Ch. 166..170: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 166-170
Chapter 166: Chapter 166 - I recorded your words, dear one.
Sabrina was not going to think about it or even consider that option.
There were no sweet moments in her marriage to Robin. Even when he had sex with her, it was as if it was a punishment or rather, just for the fact that he wanted a child.
It was only during their last sex before she left that villa that Sabrina saw the passion in the way he did it.
Robin gave her nothing to hold on to or entice her to continue with the marriage.
"Never."
The hope in Robin’s eyes died. From the way Sabrina accommodated him from time to time and only complained about Zayla, he thought that removing Zayla from the way would help to heal the wound in her heart but there was nothing like that anymore.
Sabrina was not ready to consider marriage with him but then again, he felt that he hadn’t done enough to win her trust and love back.
He also felt it was too early to beg her to return to him, for which reason she refused. Ah, what was he thinking?
He was smart in business but so dumb in love. At the thought, he rephrase the question,
"What about a date? If I let her go, will you go on a date with me?"
Sabrina began to think about his question now. There was nothing wrong with a date since there was no commitment but Robin was not someone she wanted to go on a date with.
However, she would love to see how Zayla would indeed survive without Robin. Sabrina was almost certain that he would never be able to let Zayla go since she was carrying his child for which reason she adhered to the challenge.
"Robin, if you let her go, I will go on two special dates with you," she said seriously, not knowing that Robin had tricked her since Zayla was already close to her grave.
Robin played back her words on his phone.
"I recorded your words, dear one. Please don’t go back when the time comes," Robin smiled and said, glad that his trick worked perfectly, then he asked, "I hope you know your birthday is a month ahead?"
Sabrina was shocked. Robin never took notice of such things which he always called trivial. He never even remembered his birthday and never had a birthday party for as long as Sabrina knew him.
"You, remember my birthday?"
Robin smiled and said, "I intend to have a party for you and as my children’s mother, you have no right to refuse."
Sabrina was annoyed with his use of children when she was going to have just one child and was quite amused by his resolve to have a party for her, taunting,
"Where will you keep Zayla when you throw this party for your ex-wife?"
Robin smiled calmly and responded, "Don’t worry. At your birthday party, I will tell you the truth about my relationship with Zayla."
Sabrina frowned instantly. She had finished what she was doing but had not told him because of this conversation.
"I see you just want to embarrass me on my birthday."
Robin shook his head, not surprised that she thought that way. "I will never do that to you, dear one, please don’t forget that you made me a promise."
Sabrina yawned a little and responded, "You know that I don’t go back on my words."
Robin was just staring at her with such esteem, wishing that he could hold her in his arms. "Good. Then I will send the outfit for our date."
"Robin?"
Sabrina was getting uncomfortable with whatever Robin was planning to do but Robin was rather amused by her sentiment, saying,
"Come on, dear one, can’t you see when a man has changed?"
Sabina shook her head. The only reason he might change was because of the child he was expecting from her but after that, she doubted that Robin genuinely cared for her.
"I think I’m ready now. We should go."
Robin did not want to separate from her. He enjoyed their time together and wanted it to last for which reason he said,
"I will take your father’s offer to have dinner at your house."
"That’s between you and him," Sabrina responded in annoyance. She hated the idea but had to accept it because her father had already approved it.
Surprisingly, Robin did not disturb her with any talk in the car and they rode in queitness. Reaching the villa and without the presence of Devin, everything was serene.
Matilda had moved back to the penthouse so it was just Lizzy and Cobby at the dining table with no Devin, which made the atmosphere lively.
Cobby was already welcoming of Robin and due to Lizzy’s relationship with Daniel, she was equally warm. Robin was comfortable since Zayla was partly out of his life and his feelings were also clear.
"Robin, how are you now?" Cobby asked with interest since he kept looking at Sabrina as if he was seeing her for the first time.
"Very well Dad," Robin responded, not eating much and just watching Sabrina and taking secret pictures of her.
"I heard that you fainted?" Cobby asked with care and not to embarrass him but Robin could still not help being embarrassed about it.
"It was nothing, as you can see," he lowered his gaze when Sabrina lifted her head. He couldn’t let her know that he has been watching her.
"I hope so. You know that you are always welcome here and I must say that your chef is quite good,"
Cobby wiped his mouth and sipped a glass of water. His actions were just as elegant as that of Robin.
"Thank you, Dad, I don’t mind having dinner here every day," Robin quickly took the offer as an opportunity to stay longer with Sabrina.
"No one would stop you," Cobby gave his confirmation and Robin smiled.
Throughout their meals and conversation, he never took his eyes off Sabrina and when it was time to leave, he felt reluctant to do so but left in the end.
By the time Robin reached the car park of his office, Ken dropped from a cab since taxis were not allowed and matched him.
"Robin Jewel, you have become too proud in your shoes."
Chapter 167: Chapter 167 – you don’t have a choice
"Robin Jewel, you have become too proud in your shoes," Kennedy Chance yelled at the car park.
Luckily, most of the staff had left with only security around.
Robin raged and his eyes darkened cruelly, he slapped Kennedy with all his strength, and the elderly man stumbled back before he lost his balance and fell from the shock.
Before he could recover, another slap heated up the same side of his cheek, and he felt his whole face burning with pain.
Lifting his head, fear covered his face at the look on Robin’s face. It was so deadly, the next time Kennedy rose to his feet again, there was a huge gap between them before he spoke.
"Robin, have you lost my mind?"
Kennedy never felt so disrespected in his life and not by a young man like Robin who was young enough to be his son. It was just like being slapped by his daughter.
Ah, power was indeed a proud fuel that made young men like Robin lose their manners. Robin raged, the fact that this man here poisoned his mother got him mad.
Disrespecting him was nothing compared to what Robin had in store for him and his daughter.
"No. You lost yours. I see where your daughter got her ill manners from," Robin pointed out in anger.
Indeed, Zayla had spoken to him in the same manner earlier, which confirmed the saying that like a father like a son but in this case, it was a daughter.
"You slapped my daughter too?"
Kennedy was surprised that Zayla had not mentioned it. He could not believe that his daughter was being abused but kept enduring it because of her stupid love for Robin.
"I thought it was the reason why you are here," Robin said coldly.
Whatever had to be done, he wanted to ensure that it was done right here and now. He was not going to let the useless man into his office.
"Robin, I’m going to press charges against you," Kennedy threatened and Robin laughed menacingly.
"What are you waiting for?"
Kennedy was in a stupor. He knew that Robin had a point. Financially, there was no way he could stand against Robin.
When Zayla collapsed at the bank, he had to call Mara and beg her to send him some money for his rounds since he could not use the card.
All his calls to Robin went unanswered and he was not sorry about it.
"How can you be so cruel? Your pregnant fiancé fainted and you are not there for her."
He felt that perhaps Robin had not read the messages he sent for which reason he thought to say it again but when he saw no remorse in Robin’s eyes, he lost all hope.
Robin did not try to filter the words he threw at Kennedy for one bit.
"Aren’t you her father? You have a lot more time on your hands than me so why should I be the one to take care of her?"
Robin was so rude, and Kennedy was so embarrassed and ashamed to be addressed that way by Robin, all because he was broke.
"Robin, I have seen that you don’t care about my daughter so I’m taking her with me and I will abort your child in her womb."
If Robin has forgotten that Zayla was carrying his child, then Kennedy would just have to remind him. Robin pretended to not about their fake pregnancy plot and said,
"Go ahead and I will have you answer in court. Mind you, if you abort it and try to run away, this city would be too small for the two of us."
If Kennedy understood his words, then it meant he was not supposed to leave New York City but as stubborn as he was, how could he oblige?
"Robin, if you don’t want my daughter again, then why do you have to keep her as a prisoner in your house?"
Kennedy asked seriously since Robin had not even asked about Zayla’s condition.
Everything about Robin chilled the moment he laid eyes on Kennedy, for which reason he responded,
"She is carrying my child so whatever I do with her is not your business. Make sure she gets to the penthouse before I get back or it won’t be good for either of you," Robin said and began to walk away when Kennedy yelled after him again,
"I see the reason why Sabrina was quick to divorce you. I should have known what a monster you are."
Mentioning Sabrina’s divorce was the only thing that caught Robin’s attention from all of Ken’s words because of how Robin regretted it.
Turning back the hands of time was an impossible task but he was going to do his best to make it up to her.
As for Kennedy and his daughter, Robin did not intend to use poison but would give them a painful life for which reason they would beg death to take them.
"Even as a monster, I don’t have debtors disturbing my life. You should look at yourself well before opening your useless mouth again," Robin said rudely, Ken turned ashen.
Robin has always been proud but he at least showed Kennedy some respect because of Zayla so what suddenly happened? The more Kennedy tried to understand, the greater his confusion.
"Robin!"
"Get the fuck out of my life and make sure that you don’t try to do the things you said or else, hell would break loose," Robin shut him up and walked into the elevator.
Kennedy was numb, wondering what had gotten into Robin. He turned around but the cab driver had left and he regretted paying him so early. Now, he had to walk a long distance to get another one.
After trekking out of Robin’s office tower and finally getting a cab after an hour, Kennedy reached the hospital and asked the doctor to discharge Zayla.
Zayla was too weak and ashamed for which reason she did not argue but the moment they reached the entrance of the hospital, Zayla’s driver blocked their path.
"Mr. Jewel said I should take her to the penthouse."
Kennedy shook his head and said, "No."
The driver stared him in the eyes and said, "You don’t have a choice."
At that moment, a strange hunky man joined the driver, and both Zayla and Kennedy were gripped with fear.
Chapter 168: Chapter 168 – Saving up for their unborn child
Kennedy could not allow himself and his daughter to be bullied by Robin’s driver and thug. Not after Robin refused to see Zayla at the hospital, did not pay her bills, and now refused to let him take his daughter away.
Not forgetting the part where Robin slapped him twice and he was still yet to recover from the pain of the slap.
"I don’t have a choice?" Kennedy was furious. "She is my daughter so I have every right to keep her with me. As you can see, she’s still not well and I have to take her home to take care of her."
He was beginning to feel suspicious of if Robin had found out anything for his behavior to change like this.
However, knowing the type of person Robin was, would he have still insisted on keeping Zayla in the penthouse if he knew that she was not the one who saved his life?
Or did he find out that Zayla was not pregnant? That was equally impossible since they had authentic medical reports.
"Our instruction is to make sure that she returns to the penthouse," the hunky man said. He was the new spy Daniel had planted around Zayla per Robin’s instruction.
He has been watching her from afar and as soon as the driver alerted him, he quickly came over to help.
"Alright, we shall go to the penthouse together," Kennedy said but the driver refused.
"Sorry sir, our instruction is to bring madam and not you."
Kennedy was now lost about everything unfolding right in front of him. He would have wanted to live with Zayla for a few days in the penthouse to see the kind of treatment given to her but now, that was also not allowed.
"Then I won’t allow it," he outrightly refused.
"I can as well carry her or use force," the hunky man said and Kennedy was scared, knowing there was no way he could win a fight against such a person. He could feel that something was not right but as to what, he just could not tell.
"I want to see Robin."
"You can see him in the office tomorrow but for now, Miss Chance is carrying his child and has to be with him at the penthouse," the driver said, not knowing that Robin was not at the penthouse.
Usually, he was always there around this time for which reason he thought so. Kennedy was still reluctant but Zayla still wanted to be close to Robin.
She had a feeling that something was wrong and they had to talk about it since the memories of last night were still fresh on her mind.
"Dad, it’s alright. Robin would not hurt me. I will be fine."
Her subtle words got her father upset and he yelled at her, "Shut up until I tell you to talk. Did you tell me when he slapped you?" Kennedy was so upset, his countenance scared his daughter to bits.
"That was my fault. I should go with them. I will talk to you later."
Zayla left with the driver before her father could object. When she reached the penthouse, she was disappointed that Robin was not there.
She had her supper and decided to wait. After hours of unfruitful wait, she ended up dozing on the couch but when she woke up in the morning, it was past 8 am and there was still no sign of Robin.
She was also surprised that the maids had not come yet. Then again, the chef had also not made breakfast. This was something she never did before but for the first time, she went to knock on the chef’s door several times but there was still no response.
Mustering her courage, she turned the knob and was met with darkness. Switching on the light, the room was empty.
Zayla was shocked. She picked up her phone and decided to call Robin for some answers.
This time, he answered the phone. "What is it, Zayla?"
His voice was as cold as when they spoke yesterday and Zayla could still not comprehend what was happening and why this sudden change in Robin.
"Robin, the maids did not come today and the chef is also not here."
Zayla had grown up overnight and knew to not go about with her usual ’darling’ to address him and to also not beat around the bush.
"Yes. I told the cleaning company to not send any maids and I assigned the chef to work somewhere else."
Zayla’s heart dropped. If anything at all, Robin should have informed her first.
"Why, Robin?"
"Zayla, don’t you think we need to save money for our unborn child? If you love me the way you say, then your only way of showing it is by helping with the expenses and not by mouth," Robin replied in the same cold tone.
Why should he waste money on a living dead? Robin would not do that. Zayla was still lost in everything he was saying.
"Robin please, I don’t understand."
"What I mean is, you should make yourself useful by cooking and cleaning the penthouse. At least for the daily hundred dollars and lest I forget, if you don’t use the money in a day, it expires, which means it goes into savings for our unborn child."
He kept hitting on the part of the unborn child because he knew it wasn’t there. It was his way of playing on her conscience, which was working perfectly because Zayla was getting depressed.
"Robin, I’m pregnant and all these chores are too much for me."
Zayla could not say that she did not know how to do them, for which reason she put it that way but Robin was not moved to change his mind. Not when he was dealing with the daughter of the man who killed his mother.
She was not innocent of her father’s crimes since she destroyed his marriage and now she had to pay. Robin was sure that Sabrina would have told him about the pregnancy if he had not brought Zayla that night.
Also, she was the one who insisted on going or aborting the child which he now knew was because of the diamonds. If he had let her stay, she would have secretly searched the house and found them.
Moreover, the news about Sabrina’s pregnancy could have caused a change in him and saved his marriage since the baby was all he wanted.
Finally, with the change, his grandmother would have shown him the letter and he would have known that Sabrina saved his life and made it up to her while they were still married.
Zayla ruined his life and she had to pay with hers.
"Zayla, a pregnant woman needs exercise. It’s good for the baby."
"But..."
The line was already dead.
Robin had dropped Sabrina in the office but he was also supposed to pick her up later to the meeting with all investors.
Tomorrow, he had to take her for the review at the hospital as well.
He returned to the office to get some work done and after leaving a few instructions, he went back to Sabrina’s office.
By the time he reached there, Martin was sitting in front of Sabrina and both of them were laughing so hard, it got Robin annoyed.
Chapter 169: Chapter 169 – your ex-husband is still possessive of you
Martin had endured his times of absence from Sabrina and it wasn’t pleasing. He monitored her for a while and realizing that Robin was there every morning and evening, he had to think twice about what he planned to do.
Even Devin had not had time for him because he now had a woman in his life. Even if they still had time for each other like before, Martin was sure that he still could not tell all his plans to his best friend for which reason it was better this way.
Reviewing the document again, he knew that Sabrina would not sign it. She might also send it to her father to have a second review.
Pulling out his drawer, he picked a small bottle, opened it and took out a pill, wrapped it neatly in a paper before dropping it in his shirt pocket.
Today was a day for meeting with all investors for which he had a good reason to see her. He had monitored Robin for a while and knew when they dropped Sabrina and when he came back to pick her up.
He was not sure whether Robin would come to pick Sabrina up for the meeting since his presence was not directly needed because of the number of companies he used to invest in Sabrina’s company.
Only their CEOs were supposed to be there. When Martin knocked on the door and heard a faint response,
"Come in," his heart warmed and he began to doubt if he would be able to do as he had planned.
"Are you busy?" He asked from the doorway and hearing his voice, Sabrina’s eyes lit. "It’s a stupid question to ask when I know you are always busy."
He was surprised when Sabrina stood up, met him halfway, and hugged him. Martin’s resolve to do what he had planned broke and the envelope in his hand fell.
He hugged Sabrina back before he bent over and picked it up.
"Martin, it’s been a while and I’ve missed you," Sabrina said honestly, Martin felt guilty because his intentions at this moment were not pure.
"Have you?"
"I know that you won’t believe it but I do," Sabrina said.
She indeed missed him since he was the only one, she felt comfortable around aside from her brother. No matter how nice Robin was to her, she was still uncomfortable around him.
"I miss you every day, Sabrina, sadly, your ex-husband is still possessive of you," Martin pointed out and Sabrina smiled whiles saying,
"I know it’s just because of the baby in my womb. As soon as he gets it, my life will be better."
Martin was guiltier when he discerned her innocence. She even did not know that her ex-husband was secretly in love with her.
"Are you sure about that? He doesn’t look like he would give up."
The light in Sabrina’s eyes dimmed and she retorted, "Well, we are already divorced so how have you been? Did you find a girlfriend?" She asked jokingly and Martin laughed,
"Hahaha, Sabrina, you are so funny."
"I’m very serious," Sabrina led him to the visitor’s chair in front of her and sat on her swivel chair.
"What if I tell you that I’m still waiting for you?" Martin observed Sabrina and when he realized that she did not believe him, it ached his heart.
He kept the pill where his phone was and was about to remove it when he saw her cup of tea but she picked up and emptied the content so he relaxed and added,
"Anyway, how does he always come to see you when Zayla is also pregnant for him?"
Sabrina smiled at the recollection of Zayla. She wanted to call her secretary to get her some more tea first but also realized it was almost time to leave for the meeting.
"I don’t know but I dealt with her yesterday, I doubt she would recover."
"How?" Martin was interested, surprised that he hadn’t heard.
"Two slaps and Devin gave her one."
Martin was so shocked, his eyes almost popped out.
"Wow, I never knew you to be violent."
Sabrina shook her head. She was indeed not a violent person but Zayla was the one who found her trouble.
"You should see how she ran out of the office when Devin got here." Sabrina laughed at the recollection and Martin could not help laughing too.
"I wish..." he did not finish saying that he wished he had been there when Robin appeared at the doorway because Martin had forgotten to close the door.
"Martin Dane, what are you doing here?" Robin asked coldly.
Martin quickly stood up and hid the document. "We have an investor meeting. I thought to see her to discuss some business matters before the meeting."
He was polite to not offend Robin by aggravating his anger. If Robins sees this document, then all his plans now including the future ones would be ruined.
"I would like to hear it too," Robin said calmly.
"Not your business," Martin said and began to head to the door.
When Robin approached him, the envelope dropped and he quickly picked it up before running out of the door.
Robin felt suspicious of his actions but Sabrina only felt that Robin was bullying Martin because of their friendship.
"Robin, what is wrong with you?" Sabrina asked in annoyance. Warmth returned into Robin’s eyes and he asked her softly,
"What did he tell you?"
Their chat was about Zayla so how could Sabrina tell Robin?
"Nothing."
Robin did not believe her but thought to warm her.
"Sabrina, you have to be careful of him."
Sadly, his warning only got Sabrina upset and she yelled,
"You know what, the only person I need to be careful of is you."
Robin was about to explain but then again, thought against it. He knew the hurt he caused her so it would be difficult for her to ever trust him.
His countenance was miserable but his tone was soft and apologetic as he said,
"You are right. I’m sorry. Can we go now?"
Chapter 170: Chapter 170 – Robin, I got Mara’s hacker.
The drive to the hotel where the meeting was being held was in an awkward silence.
Robin decided to just check the CCTV in his office when he returns since Sabrina would not tell him whatever she was discussing with Martin.
He could not help but feel that Martin was up to something. If he had a sister like Mara and could perfectly hide her from the public’s eyes, then he was equally dangerous.
"I hope you are not coming with me," Sabrina said when he parked the car.
Robin smiled bitterly. It was understandable that she did not want him anywhere around her but it was still painful, especially realizing that it was all his fault, due to his desperation for a child.
He wondered how Zayla knew and used it against him but he was soon to find out.
"Sorry to disappoint you but I have every right to be there," Robin said politely, Sabrina was still uncomfortable and said,
"But you can decide not to come."
Her resilience to keep him away from her was something Robin understood but could not approve of, especially knowing that Martin would be there as well as other single CEOs.
"Don’t worry. I will not utter a word."
He thought that giving his support was one of the things that upset her but Sabrina was in to shock him.
"Uttering a word is not my problem. I just don’t want people to think that I have something to do with my ex-husband."
She said it as if his presence was some kind of disease but Robin took it politely.
He knew she was already upset because of Martin but had a feeling that one day, she would thank him for it.
For now, he would just do his best to not get in her way.
"I understand. Right after the elevator, you can go first and I will follow after two minutes."
Sabrina seemed satisfied with the suggestion. "That’s better."
Robin kept his word and as soon as they stepped out of the elevator, he went to the men’s washroom while Sabrina went ahead.
When he reached there, there was only one empty chair which was at the far end since each of the CEOs was in attendance, adding up to twelve of them at the long conference table.
The empty chair was right opposite Sabrina but Martin was sitting on Sabrina’s right-hand side which got Robin furious.
When Sabrina walked in alone, Martin was elated but seeing Robin now, his joy turned to sorry.
Robin walked right up to him and before uttering a word, Martin stood up and went to sit at the end with his gaze dark.
He thought that Robin would not come and after the meeting, he could ask to discuss a few things with Sabrina and drop the pill but again, Robin’s presence destroyed his plans.
Everyone had a bottle of water in front of them and that was what Martin wanted to use but again, his plans failed.
Sabrina felt awkward since once again, she was the only woman even though other investors outside from those of Jewel’s group were there.
It was a full house and she could not help feeling nervous.
However, she found her confidence as soon as all those neatly dressed men in suits began to look at her expectantly, though some of them reluctantly.
"Once again, I would like to welcome you all to our biweekly report meeting. I also hope that after updating you with the occurrences of these few weeks, we can schedule our subsequent meetings to once a month."
A few of the CEOs nodded but some of them were quite reluctant. Sabrina swallowed and continued since Robin advised her the last time to not be intimidated by them.
It annoyed her that his advice worked so well but he was indeed far more experienced than her, for which reason she had to admit that Robin was good at what he does.
Another reason why her confidence was gingered was the fact that they had made more profit than expected of these investors.
"This week, we have experienced substantial growth as displayed on the screen. Purchase of rare gems skyrocketed suddenly but the usual gold and diamonds were also not left out. We also purchased a 5kg jade which would bring a lot of profit when used to produce pieces of jewelry."
She paused and looked at their tables. "Everything in the document in front of you has been projected on the screen. You can read the margins from the last time we had this meeting two weeks ago."
She was able to now get the whole house nodding their heads in satisfaction, which caused her to smile.
"To add to this, our stocks are also rising tremendously every day."
"Miss James, I must say that I am very impressed with your hard work. If you are free after this meeting, I would like to reward you," one of the single CEOs said and Sabrina smiled.
She could tell that he had no idea that she was pregnant for which reason he was trying to hit on her right in the middle of the meeting.
He was a young millionaire who joined the investors just a week ago. Before Sabrina could answer yes or no, Robin responded in her stead,
"She is not available."
His countenance was chilly but the young CEO was determined. He has been in New Jersey for a long time, only moving to New York a few weeks ago, and did not know who Robin was to Sabrina.
"Mr. Jewel..."
"Please focus on matters concerning the meeting," Robin quickly shut him up.
When he opened his mouth again, one of the CEOs pulled him by his suit sleeve, beckoning him to not argue with Robin before the latter messed up his business.
"Miss James, because of your brilliant performance, I wish to propose for our next meeting to be scheduled for a month from now and if this growth continues, we could have it quarterly."
It was one of the CEOs from Robin’s group who brought it up and Sabrina liked the idea.
"I second."
"I also second."
Nine CEOs had already seconded so there was no need to cast a vote. Sabrina, therefore, brought the meeting to a close.
"In that case, our next meeting would be in a month from now. My secretary would send everyone soft copies of the report."
"Thank you, Miss James, have a great day," one of the CEOs said while the rest nodded and they each began to walk out of the conference room.
Sabrina wanted to speak with Martin but because of Robin, he was the first to leave. Sabrina frowned and was about to say something when Robin’s phone rang. It was Daniel so he answered it.
"Robin, I got Mara’s hacker."
