submissive in front of Han Muzi without any ulterior motives. This was why Han Muzi had no idea how horrible their son was.

“We’ll see. We still have time.”

“Mm-hmm.” That’s all we can do for now.

If possible, Han Muzi biasedly hoped that… Little Bean could move back with her, and if Yuchi Jin was willing, she would be happy for him to move back together with them. Only if… he was willing.

Xiao Su went downstairs to get a lighter and a packet of cigarettes, and he began to smoke while leaning on the balcony. As the cold air blew the cigarettes smell away, he decided to stop smoking and sit down on a chair to watch the starry night. All of a sudden, a voice came from inside the house.

Knock-knock-knock. That alerted Xiao Su, who immediately got up and looked inside.

Knock-knock-knock. Someone was at the door. Through the windows from the balcony, Xiao Su was able to see a figure standing in front of Han Qing’s room, knocking on his door.

Xiao Su then opened the door and walked inside, only to realize that the person was Yan. He frowned. Wasn’t this girl already sleeping soundly earlier? Why is she up now and knocking on the door?

“Open the door. Open the door please.”

Knock-knock-knock. As no one responded to her knocking, Yan began to yell while banging on the door for him to open it. “Open the door! Open the door! I know you’re in there. Just open the door!”

This time around, she began hitting the door with her palm. In the next second, a figure came up to her and locked her by her wrist. She was then pulled to the side. “What are you doing? Look at how drunk you are. Go back to bed.”

“Eh?” Yan widened her eyes as if she was trying to figure out who the person standing in front of her was. After a few moments, she let out a scream, “Oh, Xiao Su… I was just knocking on Han Qing’s door. Shh, keep quiet! I’ve something to tell him.” After she finished, she pushed Xiao Su away and appeared to be walking away. A few steps later, she realized she could barely move.

Yan turned around and found out that Xiao Su was holding her by her wrist. She began to struggle but Xiao Su was holding on tightly; there was no way she could escape. A few moments later, Yan wrinkled her nose. “Why are you stopping me? I’ve got an important thing to do. Let me go.”

An important thing… It was obvious that Han Qing never bothered to even pay attention to her, but she still treated him as someone precious to her. She got wasted twice because of him, yet the person who ended up being by her side was Xiao Su.

The thought of this agitated Xiao Su, and he began to hold her even tighter. “An important thing? Is a man who doesn’t even care about you that important? Can you please wake up and realize that he doesn’t like you? Why do you keep deceiving yourself?”

Even though Yan was drunk, she still maintained a bit of consciousness while she heard what Xiao Su said. Her face turned pale very quickly. She bit her lower lip and angrily stared at Xiao Su. “What do you think you’re talking about? I don’t need you to mind my business. Let go of me!”

She kept trying to break free from Xiao Su, who was holding on to her tightly and not letting go. She began to yell, “Let me go!”

Xiao Su did not respond. After a moment of silence, he finally loosened his grip.

Yan pulled her hand back before Xiao Su noticed a bruise on her fair wrist. He was perhaps grabbing it too tightly. Xiao Su hesitated to say something, but Yan snorted and walked away.

Seeing that she was, again, heading toward Han Qing’s empty room, Xiao Su began to feel upset and sorry. He then went up to her to stop her. “Don’t do that. He’s not home.”

“Back off.”

“What are you going to do? Do you think I’d lie to you? He’s not home so no one would respond to you; even if he’s home, chances are that he might not even want to come out and see you. You’re being overly presumptuous.”

Yan was stunned. She stared at Xiao Su in shock. “Xiao Su, who do you think you are? Do you think you now have the right to mind my business just because you went drinking with me twice? Let me tell you—mmph!”

Before she could finish her sentence, Xiao Su suddenly pinned her against the cold wall. The view before her eyes went black and she felt a warm sensation on her lips.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 986

It was a quick touch, like that of a dragonfly skimming the surface of the water. The touch felt like the wind; even though light, it was clearly imprinted on Yan’s lips. Yan, who was screaming and emotional earlier, instantly became quiet—probably due to the shock from Xiao Su’s sudden move. She was seen standing there stolidly, staring at Xiao Su who was right in front of her.

Xiao Su’s face appeared magnified and the two were so close that she could easily touch Xiao Su’s cheeks. And Xiao Su had just… kissed her. At this point, Yan dared not even move the slightest bit. Her mind was all over the place. Why did he… suddenly kiss me?

Xiao Su looked at her deeply with his hands on her shoulders. One of his hands slowly moved up until it reached her cheek. He then gently placed it there and asked in a hoarse voice, “Can I mind your business now?”

Yan did not know how to respond. Her eyes widened as she looked at Xiao Su’s deep eyes and heard his hoarse voice. For some unknown reason, her heart was pounding in her chest. Is… he… flirting with me? But didn’t he deny that he liked me before this? W-Why did he suddenly kiss me and even…

Xiao Su’s actions and words had awakened Yan considerably. She stared unemotionally at Xiao Su and slowly lifted her head. After making sure that Xiao Su was not going to do anything else, she proceeded to push him away from her. She did it slowly and cautiously, not wanting to provoke him.

In the beginning, Xiao Su did not have any reactions. His eyes were slightly closed while overseeing her fair, tiny hands that were placed in front of his chest to stop him from leaning forward. Then, her hands began to slowly push him away.

After being pushed about half an inch away, Xiao Su suddenly began to frown.

Before she realized it, he had exerted force to lean forward, and once again, pinning her against the cold wall.

“W-What do you want?” Yan began to get nervous. Xiao Su usually looked down-to-earth, but why was he so domineering all of a sudden? Her breathing became irregular while her hands were still placed in front of Xiao Su.

Xiao Su pursed his thin lips and continued to stare at her. “Didn’t you say I didn’t have the right to mind your business? Now, I’m trying to earn my right…”

Yan remained silent. Earn his right? By kissing me?

After Xiao Su said this, he lowered his body, while his eyes began to focus on her lips. The previous moment they shared was probably so amazing that he felt the urge to continue doing it. The previous kiss could be attributed to his outburst of anger, and this one would be a continuation of his pursuit of the forbidden fruit after he had tasted it for the first time.

Just that this time around, Xiao Su did not get what he wanted, for Yan had used a strong force to push him away and slapped him.

Smack! The slap sounded particularly loud and clear in this quiet environment. The sound was crisp and quick; Yan had probably exerted a huge amount of strength in this slap.

Xiao Su’s face was pushed sideways and his hair swayed as a result of the slap; he looked somewhat flustered.

Yan forcefully wiped off the saliva on her lips and angrily yelled at Xiao Su, “Earn your f*cking right? Do you know what you just did? You’re insulting me! Does kissing me help you earn the right? If I don’t fight it, are you gonna force me into it? Xiao Su, I had no idea you were this sort of person!” Alas, her eyes were filled with tears and they began to roll down her cheeks. She probably felt that she had been violated.

After being slapped, Xiao Su had somewhat come back to his senses. He did not expect himself to do what he just did due to a sudden outburst of anger. Seeing her in tears, Xiao Su was full of regrets. He nervously went up to her. “I’m sorry; I’m so sorry… I… don’t know what I was doing. Please forgive me.”

“Back off!” Xiao Su was about to pull her over with his hands, but Yan pushed him away before he could reach her. “Don’t touch me!” Yan’s voice began to sound high-pitched and she proceeded to take a few steps back until her back was against the cold wall. She then stared at Xiao Su apprehensively. This b*stard! How could he say… he didn’t know what he was doing after he had kissed me?

“After kissing me, you’re saying that you didn’t know what you were doing? Do you even… hear yourself? Do you think I’d believe you?”

Xiao Su was full of regrets when he noticed that, right now, Yan was looking at him in a completely different manner. He never admitted to liking her and never dared to cross the line for fear of what was happening now. All these years, he had been suppressing his feelings for her. He had never thought that… he would fail to do it today. She must hate me to the core right now. He might not have earned any rights to mind her business, but he had given her the right to hate him and be mad at him.

“Sorry… I’m really sorry.” This time around, apart from apologies, Xiao Su did not know what else to say to make up for his mistakes.

“What’s the use of an apology?” Yan shed her tears angrily and could not stop crying.

“So…” Xiao Su hesitated for a while before he opened his mouth cautiously and said to Yan, “So… let me be accountable, will you?”

Yan responded, “I don’t want you to be accountable! Please stop being delusional. I don’t like you!”

These words went into Xiao Su’s heart like a needle. He clenched his fists for a moment and then loosened them. “Alright. It’s fine if you don’t want to hold me accountable. But what is done is done; I’ve already kissed you—”

“Shut up!”

“In the future, I’ll do whatever you want me to do, no matter what it is—even at the cost of my life.”

Yan heard this and froze in shock.

“I’m really sorry…” Xiao Su looked her in the eyes and earnestly said it again, “Just now, I—”

Click— Just as he was trying to explain what he was going through that made him do what he did not mean to do, a sound came from the door.

Upon hearing it, Yan was startled. It must be Muzi and the others coming home. And… Han Qing must also be back. If Han Qing saw this, he would misunderstand.

At this juncture, Yan became somewhat nervous and hurriedly dashed back into her room. However, she stopped halfway and threw a ferocious look at Xiao Su. “Not a word about what happened today! Otherwise, I won’t forgive you!” After she finished, she managed to go back to her room and close the door before the others came in.

Xiao Su stood there idly and put out his hands to gently touch his lips. He looked somewhat sorrowful while he whispered, “Don’t worry. As long as you want it, I’ll give it to you.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 987

After Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan arrived home, and just as they were about to change out of their shoes, they saw that Yan’s shoes were tossed around. Han Muzi was stunned for a moment and thought that Yan must have run into the house. She let out a gentle sigh and bent over to put her shoes back on the rack properly before walking into the house.

Behind Han Muzi was Ye Moxuan and Han Qing, who also changed out of their shoes. Han Qing told Han Muzi, as if he just recalled something, “I’ll pack up now and leave, as I have a flight to catch tomorrow.”

Hearing that, Han Muzi looked surprised and stopped walking. “You’re leaving tonight? You don’t have to leave so early to catch a flight tomorrow, do you?” As she spoke these words, she had a reluctant look on her face.

Her brother had finally visited, but she had not spent adequate time with him because of all the things that she had to take care of. It was a shame that she had not even brought him to tour around this city. Now that the situation had finally stabilized, Han Qing was leaving already. He did not even want to stay for one more night.

Sensing her reluctance, Han Qing patted her head with an affectionate look in his eyes. “Are you sad that I’m leaving?”

Ye Moxuan’s eyes flashed as he saw this scene. He squinted menacingly. Even though he knew that Han Qing was Han Muzi’s older brother, in his view, Han Qing was still a male creature. The act of him patting his wife so intimately… bothered him.

Nonetheless, as much as Ye Moxuan was bothered by that, he could only suppress those feelings when he saw how reluctant and reliant his wife looked toward her family. It made perfect sense because he was her family.

Before she married Ye Moxuan, her family was who she relied on the most. After all, Han Qing was leaving tomorrow, so why should Ye Moxuan even mind?

“Qing, you’ve only been here for a couple of days, and so much has been happening in these few days. I haven’t had the chance to show you around…” She felt horrible.

“Silly girl.” Han Qing smiled blandly. “I’m your brother. If you’re busy, there’s no need to show me around. Also… being able to witness your family reunion makes this trip worth it.” After he finished, he retracted his hand. “Alright, let’s go in.”

Xiao Su was still standing there. Very quickly, he heard the footsteps as Han Muzi and the others came in. The three of them subconsciously looked at Xiao Su. They all had different thoughts when they saw the slap mark on Xiao Su’s cheek. Han Muzi was shocked and asked dazedly, “Did something happen? Xiao Su, your face…”

Xiao Su was stunned for a moment before realizing that there was a slap mark on his cheek. Yan slapped me so hard. Even a man like me, who has coarse skin, will still feel the pain.

Han Muzi stared at the slap mark and her eyes began to deepen.

“Nothing much,” Xiao Su explained gently. He took a glance at Han Qing and both of their eyes met mid-air for a brief moment before they split up.

Han Muzi did not know what to say, even though she did not believe that nothing had happened. Xiao Su was probably worried that they would start imagining things and cause Yan to get upset again, so he followed up, “It’s just that someone got wildly drunk.”

Yan forbade him to tell anyone about what happened tonight. On the other hand, he could not hide the slap mark on his face. Not saying anything at this point would cause others to overthink. So, he might as well come up with some explanation. Yan got drunk and became crazy, so she slapped him—this sounded like a perfect explanation.

“Wildly drunk?” Han Muzi could not help but frown. “What’s going on? She had just recently recovered from being sick; why did she start drinking again? Is she thinking of destroying that body of hers?”

Xiao Su smiled blandly and shrugged his shoulders, indicating that he did not know the answer to that. Han Qing, on the other hand, went back to his room and started packing without saying a word.

The living room became quiet. Han Muzi looked at the obvious slap mark on Xiao Su’s cheek and commented, “Yan has gone overboard this time. Let me get some ice for you to help with the swelling.”

Ye Moxuan grabbed her by her wrist just as she was about to walk over. She turned over. “What is it?”

“Your brother is leaving for the hotel, isn’t he? You should go and spend some time with him.” Ye Moxuan looked at her with gentleness in his eyes and touched her hair where Han Qing just touched. He patted her head for a few seconds and let his aura completely envelop her before retracting his hand satisfactorily. “Go. I’ll take care of everything here.”

Han Muzi felt like what he just did was odd but she could not quite pinpoint anything in particular. So, she nodded. “Okay. I’ll spend some time with Qing and be right back.”

“Sure.” After Ye Moxuan made sure Han Muzi had left and gone into the room, he turned his eyes and looked at Xiao Su. He then snorted. “Failed?”

Xiao Su was rendered speechless. He could not help but look up at Young Master Ye, who had a streak of mockery in his eyes. This look made him frustrated. He and Young Lady Ye also had a lot of ups and downs back in the days, so how can he mock me so simply now just because of his memory loss?

As Xiao Su was not feeling too happy about it, he decided to not respond to Ye Moxuan’s question. Ye Moxuan raised his eyebrows and flashed a sly smile. “You still have a chance.”

Chance? This word made Xiao Su feel that his life was nothing but darkness. If he had not done what he did tonight, he might still stand a chance. But right now, Yan must have hated him to the core. In the future, she might go the opposite direction whenever she bumped into him. To be accurate, she must have abhorred him. How could there… still be a chance?

“Young Master Ye…” Xiao Su spoke after a moment of silence, “I’m not going to force things anymore. Some people will never be mine.” After all these years, if he was fated to be with Yan, things would not have turned out the way they did.

Ye Moxuan’s smile disappeared a little as he heard that. He looked at him scornfully. “What? Can’t take it anymore after just a little hiccup? Maybe you should give up now and stop bothering her then.”

Xiao Su responded, “Young Master Ye…” Tonight, he had wasted the opportunity Ye Moxuan created for him.

“Idiot,” Ye Moxuan blurted out, and continued blandly, “If you want something, go get it. If you haven’t even tried, what kind of man are you?”

Xiao Su remained silent. Since when did Young Master Ye become such a talker? Is he teaching me how to court a woman? Xiao Su felt like he had just received a revelation and he looked at Ye Moxuan in astonishment.

“Go get the ice yourself, you useless tool.” After Ye Moxuan finished, he proceeded to take off his coat and walked toward the bedroom.

Xiao Su sat on the couch in a daze; he did not go and grab any ice. I’ll just… keep this slap mark then. This probably counts as a gift from Yan.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 988

At this moment, Yan was quietly hiding in her room. She was hoping that Muzi and the others would not have noticed anything. If they found out that she and Xiao Su kissed, she… wouldn’t know how to face Han Qing again.

Yan leaned her head against the door, attempting to eavesdrop on what everyone outside was talking about. It was a futile attempt—probably due to the distance or the fact that this door had good sound insulation. The most she could hear was the sound of people chatting outside. However, she could not decipher the actual contents of the conversation.

Yan was anxious and annoyed. What’s wrong with Xiao Su? Why did he kiss me all of a sudden? Even though… that kiss was just a light touch. But after that… he seemed to…

Yan felt the blood rush to her cheeks as she thought about that. When it became quiet outside, she felt perturbed. She was curious as to whether or not Han Qing had come back with them, but she felt too guilty to go outside. While she was feeling extremely nervous, a knock came from the door.

Hearing this knock instantly froze Yan. She reflexively straightened her body and remained silent. Who’s that? Who’d knock on my door at this hour?

“We’re safe. Don’t worry.” A familiar voice came from the other side of the door while all these thoughts were going through her mind. That’s… Xiao Su’s voice!

Yan calmed herself down before opening the door. Seeing Xiao Su stand outside of the door, she blinked. “Are you sure we’re safe?”

Xiao Su pursed his thin lips and calmly nodded.

“So… is Han Qing back?”

“Yes.”

Yan had the urge to go and find him. But if I were to go in this current state… he would definitely—

“If you want to go and see him, just go.” Xiao Su interrupted her thoughts while she was hesitant. “He should be leaving soon.”

Upon hearing it, Yan was surprised and decided to turn around to get changed. All of a sudden, she stopped walking. Xiao Su looked at her, slightly confused. “What’s the matter?”

“Forget it.” Yan looked down and stared at her feet helplessly. “I feel like you have a point. Being obsessed with someone has its limit. He never liked me, and he even somewhat dislikes me. If I keep throwing myself at him, it’ll only make him dislike me even more.” Since he was leaving, she should not go to find him and embarrass herself.

Xiao Su remained silent. What he said earlier was out of anger, even though that was also what he genuinely believed. After a few moments of silence, he explained gently, “I had my reasons when I said that. I just don’t want someone I love to get hurt, and I didn’t mean to make you feel bad about yourself.”

Yan froze before she quickly turned around and looked at Xiao Su. “You… What did you just… say?” Someone, I love? Am I hearing it right? Is he confessing to me?

Looking at her doubtful eyes, Xiao Su let out a gentle smile and nodded. “You didn’t hear anything wrong. I really like you.”

Yan replied, “But… how…” She covered her mouth, taking two steps back, and shook her head in denial. “When I asked you about it in the kitchen, didn’t you deny it?” She had felt that, since Xiao Su was a righteous and down-to-earth person, he would not lie to her. That actually made her feel that Xiao Su would never like her. But what about now? He just told her that she was someone he loved—what was this all about?

Everything that happened tonight was too much for Yan. Her mind was all over the place and there was no way for her to clear her head. “At the time, I felt that it wasn’t the time yet.”

And now? Is it time now?

“Now is not the time either. But I’ve kissed you…”

Hearing the word “kiss” gave Yan goosebumps and made her take a few more steps back. This action somewhat disappointed Xiao Su when he noticed it. “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have mentioned that word. Right now, I just want to explain to you that I can’t help myself when it comes to you, and I have no intentions of humiliating you in any way.”

Yan had finally understood what he was trying to get at, so she turned around. “That’s fine. I understand. You don’t need to explain anything anymore.”

“So are you… still going to be mad at me?” Xiao Su could not help but ask as he looked at her from behind.

This gave Yan the urge to slap him again to wake him up. Didn’t I tell him not to talk about it anymore? Why is he bringing it up again? Is this what a typical straight man is like?

“I don’t have time to talk to you!” After she finished, she proceeded to close the door, leaving Xiao Su outside.

Xiao Su’s initial plan was to test the waters, but he did not expect to get shut outside the door. He stood there and touched his nose, looking somewhat helpless. Whatever. I’ll let her hate me. It’s not like I’ll stay away from her just because she hates me.

While he was deep in thought, he heard something from the other side of the house. He looked back and saw Han Muzi walk out from the room with Han Qing, who was with his suitcase. Han Qing did not bring any suitcases with him when he arrived, but after a few days’ stay, he bought a suitcase, some clothes to change, and a notebook—all of which were now packed in the suitcase.

Since they were acquainted, Xiao Su would have to go over and bid him farewell. “President Han, are you leaving tonight?”

Hearing his voice, Han Qing threw a glance at him, and both of their eyes met. “Mm-hmm. I’m planning on staying at the hotel near the airport tonight.”

“He has an early flight tomorrow, so it’s more convenient to stay somewhere closer,” Han Muzi explained on behalf of Han Qing.

“I see. Let me drive you there then, President Han.”

“It’s okay, Xiao Su. You should go and get some rest. I’ll ask Moxuan to drive Qing.” It should be Ye Moxuan’s job, after all.

“Young Master Ye hasn’t been feeling too well these couple of days, and also, it’s late now. Please let me do it.” Xiao Su did not try to get involved in this on purpose, but he was genuinely worried about Ye Moxuan’s health.

When Han Muzi heard Xiao Su mention Ye Moxuan’s health, she felt that he had a point. But…

“Sure. I do apologize for troubling you,” Han Qing responded on behalf of Han Muzi while she was still deciding.

“Qing…”

“It’s okay. He can send me to the airport next time. There’s plenty of opportunities in the future for him to impress me. Why are you worried?”

She did not expect him to see through her. Han Muzi indeed wanted Ye Moxuan to get on the good side of her brother—at least when it came to basic etiquettes. But who knew…

“Alright. I’ll be leaving now.” After Han Qing nodded at Xiao Su, he was getting ready to leave.

At this moment, Ye Moxuan came out and commented blandly, “Let me go with you guys.”

Bang! Yan, at this time, also dashed out of her room. “I-I’m going too!”

Han Muzi was surprised. Does this mean everyone is going? She froze for a moment before asking, “Don’t we need… another vehicle?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 989

As the living room turned silent, Han Qing commented blandly, “No need. You are all not coming. I’ll just trouble Assistant Xiao to drive me there.”

At this point, Han Muzi subconsciously turned to look at Yan. What Han Qing meant right now was that he did not want Yan to go with them. Yan’s face turned pale and she stood there helplessly. She looked at Han Qing sorrowfully, almost tearing up. As much as she wanted to go with them, Han Qing’s words seemed to be aimed directly at her. Her chances of being able to tag along were slim.

Seeing Yan in this way, Han Muzi, as a woman, could no longer take it. But, Han Qing did not even look at Yan before he picked up his suitcase. “Let’s go.” He began walking away without looking back—as if there was nothing here for him to miss.

Before Xiao Su followed suit, he unconsciously threw a glance at Yan. Then, he let out a quiet sigh and followed along. It’s probably better this way so that Yan can give up on him quicker.

Bang! After they closed the door, Yan finally came back to her senses. Then, her eyes turned teary. Just as she was about to chase after them, Han Muzi came up and stopped her. “Forget it. Don’t go.”

Tears began rolling down Yan’s cheeks. “Muzi, why?” Why? Why isn’t he willing to let me send him off? Is there no possibility between him and me?

Looking at how sad Yan was, Han Muzi did not know how to console her. If Han Muzi could, she would want to help Yan bear some of her sorrow and sadness, but emotions did not work like that. Furthermore, she could not go up to Han Qing and tell him off for not liking Yan; when it came to love, things could not be forced.

When Han Muzi was considering how to console Yan, Yan pushed her away and ran back to her room. Just as Han Muzi was about to go after her, Ye Moxuan grabbed her by her arm. “Don’t go.”

“But…”

“Being alone is the best thing for her right now. Maybe after tonight, she’ll be able to think things through.”

Han Muzi looked at Ye Moxuan subconsciously. “How did you know…”

Ye Moxuan flashed a smile across his face, and once again patted her head gently. “The message Qing’s trying to deliver is clear. If she’s still oblivious to it, she’s just putting herself through unnecessary suffering.” As he finished, he patted her head again. Han Muzi felt strange and looked up at him. She recalled that this same spot on her head was also the spot that her brother was touching earlier.

“What are you doing?” Han Muzi wanted to remove his hand from her. She was not a little child anymore, and for him to pat her head like this felt like an adult patting a child’s head.

“Affixing a seal.”

Han Muzi was at a loss for words. It was exactly as she thought. She became somewhat upset and grabbed his hand. “Are you jealous of my brother as well? Why are you being so unreasonable?”

Ye Moxuan smiled, his eyes full of affection. In the next second, his countenance completely changed; he looked like he was having a cramp.

“What’s going on?” Han Muzi’s heart skipped a bit when she noticed that his expression worsened. Ye Moxuan grabbed Han Muzi by her hand and forced himself to maintain the look on his face with his lips pursed. “Nothing…”

Before he could finish, his headache intensified—it felt like thousands of needles were poking his head. He felt that certain scenes were going through his head, but he was in so much pain that he could not even stand still.

Han Muzi had never seen him like this before. She was shocked and her face turned pale instantly. “What’s going on? You’re scaring me. I-I’m calling an ambulance!” She recalled the last time when Ye Moxuan fainted all of sudden. With all the pressure that Ye Moxuan had been dealing with recently, what should she do if right now he was about to have a mental breakdown?

Ye Moxuan was in such immense pain that he could not utter a word. His hands were still holding Han Muzi’s hand, perhaps hoping that it would deliver him from the pain. Han Muzi did not dare to leave his side as he held on to her hand; she could only reach for her phone in her pocket and try to call an ambulance.

“Ah…” The pain was perhaps too unbearable for Ye Moxuan. He let out a groan and fell sideways.

Han Muzi was terrified. She quickly caught him before doing anything else.

Thud! Her phone fell to the ground with a loud thud. It might be broken but right now, Han Muzi was not bothered. She moved Ye Moxuan to sit down on the couch and began to break down as she saw his pale face. “Did you recall something? If it’s too much, don’t do it, okay? I don’t want you to regain your memory; I just want you to be safe.” If he had to develop a mental disability just to regain his memory, Han Muzi felt it would be better for him to never get those memories back.

Ye Moxuan’s head was still in immense pain—like he had just fallen through ice. All of a sudden, he felt a pair of warm hands holding him tightly; even though those hands were small, the warmth that they were transmitting was overbearing and incessant. T-This is…

“I’ve lost you once; I’m not going to lose you again.”

Pitter-patter. Some sort of warm liquid was dripping on Ye Moxuan’s forehead, and that gradually brought back his consciousness. When he lifted his eyes, a teardrop dripped on one of his eyes; this unfamiliar sensation caused him to shut his eyes subconsciously.

A few moments later, he began holding Han Muzi’s lean and fair wrist tightly. “Don’t cry anymore.”

Han Muzi was shocked and pushed him away. “Are you okay now?”

Right now, Ye Moxuan’s countenance and thin lips looked unusually pale. On his forehead were layers and rows of cold sweat, proving how much pain he was in earlier. Nevertheless, he was still letting out a comforting smile to the woman he loved. He whispered, “I’m perfectly fine now, aren’t I? What could possibly happen?”

Han Muzi stared at him stolidly for a little while before jumping on him and tightly hugging him by his neck. “I was so scared. Did you…”

“It was just a headache; I’m fine now.” Ye Moxuan put out his hand and gently patted her shoulders. He was the one who had an episode, but he was still calm; Han Muzi, on the other hand, seemed to have the shock of her life.

Just like that, the two hugged each other for a while. All of a sudden, Han Muzi jumped. She proceeded to push Ye Moxuan away and reached for her phone. “No. I can’t be at ease with you like that. I need to call an ambulance.”

Ye Moxuan did not know how to respond. He helplessly let out a bitter smile. “I’m fine now. Why are you calling the ambulance? To interrupt this moment?”

Han Muzi responded, “But earlier you—”

“I was just trying to recall something, thus, the headache. But it’s over now.” In between his words, Ye Moxuan’s hands were pressing her palm. He added, in exhaustion, “Don’t call the ambulance. I’ll just get some rest in the bedroom.”

After the spasms of pain he had just experienced in his head, he felt exhausted. This might be a reaction his body was having to the recent medical treatment that he had been receiving. Right now, Ye Moxuan felt that he would fall into total darkness the moment he closed his eyes.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 990

Since he mentioned that he needed some rest, Han Muzi would not oppose it. So, she cautiously helped him walk to the bedroom. Ye Moxuan was indeed exhausted; even though they were alone together, he had no more energy to make a move on her. Furthermore, Han Muzi took care of him exceptionally well by softly pulling the blanket over him. The serious look on her face was like the look of a mother when taking care of her child.

Ye Moxuan swallowed his saliva while he was looking at Han Muzi. He could not help but hold her by her hand before she stood up. He said in a hoarse voice, “Come up here.”

Han Muzi turned and looked at him as he suddenly grabbed her by her hand. “What’re you doing?”

“Let’s sleep together.”

Han Muzi’s face turned from being surprised to being embarrassed. She looked at him with a fierce look on her face. “Now is not the time to be thinking about that!” After she said this, she angrily pushed Ye Moxuan away and put his hand back on the bed.

At this point, Ye Moxuan began to cough—this terrified Han Muzi. She quickly responded, “Are you okay?”

Looking at how nervous she was, Ye Moxuan slowly put out his hand and placed it on her cheek. He commented with a gentle smile on his face, “You tell me. I was just asking you if you wanted to rest on the bed with me. What were you thinking?”

Han Muzi replied, “You… weren’t talking about that…”

“That?” Ye Moxuan gently squinted and flashed a sly smile. “Mrs. Ye, what could you be referring to?”

Han Muzi felt embarrassed—as if he had just brought her into a deep pit. She then fiercely stared at Ye Moxuan. “You did it on purpose, didn’t you? Do you enjoy making fun of me? Look at you right now; how is it that you still have the mood to joke?”

Seeing that she still had some tears in the corner of her eyes, he commented in a hoarse voice, “Come closer.”

“What?” Han Muzi asked, annoyed. “Are you trying to trick me again? I won’t fall for it anymore.” She was clearly upset. Moments ago, Ye Moxuan’s condition shook her to the core, and now, he even had the mood to joke around.

“I’m not tricking you into anything. Just come closer and you’ll know.”

Han Muzi ignored him and sat there without moving.

A few moments later, Ye Moxuan decided to get up. Seeing that, Han Muzi proceeded to help him out. “Forget it. Don’t try to get up; I’ll move over.” She immediately bent over after speaking and slightly pushed him away from her.

Ye Moxuan lifted his hand and gently wiped off the tears in her eyes. Right after that, he got up and gently kissed her on her eyelid.

Han Muzi was shocked by the kiss, and she reflexively closed her eyes. His dry lips coldly landed on her eyelid, and he gently kissed away the remaining tears in her eyes. It was a strange move.

The surroundings were quiet. Initially, Ye Moxuan was only planning on removing her tears with his kiss, but as he continued, his lips somehow ended up on the tip of her nose, then her upper lip. He was slowly savoring Han Muzi’s beautiful lips. After a while, he began to want more.

Han Muzi could tell that Ye Moxuan’s breathing had seemingly become heavier; his huge hands eagerly slid along her cheek to reach the back of her head. Then, his hands stopped there, pressing against her head. It seemed like he wanted to kiss her even harder.

Han Muzi was somewhat aroused by his kiss, but at the moment, with Ye Moxuan’s health condition, if they really did something tonight, she was not sure if Ye Moxuan’s body could take it. And most importantly… she was pregnant. Even though she was already three months in, the baby was still unstable. So, it was best for her to refrain from any sexual activities.

At this point, Han Muzi moved her cheek away and avoided Ye Moxuan’s kiss. As a result, Ye Moxuan’s thin lips landed on her face. He paused for a moment before squeezing her chin with his hand, perhaps wanting to adjust the position of her face.

Han Muzi stubbornly resisted her face from being turned. Ye Moxuan became silent for a moment before he abruptly tilted his head and kissed her again.

“Mmph.” She widened her eyes and forcefully pushed him away.

After being pushed away, Ye Moxuan fell back on the bed. Han Muzi then said, “You said you weren’t planning on doing that, but look at what you are doing now!”

“I wasn’t having that thought, but… since you—Mrs. Ye—mentioned it, I changed my mind.” Truth be told, he really did not have that thought in the beginning—his original thought was just to help wipe off her tears with his kiss. But as he started doing it, it seemed to have gotten out of control. Now… he wanted to be intimate with her.

“You liar. Look at you right now; go and get some sleep.” Han Muzi gave him a stare and did not move any closer. It was as if Ye Moxuan was a hungry wolf waiting to eat her alive.

Ye Moxuan stared at her red and moist lips for a while and licked his lips. “Can I get a glass of water?”

Han Muzi remained silent. Continuing to ignore him, she walked toward the door and then came back with a glass of warm water not long after. She passed it to Ye Moxuan. “There you go. After you finish it, hurry up and go to sleep.”

Ye Moxuan sat up on the bed. When he received the glass of water from her, he gently slid the tip of his fingers along her fingers. Whether he did that on purpose or not, it caused Han Muzi to immediately pull her hand back—as if she just got electrocuted.

As her hand was feeling somewhat numb, she turned and looked at Ye Moxuan, only to realize that his head was down while drinking the water. He seemingly had no idea as to what he just did. Maybe it wasn’t on purpose. Am I overthinking?

After he finished the glass of water, Ye Moxuan passed the glass back to her. She then quickly pushed him back down and pulled the blanket over him. “Alright, time to sleep.”

Ye Moxuan grabbed her by her hand. “Aren’t you going to stay?”

Han Muzi responded, “Not now. I need to check on Yan.”

Yan… Upon hearing this name, Ye Moxuan began to look serious. “I’m your everything. Is it really okay that you’re treating her as someone more important than me?”

“What are you talking about? Yan’s like a sister to me; not to mention, you also saw what happened earlier. I have to go and check on her.”

Obviously, Ye Moxuan just did not want her to leave at this moment. “Do you really have to go?”

“It’ll be quick. I’ll be back in no time.”

In the end, Ye Moxuan was left with no choice but to agree to let her go. Han Muzi then left the room after making sure that he was properly tucked up in bed and would not have another episode. Then, she went to look for Yan, only to find that she had locked her door.

This annoyed Han Muzi, who then started knocking on her door. After a while, Yan still did not open the door. As Han Muzi began to worry, she started yelling her name.

Earlier, she looked like she was about to cry. She must have gone through a lot. Now she’s locking herself up in her room—she’s not going to do anything to herself, is she?

After yelling for Yan, she still did not get any response. She then started to yell louder, “Can you please just open the door first? You can tell me anything. We can talk about it. Don’t overthink when you’re by yourself.” What she was worried about the most was that Yan would do something stupid.

Just as Han Muzi was considering getting the key to unlock the door, Yan’s voice came from the other side of the door. “Muzi, go get some rest. I need… some time to myself.”
