Ch. 161..165: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 161-165
Chapter 161: Chapter 161 – Devin slaps Zayla again
"You dare to slap me?"
Zayla was so shocked that the words struggled to come out of her mouth. She began to feel like she needed to go to the hospital to get checked.
Sabrina’s slap was not as strong as that of Robin but because she had still not recovered from the pain, it was unbearable.
"You tried to attack me and I defended myself. Are you not mindful of your pregnancy before trying to get aggressive? If you don’t, then I do and I will do anything to protect my unborn child," Sabrina said seriously, Zayla still found it hard to recover from the shock.
She never thought that Sabrina had it in her to get physical. "You just wait. Wait until I tell Robin that you slapped his pregnant fiancé. I will make sure that he ends all his business collaborations with you," Zayla said pitifully, Sabrina chuckled,
"Don’t be stupid, Zayla. When you were the side chick, all you saw was his good side but now that you are co-habiting, I believe that he treats you worse than he did not me."
She saw the light in Zayla’s eyes dim and said again, "You want to tell him, call him on the phone if you wish and let him give me my punishment. After all, I’m equally carrying his child."
Sabrina was too sure that things were not going well between Zayla and Robin, for which reason she had to come here to fight for the villa herself; if not, Robin would have been the one negotiating with her.
"That’s not true. He loves me and I love him so stay away from him," Zayla warned through tears but seeing this side of Zayla, Sabrina was grossly happy.
It was nice for Zayla to feel every single ounce of pain Sabrina felt in her life before. Zayla destroyed Sabrina’s dream and Sabrina could only blame herself for it.
"How can I stay away when I was the one who loved him first? You knew nothing about Robin until I told you about him but you went behind my back and took him.
You think I didn’t know?" she asked upon seeing the shocked expression on Zayla’s face.
It was so bad, Sabrina continued to say, "At the same time I wanted to go and tell Robin the way I felt about him like you advised me to, you were already there in his arms and I decided to keep it to myself."
Zayla scoffed at her confession and hissed, "It was not as if he loved you anyway."
Sabrina saw that though Zayla Spoke with confidence, there was still fear in her eyes which she wanted to add to, thereby saying,
"Now you have him and yet, he is always with me. I gave up on him because I don’t love him anymore but he is always here, ready to do everything I want So, what are you going to do about it, Zayla?"
Zayla knew that Sabrina was not lying and it ached her heart. She thought that Sabrina was the reason for Robin’s anger this morning but it did not seem so and she was beginning to wonder why.
It settled in her heart that she could not win against Sabrina so she requested for the only thing she wanted the most.
"I want the villa."
Sabrina scoffed, feeling good that she already gave it out but still used it to anger Zayla as if the villa was still hers.
"And you will never get it."
Sabrina succeeded in resurrecting Zayla’s demons and she spat coldly,
"Sabrina, you are such a shameless bitch. Not only are you chasing after your ex-husband who doesn’t want you but you are also keeping the villa when you claim that you want nothing from him."
She was trying to get Sabrina upset but then again, it did not seem to be working because nothing she said or did was able to get Sabrina upset or angry.
"Hahaha, Zayla. I will not give you the villa and I will also not let him go so what are you going to do about it?" Sabrina asked mockingly.
She intentionally added the last part to infuriate her more and continued to say,
"Robin likes the side chicks better and now; his ex-wife happens to be his side chick. He gives me all the attention I never got when I was married to him. He does my every bidding and command so, what are you gonna do about it?" Sabrina asked mockingly again, Zayla was losing her mind.
Sabrina got the villa and still had her ex-husband wrapped around her fingers. Worst of all, she was not ready to let go of either of them.
Sabrina was studying her every move since Zayla had tried an attack before and getting her this angry, she was sure that the bitch might try something funny again.
As expected, Zayla thought she was not watching and pounced towards her on the chair, targeting her stomach but she quickly stood up from the chair and Zayla fell at where Sabrina sat, face down.
Sabrina grabbed hold of Zayla’s hair and slapped her hard again on the same spot, trying to leave enough marks and swelling for her to take home to Robin. How dare Zayla come to her office to tell her nonsense?
"I have been meaning to do this and you just brought yourself," she said and pushed her towards the door, it opened at the instant and Devin walked when Zayla bumped into him.
Before she fell on the floor, he grabbed and slapped her again, Zayla felt like fainting. After receiving four Slaps from three different people on the same cheek, it was now red, swollen, and unbearably painful.
"What do you want here bitch?" Devin demanded, his gaze dark, and his voice cold.
Sabrina was glad he came because she was beginning to feel tired for herself, and sorry for the baby in Zayla’s womb but she had no regrets as she said mockingly,
"She wants the villa."
Chapter 162: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 162 - keep your pet in your house
Zayla had endured so much already so she did not want to be slapped again. Devin and Robin’s slaps were too painful, Zayla was already dizzy when Devin lifted his hand again.
She quickly went on her knees, not caring about her dignity, except for a way to escape this hell she brought upon herself.
"Please let me go. I don’t want the villa anymore."
She was afraid she might die before Devin would let her go. This was the lion’s den and Zayla wanted to escape from it.
Devin was not so kind and did not want to let her off like that. He was about to slap her again when Sabrina recalled something and said,
"Please leave her alone, Devin. I don’t want Robin to die of depression when she loses their child. I already gave her two slaps and don’t forget she’s pregnant with Robin’s child."
Only then did Devin lower his hands and glared at her coldly, "Get out before I lose my temper."
It might be Zayla’s fault but if something happened to the child, Robin might indeed cause trouble for Devin.
Zayla ran out of the office the moment she gathered a little bit of momentum, for her dear life. Who knew that Sabrina would be so savage and her brother would also come? She never expected this and regretted ever coming over.
She momentarily forgot about her father when she began to run with her tail between her legs.
"So, what brings you here?" Sabrina sat back in her chair and asked Devin while laughing at the way Zayla ran out of the door.
Sabrina didn’t think she would ever find the courage to ever come there again.
"Your secretary called me when Zayla came here. I told her to inform me anytime she found out anything suspicious," Devin said truthfully, but felt there was no need to have come since Sabrina had already dealt with Zayla.
Devin was proud of her strength that not even pregnancy could make her weak but Sabrina felt grateful for the fact that her brother was still overly protective as ever and even if Zayla had overpowered her, help would have arrived on time.
"So, you left the office after Zayla got here? That was a fast one."
Devin smiled and explained further, "I had to cross some red lights but yes, and I will pay some fines but it’s still okay. I won’t be able to forgive myself if anything happens to you."
Sabrina felt a swelling in her heart for the love her brother showed her. "Thank you very much, Devin, I love you."
"I love you more and I will leave now. Take good care of yourself."
***
At Robin’s office, he watched everything unfold and frowned a little at the end, not satisfied with the way Zayla was let go.
He wanted her beaten more than that but had to settle for the fact that Sabrina did not know that Zayla was not pregnant.
In a way, it increased the love he never knew existed in his heart for Sabrina. Even when she knew that Zayla was an enemy, she still showed her mercy because she thought Zayla was pregnant.
A bad woman would have even taken advantage to cause her a miscarriage but then, Sabrina thought about how Robin would feel. He knew that she did not love him anymore but was happy that she cared.
The pregnancy part was a mystery Robin was yet to announce to the world but for now, he knew that Zayla would get into another trouble and focused on his work.
Surprisingly, he received a call from Sabrina.
"Sabrina, are you okay?" Robin’s voice was as soft as a feather and Sabrina rolled her eyes at the end of the line.
She wasted no time with formalities, saying directly,
"Robin, please keep your pet in your house, under lock and key before I kill her."
Robin pretended like he did not know what she was talking about, thereby asking, "Sabrina, please speak in plain terms. What is the problem?"
Sabrina took a deep breath and said, "Zayla came to my office asking for the villa. She annoyed me so I slapped her twice and Devin slapped her once. If you can’t come and pick me up tonight because you have to take her to the hospital, that is okay by me."
"You mean Zayla came to your office to demand the villa? Then you had any right to deal with her. She would be fine."
Sabrina froze from the end of the line at the hearing of Robin’s words. It sounded so strange that she wondered if Robin’s phone was hacked and she was talking to a different person.
"Robin, are you the one talking or is there somebody else?" She asked seriously, recalling how Robin was so protective of Zayla.
He even chose Zayla over her for which reason she had to go.
"It’s me, Sabrina, what else do you want me to say?" Robin asked helplessly. He already knew the reason why she doubted it and wished to tell her what he knew but this was not the right time. He had to find ways to win back her heart first.
"I will see you later," Sabrina said and Robin knew she was going to end the call. He quickly said,
"Dear one, do you need anything else? Please feel free to tell me."
"No. I’m fine and I will hang up now," Sabrina quickly said. That name he suddenly began calling her was equally strange and she could not understand exactly what was happening to him.
As Robin got back to work, it was not long before his phone began to ring. Again it was Zayla, his expression turned cold but he did not answer it.
The only reason why he used to answer her calls quickly was because he thought she was with child for him but not anymore.
He was just certain that Zayla must have gotten into trouble again.
Chapter 163: Chapter 163 – Zayla’s shame
When Zayla ran out of the office, she did not expect to bump into her best friend at the car park, right before entering the car Robin assigned to her.
With her burning face, she did not want her best friend to see her like that, thereby pretending to not have seen her best friend Zeresh but the latter had already seen her and even advanced quickly towards her.
"Zayla, what happened to your face?" Zeresh asked with care since this was Robin’s fiancé. She feared for whoever did this to Zayla but when Zayla began to lie, Zeresh began to get suspicious.
"Zeresh, it was an accident. I have to go now."
Zayla was about to sit in the car when Zeresh held her arm and studied her face very well. "It doesn’t look so. Those are fingerprints. You should sue whoever did this to you."
The suggestion would have been a great one if Zayla had not been the one who went looking for trouble. She said honestly,
"I was the one who found the trouble so I can’t."
"You look terrible," Zeresh observed and said, Zayla was embarrassed.
"Yeah, I’ll cover it with makeup so what brings you here?" Zayla asked, wondering if her friend was working here or was looking for a job. She would rather Robin give her a job instead of working for Sabrina.
"Oh, my boyfriend found a gemstone but I don’t know what it is. I brought it here for them to help me with what it was and how much it might cost when sold."
The sound of gemstones was exciting to Zayla. It would not be hard for her to swap it since she needed a lot of money right now for her father.
"Your boyfriend? How many have you got?" She asked, remembering that the last time she paid Zeresh a surprise visit, there were two men in her room.
Zayla was a woman of one-night stands but stopped when she bumped into Robin again after so many years.
"Just one but he loves threesomes and since I started, I love it too. I know it’s not your thing," Zeresh shrugged. Zayla used the opportunity and asked her seriously,
"So, do you still have the stone?" Her palms were already itching to get a hold of it.
"I already sold it," Zeresh said to her disappointment before she continued to say, "It was confirmed to be a Jade, and the money was instantly wired into my boyfriend’s account. Isn’t this Sabrina’s company? I didn’t see her anyway but her workers are very competent."
Zeresh had no idea how her honesty made Zayla upset since she was complimenting Sabrina. Zayla hated for anything good to be said about anyone who was not her.
"Well, her father already got everything for her, for which reason it was easy for her to leave Robin," Zayla responded, sending the meaning that Sabrina was just enjoying her father’s sweat but her words got Zeresh even more curious since Zayla’s father had a company as well.
"But your father has a Company too. Why aren’t you managing it? Oh sorry, it went bankrupt," Zeresh recalled, answering her own question. Zayla was both ashamed and miserable.
"That’s because we are setting up another one," she lied but not feeling so since it could happen for as long as she laid her hands on the villa.
But then again, Robin told her last night that his money was theirs so she could just withdraw some to pay off her father’s investors.
At the thought, Zayla felt better. Whichever way, her best friend did not believe her, feeling that she was just bragging.
"Zayla, we are best friends. No need to lie to me. The news about the investors after your father is everywhere and I’m surprised Robin isn’t helping. Is everything alright between you two?" She asked but Zayla felt embarrassed about what had happened this morning.
Still, she could not let her best friend know that. "Of course. This is even his car and driver. How can things be wrong between us?" She laughed awkwardly but Zeresh was still doubtful.
"Then you won’t mind buying me lunch, right?" Zeresh asked, expecting Zayla to refuse since she was just testing the truth in Zayla’s words but Zayla rather agreed.
"Lunch is nothing. Let’s go. Did you come with a car?"
Zeresh shook her head.
"My boyfriend hasn’t got a ride but with this money, I’m hoping that we’ll get one soon."
Zayla applied make-up to cover her swollen face when she sat in the car and was disappointed to have met her best friend too late. That gemstone would have done a lot for her but anyway, she still had Robin.
The friends arrived at the restaurant and since Zayla was the one paying, Zeresh did not show her mercy.
The restaurant was a costly one and both she and her best friend ordered the most expensive dishes while they continued chatting relentlessly.
When they were done, the waitress came with a bill totaling 2.1k. Zeresh felt guilty and said,
"It’s too much. Let’s split it."
Zayla wanted to prove that she was still in charge. She used the same card to pay for her mother’s food before so it was not a big deal.
"It’s okay. I have a card." She removed her black card and gave it to the waitress. The waitress returned and said,
"Sorry ma’am, card declined."
Zayla frowned imperceptibly, "That’s impossible. Robin’s card can never be declined. Swipe it again."
She planned to sue the waiter for causing her such an embarrassment or to let Robin deal with him but the waiter was already annoyed, saying,
"I did so ten times already. I have the POS terminal here." He swiped it again and explained further, "There are billions on the card but you are only allowed to use $100 a day."
Zayla felt her heavy makeup crack at the news from her deep frown due to the information received.
Something must be wrong somewhere and she had to let Robin handle this including suing the waiter.
"That’s not true. You would get fired for spreading such false information."
Zayla picked up her phone and dialed Robin’s number. Again, the man refused to answer the phone after Zayla had dialed over seven times and began sweating profusely. The waiter was now impatient,
"Ma’am, are you ready to pay cash?"
Chapter 164: Chapter 164 – Zayla fainted
"Pay up? But I don’t carry cash on me."
Zayla was almost in tears. She could not tell which was the bad luck. Going to Robin’s office, her father’s call, or going to Sabrina’s office to demand the villa.
It was sad the way her day turned out and she felt terrible about it.
"It’s alright Zayla, these things happen sometimes," Zeresh comforted her and said to the waiter, "Here, use this card."
The waiter swiped the card and nodded his head. "Your receipt ma’am."
He glanced at Zayla with disgust before leaving the table. Zayla never faced such embarrassment in her life and she would have cried if not for the fact that she wanted to put on a strong face in front of her best friend.
"Where are you going now?" Zayla asked Zeresh when they reached the car. "I will send the money to you later. This is supposed to be my treat."
Zeresh forced a smile, wondering if Zayla was just stupid or if she was pretending. It was so glaring that something was wrong but Zayla, the one facing it, was not seeing it.
"I’m going to the apartment but forget the money. I didn’t have it before but I do now, and I don’t think my boyfriend would be upset that I used a few dollars from his card."
Hearing Zeresh, who was always stringent with money calling thousands a few dollars, Zayla was quite curious in knowing how much in total she got for the sale of the Jade.
"How much do you have on the card?"
Zeresh did not see anything wrong in telling her since she already heard that Zayla had billions on her card. It was just strange that she could not use it.
"Due to the price given for the jade due to the weight, quality, and texture, I was paid 39 million for it."
"So much?"
Zayla’s eyes turned green with jealousy. Half of that money could help to pay off some of her father’s investors and she wondered why she had not met Zeresh before she sold the gemstone.
"The truth is, my boyfriend said it was given to him by his father from his grandfather. He didn’t want to sell it before but what other way would he be able to start a business?" Zeresh recounted sadly. Even she would have wanted them to keep it.
Zayla did not hide her shame upon realizing how rich her best friend turned out overnight.
"Ehmmm so can you lend me some money?"
Zeresh was shocked at the request, just as she saw a text message on her phone from her boyfriend and checked.
’Are you sure? I honestly didn’t think it was real. I thought my pa was exaggerating for which reason I told you to check the value. When you mentioned the amount. I still thought it was a prank and told you to sell it.’
Zeresh texted back, ’So should I return it?’
She was afraid since she already used part of the money. ’No. Come up with some business and investment ideas.’
Zeresh was relieved and texted back, ’ok.’
Then she gave Zayla her attention and said, "Zayla, Robin has billions and you are asking for a loan?"
Zayla was embarrassed but was glad when her phone began ringing. Sadly, it was her father so she did not answer immediately. Forcing a smile, she responded tactically,
"Well, Robin might just be busy now." She didn’t intend to pay Zeresh back for whatever amount she was going to request anyway.
"I would have loaned you any amount if the money was entirely mine but I have to ask my boyfriend and he would have to deduct all business expenses before knowing if he would be able to give out a loan."
It was her subtle way of saying, NO.
Zayla was disappointed but forced and smiled and said, "It’s alright. I will drop you off at the apartment."
When they sat back in the car, Zayla gave the direction of Zeresh’s apartment to the driver but to her surprise, he refused to adhere to it.
"Sorry ma’am but Mr. Jewel said to not take you anywhere without his permission. I have sent the location to him but have not received his approval yet."
Zayla was confused and asked him, "Since when did he tell you this?"
The driver did not know if it was right to tell her the exact time, thereby saying, "Please don’t overthink it ma’am boss is just concerned for the safety of the baby."
"Are you pregnant?" Zeresh asked but Zayla ignored her and said to the driver, "What about the bank, can you take me there?"
The driver felt it would not be wrong to take the madam to get money and responded, "I don’t think he would mind."
Zeresh sensed trouble and did not want to be a part of it so she said, "Zayla, I will take a cab."
Zayla did not refuse since Zeresh had not been much help anyways. "Okay. I will see you later."
Zayla texted her father to meet her at the bank. Before she reached there, her father was already there when she alighted from the car.
"Dad, you got here fast."
"Because I knew you would come. How about we take 5 million this time?" Her father asked, ready to run away because of the investors.
"I was thinking of 10, to pay off most of the investors."
"Good," her father smiled when he still did not intend to pay the investors. As soon as he gets the money, Zayla would not be able to tell him what to do with it.
After Zayla filled in the transaction form, she waited for over an hour without anyone attending to her. Feeling it was because of the amount, she was relaxed.
That money was huge but not for a card with billions.
When the wait got out of hand, she yelled, "Why isn’t anyone talking to me?"
The bank manager approached her quickly and said, "Sorry ma’am, Mr. Jewel has not given us his approval. His secretary said he is in a meeting."
Zayla was furious, already thinking about telling Robin to fire this Bank manager. "But I’m allowed to take money without his approval."
"I’m sorry ma’am, that has been changed. He sent a formal email disallowing any cash transaction without his authorization," the manager said politely,
Zayla fainted.
Chapter 165: Chapter 165 – What if I let Zayla go? Will you come back to me?
At Robin’s office, he was rounding up to go and pick up Sabrina from work when his phone rang. Seeing Zayla’s father’s name, he did not answer the phone.
He had already seen numerous calls from the driver and Zayla herself but ignored them all.
His silence meant NO and the driver knew it since he already texted wherever he was taking Zayla to Robin.
Robin had also received emails, text messages, and calls from the bank to approve a ten million transaction.
He laughed bitterly, not surprised that Zayla was trying to pay off her father’s former investors with his hard-earned money.
He was glad that Zayla’s first opportunity was half a million. If that had not happened, how would he have prevented her from taking this much? Robin wanted to embarrass her to the world before proceeding with his final revenge plan.
When he was about to set off, a text message dropped on his phone. Thinking it was Sabrina since her closing time was just twenty minutes away and it would take him fifteen to get there, he checked it only to see,
’Zayla fainted at the bank.’
The message was from Kennedy. Robin was not moved to honor it with any response, amused by the fact that Zayla fainted because she had the money but could not touch it.
Well, nobody messes with Robin and he was just getting started. Destroying Zayla was not hard but his greatest challenge was in how to get his ex-wife back.
He stepped out of his office and told Aria, "You can leave when you are done. Great job you did there."
He was talking about the inner room she transformed into a cozy bedroom. It had no reminders of what he used to do in there before and now felt like his peaceful bedroom, but just smaller.
Robin regretted so many things including his relationship with his father before the old man died. Some damages were irreparable but for those he had the power to correct, he was going to do so.
It was such a shame that even with all his money, he only found his peace in such a small four-corner room.
"Thank you," Aria smiled. It wasn’t easy to get complimented like this by her boss so indeed, her head was swollen with pride. "But sir, why the changes?" she asked curiously.
Robin smiled bitterly, "you won’t understand, Aria," he said and walked away.
Robin got into his car and silenced his phone since it was now past business hours. Sabrina was still rounding up so he went in and sat on a visitor’s chair in her office without disturbing her.
Sabrina was uncomfortable with his gaze on her, thereby saying,
"You shouldn’t be looking at your ex-wife like that."
She did not even glance at him while she spoke but Robin realized that every time he saw her, she looked more and more beautiful. He smiled.
"Is there any other way to look at my wife?"
Sabrina paused and looked at him. Then she went back to doing what she was doing before. Maybe it was just a slip of the tongue because even when they were married, Robin never called her his wife.
He would only call her by her name and he said once to his father when they were both in his study that he would never call her his wife because he felt ashamed of her.
No one knew Sabrina had heard those words because she was taking coffee to her father-in-law by then, not knowing that Robin had returned from work.
He called her a desperate woman who would marry a man who was in love with another.
The remembrance of it got into Sabrina and her expression turned cold.
"Dear one, would you go on a date with me if I asked?"
Sabrina paused her actions again and this time, her voice equally lacked radiance,
"Robin, you never went on a date with your wife before and now you are asking your ex-wife?"
"It’s to improve our relationship," Robin said cunningly but Sabrina resumed whatever she was doing on her laptop and responded,
"Our relationship is fine like this. No need for improvement."
Robin knew it was going to be hard but when she turned cold like this, he felt helpless since he did not know how to woo a woman, much less the one he had hurt before.
"Sabrina, I miss you."
Sabrina paused her actions and began to massage her temple, feeling like she was having a bad headache.
"Robin, please stop. I’m begging you to not ruin my mood."
"And I’m begging you to consider going on a date with me," Robin insisted but in a polite tone to not upset her further.
He knew he had to start from somewhere but did not intend to stop even if she rained bitter words on him.
"Please go with Zayla or is it because of how her face turned bad from the slaps?" Sabrina asked mockingly, Robin chuckled.
If he tells her about his findings concerning Zayla now, it would only worsen matters.
"Sabrina, can you please forget Zayla when we talk?" His voice was indeed pleading but Sabrina was not moved. She was also angry.
"No, I can’t. She is the reason why we got to this stage. The reason why you divorced me. You were waiting for it for a long time and when I proposed it, it wasn’t difficult for you to accept it."
Robin felt ashamed because, throughout their marriage, he held Sabrina responsible for the reason why he did not marry Zayla, due to the most outrageous reason he just discovered was a scam.
"I was stupid and I’m sorry."
Robin never apologized for anything throughout their three years of marriage but when he did now, it did not move Sabrina. She spoke indifferently,
"I forgave you a long time ago but you already have a woman in your life," Sabrina said bitterly, Robin smiled and asked,
"What if I let Zayla go? Will you come back to me?"
