Ch. 476..480: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 476-480

Chapter 476

Anne knew that it was no accident and everything happened for a reason, which was why she had to cut all ties with Lucas.

She could not tell anyone what had truly happened because she did not have the courage to do so. Nothing would change even if the others

found out because no one could overpower Anthony. In the end, she would only come to hurt herself.

"Dad, I will settle things between Lucas and me.'

"Are you really going to give up on a man that great? I thought you liked him?" Nigel tried to convince her that it was best for her to get

married since Anthony had his eyes on her.

Anne lowered her gaze. "Everyone has to do something they don't want to at some point in their lives..."

Nigel knew the feeling. He was once in a difficult position as well, causing him to abandon Sarah and their daughter, whom he did not know

about.

His decision had twisted their paths in life, and he had lost countless nights of sleep whenever he recalled what Sarah told him about the way

Anne was terrorized by Anthony.

If Bianca were not dead set on marrying Anthony, Nigel would rather die than have someone like Anthony as his son-in-law. If only Anthony had found out that Anne was Nigel's daughter sooner, he would have held back on his action.

Nigel could not help but think that he was the reason for all the misery and pain.

He left the area late at night with a heavy heart.

When he drove into the garage of his house, he remained there glancing through all the messages and contact history between him and Sarah before deleting everything.

Dorothy stood by the window upstairs and noticed that Nigel had not come out of his car.

'Why is he doing? Is he contacting someone or trying to erase the record of that? He's just been acting weird lately. Is it really because Anne went missing? Sarah knew that Anne was missing, so did she try to contact Nigel?' she thought.

Dorothy realized that she had to look into where Nigel had been lately.

After sleeping through the night at home, Anne felt that she could see the situation clearer than ever.

If she went to meet with Lucas, Anthony would find out eventually, and she could not afford that as she could not take any of the torture.

However, she needed to see Lucas, so she called Anthony and said, "I need to settle things between Lucas and me. I want to meet with him."

’You can't talk about it on the phone?" Anthony said coldly.

’I have to show some respect at least, right? I won't ever meet with him again after this. If I don't explain everything, there will never be an end to this?" Anne promised.

"Where will you meet?"

"At school. It's not like we are going to meet at my apartment." Anne was not being considerate of Anthony's concern. She simply wanted an excuse to go to the school and see her children.

It had been so many days since she saw them, and she missed them horribly, wondering if they had cried when they could not find their

mother.

"Call me and keep the phone on speaker before you go into the school."

Shocked by how possessive he was and how far he was willing to take it, she muttered, "We won't ever..."

He interrupted her with a dark voice, "Then don't go and meet him!"

She had once again realized how obsessive Anthony was and dared not to disobey.

In the morning, Anne took a taxi to the academy and called Anthony right before stepping through the gate, keeping her phone on

speakerphone as he had commanded.

He would hear everything on her end.

Anne could hear noises on Anthony’s side of him working.

Chapter 477

Lucas was waiting for her in his office.

When they finally saw one another, it felt like a lifetime had passed.

’I’m sorry for worrying you, but I'm fine now," Anne said.

Lucas approached her to give her a hug.

Anne panicked and took a few steps back. "Let's not contact one another ever again. Nothing is ever going to happen between US."

He halted in shock. "Why?"

"We are not right for each other."

’It’s too odd a reason to turn me down." Lucas refused to accept.

"I just don't think I should get married after giving it some thought. I'm sorry, but that's all..." Anne turned to leave, and Lucas went to stand in

her way.

"Why, exactly? Make yourself clear!"

"I realized that Anthony was the first one I thought of when I was in danger. I realized that I felt something different for him. I can't be with you while I have feelings for him." Anne was horrified by the idea that Lucas would mention the children because everything would be over if he did. "I'm sorry, Mr. Newman. I've wronged you, but I can't do this anymore..."

She took advantage of Lucas's dazed state and left the office before running out of the building.

She did not stop until she was a distance away and placed her phone next to her ear. "Is that okay?"

"Let's show him what feelings you have for me, then."

"How?" Anne was at the brink of losing her temper.

"There will be chances." Anthony ended the call.

Feeling all strength had drained from her body, she held back the tears and walked toward the kindergarten.

The triplets threw themselves at her feet in tears as soon as they saw her.

"Where were you, Mama?"

"We missed you!"

"You can't abandon us!"

Anne's heart ached as she crouched down to hold them. "I would never abandon you, no matter what. Remember that, okay? I just had something to take care of and forgot to contact you. I won't do it again."

The triplets buried their faces into her arms and refused to let go.

They had missed their mother.

Anne remained in the kindergarten with her children until after lunch and promised them that she would be waiting at home.

On her way home, she sat on the seat in the subway blankly, thinking that Anthony would not appear before her again before her wounds were fully healed.

To her bewilderment, she received a message from Anthony that very afternoon.

[I'll come over for dinner.]

She stared at the text message with resignation and thought to herself,' Does he have nowhere else to eat? Why does he have to come

here?'

She pressed the keyboard angrily and replied, [Moving around too much will hinder the recovery of my wounds!]

[I will get someone to send over the food.]

She threw her phone onto the couch in frustration, wondering why Anthony insisted on dining at her apartment, all the while knowing she

was powerless to stop him.

At night, food from an unknown five-star restaurant arrived at her apartment, and every dish was an exquisite delicacy.

Not holding back, she ate to her heart's content.

Anthony shot her a look wordlessly but kept his word and left after finishing dinner.

Anne sighed a breath of relief before she heard Anthony say, "Walk me downstairs."

She bit her lips and followed him out of the building to find Anthony's expensive black car parked outside.

Chapter 478

Anthony stopped and turned around as he stared her down intimidatingly. ’ Lucas Newman is standing ten meters away from US. Have you

figured out what you are going to do? Hm?"

Anne Stood frozen, trying to catch her breath as she Stared into the distance.

She knew that Anthony was telling the truth, and she had not forgotten about what he had said on the phone before.

Lucas would not give up based on the words she said inside the school, and he would come looking for an explanation.

Anthony had anticipated that.

Anne took a deep breath and walked closer before stopping right in front of Anthony. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed

her lips against his, all the while moving as gently as though she was truly kissing the man she loved.

Anthony wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to deepen the kiss.

In the distance, Lucas stared at the two as he clenched his fists. His chest felt heavy and as the look in his eyes slowly turned from shock to

indifference, he turned and left.

Anne noticed the figure leaving at the corner of her eyes and immediately darted away from Anthony. "He's gone now. Satisfied?"

"Is that supposed to be a question for me?" He narrowed his eyes dangerously.

Anne knew that she was acting frustrated and shot him a fake smile." Forget it.”

He stared into her star-like eyes before getting into his car.

The car door closed, and the Rolls Loyce disappeared into the distance.

Anne turned to look at the spot where Lucas was standing, a void that was left behind that was meant for someone else.

She knew that she had hurt Lucas, but it was better to end it sooner than later. For his sake, he was better off without her.

Anne went back upstairs to the sixth floor, where her children were waiting for her.

She stared at their innocent smiles and knew from the bottom of her heart that she would not have been able to take care of her children had she not received help from Lucas. She would have been overwhelmed, or someone else would have discovered the triplets.

She felt guilty toward Lucas and desperately hoped that he would not resent her, but she knew there was nothing she could have done.

It was late in the night, but Bianca appeared in the area where Anne lived.

She had come all the way to check Anne for any suspicious marks on her body under the influence of Dorothy's words. Once she confirmed it, no one would try to link Anne's disappearance with Anthony any longer.

She knocked on Anne's door in contempt, but no one came to the door. However, it was merely nine, and it was unlikely that Anne was already asleep.

Bianca continued knocking and kicking at the door, but still, there was nothing but silence.

She took out her phone to call Anne but stalled before dialing the number.

If Anne was not home at the moment, could she be with Anthony?

She immediately headed toward the Archduke Group and went into the office to find Anthony working.

'Why are you here during this time?" he asked.

Ì was on my way home and wanted to drop by to see you.” Bianca looked at all the documents on his desk and was impressed by how

intense his work lifestyle was. "I came here from Anne's apartment, actually, but she wasn't home."

"Really?" he asked expressionlessly.

"Really. I knocked for ages, and no one came to the door. She didn't answer her phone either. Maybe she's deeply asleep!" Bianca said.

"Hm." Anthony did not seem interested in the topic.

"How much longer do you need to stay? I'll keep you company."

"It's fine. Go home. This is going to take a long time.”

Chapter 479

’I'll wait for you in the Royal Mansion, then."

"Sure. Don't wait up."

Bianca left the office wondering if what she said would raise any suspicion within Anthony.

If Anne was not with Anthony, it was very likely that she was with another man, and once Anthony saw Anne for who she really was, he

would no longer be interested in her.

Anthony did not seem to care at all when Anne was abducted.

Bianca had mentioned long ago that Anne was merely Anthony's plaything, and she meant nothing to him.

As soon as Bianca left, Anthony made a phone call to command his men." Go to the area she lived in to see if she's there!"

He hung up and narrowed his eyes dangerously as he thought to himself,' Anne Vallois, you better stay in line!'

Anthony's bodyguard snuck into the residential building and went to the fifth floor to knock on Anne's door. There was no response, and when he tried to knock harder, there was still nothing but silence. 1

The bodyguard took out a pocket knife to pick the lock.

As soon as he took out the knife, all the police officers who had been waiting around swarmed him.

Knowing that he could not attack the police, the bodyguard was captured, and his knife was snatched out of his hand.

"We got you!"

"Let's see where you can run to now!"

"I'm surprised that you still dare to show up here!”

"I work for Mr. Marwood!" The bodyguard hastily explained.

The door opened, and Anne walked out with a pale face. ’ Did you get him? He kept knocking and kicking at my door, so I knew something was wrong."

"Ms. Vallois, it's a good thing that you called US, or he would have escaped, ’ one of the officers said.

The bodyguard stared at Anne in the hope that she would help to prove that he was innocent. "Ms. Vallois, I work for Mr. Marwood."

"As if! Why would Anthony Marwood's bodyguard be here? You don't look like the man who kidnapped me, but you probably work with him! Officers, please proceed!"

"Take him away!" The police took the bodyguard away with them.

Anne closed the door and sighed a long breath of relief.

Fortunately, she received a phone call from Tommy, telling her that he saw Anthony's bodyguard entering the area. She ran downstairs, knowing that Anthony would go crazy if he realized that she was not inside her apartment. She could never tell the truth of her spending time with her children on the sixth floor either.

It was a close call.

Someone knocked on her door, and she already knew who it was, so she went and let Tommy inside.

"Aren't you supposed to thank me?" he asked.

"Thank you,” she said earnestly, stripping him of the opportunity to tease her.

"Why would Anthony send his bodyguard over? He knew that I wasn't home? But how?"

"I asked around. I think Bianca was here."

"Bianca? Why?”

"Maybe because she's skeptical about this kidnapping as well?" Tommy narrowed his eyes, hinting that Bianca was not the only one who had

doubts.

Anne refused to confirm Tommy's suspicion and said, "Do you think that I was with Anthony throughout the days I was missing?"

"It's hard not to think that."

"I'll show you, then!" She tore her collar open and lifted her sleeves as well, revealing the fair skin underneath. There was no mark at all. "All

clear?"

Chapter 480

Tommy lifted an eyebrow without a word.

"Alright. It's late. I'm going to sleep now." "I've been worried about you for the whole week and this is how you treat me?" He scowled

gloomily.

She looked at him in surprise. "How exactly am I treating you? I'm just stating a fact."

"Let's catch up next time." He turned and left.

Anne went to lock her door and lay down in her own room, not daring to go back to the sixth floor as she feared that Anthony might pay her a

sudden visit.

Deciding that she would head back upstairs the next morning, she touched the scar on her back and realized it was no longer painful to lay

on her back.

She had shown Tommy her arm and neck, knowing that if he initiated it, he would see the scar on her back and realize that her

disappearance had something to do with Anthony, as kidnappers could not possibly cause such scars.

As for the 'kidnappers', Anthony would handle everything, and no one would doubt anything she said.

Tommy went back into his car thoughtfully, considering if he had guessed wrongly and that Anne's disappearance truly had nothing to do with Anthony, as she claimed.

If the two had been together, there had to be some marks on Anne's body.

Anthony had come to this area after Anne returned as well, which meant that he was not giving her up. If that was the case, what could Anthony be up to during the time when she was missing?

Tommy could sense that there was more to the story but had no proof to support his theory.

"Anne already called me. This girl is going to be the death of me. I am never going to feel safe again if she's not around!" Sarah said.

"She's alright now. Don't worry," Nigel consoled her.

"Sigh. You wouldn't know this, but I've lost so much weight. I couldn't eat or sleep. Nigel, when will you come and see me? Anne can't come here, and I can only rely on you. I feel really insecure here..." Sarah sobbed.

"I know..." Nigel himself intended on visiting her soon as well. He knew that Sarah had been worrying about Anne, and he felt that it was only normal for him to pay her a visit.

He heard a knock on his door, and Dorothy came inside. "Still working?"

When Sarah overheard Dorothy's voice, instead of trying to make Dorothy jealous, she hung up without another word.

While others might consider it cowardice, it was Sarah's little trick.

Dorothy watched as Nigel set his phone down on the desk and asked with a smile. "Why did you hang up as soon as I came in? Did I bother you?"

"Nothing. Why aren't you asleep? Something wrong?" Nigel turned his focus back to the documents before him.

"I figured that you should be able to rest peacefully now since Anne was found. You and Anthony are really similar. You are both

workaholics." Dorothy suppressed her suspicion and smiled with resignation.

"Bianca can move back here if she isn't used to living in the Royal Mansion. ■

"Yeah. All Anthony knows is work, so he is bound to neglect Bianca. It's going to be very lonely to be his wife!" Dorothy sighed dramatically.

Nigel bit his tongue and remained silent.

"How much longer will this take?" she asked.

"Not much longer. You should go to sleep first."

"Sure." Dorothy left the study room obediently, her expression darkening as soon as the door closed behind her.

'Who was he on the phone with? It's definitely not about work. Why else would he hang up as soon as I walk in?' she thought.
