Chapter 101: I Will Wait

"Really? What are you waiting for? Let’s eat now..." Doris stood from her seat and urged them to follow her to the dining room right next to the living room.

Rose follows Aunt Doris while Evan walks beside her. She sends him a cunning smile to warn him that she will take revenge on him later. How could he accuse her of being hungry now? Even though it’s only 6 PM, she still wants to talk to Aunt Doris.

Evan looked worried, seeing Rose’s smile, signaling him. Signal that he will get into trouble. What will she do?

Rose walked fast after Aunty Doris in front, leaving Evan, still busy thinking about Rose’s planning.

"Aunty, you cooked this many dishes?" Rose was amazed, looking at lots of seafood and meat on the table. She used to see these kinds of dishes in her mother’s cooking. Looks like Doris can cook east city specialties too.

She stole a glance at the woman who was standing right beside her. Doris isn’t just beautiful, but she’s also intelligent and good at cooking. Evan must have felt so fortunate to have a mother as perfect as Doris.

"Sure. I want to treat my future daughter-in-law with the dish she likes...." Doris’ words make Rose instantly feel shy. She blushed, thinking Doris must call her mother to ask for her favorite food.

"Sit here, Rose..." Doris pulled Rose to sit beside her. While Evan, who was standing behind them, was displeased with his mother, who stole his woman. He quietly sat in front of Rose.

Rose was touched by Doris’ kindness. She spends her precious time just cooking for her. And the way Doris speaks to her resembles her mother. She was so grateful that Evan had such a kind and wonderful mother as Doris. Now, she was starting to feel relieved and more comfortable around her. No more worrying that Evan’s mother will not like her. She is no longer worried that Evan’s parents would look down on her because of her family.

"You should eat more, Rose. If your mother comes, she will be sad if she sees you so skinny...." Doris placed a few pieces of grilled meat on Rose’s plate.

"Thank you, Auntie. I will eat a lot. All of this dish is mouth-watering...." She said, then started to eat her meal. Not only is the food plating appetizing, but the taste of the food is heavenly delicious. Now Rose knew where Evan got his cooking skill.

She eats in silence. Once in a while, she glances at Evan, who is eating in front of her. His expression was still the same, aloof. He doesn’t say anything unless they ask him. It was clear from his face that he didn’t enjoy the dinner.

Soon their dinner is over. Everyone moved to the living room. Rose and Doris continue chatting while Evan is busy with his phone.

How long did they talk? Rose and Doris didn’t seem to remember. They only stopped when they saw Evan standing up and saying goodbye.

Doris was stunned. She asked them to stay because she still wanted to talk to Rose.

"Sorry! But we have to go now. We will come back again later if we have time..." Evan, who was getting ready to go home, looked at Rose sitting beside his mother. He gestured to her to get up immediately.

He frowned when he saw the girl, avoiding his eyes. Why did she refuse?

"Aunty, allow me to speak to Evan first..." Rose whispered to Doris, then stood from her seat and approached Evan, still looking at her.

"Follow me!" Rose walks to the veranda door, which leads to the garden beside the house. Evan was confused, but still, he followed her.

Rose stops her step when they arrive at a gorgeous white patio that is not far from the house. She turns back to see Evan. She looked him in the eyes before she told him what had been bothering her since they arrived in this house.

"Evan! I know there’s something between you and your mother." Her voice sounded concerned. It makes Evan stunned. "I will not ask you why you behave like that to your mother. I will wait until you can share what’s inside here with me...." Rose continued as she placed her palm on his chest.

Evan’s eyes slightly waver, looking at her small palm touching his chest. He remained silent. Unable to form a sentence.

"But, Evan... Can I stay here longer? So I can talk to your mother." Her eyes blink several times, looking at his ocean blue eyes. She was trying to look at his emotion through his eyes. "I like Aunty Doris, and I feel comfortable talking to her. I feel that your mother resembles my mother in many ways..."

Evan was surprised to hear her words. Seeing the look in her eyes that sparkled when she talked about his mother made his cold heart melt slightly.

"Alright!" Evan held her hand and pulled her into his embrace, making Rose startled and worried Doris might see them. "One hour is enough, right?" Rose hears a voice from above her head.

"Yes..." She answered fast as she tried to release herself from him. But instead, Evan loosened her but his hand on her back tightened.

"Evan! Your mother will see us!! Can you release me?" Rose looked up at Evan’s face. But she was utterly nervous when Evan leaned closer to her face and kissed her lips gently. She couldn’t avoid it. She could only close her eyes and open her lips slightly when Evan’s warm lips touched her.

Her heart was pounding so fast when she felt Evan’s big hand holding the back of her head and pressing her. Her blood raced for a few seconds when his tongue danced inside her. She was panting when Evan’s lips slowly parted from her.

Rose held his arms tightly to hold her almost falling body because now her knees felt weak.

This is the second deep kiss since they became lovers. She can’t describe how she feels in words. She just likes it, tender and sweet.

Chapter 102: Evan’s True Identity

Too shy to look at him, Rose just hid her face on his chest. She wraps her arms around his waist as she hears how loud his beating heart is. The same with her. Right now, her heart feels almost like it exploded. She was so excited to kiss him in his mother’s backyard. The sensation is thrilling.

"Rose!" She hears Evan call her name. She is silently waiting for him to finish his words. "Whatever my mother said later... I hope you don’t misjudge me." Evan’s voice sounds deep.

Rose could feel fear in his tone. She could guess what he meant, he must be afraid she will have negative thoughts. Because of how he behaves toward his parents, mainly because he is worried his mother will badmouth him.

"Evan, don’t worry. Aunty just wanted us to stay here longer. She wouldn’t say bad things about you. If aunt did, I would still love and stick with you. You don’t need to worry. Your great tenant here will never run away..." Rose looks up to see him in the eyes. Trying to find out if he is still worried. Thankfully she found nothing. Instead, his eyes looked calm and loving.

"Don’t ever try to leave me, my pretty Rose!" Evan said as he placed his palm on her face.

"I will not. How can I leave my smart, handsome and rich boyfriend?" Rose laughs while escaping from his hug when Evan tries to kiss her again.

"You! Come back here, Rose!" Evan chuckled, looking at his girl, running like a rabbit into the house. He decided to wait on the patio. He didn’t want to hear what they were talking about.

At this moment, he still couldn’t tell Rose all about his family. He felt ashamed to say it to her.

In the living room,

Rose and Doris sat beside each other on the sofa. There were only the two of them in the large room. The maid in the dining room helping Doris serve them was now nowhere to be seen. The light in the room that was once brightly lit is now warm. Only a few decorative yellow lights are on. And she was so surprised when she looked out toward the glass wall. She could clearly see the lights of the houses below and the seaside. It looks so stunning.

"Rose, thank you for accepting my son. Even though he isn’t polite when dealing with people. He often has a straight face when talking to people he doesn’t know. But trust me, he’s very kind and caring...." Doris slowly took Rose’s hand and patted it lightly. She was so worried that Rose couldn’t stand her son, who looked overbearing.

Doris continued her words, "Never be offended by his aloofness, Rose. I hope you will stay with him forever... I hope you soon become my daughter-in-law." Doris already liked Rose. She wanted her to be her daughter-in-law.

Rose feels touched hearing Doris’ words. She felt grateful to be close and have a conversation like this with her.

"Rose, maybe you find it weird seeing how he treats me?" A bitter smile frames Doris’ delicate face. Rose could only smile a little to respond to Doris’ words.

"Back then... our relationship was so warm. Evan always smiles and is sweet when he talks to me. But after I divorced his father, he changed a lot. He seemed to have closed himself off from anyone, including me." Doris took a deep sigh as she remembered the sad memories of her life. She loses the man she loves, and also her son gradually distances her.

When Rose saw Doris’ eyes slightly Red, she was stunned. She was confused about how to coax Doris not to be sad anymore.

Rose tries to say a good thing about Evan, hoping Doris will smile again and feel happy hearing about her son. She can see how lonely Doris is.

"Thank you, Rose... you are such a kind and beautiful girl. I wish you guys would get married soon."

Rose blushed, hearing her words. After Evan and her mother, who always wanted them married. Now Aunty Doris is also saying those words? Wow! Three people joined forces. She can’t avoid them any longer. She is sure it won’t be long before she is officially Evan’s wife.

To lighten the conversation, Rose turned their conversation to food. They also start to eat snacks and drink wine at the table.

But after some time, Doris starts to talk about her family again.

"Rose, Has Evan ever told you about his family?"

Rose was stunned to hear Doris’ sudden question. She shakes her head and places her empty wine glass on the table.

"Evan didn’t tell me about his family. I didn’t even know about Aunty Doris until I arrived here...."

Doris bitterly smiles. His son is too secretive. Why did he have to hide his identity from Rose? She took a deep sigh before telling Rose about her son’s true identity.

"Well, let Aunty tell you about him. Rose, have you ever thought about Evan’s last name?" Rose nods. She does indeed know his identity. Even before her rebirth, he had asked if Evan was related to the Collins group, but he never admitted it.

"My ex-husband is Anthony Collins. You surely have heard or read about him, right?"

"Anthony Collins? Y-Yes, I read from the newspaper..."

"He is Evan’s father. So, Evan is the heir of the Collins group...." Doris smiles, looking at Rose’s surprised expression. "Does it scare you, dear?" Chapter 103: I Will Never Leave You

"A-Aunty, well... I’m petrified. How could the Collins Family accept me?" Rose felt pressured to imagine that Evan’s father and grandfather would disapprove of their relationship.

In the K-dramas Rose used to watch, the families of wealthy male characters often would try to separate their children from people like her. Now, she wonders, are the wealthy families in Astington the same as the Kdramas she’s seen?

She never knew! However, it seemed that she would soon find out when Evan’s father and grandfather found out about her existence.

"Don’t think like that, Rose! They will like you, especially Evan’s grandpa... You are such a lovely girl. You are also intelligent. I heard from your mother that you are always in the top two in your class, is that right?" Doris is trying to calm down Rose. She smiled when she saw Rose nod.

Rose slightly smiles, hearing Aunty Doris’ words.

"Aunty, after I meet you, I’m not scared anymore. I have you. I also have Evan. I love him, not because of his last name. But because of himself. So, as long as he loves me and wants me, I will stay by his side...." She can’t look Doris in the eyes. She’s too shy to say what’s in her heart now.

She’d known Evan was the son of Anthony Collins for a long time. But back then, she accepted Evan’s heart without regard for his family background or wealth.

Doris smiles, looking at her son and Rose. She couldn’t hide how happy she was, and her smile grew even broader, too happy for her son. Her son met his other half, Rose. This girl is the daughter-in-law she likes. She has already given them her blessing. She can’t wait any longer. She hopes her son and Rose will marry soon and give her a dozen grandchild.

The sky was still dark when the alarm rang.

With difficulty, Rose tried to open her eyes. She felt like she wanted to continue snuggling back under the blanket. Her eyes felt so heavy. She couldn’t open her eyes as the sleepiness was still swallowing her.

She didn’t know what time she fell asleep last night. But she remembered that she was still replying to Evan’s text past midnight.

This morning, Evan tells her that they will start her physical training. At first, she refused him, arguing she didn’t have running shoes. But Evan said it doesn’t matter. Looks like he is not buying her excuse. He said he would get new running shoes for her by morning. She doesn’t have a choice but to agree to his plan. They will go out before six in the morning.

Another set of alarms rang. Rose, who had been asleep for a few seconds, suddenly woke up again. That alarm sound is killing her.

"Oooh, please!!!" Rose murmurs while taking her cellphone and turning off the alarm. Feeling annoyed, she slapped her cheeks hard to make her wake up.

After struggling for a few seconds, she finally could sit on the edge of her bed. She tied her messy hair. And half an eye, she looks at the digital watch on the nightstand. It was not even 6 AM.

Why should they run so early? She thought they could go on seven or eight. But Evan said the morning air is better, especially since they live in the middle of the city.

It took her 10 minutes to be able to change her clothes. She doesn’t have her training clothes, she just wears a T-shirt and leggings.

Rose has plans to go shopping this noon before she goes to Vale city. Speaking about Vale city, until now, she did not tell Evan about her plan to go there. She hadn’t had a chance to inform him about her plans.

Last night she wanted to tell him but she was so exhausted when they returned from Doris’s house. They arrive at her apartment at 11 PM.

"This is for you...." Evan gave her a shoebox.

"Evan! How could you get running shoes in the middle of the night?" Rose accepted the box, and she immediately wore the red sneakers that fit her feet perfectly. She was stunned that Evan knew her size.

"This fits well! How do you know my size?" Rose stood up, looking at him.

"I call your mother...." Evan casually said as they entered the elevator.

"Y-You do!?" Rose was speechless.

How often does Evan call her mother? They seem to talk a lot lately behind her back.

"Hmm..." Evan chuckled as he gazed at the girl who was now staring at him with her curiosity. "Your mom said to make sure you eat a lot and don’t stay up too often...."

Rose smiles, hearing Evan’s Words. Indeed, her mother always worries about her when she stays up all night.

"Evan, my mom seems closer to you now than I am...." Rose said bitterly. The jealousy in her eyes becomes more obvious!

Chapter 104: First Training

When Evan and Rose arrived at the jogging track. Evan changes like a sports teacher who trains his students. He asks Rose to stretch before they start running. And when they are running, he doesn’t talk much to her.

As if knowing that Evan was now serious about training her, Rose kept silent and did as she was told.

After five minutes of running, Rose felt her chest tighten. She endured it. But after another five minutes, Rose groped her chest. It felt burning like someone had made a bonfire there. And her breath was so short, she couldn’t stand it anymore. She slows down while holding her chest.

"E-Evan... C-can we take a rest? I feel like dying here..." Rose stopped her step and tried to inhale as much air as possible with her mouth. She can feel her feet tremble and her forehead slightly wet.

Evan suddenly stopped. He looked back and saw Rose bent down. Her hand touched her chest and another hand on her knee as if holding her weight.

He immediately walked toward her. He was stunned when he looked at her face. She seems slightly pale, and sweat beads have started to appear on her forehead.

"Are you alright, Rose?" He asks her calmly.

"I’m not! I feel like I’m running out of air. My feet are shaking and slightly hurt, Evan...."

Evan silently chuckled when he remembered how determined Rose wanted to learn martial arts a few days ago. But now, only jogging for ten minutes, she already feels like dying.

From the beginning, he pictured this moment; Rose would definitely find how hard to enjoy this kind of physical training.

"Really?" Evan took her hand and made her stand up straight. He placed his hand on her chin to make her see him in the eyes. Her eyelashes fluttered as their eyes met.

"Umm... uh, Evan. Let’s take a rest in that chair...." Rose limped to one of the park benches on the edge of the blue river.

"Rose, this is just a light practice. It hasn’t learned any martial arts yet, but you’re already exhausted like this?" Evan sat beside her as he wiped the sweat off her forehead. "No need to force yourself to learn martial arts. I will just ask more people to guard you. How?"

Rose stood up instantly. With a beaming face, she saw Evan.

"Evan! After sitting for a while I felt refreshed. Let’s continue our training!" Rose said, then she started running again.

"Are you sure you can still run?" Evan asks as he follows her from behind. The corners of his lips curved to form a faint smile

"Oooh... Hmm... I’m sure! E-Evan stops asking me." Rose shouted with a slightly annoyed tone. She could run out of breath if she ran while talking.

Evan could only laugh silently, looking at her run fast. He does not speak anymore. He just runs beside her.

"Evan, how much longer can we run?" Rose suddenly asks again after running for a few minutes. She definitely can finish this session. She can’t easily give up, or Evan will laugh at her.

"Forty minutes..."

Instantly Rose’s heart sank when her heart still had 40 minutes left.

Gosh! Why must they run that long?

Now, she regrets saying she was still strong. But because she already told Evan she could make it, now she had no other choice but to continue this hell training.

Evan ran beside Rose. He can see how exhausted she is now, but he remains silent.

A few minutes passed by, and Evan was surprised, looking at Rose’s determination. Almost forty minutes, and she’s still running without complaining. Although her speed has decreased a lot now, there is no sign that she will stop.

This girl surprised him. He thought she would give up after a few minutes, but she managed to finish their first training, jogging for an hour. This morning their track ran along the Blue River and out of the Sky Park area.

"Do you want to have breakfast there?" Evan pointed to several food trucks in the area near the basketball court.

Around the Blue River, there are many parks and public sports venues provided by the government. Everyone can use these facilities.

"Yes, please. I’m really thirsty and a little bit hungry...." Rose said.

After they stopped running for who knows how many miles they ran this morning, from the sun still hiding on the horizon now already rising up. Rose feels her throat dry. She really needs water to moisten it.

As she walked to the food truck area, she saw many people doing morning activities. Some just walk with their partner and dogs. There are also a few couples who run like them. A few young people are playing basketball and other sports.

This kind of activity is new to her. She had never experienced this kind of activity in East city. Apart from East city not having beautiful gardens and rivers, nor did she have any friends to do that. Her mother? She was too busy taking care of her business. Meanwhile, Dustin, her close friend at that time, never liked this kind of activity.

They both sat on park benches while enjoying the sandwiches and mineral water that Evan had bought.

"Why did you build Starlight Investment?" This made Rose think since last night. Evan seriously built his own business since high school, even though Evan is the heirs of Collins Group. He didn’t even have to worry about the future because he would inherit the Collins Group one day.

Chapter 105: Let’s Get Married!

Evan smiled at Rose’s question.

Everyone who knew his true identity would definitely ask him that. He was used to hearing it and always too lazy to answer them. But, now his girlfriend asked, he should tell her his real reason.

Rose listened in silence as she saw his face turn gloomy. It felt like she wanted to say something to cheer him up. Rose could feel how sad he was now, telling her about his past and his relationship with his father. But she hesitated and didn’t know what to say.

After a few seconds of silence, Evan turned her gaze to Rose.

"The turning point in my life was when my parents divorced. The happy family that I had in mind instantly disappeared. It was a time when I hated my mother and father so much because they only thought about themselves without thinking about my feelings. They never asked me or told me about their divorce. I actually found out from other people..." Evan’s voice trembles.

Rose spontaneously held his big palm with her hands. She grabbed his hand tightly as if she wanted to transfer her warmth to his cold hands.

Evan smiled, looking at his hand, "Don’t take pity on me, Rose. I’m fine now...."

Rose remained silent, but still, she held his hands.

Evan continued his words again, "When my parents divorced, I took that opportunity to move out from The Collins house and start to build my own business. I don’t want to live as Evan Collins, the son of entrepreneur Anthony Collins. But I want to live as myself, Evan, who builds and follows his own footsteps, not his father’s. And since then, a new Chapter of my life has finally begun...."

Rose felt touched by Evan’s story. She never imagined Evan’s life was not as smooth as she thought because he was born into a wealthy family. And his parents’ divorce was a heavy blow to him.

Now, she felt regret when she told him; She needed his father’s blessing if he wanted to marry her. Will Evan be able to get that blessing if his relationship with his father is less harmonious like now? Rose feels worried about that.

After a short while, Rose said, "Evan, you don’t need to ask for your father’s blessing. I’m willing to marry you now... your mother’s blessing is enough." She lowered her head to hide her blushing face. She was shy to tell him that she was willing to register their marriage certificate.

Evan couldn’t help but smile hearing Rose’s words. Does this girl agree to register their marriage now? Really? Afraid what he hears is wrong. He places his hand on her chin and makes her look at his face. He stared at her hazel eyes intensely, "Are you serious with what you are saying?"

"Hmm... I am! Let’s register our marriage. I won’t make you wait too long, Evan. We can go to register our marriage today if you want to...." Rose smiles sweetly. There is no reason to delay registering their marriage. She is 22 years old and also graduated from college. Now she is starting her own business. And the important thing is that her mother has given the blessing and Evan’s mother.

So, no need to wait for anything, right?

Evan pulled her into his arms before she had the chance to continue her words. Feeling shocked, Rose could only stay still in his embrace.

"But..." Evan took a deep sigh as he released his hug. He is silent as their eyes meet.

Rose felt alert. Why is there a ’BUT’? She frowns, looking sharp into his eyes.

"I think we should wait until I get my father’s approval...." Evan’s voice sounds soft, but Rose felt like someone hit her eardrum.

Rose was dumbfounded. Why? When she had agreed to register their marriage, now this man backed out?

She remained silent and waited until he finished his words.

Evan continued, "You don’t have to worry, Rose. I have my way of making that old man give his blessing. And, there’s my grandpa... I think he will like you the moment he sees you. We don’t need my father’s blessing if Grandpa likes you!"
