The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1981

"Um,“ Devon did not know howto react to Oliver's interrogation. He knew full well that trespassing was among the most forbidden acts in the Gangster World!

Although the Dragon Corps rarely got involved in these conflicts, they have long-established some laws about gang wars and feuds to minimize the consequences as much as possible to maintain peace. However, the fact that the Hiltons trespassed into the Scammells' territory meant that they broke one of the most sacred laws known to them!

It was one thing if the Dragon Corps were not notified of this, but now that they came to know of the Hiltons' invasion, there was no way they could sit by idly and allow it to happen right underneath their noses!

"Sirs, please listen to me! Leon has also trespassed into the Golans' territory once before, and not only did he cripple my cousin, Seth, he even stripped Seth of his powers-a truly cruel and ruthless act! We Hiltons came over on behalf of the Golans to avenge Seth's fate-we didn't mean to overpower or bully him without reason at all!" Joel declared, stepping up to explain everything to Oliver and Abraham.

"Yes, Joel is right! We're just here to seek revenge for what Leon did. As long as the Scammells hand him over, make him apologize to Seth, and make the appropriate restitution, we Hiltons will retreat immediately and spare the Scammells! However, if they insist on protecting Leon and refuse to hand him over, I'm afraid we have to do things the hard way. I sincerely hope you can where we're coming from, sirs!" Devon added, regaining a little confidence in his stance now.

"Well," Oliver and Abraham both frowned when they heard this and exchanged dubious glances.

The Dragon Corps prided themselves on maintaining peace without utilizing violence. Thus, they always made it a priority to have evidence before prosecuting anyone, but now, it was clear that Leon was the one who provoked the Hiltons in the first place!

Not only did the Hiltons and Golans have a perfect reason for retaliating, but they also did not, in fact, cause much harm to the Scammells at all, nor were there any lives lost at this event.

Therefore, the Dragon Corps was in no place to interfere at all!

"Nonsense! Sirs, please don't believe them! It was Seth who first attacked Snow and me, and Leon was forced to attack Seth to save me," Iris quickly explained.

"Oh, is that so?" Oliver and Abraham perked up when they heard this. Since Seth was the main culprit and not Leon, this made things much easier to handle!

Leon was not the one to blame anymore for all this, and besides, Leon was technically their superior, so of course they would not let anything happen to him right underneath their noses!

"Sirs, this is just Iris' claims, she's just trying to slander us and you shan't listen to her! she's perfectly fine now, but

Seth is still suffering the consequences of Leon's actions- that's the real truth!" Joel piped up.

He was technically correct; Iris was unscathed from her encounter with Seth, and as long as neither the Hiltons nor the Golans admitted it, there was no way to know whether she was telling the truth or not!

"That's right! My grandson is still recovering from his injuries, and the evidence is as clear as day! Sirs, please do help us get revenge for this unlawful act toward him!" Eliam shouted. Then, he signaled to his guards to bring Seth over on his stretcher and laid him down on the ground before Oliver and Abraham.

At this moment, Seth looked extremely frail and sickly-a stark contrast to Iris, who was in perfect health!

There was no denying this, and the Dragon Corps were people of great rationality, so they were certain that the Dragon Corps would be able to make the right call!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1982

"Outrageous! This is shameless!" Angus and the rest of the people on Leon’s side were infuriated to hear Joel, Eliam, and the others slander Leon like that.

However, they could not deny the truth that was sitting right in front of them; Iris was perfectly unscathed, whereas Seth was severely injured!

One did not have to be a rocket scientist to see who was the victim here!

Therefore, as much as they wanted to help clear Leon's name, none of them knew just how to begin explaining this!

"Sirs, that's not what happened at all!" Iris was beginning to panic at this. She wanted to explain everything to Oliver and Abraham, but before she could even begin, Oliver stopped her, "Miss Young, you don't have to say anything further! We know just what the truth is!"

"Oh no! It appears that even the Dragon Corps have fallen prey to Joel's lies!" Everyone's hearts sank at this. They all assumed that Oliver and Abraham bought into Joel's lies!

They were not the only ones thinking this; even the Hiltons and the Golans were thinking the same and were grinning from ear to ear upon hearing this, however, what happened next made their smiles freeze on their faces.

"Elder Hiltons, it's clear that Seth was the one who started all this in the first place, but you Hiltons and Golans have jumped the gun by blaming it on the wrong person! Do you honestly think we're idiots?" Oliver snarled, casting Joel and Devon a murderous glare.

"What?" no one could believe their ears.

"You must be mistaken, Mister Jelphs! My cousin Seth is the victim of all this! I can't believe that not only did you fail to see Leon's fault in this, but you even turn around to blame us instead!" Joel asked incredulously.

"I'm not mistaken! I'm sure that you know better than anyone who was the victim in all this!" Oliver replied with a sneer.

"But why? I thought you Dragon Corps prided yourselves on being sensible people, and the evidence is clear as day-my cousin was severely hurt throughout all this! Why are you choosing to believe Leon over us?" Joel retorted.

"Well, Mister Wolf and us Dragon Corps go way back, so, of course, we'd be inclined to believe him over you crooks! Are you happy with that answer?" Abraham scoffed.

"What?" Joel, Devon, and the rest were astounded to hear this, especially Devon. Ever since noticing that Leon was frail and could barely even get up from his wheelchair, he jumped to the conclusion that Leon would be an easy opponent and thus took almost zero notice of him!

He never once imagined that this nobody would not only turn out to not only have connections to the Thompsons and the Hughes but even the Dragon Corps as well!

This was unbelievable!

One could only imagine their bewilderment at this realization.

However, the Hiltons were not the only ones astounded by this; even Iris and Angus were staring agape, utterly stunned by Oliver’s declaration.

They never once thought that a prestigious organization like the Dragon Corps would not only be aware of Leon's existence but even be willing to protect him as well!

This was akin to a miracle, and none of them would have believed this to be true if they did not hear it with their ears!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1983

"Splendid! This is splendid! Mister Wolf, not only are you a talented man, but your greatness is known even to government figures! My admiration for you grows even deeper with each passing day!" Angus could not help bursting into laughter as he said this, he knew Leon for a while now and was beginning to grow familiar with Leon's background.

Initially, he thought Leon was just a nobody who hailed from Springfield City and would not be able to achieve much in a big city like the Southern Region, but now, he finally realized just how much he underestimated Leon!

The fact that Leon managed to build connections with the Dragon Corps themselves proved to be an incredible feat that not even the major families could have achieved, much less any ordinary man!

His impression of Leon changed entirely!

"Marvelous Leon! He surprises us at every turn, and I truly wonder just how much he still has up his sleeve," Patrick and Damian were equally as delighted, grinning from ear to ear.

Iris and Snow were just as pleasantly surprised. They were both close with Leon and were familiar with his situation, and yet, this was their first time discovering that Leon had connections to the Dragon Corps, which was no doubt a shocking revelation!

Although none of them were sure how Leon managed to pull this off, one thing was clear; no matter how Joel continued trying to manipulate his way out of this, there was no way Oliver and Abraham would buy into his lies anymore!

This thought reassured them very much, and they finally felt as though a weight was lifted off their shoulders.

"Who on earth is this twat? How could he have gotten involved with the Dragon Corps?" In contrast, Devon, Joel, and the rest of the Hiltons were ashen-faced, their hearts sinking at the realization that they lost.

After all, it was indeed Seth's fault in the first place!

If only Oliver and Abraham were swayed into believing them, with the evidence at hand, the Hiltons could stand a chance of sending them off and defeating Leon once and for all!

However, neither Oliver nor Abraham believed a single word of theirs, and no matter how hard they tried to persuade them otherwise, their efforts would be futile!

"Elder Hiltons, since no one has yet to get hurt, we'll give you one last chance! If you retreat right this instant, we Dragon Corps will choose to turn a blind eye to what you did today! If not, well —you’ll have to bear the consequences!" Oliver warned.

"Um," the color drained from their faces at this. They already outnumbered Leon by a significant margin and were just moments away from taking him down, so none of them wanted to give up such a valuable opportunity, but now, with the Thompsons, the Hughes, and even the Dragon Corps on

Leon's side, they blew their chances!

None of them dared to square up against all three of these parties at the same time—crossing time would come at a hefty price that none of them could bear!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1984

"Fine! This ends here. We Hiltons and Golans will retreat now! Let's go, troops!" after a brief moment of contemplation, Devon finally decided to take the high road.

After all, Leon could run, but he could not hide!

Although Leon got lucky this time and managed to get away with three parties on his side, the Hiltons were certain that his luck would eventually run out!

They would wait patiently until that day arrived, and then get rid of him once and for all!

There was no need to act rashly at all —the perfect time would eventually come!

"You want to run? Not so fast!" all of a sudden, Leon sneered. "Sirs, Seth, and Gordon acted under Joel's orders throughout all this, and so he's the mastermind behind all this! Please arrest him and give him the punishment he deserves!" he said solemnly.

Since Joel remained impartial throughout all this, Leon previously mistakenly thought that he was not involved in Iris and Snow's kidnapping at all, but now, after Gordon's betrayal, he discovered that Joel was the mastermind behind all this!

Not only was he the one who instructed Gordon to capture Iris and Snow, but he even summoned the rest of the Hiltons to kill him!

There was no way he could allow the Hiltons to leave just like that, without any retribution for the crimes they committed at all!

"Um," Oliver and Abraham froze when they heard this, then exchanged nervous glances.

The Hiltons were one of the most powerful families in the Southern region, and the Dragon Corps could not possibly capture any member of them without a valid reason!

Therefore, it was not at all appropriate of them to arrest Joel just based on Leon's orders!

However, Leon was their superior, and there was no way they could go against his orders!

With these two considerations in mind, they could not help wondering what was the best course of action.

"Hey, don't overstep your boundaries, you twat!" Devon and Joel were both outraged by this. The Hiltons had the upper hand, and if the Dragon Corps did not show up just in time, Leon probably would have been dead by now!

Not only was Leon ungrateful for his narrow escape, but he even dared to retaliate!

None of them could understand just how naive this man was!

"Mister Wolf, let's just leave this for another day!"

"Yes, it's better to count our blessings. Please let the Hiltons and the Golans leave!" Angus and Alan quickly piped up.

They all knew that with the Hiltons' influence, the Dragon Corps could not arrest them without reason at all.

Thus, it was utterly bogus of Leon to demand them to capture Joel just like that!

Because of this encounter, the Thompsons and the Hughes already became enemies of the Hiltons, and as long as Leon could stomach this one incident, he would have plenty of opportunities to seek revenge on them again in the future!

There was no need for him to demand retribution right now at all!

The Ex-Hcusband’s Revenge chapter 1985

"No, we can't let this go just like that! Sirs, Joel was the one who commanded Seth and Gordon to commit such a heinous crime, so you have to bring him back to the headquarters for interrogation!" Leon's face was calm, but there was a hint of authority in his tone that made everyone perk up.

"Have you gone insane, Leon? Do you honestly think the Dragon Corps will arrest me just because you asked them to? Who do you think are?" Joel snickered, casting Leon a glance of disdain.

The Hiltons were so powerful that as long as he did not get involved in murder or any crime of the sort, the Dragon Corps would not dare to lay a finger on him!

Besides, he covered up his tracks very well and did not once hurt Leon or Iris himself at all!

He could not believe that Leon, a nameless nobody from Springfield City, would have the audacity to command the Dragon Corps to arrest him!

One would have to be out of their right mind to do this!

"Ignore him, Joel! Let's go!" Devon scoffed. He, like Joel, did not think much of Leon's words at all. Although now he knew that Leon had some connections to the Dragon Corps, this did not mean the Dragon Corps would be at his beck and call!

Oliver and Abraham could not act on Leon's baseless claims and arrest anyone without evidence unless they were even bigger idiots than Leon himself!

However, what happened next shocked them all to the core.

"Wait! Elder Hiltons, you and the rest of your men can leave, but Joel has to stay!" Oliver and Abraham stepped forward to block their path.

"What?" everyone, including Angus and Alan, was stunned by this, unable to believe their ears.

None of them ever imagined that the Dragon Corps would indeed obey Leon's command to arrest Joel!

"Mister Jelphs, Mister Scottson, what is the meaning of this? what are you trying to do?" Devon's expression darkened.

"What we're trying to do is simple-your grandson is suspected of attempted abduction and wrongful restraint, and he needs to come with us to the Dragon Corps headquarters for interrogation!" Oliver replied. Although none of them had any evidence of Joel's wrongdoing, they could tell from Leon's tone what he was prepared to do.

Leon intended to do the same with Joel as he did with Rodney-keep him in captivity for a few days to teach him a lesson!

Of course, in consideration of the Hiltons' power, the Dragon Corps could not possibly do anything else apart from this, but since Leon was a Platinum Dragon Guard, it was well within his right to arrest Joel for interrogation!

"Nonsense! Oliver Jelphs, let me warn you, if you want to take my grandson away, you'll have to give me a proof first! If not, I won't hesitate to use violence!" Devon was infuriated by this. A surge of energy emanated all around him and charge straight toward Oliver and Abraham!

Although Oliver and Abraham were Gold Dragon Guards, they were not the most authoritative of the Dragon Corps- they still had the Platinum Dragon Guards and Mister Glasbey, the person in charge of the entire Southern region branch, above them!

As second-level guards, neither Oliver nor Abraham were in any position to represent the Dragon Corps and arrest Joel without evidence of his crimes!

If they were to do so, the Hiltons had the perfect reason to strike back against them, and if this got out, the ones that would have to bear the consequences were Oliver and Abraham themselves, since they acted out of line!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1986

"Well, Elder Hiltons, I won't hesitate to let you know that we are acting on the Platinum Dragon Guard and Mister Glasbey's orders, so if you have any objection to that, you can talk to Mister Glasbey yourself! All in all, Joel has to come with us for interrogation!" Oliver said rather hesitantly when he sensed Devon's bubbling true energy.

Considering the Hiltons' influence in the Southern region, he was concerned that just bringing up the Platinum Dragon Guard would not be sufficient to qualm Devon’s rage, and so he decided to add Mister Glasbey's name to the mix.

"Well," Devon's expression darkened, but his aura dimmed when he heard this.

If Oliver and Abraham acted on their own accord, they would have overstepped their line and the Hiltons would have had a perfect reason to retaliate, but now, everything changed after knowing that they were acting on the Platinum Dragon Guard and Mister Glasbey's orders!

They were especially intimidated by Mister Glasbey-he was the highest-in-command of the entire Southern region branch of Dragon Corps, and was far more powerful than even Elder Hiltons himself!

Not even Elder Hiltons dared to go against Mister Glasbey's orders!

"What should we do now, Grandpa?" Joel asked, ashenfaced and looking lost.

"Joel, you should follow them to the headquarters for some questioning. I'll talk to Mister Glasbey myself and demand an explanation for this!" Devon said coldly. Although Oliver claimed that they were acting on such orders, he did not believe them a hundred percent.

Therefore, he wanted to demand an explanation from Mister Glasbey himself!

If Oliver and Abraham indeed acted out of line, he would make them pay for this!

However, if they acted following their instructions, he was certain that the Dragon Corps would release Joel soon enough since they did not have any evidence to prove his wrongdoings at all!

He would only be kept a few days at most!

"Well, okay then." Joel had no choice but to relent.

"Please come with us, Mister Hiltons." Oliver and Abraham could not help sighing in relief when they saw Devon finally relenting.

With that, Abraham escorted Joel into the car.

"Let's go then!" at this point, there was no longer any indication for the Hiltons to stay, so Devon summoned his troops and left in a huff.

"Finally! It’s all over now!" Iris, Patrick, and the rest finally felt the weight lift off their shoulders.

They were not the only ones relieved by this; Angus, Alan, and the rest of the Thompsons and Hughes were equally delighted.

Although none of them were at all afraid of the Hiltons, they could not help feeling intimidated by the Hiltons’ sheer amount of force which significantly overpowered them!

This was especially true for Alan; Gordon's mission almost killed Darius, and because of this, his hatred for Joel ran even deeper than bone!

Now, Leon not only managed to de-escalate this conflict, but the Dragon Corps successfully arrested Joel, and this was more than enough for the Hughes!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1987

After they left, Oliver hesitated for a moment, then strode over to Leon’s side. 'Mister Wolf, I have something I need to discuss with you in private," he muttered.

"Sure." Leon nodded.

With that, Angus, Alan, Iris, and Snow unanimously took a few steps backward, giving Leon and Oliver the privacy they needed.

"What did you want to talk to me about, Oliver?" Leon asked dubiously.

"Sir, there has been news about the other criminals that you asked Abraham and me to track down a few days ago. We heard from the Western region branch of the Dragon Corps that they have eyes on the eighth man of the Criminal List, Poisonwielder," Oliver explained.

"I see!" Leon finally understood why Oliver and Abraham showed up at the Scammells' place all of a sudden. It turned out that they traveled all the way here to bring this news to him, but stumbled upon the Hiltons' invasion by accident!

"Who's this Poisonwielder, Oliver? How powerful is he?" Leon asked. He specifically instructed Oliver and Abraham to keep an eye on the rest of the criminals on the list so that he could stand a chance to get even more contribution points, which he would exchange for The Angel's Fruit, for taking down their enemies.

However, now that he already got his hands on The Angel's Fruit, he no longer needed to risk his life defeating the rest of the criminals!

Despite that, the Eight Criminals were among the most infamous people in the entire Sky County, with many citizens fearing their name. As an honorary member of the Dragon Corps, Leon was obliged to help maintain peace by getting rid of as many criminals as he could!

Therefore, now that the Dragon Corps got wind of one of the criminals' whereabouts, he would have to find a way to defeat him if possible!

Before he could do that, however, he first had to understand his opponents' background and the extent of his powers!

"Sir, Poisonwielder has already attained the Initial Almighty State. Although he's the last among the Eight Criminals, he's far more powerful than Asmodeus, who is the seventh on the list. Not only that, he's known to be far more malicious and a bigger pain in the butt than Asmodeus was," Oliver replied truthfully.

"What? I can't believe it!" Leon was shocked to hear this, he knew of Asmodeus' ranking on the Criminal List from the Dragon Corps, and initially, when he first heard that Poisonwielder was the eighth on the list, he thought that this man's powers would be on par, if not lesser than that of Asmodeus'. If he could make a guess, he would estimate this man to be in the Semi Almighty State at most.

He never once imagined that Poisonwielder would turn out

to be far more powerful than Asmodeus!

At the thought of this, Leon could not help wondering why, with such powers, was Poisonwielder ranked lower than Asmodeus on the list.

"Sir, the people on the Criminal List aren't necessarily organized by a ranking of their power. We also take into account the timing of their first appearance and the extent of their cruelty," Oliver explained.

The Criminal List was dynamic as sometimes, some of the criminals would be removed from the list after their deaths or captured by either the Dragon Corps or the major families in Sky County. Despite that, new people constantly cropped up, and would thus be added onto the list.

Since Asmodeus rose to power about a couple of years ago and was added to the Criminal List by the Central region branch of the Dragon Corps, whereas Poisonwielder only first appeared about six months ago, this was why he was ranked behind Asmodeus despite being more powerful than him.

If one were to judge on behalf of his strength and overall performance, he would at least be ranked in fifth or sixth place!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1988

"Oh, no wonder!" Leon finally understood after Oliver's explanation, but could not help feeling his heart sink at the realization that Poisonwielder would be an even harder opponent to defeat than Asmodeus!

He crossed paths with Asmodeus once before and thus already knew just how ruthless a criminal could be. Considering that Poisonwielder was even more powerful than Asmodeus, one could safely assume that defeating him would be significantly harder, especially since Leon was only at the Advanced Emperor State.

However, on second thought, Leon realized that since the Dragon Corps managed to track Poisonwielder down, they would surely send plenty of martial artists to go after him, and this responsibility would not fall onto his shoulders.

After all, he was a non-staff personnel, and tasks like this were not a part of his job scope.

However, before he could even finish this thought, what Oliver said next made his jaw drop.

"Sir, Mister Glasbey heard that you wanted to gain contribution points for killing the criminals on the list, and so he's going to send you to the Western region to track down Poisonwielder. I'm here just to inform you of this change," Oliver said.

"What?" Leon's eyes almost bulged out of his head. He thought that he would not have to shoulder the burden of tracking down Poisonwielder, but now, it turned out that Alfred decided to entrust this task to him!

This was a shocking discovery, no doubt!

"Um, can I choose not to go?" Leon let out a sheepish grin. His first instinct was to turn down this mission.

Although he had plenty of secret weapons and was not at all afraid of Poisonwielder, he was still an Almighty Warrior, and certainly would not be an easy opponent!

As many secret weapons as he possessed, he was not too confident that he could take down Poisonwielder by himself!

Besides, he already got his hands on the Angel's Fruit now, and thus he no longer needed to put himself in danger to take down criminals in exchange for contribution points!

Therefore, it would be better if Alfred handed the task over to other members of the Dragon Corps instead!

"You don't want to go? Sir, are you joking?" Oliver was a little shocked to hear this.

The Dragon Corps were a specialized organization that belonged to the government, and nobody ever turned down Mister Glasbey's orders.

Mister Glasbey was the highest-in-command of the Southern region branch of Dragon Corps, and his orders were like the holy grail; no one ever dared to disobey them, no matter if they were a Golden Dragon Guard or a Platinum Dragon Guard.

Leon was the first one to ever attempt such a feat!

Besides, from what he knew, Leon was an exceptionally high -ranking Platinum Dragon Guard.

All the Platinum Dragon Guards attained at least the Almighty State, which meant that they were more powerful than Poisonwielder. Therefore, Oliver could not understand why Leon did not want to take on this task.

"Never mind, you can think of it as if I'm joking, but I'll call Mister Glasbey right now and talk to him directly!" Leon replied after some thought. Although he was indeed a Platinum Dragon Guard, he was not powerful enough to defeat Poisonwielder. However, there was no point in explaining this to Oliver. It was better to just phone Alfred directly and ask him to send someone else!

Talking to Alfred directly would also save him trouble, should something else happen and his message failed to get across to Alfred.

With that, Leon took out his phone and dialed Alfred's number.

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1989

"Hello, Leon. What's up?" Alfred's chirrupy voice rang out from the other end of the line.

"Mister Glasbey, I want to talk to you about something. I got into some trouble with the Hiltons this time," Leon then explained everything that happened to Alfred.

After all, Oliver used Alfred's name to scare Devon into handing Joel over for interrogation and to prevent Devon from stirring up trouble, Leon was obliged to notify Alfred about this beforehand.

Alfred fell silent upon hearing this.

"What's wrong, Mister Glasbey? Why aren't you saying anything?" Leon asked dubiously.

"I can't believe you! You arrested Rodney Spears for no reason just a few weeks ago, and now you've done the same with Joel Hiltons! You can't just arrest people without concrete evidence of their wrongdoings like this! You're getting more and more daring, and I don't mean this in a good way!" Alfred snapped rather indignantly.

The Dragon Corps were responsible for maintaining peace and rarely got involved in personal feuds between martial artists.

Rodney was the son of the Southern Boss, whereas Joel was the heir to the Hiltons-these two undoubtedly had powerful forces on their side and were not people to be

messed with. However, Leon managed to cross them within two months of his arrival in this city and even got the Dragon Corps involved in this!

Alfred could not help feeling rather annoyed at this.

"Well, Mister Glasbey, that's precisely the reason why I decided to keep them in captivity for a few days! If I had proof of their wrongdoings, they wouldn't even have gotten away with just a few days in a holding cell!" Leon replied earnestly.

"You-never mind! I can't be bothered to argue with you!

Just promise me you'll stop doing this again!" Alfred had no choice but to relent. The Dragon Corps was a specialized government body in charge of maintaining peace and order, and naturally, possessed a power that overrode even those of the ancient martial arts families!

As a Platinum Dragon Guard, Leon did indeed have the right to keep Rodney and Joel in captivity for a few days, and thus he did not want to inflict any blame on Leon for doing so.

He scolded Leon in hopes that Leon would learn to tone this attitude down, lest he gets into trouble with other ancient families in the future!

Getting tangled into feuds was not something that worked in either Leon's or the Dragon Corps' favor!

"Alright, I promise I will," Leon replied obediently.

"Also, has Oliver told you about Poisonwielder? The Western region branch has tracked him down and reached out to us for backup. They're hoping we can send some troops over to help them bring him down, and I intend to send you over there with a team," Alfred changed the subject.

The Southern and Western regions were neighbors, and coincidentally, Poisonwielder's hiding place was located close to their border. Besides, the Western region branch of the Dragon Corps only managed to track down Poisonwielder's whereabouts, whereas his exact location was still unknown. Therefore, they needed more backup to carry out this mission!

This was why they reached out to Alfred for assistance!

"I'm afraid I have to say no! Mister Glasbey, you know better than anyone that I haven't even attained the Almighty State. I truly have no confidence leading a team to track down and defeat Poisonwielder," Leon said rather hesitantly.

The only reason Alfred made him a Platinum Dragon Guard was on behalf of Master Haslewood, and the truth was, he could not yet shoulder this responsibility!

Leon was not particularly scared of Poisonwielder, nor was he worried about dying a horrible death at the hands of this notorious criminal. On the contrary, he was concerned that should Poisonwielder escape from right under his nose, it would ruin the Dragon Corps' plans!

The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 1990

"That's okay! Don’t worry, Leon, I'm not sending you out alone! I'll also assign a Platinum Dragon Guard, who is also an Almighty Warrior, and a few other Golden Dragon Guards to go with you! With so many people, as well as the representatives from the Western region branch, I'm sure that killing Poisonwielder will be as easy as ABC!" Alfred replied, chuckling.

"Oh, okay!" Leon finally understood. "Well, since that's your plan, why aren't you going to send out two Platinum Dragon Guards instead? Why do you insist on letting me go?" he asked quizzically.

Since Poisonwielder was at the Initial Almighty State, it would make more sense to send out two Platinum Dragon Guards that were more powerful than him. With the help of the Western region branch representatives, killing Poisonwielder would be significantly easier!

However, Alfred was choosing to go the riskier route and sent Leon out instead!

Leon could not help wondering why Alfred chose to do so when there was a better option!

"Well, even though Poisonwielder is an Almighty Warrior, he's also a master of poisons and volatile gases! He has something called the Reaper's Breath, which was a colorless, odorless gas that is capable of rendering its victims utterly powerless upon inhalation," Alfred explained.

"I heard that your medical expertise is unsurpassable, and plenty of people even know you as a master alchemist.

Considering that your knowledge of poisons might be useful, I decided you'd be the best candidate to carry out this mission," Alfred added.

People all over the Southern region already came to know of Leon's medical expertise ever since Joel's attempt to sabotage Elegante Group was foiled.

Although the Dragon Corps rarely got involved in personal feuds, they always kept up to date on the latest news and were thus familiar with recent events.

Besides, Leon was a high-ranking Platinum Dragon Guard, so of course the Dragon Corps would keep an even closer eye on him!

Therefore, Alfred long since knew of Leon's outstanding medical knowledge, and this was why he decided Leon was the best man for this job!

"I see!" Leon finally understood Alfred s intention.

He was familiar with the Reaper’s Breath-it was a specialized poison brewed from the leaves of five different poisonous plants, but was a little different from the Deadly Veratrum poison; the Deadly Veratrum was highly fatal, but the Reaper's Breath was a sedative poison-somewhat similar to the belladonna plant-that could render its victims weak and powerless within seconds of inhalation.

The only difference between the Reaper's Breath and the belladonna plant was that the latter required ingestion for

its poison to take effect, whereas the former existed in the form of volatile gas, which made it even more dangerous.

Anyone who caught so much as a whiff of the Reaper's Breath would suffer significant muscle weakness and even lose their powers, which rendered them absolutely defenseless!

"Although you haven't attained the Almighty State yet, Leon, I'm sure that with your knowledge, you'll be able to find a way to outsmart Poisonwielder and find an antidote to the Reaper's Breath! There's no one else more suited for this job! " Alfred declared solemnly.
