Chapter 156: Can I Stay?

Evan was stunned to see Molly asleep in Rose’s arms.

Slowly he picked her up and moved her to the bed. When he placed his mother-in-law on the bed, he was surprised to see her face. She looks so pale, and her eyes are puffy. Even though she was currently fast asleep, Evan could clearly see the traces of tears there.

"What’s wrong, Rose? Why does Aunt Molly look so sad?" Evan was worried about Molly’s condition.

Rose didn’t answer Evan’s question right away. She just followed him out of her mother’s room. After closing the door, she asked Evan to follow her to her bedroom.

It was almost midnight when Rose left her mother’s room. Some parts of her body felt sore, especially her shoulders. And until now, her mind was still noisy, like a storm left inside her. How could she sleep if her mind and heart were not at peace, like now? While she felt her body was exhausted.

"Evan, let’s talk inside...." Rose let Evan enter her bedroom.

"Mom suddenly misses her parents. She cries until she is exhausted and sleeps in my arms. Now my arm hurts so much..." Rose massaged her still sore shoulder.

Rose was confused; Did she need to be honest with Evan or not? There was a fear that Evan would leave her if she told him what her mother had said about her father. Born without marriage. And the sad thing is that her mother doesn’t know who her father is. She believed no man would accept a woman like her, including Evan, who comes from a respected family in this country. Of course, this man will leave her, right!?

Did she have to keep this a secret from Evan? But would keeping it a secret from Evan would be fair to him? All these questions that appear in her mind bother her a lot.

"Let me massage your shoulders!" Evan started gently massaging Rose’s shoulders and arms. "Have you asked your mom to move to the capital?"

Rose shook her head. She had no chance to discuss anything else with her mother.

"Evan, can we stay here one more night? Looks like I need some time to talk to my mom about it....’’ Rose said. She wanted to try to comfort her mother before returning to the Capital.

"Sure, Rose! We can stay here as long as you want. I can work from anywhere...." Evan had asked his COO to take care of the company as usual. He can’t let Rose stay here alone and vows to stay by her side. He could feel, right now, something bothering her mind.

Rose grabs Evan’s hand and stops him from massaging her shoulder. Then she turned and sat facing him. "Evan, thank you, but I only needed one night. I must hurry back to the Capital to prepare my mother’s house so she can move immediately...."

Rose couldn’t bear to let her mother live alone in this house, especially after knowing her mother had never loved another man. She must be very lonely.

She wanted to comfort her mother and help her move on quickly. Her mother deserves to live happily like any other woman her age. Her mother definitely needs a man she can spend her life with.

"Alright! Now, let’s sleep. You look so tired."

"Hmm... I am. I want to straighten my back." Rose stood from the sofa and looked at Evan. "You can go back to your room, Evan. You can use that window...." Rose pointed at the window that looked like a door leading to an outdoor garden near her bedroom which would take him back to the guest room upstairs.

"Rose, I can’t sleep alone anymore since I sleep by your side." Evan’s words could make Rose feel her heart tighten. And when she saw him standing and walking toward her, her heart started to beat faster.

"Can I stay here? Let’s sleep together...." Evan places his hand on her waist as his eyes look sharply at her. For a moment, Evan saw his girl’s eyelashes flatter beautifully. Then, his eyes look slightly below her lips. It makes him swallow hard. "C-Can I?"

"Ooh..." Rose could only agree. How could she refuse that request? She also wanted to sleep with him. Cuddle in his embrace till morning. Just like him, she also can’t stand sleeping alone now. Somehow this man made her feel addicted.

"Alright, now go wash. I will wait for you here..." Evan kissed her cheeks. He sat on the sofa waiting for her girl. He didn’t want to lay down first, afraid he would fall asleep.

After closing the bathroom door behind her, Rose was frozen in her place for a moment. She still couldn’t control her beating heart. Her mind began to be filled with sultry thoughts, making her body heat slightly arise.

In a hurry, she took a cold shower to make her body temperature back to normal. Afterward, she wears her night silky black gown. Once again, she looked at her appearance in the mirror.

"Are you ready, Rose? Tonight may be your night! Nothing is holding you back from doing it anymore...." Rose talks to herself as a sassy smile appears from the corner of her lips, imagining Evan will devour her tonight.

She slapped her cheek gently with both hands to bring her consciousness back. Her mind was utterly insane. How could she have thought that far? Damn it, Rose! She couldn’t help but curse herself a few times.

She was so nervous because she thought Evan would devour her tonight, but it turned out her imagination was empty. Evan didn’t make a move on her. He hugged her tightly, and then that was it. She could clearly hear the sound of his heart beating normally. Embarrassed by what was on her mind, she could only scold herself inwardly.

How could she forget Evan’s promise? This man is steadfast in his stance. He had promised not to touch her until they were married. Damn Rose!

Rose tried to distract herself from the embarrassment by thinking about Nick, her father. Her concern now is; Was hiding her father’s identity the right choice?

Chapter 157: Honest

Evan is her soon-to-be husband. Rose wanted to be honest with him. She didn’t want her marriage to start with dishonesty. She must tell him everything. But once again, deep down in her heart, Rose worried that her honesty would change how Evan looked at her.

Now she seemed to be at a crossroads. Confused about which direction to choose. Should she tell Evan? Or should this be a secret between her and her mother and be buried forever?

After a few moments of Thinking, Rose decides to tell Evan everything. This man deserved to know her past.

If she knew about her father who never existed and Evan still chose to be with her, she would be very grateful. However, if her honesty makes them separate, she will be okay with it. As long as they haven’t registered their marriage yet. Rose was frozen. Somehow her heart feels hurt at the thought of this.

Was she ready to part with this man?

"Evan... are you sleeping?" Rose slowly raised her head to see Evan’s face. Even though the room looked dim from the moonlight coming in through the window, she could still see the silhouette of Evan’s face. His eyes tightly shut. He was asleep.

Rose quietly took a long and deep sigh as she buried her head again in his chest and tried to close her eyes. She will tell him tomorrow. She can wait for a few hours before telling him the truth.

But before long, she was surprised when she heard Evan hoarse a deep voice from above her head.

"Not yet. What is it?" Evan slowly opened his eyes, surprised the girl was still awake. While he was struggling to contain his arousal.

"I want to tell you something..." Rose releases Evan’s hugs, so she can clearly see his face.

"Can we wait till tomorrow?" Evan glanced at his watch. It’s past midnight. He was worried about this girl being exhausted. He could see from her eyes that she looked exasperated.

"I’m sorry. I can’t wait till tomorrow... I want you to know this matter sooner. Because it concerns our future." Rose’s voice trembles.

Evan was stunned to hear her words. About their future? And why does she sound like she’s sad? His heart tightens, and alert worries this girl will ask for a breakup! He will never allow her to ask that.

"Alright. Tell me... what is it? Why are you so nervous?" Evan stroked her cold cheek gently.

"This is about my father. And this is a long story, Evan. I want you to know my past from me, and please, after you hear, I want to know your opinion about it..."

Evan started to worry. Why suddenly does Rose talk about her late father?

"Hmm, I will..." He would hear what she wanted to say.

"I just discovered that since I was in her womb, my mother has lost her memory about my father..." Rose told Evan everything she heard from her mother. She didn’t hide anything from Evan because she wanted to listen to his honest opinion about it.

Was it because of her mother’s dark past that she could not be accepted into the Collins family? This is Rose’s concern right now.

"Evan, I am aware my family matters are a mess... If your family knows, they will definitely be against our relationship." Rose tries to read Evan’s expression, but he now shows none. She continued her words, "I want to know your opinion. Tell me your honest thoughts. If you can’t accept me I...."

Before she could finish her words, suddenly, Evan sealed her lips. She was shocked, but she didn’t refuse him. She slowly opened her lips to give him access. Her heart was beating so fast as his tongue touched her. He pressed her so hard that she could feel his kiss’s passion. Her whole body tensed up as her body heat slowly arose. It made her heart feel like it was ready to explode. It felt so hot.

"Ugh..." She moans when Evan bites her inner lips. Her hand gripped Evan’s arm tightly. She needs air or will die because of a lack of oxygen. With her little strength, she pushed Evan away. She gasped air as their lips parted.

Too shy, Rose hid her blushing face in the blanket while trying to calm her heart and mind.

Why did Evan suddenly kiss her so hot? It was the first time Evan had kissed her this way. Is he angry?

"Rose Wilson, listen...." Rose was astonished to hear his deep voice so close to her ear. His burning eyes looked at her after the blanket landed on the floor. He threw it. That time, Rose realized Evan was so angry at her. But why?

Rose blinked, looking at Evan, who was already above her. She didn’t know what to do, just stared at him silently.

"I love you, Rose. Not because of who your father is but because of you. Only you, no one else. What happened in the past won’t make me stop loving you and marrying you. Stop overthinking..." He pressed her as he buried his head on her soft neck and kissed her until he was satisfied.

"I told you before... if my family is against us. I will just remove my last name and change it to yours. What I’m saying is firm. No one will hold me back from being with you...." Evan slowly moved and lay beside her.

Evan and Rose looked at the ceiling above. No one spoke, and no one moved as if both were lost in each’s thoughts.

Rose was stunned hearing Even words. Is he serious? This prince of Collins Group is willing to leave everything for her?

Instantly her chest felt tight, too touched by the love Evan gave her. How could this man love her so deeply? Why is he treating her like this? Does she deserve to be loved this much? Many thoughts appear in her mind.

Suddenly the tears she had been holding back for a while slowly flowed from the corners of her eyes. Silently she cries...

Chapter 158: Sad

Evan was shocked when she could feel the girl’s body shaking. He immediately looked at her and pulled her into his arms. He holds her thigh, trying to comfort her.

"Rose!? W-why are you crying?" Did he just say something that hurt her heart? Evan worries. What’s more, her cries are getting loud.

"Sorry, Rose... I’m so sorry if my words made you sad. But please stop crying. My heartfelt ache to see you cry like this...." Evan releases his embrace. He was trying to wipe her tears, but to his surprise, the girl suddenly smiled amid her tears.

What happened? Why does she suddenly smile?

"Evan, I cried because I was too happy to hear your flattery words..." Rose can’t help but smile when she sees how panicked Evan is.

"Huh! Shouldn’t you be smiling? But, why are you crying?" Evan is perplexed.

"Mmm... Well, you will not understand how my brain works, Evan." Rose smiles as she buries her head in his chest again. "Let’s sleep...." She placed her hand on Evan’s waist and tried to sleep.

After being honest with Evan, she felt her shoulders feel so light. Instantly her mind became much calmer. And she was very grateful that Evan would not leave her even though her parents’ past was so miserable. This man promised to protect her and her mother. He was even willing to give up everything he had to be with her.

How could she not be moved by this? Right now, she can’t express how grateful this man was for being chosen. She could only vow in her heart that she would be loyal to this man.

After some time, Rose was fast asleep in Evan’s arms. But Evan’s eyes were still wide open.

He slowly releases Rose’s hand. He got out of bed and took out his cell phone. After he dialed a string of numbers, he stood near the glass window.

"I need you to investigate someone...." All this time, Evan never once investigated Rose and her family. But after hearing Rose’s story about her father, whose identity was not revealed till now, he was forced to do it.

"Boss, who will you investigate?" A male voice was heard from the other end.

"This is top secret. And I need it fast. The person’s name is Molly Wilson. Find out what happened after she graduated from college... It’s about 23 years ago."

After making the orders, Evan didn’t go back to bed to sleep with Rose, but he remained standing there. His sharp eyes looked at the lonely moon in the sky as his mind was busy thinking about his plan to find Rose’s father. He believes he can definitely see he will bring this man to meet Rose.

Although 23 years ago, not many places in this country had CCTV, somehow, he believed he would get a clue about Nick. As long as Nick is still alive and living in this country. He would definitely find him.

Seeing her fiancé very sad when she told her mother’s past, she was able to make his heart hurt. He wouldn’t let Rose be sad anymore. So is his mother-in-law. He had promised to protect them before, so he would.

Evan believes that his father was against him marrying Rose because his father already knew that Rose’s father never existed. And he hated his father so much because he investigated Rose’s background.

Rose was surprised when she saw Evan chatting with her mother in the living room; He looked well-groomed as if he was ready to go somewhere.

No wonder she did not see him in her bedroom when she woke up. She was annoyed because he didn’t leave a message for her. If only the traces of the pillow he was using weren’t visible, she’d probably think last night’s sleeping with Evan was just a dream.

Rose’s eyes looked at her mother. Instantly, her heart calmer when she didn’t see any trace of sadness that radiated from her mother’s face. Her mother looked so beautiful in her usual bright blue dress. Her laugh is now full of charm, like the laugh of a goddess who happily comes from heaven.

She felt touched seeing Evan could make her mother laugh like now. Rose forgot the last time she saw her mother laughing and having fun like this.

Rose stood at her place for a few minutes, not wanting to disturb their conversation. She tried to satisfy her eyes, seeing the happiness that radiated from her mother’s face, making Rose feel calm and happy.

She didn’t remember how long she stood there watching her two favorite people in life warmly chat. But not long after, she heard the faint voice of her mother scolding her. She seemed to be pulled back to her reality. She could only smile awkwardly at her mother.

"My goodness, Rose! Can you return to your room and change into your proper clothes?" Molly couldn’t believe what she was seeing right now. Her daughter had just woken up from her sleep with messy hair flowing down to her back, and she was still wearing her nightgown.

Molly sends a death glare to her lazy daughter, who humiliated herself in front of her boyfriend. She worries Evan will cut a tie with her daughter after looking at how messy her daughter is now.

"Good morning, Evan. You woke up so early, huh!?" Rose greeted Evan while giving him the impression that she didn’t like how he left without waking her up.

"It’s not my son-in-law who wakes up too early, but you who wakes up so late, lady! Can you change your clothes first?" Molly raises her voice to scold her daughter.

"Gee! Mom... don’t worry. Evan liked it when my hair was messy, like now. Right, Evan?" Rose chuckled as she waved her hand and hurried back into her bedroom before her mother threw a sleeper on her. She can see how sulky her mother is right now.

If only her mother knew that her beloved Son-In-Law was sleeping with her, she might faint, right? Rose could only shake her head as she widely smiled when she imagined her mother knew their secret.

Chapter 159: Shocked

Rose didn’t spend much time in her room. After a few minutes, she returned in the simple clothes she usually wears at home. But when she arrived in the living room, she didn’t see her mother, only Evan, who was focused on watching the news on TV. His face was so serious till he didn’t notice her presence.

Curious about the news, Rose glanced at the TV screen and was surprised to see the TV showing the presidential election candidates being announced. Rose knows who will win this presidential election; Jayson Spencer, father of Sean Spencer, her savior.

Rose is increasingly amazed by the Spencer family. They are so influential in this country’s military, politics, and economy.

Thinking about Spencer, reminded Rose of an appointment with sister Amanda Spencer who had called her several times just to confirm their meeting. Amanda Spencer had a different personality from most rich girls. Usually, they will not randomly make friends with anyone. But Amanda Spencer is different, she has an approachable personality, which made Rose comfortable to chat with her and now they became close to each other even though they had only met once.

"Your uncle is running for president? What are his chances?" Rose asks as she sits beside Evan.

"Well, I’m not interested in politics, and I don’t really care about his chances."

"I think your uncle will definitely win the election." Rose nonchalantly said. Then, before Evan could reply, she directly continued, "Where’s my mom?"

Evan frowned at Rose, taken aback by what she just said about his uncle. Still, after seeing her smile, he knew this girl was just saying random political stuff and wasn’t really interested in politics. He turned off the television and stood up from his seat.

"Mother went downstairs to the minimart. She asked you to eat your breakfast...." Evan took Rose’s hand and led her to the dining table. "Hungry? Eat your breakfast, this is almost lunch, and you haven’t eaten anything yet. You might get sick..."

Rose only saw a breakfast set on the table. "Have you had breakfast?" Rose asked Evan, who was already sitting beside her. This morning he was so handsome that she couldn’t look at him for too long, afraid she’d be mesmerized by his charms again.

"Hmm... yeah, I have breakfast, my lovely late owl. I had breakfast at eight in the morning with your mother." Said Evan with a funny face, trying to mock Rose.

"Then why did you not wake me up before going upstairs?" Rose looked at him as she swallowed her warm soup. She is still not happy because this man did not wake her up.

"I was about to, but I couldn’t. You look so peaceful and goddess-like beautiful in your sleep. How could I wake you up when you sleep like that? Nah, I can’t do that. I’m not that strong...."

Rose was speechless hearing his flattering words. Don’t want to provoke this man any further, she continued her breakfast. Still, before she could finish her soup, suddenly, Evan pulled her chair closer to him. What he was doing right now was able to make her heart shake. Unexpectedly her heart beat faster than usual.

The shock hadn’t gone away with his sudden act. Rose felt his big hand touch her chin and gently forced her to look at his face. She was stunned. Their faces are so close as their eyes lock on each other. She was mesmerized looking at his eyes. His face drew closer as he leaned toward her. Too close till she can feel his warm breath brush her face.

"W-What will he do?" She mumbled in her heart, trying to figure out his next move. Then suddenly she could guess this man may kiss her. What did he think?

She was nervous, not because this man wanted to kiss her, but because right now they were in the dining room and her mother could show up at any time. And when she saw his eyes, she was stunned. She had never seen his eyes lit up like a fire in them.

Evan stared at the girl and called her in his seductive low voice, "Wifey...."

"Hmm..." Rose’s voice caught in her throat. Too nervous about their strange position. Her back slightly leans back with her face up, looking at him. His hand holds her back and his head just a few inches above her face. Anyone who looks at their seductive posture can tell what will happen next.

Rose closed her eyes slowly as she felt Evan’s soft and warm lips touch her lips. But the kiss was too short. She felt unhappy with Evan’s move; After he rummaged through her calm heart, this man suddenly stopped!? He just pecked her lips? Gosh!

"You should breathe now!" Evan playfully smiled as he pulled back her head and straightened to sit on his chair. He felt in a good mood when he saw Rose’s flaming face.

Too embarrassed by the sudden kiss, Rose lowered her head to continue her breakfast as her mind was busy planning an act of revenge on this man. Gosh! It’s still early, but this guy is already teasing her!? She was annoyed.

"Evan Collins! I’ll get my revenge on you." A playful smile framed her face as she made a promise in her heart.

Evan cleared his throat before saying, "What are you going to do today?"

Rose lifted her head to look at Evan, feeling much calmer, "I’ll just stay home with mom. But, if she wants to go somewhere, then I will accompany her. How about you? You look dashing. Do you have an appointment this morning?"

"Yes! Professor Liam knows I’m back, so he asks to meet me for lunch. If only you could go with me, it would be more fun..."

"I hope so. But, you know the reason I came here? I need to talk to mom and comfort her..."

"I know. You should tell mom not to overthink anything. I will always be here for you and her. I promise I will take care of both of you...." Evan stroked Rose’s back gently, trying to comfort her. He knew this girl was still worried about her mother.

 

Chapter 160: Dream

Molly returned from the minimart. She brought a lot of things and arranged them in the cupboard. At the same time, Rose had just returned from her bedroom and saw her mother was busy in the kitchen. She immediately helped her.

"Mom, where’s aunty Nora?" Since yesterday she had not seen her.

"I told her to go on vacation while you were here. Since she stays with me, she can’t go anywhere...." Molly finished tidying all the stuff she brought from the minimart. She stood up and walked to the fridge, "Do you want to drink something cold?"

"Yeah..." Rose accepts a cold soda from her mother. "Mom, let’s talk in the living room."

Rose immediately tells her mother about the house she bought. She also wants her mother to move to the Capital as soon as possible. The sooner she moved, the better.

"Y-You bought a house? Where did you get the money from?" Molly’s eyes sharply looked at her daughter.

How shocked Molly was to hear her daughter had bought a house. Where did she get the money from? All she knows, her daughter has invested all her money in setting up her company. Her new company can’t make money this fast, right?

"Little Lady! Did you take a loan from the bank?" Molly couldn’t contain her anger when she imagined her daughter had borrowed money from the bank. She doesn’t need a house if her daughter has to bear debts in the bank. Molly was pretty content with owning one property in this city. She will not move!

Rose was amused at how panicked her mother was now, "Hahaha, mom, how can you doubt your daughter’s intelligence and business skill?"

Looking at her daughter’s calm smile made her even more worried. Then suddenly, something popped up in her mind that made her enraged. She slapped Rose’s shoulder lightly while her eyes glared at her.

"You borrow from Evan?" She will be mad at her if she really borrows from her boyfriend. Even though they were getting married soon, she didn’t want her daughter to do that. She could still afford to buy her own house if she wanted to. She has a lot of money in the bank. Why did her daughter borrow money from her boyfriend?

Rose’s body tightens after receiving her mother’s slap. She was speechless.

How could her mother read her mind now?

Her mother would get angry if she said she bought a house from Evan with a soft loan, so she decided to hide that from her sulky mother.

Rose told her that she had made massive money from investing in stock trading for the last few weeks. And it happened to be one of the rich old men who didn’t need money, pitied her, and sold his house cheaply.

Fortunately, her innocent mother believed what she had narrated to her. She felt relieved when her mother immediately agreed to move to the Capital.

"My Pretty daughter, your mother is quite rich. The value of this building is enough to buy a house in the Capital. Besides, I still have a lot of savings in the bank. So, if you need money, tell mom. I will give it to you. Please, never try to take out a loan from the bank or other people!"

"I know, mom, don’t worry!"

"That’s good if you understand!" Molly felt relieved.

Molly felt touched by this sudden change in her life. Because living in the Capital has been one of her dreams since her teens. But her dream was buried when she had to raise her daughter alone. Now her daughter repays her by making her dream come true soon from their plan. She had nothing more to say other than being moved.

Living in another city with her daughter for the last few weeks was hard for Molly. She couldn’t see her daughter when she missed her. Now, the distance was no longer an issue for them. If she lived in the Capital, her daughter could visit her at any time.

While trying to hide her blurry eyes, Molly accidentally saw a sparkling ring on her daughter’s fingers. Instantly she looks her daughter in the eyes, too happy to know Evan finally proposed to her little daughter.

"Daughter, I’m so happy for you...." Molly took her daughter’s hand and looked closely at her finger. She can see how beautiful the pink diamond rings circled on her finger. "How did my son-in-law propose to you?"

Molly felt so happy for her little daughter, but at the same time, she felt jealous. She had never experienced something like this. Suddenly Nick’s face flashes through her mind. It makes her heart tighten. Afraid her sadness would swallow her again, she drew her eyes to look elsewhere in a hurry.

"Mom, Evan proposed to me in Vale city. It’s quite romantic and intimate, just the two of us. You know, mom... I don’t really like being the center of attention. So, I prefer he proposes to me in a quiet rather than a public place." Rose felt blushed, remembering how sweet Evan proposed to her.

"My Son-in-law is indeed such a sweet guy. You should be kind to him. So when are you guys going to get married?"

"Well, when we return to the capital, we will register our marriage at the civil registry office." Rose hesitated to tell her mother about this plan. She was worried that her mother would be angry that they would marry without a party. She already agrees with Evan that they will register their marriage first. As for the wedding ceremony, it doesn’t really matter to her. So does Evan.

"So soon!?" Molly was shocked to hear that. She thought they would just get married later this year or early next year. But it turns out that in a few days, they will be officially married!?

"Yes. Evan didn’t want to wait long, mom."

"I know. Evan always assures me that he will marry you soon...." Molly could only smile. She was too happy for her daughter to be able to find a man like Evan, who is a very responsible and loving man. Not only does Evan love her daughter, but Evan also cares about her.
