Chapter 216: Meet Nick (2)

Soon, Rose moved to the living room inside the VVIP wardroom. After she sat down on the sofa, her heart was unable to calm and her mind was busy with many thoughts.

Countless questions danced in her mind. She is unable to keep her calm. She was freaking nervous. Many questions in her mind appear with ’Whatif’ before the words;

What if Nick now has a family?

What if Nick doesn’t recognize her as his daughter?

What if Nick had a dark life?

What if Nick never wanted her mother. He just played with her!?

Thinking about all of that makes her body feel a shiver. She shook her head, trying to push the ’Whatif’ question away from her mind. The more she thought about it, the more she spun her head.

But instead of getting better, she got tenser when she faintly heard Evan talking to someone outside. Instantly her heart raced as she thought Nick had finally come. He is now talking to Evan outside the room.

Trying to calm her raging heart and mind, she turned her gaze out of the window at the dazzling car lights on the street below. Her hands on her thighs intertwined as if to describe how restless she was at the moment.

Rose was so nervous that she didn’t notice that someone else in the room was now looking intently at her.

Nicholas closed the door behind him quietly. He stopped when he saw a girl with long hair, the same color as his hair, sitting on the sofa. Nicholas can’t see Rose’s face because the girl sits with her back facing him. Trying to adjust his emotions, he sighed deeply before walking toward her.

"Excuse me, Rose...." Those are the only words he can manage to say right now. And when he saw the girl turn her head to look at him. He was stunned as he saw the young Molly on her face. She has an oval-shaped face. Her skin is so bright, similar to Molly. But what makes him even more stunned is her eyes. Her eyes are similar to him. She has light brown with a little bit of pale green. His heart raced, looking at how beautiful his daughter was.

Nicholas saw her standing from her seat and looking at him without saying anything. He smiles, knowing his daughter must be nervous.

He took a few steps toward her and stopped when they were only two steps away. The closer he got to his daughter, he came to understand why some people who saw her for the first time immediately thought of Molly.

They stood facing each other for a moment. Neither spoke as if they were lost in their own thoughts.

After some time, Nicholas tries to start a conversation, or they will do a staring contest until the night ends.

"Do you mind if we sit while talking?"

Rose quickly nodded when she heard his charming voice. At this moment, she couldn’t string a word because she was still mesmerized by how handsome her father was. No wonder her mother fell for this man the first time she saw him. He is above average height, and his posture is very well maintained; sporty and masculine, like a person who serves in an army.

She can see the similarities between him. His eyes are similar to her and his hair color too.

Judging from his short hair and posture, Rose could guess that maybe he was a soldier. That’s why her mother met him in North City, where the Astington state military training center was located.

But is he really a soldier!? Rose was doubtful because this man had pale skin, like someone who had never had contact with the sun. His face also looks calm, not bold like an active soldier she usually saw. He seems more like a scholar, a doctor, or a scientist.

He is a scientist!? This is the best she could guess right now.

"Maybe you’ve heard from Evan about me." Nicholas paused, waiting for her to respond. When he saw her slightly nodding, he smiled at her and continued, "My name is Nicholas Spencer. I’m 46 years old now. And I’m working in the military...."

Rose didn’t hear his other words at all. Because right now, she was so shocked to listen to his full name, Nicholas Spencer. Is Nicholas Spencer the second son of the Spencer family? This scares her.

She remembers that Evan told her that Sister Amanda Spencer has two brothers. First is Brother Sean’s father, who will later become president of this country, Jayson Spencer. Rose can see how sad her father is now, his eyes slightly red, looking at her. She really understood that his father was completely innocent in this matter. So is her mother. What’s wrong is God who made these two people separate for so long and brought them together like now.

Rose even had time to think; maybe her re-birth because God felt guilty about her and wanted to unite her family again by sending her back to the present.

Rose’s worries turned out to be wrong. Her father was a faithful man. He understands that what he did in the past was a mistake. But he didn’t run away from it either. Nicholas was stunned when he saw the worry on his daughter’s face. His daughter seemed to avoid eye contact with him. She lowered her head, looking at her hands on her tight.

"But, what?" Nicholas asked calmly.

Rose was dumbfounded.

This man. No! Her father is indeed a fool. How could he only like a woman he only met one time?

"Rose, if you don’t mind, you can start calling me father...." Nicholas smiles at his little daughter. He can’t force Rose to accept him sooner, but for now, he wants to hear his daughter call him that.

Rose paused for a moment. She didn’t expect she would call him ’father’ this fast. Without realizing it, she nods in agreement with him. But her tongue felt stiff to speak his name or call him father, for now.

"I’m sorry to ask you this. I just want to know, are you related to Mr. Jayson Spencer?" Rose already suspected that her father was the second son of the Spencer family, the powerful family in this country. They are known for their strength in politics, military, and business.

"Jayson is my older brother, your uncle. I’m the second son. You also have aunty. Her name is Amanda." Nicholas smiles, looking at her shocked expression. She looks adorable, with her eyes blinking several times, looking at him.

"A-Ah... No wonder..." Rose suddenly remembered Sean Spencer’s reaction when he saw her in Vale city.

"Have you ever met another Spencer before?"

"Are you a military doctor?" Rose asks, still confused about her father’s occupation.

"No wonder your skin is so pale..." Rose murmurs. Since meeting him, she has doubted that her father worked as an active-duty soldier because his skin was so pale.

"Yeah! Though I’m in the military, I rarely get direct sun...." Nicholas laughs slightly.

Rose was finally able to smile even though her smile looked awkward at the moment. She wasn’t used to talking casually with him. "Father, about my mom? How is she?"

"The surgery was successful. So far, there have been no problems with Molly’s vital signs. However, her condition is still being monitored in the Recovery room. There will be medical staff who will monitor her condition until she wakes up...."

Rose paused as she tried holding her sadness.

Chapter 219: Murder

Rose bitterly smiled when she saw her father’s shocked expression. She continued, "My Mom, have a pretty tough life. She got pregnant without remembering you. Rose chuckled, seeing Evan being scolded by her father. And, she felt amused looking at his expression; He just nodded slowly with a respectful look at her father. She had never witnessed Evan this respectful of anyone. Not even his own father.

She immediately wrapped her hand around Evan’s arm to make him feel better as they walked to follow her father to the Recovery Room. Then she remembered the question that had appeared in her mind a moment ago.

"Hubby, do you know what exactly happened with my mother’s accident?" She glanced at him. But she was surprised at how dark his face was now like he was fuming. Instantly she realized that her mother’s accident was not a simple accident.

Evan lowered his head slightly, whispering to her, "Wife, I will tell you later. Now, we better follow your father to see mother...."

At first, Evan planned to tell his wife about her mother’s accident, but he was worried that she would be stressed if she heard what really happened. Because this incident was so vile, an attempted murder that would surely make his wife furious. He also could imagine his wife would blame herself if he knew the cause of her mother’s accident. That’s why he was delayed as much time as he could. He plans to postpone until his mother-in-law wakes up, so his wife doesn’t get too emotional. But it seemed he couldn’t delay it.

When she arrived at the Recovery Room, her knee suddenly felt weak. She felt her soul pull out from her body when she saw her mother lying motionless inside the room with various medical devices attached to her body.

Rose said with a serious tone when they returned to her VIP wardroom. She didn’t say an empty word because she had Oliver, who could hack CCTV at the crime scene. However, at this time, she couldn’t tell Oliver about her mother’s condition. She hopes Evan will just tell her everything now. So that he wouldn’t have to call Oliver.

Evan understands what Rose means. He knows her wife has a talented Hacker in her office. Were her crime against me and my mother in the past not enough? In this life, I will never forgive her..." Rose quietly said as if she was talking to herself. But what she said was clearly heard by Evan.

Evan was utterly surprised to hear how his wife cursed and vowed revenge on Dustin’s mother. He already knew Dustin’s mother had visited Rose at her house. But hearing what she said just now and how angry she was as if Dustin’s mother had made her suffer for a long time makes him curious about what exactly happened. Was there something he didn’t know about Rose’s past?

"Wife, don’t worry! That damn woman has been arrested by the authorities in East City. She is currently being investigated. I’ll make sure she’s got a heavy punishment so she doesn’t have to leave the prison for the rest of her life...." He will ensure that damn woman receives what she deserves, rotting in prison like her son.

While Evan and Rose are waiting for their dinner.

Jamie Stone stood motionless outside the Recovery Room with his eyes fixed on Molly.

Jamie felt terrible now because he let that slut harm, Molly. That slut, did it a few times and he didn’t do anything just because Molly asked for it. This accident might not have happened if he had told Rose or Evan everything.

However, Molly convinces him that the woman will be arrested soon because they have already made a report to the police. Apparently, that woman flew from the police, hid somewhere, and waited to attack Molly.

"Molly... I’m sorry!" Jamie murmurs as he holds his sadness.

"Mr. Jamie Stone?"

Jamie is surprised when he hears someone calling him from behind. He turned back to only meet a man staring at him. He had never met this man before. But why does this man know his name?

"Yes, I’m." Jamie Stone asked this man as he raised his brow slightly to try to remember whether he had ever met him or not. But he didn’t have memories of this handsome man before him. "May I know who you are?"

Somehow Jamie felt this man’s aura way too strong when he saw his straight face.

"I’m Nicholas Spencer, Molly’s husband, and Rose’s birth father..." Nicholas held out his hand to Jamie Stone. He needs to claim his status as Molly’s husband to this man who wooed his wife.
