Ch. 56..60: Rebirth_ Dancing In My Destiny Chapter 56-60
Chapter 56: Worry
Rose did not expect that this woman’s attitude would change so fast.
Dustin’s mother stood from, the floor. With her thin and wrinkled index finger, she pointed to Rose.
Rose was stunned. She could feel that this woman’s anger was about to explode.
"You such a damn girl! How could you Lie? Dustin told me clearly... he went to jail because he had something to do with you. Now, you must take responsibility to help him out." The woman’s voice was shrill in Rose’s ears, torturing her eardrums. And her eyes flashed with anger looking at Rose as if she wanted to slap Rose through her eyes.
Rose was motionless, looking at her.
"You finally tore off your mask, aunty?" She silently mocks this evil woman in her heart. Earlier, she thought this woman was not as bad as in her previous life, but apparently the same. Her temper is still the same. She always looks down on other people. Especially her.
Rose stood up from her chair, starting to get sick of her arrogant attitude, even though at this moment, they had just met.
She walked to the door entrance, leaving the woman staring intently at her back. She could feel it. However, she kept walking without looking back. She tried to calm her mind, not wanting her emotions to be provoked.
After she opens the door, she looks back at that evil woman.
"Aunty, you may leave now. I can’t help Dustin... you came to the wrong person. I have absolutely no connection with your son’s case. I’m sorry... Please leave now. I have other things to do right now."
Rose did not want to linger in the same room with this evil woman. The longer she was near her, the more her heart boiled. The more she wants this woman to repay her harsh treatment now and in her previous life. Her heart turns frosty. She had absolutely no compassion for this woman, and it had never crossed her mind that she would help Dustin. That asshole deserved to stay in jail.
Dustin’s mother clenched her fists as she walked towards the entrance. Her eyes still flashed with anger as well as her expression looked wretched.
"I will go now! But you must remember I will come back again. I will find evidence that you were actually the one who put my son in prison." She glares at Rose once again and then walks past out of the house.
Now she really blames her son.
How could he say this girl could help him? This girl was not surprised or sad when she found out he was in prison. Shouldn’t this girl cry because she loves her son so much? How could she look calm when someone she likes is locked in jail? She was puzzled.
Rose gasped when she heard her phone ring.
She didn’t know how long she’d been standing behind the door since Dustin’s mother left her house. Her mind was completely confused about what had happened.
Why did that evil woman suddenly appear in front of her? Accuse her of being the cause of Dustin’s arrest by the police for a drug case?
She slowly dragged herself to the sofa and found her cell phone, which had now stopped ringing.
She was shocked, looking at her phone. It turned out Evan had called her many times. Before she wanted to call him back, her battery phone ran out. She took a deep sigh and then walked to her bedroom, looking for a battery charger.
Meanwhile, at the helicopter landing site not far from downtown East,
Evan wanted to tell Rose that he had landed in East city at this time. He is on the way to the hospital to meet her. But now, he is worried because he called her almost ten times, but she didn’t pick up. This is odd. Rose never once ignored his phone call. She always picks up calls from him, or she will call him back. But now, it’s already five minutes with no incoming calls from her.
"Did something happen to her or her mother?" He thought worriedly.
He makes a call to Sam.
Sam was surprised to see ’Big Boss’ displayed on his cellphone screen. He quickly stood up to answer the call.
"Boss..."
"Sam, can you ask Rose to pick up my phone?" Sam feels chill hearing his boss’s question. Worry something may happen to Lady Boss because the boss can’t contact her.
"B-Boss... Lady Boss is back at her house. She said she wanted to get some stuff..." Sam feels at fault for not following Lady Boss to her house. Even though his boss had ordered him to accompany her anywhere.
"Since when did she leave?" Evan starts to feel something happen to Rose. He immediately gave a code to Gavin to change directions to Rose’s house.
"Two hours ago!" Instantly, the telephone connection was cut off, causing Sam to feel alert. He stared blankly at his cell phone screen, thinking about his fate. He will definitely be punished for neglecting his duties.
While in the car.
"Drive fast!" Evan orders Gavin then he tries to call Rose once again. But at this time, Rose’s phone cannot be reached. His heart raced. He holds his cell phone tightly while looking out of the window.
A second later, he took his cell phone and made another phone call.
"Check the CCTV around Ms. Wilson’s minimart building. Do it fast!" Evan instructs someone to check unusual activity near Rose’s house. He couldn’t calm down before hearing his lover’s voice.
"How long until we get there, Gavin?"
Gavin felt tense the moment he felt the temperature in the car immediately drop to zero degrees as the frosty aura that came out from his boss’s body filled the vehicle.
"Twenty minutes, boss...."
"Make it ten!"
Gavin was speechless. How could he drive that fast when the road is busy like now? What’s more, they have to go through more than one traffic light up ahead.
Chapter 57: He Deserved a Punishment
Gavin hit the accelerator deeper without saying anything, wishing the God of Traffic would bless him with an empty road ahead. He needs to arrive at Lady Boss’s house within ten minutes, or this icy boss will throw a tantrum.
If he did that, they all would get into trouble. They probably won’t be able to sleep for a few days because the boss will make them work non-stop. Now he blamed Sam. How could that stupid Sam ignore the boss’ orders?
"That damn Sam looks like he hasn’t been to the top of the mountain in a long time!?" Gavin could only curse Sam in his heart.
Not too long after, Evan’s phone vibrated once again. A new mail arrived.
He looked at a video file in his mail inbox with a frown. The blurry-looking CCTV footage played, and he was stunned; He saw an old lady’s knee down in front of his girlfriend, and onlookers surrounded them.
"What happened?"
Evan’s thick eyebrow raised slightly. Confused with the content of the CCTV footage.
"Who is that woman?"
Too confused. Evan makes another phone call.
"Do you know the identity of that woman?" Evan’s voice sounds deep and cold.
"Master, she is Ms. Moses... a few minutes ago, she had just left Miss Rose’s house."
Evan’s heart felt like it stopped when he heard that name. How could these people come after his girlfriend? His hand gripped his phone tightly, feeling annoyed.
Why is everyone trying to challenge his patient? This morning he cleared the problem in the capital. Now, someone trying to harm his girl again?
"Send someone to follow that woman. And make sure there are no recordings or photos of Miss Rose circulating on the internet. You better take care of it...."
Evan hung up the phone with his unsettled mind. Intrigued by the purpose of Dustin’s mother to meet Rose. He was worried that the woman would hurt his girl. What’s more, until now he can’t reach her phone.
"Rose! I hope you are alright. I won’t forgive myself if anything happens to you..." He quietly prayed in his heart. While blaming himself because not assign someone to protect her from a distance. If only he did, maybe he wouldn’t have to worry like this, and she would be safe wherever she goes.
"Boss... is the lady boss alright?" Gavin, who had been worried, couldn’t help but ask when he saw his boss’s face look incredibly gloomy. Hearing his conversation on the phone, he became more and more curious about what was going on with Lady Boss.
"You better drive fast, Gavin!" Evan turned his face to look at Gavin with his cynical eyes. "And, can you train Sam not to be as stupid as now? How could he let Rose go alone without alerting me?" He will make sure Sam will get his punishment.
Since the Cloud Studio case, he didn’t want Rose to go anywhere alone. Especially now that Dustin is in prison. He could have an accomplice and ask them to hurt her, right?
Gavin gripped the steering wheel tightly when he heard the boss’ deadly warning. He knows his boss is now furious. He can’t make a tiny mistake. If he did, he would be in trouble.
He may company that stupid Sam to go to the lonely mountain. Damn it!
"I will make sure Sam gets his punishment, boss!" Gavin could only agree with his boss. Sam deserved a punishment.
Later, Gavin made a call while looking ahead, "Clear my way. I need to arrive in 7 minutes to my destination! NOW!" He whispered while his eyes looked straight at the street ahead.
Before the car stopped, Evan got out and ran up the stairs to the third floor. As soon as he arrived, he immediately rang the bell. Can’t wait to see if his girlfriend is all well.
Rose is busy collecting clothes and gadgets that she will bring to the hospital. After a while, she managed to put everything in her small suitcase. After that, she decided to wash first before going back to the hospital.
When she entered her bathroom, the white bathtub at the end of the room seemed to be calling her. And her body responded as she felt her whole body aching. She still has a few minutes to spoil her mind and body soak in the warm water. In a hurry, she filled the bathtub and undressed.
Her eyes landed on her wrist, and it made her heart tighten. There was still a small bandage covering the scar. She touches it gently and tries to open it. The spots on her wrist are still clearly visible but have started to dry up. She was so upset to see the scar because every time she saw it, she would remember the terrible incident at that time.
Then, her mind recalled what Dustin’s mother had said to her. There were so many questions running through her mind right now.
Why did Dustin suddenly get involved in a drug case?
And why did Dustin tell his mother that she could help him and that she was also the one who put him in jail?
This is really confusing.
Rose closes her eyes, trying to figure it out. However, instead of finding the answer, she felt her head spinning. Slowly she opened her eyes and took a deep sigh.
Fifteen minutes of soaking made her body more relaxed, but her mind was still chaotic. She got out of the bath and dried herself. As she came out of the bathroom, she heard the bell ringing.
She was stunned.
Who?
Is that Dustin’s mother? She wanted to wear her proper clothes, but the bell rang non-stop as if the person who rang the bell was angry. Feeling annoyed, she tied her bathrobe tightly, wrapping her hair with a white towel.
With quick steps, she walked towards the door.
When she peeks at the doorway, she shows no one standing behind the door. She felt alert and worried about opening the door.
Just before she wanted to go back to her bedroom, the bell rang again. Annoyed. She quickly opened the door, and she was shocked.
"E-EVAN!!"
Chapter 58: To Tell or Not To Tell?
Standing at the door for a few minutes, Evan was so worried that Rose didn’t open the door. However, when he saw the girl standing before him, only using her bathrobe and her hair wrapped with a white towel. He feels like his heart is pounding like crazy.
His worry washed away at her blushing cheeks and slightly wet cherry rips. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his embrace.
"I Miss you...." Evan brought her into the house and locked the door behind him. He presses her onto the white wall and holds her chin to make her face look at him. He saw her hazel eyes confused, looking at him.
"How could you assault my heart like this, Rose?" Evan groaned while drawing closer his head till their forehead touched. Slowly he placed his hand on her neck while rubbing her cheek with his thumb. He feels a thrill when her eyes flutter, like a butterfly’s wings moving beautifully in slow motion. He was bewitched.
When looking at her beauty, his desire awakened. Instantly the air conditioner in the room could not withstand his body heat. He feels his chest ready to explode. He really wants to untie her bathrobe and expose her fair pale skin. The more he tried to suppress his desire, the shorter his breaths became.
"E-Evan..." Rose, confused-looking Evan, presses her on the wall.
Why did he suddenly act like this? And his eyes? She can see his eyes burning like someone is making a bonfire there.
"W-What are you doing? Why did you come back so soon? Have you finished your business in the capital?" She lowered her eyes to avoid his eyes. Evan was so close to her she could feel his breath on her face.
Rose’s soft charming voice made him snap out. He subdued his desire to kiss and undress her. Slowly he took a few steps back to make room for them. No. Not for them. But to make room for his thoughts that were almost swallowing him. He almost lost his sense and touched the girl he loved. He cursed and scolded his despicable mind.
"Rose, I’m sorry if I startled you. Can you put your clothes on first? I will wait for you here...."
Rose was surprised to realize that she was still wearing a bathrobe at this time. She quickly ran to her bedroom. She was so embarrassed that Evan saw her wearing such a seductive outfit. What’s more, she was wearing nothing under her bathrobe.
Evan felt relieved when Rose disappeared from his sight.
He took a deep sigh to make his lungs get enough air. While slapping his forehead to punish himself because of his sultry desire to touch her. He slowly walked to the sofa and threw his body. His mind now feels relieved. But suddenly he remembers his worries about that asshole mother suddenly appearing right before Rose.
Looked at his surroundings. There was no trace of a fight in the room. Everything looks neat. There is only one cup of tea on the coffee table. He chuckled, realizing that he was worrying too much.
It seemed they were just chatting. According to the CCTV footage he received, the woman was only at Rose’s house for about fifteen minutes. But when she came out of this house, she looked irritated. And she went straight to the police station where her son was being held.
He already asked his people to monitor that woman’s movement. He will make sure she will never come near his girlfriend again. He doesn’t want Rose to have another encounter with that asshole, Dustin.
If he knows something like this will happen, he will use his hard way to punish Dustin. He will make sure that the asshole dies of an overdose.
Moments later, the two of them left the house.
"Why do you bring so much stuff?" Evan helped Rose put her suitcase in his car trunk. After that, he helped her into the passenger seat.
"I forgot to prepare my outfit for our final test..." She was too focused on her mother’s surgery until she forgot that she would attend her thesis trial the day after tomorrow. "Are you driving alone?"
"I asked Gavin to go back to the hospital to replace Sam..." Evan fastened Rose’s seat belt. Then, he smoothed her messy hair with one hand before continuing his words, "That Sam is so stupid! Why did he let you go alone?"
Rose was stunned. Why was Evan suddenly mad at Sam? Did he find out about Dustin’s Mother coming to her house and get annoyed by it?
She hesitated, telling Evan about this. Worry, Evan grew angry with Sam. She remembered earlier that Sam had insisted on driving her because Evan asked him to accompany her anywhere. But she refused and asked him to just stay at the hospital to look after her mother.
Seeing Evan’s eyes in radiant anger, she realized that Sam’s fate was now in her hands. She couldn’t let Evan punish Sam. Because it’s all her fault. It wasn’t Sam’s fault.
She glanced at Evan who was sitting behind the wheel.
"Evan... can you not punish Sam? I forced him to stay in the hospital to accompany my mom...." Rose grabbed Evan’s hand. "Please, Evan... I don’t want him to be blamed. This is my fault, not him!"
Looking at her innocent-looking eyes and her sweet voice made Evan melt.
"Fine! I will not punish him...."
"Thank you, Evan..." Rose feels relieved.
Along the way to the hospital, Rose is torn between telling Evan about Dustin’s mother. Besides worrying he would be mad again at Sam, she was also concerned Evan would get jealous or misunderstood because she knew Dustin’s mother.
After she thought deeply, she decided to keep it a secret.
"Evan... Sam is your personal assistant, right?"
"Yes." Evan quickly looked at Rose before continuing to look ahead. "Actually, I was thinking of assigning him to help you. You need someone to manage your administration and schedule at times like this. He also can be your driver and bodyguard at the same time."
Rose was surprised to hear how capable Sam was. She did need someone to help her, especially if she has started actively running her business in the capital.
"I do need someone like Sam, but he is your employee and capable personal assistant. Is it ok to ask him to work for me?"
"You will soon be my wife, Rose. Everything I have now will be yours... including Sam. So don’t overthink."
Once again, Rose was utterly speechless at his words.
Gosh, this man, why does he always bring up marriage every time they talk?
Chapter 59: Asking For Forgiveness
Too embarrassed, she turned her head, looking outside. She doesn’t want to continue the conversation about marriage. It felt weird discussing it with him.
"Why are you silent, Rose? Do you agree with what I have said?"
"Yes. I will follow your arrangement...." Rose answered in such a low voice and soft without looking at him.
"Alright then. I will register our marriage when we arrive at the capital!" A satisfied smile framed his face.
"WHAT?" Rose quickly looked at Evan. Why suddenly they will register their marriage. Did she misspeak for this man to conclude that? She quickly remembered the sentence that she said earlier. However, she didn’t feel like saying that. Her brow furrowed. Looked at him, confused.
She saw a happy smile framing his face. Her mind was curious as to what this man was thinking.
"Evan! When did I say I agreed to register our marriage?" She needs to clarify, or this man will go to the registry office.
"Huh!? Didn’t you say you would follow what I did?"
"It’s true. I said I agreed. But, for Sam to be my assistant...."
"I thought you agreed with the idea of us getting married once we arrived at the capital...."
Evan just tries his luck. Maybe Rose also has the same thought as him. But he was wrong and will have to be more patient. He will ask her to register their marriage later when she moves there. He can hardly wait to make this woman his wife, afraid someone may steal her from him.
Soon they arrive at the hospital.
When Rose entered the VIP wardroom, she saw Sam and Gavin still sitting in the seating area. They both seemed to be chatting so seriously till they didn’t even notice their presence.
"Rose, go look at your mother. I will place your suitcase in your room first before I greet her...." Evan whispers to Rose.
At this moment, Sam and Gavin already noticed their presence. They immediately stood up, looking at their boss and the lady boss, who was ignoring them. They feel tense but keep soundless.
"Rose, you came back already?" Molly smiles, looking at her daughter entering the room. "Where’s my son-in-law?" Earlier, she had faintly heard Evan’s voice, but she had not seen him enter with her daughter. Did she hear wrong?
"Evan was keeping my suitcase in the next room. He will greet you soon...." Rose sat on the chair beside her mother’s bed. "Did you take your nap?" She saw that her mother’s face was now rosier, and her eyes looked slightly bright. She looks so much better than before.
"I did. I had just woken up when I heard your voice...." Molly widely smiled as she saw Evan enter the room. He looked casual, wearing a pale blue shirt with black jeans. "Son-in-law, come here. Let me see you closer...." Molly took Evan’s hand and tapped it gently.
Rose could only smile awkwardly looking at how her mother adores Evan. She started to feel jealous looking at how her mother treated him. They are really close. If other people see their interaction, they might think Evan is her son, not her future son-in-law.
Rose silently listened to their conversation while massaging her mother.
"Aunty, how is your condition? Is there anything uncomfortable? Please tell me if you feel uncomfortable... so I can ask Dr. Doris to come here to recheck you." Evan is now standing beside Rose, who is sitting on a chair.
"No need to trouble her. I’m fine...." Molly felt bad that Doctor Doris had to fly to this city to check on her condition. "Besides, Dr. Doris has called me several times and asked about my condition." She feels blessed because the number one doctor in this country took her precious time to treat her.
Evan was relieved to hear that Aunty Molly was much better. If Aunt Molly was healthy, his girl would feel at ease moving to the capital.
After chatting with Molly, Evan excused himself to meet his assistant outside. He wants to assign Sam to be Rose’s assistant from now on.
In the living room area,
"Brother Gavin... Can you please mercy me? Please don’t ask our boss to send me to a lonely mountain. How could I stay there?" Sam paced back and forth in front of Gavin. Ever since seeing his boss’s cynical face, he’s been restless. He knows what he did was wrong. And he knew that there would be punishment waiting for him.
"Sam, it’s still better if you are sent to the mountains. Do you know what my punishment is?" Sam shakes his head, confused. "Boss will send me to the north pole to accompany the polar bear there...."
Sam was stunned. He saw Gavin with disbelief-looking eyes.
He must be making it up, right? No way the boss will send him there. They don’t even have a branch office there. He took another deep breath to make his chest feel lighter.
Then, Sam abruptly stopped when he saw Evan now walk toward them, his face looked calm but the look in his eyes was hard to tell.
"B-Boss.... I deserve a punishment." Sam bowed so profoundly that his forehead almost touched his own knee. Gavin nearly choked, looking at his awful overacting.
"Rise and seat, guys!" Evan ignored Sam.
He sat on a single-seat sofa. After he saw Sam sit opposite him, he continued his words. "I’m not your king. Why do you bow so deeply?" He sneered.
"B-Boss, I’m really sorry for my..." Sam stops when he sees Evan raise his palm and his face still looks calmer. There’s no anger in there.
Was his boss not angry with his negligence? Sam was shocked.
Not only was Sam shocked, but so was Gavin. This is the first time he saw his boss not angry about their mistakes.
"I forgive you! But, from now on, you won’t be my assistant anymore...." Evan’s words made Sam slump down.
Sam’s heart feels like it has stopped working correctly. He knew it! His boss will definitely punish him. And the punishment this time was severe. He was immediately fired without warning.
Chapter 60: Shocking Announcement
"Boss, I beg of you... please don’t fire me. I still want to serve you. Please give me one more chance. I will never let you down." Sam quickly begged Evan for forgiveness. He couldn’t stop now. Evan had helped him so much since he was in college until now working for him. His family would still be in big trouble if it weren’t for him.
"Yes, boss... please give Sam a chance. Just let me punish him... But don’t fire him." Gavin, who was still shocked to hear that Sam had been dismissed as Evan’s assistant, also pleaded for him. He didn’t want Sam to leave the company because this man was brilliant. He also knows that Sam is very loyal to his boss. It’s not easy to get someone like Sam.
Evan’s mouth twitched, hearing his assistant’s words.
"Who said I fired you?"
Sam and Gavin were shocked. Didn’t their boss just say that? Does he have a short memory disease now? How could he forget? They look at each other, feeling confused.
Evan narrowed his eyes looking at his shocked assistants.
"From now on, you will be Rose’s assistant. You will accompany her and be her guard."
Sam was surprised, but he was happy to hear that. It’s better to be an assistant to Lady Boss than to be fired.
Evan continues, "But if you make the same mistake again... then I will fire you without warning." Evan’s frosty voice makes Sam feel tense.
Sam stood straight facing Evan, then bowed deeper before saying, "BOSS! I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOUR FUTURE WIFE, LADY BOSS, FROM NOW ON..."
Evan almost choked. He nearly stuffed Sam’s mouth with his shoe. How can he talk so loud like that? Molly and Rose could hear it. What a shame!
*****
Today is the day Evan and Rose are waiting for. They will have a final thesis trial. For Evan, this was just a formality. He was very relaxed.
But not so with Rose. Since leaving the hospital, she has focused on re-reading her thesis. Trying to remember everything she wrote so she will not make any mistakes and can make all professors satisfied. She knew she couldn’t be number one, but at least she could be right under Evan, as usual.
Evan, who was driving, couldn’t help but chuckle, looking at his girlfriend. Several times he calmed her down, but the love of his life still seemed so serious and tense.
When their car was parked near the faculty, Evan turned to see Rose, still reading the thesis on her laptop.
"Rose, I’m getting suspicious. Maybe it wasn’t you who wrote your thesis but someone else..." He teases her. But instead of his lover smiling at his words, she just glared at him like she was feeling annoyed with his words.
"Evan, how can you say that?" Rose feels sullen.
"Rose, can you tell that I’m just trying to cheer you up? Dear, you look so tense now...." He rubs her hair gently, trying to calm her a little.
Rose felt stunned hearing his words. She realized that she was so sensitive right now that she was annoyed with Evan. She closed her eyes, trying to calm her mind and heart.
After some time, she opens her eyes again and meets his calm blue ocean eyes staring at her.
"Evan, I’m really sorry... you’re right. I shouldn’t be tense like this. I need to relax more..." She closed her laptop and placed it in her bag. "Shall we go now?"
"Hmm... let’s go!"
When they entered the waiting room area, it was already filled with their classmates who had arrived earlier.
Instantly she felt uncomfortable because all eyes looked at her. She knew what they were thinking. They are still waiting for clarification on her relationship with Evan, which was exposed a few days ago.
Since then, she has wholly avoided her classmates, especially her ’Genius Chat Group.’ She didn’t even dare to open that chat group. Rose believes they will bombard her with questions about it every time she is seen online.
And as it turned out, she wasn’t the only one who avoided it. But so did Evan. He had never written anything in their group chat since their photo was leaked.
Rose felt awkward entering the room. She didn’t know where to sit until Evan grabbed her hand and pulled her to sit in an empty area near their group chat friends.
There are five people in the Genius Chat Group; Herself, Evan, and three more geniuses in her class.
Rose saw her three friends, James, Danny, and Randy, staring at her intently. She could see a big question mark plastered on their foreheads. She could only shake her head when she sat in her chair, then Evan sat next to her.
"Alright, guys! Just ask what you want to know!?" Her face shows a faint smile as she places her laptop bag on her lap.
"So you guys are really dating?" The man with curly red hair sitting in front of Rose asked her.
Rose saw Randy Finley, who looked neat opposite her. This was the first time she saw Randy wearing formal clothes now. Usually, he only uses his oversized hoodie in class, and now he is not wearing his glasses. Did he use contact lenses? Rose is amazed that Randy, a nerd among them, can look like a CEO in a teen drama she’s ever watched on TV. Not only Randy, who looks neat but James and Danny too. They all wear their best suit.
"What you guys think is true. We are a couple now, soon to become husband and wife!" Evan, who wanted to tell the three of them about his relationship with Rose, finally spoke.
And, of course, his shocking announcement made the three men in front of them look frozen. Their eyes widened so much that their eyeballs almost left theirs.
Rose was speechless hearing Evan’s words.
How could this man have stolen her lines? And why did he have to tell them about his plans to marry her soon?
Sigh!
Now she feels embarrassed, wanting to disappear from the room when she feels the three pairs of eyes looking sharp at her.
