Chapter 226: Four Days Of Agony

The fourth day passed. Molly’s condition was still the same as before.

There were no positive signs that could make Rose feel happy. Following the medical report, all her mother’s vital signs were typical; her heart rate and brain movement were steady.

Her father and Uncle Marcel always told her; There’s nothing to worry about. Her mother will wake up soon. But, still, she can’t avoid the worries that engulf from deep in her heart and mind every time she sees her mother lying motionless on the hospital bed.

Sitting on the side of the bed while staring at the life support stuck in her mother’s body like now could make her heartache.

It had been two days since her mother moved to the VVIP wardroom and two days since she returned to the hospital with Evan. They still closed the entire floor and used another VVIP room for Evan’s temporary office and her father’s room if he returned later from North City.

Rose heard the last news that her father would be back in the capital tonight. She couldn’t wait to meet him and hoped her father’s presence near her mother’s side might wake her mother from a coma. Rose really, really hopes it will come true! That’s why she urged her father to come back soon.

"Pretty sister Molly, if you hear me, please move your finger!?" Rose stared at her finger but waited for a few seconds without a sign. She deeply sighed as she continued talking randomly to her mother, as she usually did.

"My pretty Mommy, did you know? Your first crush has now found you. But, it’s too bad now you sleep too long." She smiles as she gently massages her hand. "Well, if you don’t wake up now, I’m afraid your dearest Nick will look for another woman! Ah, forget to tell you, your Nick is really handsome, he ages as a fine wine. Though he is older now, his face is still young, and he looks like a man in middle-thirty. And mommy, I hear many pretty women out there eyeing your Nick. So, if you still want him, better wake up now!"

After randomly talking about her father, she felt sad again. The feeling of longing came back to swallow her heart again.

"Mom, if you hear me, please wake up soon. I miss you so badly. Mom, I will make a promise to you; If you wake up, I will obey you. Whatever you ask for... I will fulfill." She paused to remember when her mother wanted her to have a child. That time she refused and ignored her. "Mom, if you wanted a grandchild... I... I will give you. But, you should wake up soon, huh!?"

"Sister Molly, your house in Little Heaven is already finished. You can move there. The house is so beautiful. You will like it...."

"Mom, today I will go to the shooting range. I want to learn how to shoot to protect myself and you." Rose felt her heart tighten talking like this, remembering how her mother got stabbed by that damn woman. She deeply exhales before she continues, "I hope you will wake up when I come back from my shooting practice, mom...."

When Rose exited the patient room toward the living room area, she saw Sam sitting on the couch with his laptop on his lap. He looks serious, typing something.

"Sam, what time are the others coming?" Rose asked as she sat opposite him.

"On ten. Well, in a few minutes... I guess." Sam closed his laptop. "Lady Boss, are we going to the shooting range after lunch?"

Rose nodded. She needs other activities to release her stress as she believes her stress level has now reached its peak. She might as well become a hospital patient if she doesn’t channel her anxiety and anger.

Her anger erupts every time she imagines that damn slut, Mosses.

Last night her husband asked her to go to a shooting range. He said, think of your shooting practice board as Mosses’ face and shoot her as much as you want. She likes the idea; Maybe by doing that, she could quell her anger for not being able to meet that evil woman.

"Is the shooting range close to this hospital?"

"Yes. Only a 10-minute drive..."

"That’s great!" She can’t go far from the hospital and a 10 minutes distance is still ok for her.

"Lady Boss, is there a special menu you would like for your lunch?"

Since her mother’s accident, she has lost her appetite. Like now, she didn’t feel hungry at all. If Sam asks what she wants to eat? She tried to answer him; she didn’t want to eat.

But she couldn’t do that, right? Because she will make her husband even more worried about her condition. Her husband always patiently reminded her to eat and ensured she got enough rest. But today her husband has urgent work, he must go to Nova city for one night.

"Buy a simple one. I’m not really hungry now. And Sam, how about my mother’s house? Is it done?"

"It’s finished. Now the workers are cleaning the house. So, when Ms. Wilson moved, the house was already clean and safe. I also hired a housekeeper and several maids who will look after the house."

Rose nodded, satisfied with what Sam had done. But later, she remembered about her house in East city. There was only Aunt Nora who stayed there. Aunt Nora reported several men guarding her home. She forgot to ask Evan about this, but she was sure it must be his people who protected her house.

Rose nodded. She agreed with Evan’s idea because she was worried that slut would ask someone else to hurt Aunty Nora and Uncle Jamie. She didn’t want anything like this to happen again.

Chapter 227: No Office Romance

Not long after, Oliver and the others arrived with worried looks. Especially Oliver.

"Guys! Come in. Have a seat..." Rose called them in.

Her days have been filled with anxiety and fear for the past few days. It was rare for a smile to appear on her face. She misses being around them because only those can make her smile and laugh with their dry humor. She needs them.

When they settle in their seats, Rose’s eyes stop on Oliver. For a slight moment, they stared at each other. She could guess what her best friend was thinking now.

Oliver felt sorry when he saw Rose’s pale face and dull-looking eyes. He knows how close Rose is to her mother. Since childhood, this girl only lived with her mother. She has no father, siblings, or no grandparents. So, if something happened to her mother, he was sure this girl would be experiencing a heavy blow in her life. She will suffer.

Looking at her dull eyes and her forceful smile hurt his heart. He couldn’t help but say, "Friend! I feel sorry for aunty. But, you should believe aunty will wake up soon...." Oliver’s voice sounded cheerless; it was clear from his eyes that he was unfortunate for her.

Rose was speechless.

"Damn, Oliver! Can you stop looking at me like that? I may end up crying now! And you will meet my husband if you make me cry..." Rose glared at him. She already tells Sam to remind them; that they can come to visit her, but they shouldn’t make her sad anymore. And this fool Oliver is trying his best to make her cry!? Gee, he is almost a success.

Oliver swallows hard as she hears Rose warning, "Bwahaha... My pretty Boss looks like you need to wear contact lenses... How could you see the sadness in my eyes? I’m cheerful now, alright!" His fake laugh echoed thru the room. The others glare at him as if they wanted to gag his mouth with flip-flops. He was so noisy in this supposedly quiet hospital.

"Damn it, Oliver! Do you make a noise in the patient wardroom? Are you courting death?" Danny’s sharp tongue could make Oliver tightly shut his mouth with a guilty expression on his face.

"Yeah, Oliver, this is a hospital. We can’t make a noise, alright!" Randy shook his head as he saw Oliver with an annoyed look.

"Oliver, I told you not to mention that thing before, but still, you mention it!" Sam looked annoyed at Oliver.

James could only send his mocking smile to Oliver because the others had already taken all the words he wanted to say. He was too late again against all of them. Damn, he lost opportunity.

Rose cleared her throat before saying something to break the awkward silence in the room. She asks them about the office because, at this moment, she doesn’t want to talk about her mother. Every time hears or speaks about it, Rose always ends up crying. So she avoided the topic as much as possible. And it seems that her friends quite understand it. They tried to humor her by talking about funny things at the office.

"Boss, I successfully recruited many new faces for a few days. And employees who have been interviewed first are starting to work...." As the HRD of Wilson Group, Danny proudly reported, but someone in the corner felt displeased looking at Danny.

"Really!? You did a great job, Danny. In a short time, you found talented people who will help us grow this company..." Rose couldn’t help but praise Danny. She raises her two thumbs to compliment him.

"Boss, don’t rush to praise him. He recruited mostly female staff. Gosh! Now our office is filled with lots of young women. "Why do you bother with that?" Oliver asked. "Wouldn’t some female staff make the office atmosphere more colorful? The female staff is more lively than men, alright!"

Rand’s mouth twists after hearing Oliver. Of course, these two perverted young men do not bother, but for him, he can’t stand looking at sexy girls entering his office.

"Yeah! I think it’s ok. If they dress modestly and can do their job properly...." Randy said seriously as his eyes darted to Danny opposite him.

Sam shook his head sympathetically with Randy. He also doesn’t like many sexy women in the office. What’s more, there’s a rule in Evan’s office that the female staff is not allowed to wear revealing outfits. "Danny! I’m alright if you choose female rather than man staff. But, the important thing to recruit is their brain, the ability to do the necessary tasks. Chapter 228: The Ultimate Goal

Danny looked to Oliver for help, but he was surprised to see that man betray him in the blink of an eye. Before, he had consulted him; of course, this man agreed.

He thought they were allies, but he was wrong. Danny could only shake his head as he looked at Jamie. But Jamie ignores him too. The same with Sam.

What’s wrong with them? Didn’t they have this conversation at the pub a few days ago? And they’re all supporting him!? He cursed them all in his heart.

"Danny, what Rose said is true. As long as they are all capable, that’s fine...." Oliver said as agreed with Rose.

But, for office romance... Why did she forbid it? Did she not pity a single dog like them? Oliver wanted to ask her, but seeing the serious look on her face he didn’t have a choice but to shut his mouth tightly.

Randy nodded in agreement with Rose and Oliver. He was satisfied they were both on his side.

While Danny’s face turns grim. Still, he can’t say anything now just to accept what Rose and the others say. He keeps in his mind that all of this sudden change is because of this lonely Randy. This man must be taught about wild romance so that his life is full of color.

He listens to their chat as his mind starts to make a plan to make Randy fall in love with someone. But a few seconds later, he remembers Rose’s honeymoon trip. A playful smile appears in the corner of Danny’s lips when an idea to tease her seems in his mind. He can’t believe he has a chance to get revenge on his Boss this fast.

"Boss..." Danny clears his throat to ask for attention from everyone.

When all of them looked at him with curiosity, he said to Rose, "Your face looks glowing, Boss... It looks like married life makes you more beautiful and blooming. Tell us, how does it feel to be a wife? Is it fun? Is Evan good..." Danny deliberately hung his sentence with a mischievous smile framing his face.

Rose was speechless hearing Danny’s words. She can feel her face turn warm when her steamy night with Evan starts to appear like video clips in her mind.

"Hahaha, Danny, Danny, Danny....how could you ask her like that?" Oliver said in disbelief. But he also wanted to hear Rose reply. Not just Oliver, but everyone else, including Sam, is all curious. Now, all eyes look at Rose, who lowers her head and looks at her fingers.

After a long awkward moment, Rose slowly lifted her head.

She smiled, looking at all this single dog before her, "Well, guys, it’s hard to describe. I suggest to all of you to find your other half, your soulmate. You will regret it if you die before you are married to someone you love...." Rose, with a disdain-looking face, stared at them. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and lifted her chin slightly.

A mocking smile arose from her lips to make this dumb Danny instantly turn muted.

Rose was aware Danny was trying to tease her on purpose. Definitely, she will not make a stage for this fool Danny to succeed.

As the only person who is already married in this group, she tells them the truth. Marrying Evan was something that made her feel blissful because he treated her like a princess. Although they have only been married for a few days, she hopes his attitude will remain the same until their hair turns gray.

Before lunch, they all say goodbye.

But Rose asked Oliver to stay for a while. There was something she wanted to talk to him about, a private matter.

After seeing everyone out of the room, including Sam. Rose looks at Oliver opposite her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Oliver felt weird when he saw her eyes. Her gaze was so sharp like she wanted to dig into his mind. He felt tense. Something may be bothering her now.

"About Rapid Realty, how is the progress?" Rose wanted to ask him since she came back. But her mind was clearly preoccupied with her mother’s accident. It had crossed her mind that her mother’s accident had something to do with the bad guys behind Rapid Realty.

"That ’helper’..." Oliver purposely didn’t mention ’Silver Phoenix,’ outright avoiding the organization from backfiring on them. "Very reliable! Looks like our helper has started pressing them. Even though Evan had told her that the perpetrator was Dustin’s mother. She took revenge because her son died in custody. And she thought Rose was the one who put her son in prison.

"Boss, I have followed your instructions to look for a new scientist who will research the land. In a few days, I will meet them...." Oliver continues to report about the gold mining.

"You are looking for researchers from outside, right?"

"Yes! But our ’helper’ suggested that we should also use local scientists. They gave me a few names. So later, two companies will conduct research. Ugh! I can’t wait for the whole world to know about this land. Our company will become famous if this is exposed...."

"No Worries, Boss! Of course, I didn’t forget your ideas! I already keep it here..." Oliver pointed at his brain as he smiled. "For our games division, I recruited some of my college friends with bright brains like me... to join us. Some have started working in the Gamers division. And, we will create a few games according to your idea." He paused, looking at his Boss with a frown, "Boss, I still can’t believe your brilliant ideas. How can you come up with such a forward-thinking idea?"

Sometimes Oliver suspected that his best friend could see the future. How could she give him an idea that people nowadays don’t think of? Even as a technology expert, he had not gotten there yet.

"Boss, did you just come back from the future?"

Instantly Rose’s body turns frosty. How could Oliver guess, right?

She felt goosebumps.

"Would you believe me if I said yes?"

"Bwahaha... you think I’m a kid? Don’t talk rubbish, my dear friend...."

Rose silently chuckled. She could have guessed it. No one would believe her if she said she was reborn. These kinds of things only exist in dramas.

She immediately changed the conversation before this man became suspicious of her again.

"Oliv, because our company is growing. I want you to buy land or buildings in this city. Also in Vale city...." Rose’s words made Oliver stunned to see her.

She wanted to own a building for the Wilson Group. Because she couldn’t stay in Evan’s company building forever, right?

What’s more, her company slowly expanded. They need a bigger office to accommodate their staff for subsidiary companies.

"Yeah! I thought so too. But, do we have more money to buy land?" Oliver raises his brow.

"Money is not a problem. You can find the location first. And, I suggest you look for vacant land or old buildings. We will build our building from zero. I want to build a magnificent building in a prestigious place for our main office. And for our Vale City office, the location doesn’t matter. You can use Rapid Realty’s old office. Just renovated it as soon as possible...."

"Wow, Boss! Are you sure you have the money?" Oliver felt worried his Boss would run out of money. He knew how much money the company had. And to buy land and build a building in a prestigious place in the capital will empty their company’s money.

"I told you! Money is not a problem. You don’t have to worry about that. Just tell me the number, and I will give it to you. And I will use my other funds, which will not disturb the company’s capital..." Rose said confidently.

Still vivid in her mind, there will be a massive uproar in the Astington’s Stock Exchange in the next few days. The stock market will be bullish* for a few days in a row. He found it strange to see how angry she was now like a dark fire appeared behind her back. He had never seen this side of her.

Trying to adjust to the lingering anger in her heart, Rose finally tells Oliver about her mother’s accident.

Oliver was shocked beyond words to learn that Aunt Molly had been in a terrible accident. He felt the same way as Rose at this moment. He was utterly mad.

He really wanted to go to East City to take revenge for Aunty Molly.

"Crist! How could that mother bastard do that? Is she a human?" Oliver’s eyes were radiant with anger as he stared at Rose.

"I know, right? My mother had nothing to do with Dustin. But that bitch took her revenge on my mother...."

Rose’s hands clenched into fists holding back her anger. She stared at Oliver with a sharp gaze.

"Oliv, please investigate this matter. I wonder how horrible that damn woman hurt my mother. I will return what she did to my mother. I will torture her!"

Oliver was surprised to see Rose’s eyes flash with anger. She looks like a female devil who just came from hell. He felt shiver with her aura.

"Rose, I will help you to find a way to torture her...." He couldn’t stay still. He had to do something to prevent this from happening again.

That afternoon after finishing lunch Rose is getting ready to head to the Shooting Range. At first, she worries about leaving her mother for an hour, but her mother-in-law promises to look after her mother.

"Sam, shall we go now?" She approached Sam waiting for her in the living room. She frowns looking at a weird smile gracing his face. "Why are you smiling at me like that, Sam? Did I use the wrong costume?" Rose asked while looking at her white round-neck t-shirt and knee-length jeans skirt.

"Your shoes are correct, a sneaker. But, you should change your thirst and skirts. Mmm... I suggest you wear a shirt and trousers. And, if you have a hat, it would be better to bring it...."

"Why?" She didn’t know that shooting practice needed a particular outfit.

"The more skin you cover at the shooting range, the less likely you will go home with a burn. So that’s why I suggest you wear a shirt or blouse with a collar and a trouser; comfortable, loose-fitting pants to make it easier to move while shooting or practicing your stance...."

Rose nods as she understands what Sam means. "Ah! Alright. Wait here, I will change now."

"Boss, I will wait in the car. Give me a call if you arrive at the lobby...."

After seeing Sam go out, she went back into the bedroom and changed her clothes according to Sam’s suggestion. She was stunned when she opened the wardrobe, looking at what she needed hanging in there.

Likely, Evan already knows what she needs. She chose to wear a pale blue shirt with black cargo pants. Rose also saw a baseball cap. After changing her outfit, she immediately left the room.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"Father!? Aren’t you coming back tonight?" Rose was surprised to see her father standing in front of her room.

"I finished my work faster..." After arriving in North City, Nicholas spent most of his time working. He rarely came out of his lab except to eat and sleep.

Nicholas could not delay his return to the capital because he really missed Molly and his daughter. So, after his research was finished this morning, he flew straight to the capital to meet them.

"Dad, what a coincidence that you came early... I can calmly leave for an hour."

"Where are you going?" Nicholas glanced at his daughter, who looked weird using cargo pants. She also wears a cap. Does she want to go fishing or go hiking?

"I have plans to go to the shooting range with Sam..." She said as she followed her father to enter her mother’s treatment room.

"Do you know how to shoot?" He stops his step and looks at her.

Rose shook her head quickly.

"Well, this is my first time. I want to learn how to shoot to protect myself. Because..." She paused, thinking about whether to tell him about her incident in the last few months at Vale city.

"Because what?"

"A few months ago, I was almost taken as a hostage. And that time, I was thinking of learning how to shoot to protect myself...."

Nicholas was shocked to hear his only daughter was almost taken as a hostage.

"D-Dad..." Rose knew she was talking too much to her father to worry him. "I have to go now. Talk to you later. Please take care of mom. I will come back before dinner. Bye!" She darts to the door avoiding her father’s confused-looking eyes. She was afraid his father would ask her about that incident again. She would probably cancel her trip to the shooting range just to tell him about it.

Nicholas chuckled, looking at his daughter. Though he wanted to ask where she practiced. But, the girl had disappeared behind the door. Why did she seem to avoid talking about that incident?

At the North Mountain’s foot is a sports club named Thunder. It was past noon when Rose arrived at the place she had never heard of and seen before.

She was stunned, looking at the scenery before her eyes. She can see a vast green golf course stretching with beautiful-looking hills and a field for equestrian practice and other sports like basketball and soccer. The place is enormous, but she rarely sees people around that place. On the smooth street, she only saw a few cars passing through the area.

"What is this place, Sam?" Rose glanced briefly at Sam, who was driving the car. She thought they would go to the shooting practice, but why did they end up in this lovely place instead?

"These private sports clubs. Only members can enter this area. Many sports can be done in this place. Including shooting..."

"No wonder I don’t see many people in this area..."

Rose said while enjoying the lush old trees they passed. After a few minutes, she can see a huge dark green building surrounded by dense trees. This dome-shaped building is painted dark green. At first glance, people will not know there is a building in this place. It is well camouflaged.

She saw a few car parks in a large parking lot in front of the building. When she gets down, she can feel how fresh the air is in that place. It felt as if they were far out of town, like on Misty Mountain. But, this place is only a few minutes from the hospital. They are still in the middle of the city.

"Lady Boss, for our practice today, I will only introduce you to a few types of weapons. Also, explain in detail the function of the weapon. We will not try to shoot for today." They can’t shoot today because Lady Boss said she only has an hour to spend in this place. She didn’t want to leave her mother for too long at the hospital.

Rose was speechless.
