Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 991
When Han Muzi was about to turn around, she stopped and turned back after hearing what Yan said. Once again, she walked up to the door, planning to knock on it again. But, at this point, she recalled Yan’s words, and what Ye Moxuan told her earlier. Alas, Han Muzi decided not to do it. Perhaps Yan genuinely needed some time to herself to clear her mind. When tomorrow came, she might be able to think things through.
Many times in life, one would have to let go of things even when they were most reluctant to. If falling for Han Qing made Yan suffer and lose herself, then… if she was able to see that clearly today and completely give up on him, this might be a good thing for Yan.
At this point, Han Muzi whispered, “That’s fine; you go ahead and have some time to yourself. When you’re done, send me a text. I’ll go back and rest now.”
When Han Muzi went back to her room, only ten minutes had passed. She reckoned that Ye Moxuan would still be awake, but to her surprise, when she got back, Ye Moxuan was already sound asleep, breathing steadily in his bed. He did not even notice her when she walked over. It seemed like he was exhausted after these couple of days.
Then, Han Muzi proceeded to take a shower and went to bed quietly. Just so that she would not wake Ye Moxuan up, she lay on the other side of the bed. After a while, she felt the warm touch of a pair of hands on her waist. Before she could react, they had already wrapped around her tightly.
This frightened Han Muzi. When she was about to turn over, she heard a deep and hoarse voice. “Why don’t you come closer? If you’re just lying in the corner, what happens if you catch a cold tonight?”
“Y-You’re not asleep yet? How come…” Was he pretending to be asleep earlier? But his breathing sounded really steady, and…
In actuality, Ye Moxuan was indeed asleep before he got woken up by the sound of her shower. After hearing that sound, he was no longer sleepy; instead, he became increasingly excited because he started imagining things.
When Han Muzi came out of the bathroom, she smelled like the post-shower fragrance and moisture. Ye Moxuan was lying there with his eyes closed, anticipating her to come and lie down next to him. Yet, she ended up lying down at a spot far away from him.
Ye Moxuan then waited for a while for her to come closer, but the wait was futile. So, he decided to just go ahead and hold her in his arms.
“I was asleep, but I woke up.” He was right next to her as he spoke. The way he was hugging Han Muzi enabled her to feel the vibrations that his chest made, and his warm breath was somehow tickling the back of her ears.
Han Muzi felt uneasy about where things were going. She used her hand to push him back and heard him let out a moan. “Let’s just go to sleep. Don’t get frisky with me.” She charged him in a low voice.
Ye Moxuan did not agree with what she said, and his arm was still around her waist. He commented in a hoarse voice, “We can’t even cuddle to sleep?”
“No.” Han Muzi turned him down. “Being in this position for a long time makes me uncomfortable.”
As she finished, he let out a deep laugh. “How about… we change positions?”
Change positions? Before Han Muzi could react, Ye Moxuan had already turned her over to a different position. She turned around and came face to face with Ye Moxuan.
She did not utter a word.
“What about this position?” Now that he was right in front of her face and touching her nose with his, his warm breath was all over her face as he carried on with the conversation.
In the entire room, only the bed light was lit—which was not bright enough—but their proximity allowed Han Muzi to clearly see all the features of his face. Ye Moxuan was a gorgeous man, and he looked even more alluring under this dim lighting as his facial features appeared more prominent. The usual sharpness found underneath his eyes had turned into gentle affection. Looking at Ye Moxuan right now made Han Muzi’s heart pound in her chest.
Unknowingly, she started to feel thirsty. As she was no longer willing to look him in the eyes, she muttered in a dry voice, “No. You can’t…”
Ye Moxuan moved slightly forward—their lips were almost on each other. “Can’t what?”
Han Muzi placed her hands in between them when she felt that his chest was almost on her. She sounded nervous. “Your condition’s not too well. We can’t do it.”
Ye Moxuan closed his eyes and his thin lips landed on her nose. “If you turn me down again, my condition might get worse.” Even though he was feeling sleepy earlier, she was everywhere in his mind and body. They had been separated for almost a week, and now that they were back together, he wanted nothing more than to hug her and fall asleep. Having such a fine woman in his arms, it would be a disgrace to his manhood if he did not take any action.
Han Muzi bit her lower lip and closed her eyes. “We really shouldn’t do it. The baby’s not stable; do you wish to go to the hospital with me in the middle of the night?”
These words froze Ye Moxuan. Oh right, the baby… She’s pregnant now, and previously it was because of my lack of self-control that almost caused her to lose the baby. If right now I continue to…
Ye Moxuan pursed his lips as he thought about this. The lust in his eyes had faded. He quietly held Han Muzi tightly in his arms. Even though the embrace was tight, he did not do anything else.
Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief while she was in his warm embrace. He seemed to have listened to what she said. As much as she missed being intimate with him… before she delivered the baby, she would want no more accidents. It seems like Ye Moxuan will have to be a monk for the next seven months. This thought amused Han Muzi, and she started to tremble gently in his arms.
Ye Moxuan thought that he was suffocating her, so he loosened his arms, only to notice the smile on her face when he looked down at her. “Hmm?” Is she… laughing at me?
Ye Moxuan squinted with an annoyed look on his face. “Is this funny?”
“Isn’t it funny? You’re going to be a monk for seven months.”
Seven months… It saddened Ye Moxuan to hear that she was probably not going to allow him to be intimate with her before she delivered the baby. He did not have anything to say as this was for the baby’s sake. I’ll just have to wait for seven months. When the time comes, I’ll make sure I get rewarded double. But what about now? She’s laughing at me. This makes things different.
“Hmm.” Ye Moxuan squeezed her by her chin and leaned toward her. “Be a monk for seven months? Muzi, you don’t understand men at all.”
Han Muzi blinked and her long eyelashes were like little fans brushing his chest. “Are you saying that you’re going to find another woman?”
Ye Moxuan was rendered speechless. Another woman? He felt like her words had just choked him. His mouth began to twitch. How could she misunderstand what he just said, especially when he had put it so properly? Why would she think that he was going to look for another woman?
Ye Moxuan squinted and his sharp gaze caught her red lips. “What? Do you think that I’m the kind of guy who would fall for any kind of woman?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 992
Seeing that Han Muzi did not answer, Ye Moxuan repeated meaningfully, “Let’s put it another way: in your eyes, I’m a frivolous and untrustworthy person? Someone who’d cheat on his wife when she’s pregnant?”
Han Muzi remained silent for a moment. She was slightly shocked. Since when did Ye Moxuan become so good with his words? She was not able to construct a rebuttal.
Han Muzi suddenly thought of what happened in the past and remembered that he had a sharp tongue. He often argued until she had nothing to say, leaving her angry and frustrated. Has his true nature returned?
Han Muzi blinked, her eyelashes kept fluttering like two little fans. Her appearance almost made him unable to control himself and want to kiss her. However, thinking back to what she told him, Ye Moxuan remained silent for a few seconds and reached out to cover her eyes. His voice was hoarse as he said, “It’s fine if you don’t want me to touch you, but from now on, don’t look at me like that and don’t seduce me.”
Ye Moxuan could feel his body heat up thinking about the next seven months before Han Muzi gave birth. He would need to suppress his urges.
How am I seducing him? Can’t he see that I’m seriously rejecting him? Why is this seduction in his eyes?
After thinking about what he said, although her eyes were covered, there was not much difference between having her eyes covered or not due to the distance between them. She added with a faint tone, “Since when did I seduce you? I was rejecting you seriously…”
Ye Moxuan was speechless for a while.
“You’re the one who can’t control yourself. Like the previous time in the office where you were the one who wanted it, but still—mmph—” Before Han Muzi could finish her words, her mouth was forcefully covered by someone.
Ye Moxuan’s thin lips approached hers fiercely and were immediately removed as if it was a means of catharsis. From the kiss, Han Muzi sensed that he wanted to kiss her but did not dare to. He was afraid that he might not be able to control himself. After that, there were no signs of movement.
Han Muzi still could not see in the dark. She blinked and her eyelashes brushed across Ye Moxuan’s palm. She felt his body stiffen. In the next second, he got out of bed.
Han Muzi pulled aside the blanket at almost the same time and sat up. “Where are you going?”
He went into the bathroom without turning his head. “Shower.” Then, he slammed the bathroom door.
Han Muzi remained speechless.
…
The night was very dark, and the hustle and bustle gradually faded. There were fewer cars on the road, the shadows of the street lights were long, and some vehicles were running over the shadows. Xiao Su turned on his navigation and drove carefully.
Han Qing was sitting in the passenger seat. It might have been due to fatigue, but he closed his eyes and rested after getting into the car and conversing for a while with Xiao Su. There was no other sound in the car apart from the breathing of these two people.
Xiao Su suddenly thought that if Yan was here, the car would either be lively or fall into an odd silence. He was actually feeling a little uncomfortable with this peacefulness. The car soon arrived at their destination and stopped outside of the entrance of the hotel.
Han Qing, who was resting, opened his eyes as the car stopped. He then raised his eyes to glance at the scenery outside the window and turned his head to look at Xiao Su who was in the driver’s seat. “Thank you for making the trip here.”
Xiao Su nodded toward him. “You’re welcome, President Han. After all, you’re Young Lady Ye’s older brother. Young Master Ye was supposed to make this trip, but I came on behalf of him instead. This is also within the scope of my work.”
Since it was within the scope of his work, Han Qing did not say anything more and nodded before opening the door. Xiao Su also got out of the car and opened the trunk to help him take out his suitcase.
“Thank you.” Han Qing took the suitcase.
Seeing the man’s straight back, Xiao Su’s mind was filled with sadness and helplessness. Initially, he was supposed to just turn around and leave, but at the moment he could not help asking, “President Han, it seems that you aren’t in a good mood?” In the end, Xiao Su did not resist his urge and said something while facing the other party’s back.
Han Qing stopped in his steps and turned his head to meet Xiao Su’s gaze. “Why do you think so?”
Xiao Su did not speak and only stared at him with a heavy gaze.
Faintly curling his lips at him, Han Qing said, “Thanks for your hard work today. I’ve always been like this. Please be careful when you’re on the way back.”
Before he turned around this time, Xiao Su bit his teeth and said cruelly, “If you don’t like her, then I’ll take my chances.” He just wanted to test the waters by saying these words.
Doing it on behalf of Yan, he wanted to see if Han Qing would give a reaction. As long as he showed the slightest hesitance and perseverance, Xiao Su would retreat and stop disrupting Yan’s life. As such, he fixed his eyes on Han Qing after he finished speaking. A moment later, he felt disappointed. This was because he did not see any fluctuations on Han Qing’s face or his eyes—not even the slightest ripple.
“Assistant Xiao, you may have misunderstood things.” After a while, Han Qing finally spoke and explained word by word, “Yan is my sister’s friend. We’d inevitably run into each other, but there’s nothing between us.”
There was nothing at all. He denied everything in a clean-cut manner.
Taken aback, Xiao Su narrowed his eyes slightly. “You don’t even have the tiniest bit of feelings for her?” He did not believe it. The two had known each other for so long, and Yan had liked him for an equally long time. How could he be unmoved at this moment? Unless?
Xiao Su was thinking, President Han’s disguise is excellent, but because it’s too perfect, it’s making me have doubts. “So?”
With a calm expression, Han Qing said, “Regardless of whether I have feelings for her or not, this is my personal affairs. It has nothing to do with you, right?”
Xiao Su laughed at these words while feeling frustrated. He could not deny that what he said was right as he was the one being mouthy. “I know that I’m not in the position to ask you this, but it’s just that I don’t want her to get hurt.”
Han Qing’s sharp eyes fell on his face as if his eyes were deep enough to look into someone’s heart. “You’re only asking me this to make an excuse for yourself. You’ve forgotten that you don’t need my permission to do what you want.” After speaking, Han Qing retracted his gaze and did not look at Xiao Su again. While looking far into the distance, he said with a cold tone, “Since you’ve already asked, then I’ll make things clear: there’s no future between her and me.”
“Why’s that?” Xiao Su asked.
Han Qing smiled faintly. “Why do you like her?”
Xiao Su did not know how to reply.
“As you can see, there are many things that don’t need reasons or explanations.”
It was very rare that Xiao Su got to hear so many words come out of Han Qing’s mouth. Earlier, he had thought that Han Qing was angry. Unexpectedly, the man turned around and spoke so much.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 993
A cold breeze blew past, while the lobby manager of the hotel quickly came out and welcomed Han Qing after seeing him at the entrance. “President Han, you’re finally here. I’ve been expecting your arrival after receiving the notice.” The lobby manager was Chinese. The way he spoke Mandarin was a bit odd—probably because he had been here for a long time—but it did not affect the conversation.
Han Qing nodded his head to greet him, then said to Xiao Su, “I’ll take my leave first.”
Xiao Su had no reason to stop him and could only look at the hotel manager as he carried Han Qing’s luggage and led the way. After that, Xiao Su stayed under the cold wind for a while before turning around to leave.
…
As Yuchi Jin had allowed them to leave and even gave her an expensive necklace, Han Muzi started preparing to go home. She was not rushing back like Han Qing was. She discussed with Ye Moxuan for a bit and booked the flight tickets to go back home five days later as there were still many things here that needed to be dealt with. They would still be able to make it for the Lantern Festival when they got back.
Han Muzi thought that the necklace given by Yuchi Jin was too expensive and wanted to return it to him. Unexpectedly, Ye Moxuan said, “Since Grandfather has given it to you, you should just keep it.”
Han Muzi bit her lower lip. “I don’t think it’s fine; it’s too expensive. Moreover, I’ve checked the origin of the necklace after hearing what you all said…” The Heart of the Universe…
She was initially ignorant, but Han Qing and Ye Moxuan knew about the necklace. Therefore, it showed that this necklace was extremely valuable. After she went back, she looked for a chance to check it and found that ‘The Heart of the Universe’ was a diamond. It was auctioned off at an extremely high price and bought by a wealthy businessman, who then found someone to make it into ‘The Heart of the Universe’ to be gifted to his wife. At that time, besides within business circles, many people talked about it.
When the person wearing ‘The Heart of the Universe’ passed away, this diamond necklace was never seen again, and it gradually faded out of public view. After that, everyone slowly started to forget about it. However, its value did not go down over time.
After Han Muzi got to know about it, she felt that although it was made with a huge sum of money at the time, when it was successfully created and given to a loved one, this necklace became an invaluable treasure. It was the most precious, most rare, and hardest to safeguard treasure in the world.
“You’ve heard what my aunt said that day. The necklace belonged to my mom. If my mother was still alive, the necklace would still have been given to you.” Ye Moxuan’s tone was faint when he mentioned his mother. He could not remember the tragedy which happened that year as he had lost his memories.
Han Muzi remembered clearly the first time he mentioned his mother. His eyes had been full of sadness. She never would have thought that now… Sure enough, losing his memory might not be all that bad. Although some important things were forgotten, the pain from the past was lost as well. It was like… reincarnation. As long as the person is fine, what’s wrong with it?
“Even if you’re still uneasy about it, Grandfather won’t take it back if you return it to him.”
“How so?”
Ye Moxuan looked at her and reached out to grab her chin. “Weren’t you full of schemes when you approached me? How is it that you’ve become so stupid now? Can’t you understand something so simple?”
Han Muzi did not know how to reply to him. Unexpectedly, he mocked her. “What’re you talking about? Who says I’m full of schemes? Would I even need to put in so much effort if it weren’t for your speaking to me so coldly the first time we met?”
Thinking of their first encounter, Ye Moxuan had indeed been cold. Even though he did not remember her, he was not even stimulated by her presence. Han Muzi got angry and stared at him. He knew he had stepped on her tail and was thinking of doing it more to tease her. After taking into account that she was pregnant, and seeing her angry look, he stopped teasing her; instead, he kept the thought to himself. “Alright, I was the one at fault back then. It won’t happen again. As for the necklace, Grandfather gave it to you, so just accept it; you can even just put it on.”
“Should I not return it…”
“Why? If he has given this to you as a gift, it means he has acknowledged you as his granddaughter-in-law. Are you trying to reject it?”
“That’s not what I mean—”
“He has no one to give it to even if you return it to him. He’s already old, so who do you think he can still give it to?”
Han Muzi thought for a while and asked tentatively, “Why don’t I give it to Aunty?”
“You saw the look on Aunty’s face when she saw the necklace that day.”
Han Muzi thought about it carefully. When Song An saw the necklace, a lot of emotions appeared in her eyes—sadness, anger, and disappointment. If the necklace was given to her, she would probably look at it every day and think of someone.
There was no one she could give it to. Does this mean I’m the only one who can keep it?
“Just keep it,” Ye Moxuan told her.
At last, Han Muzi could only nod helplessly. “Then I’ll keep it in the meantime.”
…
Han Muzi had also told George about their plan to head back to China. At a certain point, George did help her a lot and was the one who lent her a hand when she was in a helpless state. Therefore, it was only natural that she would let him know in advance about them heading back.
Besides, George had been pretty quiet these few days. There was no sign of him even on WeChat. His account was quietly staying there in her friend list. She found it unusual considering how he was in the past. She was entangled in her affairs before, so she did not notice this problem at all. She had only discovered this when she was about to send him a message.
Han Muzi clicked into George’s WeChat Moments again only to find that the latest feed was before the new year, and he had not posted anything in these past few days. This… was a bit unusual. However, Han Muzi decided to wait a while for his reply, since there were five days left before their flight back.
Everything was as Ye Moxuan predicted. Yan did not cry or make trouble after she woke up the next day. She acted like nothing unusual had happened—she talked and laughed like she always did. She looked fine on the surface. However, Han Muzi could see her sad heart through her smiles. She felt a little upset but did not know how to persuade her.
“Muzi, you don’t have to worry about me. I might’ve looked a bit sad initially, but look at me now. I’m trying my best to adjust my mood. I’m not a weak person. I can take care of myself and I’ll get better after this. One day, I’ll forget about that person and be in the arms of someone else.”
Although she was extremely confident with what she said, Han Muzi did not believe in any of her words and just hugged her.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 994
George replied to Han Muzi’s message two days later. He was complaining in his WeChat messages. He did not intentionally disappear from WeChat, but it was because his phone was taken away by his old man at home. His life was miserable and unbearable during this time.
After Han Muzi heard him complain, she got to know that George had accompanied his grandfather back to China to celebrate New Year’s. He had needed to accompany his grandfather to meet his relatives every day. It was more like he was going on matchmaking dates rather than actually meeting relatives.
Han Muzi teased him when she heard this. “Isn’t this a good thing? He’s concerned with your marriage.”
George was howling like a wolf as he replied in a WeChat voice message, “Muzi, you’re making fun of me now. Imagine if Yuchi Shen’s the one who’s going through the same fate. Will you still say it’s a good thing?”
Han Muzi was not angry after hearing it and raised her brows lightly. “The two of you aren’t the same. The Yuchi Shen you speak of has a girlfriend, but you… are still single.”
George immediately cried after hearing this, “Muzi, why would you say such heartbreaking words? I’ve been so pitiful lately and you’re still treating me like this.”
Han Muzi was amused by him. However, George quickly recovered to his usual self. “Oh my, I almost forgot about the main point. You’re going back to China? When?”
Han Muzi glanced at the time when he responded to the message. “Well, three days later.”
“Oh, sh*t!”
Han Muzi heard George on the other end jump before he yelled in pain as if he had kicked something. He took a deep breath and said to her pitifully, “Please don’t, Muzi. It’s not easy for the three of us to get along so well. What will I do if both you and Yuchi Shen go back to China? I’ll be lonely and cold if I’m left alone.”
Han Muzi was speechless.
“Nonsense aside, let me know where you are now. I’ll go and meet you.”
Han Muzi kept quiet. She told George the address after hesitating for a while. He did not have his phone all this while because he was restricted, so he probably only got it back now. Sure enough, not long after Han Muzi gave George the address, he arrived.
When she heard the doorbell ringing, she watched the time for a while and wondered how this fellow could be so fast. Did he fly here?
Han Muzi took a look through her cat-like eyes and opened the door when she saw George was standing outside. When he saw her, he immediately gave a pitiful look and approached her with his arms wide open. “Muzi, I missed you so much!”
She stood on the spot in a daze as she never expected him to do that. However, before she could evade, George stopped and stood there with his arms in the air. After a moment, he passed her and hugged the cabinet beside her.
Han Muzi was speechless. Is he a goofball?
George was hugging the cabinet with a desperate look. He must have had a short-circuit in his brain as he almost went to hug Han Muzi. Even though he treated Han Muzi as a relative in his heart, Yuchi Shen might not think the same. By then, Yuchi Shen would only feel that he was taking advantage of Han Muzi, and George did not plan on dying young.
Han Muzi closed the door while she heard him ask in a whisper, “Yuchi Shen isn’t around?”
“We’re heading back in three days, so he’s been busy at the company.” They could only go back to China with a peace of mind once all the aftermath was dealt with and everything here was settled.
Speaking of heading home, George’s mood became sullen. “Are you really going back to China? Isn’t it good to just stay here? Muzi, since you’re already with him now, why do you still want to go back?”
Han Muzi took a look at George. He probably did not know that a lot had happened recently and probably thought that she and Ye Moxuan had a peaceful year.
For a moment, she did not know how to explain to George as the story seemed to be too long, so in the end, Mu Zi could only say, “This isn’t our place after all. We didn’t live here before, so I want to go back with him. Of course, the main reason is that our homeland is there. I also want to go back to the places we’ve been before to see if it helps him recover his memory.”
George could finally understand after hearing this.
They decided to go back because they hoped it would help Yuchi Shen recover his memory. He nodded his head. “It’s true. If so, then I have no excuse to make you stay. Otherwise, wouldn’t it be preventing Yuchi Shen from recovering his memory?”
Han Muzi gave a slight smile and did not say much.
“Sigh.” George felt depressed and sighed continuously.
Han Muzi took a step forward and walked in with him. “How have you been lately? How’s the matchmaking going? Has anyone caught your eye?
George suddenly gave a bitter look after she mentioned this. “Muzi, don’t tease me anymore. I thought I told you I’m in a bad situation and it’s worse than death itself? Others celebrate their new year full of joy, whereas I… was just depressed.”
Han Muzi took a glass of water for him from the kitchen. George could not help but give compliments after looking at the decorations around the house. “This house is a good choice. Yuchi Shen sure does treat you well.” After seeing Han Muzi hand him a glass of water, he looked sad once more. “Muzi, this isn’t right. I’ve come such a long way. Can’t I have a beverage or some red wine? Do I just get a glass of water?”
“You’ll stay for lunch in the afternoon. Is it wrong to serve you a glass of water now?”
“Say what?” George’s eyes lit up when he heard that he could stay for a meal. During this period, he had been eating food prepared by the chef back at home but he still missed Muzi’s cooking, so when she said that he could stay for lunch, he suddenly felt as if he was worry-free. “No, there’s nothing wrong! Nothing wrong at all!”
“That’s good, then. If you dared say it was wrong, don’t even think about eating here today.”
“Muzi, do we need to go to the supermarket to buy ingredients?”
Buy ingredients? Han Muzi shook her head. “No need. Someone has already gone to do so.”
It was as if Yan had suddenly turned into a whole new person. She would get up early in the morning to go to the supermarket to buy ingredients and prepare a feast every day. As many things needed to be bought, Xiao Su followed along.
“Someone? Who?” George scratched his head. If he remembered correctly, Muzi just said that Yuchi Shen was handling things in the company, so it did not make sense that he had gone out to do the grocery shopping.
“They’re my friends who you’ve never met before. I’ll introduce you to them when they come back later.”
New friends? While squinting, George immediately exposed his true nature and asked, “Any girls?”
Han Muzi was speechless. “I’m telling you; even if there are girls, you can’t have any weird thoughts about my friends. Keep your paws to yourself and don’t pounce on the people around me; otherwise…”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 995
George felt threatened before Han Muzi could finish her words, and he said helplessly, “How can you treat me like this? I think you’ve misunderstood me. I’m not that kind of person!”
Han Muzi had not forgotten his reputation as a playboy. The first time they met was in an elevator, and this fellow almost laid his paws on her. Does he think I’ve forgotten about that?
“No matter what type of person you are, a rabbit would not eat the grass around its hutch. Don’t you try to have any nasty thoughts toward the people around me.”
George replied, “Sigh… Understood! But Muzi, what if the people around you take a liking to me? Should I reject them, or should I accept?” George showed a conflicted expression after talking.
Han Muzi was speechless with him and gave him a meaningful look before she got up and left. George snickered, and then his WeChat rang at this moment. He lowered his head to check his phone. Unexpectedly, it was a message from the blind date that his old man introduced to him before. Sh*t, is she for real?
He had already clarified with her that it was all his old man’s plan after they exchanged WeChat contacts. They would just play along and exchange WeChat contacts, but they would not interact with each other ever again. Unexpectedly, she sent him a message on WeChat. George could not afford to offend a lady like her, who came from such a family background, as she would take it seriously; he did not have that in mind yet. He set aside his phone and forgot about it after taking a look at the message and marking it as ‘seen’.
Before long, Yan and Xiao Su came back. Han Muzi was about to get up and open the door when she heard the doorbell ring, but George had rushed out first. “Muzi, you should sit back down. I’ll get it.”
Before Han Muzi could reply, George quickly ran up to the door and opened it.
Yan and Xiao Su stood before the door while carrying the groceries in their hands. When they saw that the person who opened the door for them was someone unfamiliar, there was a look of confusion on their faces as they exchanged glances. Yan could not help but speak up, “Have we gotten the wrong door?” After speaking, she wanted to step back and take a look at the floor number.
As they were carrying too many things in their hands, they had directly pressed the doorbell earlier. As such, Yan thought that they had gotten the wrong floor.
When she was about to step back, George enthusiastically walked out and offered to carry the things for her. “You didn’t get the wrong door. This is the place. These things you’re carrying must be heavy, right? Come, let me carry them for you.”
When Yan stared at him strangely, George explained, “It’s my honor to serve beautiful women. It’s our first time meeting each other. My name’s George.”
This introduction made Yan stunned and speechless. She felt that the man in front of her was being very enthusiastic. What’s going on here?
At this moment, Xiao Su took a step forward to stand in front of Yan. “Erm, sir… you are…” Frowning, he was about to ask the identity of the other person when he saw Han Muzi standing at the door. “You’re back. Come in.”
“Muzi.” Seeing Muzi, Yan knew that she could not have gotten the floor wrong. She hurried in with the bags in her hand. Due to this, George missed the chance to be a gentleman and could only follow in with a sigh of regret.
The group of people entered the house, and Han Muzi saw that George started to flirt with Yan. “Pretty lady, what’s your name? I’m Muzi and Yuchi’s good friend, George.”
Probably feeling embarrassed, Yan glanced at him and said her name, “You can call me Yan.”
“Is that your full name?” George asked.
As the other party was too enthusiastic, Yan was a little put-off. She hummed casually in response, but George smiled and continued to say, “I don’t believe that this is your full name. But since you say so, I’ll call you Yan.”
Xiao Su was beside Yan packing things into the fridge. Seeing George continuously flirting with Yan in front of him, he frowned and walked toward him. “Sir, since you’re in the kitchen, will you be cooking together with us?”
George froze for a moment and looked at the man in front of him who appeared quite hostile. Taking into consideration how he protected Yan earlier, George raised his eyebrows and asked, “Are you two a couple?”
Xiao Su was about to say no, but Yan unexpectedly replied, “What does that have to do with you?”
Hearing this, George simply smiled and did not answer. At this time, Han Muzi could not stand it anymore and stepped forward. “George, come with me!”
“Muzi, what’s wrong?” He turned around and looked at Han Muzi, but he did not move his feet.
Han Muzi was so angry that she gritted her teeth and said, “If you don’t come out right now and continue to mess around, I’ll tell Yuchi!”
Tell Yuchi? Blinking, George asked, “It’s not like I was hitting on his woman. Why would you tell him?”
“You didn’t hit on his woman, but do you know that she’s the beloved aunt of Yuchi’s son? Do you think it’s appropriate for you to hit on her like this?”
The son’s aunt? George repeated these words silently several times, then he suddenly reacted with widened eyes. “What the f*ck?”
“Come out!” Han Muzi ordered again.
This time, George didn’t stand his ground any longer. He turned his head and glanced at Yan regretfully before stepping out. As a result, only Yan and Xiao Su were left in the kitchen.
After being quiet for a while, Yan said, “You should go out too. I can handle things by myself here.”
“I’ll stay and help you…”
Yan’s face was indifferent as she said, “Don’t think that just because you’ve been doing these things recently that I’ll start to like you.”
Hearing her words, Xiao Su’s eyes turned a little cold, but he did not bother himself with it. “I’m just doing what I feel like doing. I have no other intentions, so you don’t have to feel pressured.”
“No other intentions?” Yan glanced sideways at him. “You didn’t have any sort of intentions when you did what you did last night? Although I’m not smart, I’m also not a fool.”
Hearing this, Xiao Su smiled. “Why don’t I just stay and help you cook this meal? Do you have to put your guard up around me? If last night’s incident is bothering you, then I promise that there won’t be a next time.”
There won’t be a next time… Yan did not believe his nonsense. She did not even expect him to kiss her so suddenly that day. Although it was just a light peck on the lips, it was fatal. Furthermore, he was following her every day, giving her the wrong impression. Seeing that he was trying so hard to get close to her, was he courting her?
Unfortunately, Han Qing was the only person she had on her mind. Especially in a moment of dejection like this.
“I’m warning you; don’t take advantage of the situation. My emotions are in a mess this time around.”
Hearing this, Xiao Su seemed to understand what she meant and smiled slightly. “So are you saying that when you’re in a good mood, I can start pursuing you?”
Yan’s heart froze for a moment as she looked at him.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 996
Xiao Su looked at Yan with a gentle gaze. Under the lights, he looked more affectionate as his deep emotions for her reflected in his eyes. Yan did not know it before, but now that he had expressed his heart’s desires, she could actually see it now. After it became evident, Yan took two steps back in shock. Then, she turned around. “You should go out.”
“If you don’t want to be in the same room as me, I’ll go out first.”
What she did not know was that after she turned around, the light in Xiao Su’s eyes had quickly faded. After speaking to Yan, he turned and left the kitchen.
Bang! After the kitchen door was closed, the surroundings returned to a calm state and it was only then that Yan turned back around. She stared at the door for a while, then withdrew her helpless gaze. Xiao Su was a pretty good person, but she could not force her feelings just like she could not force Han Qing’s. Thinking about this, Yan took a deep breath and she only exhaled after a while. She then lowered her head to wash the vegetables.
After Han Muzi pulled George out, he instantly became like a curious baby. “Muzi, you and Yuchi already have a child together? What does he look like? Is he at home? Can I see him? Oh my God!”
Han Muzi did not know what to say. The person in front of her was so excited as if he was becoming a father. She could not help but frown. “Why are you so excited?”
When she put it like that, George realized that he seemed to be overly excited. He scratched his head in embarrassment and said with a smile, “I’m just happy for my good friend. Besides, I only knew that you and Yuchi were in a relationship. I didn’t know that you guys had a child. How old is he?”
“Five years old,” Han Muzi said. After thinking about it, she thought that it was not right and corrected, “After Lunar New Year, he’ll be six years old.”
After finding out the age, George was speechless. It took a long time before he finally found his voice, but it was hoarse. “He’s already so big! That’s so fast. It doesn’t seem right!” He patted his head and had a look on his face as if he had just discovered the New World. “When you were talking to me about it, you guys were only discussing your marriage. It was at that time when Yuchi Shen had his accident. It hasn’t been that long since then. How can there be a six-year-old child?” Speaking of this, George had a very dramatic plot in his head. He scared himself and stared at Han Muzi with widened eyes. “Unless, this kid… isn’t Yuchi’s?”
Han Muzi was speechless. She was stunned by his mysterious ways of thinking. She was curious about how he came about this thought. Before she could explain, a voice rang out.
“Little Young Master was delivered before this. Sir, you can eat whatever you want, but don’t just say whatever you want.”
Han Muzi looked over to where the voice came from and found that Xiao Su had come out. Is he not helping Yan in the kitchen?
When he met Xiao Su’s gaze, George immediately narrowed his eyes to look at him. Before, he was still wondering about Xiao Su’s identity. Now that he had spoken, George realized. “So you’re from the Yuchi Family.”
Yuchi Family. Xiao Su knew that Ye Moxuan was now known as Yuchi Shen, so when he heard George talking about Yuchi Shen, he could guess that he was talking about Young Master Ye.
He did not answer, so George looked back and smiled while saying, “I really want to see Yuchi’s child. He should call me ‘uncle’, right? Where’s the child, Muzi?”
Han Muzi said, “Little Bean isn’t here now. He’s with his great-grandfather. If you want to see him, you can go to the Yuchi residence to see him.”
George immediately chickened out as he heard this and waved his arm. “Then it’s fine. I’ll meet him when I have the chance. Grandfather Yuchi will surely give me a lecture if he catches me visiting the Yuchi residence. He might tell my grandfather my whereabouts, then I might be restricted again. You’re heading back to China in three days; I would not be able to accompany you all if I’m going to be restricted again!”
Speaking of this, George started whining again after thinking of the hell of a week he had gone through. Han Muzi had heard about it on WeChat before, so when she noticed he was about to start ranting again, she smiled slightly and said, “I’ll go to my room and take a nap.” Then, she left George and went back to her room.
George was speechless. Am I toxic? Does Muzi really dislike me so much? Boo-hoo… However, with Han Muzi gone, was there not another person in the living room? As such, George turned to Xiao Su. For some reason, when George looked at him, a cold sweat covered Xiao Su’s back.
“What’s wrong?” Xiao Su raised his eyebrows.
George walked over and slung his arm over the other’s shoulders. “Brother, you’re from the Yuchi Family, right? Are you free now? Let’s have a chat!”
Xiao Su raised his eyebrows and could not help but lift the corner of his lips a little.
Soon after, Xiao Su listened as George vented his bitter feelings. He was almost unable to control the muscles on his face. George had put it nicely by saying that he wanted to have a chat when in fact, he wanted to talk about his past. Xiao Su was a good listener. He sat opposite George while listening to everything he said without making a sound because he had nowhere to go.
When George was done talking, he felt at ease and realized that the person sitting opposite him was still sitting there without moving. Feeling touched, he sat over and hugged Xiao Su with tears in his eyes. “Man, you’re pretty cool. You didn’t leave even after I said so much. What’s your name? We’ll be good brothers in the future!” After speaking, George reached out his hand and started hammering his own chest. He was signaling Xiao Su to do the same.
Xiao Su shot him a sideways glance, twitched the corners of his mouth, and said, “Xiao Su.”
“Xiao Su? What a nice name! My name’s George. From now on, we’ll be brothers.”
Xiao Su did not know what to say.
“Are you and the girl from earlier a couple? No, I don’t think you’re a couple. Seeing that you keep protecting her, it must be that you like her?”
Xiao Su pursed his lips and asked while feeling displeased, “Do you have a hobby of inquiring about other people’s private affairs?”
“Hey, don’t say that. This is not inquiring; it’s showing concern!” George corrected him solemnly.
Xiao Su choked and could not say anything.
“Since we’re brothers, then it’s only normal that I show my care and concern for you, right?”
Xiao Su turned his head and pushed his hand away. “What do you want?”
“What’s wrong? Are you afraid that I’ll snatch your woman away from you? Let me tell you; I, George, will never touch a friend’s woman, let alone a brother’s! Besides, I will only get involved with a woman when it’s consensual.”
Xiao Su was speechless. Listening to this person’s tone, he couldn’t help thinking, This person seems promiscuous and somehow seems proud of it too? How did Young Master Ye come to have a relationship with this person? Furthermore, it seems that Han Muzi treats him well too.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 997
“Alright, I noticed that you looked lost, so I want to help you, brother!” George threw out his inner thoughts, “I’m very good at pursuing girls. Since we’re brothers now, do you want me to teach you a few moves?” George leaned over shamelessly once more and placed his arm over the other’s shoulder as if they both shared a good relationship.
Xiao Su was not used to men putting their arm over his shoulders. However, George was so enthusiastic that he could only stand up and push him away. “No need.”
“Why not? Could it be that you’ve already successfully pursued her? Seriously, brother, although I seem carefree, I’m super steady. The methods I’ll teach you… will surely be effective.”
Xiao Su stepped forward and walked toward the balcony. Seeing this, George immediately followed after.
When it was time to have lunch, Xiao Su was already so entangled with George that he almost could not speak and he looked as if life was meaningless. When Ye Moxuan came back from work, the number of people who would be eating lunch suddenly turned into five.
He paused when he saw George. Then, he took off his jacket and gave George a mild look. “Why are you here?’
This immediately triggered George who jumped and exclaimed, “Can’t I be here?”
Ye Moxuan did not answer. He pressed his thin lips for a moment before hanging his jacket on the shelf at the side. George walked over and started accusing him, “I haven’t even started about you. If Muzi didn’t tell me that you guys are returning home, were you never planning to tell me? Then when I find out, you would already have returned to China? Yuchi, are we not good brothers anymore?”
“Do you know what you look like when you’re spouting nonsense like this?” Ye Moxuan asked.
George’s expression was dark. “You want to say I’m long-winded like a mother?”
Ye Moxuan nodded in self-satisfaction. “It seems that you’re still a little self-aware.”
Hearing this, George almost exploded. At this time, Han Muzi stepped out after her nap. Seeing her, George immediately went to her to seek justice. “Muzi, you’ve appeared at just the right time. Come defend me. This fellow said that I’m long-winded like a mother. How can a brother say such things?”
Hearing this, she glanced at him with a strange look and pursed her lips before saying, “But… I think so too.”
“Muzi, I didn’t take you for the kind of person who would make things worse. You have to know that I worked hard to match the two of you before. Now that you two are together, you can’t do this to me,” said George.
Han Muzi blinked and thought about it carefully. George had indeed helped them a lot. If it were not for him, she would not have been able to get together with Ye Moxuan so smoothly. Not to mention the subsequent developments.
Thinking of this, Han Muzi looked at Ye Moxuan. “Let him be. Don’t ridicule him anymore. He was forced to go on blind dates by his family for a week, so he’s quite pitiful.”
Ye Moxuan nodded. “Okay, I’ll listen to Mrs. Ye.”
George thought, What should I do if I feel like I’ve been made a fool?
At this time, the kitchen door opened. Yan walked out with a pot of soup. “Let’s eat.”
Xiao Su walked over quickly. “Allow me.”
After passing the pot of soup that was in her hands to him, Yan turned around to bring out the other dishes. Everyone helped. Soon, the dishes that Yan prepared were all served on the table. The room was quickly filled with the aroma of the food. After taking a whiff of the food, George felt that he was ascending to heaven.
After taking a few bites, George sighed. “Damn, Muzi, her cooking skills are better than yours!”
Han Muzi glanced at him and said, “Yan is very skilled at cooking while I only cook in my spare time. We’re incomparable.”
“Wow!” George glanced at Yan. “If someone were to marry Yan, wouldn’t that person be in bliss?” After talking, he glanced at Xiao Su with a wavering gaze.
Xiao Su was speechless. He lowered his head indifferently to eat, but the tips of his ears were red. It exposed his inner feelings. Seeing him like this, George sighed silently in his heart. I just made a joke but my brother is already so shy? How can he pursue a girl like this?
Yan probably understood George’s words. She stood up; her voice and tone sounded a little cold as she said, “I’ll go and check if I’ve turned off the stove.” Then, she turned around and went to the kitchen.
Everyone else was quiet. George swallowed his food and glanced at Han Muzi who was opposite him. “Muzi, what I just said… Was she offended by it?”
Han Muzi glanced at George and shrugged her shoulders, showing that she was not too sure of it herself. Then, she wanted to pick up some ribs with her chopsticks but the ribs were too far away. If she wanted to take some, she needed to stand up. However, Han Muzi was too lazy. After a while, she gave up and just picked up the food that was in front of her.
Unexpectedly, Ye Moxuan picked up a piece of rib and placed it into her bowl. Han Muzi looked at him in amazement. He paid attention!
Seeing their public display of affection, George, who was next to them, showed a bitter and sad face. He did not expect this to happen when he was just having a meal. However, after thinking about it, it seemed that someone else was having it worse, and that person was Xiao Su, who was sitting next to him. George planned to match them up with what he said earlier, but he unexpectedly stepped on the girl’s tail.
At this moment… Xiao Su should have felt a blow to the heart. George quietly leaned over to Xiao Su and whispered, “Brother, I didn’t mean to stir things up. I take you as a brother and would never do such things.”
Hearing that, Xiao Su did not even lift his eyes and only responded casually, “I know.”
“That’s good.” George was relieved and patted his chest. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, I’ll definitely help you out, brother.”
Xiao Su did not know what to say. After a moment of silence, he glanced sideways at the people around him. “No need. I’m afraid that the more you try to help, the more trouble you’ll cause.”
It’s just like what happened earlier, no?
The smile on George’s lips froze for a moment. He actually said that the more I try to help, the more trouble I would cause. F*ck! He felt as if he was being stabbed in the heart.
When Yan came back, George did not dare to talk nonsense anymore. If he made this woman mad again, Xiao Su would probably blame him to death. After the meal was over, George did not have the time to sit down and enjoy the fruits. He rushed back after looking at his grandfather’s missed calls. When George had left, Xiao Su was relieved.
In the afternoon, Yu Bo brought back Little Bean. These days, Little Bean had been at the Yuchi residence accompanying his great-grandfather. When Han Muzi saw him, she momentarily lost her train of thought and the two immediately hugged.
Yu Bo watched the scene in front of him and said slowly, “Old Master said that in the next few days, until you and Young Master Xuan return to China, Little Bean should stay with you.”
Han Muzi was stunned for a moment, then she raised her head to meet Yu Bo’s eyes. “This is what Grandfather wants?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 998
Yu Bo smiled slightly and explained, “Old Master says that young children can’t be apart from their parents. Since you guys are going back soon, he wants Little Bean to spend more time here. Old Master isn’t an unreasonable person. Spending the New Year’s with his great-grandson made him more than happy. So…”
Yu Bo paused and looked at Little Bean. Han Muzi seemed to have understood. She pinched Little Bean’s cheeks lightly and said, “Little Bean, why don’t you go and take a shower first then wait for Mommy in the room? The suitcase you brought with you is in Daddy’s room.”
“Oh, okay, Mommy. I’ll go shower now then.”
After she sent Little Bean away, Han Muzi questioned, “Mr. Yu. Do you have another reason for coming today?”
Yu Bo nodded then pulled out a brown paper bag from his briefcase and handed it to her. Looking at the brown paper bag, she was slightly wary about receiving it.
The last time Yuchi Jin gave her a small box, there was an invaluable diamond necklace inside of it. This time, it was a brown paper bag. Was he giving her money?
“Young Lady Ye?” Yu Bo called when he saw her staring blankly at the brown paper bag.
She pulled herself back. “Mr. Yu? May I ask what that is?”
Yu Bo did not answer. He pushed the brown paper bag to her with an ambiguous look. “You’ll find out once you take a look inside, Young Lady Ye. It’s Old Master’s affection for Little Bean. He instructed me to give this to you in person before we came earlier.”
She received it with trembling hands and had a nagging feeling that it was something of importance. It only seemed befitting to have money in a brown paper bag like that. However, when she held it in her hands, it felt unexpectedly light. It seemed like a piece of document.
Don’t tell me… Something flashed across her mind and she quickly pushed the brown paper bag back to him.
“Mr. Yu, I can’t accept this. Please take it back to Grandfather. Little Bean is still so young so there’s no need to prepare anything for him. I already felt out of line for accepting the gift Grandfather gave me at our first meeting. But now…”
She did not have any greed and every emotion she displayed was sincere. Seeing that, Yu Bo nodded approvingly. “You’re a down-to-earth person, Young Lady Ye. But, this was what Old Master instructed me to do. I’m just a servant in the Yuchi Family who has to follow orders.”
“Mr. Yu, please don’t joke around. You’re well-respected. How are you just a servant? The way I see it, you’re also an elder. So this gift…”
“You have to accept this today, Young Lady Ye. Old Master said that even if you feel pressured, you will just have to deal with it because this gift isn’t for you but for his great-grandson. It makes him happy as a great-grandfather to be able to prepare a gift for his great-grandson.”
At that point, she felt like it would have been unsympathetic to say any more. It was a gift for her son and it had nothing to do with her. It was not for her, either. What right did she have to reject it on her son’s behalf?
“I understand, Mr. Yu. I’ll accept it on his behalf for now. But when the time comes, I can’t say for sure whether he will accept it or not.”
“Okay.” Yu Bo did not say anymore either. What will happen later can be dealt with later. But now that she had accepted it, he was able to fulfill his duties. What came next was a problem for the future.
When she received the brown paper bag, however, she felt slightly uneasy. She was not used to his sudden kindness toward her. After all, she already accepted the diamond necklace from before. It must have been a precious and invaluable item, yet he gave it to her as a gift.
She speculated that Song Xin did not want the necklace. If that were the case, it still should have gone to Song An, but somehow, it ended up in Han Muzi’s hands. Besides, Little Bean also received a gift. Is Yuchi Jin looking out for our family? Since Little Bean stayed back, is he…
She turned to look at Yu Bo. After a moment, she decided to go into the kitchen and make a cup of tea for him. Then, she invited him to take a seat in the living room.
“Thank you, Young Lady Ye,” Yu Bo said with a smile as he accepted the cup of tea. After taking a few sips, he put the cup down.
“Mr. Yu, I know you’re Grandfather’s most trusted person. So I wanted to ask…” She hesitated, unsure of how to continue.
It seemed like Yu Bo knew what she was thinking. Upon seeing her hesitation, he said, “Did you want to ask about Little Bean? Old Master actually asked him last night and Little Bean was willing to stay by his side. Even though Old Master was touched, he felt like it was better for a child to stay close to his parents—unlike how he was brought up. He wanted me to bring Little Bean back today without any intentions of taking him back anymore.”
Han Muzi’s heart pounded and she quickly looked up at him. “Mr. Yu?”
“Young Lady Ye, I want to apologize on behalf of Old Master for what he did to you before, including what happened with Young Master Ye. Old Master has been suffering. In all the years that I’ve watched him, he has always been lonely and empty inside. When he finally found his grandson, he was so eager that he made the wrong decisions. After that…”
He brought a plane ticket to the company and hoped that I would leave.
When he did all those things, he did not feel anything at the time. But thinking about it now, he felt regretful. The mention of those past events triggered her memory and she laughed. “It’s all in the past now. I never took those things to heart. In fact, I’m so thankful for Grandfather because he gave Moxuan a second chance in life. No matter what Grandfather does, I will never be angry at him.”
Yu Bo looked at her in gratification. “Turns out my years of experience didn’t give me the wrong impression of you. I always thought you were a kind and considerate child, Young Lady Ye. Looking at it now, I wasn’t wrong about you.”
The sudden compliment made her blush and she said bashfully, “You’re flattering me, Mr. Yu. I’m not as good as you say I am.” She was just in agony at the time and felt like she had lost her whole world. When she found out that Ye Moxuan was still alive later on, she was beyond delighted. From that moment on, she felt like God was looking out for her. Despite the plane accident and the vast number of casualties, Ye Moxuan survived. How could she have any resentment?
“Young Lady Ye, I shall return now since I’ve done what I came to do.” Yu Bo suddenly stood up and prepared to leave as she was deep in thought.
Han Muzi stood up. “Mr. Yu, would you stay for dinner? Grandfather…”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 999
“I won’t stay for dinner since I have to accompany Old Master. This is how we’ve been for years now. You don’t have to worry, Young Lady Ye.”
For some reason, his words made her feel dreary. She felt sorry that he had to live overseas alone at that age without any of his children or relatives by his side. The thought weighed down on her but alas, she did not say anything else.
After she sent Yu Bo off, Han Muzi returned to her room. She opened her laptop and went on Wikipedia to search for information on the Yuchi Enterprise. She did not know much about their family, but now, she was curious to know more. If it’s possible, perhaps we can bring the old man back with us when we return home. After all, he’s already so old. Right after he finally found his family, he has to return to being alone again. That feeling of loss is the most painful.
Han Muzi read up on a lot of information. She was still focused on her computer when Little Bean came out of the shower. Little Bean still had the fresh shower scent on him as he reached up and placed his small hands on her neck. “What are you looking at, Mommy?”
When she heard the child’s voice, she grabbed his hands and said lightly, “Just doing some research. Are you done with your shower?”
Little Bean gave a coy nod. Then, he saw the news on her screen and asked aloud, “Isn’t that Great-Grandfather?”
“Yes, it is.” Han Muzi was researching the Yuchi Family. There was a ton of information about their enterprise on Wikipedia along with some recorded interviews. After watching them, she noticed that the old man was always self-assured and calm as he spoke and answered every one of the questions. Nonetheless, there was always a short segment toward the end of some videos and some of the interview questions were dense—such as asking Yuchi Jin whether his family’s support was the reason for his success.
However, they were trying to be cunning in those questions. While no one knew the particulars of what happened to Yuchi Jin’s family or why his children left him, everyone knew that such a thing did happen. How did an interviewer not have access to that sort of information? Still, it would not have been courteous to ask straightforwardly, so they used different methods and worked their way around it.
The moment the old man was asked about his family, though, his high-standing nature quickly became sullen. His presence instantly looked significantly more gloomy. He looked at the reporter who asked the question and said coldly, “This job must not be right for you. How can you ask a question like that?”
As they were broadcasting live at the time, the inexperienced reporter did not expect to be called out by such a renowned entrepreneur. The reporter quickly became flustered and had a hard time responding. Luckily, there was an experienced reporter on the scene who stepped in to help. The situation was swiftly amended but the interview received backlash after that.
Criticisms were posted in the comments section beneath the video.
‘Is that reporter ignorant? How can she ask questions like that? Even common people know about this entrepreneur’s family problems.’
‘I knew as soon as I saw. They were deliberately trying to be smart. But isn’t she too brazen? Who is Yuchi Jin to give her face?’
‘What’s wrong with the comments above? Is it wrong to ask a question? I actually thought it was tactful to ask that way. Were you expecting the reporter to blatantly ask why his family wasn’t with him?’
‘To the comment right above, isn’t there something wrong with you? Why should people tell you about their family issues? Do you think these kinds of questions deserve praise? So what if it was tactful? It hurts all the same no matter which angle you poke at!’
Looking at all the comments, Han Muzi just shook her head helplessly. These netizens must have been so bored to start a fight in the comments section. But… She sighed. Suddenly, she heard Little Bean’s voice. “Mommy, that reporter was so mean. She obviously knew it was a scar in Great-Grandfather’s life, but she still asked on purpose.”
She lifted Little Bean up on her thighs and closed the video she was watching. Then, she said, “I think she crossed the line too. She shouldn’t rub salt into other people’s wounds. But she might have done it to bring some impact and boost her own performance, so it’s understandable.”
“Hmph! She bullied Great-Grandfather. I don’t want to understand her!”
Han Muzi let out a small smile and gently caressed his head. “So, no matter what you choose to do in the future, Little Bean, you have to do it with sincerity. Even if you want to see results, you can’t get it by using other people’s pain.”
Little Bean nodded his head firmly. “I understand, Mommy!”
“Good boy.”
After that, the mother and son duo went on to look up other videos. Little Bean was sprawled out and looking at the laptop in fascination. He only turned back to look at Han Muzi after some time. “Mommy, why did Great-Grandfather send me back today?”
Just then, she remembered everything Yu Bo told her earlier. She hesitated to tell Little Bean all of that and instead, tested the waters as she asked, “Little Bean, do you want to go back home with Mommy and Daddy?”
Little Bean blinked his gleaming bright eyes. “I want to!” He nodded his head eagerly then slowly tilted his head as a thought crossed his mind. “But I feel bad for Great-Grandfather. I also want to stay here and accompany him.”
I see. She knew her darling son was always considerate of others, but being too considerate tended to advantage others while disadvantaging the self.
Little Bean made it clear that he wanted to follow his parents back, but because of his empathetic feelings for his great-grandfather, he eventually chose to give in and stay by his great-grandfather’s side. That was equivalent to taking away his preferences and opinions. How could she willingly let her son be like this at his age? It looked like she had to find a chance to talk to Ye Moxuan about the plan she thought of earlier.
“Alright, let me and Daddy discuss this and see if we can bring your great-grandfather back with us when the time comes. Then, you’ll be able to see Daddy and Mommy every day while also accompanying your great-grandfather.”
He blinked again. “Is that possible? Will Great-Grandfather come back with us?”
“It all depends on you, Little Bean,” she teased as a mischievous look flashed across her eyes.
Little Bean looked at her innocently. Why does it feel like Mommy is trying to deceive me?
Han Muzi leaned in affectionately and pressed her cheek against his. She said in a low voice, “I have something to discuss with you. Why don’t you stay here with your great-grandfather for now while Mommy and Daddy go back to settle some matters then come back again to get you guys?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1000
“Mommy is my favorite person.”
His sentence left Han Muzi slightly dumbfounded. Shortly after, Little Bean leaned in and placed a kiss on her cheek then backed away again. “So, I will listen to anything you say.”
Those were heartwarming words, yet she felt a lump rise in her throat and tears well up in her eyes. Not wanting Little Bean to notice, she pulled him into her embrace. “You’re such a good boy, Little Bean. You’re my favorite person too.”
“No. No!” He suddenly shook his head violently. “I can’t be your favorite person. Daddy will be angry.”
She looked at him astonished. “What?”
“The last time you said you loved me the most, bad Daddy held a grudge and didn’t let me in the room.”
Her face started to heat up. The last time Ye Moxuan locked Little Bean out of the room, he pressed Han Muzi up against the door and did all sorts of things to her. I hope there isn’t a second time for something like that. She sighed softly. “Fine. Little Bean, you can’t hold a grudge either. Your daddy was just pulling a prank on you. You are our baby, after all. Your daddy loves you a lot too.”
Hmph! Daddy doesn’t love me. He only loves Mommy. But, I guess that’s good enough.
“Should we agree on this then? I’m asking you for your opinion, Little Bean. I’m not just informing you. You can give me suggestions if you’re not happy with this arrangement and I’ll think of something else that will work for everyone. Okay?”
Little Bean was indeed thoughtful and obedient. She did not want him to suffer on his own. However, Little Bean shook his head. “It’s fine, Mommy. I think your arrangement is really good.”
“Really? Then, you—”
“Then Great-Grandfather and I will wait here for you and Daddy to come and pick us up.”
Before she was able to say anything else, Little Bean already set everything in place. Looking at his innocent and naïve face in front of her, she did not say any more. Then, she sighed inwardly and pulled him into a tight hug.
…
After everything was decided, they all pondered on their thoughts. In a blink of an eye, it was the day they were set to depart. George and Rory arrived to send them off. However, Yuchi Jin did not show up and only Yu Bo came.
Little Bean stood next to Han Muzi and kept looking behind Yu Bo. When he did not see the person he wanted to see, he asked, “Uncle Yu. Is my great-grandfather not here?”
Yu Bo had his usual amiable smile on his face and a small box in his hand. “Little Young Master. Your great-grandfather is busy at work so he can’t make it. But this is a small gift he had me prepare for you.”
Little Bean stared at the small box curiously. “What is it?”
With an ambiguous look on his face, Yu Bo handed the small box over. Little Bean immediately reached out to receive it and hugged the box to his chest. “Your great-grandfather wants you to open it after you get back.”
Little Bean blinked and stared intently at the small box in his arms. I’ll have to wait a long time if I can only open it after I get back.
On the other side, George pulled a long face and looked exceptionally upset. He wanted to go up and hug his friend, Ye Moxuan, but Ye Moxuan was standing there with a placid look on his face and seemed unbothered.
George hesitated, then turned to hug Xiao Su instead. He wailed, “My friend, I can’t bear to let you go.”
Being trapped in a bear hug, Xiao Su’s lips started to twitch. “Young Master George, please let go of me now. People might misunderstand if they see two grown men hugging each other like this.”
George was dumbfounded for a moment then asked, “I’m sending my best friend off very reluctantly. Who’s going to misunderstand? Right—” He scanned his surroundings. As expected, the two grown men hugging each other did garner some attention.
Yan crossed her arms in front of her and looked at them in amusement. Standing on one side, Rory looked at Han Muzi with a blushed face as she said gently, “Muzi, I might not have known you for long, but you were my warmth in this cold country. Thank you.”
Han Muzi and Rory did not know each other for very long, let alone speak to each other all that much. It was probably because of the guard Han Muzi had up at the time. When a girl suddenly approached her with overflowing friendliness while she was in a foreign country and even added her on WeChat, Han Muzi decided that she did not want to get too close to her. But looking back now, she realized that Rory did not have any bad intentions to start with. She was just a naïve girl who met another Chinese person and subconsciously wanted to be close friends. I was just too temperamental.
Han Muzi smiled slightly and looked sideways at George. “Did you two come together?”
Rory nodded her head. “Yes. George sent me a message to tell me you were leaving and asked if I wanted to send you guys off as well.”
“Hmm… let me recall… Didn’t you loathe him at the start?” Han Muzi did not expect their relationship to take such a big leap in the time that she did not see them.
Rory blushed and laughed bashfully. Finally, she explained, “After we got to know each other more, I realized he wasn’t as loathsome as I thought he was and he’s even quite nice.”
“Quite nice?”
Rory nodded. “Yes. He’s a great person. Did you know, Muzi? He invited me to a feast!”
“F-Feast?”
“Yeah. I haven’t eaten anything good since coming here because of financial problems. Other than the meals I have at the company, I usually just starve.” She laughed awkwardly. “You won’t give me the cold-shoulder, right?”
Han Muzi looked at Rory and noticed that she was indeed skinny. Han Muzi recalled that Rory did not end up telling her where she lived last time. It seemed like her life was quite difficult.
“Why would I give you the cold-shoulder? George is a good man. But…” Han Muzi trailed off as she felt like her proceeding words were unnecessary. “Just think through everything carefully. If you ever come back to the country, you can look for me.”
“Okay. Then, remember not to change your WeChat! Otherwise, I won’t be able to find you. But…” Her smile faded slightly. “The chances of me returning are low. Don’t worry though; I’ll find a way to see you!”
“Mm.”
“We have to go through security now,” Ye Moxuan said in a deep voice as he reminded her.
Rory pressed, “Oh, right! You guys shouldn’t delay any longer. Hurry on now to security. We’ll see you off here.”
Rory noticed that George was still nudging Xiao Su at the side with a reluctant look on his face. She went over and tugged at his sleeve. “We have to get going now.”
