Chapter 51: Sleep Together

"Boss, what should I do to this fool?" Gavin continued his words. His eyes are looking toward his boss. Gavin could tell how angry his boss was right now.

Evan stood from his seat and walked to the window, looking at the street outside, his firm back facing the poor assistance. He could already guess it. This damn fool always wanted to know what he was doing. This person is increasingly testing his patience. But, this is not the right time to make a move to eliminate the poor fool. He needs the right time to move.

Lucky that this nasty fool didn’t know about Rose yet. If that stupid fool had known, something terrible might befall Rose. But if the damn fool did it... then he would not hesitate to counter with all his might. He will get rid of anyone who hurt Rose.

"For a while... do nothing. Let’s see what that fool will do next."

"Yes, Boss!"

"And, I will stay here. You can go back now. Tomorrow morning I will go to the Capital to meet you know who..." Then, as Evan still stood in his place, Gavin silently left the room.

Rose, who had finished seeing her mother enter the living room. He saw Evan standing looking outside the building. She could clearly hear him taking deep breaths as she watched him like he tried to free his restlessness. Something must be bothering him.

"Has Gavin left?"

Evan calmly turns to see his girl. "Hmm... He is needed somewhere else." He smiled at her and then asked her to sit on the sofa beside him.

"Auntie still sleeping?" He took her hand and squeezed it gently. Rose looked at Evan’s face. She can see how exhausted he is now.

"Yes, Mother is still asleep. I hope she sleeps well. Evan, you should go home. It’s almost midnight now. You need to take a rest too." She was worried that Evan would get sick from exhaustion.

Lately, he was always with her until late at night. What’s more, since this morning, he has been on standby in hospital with her. She never sees him take a rest, even just a moment. This man never leaves her. He always stands beside her and does anything to arrange her mother’s surgery.

Rose felt so lucky now. When she and her mother were going through all this, Evan was always there for them. If she had to face it alone, things wouldn’t necessarily go this smoothly. Maybe they are still waiting for the surgery schedule.

"I will sleep here."

"Huh!" Rose was surprised to hear that. Because in this VIP room, there is only 1 bed for the family who waits for the patient.

How could Evan read her mind? Rose tried to calm her mind so that her expression did not betray her and showed this intelligent man what she was thinking now.

"Oh... so if your mother isn’t around, you don’t mind sleeping with me?" Evan drew closer, his face to her, and stopped a few inches. He saw her eyelashes flutter and her lips tightly shut. She looked so pretty with her blushing face.

Evan continued his words, "My pretty girl, I also wanted to sleep with you... but not tonight. You look exhausted." A gentle smile appeared on his face making Rose almost choke.

How could this man conclude like that?

She tried to scold him, but now the man pulled away and sat straight, looking ahead. Make her feel a little bit relieved. Evan will not kiss her. She was afraid her mother would see them if this man kissed her like he always does.

She observed Evan. From her point of view, she can see something bothering him.

"Is there something you want to talk about, Evan?"

Evan looks at her while shaking his head.

"Nothing! Tonight I will sleep on this sofa. Because tomorrow morning, I have to go to the Capital. I have urgent business to attend to...." He took a deep sigh. He was reluctant to return to the Capital because he wanted to accompany Rose until her mother came home. But he had no other choice. He had to solve this problem, worried that the man would make trouble for her.

"Evan, something happened with your company or your family?" Now Rose is getting worried.

"Company!" He lied. He couldn’t possibly tell Rose about his conflict. Not now. Maybe one day he will tell her everything.

"Alright, you can sleep here. But, can you sleep comfortably?" Rose feels sorry because he has to sleep on this narrow sofa.

"It would be fine, Rose. Don’t mind me...." Evan placed his hand on her waist and pulled her to sit on his lap. Rose was shocked.

"Evan! Mother will see us...." Her heart was beating faster as she sat on his lap. And her head was so close to him. She can feel his heartbeat and his warm breath brush her face.

For a moment, they stared at each other in silence. It made Rose’s heartbeat even faster like her precious heart was preparing to leave her currently fragile body.

Evan whispers to her, "Aunty will not wake up until morning, Rose. Don’t worry, I just need to hug you...." Then he buried his head on her neck and closed his eyes.

These few days, his mind was occupied with a lot of things. And the one that pissed him off the most was dealings with Dustin. Now, he needs his lover’s hug to make him calmer and sane before his fight tomorrow in the Capital.

Rose’s mind was in a mess now because Evan tightly hugged her. She was afraid to move in his arms. She stays still until she can feel Evan letting go of his hug. But, this man never made her heart rest. When their eyes meet, she is instantly drawn again into his ocean-blue eyes but only for a second. She immediately regained her senses and stood up.

"Goodnight, Evan..."

"Night Roses!" He stood and led her into her bedroom. He kissed her lips gently before she closed the door.

The moment the door closed, his smile faded as he took his cellphone and typed something. Then, he turned off the light. Still using his long coat, he lay his body on the sofa and shut his eyes.

Chapter 52: I Love You

Rose stands behind the door, motionless. She tries to calm her raging heart after Evan kisses her lips. It wasn’t the first time Rose felt this way, every time he kissed her, it felt like there was a parade marching band inside her chest. The wave she felt was so great. It feels fun and makes her adrenaline rise to the top.

She buried her face in her palms and ran into the bathroom.

When she saw her face in the mirror, she was shocked.

"Did I fall in love with him? This fast?" It seemed that she still could not admit that the seeds of love had started to blossom deep down in her heart.

Too scared to see her blushing face getting redder, she immediately splashes her face with cold water.

After changing her clothes with her blue, pale silk short pajama, she took a blanket and pillow for Evan. However, she was surprised when she came out. The living room was already dark, and she saw Evan’s body sleeping on the sofa.

Is he asleep?

Worried Evan would wake up, she tiptoed to the sofa. She leaned over and whispered his name. But it seemed that Evan was fast asleep. He didn’t respond at all.

Slowly she covered Evan’s body with the blanket. She wanted to place the pillow but was worried that Evan would wake up. Then her eyes landed on his calm face. Without her knowing, she sat down at the table near the sofa. For a moment, she spoiled her eyes, admiring his good looks.

"How can you be this handsome, Evan?" She got immersed as she was enchanted with his beauty.

"How could you steal my heart this fast?" She slightly chuckled before she continued her words, "Evan, you have succeeded in making me fall in love with you...."

She feels betrayed by her heart. Her mind wanted to know him better, but her heart was already falling deep into this kind and sweet guy.

She wanted to tell him her true feelings, but she was too embarrassed because she had been too rash to tell Evan that she had absolutely no feelings for him. But in less than a month, he had fallen in love this deep? Gosh!

After being satisfied to see his good looks, she drew her head closer to him and kissed his lips.

"Evan, good night. I love you!" She stood up. But before she could move her feet, someone held her hand. She was shocked.

In a flash, she looked at her hand, to her surprise. She saw Evan grab her hand and his bright-looking eyes looking at her sharply.

"Y-You didn’t sleep?" She was shocked.

Did he hear what she was saying earlier? Instantly she felt so embarrassed that she confessed her love and stole a kiss!? What the heck!

"I’m not sleeping. I’m just resting my eyes...." Rose was speechless hearing Evan’s words.

"But why don’t you respond when I call your name?"

Evan did not reply to her words but pulled her hard. Instantly her body slammed onto his.

"E-Evan..." Hurriedly she wanted to get up and move away from him, but Evan’s arms wrapped around her waist and hugged her tightly. Now their bodies press to each other. While her head was right above his head. She held her breath and didn’t dare to move.

"I love you more, Rose!" Evan feels happy because Rose finally accepts his love completely. He dared not ask God for anything else. Having this girl’s heart was more than enough.

Rose tongue-tie hearing Evan’s words. She was so embarrassed that she wanted to disappear from the room. If the lights in this room were turned on, Evan could see how red her face was now.

"Y-You hear what I said?"

"Hmm... I hear everything! Thank you for not making me wait too long." He placed his hand on her head and slowly rubbed her smooth hair. "And thanks for the kiss, it was tender and sweet..." Rose felt so shy hearing that.

"You cheat...why pretend to sleep?" Rose buries her head on his neck, and she feels like she almost drowned in his fresh fragrance. She immediately pulled her head away. While trying to calm her heart.

This man really has a lot of pitfalls. His eyes always drowned her, and his sweet words made her blush. And now, his distinctive scent could make her mind not function normally. He is dangerous for her tiny and fragile heart.

"Evan, let’s sit and talk..."

She feels uncomfortable with their awkward position? She lay on his body. How could she resist this man if they were sitting in this position? She might have surrendered to him if he wanted to touch her.

"Damn, Rose! Please regain your sanity, huh!" She could only curse herself in her mind.

"I’m not pretending to sleep, dear... I just rest my eyes" Evan laughed softly, then let her sit beside him. "I’m in trouble now, Rose!" He put his arm around Rose’s waist and placed her chin on her shoulder. This makes Rose’s heart start to beat faster again.

"W-why are you in trouble?" She wants to see his face, but she is afraid their lips will meet if she turns back.

"I don’t think I want to go to the Capital. I just wanted to stay here with you... afraid someone may steal you from me."

Rose speechless. This man, why is he suddenly so possessive?

"Are you a child?" She chuckled. "How could you not trust me, huh? Go to the Capital. I will guard my heart for you. No one will be able to steal it." Rose’s body becomes frozen when Evan starts to kiss her nape.

"E-Evan, stop it. We will be in trouble if you continue to kiss me...." If her mother sees them, she may scold them. She immediately stood and walked away. "You sleep now! See you tomorrow...."

Evan could only laugh silently, seeing Rose run like a rabbit to her bedroom. She looked so cute and made him want to hold her even more. But, he restrained himself. In another room, there was his mother-in-law sleeping.

Now he really felt like he was in trouble. Will he stay here or return to the Capital and solve the problems that have annoyed him all day?

Chapter 54: Evil Woman From Her Past Appear

"Of Course! I can eat anything clean and healthy..." Molly laughs, looking at her daughter, who seems too strict to arrange her meal. She is even more stringent than the nurses and doctors. Make her a little bit irritated if she acts that way.

"Let me check on Doctor Doris..."

"Mom, this is your tea. Wait for me, I will buy your breakfast ..." She immediately went out to meet Sam.

"Sam, sorry to make you wait. You don’t have to stand all the time, Sam...." She gestures to him to keep sitting.

"Lady boss... is there anything I can help with?"

"Yes, Sam. It seems I need to buy breakfast outside for my mother. She is really sick of hospital food... Can you accompany her for a moment?"

Sam was confused. He thought Lady Boss would ask him to buy the food, but it turned out to be the opposite.

"L-Lady Boss, please stay here. I’ll go buy it for you..."

"Sam, are you sure?" Rose felt terrible since Sam was Evan’s assistant, not hers. To ask Sam to do her errands really bother her.

Rose guesses this timeline has changed now. Still, she was perplexed. But managed to calm her mind and did her best to hide her shocking expression and knowledge of the woman’s identity.

"I’m sorry... I heard you call my name. Do I know you?" Rose tried to act as if she didn’t know this woman.

"Miss Rose, I’m Dustin Moses’ mother. I suppose he is your close friend...."

Rose quietly took a deep sigh. Of course, she knows who she is. This evil woman made her life miserable after marrying Dustin. Every time they meet, she feels like she has entered hell.
