Ch. 161..165: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 161-165
Chapter 161: Evil In-Law
"Daughter, how about Evan’s parents? Have they accepted you?" Molly worries that her past will make Evan’s parents reject her daughter.
Rose was silent for a moment. Evan’s father hasn’t given his blessing, but his mother really likes her. And for her, Evan’s mother’s blessing is enough.
"Yes, sure, mom!" Rose paused as she realized her mother must not have known that Evan’s mother was Aunty Doris, her doctor. "Mom, you will be shocked if you know who Evan’s mother is...."
Molly frowns, looking at her daughter. "Did I know her? Is she a public figure?" She was worried if Evan’s family wasn’t from ordinary people like her. Her daughter would definitely have a hard time dealing with her future in-laws.
Her daughter might be cast out of the Evan family. Just thinking about it makes Molly’s heart feel slightly aching. She couldn’t let it happen. She couldn’t bear to hear or see her daughter poorly treated by her in-laws.
"Daughter! You must be honest with mom if Evan’s parents are against you. I won’t let Evan snatch you from me! If they disagree with you... so you better break up with him!"
Even though she likes Evan, she doesn’t want her daughter to have an unhappy marriage. Molly prefers her daughter shouldn’t marry Evan than for her to endure the pain of living with her evil in-law.
The shadows of the ’makjang’ from Korean dramas she used to watch were now disturbing her mind. The evil mother-in-law who tortured her daughter-in-law was always successfully stirring her emotions. Just seeing the drama makes her emotional. What if it happened to her own little daughter? After so many struggles raising her little daughter alone? No way! She will never allow that!
"My in-law is so kind to me, Mom. Please don’t be worried. And, guess what!? You already met Evan’s mother but didn’t realize it." Rose smiled.
"I have met Evan’s mother? When? Where? Do I know her? What is her name?" Molly suddenly forgets her anxiety about the evil-in-law, barraging Rose with many questions, trying to figure out who Evan’s mother is.
Rose smiles, looking at her mother, curious, "Aunty Doris is Evan’s mother...."
"WHAT! No way! You must be lying. You’re not lying?"
"Of course, I’m not lying, mom. Why would I lie about this?" Rose laughs slightly. "Well, I’ve visited Aunty Doris’ house. She cooked for me. And, you know what, I bought a house near her house. So when you move to the capital, you will be her neighbor."
Molly was shocked to learn that Dr. Doris, her personal doctor, was Evan’s mother. Her future in-law. This news left her speechless, too happy because her daughter had a lovely mother-in-law like Doris. Molly was lost in her excitement, but later she suddenly realized her daughter’s last two sentences.
"You said you bought a house for mom near Aunty Doris’ house?" Molly was delighted to hear her daughter’s words. She really liked Doris. Since she had surgery, Doris called her a few times showing sincere care and concern. And since Doris discovered that Rose had moved to the capital, Doris called her even more frequently. She has been considering Doris as her close friend for a while now.
"Yes, mom..."
"Rose, thank you for being such a good daughter. Mom is very grateful to have such an understanding daughter like you. I will be happy to live in a new place near your Aunt Doris’ house." Molly grabbed her daughter’s hand and pulled her into her arms happily. Her daughter prepared everything for her, bought her a house, and chose a place close to Doris, the only female friend she had right now.
As a single parent who spends her life on her children, Molly doesn’t have time for herself. She even forgot the last time she spoke to her college friend. Since knowing she was pregnant without a husband, she slowly withdrew from her college friends because she was afraid of being ostracized by her friends.
However, her guess was wrong. None of her friends asked her who the man who got her pregnant was. No one is talking behind her back either. But, one by one, her friends disappeared from her life. They are busy with their own world, pursuing careers in other cities. While she? She was detained in this city with her daughter. Of all her friends, only Jamie Stone remains beside her.
Molly couldn’t help but smile at the thought of that fool Jamie Stone. That man had been chasing her for a long time. Still, for some reason, the door to her heart was tightly shut, as if Nick had stolen her heart away. Even though her mind forgot about Nick, her heart didn’t. Never once had her heart fluttered for another man as she felt the first time she saw Nick.
"Mom, you will like that place. When I first saw the place, I immediately liked it and thought I would buy a house for you there..."
"Is it expensive?"
"It’s a good deal, mom! Don’t worry, though I bought that house for you, I still have money to run my company. Well, you can think of that house as a gift from me because all this time you have taken care of me till now...."
Rose sincerely said what she had in her heart. Her gratitude for her mother made her eager to return the favor. What’s more, to know all this time, her mother spent her youth caring for her while other women her age had fun.
"Oh, please, Rose! Don’t say those words." Suddenly Molly’s heart tightens hearing her daughter. She immediately left his daughter, not wanting her daughter to see her blurry eyes.
"Mom! What happened?" Rose panicked, looking at her mother as if her mother was avoiding her.
Is she sad again? Rose frowns, looking at her mother walking to her bedroom.
"Follow me. There’s something I want to give you." Molly shouted. Rose quickly followed her mother, curious about what she wanted to give.
Rose sat in the seating area in her mother’s bedroom. After a few minutes, she saw her mother return with something in her hand.
"This is for you...." Molly placed a bank book on the table as she looked at her daughter.
Chapter 162: Threatened
Rose was stunned when she saw the bank book and a card lying on the table.
Why did her mother suddenly give her this?
Didn’t she already say she bought the house without borrowing money from the bank!?
Is she angry again?
Rose didn’t understand why her mother’s mood had changed like this. She felt like she was riding a roller coaster facing her mother’s attitude.
Then, she remembers reading an article about the Symptoms of early menopause: mood swings. Seeing her mother have this sign, she became suspicious that her mother was experiencing her early menopause. Gosh!
Rose couldn’t make her mother angry, or else she would really be mad at her. She tried hard to think of a way to politely refuse to accept her mother’s money.
"Take it! This money will be more useful if it’s in your hands. I can’t manage this money. You better manage it for me."
"But mom..."
"Consider it as my investment in your company. I heard from Evan that you named your company using your grandpa’s name, right?" Rose nods. Molly smiles as she continues her words, "You use my father’s name, so I have the right to invest in that company."
Rose was stunned. She couldn’t refuse her mother this time, or she would be mad at her. Rose accepted the book account and slightly opened it to see the amount out of curiosity. She froze in her place when she saw how much money there was. With this much money, her mother automatically became the largest shareholder in Wilson Group.
"M-Mom! Do you have this much money? For real?" She was shocked. Rose didn’t expect her mother to be this rich. As she remembered in her previous life, when her mother died, she never knew about this money. Rose thought she should have received this money as her heir in her earlier life.
Then, a wave of anger struck her. She remembered at that time, her mother’s assets in this city were controlled by Dustin’s Mother. "That bitch!" Rose silently screamed.
That bastard mother must have found this money; of course, that old woman kept and spent it for herself. She still remembers she signed a document to give a power of attorney to Dustin’s mother to manage all the assets left by her late mother. Never once had she heard about this money. She only knew her mother owned this building.
Damn it! How could you be so stupid, Rose!
She can’t believe her past life is so pathetic. Because of a man, she lost everything; Her money, youth, and soul were in Dustin’s hands. She hated him even more now.
"Daughter... I told you before that I made a fortune selling your grandpa’s land. And, all this time, I never spent the money. I’m not the kind of woman who likes to buy unnecessary things. So, all the money I received then was in that book. You can use it to help the Wilson Group grow. So that your grandfather will be proud that you used his name..."
When Molly learned that her daughter had named her company with Wilson Group, it touched Molly so much. Her adoptive father will be happy in heaven because his name will be remembered as long as the Wilson Group is established. And because the money she has now is from her father’s heritage. She will use that money to help her daughter grow Wilson Group.
"Alright, mom. I will use this money for the Wilson Group, for grandpa. And because this money is so much, you will automatically be the biggest shareholder in the company."
"Mom doesn’t really care about that kind of thing. I believe that my daughter can definitely become a reliable and successful businesswoman. Mom could only pray for your success...."Molly gently stroked Rose’s hand, feeling proud of her.
"Hmm... I’ll take care of it. Don’t worry."
"When are you going back to the capital?" Molly glanced at her daughter, who now lay on her shoulder.
"Tomorrow morning after breakfast. I have to go back immediately to check the house that mom will live in. Besides, I also still have a lot of pending work..."
Rose had to have a meeting with Oliver about Rapid Realty. After the company’s transition process is successful. She did not want to delay exploring the gold mine in one of the company’s land assets. The sooner she found that gold, the better.
The next day after breakfast, Rose and Evan immediately said goodbye to Molly.
"Mom! We are leaving now. Please take care of yourself." Rose hugged her mother tightly. It was hard to be separated from her mother again. However, she had to return to the capital to care for many things.
"Go! Don’t keep my son-in-law waiting." Molly let go of her daughter’s arms. It had been a few minutes since her daughter just hugged her. She could feel that her daughter was stalling for time.
"Mom, I will come to pick you up in two weeks...." Rose waved her hand while smiling at her mother, who was still standing in the parking lot. "Take care of yourself, mom."
"You too, take care. And call me when you guys arrive, okay?" Molly waved to her daughter. "Son-in-law, please take good care of my Rose!"
"Yes, Mom. You have my word." Replied Evan with a smile as he started the car engine.
Seeing their car moving away, the smile adorning Molly’s face suddenly disappeared, replaced with a gloomy expression. Her hands clenched into fists holding back the restlessness in her heart.
But suddenly, she hears Jamie Stone say, "Why didn’t you tell her? Rose deserves to know, Molly!" His voice was deep. It was clear how worried he was right now.
Molly looked back to see Jamie. He was standing not far behind her, leaning on the stairs, looking at her with worried eyes.
"I know! But I don’t want to worry her. That little girl will not return to the capital if she finds out."
Jamie took a deep breath, not understanding how Molly was thinking at the moment. When her life was threatened, she chose to remain silent. It felt like he wanted to tell Rose everything, but on the other hand, he couldn’t betray Molly, the woman who owns his love and admiration.
Chapter 163: In Danger
At Wilson Group.
Oliver sat staring at his laptop screen. He couldn’t believe what he was reading and didn’t know how long he had been sitting. As his mind blanks from being too shocked by what he had found out.
"Is it because of this that Rose is desperate to acquire a trash company?" Oliver says to no one. Trying to keep his mind sane. "But, how did she know this? Does she have an insider there who tells her?"
After busy searching for the correct answers to the questions that popped up in his mind, none of the solutions that had been suggested satisfied him. Oliver pinches his brow, feeling a sudden headache. It felt strange if Rose knew there was a secret behind Rapid Realty. A vast secret that can bring bloodshed if the people behind the bankruptcy of this company are vicious.
"This must be just a coincidence, right!? Rose is just lucky...." Oliver stood from his seat, looking at the street below, trying to calm his shocked mind. If Rose is lucky she bought Rapid Realty and got Gold Mine, her luck can inevitably bring her a disaster.
"That girl probably didn’t know about this..."
Oliver took his cell phone. Wanted to dial Rose’s number. However, he gave up his intention after reading the incoming text from her. Rose informs him that she will soon fly back to the capital.
He sat back behind his laptop. His hands began to type fast, trying to find out who knew about the treasure. He had to do something to protect the Wilson Group, himself, and Rose. He was sure in the next few weeks or months, this news would come out and shake Astington.
Oliver finger dancing on the keyboard. After a few minutes of focus, his computer screen turned black. All the numbers and letters on the screen turn red, as well as the keyboard light that comes out red. The light looks like the keyboard computer used by professional gamers.
Then, a string of codes appears so fast on Oliver’s laptop screen that his finger doesn’t stop typing while his eyes focus. If someone or something is present in his office room, he may not notice it because he is so immersed.
After some time, his finger stops typing, and at the same time, the laptop screen returns to normal.
"This is the first thing I can do to protect the Wilson group...." Oliver took a deep sigh. He erased all traces of the company that discovered the gold mine. Then he also erased the document related to that land from all digital platforms.
His next step is must find a way to silence those who know about this. He already has that list of people who know. But the problem is, he didn’t have those capable people who could carry this kind of job.
Oliver slowly rose from his seat and stood near the glass wall. Drowning in his deep thoughts.
He must discuss this matter with someone. He knows someone who can help him, but he hasn’t contacted this person in a long time. And as far as he knows, this person is very mysterious. No one could find or trace this person unless this person wanted to. Oliver had no other choice but to contact this guy. He needs some help, or their life will be in danger.
Oliver strongly believed projects like this could spark bloodshed. What’s making this worse is that before getting this project, a few people had already moved behind the scenes to acquire Rapid Realty. Because he interfered with his hacking abilities, the Wilson Group won the auction.
"Did Rose know they were in danger? Playing with fire with Rapid Realty?" Oliver smirks. That girl is so innocent and naïve. She certainly would not have guessed it. She might think everything will run smoothly, and her competitors won’t try to retaliate against her plan. Yes, in her mind, she might only plan about this project’s funding and profit, not the scary consequences of acquiring it. Damn it, Rose!
Being immersed in his deep thoughts, Oliver suddenly heard someone talking to him, "Oliver, can we talk?" He looked at the door and was surprised to see James Stuart, with his curly hair looking neat standing in front of the wide-open door.
"Sure!" Oliver gestures to James to sit on the couch. After sitting in front of James, he asked him what he needed.
"It’s about Rapid Realty. I want to confirm the payment with Rose, but she is unreachable. So, I’d like to ask your opinion before I pay the full payment." James was worried for a few minutes. He tried to contact Rose, but strangely her cellphone was not active. Likewise with Sam’s cell phone.
"So, you want to complete the payment?"
"Yes! The payment deadline is today, till 11 AM. However, I want to make sure again before I proceed."
If James had asked him before he found out about the gold mine, he’d probably have asked him to wait till Rose came. From the start, he wasn’t very enthusiastic about Rapid Realty either. The company will not be able to give them benefits in the next few months after they take over. But now it’s different after he knows about the Gold Mine.
"You can proceed now! The sooner you finish, the better!"
"Alright, I will do as you say." James immediately leaves Oliver’s office. He had to go to the bank right now. But suddenly, James remembers Sam. He hasn’t seen him since yesterday. "Oliver, do you know where Sam is?" Asks James.
"Sam? No, I haven’t seen him since he left Vale city a couple of days ago. Looks like he caught up with Rose in East City." Last night when he returned to the capital, he flew alone. Sam had been missing since Rose and Evan left the hotel. It was annoying because he just left without saying goodbye.
"Rose, come to the office, right?" James asks again.
Oliver glanced at his watch, "Yeah, I think so. Her plane should have landed by now....." He returned to his desk after seeing James leave his room. There’s something he wanted to do now. To contact the man who can help them.
Chapter 164: Give Up
Oliver opened a unique web to communicate with underground organizations he had previously worked with. He types a string of code on the front web page. After a nanosecond, the black screen appeared again. There’s a ’Silver Phoenix’ emblem on the right corner of the page.
A popup message greeted him. He immediately wrote down his need to contact them. After finishing typing, as usual, the page disappeared by itself. Now, he could only wait. If the Silver Phoenix accepts the proposed job, that man will contact him in the next few hours.
Since handling the Rapid Realty acquisition case, Oliver has often felt burned out. He leaned back in his CEO chair as he closed his eyes, trying to rest his eyes.
He couldn’t wait to report his findings to Rose. The girl would have been shocked to death if she knew the trash company she bought would soon become a cash cow for their company. He still couldn’t believe Rose was lucky to buy Rapid Realty but worried that this gold mine would expose them to a lot of trouble.
For now, he will just take some rest. There will definitely be a way for the Wilson Group to take care of all the trouble. Silver Phoenix will help them.
His decision to join the Wilson Group is not a loss, but soon he will be able to compete with his family business. And can be proud that an abandoned child can surpass them. Damn it, Hester! You will see I will crush you all with my talent.
****
At the same time, near the private airport, a white jet landed.
Even though Rose was now 100 miles from East City, the nerves of leaving her mother in East City alone were testing her calmness. For some reason, her intuition seemed to signal to her that there was something behind her mother’s warm smile this morning.
And just now, when Rose called her mother, she could feel something weird in her tone. However, she couldn’t get her mother to say something. As usual, her mother avoided her whenever she asked about her worries.
This makes her dislike living far away from her mother because her intuition is always spot on and usually correct. She didn’t know if this was something she could be proud of or not. Silently she took a deep sigh, thinking about her mother.
Trying to distract her mind, she spoils her eyes with the road outside as their car passes the North Hills area to the business street where her office is located. She was mesmerized by seeing the towering mountains lay before her eyes. What she knows from her past life, The North Hills is Spencer’s property. Only the Spencer family lives in such a large area. Even the Collins couldn’t buy property in the area.
Immersed with the stunning view outside, suddenly Rose felt a hand land on her shoulder, followed by Evan’s voice, "Wifey, you look like you’re thinking about something. Tell me, what is bothering your mind right now?"
Rose turns back and meets his calming eyes. "Nothing. I was just mesmerized by the view of North Mountain. I wonder if we can hike there someday?"
"Many North Mountain areas are private property belonging to the Spencer family. But, I can bring you there if you want...." Evan glanced at the North mountain. Hearing Rose wanted to go there, he remembered the times when he usually hiked the mountain with Sean before moving to East City and before Sean got busy with his military career.
Rose was happy to hear Evan would bring her to climb. But, his following words make her give up her intention right away.
"Wifey, this is a great idea for a physical workout. I know you haven’t done any exercise the past few days at all..." Evan smiles, looking at how shocked his fiance is now. "Don’t tell you to give up already?"
"Gee... I’m not! But I want to take it slow." Of course, she wanted to master martial arts, but it seemed impossible to master it as quickly as she wanted. Even light physical exercise has drained her energy. What else if it’s intense training!? Gosh! Instantly she felt her head spinning, just imagining running for miles up to the top of the mountain.
"Evan, where’s Sam? Why can’t I contact him since yesterday?" Rose wanted to ask Sam to find her a shooting range. Mastering firearms is the most appropriate for her at this time.
Evan’s face instantly hardened. Sam was punished, but he didn’t ask him to turn off his cell phone. Because he knows Rose would definitely call him.
"Why are you looking for him?" Evan asked calmly.
"I want to ask him to find a shooting practice site...."
Evan looked surprised with what he heard now. Does this girl want to practice shooting? Is she kidding? Didn’t she ever say she was traumatized by the gunshots? Why now does she want to practice shooting!?
"Why so?"
"Well, I think shooting is easier to learn than martial arts...."
"It’s not easy to learn to shoot Rose. You have to be mentally strong. Believe me, it’s not as easy as you think. You also need physical exercise, especially training your hands and feet. In addition, even if you practice several times, not necessarily you can master shooting unless you are gifted. And, to get permission to use a firearm, you must pass many tests..." Evan’s voice is getting serious now.
Astington is one of the strictest countries in granting firearms permits. Not only can you buy weapons, but the owner of the weapon will go through a series of tests, psychology, and practice in the field. This girl must not know about these regulations, right?
Evan glanced at Rose and wanted to know how serious she was about the shooting practice. He was stunned, looking at her determined-looking eyes. That was the same look she asked him to teach martial arts.
"I know. I’ve researched on the internet. That’s why I thought shooting suits me well. I can definitely pass the test...."
After a few seconds of looking at the girl’s beaming eyes, Evan glances at Gavin, who is driving the car.
"Gavin! Did you hear what we were talking about?"
"Yes, boss!"
"Please contact Sam to arrange everything!"
Evan could only smile lightly in his heart. He was curious to know how long Rose would be excited about her shooting practice. Was it the same when she was so eager to learn martial arts? Should he guess this girl will give up again after practicing a few times? Evan looks at Rose with a meaningful smile.
Chapter 165: This Woman Knows!
At Wilson Group.
Upon arriving at the office, Rose immediately met Oliver who reported to her about the gold mine. She paused to think about something.
Staring silently at Rose made Oliver believe this girl must know about the gold mine. He couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, realizing that his best friend was one step ahead of him. This girl was deceiving him. She had managed to hide something so crucial like this. Damn it!
The thing troubling his mind at the moment is how Rose could know about this when the information about the land was top secret.
From the digital footprint, only a few people knew about the mine’s existence. In fact, all the researchers who first discovered gold are now dead. Their deaths would raise the curiosity of anyone who looked into it. Some died from accidents and illness, and the time of each event was not far apart.
Oliver was sure that the deaths of those people were not coincidental.
Just thinking about it made Oliver’s body shudder. He crossed his arms in front of his chest as his sharp eyes darted into Rose. She seemed calm, but he could see from the look in her eyes that this girl looked dreadful at this moment.
"So why did you hide this from me, Rose?" Oliver asked again when he saw that this girl was keeping her mouth tightly shut. "Did you know that your decision to buy Rapid Realty could bring us bad luck too?"
"What do you mean?" Rose frowned, confused by Oliver’s words. "Oliv, that Gold mine will be the source of our company’s wealth. Why are you cursing the land instead?"
"Indeed! But, have you ever known the story behind the discovery of that land?"
Rose was astonished. There’s a story behind it? What story?
For a few seconds, Rose tried to remember what happened in the past about the Global Group being the winning company to buy Rapid Realty. There was no bad news she had heard or read about the company afterward. From what she remembers, Global Group made a massive fortune with that land. In a short time, they became a company with substantial market caps in this country. Many mining companies from other countries compete to invest in the Global Group.
"My friend Rose! I’m glad we managed to get a Rapid Realty and a piece of land with abundant gold. However, after I researched deeper behind the company, I found that Rapid Realty is not as simple as you think. People lost their lives under suspicious circumstances because of it...."
What Oliver thought earlier was correct. Rose was utterly unaware that danger lurked them as a new owner of Rapid Realty.
Oliver could only take a deep sigh as he turned his gaze to see the building next to their office building. His eyes caught sight of the building, Starlight Apartment.
"And did you know that the building next door belongs to your fiance?"
"Yeah. That I know!"
"Did you also know this building belongs to him?"
Rose was dumbfounded. She didn’t know at all. She thought this Fortune building was owned by Dream Inc.
"Tsk, tsk... you know nothing, my friend!" Oliver turns his gaze again, looking at Rose. He knew what he said made her mind blow. She looked so shocked at this moment. "It seems there’s a lot you don’t know about him, Rose."
"My friend, so what should we do now? We just woke a sleeping lion... The people behind Rapid Realty won’t stay silent and do nothing after we snatch their gold mine, right?" Oliver continued his words again.
Rose’s heart sank. Suddenly she was at a loss for words.
While in Vale City, she had started to get suspicious when Global Group dared to bribe the committee to get a smooth acquisition of Rapid Realty. Even though this company is not promising. Only one of the company’s lands is really promising. There is a hidden treasure there, a gold mine. And as far as she knows, the gem was only found after several years when the Global group bought Rapid Realty.
But, after Oliver told the hidden story behind the company, Rose now understood why Global Group dared to bribe a high-ranking official. It turned out that the Global Group was responsible for Rapid Realty’s bankruptcy and willing to kill people for the gold mine they found.
Instantly Rose’s body felt shuddered as Oliver’s question successfully gave her a massive headache.
After a short while, Rose said, "Olive! Can you delete all the information about the land? I mean..."
"I did!" Oliver smiles calmly.
"Y-You already cleaned up?"
"Yes! But the problem is, how do we silence those who know?" Oliver takes his phone and sends a file to Rose’s email. "I just sent you the list of people who know about that gold. Not many, however, are not common people. Some are politicians who are still active in Vale city."
Rose reads Oliver’s email, and she can see five names on that list. What Oliver said was true. These people are not average and ordinary folks. They are all influential figures. One of which is the owner of the Global Group. It’s not easy to silence them.
Still deep in thought, trying to find a way to prevent the Wilson Group from becoming a victim of these mobsters, Evan’s face suddenly appeared in Rose’s mind.
It seemed she had to be honest with her fiance about this. She can’t hide it anymore. What’s more, learning from Oliver that many people had died because of that land makes her scared that something terrible may happen to her or the people she is close with.
Rose started to feel doubts when she saw that her plan was not going as smoothly as she wanted. Was God mad at her for using her knowledge from her previous life to seize other people’s belongings?
Thinking about this possibility made her whole body freeze as if someone had pushed her into a puddle of ice. Fear swallowed her because her presence in this present also changed the future.
Still afraid of the problems they will face, Rose suddenly hears Oliver’s words, "Don’t worry too much, Rose! I’ve already asked someone for help. I’m sure this guy can help us. Well, at least they will protect us...." Rose loosened her grip on Oliver’s cell phone, and she immediately turned back his phone.
