Ch. 421..425: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 421-425
Chapter 421: Shocking Gossip
After they finished lunch, all the men gathered in Nicholas Spencer’s study room, including Evan.
While Rose was asked to rest on the second floor by her mother. She uses this opportunity to tell Keira to accompany her as she needs to find out the progress of Keira’s love life with Oliver.
The two of them were talking in the living room on the second floor. They settle on a couch in the corner with a glass wall surrounding the room. The scenery outside looked stunning — as far as the eye can see, trees covered in snow — made them enjoy the beauty of nature for a while. They were both lost in their own thoughts.
Before long...
Rose was the first to break the silence. She looked at Keira, who was sitting beside her. She could see how gloomy Keira was now, her eyes less cheerful than usual. As if there is a burden that is still propping up her mind and heart.
"Kei, how’s your relationship with Oliver?" Rose is curious. This girl never brought up this issue again after their last chat in the hospital a few days ago.
Keira was surprised to hear Rose’s question. She turned to look at her. "Sis, I haven’t met him yet..."
Rose could see the sadness in Keira’s eyes. "You didn’t call him yet?"
"Yes! I feel afraid to call him...."
"Silly girl!! How can you solve your problem if you don’t try to contact him? Do you really like Oliver?"
"Sis, of course, I like him...." She blushed, but in one breath, her face turned somber again.
Keira wanted to meet Oliver, but Oliver seemed to be avoiding her. Making Keira feel worried about talking about their problems through text messages. She wanted to meet him and talk in person.
"So what are you waiting for? Call him!" Rose couldn’t help but roll her eyes, feeling like hitting Keira on the head so she could act faster.
"Well, we’re still in touch, but we only exchange text messages. And we never chat about it. We only talk about work and other people. It seems like Oliver avoids talking about our personal matters. I’m also scared to start talking about it, afraid he will grant my wish." Keira’s head dropped. She took a deep breath to feel free from her tight chest.
Rose was utterly speechless with this lovebird. Their problem is that they are just too in love. That is it. However, they were too scared, and no one dared to talk about the matter. In the end, the two of them tortured each other.
It seems she had to do something to help them.
"Sis, I’m going down first. Brother Evan will scold me if I disturb your nap...."
After seeing Keira go down, Rose enters her bedroom to find her cell phone. She needed to call that idiot Oliver.
"Where are you?" She didn’t bother to greet him. She felt angry with him. How could he avoid Keira, the girl he falls for!?
"Boss! I’m in the office...."
"Gosh! You are so hard-working. It seems I should raise your year-end bonus." Rose couldn’t help but laugh.
"Hahaha, you should!"
"Why are you still in the office?" Rose thinks Oliver will spend New Year’s Eve with his grandmother in Nova City.
"It’s because of you!" Oliver chuckled. "This company is growing so fast. Can you slow down a bit!?"
"Huh, don’t blame me. This is because you are too genius in business, and that’s why this company is growing fast. Have you forgotten I’m just an investor..."
"Damn it! You dodged my words as fast as you dodged a bullet!" Oscar laughed. "Why did you call me?" he asked, putting down the document he was reading. Then, he lay down on his CEO chair and turned the chair around to look at the bright blue sky outside.
Oliver suddenly felt something stab his heart looking at how bright the sky was now — it would be lovely if he could spend a day with Keira in this clear weather.
The clear sky can’t describe his heart now because he felt too gloomy inside. He missed Keira but was too scared to ask her out. He’s afraid she will talk about her wish to break up again. He wasn’t ready to hear her request. He better avoid her for the time being until she calmed down and forgot about it.
"Oliv, I will send my address. You can join us for dinner and spend New Year’s Eve."
Rose thought this was the best she could do for this idiot Keira and Oliver. If he had come here, he would have had time to talk to Keira.
"What! Rose, are you kidding me? How can I come to your family dinner?" Oliver was worried. Afraid, Rose’s jealous husband would be displeased if he suddenly appeared at their residence.
"Oliver, after you save my life, my parents and Evan already treat you as my brother. So you don’t need to worry. Ah, what about Danny and James? Are they back in East City?"
"No, they’re too lazy to drive there. Only Randy will go back to his parent’s house tonight. The three of us already have plans to go to the Empire Club to spend New Year’s Eve there..."
"You can ask them to come too..." Rose felt happy if they could all come to celebrate New year with her. She wanted to express her gratitude to them, who helped her a lot in running her company.
"Okay, I’ll ask them. I’ll call you later if we decide to join you...."
After Oliver ended the call, Rose was about to sleep, but her cell phone vibrated. She saw a new message arrive from an unknown number. Without thinking she opened the text message and was shocked.
Suddenly his hands trembled. Unknowingly, her cell phone slipped from her hand. She was too shocked to see the celebrity gossip news screencap in the message.
[ Top movie star Carla Miller spends holidays in New York City with boyfriend... ]
There’s a picture on the news; Carla Miller with a man.
Rose could recognize the man even though his face was not clearly visible. She was sure the man was her husband, Evan.
Chapter 422: Finally Solved
Rose’s hands trembled as she picked up her cell phone from the floor. The title of the article made her scared to reread it. She clutched her phone tightly as her mind reeled back to the day she met Carla Miller.
[ Sorry, I can’t... I have to fly to New York this afternoon. Yes, Yes... hahaha, I know it, right!! Well... I’ll spend Christmas Eve there with him. He invited me to accompany him to a gala dinner with his business partner. So, I have to fly there... ]
The telephone conversation she had heard from Carla Miller filled her mind. The unfinished puzzle that had been bothering her mind was finally solved; The man Carla Miller met in the US was Evan, her husband.
"So this is the reason Evan suddenly delayed his return?" Rose muttered under her breath. Unable to hold herself up, she slumped onto the bed. "This is not true... this is not true..."
Rose felt an extreme sense of suffocating as if a vast rock crushed her chest when a painful memory buried deep inside her resurfaced.
In her past life, her husband had an affair. Is this going to happen again in this life!?
Thinking about it can make her head spin. She slowly closes her eyes while taking deep breaths. She did that several times until she felt slightly better.
After some time...
Rose opened her cell phone again, wanting to make sure what she saw was not valid. Hoping the message isn’t there. However, after turning on her cell phone, the message was still there, and the image she saw remained the same.
In the image, she clearly shows Carla Miller talking to a man. Though the man’s face wasn’t clear, she was pretty sure it was Evan—the clothes he was wearing were the same ones he had been wearing when he arrived at the hospital.
She opened a browser on her cell phone, and once again, her heartfelt ache. The news about Carla Miller is on a celebrity news portal. And now, the news has become a trending topic on social media. A-Netz began to track down who the man in the picture was.
Rose read the comment section; some netizens started to guess the man’s identity is Evan Collins, the heir of the Collins Group.
Her heart choked when she read that many A-Netz concluded like that. How could she guess wrong? Even A-Netz could tell!?
She wasn’t wrong anymore. That man must be her husband.
There was a feeling of fear that now embraced her mind and tortured her heart. This fear was the same as the fearful feeling she vaguely remembered from her previous life—the betrayal of the man she loved.
Her heart was broken, and her body went limp as she lay on the bed. She hoped this was just her dream, not a real one.
"Evan! Did you really betray me!?" Rose faintly whispered. Her eyes felt warm, and before long, she could feel tears starting to flow down from the corners of her eyes.
****
In one of the luxury penthouses in New York City,
Willard Harper sat on the single white couch with his legs crossed leisurely. His hand played with his red wine glass as his eyes gazed gleefully at the woman opposite him.
"Did you like my new year’s gift?" His cheery voice could describe how happy he was now.
"Willard, thank you. You did an amazing job." Carla Miller raised her wine glass. After taking a sip, she looked at Willard again, "How did you know Evan would be at the airport? And, about the paparazzi? Did you arrange them too?"
Carla still can’t believe Willard helped her, creating the opportunity to meet Evan — something impossible for her to achieve alone.
Since finding out Evan Collins is the heir of the Collins Group, she has tried to contact him and asked to meet but was unsuccessful. The man who used to chase her in the past, now changed. He seemed to hate her after she rejected him.
She tried many times to create opportunities to meet him but also failed. Hence, she was surprised when Willard said he would allow her to meet Evan Collins, and this man was victorious.
Not only did he create opportunities for them to meet, but he also set the paparazzi to take their picture.
In Astington, pictures of her and Evan were all over the news portals. The gossip she was dating Evan was trending on all the gossip sites and social media.
This happiness clearly made her unable to hold back a smile whenever she thought about her encounter with Evan.
"Hahaha, you don’t need to know about that, Carla. You must carry out your plan, seduce and win his heart back." Willard sips his wine before he continues, "A few years ago, he was madly in love with you... So, if you give him a chance with a lot of effort, I’m sure you can get him back...." Willard knows man’s true nature. Evan Collins definitely still has feelings for his first crush.
Carla blushed as she recalled her past memories — when Evan had a crush on her. Too bad, at the time, she didn’t love him; instead, she fell for Evan’s cousin, Sean Spencer. After Sean’s rejection, she wanted to give Evan a chance, but the man had already moved on. He left. Since then, they never saw each other again. This was the biggest regret in her heart, not accepting Evan in the past.
"Willard, I’ll try my best as long as he’s not married. I’m sure I can win his heart again..." Carla smiles. She had many plans to win Evan over again. As long as Evan wasn’t married, she would try anything to woo him. However, if he is already married, it would be difficult. But she would never give up. She would use all means to win him back.
Willard Harper raised his glass to salute Carla for her determination — he needed to use Carla to ruin Evan and Rose’s relationship. Only that way, he knows he can get Rose back.
Chapter 423: My Woman
"I like your confidant, Carla!" A witty smile graced Willard Harper’s face at the thought of Evan Collins being left by Rose. He continued, "I will help you to create more chances against you and Evan. You need to work hard to win him back...."
He would do anything to get the woman he loves, Rose Wilson. Whatever happens, even if he has to sell his soul to the grim reaper.
Carla looked at Willard curiously. This guy seems happy to ruin Evan Collins’ relationship. Does he have a grudge against him?
"Why are you helping me?"
She wanted to know this from the start. But she never had a chance to ask him; this man always avoided her questions.
Willard didn’t immediately answer Carla’s question but he filled his empty wine glass first. After refilling it, he looked at Carla. "I’m not helping you. However, I’m doing this for myself." He rubbed his brows and looked at her, who had her eyes staring at him without blinking. He smiled. "I have unfinished business with Evan Collins. But sorry, I can’t tell you...."
"What’s the problem? Willard, I beg you not to try to hurt him! I won’t let you do that!!" Carla was surprised to see Oliver’s sinister gaze. She could guess that Willard and Evan’s matter wasn’t as simple as she thought.
"Willard, you have to remember, Evan is not just anyone. He is heir to the Collins Group." Carla continued her sentence after seeing Willard in a daze. "Don’t risk your career just because you want revenge on him...."
Carla started worrying about this strange-looking Willard — far different from the Willard she knew. The man in front of her was more like someone who used to appear as a villain in Hollywood movies, full of revenge and what’s on their minds only one, kill.
"Hahaha... chill, girl! I won’t hurt him. But, I have taken something from him." He smiled, thinking about what had happened a few days ago. He almost got that bastard Evan Collins’ life. Damn!! God highly favored that man. He hated it even more.
"What do you mean, Willard? My God!! Can you speak more clearly so I can understand?" Carla frowned, frightened by how sinister Willard looked now. "Willard, you, you look different. What happened to you?"
While she desperately wants to win Evan Collins’ heart again, she will not destroy her career. She will do it slowly. But, what she saw in Willard, this time, this man wanted to kill his own career — to go head to head with Evan Collins. That’s the same as suicide.
"Hahaha, Carla, what makes you think that? I haven’t changed. I’m the same as before," Willard laughed before taking another sip of his wine.
"I’m not sure either, but you are so different...." Carla could only smile. As long as this man didn’t hurt Evan, she didn’t care what he would do.
"That bastard Evan Collins stole my woman. I have to do something to take my woman back. That’s why I want you to seduce Evan, so I can get my woman back! So, it’s a win-win situation for us...."
If Carla fails, he will do something cruel to separate them, such as; kill Evan or kidnap Rose. He had many ideas in mind. But, for now, he would have an easy way to ruin their marriage — using this stupid Carla Miller.
"Ahh, so... the woman Evan is dating now is your woman?" Carla was surprised to know that.
"Yes. Your man, snatch my woman!" A flash of anger flashed through Willard’s eyes.
"Willard, who is she? Do I know her? Does she come from the entertainment industry like us?" Carla was curious and wanted to know that woman who could make Evan fall in love. This woman also made Willard Harper like this, willing to risk his career for her.
Willard chuckled, "No. She does not. You don’t need to know about her, and you’d better never try to investigate her, or I’ll be dealing with you too!"
Carla looked stunned at how serious Willard was now, "Don’t worry. I just need to win back Evan Collins. I don’t need anything else...."
"Good!!"
Willard was in a good mood now. He can’t wait to reunite again with the woman who has been chasing him since they were in high school. If only that bastard Evan Collins hadn’t appeared between them, maybe now that Rose Wilson was still his girlfriend or even had married him. He didn’t have to die horribly and live in this man’s body.
Now, all his plans are to win back Rose Wilson, the girl he loves and wants to spend his life with forever.
"It’s past midnight. I’ll go to my room first. See you tomorrow Willard...." Carla quickly left Willard Harper’s room. She wanted to read the gossip news that was trending in Astington.
During her career as a top movie star at Astington, this was the first time she had felt so happy to be in the gossip news. She hoped, with this news, Evan would contact her. She couldn’t wait to talk to him again.
Meanwhile, at Nicholas Spencer’s residence,
Gavin panicked when he saw the news circulating on the internet. He immediately caught up with his boss chatting in the study room. He was allowed to enter the room. After he entered, he immediately whispered to Evan; to report on the current situation.
Instantly Evan’s face turns dark upon hearing Gavin’s report.
"Grandfather, Father, Uncle... I have to go upstairs. We’ll talk later...." He stood up from his chair.
"What’s wrong, Evan? Is there a problem?" Ask Old Collins.
"Nothing. My wife needs me, so please excuse me. I need to go upstairs...."
Evan immediately left the room and came out with Gavin.
"Tell Oscar to do what he has to do. And make sure no similar articles appear anywhere else. Persuade all the media nicely. And if they still release the news, tell them the consequences..." After giving instructions to Gavin, he ran to the second floor while praying that his wife would not read the news.
Chapter 424: I Will Never Betray You
What Evan heard as he entered the room...
"Evan! Did you really betray me!?"
His heart sank when he heard that; his wife had seen the news.
"Not. I did not betray you."
Rose was utterly shocked when she heard Evan’s voice. She looked towards the door. When Evan’s figure came into view, her body could not help but tighten.
Since when was he there?
"I will never betray you..." Evan’s deep voice echoed through the room. He slowly walked over to the bed, sat on the edge, and wiped her tears. As their eyes locked, he continued, "Don’t cry. There’s nothing between that woman and me...."
"B-But..." Rose stopped talking when she saw Evan’s eyes shine with sincerity and affection for her. There was no anxiety, panic, or betrayal. From there, this man was telling the truth.
She felt confused. Were her suspicions exaggerated?
"I promised you before we got married. You’re the only woman in my heart. And until now and then, forever...." Evan took her hand. He was surprised when he felt her hand feel so cold. He squeezed it gently, trying to convey warmth to her. "Please, my dear, trust me, huh!? I will never betray you...."
Evan’s sincere words could make Rose’s heart feel a little better.
"I believe you... But I want to know one thing. Please answer me honestly...."
"What is it?"
"Evan, the reason you delay your comeback... because of her?" Rose knew the question sounded stupid. But she just wanted to put her mind at ease. After all, this question had been tormenting her mind for the past few days. She wanted to hear a straight answer from him.
"Of course not! I’ve never had any contact with that woman again...." Evan was shocked by what he had just said.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to be honest with his wife, but he doesn’t want her to get hurt hearing stories about his past. He just wanted to keep her feelings from getting hurt.
"Again!? So you know Carla Miller? So, is it true that you extended your visit there because of her!?" She felt like an invisible hand was squeezing her heart for some reason. It hurts.
Evan massaged his temples which suddenly felt pain. He was confused about whether to tell her or not!?
If he was honest with her, she might feel hurt. However, if he kept it a secret and his wife found out about it from someone else, it would likely trigger another problem like this, a tearful wife.
Seeing her cry broke his heart.
There were no stories left about Carla Miller that he needed to tell. The woman was just his past that he had long forgotten. He never thought about her again since the woman rejected him. He moved long before he met his wife.
And his encounter with Cara at the New York airport was just a coincidence. Even then, he did not recognize her.
Now he suspects that his meeting with Carla at the airport was designed. Someone purposely took their picture secretly and spread it on the internet.
Evan slowly held Rose’s hand again and looked into her eyes, "You want to hear the truth?"
"Yes."
"But, promise me you won’t get angry or feel hurt. Because what you’re about to hear might make you feel that way."
Rose is stunned. She was getting worried about hearing what Evan would say. Afraid she would be really hurt if she heard about it.
How deep is their relationship?
"I promise you, I will not be angry..." Although Rose was afraid, she also wanted to know the truth.
"Actually, that woman was my senior in high school and my first love. But, at that time, she rejected me. After she graduated, we never saw each other again until we met at the New York airport...." Evan paused to see her reaction.
When he saw her look calm, he continued, "When we met that time, I didn’t even talk to her. I just nodded when she greeted me. You can ask Gavin if you don’t believe me."
Happiness radiated from her eyes when she heard his words. Her worries gradually faded away, "Evan! I believe you."
Somehow she felt relieved after hearing Evan’s explanation. It turned out the woman was just his past.
That woman is only his crush. So what!?
She also has a man she has a crush on, Dustin. And the story of her chasing Dustin is even worse; she chased him for so long, from high school to college.
Evan even witnessed how she chased after Dustin. But, since she was dating Evan until they were married, Evan never once questioned it.
So, she didn’t need to be jealous of Carla Miller, right!? That woman was his past, and she had to trust Evan. As long as Evan said they weren’t in a relationship anymore, she would believe him.
Evan was surprised by Rose’s calm reaction. Not only did she look so quiet, but she also believed him without hesitation.
Even though Evan smiled at her, he was secretly worried that his wife was hiding her true feeling.
"Wife, are you not angry? Or jealous?" His deep eyes looked straight into Rose’s eyes with curiosity.
"Why should I? You also know I have a first crush, right? And have you ever complained to me about him?"
He chuckled. Now he understood why his wife didn’t mind that.
But she was wrong about one thing; while they were in college, not that he was never jealous of Dustin. He is very jealous. Dustin really didn’t give him a chance to win Rose’s heart. At that time, Rose’s eyes were only on Dustin.
He still remembers that night, when he invited Rose to dinner, he thought that was their last dinner before he was rejected. He already plans to move on if Rose has no feelings for him. But it turns out Rose gave him a chance that night.
Evan never even expected that night Rose would finally accept him to be her boyfriend.
So far, he had never talked about his jealousy. Because it’s not necessary anymore. The important thing is that Rose is already his. No one can take her away from him.
Chapter 425: Sudden Kiss
Evan pulled her into his arms. They sat side by side on the edge of the bed.
"Thank you, wife, for believing in me," he whispered.
"Hmm..." Rose smiled, then he pushed Evan’s body away to make some distance so she could see his face more clearly. "Hubby, although your face isn’t clear in the photo. But, many A-Netz has guessed it is you. What would you do?"
Rose was worried that the gossip would spread and drag Evan’s name down. What if her family finds out? They would definitely criticize her husband.
Evan didn’t answer her question right away. He rubbed her cheek gently. After some time, he said, "Wife, that’s why we need to announce our marriage. If people out there find out we’re married, no one will speculate about me anymore...."
She nodded in agreement with him. "I personally don’t mind. When will you announce it?"
"You know, a lot of women out there have their eyes on your husband!? So the sooner, the better." Evan couldn’t hide how pleased he was to know his wife had finally agreed to announce their marriage after the last few times she hadn’t given him a chance to do so.
Rose was amused by his pitiful expression as if he didn’t like being chased by pretty girls.
"Why are you feeling pressured? You should be happy because you have a lot of fans out there." Rose teased him.
Evan pinched her cheek, making Rose glare at him.
"I don’t need many women. I only need one. You alone is enough for me..."
"Geez, hubby! I’m not asking you to find another woman. I don’t support polygamy! But you should be proud to have a lot of female fans, right!?"
"No, thank you!" His firm voice makes her speechless. This man has no humor at all. Gosh!
Evan buried her face in his palms and kissed her cherry lips. The sudden kiss seemed to have vented Evan’s inner feelings.
Rose’s breathing quickened, but she had no intention of resisting.
After the kiss, her pretty face blushed as if she had just fallen in love for the first time. The kiss was sweet and made her unable to meet his burning eyes. She lowered her head.
Evan chuckled as he watched his shy little wife hide her rosy cheeks. He touched her chin and made her look at him. "Little wife, why are you avoiding your husband!? Do you want another kiss?"
Rose didn’t answer. She just distanced herself from him cause she worried her husband would turn on. She is pretty sure this man will find a way to make love with her. They couldn’t do it now. Her hand still hurt, worried that it would get worse.
But Evan didn’t give her a chance to stay away. He pulled her closer. With warm eyes, he cast a lingering gaze over her face before giving her a light kiss right on the lips. She pushed him again.
"H-Hubby, can you answer my question first? What are you going to do about the gossip?" Rose was still worried that the gossip would bring Evan down.
"Don’t worry, someone will take care of it. There’s no need to worry about it. Now, you better sleep, or else you will fall asleep on New Year’s Eve..." He helped her to lie on the bed.
Instantly Rose felt her eyes heavy. She closed her eyes as soon as her head touched the pillow. It didn’t take long for Rose to fall asleep.
Evan slowly got up from the bed. He covered her with a blanket before he exited the room. He needed to call Oscar to clean up the mess outside. He would find who tried to mess with him.
Later...
Evan stood by the glass window and checked his cell phone. Instantly his face darkened when he saw the news.
No wonder his wife immediately recognized him. In the picture, his face was unmistakable. If anyone who knew him would know, it was him.
"Why is the news still on the internet?" He scolded Oscar when the line connected as he was too angry. It’s been almost an hour. Why can’t Oscar take care of it!?
"Boss looks like a powerful hacker is behind this. I deleted all the news, but a few seconds later, many accounts using VPN* started uploading again. I’m working on it now to try to trace them... I have their location somewhere in Europe, but I can’t get the exact location yet. Give me more time, boss...."
Suddenly, Evan had a headache hearing Oscar’s report. He massaged his brow, trying to figure out his next step. After some time, he said, "For now, freeze all social media and websites that are still posting that news. Freeze until you find the hacker. Oscar, I can’t help you this time. I’m still at my in-laws’ house. So you better do it fast!"
"Boss, there is a quick way to get rid of this news." Oscar hesitated to tell Evan, but he had no choice at the moment because the hackers he was dealing with were quite strong. He needed concentration to catch him and didn’t have time to clean up the news circulating on the internet.
"What is it!?"
"Oliver, suggest using his virus. He created a powerful virus when someone tried to mess with Lady Boss’ name a few months ago..." Oscar explained that Willard Harper followed Rose’s Instagram. Oliver used his virus to attack all the gadgets that typed Rose’s name.
"He created that?" Evan was surprised to hear that.
"Yes! Well, I’ve taught him. But I didn’t expect him to develop it. And it’s quite effective. It’s just that the effect is so brutal, many victims will suffer loss...."
"I don’t care! Just use his method for now. And you better do your job correctly, Oscar!
I will accept no excuses. Find out who’s behind this mess!"
Evan started believing that the people behind this news wanted to attack him. They dared to pay dearly for top hackers from Europe — even Oscar had trouble tracking them down.
"Ayee boss!" Before Oscar ended the call, he remembered something. "Boss... I forgot to tell you. Actually, Lady Boss met Carla Miller a few days ago."
"What!? How did they meet?" Evan was taken aback.
